"I'm saying you didn't go through all that trauma alone! Yugi was there beside you the whole time, and he suffered too!" Her tears fell hard and fast. "HE was the one being weakened by those Shadow Games! And HE'S the one who lost his soul! Not just once, but SEVERAL TIMES! You don't think those times would cause him traumas? Even now, in my time, he suffers. Tell me, are there times when your Yugi wakes up in a cold sweat? Disappearing sometimes at night? He's in pain too!"
...
“What?” He thought on all the times Yugi was gone, he always returned. “No, he was going to the bathroom, he was getting a drink of water.” He was rambling and trying to process it.
“He is stronger, braver, more courageous then I can ever be!!” He gritted his teeth. “But...I can’t protect him...he has his guard down from the one thing he needs protecting from!”
#nightfurylover31#Orichalcos! Atemu#Akemi#Atemu is trying to make sense of it#but he is also throwing out the 'threat' that Yugi doesn't see

The Confusing BS that is Zorc, The Thief King, and The Millenium Ring
Trying to piece together what exactly happened with the millenium ring is an exercise in extreme frustration because we’re never actually told and the implications honestly don’t make much sense. Still, it’s something I messed with in my massive rewrite of DM cannon (All This We Do in the Name of Ma'at) and I wanted to explain my logic since some commenters were curious! Fair warning, this will give some minor spoilers for my fic and major spoilers for the DM manga, so do be aware of that before reading on! Also be aware that you’re about to see manga screencaps, so read right to left.
First things first, you need to be aware that manga cannon and anime cannon are very different when it comes to the memory world. The manga is quite short (only 66, 20-page chapters long), so they added a bunch of stuff to the anime. Like all the scenes with baby/kid Atemu? Anime only. The gang meeting Mana? Anime only. Priest Seto’s childhood? Anime only. For the purposes of this discussion, we’re going off of manga cannon.
As far as the manga goes, Zorc is... confusing, to say the least. Bakura is implied to be both Zorc’s servant and a piece of Zorc while Akhenaden (Atemu’s uncle) is the real Zorc.
Here’s the Akhenaden stuff:
And then the Bakura stuff.
First as a clear servant to Zorc:
Then we get the “I, too, am Zorc” bs:
Now, for those of you playing the home game, this doesn’t work if you’re using real Egyptian beliefs. Splitting your soul like this? Not a thing. The parts of the soul didn’t work like that. We’re also never told why Zorc put himself in the ring or when he supposedly did it or even how Bakura learned about Zorc in the first place, so it’s all very much hand-wavey bs that feel like it came out of left field at the last minute. (Maybe we should have been spending a bit more time on this stuff and a bit less time on card games? Just a thought.)
Anyway, what makes far more sense and, frankly, makes things more interesting is to have Bakura and Zorc stay as two seperate people (Akhenaden, too, but we’ll get to that in a bit). Zorc gets sealed away, but he’s been influencing Bakura for years now, so the scars of his influence remain. That could logically lead to Bakura finding a way to seal himself away to so that he can keep working to bring his dark lord back and get his revenge.
This also explains why someone got sealed in the ring, something that is never explained and makes no sense to do until after Atemu’s spell.
Now, you may be wondering, how then does Zorc get into the world?
I’m so glad you asked! For that, allow me to show you why Akhenaden picked the millenium eye even though he could have had any of the items since he’s the one who made the things.
This is my logic as to why Akhenaden is the one who summoned Zorc in the first place. He makes this wish, Zorc appears, and then gloms onto baby Bakura who was watching in the shadows. Following this, Akhenaden beings to serve Zorc to get Seto the throne, Bakura begins to serve Zorc to get revenge on his family, and Baby Atemu sleeps soundly in his mother’s arms, entirely unaware of all the BS his family just set in motion:
And there you have it! That’s why I edited this part of cannon the way I did. As you can see, I really am trying to stick to the source as much as possible for where these changes come from. Hopefully you enjoyed this read! Feel free to ask for more of these if you find this interesting and thanks for reading!

Puzzle June Day 18: Bonded
Yes I know it’s September, yes I know this says June, yes I know I am late. BUT I SWORE I’D FINISH IT AND I AM TRYING!! This is short, sweet, and simple. Based off of @ygospamproduction ‘s post. It’s not exactly how I saw it in my head, but this is me just trying to write something. I needed fluff and I wish I could do this better! Maybe one day X_X But for now...you get this...
