there's so many children it sickens her . all of them in the grip of something evil , seeing what happened on those screens tonight and traumatising them before they even have a chance to set foot in the games . and sometimes she forgets that she's going back in , thrust into what destroyed her thirteen short years ago , the arena she feels she never really left .
" good point , " she mumbles , her head shaking as she reluctantly shuts the door behind her . let the child have her privacy , god knows every eye in the country will be following her in a week's time , and tears can't fall in front of sponsors . or competitors . " she's gentle , then . you should . . . work on that . " she sighs , reaches to begin undoing her braid as they walk . " i don't know what to say to anyone anymore . there's nothing to say that can fix any of this . "

Every fibre of his being wills him to take her up on her offer, to disregard social rules and find his daughter; to comfort her, to be there as her father but he remains still in his spot with indecision. Dark eyes flicker toward the bathroom door, flit momentarily to the upper right to control something that bubbled suddenly from the depths of his soul before he settles it with breath just as deep.
His eyes finally find Mina. He takes in her appearance again, finds himself nauseous too; his swallow his thick, his gaze falls, and something of an understanding hits him.
"Who didn't...?" Graham whispers.
"I won my games when I was very young - her knowledge of cruelty has never been what the other children in our district have seen. She...fainted once when her mother accidentally cut herself on a broken dish..." The man's tone is gentle, saddened, but dreamlike as if his ramblings were currently being expressed unwillingly.
"Leave her." He says with tremored breath, blinking emotion away as he turns to rejoin the rest of the tributes. "She has no other choice but to learn on her own."

However, sequentially, the Q2 PAT climbed by 8.13% from ₹802 crore in June 2022 quarter. Net interest income (NII) stood at ₹1,595 crore in Q2FY23 also declining by 13.8% from ₹1,851 crore in Q2 of FY22.
In the second quarter, its total expenses stood at ₹1,342.14 crore compared to ₹1,493.56 crore in Q2FY22.
Further, in Q2FY23, the company garnered revenue of ₹2,497.73 crore compared to ₹2,830.43 crore in Q2 of the previous fiscal. In Q1FY23, the company posted a revenue of ₹2,503.86 crore.
For the first half of FY23 (H1), the company posted a net profit of ₹1,669.22 crore versus ₹1,965.16 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. Meanwhile, revenue from operations came in at ₹5,001.59 crore against ₹5,544.22 crore in H1FY22.
On a consolidated basis, the company’s loan assets under management grew 6% YoY to Rs. 64,356 crore in H1FY23 as against ₹60,919 crore last year. During the quarter, consolidated Loan Assets under management increased by ₹912 crores i.e. an increase of 1% QoQ. Consolidated Profit after tax for H1 FY23 stood at ₹1,727 crore as against ₹1,981 crore last year. Consolidated Profit after tax for Q2 FY23 increased by 9% QoQ at ₹902 crore as against ₹825 crore in Q1 FY23.
George Jacob Muthoot, Chairman stated, “ The contribution of our subsidiaries to the overall consolidated AUM remain at 11%. Our Microfinance Subsidiary, Belstar has registered a remarkable YoY Loan growth of 53% with AUM at ₹5138 crore. We are also witnessing improved collections across microfinance, vehicle finance, and home loans. We continue to monitor these sectors for emerging opportunities with an objective to drive a balanced business growth.”
Further, George Alexander Muthoot, Managing Director said, ” Our gold loan AUM stood at ₹56,501 crore registering a YOY growth of 3% and a slight QoQ growth. The standalone profit after tax increased by 8% QoQ for Q2 FY23 at ₹867 crore. Though we were able to migrate teaser loans to higher rates, full impact transformation will take few more quarters. Further despite the rising interest rate scenario, we were able to maintain our borrowing cost at 7.98% for Q2FY23.
Muthoot Finance opened 24 branches in Q2 FY23.
Going forward, the MD added “in the coming quarters, we expect the borrowing cost to remain in that range mainly due to the positive impact on account of retirement of ECB amounting to USD450million in October 2022 which carried a high cost. We expect that our improved focus on loan disbursements and recovery measures as well as borrowing cost will enable us to maintain NIM around 11-12%. We continue to invest in our various digital initiatives along with our Gold loan@home service. We will continue to work on strengthening our growth strategy with focus on branch expansion and digital strategy.”
On BSE, Muthoot Finance shares closed at ₹1,105.35 apiece lower by 1.18%. The stock has an intraday high and low of ₹1,133.30 apiece and ₹1,097.55 apiece earlier in trading hours.

