I am ahead of it on this hour and wanting to be in the spirit of being so in the coming days .. errr ... DAYS

It has been a sluggish day .. a short break after some hectic work schedules .. and an early call again tomorrow ..

The anticipation of the KIDs with their wit and confidence , in their amazing form awaits me .. and a wonder for all that shall witness it soon to know of what I have been talking about ..

There is ofcourse a lamentation towards the pending large sections of work that need to be done for Babuji's work .. and one that is now becoming a MUST DO , SOON ..

I shall need the inputs from all concerned to be able to put together , what bears in my mind .. and the immense facilities available 'technically' do seem challenging .. but then it is a challenge that must be taken ..

Assimilation is an art too .. how and when to execute it .. and the manner in which it needs the perfection of a finality , is daunting ..

But it must be DONE .. time is running out and before it reaches the finishing tape .. I need to strive to be ahead and breast it , to be declared a winner ..

fingers and hands that are concerned about fixing my face and hair .. a bother .. its not going to make any difference , but they do it .. and the reason being that the camera lenses are such now that they pick up every grain of your skin hair etc., and it looks bad for a broadcast .. Or so they say while holding up the game time of the show ..

Salman Khan’s Diwali release Tiger 3 is nearly a week away and the excitement is tremendous. What’s interesting is that it’ll have a solo release of sorts, as no other Hindi or Pan-India South film is clashing on the same day. In fact, Salman Khan has not faced a clash since 2010. The last time that happened was when his 2009 action super-hit film Wanted was released on the same day as Rani Mukerji-starrer Dil Bole Hadippa.

Dabangg (2010), Ready (2011), Bodyguard (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Dabangg 2 (2012), Jai Ho (2014), Kick (2014), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), Sultan (2016), Tubelight (2017), Race 3 (2018), Bharat (2019), Dabangg 3 (2019) and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023) released with no competition. Antim (2021) faced a collision with Satyameva Jayate 2 (2021) but then it didn’t feature the superstar in the lead.

Other stars haven’t been that fortunate. Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale (2015) and Raees (2017) were released alongside Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Kaabil (2017) respectively. SRK is at his best position arguably right now and yet, his next film Dunki will have to share screens with Salaar on Christmas 2023. Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan last year. Salman’s last few films have not done well and yet, no one is ready to come on the same Friday as him.

We asked trade experts about this rare phenomenon. Trade veteran Taran Adarsh said, “He has a huge following and is a darling of the masses. The business he has generated over a period of time in mass pockets is phenomenal. Though he has had a rough patch, he's the pied piper of Bollywood.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan, in agreement, exulted, “Salman is a very big hero of the masses. He has always had such a huge fan following; Shah Rukh Khan ka aisa following ab bana hai. Aamir Khan never had such a mass pull. Salman’s craze is one of a kind. Hence, filmmakers are wary of clashing their films with him. Itna bada hero hai, kaun takkar lega iske saath?”

Girish Johar, producer and film business analyst, remarked, “Salman is the only superstar who people want to see on screen. He has the maximum on-screen superstardom out of all the actors. It’s a very critical factor. He’s also not on our social media every time, going to malls, opening ribbons, dancing, etc.”

He continued, “Unfortunately his films have not worked as he hasn’t paid much attention to the storytelling, packaging, direction, etc. He has that power that if he gets these things right, then there’s no stopping him. That’s why many are wary of clashing with him as they know that at least in the opening weekend, their film will get butchered.”

Raj Bansal, the owner of Entertainment Paradise cinema hall in Jaipur, explained, “Salman Khan is an action hero. When no one was doing action, he was the only action excelling in this genre. Somewhere, his confidence shook and he also did non-action films like Tubelight (2017), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), etc. Only Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) worked in this regard. But even when his films were gadbad, they still made Rs. 100 crores plus. There was a time when the hit films of Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn did Rs. 100 crores. But Salman’s flop films do Rs. 100 crores even today! And his hit films have done more than Rs. 300 crores. It’s thanks to him that the industry realized the true potential of a Hindi film. Hence, clashing with him can prove suicidal.”

He also said, “He’s 100% an organic star. Even Sunny Deol is.”

Girish Johar added, “If he moulds himself to the sensibilities that cater to his fans and also provides intelligent content, then sky is the limit. I think Tiger 3 will do well. It ticks all the right boxes.”

Taran Adarsh also said along the same lines, “Tiger 3 being a brand and essaying a role that is much-loved, I am sure it’ll have a great run and a huge opener.”

The Trial's pivotal Track was inspired by a Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea Chakraborty, and Arnab Goswami episode.