AO3 Link
Atemu opened his eyes and groaned softly. He saw the darkness and what appeared to be the wall. He was lying on his stomach with his arms under his pillow. Pulling himself up to find the clock on the desk, he blinked till he could read it clearly.
3:27am
“Too early.” He grunted and plopped himself back on the bed, this time, facing the other person who lied in bed with him. A sleepy smile formed as he looked at Yugi who looked undisturbed by Atemu’s fall back onto the bed.
But just as quickly as Atemu assumed that, Yugi groaned and shifted slightly, one of his hands moved to the blanket that rested on his chest. With a small whimper, he tightened his grip on the fabric, and was still once more.
“Always holding onto it.” Atemu whispered as he looked at Yugi’s hand.
Almost every night Yugi would reach for that spot, where a metal chain and the Millenium Puzzle once rested. Atemu once was a spirit trapped in the puzzle, it was a cold prison to him, but every night Yugi would hold onto it and the former pharaoh would sense a warm feeling in him. It was like a hug or a cup of hot chocolate on a winter night. That puzzle was a prison some days, but really what that item was...no did for him made him smile bigger.
“Because of you…” Atemu placed his hand on Yugi’s. “I am free. The puzzle brought us together, bonded us, two completely different souls, working as one.” A finger found the object that rested on Yugi’s finger. “Now this bonds us together.”
Atemu scooted closer to Yugi, making sure not to disturb him of course, but just wanting to snuggle close to his… “Partner, Friend, lover, and husband.” He smiled and kissed Yugi’s cheek before resting on Yugi’s shoulder and nuzzling his neck. “I love you. Yesterday, today, and always.”
Yugi once again shifted, taking a deep breath, his hand moved and intertwined his fingers with Atemu’s. “I love you too.” He whispered softly.
“I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“The pain in my shoulder is what did.” Yugi’s eyes stayed closed but he stuck his tongue out.
“Ha-ha.” Atemu moved more so he was laying on Yugi’s chest then shoulder. “Better?”
Wrapping his arm around Atemu’s shoulder, giving him a small embrace before sighing once more. “Much. Now go back to sleep or I’ll make you cook breakfast in the morning.”
Atemu chuckled. “Yes sir.” He let out one more content sigh before closing his eyes allowing sleep to take over, still holding onto the hand that gave him warmth, comfort, and love.

Random Yugioh ideas/headcanons/au’s and basically things I just usually consider when writing them or ideas I had, mostly the Bakura’s and Ishtar’s Names used for yami’s and Hikari’s: Ryou (Hikari), Bakura (Yami Bakura), Thief (Thief King Bakura), Malik (Hikari), Tau (Yami Marik), Yuugi (Hikari), Yami (Yami Yuugi), Atemu (The pharaoh) Under the cut
if twins the Yami’s are the younger twins not the Hikari’s and usually Malik and Tau (Yami Marik) are usually the youngest despite being tallest. Yami isn’t necessarily always Yuugi’s twin, their the same age but Yuugi’s still just older and they found Yami one day either by him just showing up and them taking him in, or him being taken to Grandpa’s shop by someone who assumes the quiet boy is Yuugi
Thief (Thief King Bakura) is a huge family man, he’s ultra friendly, fluffy, happy and everything else. He’ll definitely hug you and befriend you. He’ll call you little brother or sister or just count you as family regardless, and whilst he holds a large section within himself full of hurt, hatred and everything else. And if he lets it out, you’ll definitely need damage control, so never hurt his family. He’ll be after you and you’ll regret even crossing him. He’s kinda short so it’s easy to just look past him, but he will not lose his second family, he will not allow that to happen. He’s absolutely terrifying when he desires to be, it’s hard to believe sometimes but his friends/family know better
Tau (Yami Marik) is a selective mute, it depends on the situation. (Au wise.) But most part its because of childhood trauma thinking his voice is demonic somewhat, but he’ll talk to you, its just more —more exclusive who he’ll talk to, or in another situation its because he wants to try being whole and in a way hearing his own voice, makes him kinda still feel apart of Malik. Either way he’ll only talk to you if he’s comfortable, otherwise he’ll write, ignore or sign to you. When he does speak, his voice is like venom, it’s always deep and somewhat scary/pissed off sounding or he has a smug amused tone he can use
Tau called Malik’s father Daddy, because the man was so formal, he knew it was damn childish. But it sure enough was a good blow to the man who desired to be called nothing less than father by his children and Master by Rishid (Rishid’s too good for him anyway). So Tau goes around calling him Daddy in the most cutesy childlike tone he can muster. He does so out of mere habit even years after killing the guy
