[ad_1] The wait for the Champions Trophy schedule continues. (PC: X.com) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stands isolated in the International Cricket Council (ICC). This is with regards to accepting a hybrid model for next year’s Champions Trophy, with all the other member boards siding with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), RevSportz understands. In fact, it’s now a take-it-or-leave-it situation for the PCB. If they don’t agree to the hybrid model, they might lose the tournament. On Friday, the ICC Board met virtually to find a workable solution for the Champions Trophy, scheduled to be played in February-March 2025, with the BCCI refusing to send the India team across the border for the tournament, citing security concerns. It is not the BCCI’s decision. The Indian cricket board didn’t receive approval from the Indian government. According to sources, today’s meeting lasted for less than 15 minutes, with the PCB being presented with the hybrid option. If it is adopted, the majority of the matches will be played in Pakistan, while India will play their games in a second country (likely in Dubai). The alternative is that the Champions Trophy is played outside Pakistan, with the PCB retaining the hosting rights. It is learnt that the PCB asked for time and they were advised to find a workable solution, in consultation with the BCCI, the ICC and a few other member boards. At that point, the meeting was adjourned. It is likely to be reconvened in a day or two. The ICC Board has 12 Full Members, three representatives from the Associates and an independent director, along with the chairman and the CEO. The PCB so far has remained steadfast about not accepting a hybrid model. “We shall take injury, but we shall not take insult this time,” PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was quoted as saying yesterday. At the ICC meeting, the vibe was still about finding a solution acceptable to all parties. The PCB also needs the Pakistan government’s approval before taking the final call. But if they eventually refuse to budge, Pakistan might lose the tournament. Hardik Pandya’s ankle injury has ruled him out. This Player is Selected To Replace Him In India
An ankle injury will keep India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya out of the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
Tumblr media
It was confirmed on Saturday by the International Cricket Council that India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya will miss the current Cricket World Cup 2023 because of an ankle ailment. When India played Bangladesh on October 19 at the MCA Stadium in Pune, Hardik twisted his ankle. In the matches that India played against Sri Lanka, England, and New Zealand, he did not participate.
“India’s unbeaten start to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup has received a massive hit with news that star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has failed to recover from his ankle injury and will miss the remainder of the tournament,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.
As a replacement for Hardik, bowler Prasidh Krishna has been added to the team by the ICC Event Technical Committee.
“His place in India’s squad will be taken by Prasidh Krishna, with the inexperienced fast bowler parachuted into the playing group after being approved by the tournament’s Event Technical Committee on Saturday,” stated the International Cricket Council.
Wasim Khan (ICC General Manager – Cricket and ETC Chair), Chris Tetley (ICC Head of Events), Hemang Amin (Acting CEO – BCCI), Gaurav Saxena (General Manager – Operations, BCCI), Russell Arnold, and Simon Doull (Independent Representatives) make up the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
India defeated Sri Lanka by 302 runs earlier this week to go to the Cricket World Cup semifinals. India bowled Sri Lanka out for a meagre total of 55 after registering a massive total of 357/8.
With seven points from seven games, India leads the points standings. On Sunday, they play South Africa, who are ranked second.
India’s Updated Squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023:
Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav.

India's three-match Twenty20 International trip of Ireland has been scheduled
India's tour in the shortest format will take place later this year, according to latest information from Cricket Ireland. India, the top-ranked men's T20I team, will return to Malahide for a three-match T20I series with dates of August 18, August 20, and August 23.
Tumblr media
Prior to this, in 2022, India and Ireland engaged in a thrilling two-match T20I series that the Men in Blue won 2-0. Both games were intense contests, and Ireland was unfortunate not to come away with at least one noteworthy victory. The world's best T20I team returning for a second straight year is a testament to the skill and toughness of the current Irish team and a suitable way to cap off the summer's domestic international matches.
"We're delighted to welcome India Men back to Ireland for the second time in 12 months," Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Deutrom stated in response to the news. The fact that this year's series will consist of three games should allow even more people to attend what is usually a great event. In 2022, we witnessed two sold-out matchups.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the BCCI for continuing to include Ireland in the Indian team's busy schedule as well as for cooperating with us to create a schedule that is as fan-friendly as is humanly possible. By scheduling games for Friday and Sunday, we expect to attract the most spectators.
India's tour of Ireland Playing schedule
18 August: Ireland Men v India Men – 1st T20I 20 August: Ireland Men v India Men – 2nd T20I  23 August: Ireland Men v India Men – 3rd T20I

[ad_1] ECB chair Richard Thompson and CEO Richard Gould (Image: PCB) The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has dismissed the idea of having next year’s Champions Trophy without India. The ECB top brass has also mentioned the alternatives, in case India don’t travel to Pakistan for the ICC event. India haven’t played a match in Pakistan since 2008. The Champions Trophy is scheduled to be played in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9 next year. The Indian cricket team going across the border for the tournament is subject to the government of India’s permission. India didn’t travel to Pakistan for last year’s Asia Cup and the tournament was played in a hybrid model, with India playing their matches in Sri Lanka. An ICC functionary had earlier told RevSportz that a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy could also be a real possibility. ECB chair Richard Thompson and CEO Richard Gould are currently in Pakistan, ahead of the ICC meetings in Dubai. And they spoke to the media on the sidelines of the ongoing second Test between Pakistan and England. “Without India? I wouldn’t have thought so, because if you play the Champions Trophy without India or Pakistan, the broadcast rights aren’t there, and we need to protect them,” Gould said. Pakistan haven’t hosted a global event since 1996. But if India refuse to go to Pakistan, then alternative arrangements have to be made. The ECB chief executive said as much. “There are a variety of different options available if those circumstances come along,” Gould added. “But also, when was the last time Pakistan hosted any kind of ICC trophy? This is a big moment for the country, and hopefully we can have the fullest possible competition in Pakistan. If that’s not possible, we know there are options available.” Jay Shah will take charge as the ICC’s independent chair later this year, and it would be interesting to see what role he plays. “It’s interesting with Jay Shah, the former (outgoing) secretary of the BCCI and now chair (elect) of the ICC, going to have a big role to play in that,” said Thompson. “There’s geopolitics and then there’s cricketing geopolitics. I think they will find a way. They have to find a way.” He added: “There are always security concerns in this part of the world when those two countries play each other. That will probably drive the key decisions. But I know relationships between the two countries are as amicable as they can be at the moment. We saw it play out at the World Cup in New York. It would not be in cricket’s interests for India not to be playing in the Champions Trophy.” The ECB hierarchy refused to comment on whether India should travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, saying it would be between the two countries. The post Champions Trophy without India a no-go, says ECB appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports. [ad_2] Source link