Three years ago, the COVID-19 pandemic was causing havoc in India, but the Sushant Singh Rajput death case was also receiving attention from the media and some online users. Rhea Chakraborty's portrayal as the villain eventually turned the situation into a media spectacle. A number of outrageous accusations—the majority of which lacked any supporting evidence—were made against her in connection with the actor's death. This iconic episode is covered in a key track in the most recent web series, The Trial, which debuted today on Disney+ Hotstar.

In the leading role, Kajol plays a mother trying to support her family after her husband is implicated in a bribery and sex scandal in The Trial. To make ends meet, she must work at a law firm. Every episode depicts Noyonika Sengupta (Kajol) battling a different case. The death of cricketer Mohit Singh, which occurred in mysterious circumstances, is one such case that is quite memorable. Juhi Bhatia, his girlfriend, has been detained on suspicion of aiding suicide. Despite the fact that the deceased is depicted as a sportsman, it is obvious that the Sushant Singh Rajput case served as inspiration for the film's creators.

The 2020 case is also notable because popular news anchor Arnab Goswami tried his best to persuade his viewers that Sushant Singh Rajput was killed by Rhea Chakraborty by presenting them with various theories. Daksh Rathod (Atul Kumar), a character based on him, also treats Juhi in the same way. Daksh Rathod is depicted as working for SNP News while Arnab happens to be the owner of Republic Network.

Press Club of India elects new office-bearers

The results of the Press Club of India (PCI) election 2024 was declared on Sunday, with the existing panel of senior journalists Gautam Lahiri and Neeraj Thakur making a clean sweep.

All key posts of five office-bearers and 16 managing committee members were bagged by the Gautam Lahiri-Neeraj Thakur panel.

Present president Gautam Lahiri was reelected to the post, securing 1045 votes. His opponents Atul Mishra and Arun Sharma polled 133 and 116 votes, respectively.

Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty was elected vice-president with 930 votes against Rahil Chopra and Prahlad Singh Rajput, who received 230 and 100 votes, respectively.

For the post of secretary general, Neeraj Thakur defeated Laxmi Devi Aree, securing 913 votes. Afzal Imam was elected as the joint secretary while Mohit Dubey bagged the post of  treasurer.

There were 28 candidates in the fray for the 16-member managing committee. Among the members, Aditi Rajput secured the highest votes (985) while Meghna Dhulia got the second highest votes (905).

Apart from them, Surabhi Kanga, Pragya Singh, Nalini Ranjan Mohanty, Sunil Negi, Asish Gupta, Shankar Anand, Ravinder Kumar, Abhishek Kumar Singh, Anindya Chattopadhyay,  Amitabha Roy Chowdhury, Mohammad Azad, Ashraf Bastavi, PR Sunil, and Pabba Suresh  Babu were declared as the managing committee members.

The election took place on 9 November at the PCI premises.

FSIB Nominates Ashok Chandra as PNB CEO and MD

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB), responsible for selecting leaders of public sector banks, has recommended Ashok Chandra for the role of Managing Director (MD) and CEO of Punjab National Bank (PNB).

Currently serving as the Executive Director of Canara Bank, Chandra began his banking career in 1991 as a Probationary Officer at the former Corporation Bank. He is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers and has a Master’s degree in Economics.

Atul Kumar Goel, who is scheduled to retire in December, will be replaced by Chandra.

The FSIB stated, “Considering their performance during the interview process, overall experience, and existing criteria, the Bureau recommends Ashok Chandra for the position of MD and CEO at PNB.”

As stated in its statement, the Bureau interviewed sixteen applicants for PNB’s MD and CEO positions.

FSIB is chaired by Bhanu Pratap Sharma, a former secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Other members include Animesh Chauhan, the former Chairman and MD of the erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce; Deepak Singhal, ex-executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India; and Shailendra Bhandari, the former MD of the erstwhile ING Vysya Bank.

The FSIB’s recommendation will need final approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) recommended Ashok Chandra for the role of managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of Punjab National Bank (PNB) on Monday.

Chandra currently serves as executive director (ED) at Canara Bank, a position he has held since November 21, 2022. The existing MD and CEO of PNB, Atul Kumar Goel, is set to conclude his term on December 31, 2024.

On August 1, 2024, the FSIB issued a notification inviting applications for the position, with the deadline for submitting online applications set for August 29.

Beginning his banking career as a probationary officer at the former Corporation Bank in September 1991, Chandra holds a master’s degree in economics and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.

He has led branches in various sectors, including rural, urban, and metropolitan areas, and has overseen multiple zones and regions of the bank nationwide.

Upon his promotion to general manager in 2018, he managed the recovery, legal, and stressed assets management vertical (SAMV) of the bank until he became the chief general manager at Union Bank of India in 2020.

As the head-hunter for directors of state-owned banks and financial institutions, FSIB forwards its recommendations to the Department of Financial Services (DFS) within the finance ministry, which then passes them to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) chaired by the Prime Minister.