Like Tau Yami (Yami Yuugi) is often silent, he’ll talk a lot to Yuugi. More so than anyone, and he’ll definitely speak up if someone needs defending. He’ll fight for the side he regards are right or for friends. However most times he only otherwise speaks to say things he finds absolutely important to do so, or ask an odd question now and again just about life, Bakura (Yami Bakura) can usually stir up an argument though
If Malik and Tau are twins, and both receive the initiation, unlike Malik, Tau gets demonic wings instead of angel ones
Tau has little to no interest in sex -sorry to people who write him purely as something that just really wants to sleep with Ryou or someone. I think he has more important things to him he needs to think about. Like firstly learning to move on from hate and become a whole person, learning to trust, learning basic human touch, he would much rather what people probably call vanilla things, holding his hand as you walk, leaning on him in movies, sleeping beside him in bed (this one is important because sleep is one of the most vulnerable states a person has and your trusting him), just trusting him, giving the benefit of the doubt, it confuses him but he just adores it. Surprisingly to most, these days when there’s no giant revenge scheme going on he actually really really enjoys the mundane things of life and finally receiving the love and care no one offered him in the first place
Tau changes his name a lot, he’s often concerns himself with being Malik, he does not want to be Malik. Not any more. He’ll let you know when he changes it, sometimes the name can last nothing more then that day, other times it can last months. There’s still one he usually circles back to regardless of all this and most times if others know he’s chosen a name he wants for a while they are more than willing to help him with getting it legally changed regardless of the amount of times they do it
Bakura/Thief have a motherly tendency/urge, Ryou is pretty caring in the sense he can play nurse, but Bakura/Thief have a strong protect my children type thing. They’ll make sure your fed, shower, do your teeth, get some sleep (they were bad at first because they forgot how much sleep someone should get), but all those basic things
Art wise: Ryou: He’s better at writing stories, and draws a chibi like thing now and again Bakura: He draws stick figures, and can’t draw well at all. He gets paint everywhere humanly possible but loves it and is slowly improving Thief: He does either complex Egyptian stuff or finger painting. No in between Malik: Prefers to take photos of other things Tau: He’s basically a professional, mostly avoids too much realism and goes more Manga style. It started as an anger management activity but he found he actually quite enjoyed it and it allowed him to express himself better
Bakura wears hearing aid’s (Au) I don’t really have a reason for why. I just started writing him with bad hearing and I incorporate into their backstory, so Ryou/Bakura’s Mum was completely deaf and thus didn’t hear the horn or any warnings and died in a car accident with Amane. Bakura’s not deaf completely but he does need hearing aids for the rest of his life and he can struggle hearing things too softly spoken or farther away sometimes
Malik is actually very camera shy. He loves taking photos of life to capture everything he was missing out on in childhood on film to keep forever. Except he hates to be in photos himself, he’ll avoid it if humanly possible. I think so because he always hid behind everyone to the very end of his arc, behind each of his minions and then just in the back of others minds, behind his brother and his Yami, stood behind the group going to the last duel, you know? (I mean he was trying to blend in the background during Rishid’s duel but I also don’t think despite his fashion he’s actually a very showy person, he enjoys being dramatic and such but can get put off by too large of crowds. I think this is slightly related to just his upbringing, he was brought up with just his family. So whilst he has a powerful personality, so many people can still be a concern to him. He just tries to not let it get in his way too much if plausible)
Bakura and Malik rely on each other for comfort more than anything just finally having someone there by their sides who has a great pain, something no one will probably ever fully understand. And they can talk about it the other will listen without hesitation, but they also understand you don’t always have to say something
Malik isn’t keen on horror, he’s low key traumatised from flashes of his fathers murder and his back, he respects others like it and can put up to it til a point and jokes about similar things but otherwise he’d prefer not to watch it if possible
Malik and Tau prefer cartoons over realism, it’s easier to understand and just more comforting, even if people comment their watching things way too young for them. F*** those people, they can watch what ever they want
Meat actually makes Malik and Tau sick from the lack of it in their diet so they don’t eat it purely on that basis and that’s how they grew up. No other reasoning behind it
