Sydney Thunder looks just too dependent on Shane Watson. A better batting lineup, a better bowling attack, and home advantage all point to a win for the Perth Scorchers. Perth Scorchers will look to avenge last month’s defeat to Sydney Sixers. The Perth Scorchers have won just three out of their nine matches so far. It is looking like teams will need around 7-8 wins to be able to qualify and so the Perth Scorchers cannot afford any more defeats from here on in. Sydney Thunder is in a similar position with four wins from ten games but is in fourth place on the BBL League table.

The Perth Scorchers are going to be playing at Perth Stadium, a venue they are very suited to. The hard and fast pitch at Perth allows their bowling attack to be at its best. The Perth Scorchers are also going to be significantly stronger in this match thanks to the return of Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh, and Jason Behrendorff from national duty. The addition of Shaun Marsh and Mitchell Marsh makes the Perth Scorchers a strong batting side. Ashton Turner 302 runs from nine innings, and in sublime form. Cameron Bancroft, back from his ball tampering ban, scored 59 against the Melbourne Stars and an unbeaten 87 against Sydney Sixers, meanwhile, meaning he has 191 runs from six innings despite a duck last time out. The bowling unit will likely comprise of Nathan Coulter-Nile, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, and Usman Qadir for this match. One of Matthew Kelly and Aaron Hardie will also find a place in the squad. This is a very strong Perth Scorchers side, perhaps the strongest it has been this season.

Sydney Thunder is going to have a tough time playing the Perth Scorchers in this match. Fawad Ahmad and Chris Green have been very good but the wickets have also dried up a bit for them. Gurinder Sandhu seems to have staked his claim in the team and will be supported by Sams, Rainbird, and maybe Watson himself. This bowling attack will need a lot of luck against a Perth Scorchers batting lineup which has been strengthened by the return of its best players.

We think this is an excellent batting opportunity. The Perth Scorchers have underperformed in the Big Bash League so far. They are a much better side than the results suggest. The opposite is true of Sydney Thunder. We think it is just a matter of time before Sydney Thunder slips down the BBL League table. Perth Scorchers are expected emerge victorious in the contest.

Conclusion:

Perth Scorchers are placed at the bottom of the table and Sydney Thunder at four. But there isn’t a much difference between the two sides. This just shows how closely the teams are placed right now and anyone side could gain a significant advantage by getting a few wins over the other.