You Will Know Me by Megan Abbott
You Will Know Me by Megan Abbott
You Will Know Me (2016) is worth reading. It’s an adult murder mystery not appropriate for children. The Gymnastics coming-of-age story is incidental to the plot. Author Megan Abbott was not a gymnast — but does a very credible job of writing from the perspective of a Gym Mom at BelStars Gymnastics. She joined Gymnastics parent forums to listen to what they talked about. You Will Know…

Buying Imported Prosecco in Ontario
Importing Prosecco in Ontario—What is Involved?
There is no doubt that Prosecco is the most popular sparkling wine in Italy but now it is also the #1 bubbly exported around the world. In Ontario, we import and consume our fair share of Prosecco. The availability is very good, and the selection is quite diverse.  Let’s understand the promise of Prosecco and discover a best value prosecco imported in Ontario.
What Distinguishes Prosecco from other Sparkling Wines?
Prosecco is sparkling wine that originates from the Valdobbiadene Region of Northern Italy, informally called the “Prosecco Zone”.
It is made entirely from the Glera grape variety.
It is vinified using the Charmat Method of producing sparkling wine.
The type of grape, Glera, and method of production, Charmat, used in making Prosecco allows for a fruit forward style of wine produced to be consumed soon after bottling. Prosecco showcases clean primary aromas of the grape, contains residual sugar typically between 9-15g/L and is balanced by the high levels of acidity. Brut is the most popular style of Prosecco and it contains under 12g/L of residual sugar.
What Pairs Well with Prosecco?
Prosecco is an ideal aperitif, given its mouth-watering fruitiness and slightly sweet nature, and it is also versatile in food pairing. From light appetizers to charcuterie, to sushi and spicy Caribbean inspired dishes, Prosecco compliments them all.
Finding Quality Prosecco in Ontario
The number one rule when looking for a good quality Prosecco (or any other type of wine for that matter) is to buy from a reputable producer.  When importing Prosecco in Ontario, look for a wine made by an actual winery rather than a virtual brand created by a large bottler. In wine production, product integrity begins with having control of how the fruit is grown and harvested.  There are producers that do not own their own vineyards or grow their own grapes. Instead, they buy pressed juice, or already fermented wine, to bottle.  In this case, the producer has no guarantee of the quality of base product being acquired which can require manipulation to achieve the desired quality of finished Prosecco. Virtual Prosecco brands can often be identified because the brand also exists on different types of wines from other regions, or even other types of alcohol products.  Similarly, many of the Prosecco brands you will find imported into Ontario were created specifically for the export market and do not exist in Italy. In Ontario, virtual brands dominate the retail store options. To find the grower-made Proseccos, look in Vintages and, to the more consistently supplied, Private Wine Importers.
Tip: When you find a Prosecco you enjoy, you can do your research online and learn about the producer behind the brand. A company that takes pride and shares the history of their vineyards and farming practices and grows its own grapes is a good sign. The steep, hand harvested hillside vineyards produce the best quality fruit.
The Quality Categories of Prosecco
Prosecco DOC
This is the most common quality level of Prosecco and is dominated by the large volume producers.  This classification covers nine provinces in the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia region. The majority of this area is flat and harvested by machine. Importing Prosecco DOC in Ontario will usually be at a price point of $12 to $25 per bottle.
Prosecco Superiore DOCG
Grapes blended from these hillside vineyards located in the specific areas between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, or Asolo. These regions produce good quality Prosecco and, generally speaking, are from smaller, quality focused producers. Compared to Prosecco DOC, you will encounter more hits than misses when exploring these wines.  Prosecco Superiore DOCG are typically priced from $20 to $35 per bottle in Ontario.
Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore Rive DOCG
These are specific wines made from hillside commune vineyards in the Congeliano Valdobbiadene area.  This category includes 43 eligible communes, or vineyard sites. This is very high-quality vintage Prosecco normally priced above $30 per bottle in Ontario. These wines are not commonly found in stores and more easily accessible by private ordering through a Wine Importer or Agent.
Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze DOCG
Cartizze is the name of the hillside that produces the most prestigious vintage Proseccos, and these wines garner the highest Prosecco prices. They are very concentrated and can have higher residual sugar levels that balance them. Expect to pay grower Champagne prices, starting around $40 per bottle, to enjoy Cartizze in Ontario. Know your producer and contact the Import Agent to place your order but be prepared that it is often a custom order, and you may have to wait for your favourite Cartizze to arrive!
Recommended Producer: BISOL 1542
The Bisol family has been producing Prosecco since 1542. The knowledge of the territory and the experience from refining the production process over eight generations, is unparalleled in the industry. In addition, the family has continued to acquire vineyard holdings and is now the largest Vineyard-Owner-Producer in the region. Knowledge and control of the fruit that produces their wines are the foundation of their fine quality.
Best Value Prosecco:
Belstar Prosecco Brut
The Prosecco we import in Ontario from Bisol 1542 are Belstar Prosecco Brut DOC and Belstar Rose Extra-Dry. Translated from the local dialect, Belstar means, a beautiful place to be. (Bel, meaning ‘beautiful’, and Star, meaning ‘to be’). Belstar Prosecco is grown on hillside vineyards in the DOC zone and offers expressive, balanced fruit that is grown with minimal intervention and harvested by hand. These wines are crafted with the production knowledge the Bisol family has developed crafting exceptional Cartizze and Superiore Proseccos for generations. Consider these wines the best value Proseccos imported in Ontario based on the quality of expression, elegance and clean, precise finish for under $20.00 per bottle.