Malik is actually stronger than Yami Marik, and as a villain he actually is one that has the support of family and friends to support this. Just hear me out on the strength thing, sure Tau takes over when he’s mentally torn and worn out. That’s because Malik’s in fact at his worse, usually he’s able to keep Tau locked away within him, so in a fight I do believe Malik would win even if I think Tau would have more visible muscle. Tau’s more about mind games and tricks to assist him
Also Yuugi is stronger than people give him credit for. He may be small and look a tad squishable. But remember he was in a burning building struggling between completing the puzzle, pulling the puzzle, holding onto it whilst his two friends one of which use to be in a gang pulled him desperately from it and he wouldn’t let go. They actually decided they had a better shot of pulling the metal spike out of the concrete or whatever that thing was made from then they did removing an almost passed out Yuugi from his puzzle. So I’d say Yuugi’s pretty damn strong
Hiroto and Ryuji fight over girls constantly but they are basically together and this is just them trying to flirt. Truthfully they can only flirt on those they aren’t actually interested in, they’re masters until it’s someone they like like and then it’s like c*** what do I do which is how they get with each other
Thief is the king of pick up lines, puns, flirting in general. Where Atemu can’t flirt to save his life and he tries hard but its barely recognisable and he almost always screws it up. Thief finds it amusing and loves that he tries. However on the other spectrum. They’ve been dating and living together for like a year now and Thief only just figured out because they were on a date and he said they should go on a date sometime. They’ve been acting as an exclusive couple up til this point, he just honestly didn’t notice it just enjoying the ride
despite dating and Thief going as far as to call Atemu his future hubby before they even get engaged. Sometimes Thief admits that a large part deep within him will always somewhat hate Atemu, and blame him. He’s tried moving on but sometimes it can just fire up. They don’t always talk about it sometimes they don’t just talk and merely sit together or sometimes he just gets upset and Atemu tries to just be there. Not always try to understand or even offer pointless advice more so just be there for Thief regardless And thief will also admit, sometimes he avoids saying Atemu’s name using all his childish nicknames he can make up because of their history. And sometimes even the name can just bring all that back up for him. He truly loves Atemu and it does make him feel guilty or upset but Atemu always reassures him its ok to feel the way he does Just a little bonus note: Thief’s death pack on Atemu has changed, he still declares if Atemu’s to be killed, he’ll be the one to do it. But now more so its, we’ll be together til death does us part and even then he promises Atemu he’ll never be able to get rid of him
Mai is Jonouchi’s big sister (Adopted). She took him in as her little brother and Serenity. They often fight over what’s on tv and she shows Serenity how to put on make-up and perfumes. Goes clothes shopping and stuff. She had a big house growing up but no one to share it with, but now she may not have as big as place but she’s got a proper family
Ryou’s Dad Hideki is the king of dad jokes
Whilst Amane was still alive and a baby, Ryou excitedly took her into school for show and tell. He was really proud of his sister from the day she was born and wanted all to see. In saying that he was protective of her with others, when anyone was around his little sister he was ensuring to watch them with her even falling over a few times from leaning too far to keep an eye on them
Bakura always makes friends by pure accident and he doesn’t realise for ages. Then he freaks out about it. Because. How. When why. What the. But then their his and they are never gonna go anywhere. That or if its where he shares a body with Ryou he does it originally for his own cover, but then after time he starts just going there in general and before he knows it and yes he doesn’t know it he’s friends with the lot of them. Plus sometimes Ryou just taps out with them and at first he got irritated because he didn’t want to deal with that but he doesn’t remember at what point he stopped even noticing if anything it made him happy When he realises he has a huge c*** moment and just takes a few days to process and figure it out in his head
Au Thief, his village did burn down or everyone was killed regardless. He’s still the soul survivor, and going to another town no one knows exactly what to do with him. But they figure out he had an Uncle currently in Egypt. So he’s taken to him, Hideki Bakura. An archaeologist. Hideki takes him back to Japan to meet his other two sons Ryou and Bakura, who he acts as an older brother too now
Thief and Atemu are mostly the shortest, however instead in Au’s. Their usually Yuugi and Ryou’s cousins who had to move in due to other things back home
When Ishizu tries to display things from their home, at the museum. Malik and Tau constantly steal them. With the excuse. ‘It was mine first and you stole it from me.’
