Trovare la background music perfetta per un punto vendita, un brand o un hotel può sembrare in fondo intuitivo, non troppo diverso dal selezionare per gli amici su Spotify o Music una playlist piacevole per una cena in compagnia. In realtà il lavoro di un music designer professionista, e pure quello di chi deve concretamente portare la giusta musica in tanti spazi nel mondo, deve tener conto di tanti fattori. Perché la musica giusta regala magia ad ogni marchio, ad ogni spazio. O come dicono gli esperti di marketing, solo il giusto sound fa crescere la brand identity...

Ma quanti brani deve includere la playlist perfetta? "Le nostre selezioni, a differenza di quelle delle radio fm, includono sempre molta musica e vengono aggiornate con costanza. Nei negozi, negli hotel, nei ristoranti non ci sono solo i clienti: chi ci lavora non deve essere condannato a sorbirsi le stesse dieci canzoni in loop per mesi", spiegano Roberto Brignoli  e Matteo Arancio. "Prima di selezionare un brano poi dobbiamo analizzarne con attenzione il testo. In alcuni paesi il turpiloquio è tollerato, in altri no. Alcuni brand amano i brani 'tosti', per altri rappresentano un serio problema".

Come nasce una selezione musicale per uno spazio d'eccellenza? "A volte, ad esempio per il nuovo Lefay Resort Dolomiti, si tratta di progetti davvero articolati. Ci sono ben dieci zone e mood diversi, ognuno con una diversa atmosfera. Soltanto la spa ha quattro zone musicali diverse, in cui non manca l'area Silence/ relax, uno spazio cui i suoni sono eterei. Poi ci sono i due ristoranti, la reception, la cigar lounge, un pool bar e un hammam", raccontano Brignoli e Arancio. Se in camera ognuno può connettere il proprio supporto per ascoltare ciò che desidera, l'ospite quando lascia il resort può portare con sé la musica del Lefay tramite uno special box. "E' una playlist cadeaux, una evoluzione della classica compilation su cd. E' un gadget di qualità legale al 100% che crediamo possa essere davvero interessante", concludono i due fondatori di Rubrasonic Music Design.

Per quel che riguarda i due Lefay Resort (Dolomiti, Garda) ed altri importanti progetti, l'agenzia collabora strettamente con Dado Funky Poetz, tra i più stimati music designer italiani (fin dal 1995 si occupa della programmazione musicale di emittenti radiofoniche nazionali). "Nonostante si tratti dello stesso brand luxury, la selezione musicale diffusa nei due Lefay è piuttosto diversa", spiega Dado Funky Poetz. "Sul Garda la clientela spesso necessita uno stacco dallo stress lavorativo e magari ama la mondanità 'composta' del lago. Per questo ho scelto un mix eclettico di brani internazionali. Il resort sulle Dolomiti, dedicato a gruppi di amici e famiglie più numerose, è orientato invece a chi vuol vivere una vacanza di totale benessere, nella pace della montagna. Per questo ho selezionato atmosfere musicale più calde ed avvolgenti".

Ma qual è la specificità di Rubrasonic Music Design in un davvero particolare? "Siamo prima di tutto musicisti. Nel nostro settore molti degli operatori arrivano dalla radio o dal marketing. Per noi la qualità della musica viene prima di tutto. Già agli inizi, 16 anni fa, non ci accontentavamo di mettere in fila i successi del momento. Ad esempio, molti artisti oggi divenuti mainstream, per noi erano perfetti e pronti da anni", racconta Matteo Arancio. "Un altro punto di forza è il rapporto di fiducia che nel tempo riusciamo ad instaurare con i clienti. Il nostro primo cliente furono i Ferrari Stores, subito dopo arrivò Kiko Milano, e gli altri brand del gruppo Percassi (D-Mail, Soulgreen, etc), con cui collaboriamo da oltre 17 anni", conclude Roberto Brignoli "Galliano".

