I was vaguely convinced to share my ideas on a Kamen Rider fanfic so I’m typing it up.
So here we go, I’ll write up the basic ideas of the characters, motifs, and personalities. But let us start with the basic groundwork.
Kamen Rider Guardian follows a Rider who’s transformations powers stem from a card game. Why? Cause I’m a card game dork who specializes in competitive Yugioh and Cardfight Vanguard, and also I like Rider. Rules are shaky but are vaguely built using the Dragon Ball Super system as a basis. The rules are also incomplete, but with this groundwork of Riders who transform with decks laid out, lets get into the characters and their decks.
Victoria Nguyen
Kamen Rider Guardian
She’s a bright and talented player, and the most recent national champion. Playful, light-spirited, and overall a kind and caring person, her nasty temper is on a short fuse. She accepts the role given to her as a Rider to keep those she cares for safe. She currently works at Cardshop Will-o-Wisp as a clerk.
Her base form comes from her competitive deck, the Guardian Beast Deities. Using the Beast Deities (Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, Azure Dragon, and White Tiger) as the motif, her deck makes use of a balanced offense and defense. Her form uses weapons based on the 4 beasts to fight. Her other decks she owns include Lightning Reaper (Stacks more damage per hit to win with a lightning fast single strike, form increases her speed and power, and gives her a scythe), Sakura Spirits (A deck that focuses misdirection and luring the opponents into traps, lowers her base power and defense, but increases her speed dramatically), Astoroth’s Curse (A self destructive and berserk play style meant to obliterate the opponent and crush their spirits, Berserk form for Guardian), and lastly the upgraded version of her Guardian Beast Deities, Heaven’s Golden Dragon. She uses the Dueling Drive to transform.
”Give me a fight to remember, alright? Henshin!”
Ryusuke Kamado
Kamen Rider Draconis
Stoic and reserved in day to day life, but fiery, smug, and cocky when fighting, he is a surprisingly defensive player and caring person. Runner-up and national champion the year prior, he’s graduated with honors and works as a programmer. He accepts the role as a Kamen Rider to become someone others can look at to protect them, and to save those who need it. His main deck is Knights of the Draconids, a deck that prioritizes defense, and strikes with every block. His deck gives him a very bulky form with a large shield, prioritizing defending civilians over fighting. His deck obtains 2 upgrades through Draconids Starfire (designed to give the original deck an upgrade in direct fighting versus counter play and defense, his armor and shield are lightened to increase direct offensive potential), and Holy Dragon Knights (improves both the direct offensive and counter play options of the original deck. Armor is made incredibly dense but light, and the shield gains a large blade at the end). He uses the Dueling Driver to transform.
“You will bow to my shield. Henshin”
Jason Pierce
Kamen Rider Frost
Childhood friend of Victoria before she moved away as a kid, Jason tossed aside his deck when she left. However, he’s grown to be a snarky, cruel analyst for an underhanded competitive player. Having a strange knack for mixing decks that shouldn’t go together, he uses a different transformation system from the others. After reconnecting with Victoria he does start to warm up again, but he’s overall a cold, closed off individual with a burning desire to connect with others again inside. As a kid, he had a much more fiery personality. His base deck is Frozen Soldier, which prioritizes control and precise blows to bring him victory. He also uses Windfell Ghosts (usually used in team formats, this deck prioritizes supporting the other teammate) as a secondary deck. He uses the custom built Frost Rifle to transform.
“Solomon Weyer”
Kamen Rider Barbatos
Working under a pseudonym, Solomon was involved in the development of the Dueling Driver and the game used to transform. Not a lot is known about him, but he’s a fighter who uses any advantage he can to win. He is the primary enemy to Guardian and her team. His primary deck, Devil’s Duke, uses his own life and creatures as cost to force the opponent to defeat. He also eventually uses Call of Lucifer, which forces it’s opponent to choose between benefits for the deck’s user or detriments for the deck’s opponent. He uses the Forbidden Driver to transform.
“Let the shadow of defeat snuff out your passion... Henshin”
And here ya go. It’s not too good in my own opinion, but I worked hard and want to at least share the character ideas I have