Thief is blind in his scarred eye
Bakura’s first name is Florence, and no. This has nothing. NOTHING. To do with the abridged series. Its just his name, he got it from his mother. It was a family name and whilst he often hates it and loves Japan because you can use your last name without question. But no matter how many times he fills the paper work out to change it. He never does, he can’t. Deep down its apart of him and he actually does want to keep it. He likes it. People he’s close to can call him Florence or Flow for short (or Thief calls him Flow Flow)
Yuugi and Bakura like doing puzzles together it’s oddly calming and allows Bakura time to nut out his own thoughts and if either one wishes to speak they are both open minded to what is being said. They listen to piano music a lot during this time
Bakura hates to admit it but he actually really enjoys the mundane things, cooking, doing the washing, things that just remind him he’s alive
When Tau can’t express himself, emotionally or otherwise. Too frustrated or anything like that, he often draws animals to represent people finding it easier to explain that way rather than words, he’s a lion, Ryou’s a bunny, Malik a fox, Bakura a cat, etc. I kinda imagine him drawing them a bit like how they look in Kamy’s animal au. So others know to look for them in his books and if the lion ever looks down it's a good time to start trying to comfort him. Since he’s not always the best and expressing himself verbally he’ll scream maybe but otherwise he often keeps it bottled up somewhat like Malik did when he created him. So Ryou and such know to look at how the lions doing in his books because if its not doing well something might be wrong
Bakura, Yami (Yami Yuugi), Tau, Atemu, Thief and Malik were confused as frig when they were introduced to video games but after learning about them they are get every possible console to play them, in group games like Mario Kart and such, Bakura and Thief might stand in front of Yami or Atemu whilst playing or put his hands out, Malik pokes out his tongue. Thief can not sit still, sure he does try to get in Atemu and Yami’s way, but he still doesn’t always do so on purpose, he jumps up and kicks out, gets on the edge of his seat, jumps off the couch everything. Malik will talk and yell at the game and has been known between him and Tau to throw their controllers at the screen
Ryou gets sea sick easily, Bakura’s really confused at first when he jumps on a boat in Ryou’s body, he’s basically sick the entire time and from then on he knew to take the pills
Malik and Tau can’t swallow pills. They just can’t, they try really hard but their unable to force themselves to swallow and spit them out time and time again, they even try the hide it in your food and it doesn’t work
Thief is a neat freak, and he cleans when he’s pissed off these days. And since all his things are clean and in place he’ll break into his ‘friends’ places and clean and if someone’s home, he’ll rant to them. Atemu often makes a tea and just sits nodding. Whereas others like Bakura, Tau and such will purposefully make messes as he tries to clean so its a contest if they can mess it up faster then he can clean it Malik tells him off for touching his garage because it may look like a mess and sure it probably was but thats how he wanted it and he knew where his things were. Malik made a wall of people not allowed to clean it has two things under it, a note saying ‘ANYONE WHO IS NOT ME MALIK ISHTAR’ and then a photo of Thief which he wrote ‘ESPECIALLY YOU’ beneath beside the note
Diabound is kinda like a vampire, because whilst yes he’s a snake man he’s a snake so your telling me won’t bite anyone, he can fly and instead of turning into a bat he turns into a white snake and slithers up you the hugs warmly around your shoulders as he gets ready to bite (Not really a- anything? Just something I thought about kinda just figured I’d throw it on the end because why not?)
#decided I'd just post them#honestly I don't really think anyone will see these#so all good#yugioh#ygo#still procrastinating doing things#ishtars#malik#marik#apricot#ryou#bakura#yami bakura#I don't take any of these seriously and a lot probably wouldn't work in canon but still#I like them#if you have more feel free to share#if you like one of these in particular feel free to tell me#if you'd like I can put it in a seperate post#sorry for the random spam of my writing and stuff

I actually miss writing for In Plain Sight, I love the au (both the story and the actual, written story with in it).