Tra i tanti brand per cui Rubasonic Music Design seleziona la giusta atmosfera musicale, c'è poi Kiko Milano. In questo caso i music designer selezionano un mix di elettronica, dance e r'n'b. Per i punti vendita D Mail invece il sound è soprattutto electro swing. Per The Artisan by Enoteca Pinchiorri, ristorante italiano d'eccellenza a Dubai, la selezione musicale passa dal nu jazz internazionali a classici italiani rivisitati.  Tra i ristoranti d'eccellenza sonorizzati da Rubrasonic c'è anche Luigia Restaurants, format internazionale dedicato al cibo italiano ideato da Enrico Coppola (già creatore di Toto & Macario a Torino).

Un altro dei 'segreti' di Rubrasonic Music Design, come già accennato, sono le collaborazioni con professionisti di livello assoluto sparsi in giro per il mondo. Se Dado Funky Poetz, oltre che dei due Lefay Resorts, si occupa anche del sound design di Officine Riunite Milanesi (zona Tortona), in Medio Oriente e non solo l'agenzia collabora con Clicbeat, realtà creata da Ivan Minuti, dj e music curator presso il Four Seasons Dubai DIFC. E' infatti insieme a Clicbeat che Rubrasonic cura la selezione musicale di tanti spazi deluxe a Dubai: tra i tanti, Il Borro Tuscan Bistro (Best Restaurant of the Year per Time Out nel 2018 e nel 2019); Alici Restaurant; Luigia Dubai; Matto presso; Mina Brasserie. Inoltre, Rubrasonic, rappresentata da Ivan Minuti, seguito l'installazione artistica Interiority per H&H Studio, realtà di riferimento a Dubai per il design.

Rubrasonic Music Design è poi da anni nel direttivo di AMP, l'Associazione Music Provider, l'associazione che mette insieme chi in Italia realizza progetti di musica d'ambiente in ambito retail (instore music, instore radio). "Quando si parla di diritto d'autore, SIAE, SCF e dintorni, spesso ci si basa su informazioni vaghe", spiegano Matteo Arancio e Roberto Brignoli Galliano. "La nostra agenzia per questo segue il cliente anche in questa importante fase della diffusione musicale. C'è poi la tecnologia: oggi sembra tutto facile, ma non è così: basta un problema alla connessione web per rimanere senza musica... Per questo investiamo molto in ricerca e sviluppo. Puntiamo all'eccellenza, anche in ambito tecnologico".

Healthy Eating Tips for Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas

Let’s get one thing straight: You’re about to go on vacation. A really, really incredible vacation! And if there’s a good time to let loose and indulge, it’s on a really, really incredible vacation. But, if you’re working toward a major weight loss goal or are adhering to a special diet like Keto or Atkins, knowing how to maintain your current eating plan while traveling might bring enough peace of mind to actually relax and enjoy your upcoming adventure.

The newly amped up Navigator of the Seas is packed with dining options that you’ll want to take advantage of during your three- or four-day trip. (This cruise experience is designed specifically for people who are short on time and need or want to pack two week’s worth of fun into a long weekend.)

Note that every dining venue on the ship offers gluten-free and vegetarian options, plus customizations for most dietary needs. If anything is on your mind, just tell your server. But while you wait to vacay, here are my favorite places aboard Navigator of the Seas to eat healthfully:

The Pool Deck: El Loco Fresh

One of the first things you’re going to want to do after you get on board (second only to the safety drill, of course!) is explore the pool deck and its exhilarating water slides. Work up an appetite by trying The Blaster, where five water jets propel you and a friend through more dips and drops than any other waterslide at sea, and the Riptide, the only headfirst mat racer on the ocean (with a see-through curve right off the ship!). Then head to El Loco Fresh (Deck 11), stationed next to the resort pool and splash pad and full of healthy Mexican fare. It’s buffet style, and you start with the protein—chicken, pork, or beef. You may want to skip the sour cream on top, but you won’t miss it with their tangy salsa verde.

One of my favorite things about Royal Caribbean: the crew. Everyone is friendly and ready to delight you during your stay. So I had to ask them about their favorite ways to eat healthy on-board, too. The Navigator’s art gallery director, Yuri R. from Ukraine (you’ll find each crew member’s home country on their name tag), loves El Loco Fresh too. “Tacos from El Loco Fresh are one of my top healthy choices on board Navigator of the Seas,” she says. “On most days, my ideal taco starts with a flour tortilla topped with chicken, or beans if I want to eat vegetarian. For toppings, we have a whole dedicated station that includes several salsas. I keep it simple by adding pico de gallo, cilantro, jalapeños, and a bit of lime juice. The combination of savory, spicy flavors is perfect, and I can easily grab this lunch on the go.”

