honestly my only big problem with the knives out movie series is that it's called the knives out series
like yes I'm aware they couldn't have planned for it to become a series. and yes I'm aware benoit blanc is not like, a previously established character. but I think having every sequel be subtitled with "a knives out mystery" is awkward and inelegant and could've been prevented by having all movies, including knives out, be subtitled with a classic "a benoit blanc mystery"
even if knives out had ended up being the only one made "knives out: a benoit blanc mystery" would still be a cool title with the bonus of immediately telling people to expect something heavily agatha-christie-inspired. "XYZ: a knives out mystery" tells you only that they didn't have any good ideas for drawing a clear connection between the movies. you know. the movies in which the only connection is the character benoit blanc.
hell, even if the first one wasn't subtitled they could've re-titled it after getting the sequel greenlit! other film series have done it too. what were they afraid of. why did they settle on such a bad solution.