CALABRESE
It’s well worth growing your own calabrese because home-grown crops are much more tender and flavorful than shop-bought types. The plants produce one main central head and then numerous smaller side-shoots, which prolong the harvest period; the florets also freeze well, so any gluts can be preserved for later. If you’re too short of space to sow in pots or modules indoors, direct sowings in summer outdoors will perform extremely well.
Tumblr media
1. GETTING STARTED Calabrese prefer rich, well-drained soil, so dig in plenty of organic matter such as well-rotted manure or compost in the season before you intend to plant. Make sure that no other members of the brassica family have been planted in the same location in the previous year; this will help to prevent the build-up of soil pests and diseases.
-Fiesta produces large, well-rounded heads and a good crop of secondary side-shoots.
-Ironman produces a reliable crop of dome-shaped, blue–green heads with fine buds.
-Belstar keeps well once cut and is worth growing for its tasty blue-green heads.
-Kabuki can be harvested when young for a second crop. Good for small spaces.
2. SOWING SEEDS Calabrese can be sown under cover in pots or large modules to transplant later. Fill the container with seed compost, firm gently, water well, and make two holes per pot or module, 1cm (1⁄2in) deep. Drop a seed into each hole, cover with compost, and water in lightly. Once emerged, thin to leave the stronger seedling. Alternatively, seed can be sown directly into the final position outside. Create a seedbed: mark out rows 30cm (12in) apart and sow a cluster of three seeds every 20cm (8in), into holes 2cm (3⁄4in) deep. Thin the seedlings to the strongest and use organic pellets for slug protection.
-Calabrese can be overwintered in a frost-free greenhouse for harvests in early spring. Sow two or three seeds in each individual pot in late summer or early autumn.
-After germination seedlings will need to be thinned to one per pot or module as they develop. When they are about 15cm (6in) tall they will be ready to plant out.
3. PLANTING OUT Once indoor-sown plants are 15cm (6in) tall, harden them off and plant out 20cm (8in) apart, in rows 30cm (12in) apart. Don’t let them become root-bound as this can cause the premature formation of small heads. Keep the plants well watered and well weeded. Put a brassica collar around each plant to deter cabbage root fly.
-Divide up your plot using bamboo canes and string – this will help you work out your plant spacings and will provide support for netting.
-Young plants should be hardened off and planted out as soon as possible in spring, as they cope best with being moved if the weather is not too warm.
4. ROUTINE CARE As the heads of the plants begin to develop, draw soil around the base of the stems to stabilize them – this is called “earthing up”. At this point a liquid high-nitrogen fertilizer can be applied to boost the main head size and to encourage the production of side-shoots for subsequent harvests.
-Tall varieties may need staking if earthing up does not provide sufficient support. Tie the plants in to sturdy bamboo canes as necessary.
5. PROTECTING PLANTS Erect a frame of netting over your plants to deter birds – especially pigeons and cabbage white butterflies. Ensure the net is fine, with a maximum mesh diameter of 5mm (1⁄4in) to stop the adult butterflies reaching your plants, and keep it taut to reduce the risk of birds becoming entangled in it.
-Mealy cabbage aphids target brassica crops and can swarm plants, disfiguring the leaves. Aim to protect crops at an early stage.
6- HARVESTING The first cutting can be expected approximately 3–4 months after sowing, depending on the variety and time of year. Cut the main head off first and when the smaller side-shoots appear, harvest these. Young, tender leaves of calabrese can also be eaten.
-Use a knife to cut the heads whole before the tight flower buds begin to open. This encourages a second crop.
Note : Calabrese plants spaced closely (15cm/6in apart) give a flush of small heads.