Don’t miss the fresh oysters at Hooked Seafood.

The Restaurants: Windjammer Marketplace

With 12 special dining venues on the ship, there is no one healthiest place to eat—nor would you want to limit yourself to the same locale night after night. That said, the Windjammer Marketplace (Deck 11) is complimentary and buffet style, offering the most flexibility when filling your plate. It’s also open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Choose from fresh salads, soups, sandwiches, grilled steaks, roast chickens, and seafood. The Main Dining Room (Decks 3 and 4)—while more formal—is also free of charge and offers a wide range of options for all three meals. If you’re a fan of New England style seafood, you’ll love the menu at Hooked Seafood (Deck 4). I couldn’t get enough of their fresh oysters. Antonio S., an engineer cadet from Croatia, joins me in loving the grilled salmon with veggies as an entrée. “My ideal meal is one that’s a good source of protein complemented with healthy sides—simple and light, yet filling,” he says. “Hooked Seafood, our New England-inspired restaurant on Navigator of the Seas, has one of my favorite dishes: the freshly grilled salmon with seasonal vegetables. I’ve always felt that a dish full of colorful food tends to be the healthiest. I enjoy every bite and always leave feeling full and not stuffed.”

The sushi at Izumi (Deck 14) is also some of the best I’ve ever had. Consider working a cheat day into your trip, and on that night, go family style at Jamie’s Italian By Jamie Oliver (Deck 11), followed by drinks at the Polynesian-themed Bamboo Room (Deck 5) off the promenade. Note that you can also eat there, too. Ingrid B., of guest services and from Guatemala, is a regular. “On days when I need to fuel up before work but I’m not feeling too hungry, I go for the ahi tuna poke from The Bamboo Room,” she says. “The dish is smaller than others but it’s protein-packed and full of several of my favorite flavors. It does the trick to hold me over until I can grab a quick snack on my break. Plus, these poke-filled wonton cups make the dish easy to eat and add a nice crunch.”

Grab ‘N Go: Cafe Promenade

A complimentary dining destination, Cafe Promenade (Deck 5) is the perfect place to grab a smoothie, yogurt, or veggie-packed wrap after a workout at the Fitness Center (Deck 12), a treatment at the Vitality At Sea Spa (Deck 12), or on your way out of the ship to explore for the day. Bonus: It’s open 24/7 and is close to all cabin room decks if you’re looking for a late-night snack.

Perfect Day at Coco Cay: Skipper’s Grill and Chill Grill

First, congratulations on booking yourself one of the most epic days ever. Good luck choosing what to do first—what with 13 waterslides (including the tallest slide in North America!), a 1,600-foot long zip line course, snorkeling, a helium balloon, and more. Around noon or so, mosey on over to Skipper’s Grill (Thrill Water Park) or Chill Grill (Chill Island), where you’ll find table after table of build-your-own-salads, healthy sandwiches and tacos, and fruits and veggies galore. Everything is free, and when you consider how many calories you’ll burn walking around these 125 acres, you should 100 percent pour a round of self-serve beer. Halfway between the Norwegian mainland and the North Pole, this archipelago comes up trumps for bracing travel adventures and spell-binding wildlife. No wonder the number of polar cruises has jumped 20 per cent year-on-year, cutting through glass-like fjords like Kongsfjorden, passing mighty glaciers and cliffs swarming with nesting birds.

Cruise company Hurtigruten, for example, takes you well within 600 nautical miles from the Geographical North Pole and docks regularly for hikes, kayaking and expeditions on dry land as it circumnavigates Spitsbergen (Svalbard’s largest island). If it’s good enough for Presidents and movie stars, the sun-kissed dunes of southeast Massachusetts will do for us too. But prettily white-washed Provincetown (‘P-Town’ to locals) is far from puritanical – this fun-loving, bohemian seaside town loves to let its hair down and has a smattering of great art galleries.
