Come To The Bar “The idea to start Bar Jewellery came in 2015. I always imagined I would set up a brand of some kind, I was consulting as a designer and developed the brand on my days off. I had a strong vision for the mood and aesthetic that I wanted to create and an obsession with vintage jewellery. I also love that there is so much emotion attached to jewellery.” - Sophie McKay, Founder ‘Bar Jewellery’. ‘Bar Jewellery’ was launched by former ready-to-wear Burberry designer Sophie McKay in September 2016. The story began as a meeting point between two of her interests - her love of creating jewellery and her desire to leave a positive mark on the industry by starting her very own sustainable business. McKay set the business up in London, where all jewellery is made in local factories by skilled artisans and, where possible, made from recycled silver that has been refined. Inspired by vintage pieces, as well as architecture and contemporary art, the jewellery is pared-back and minimal, with striking modernist sculptural shapes. Having worked for some of the most well-known luxury fashion brands in the world, including ‘Burberry’, ‘Tom Ford’ and ‘Versace’, McKay did not walk into this blindly.