Problem is, it’s hard to write for. There are a lot of mini plots with Yugi and Atemu I can write, but I have a whole series of novels that Yugi writes to work on as well, and the only stuff I know for that is that they sorta follow the plot of Battle City and Millennium World. Sorta the key word here, considering that there is no tournament and half-assed rpg game that didn’t make any sense, it’s just everyone summoning monsters to either get revenge or save the day)
I’ll try to provide more content in the future, but as I said, it’s not easy to write. I do have something saved in my drafts, but I don’t like what I’ve written so far.
I’ll see what I can do. Or at least come up with more little scenarios and stuff, and even stuff for the side-au where Timaeus exists.

As soon as she sensed him, she straightened, wiping at her face and trying to pretend she was fine. “I... I’m alright, please don’t do anything you’re uncomfortable with, Atemu-chan. I’ll make the tea...” she didn’t, however, push him away. Was she going to lose her fiancé to whatever spell had caused his amnesia? She wouldn’t move in any way without his consent, nor would she force him, it wouldn’t be fair... but she already missed him so much, even though he was right there.
“What are you talking about? Why would I feel uncomfortable- Ow.”
He stepped back, holding his head. It was like he woke from a nap or coma. Shaking his head, he looked around to gain his bearings. Looked simple enough. He was in his house, so why was Mana making tea?
“Ow... my head. Mana? Oh! You’re making tea. Would you like some help? I’m sure I still have some cookies or such in my pantry, give me a minute...”

By Arrangement (Chapter 2)
Chapter 2
Aglaia woke in a slightly better temper. She nibbled at her breakfast tray, ignoring the beef and lentils in favor of the apple and bread. She had heard from her father that the Pharaoh wished for her to spend time with his son, to get to know him. It made sense, but she did not want to spend her days cooped up in the temple-library, learning his language! Nonetheless, it was vital that she learn, for how else would she communicate with him?
Atemu gazed at her for a moment before he returned to the scroll he was studying. He could hear the soft whisper of the ostrich feather fan Mahaado was fanning her with. It was an oddly soothing sound. Despite the early spring weather, the Princess had brought along her servant to fan her, claiming that she was unused to the oppressive heat. Atemu wondered how she would fare when the strong rays of summer came upon the land and Ra’s golden boat drew closer. He still did not know why Mahaado wore hooded robes, but at the moment, he had history to study, and he would at least try to pay attention.
Mahaado watched as the Princess picked up her reed pen, scowling as she attempted to copy the hieroglyphics. How her hand ached to hold a pen, to write upon the thin plaster, to trace those few symbols her mother had shown her as scratches in the dirt. How she ached to learn more of her mother tongue. But she remained silent, and fanned, and listened.
Hours later, the lessons for the day ended. Atemu stretched, as did several of the other students, although the priest in charge of the day’s lesson scowled at them and warned them that if he caught them slacking off, they would feel the rod. Aglaia was ill-tempered from the lesson, as the priest that had been tutoring her had said that a child could have done better. Her body ached despite the many embroidered silk cushions she had sat upon, and she felt sticky with sweat even with the fan.
She retired to her chambers, eager to relax. Atemu had no such recourse. He had further lessons in the courtyard.
Archery was the lesson for the day, and he concentrated as best he could. Although he had a specially made bow because he was too weak to draw the standard ones, every arrow hit its target and the guardsman in charge of practice grunted in approval.
He found his way to the kitchens, wondering if he would see Mahaado again, but he did not, although he did claim a handful of dried dates.
He sensed that she had many secrets, and he ached to unravel them all
Several days passed. That evening, Atemu had reluctantly accompanied Aglaia to the royal gardens. His father had hinted that he was not spending enough time with his betrothed, and so, he had invited her to tour the royal gardens once the heat of day had passed. Aglaia seemed content for the moment, exclaiming over the beautiful blooms, and she had even haltingly managed to say Flower and Beautiful in his language. That was progress.
Mahaado trailed them, a silent shadow. They had paused under a fig tree, laden with flowers, and Aglaia had reached up to pick one for her hair. She had unknowingly disturbed a poisonous serpent in the branches, and Mahaado had shoved the Princess aside, getting bitten herself. Aglaia screamed.
Atemu gasped as the serpent slithered away. He recognized the snake for its poison. If not treated swiftly, such was fatal. Before he knew what he was doing, he had put his mouth to Mahaado’s wound and was sucking out the poison.
“P-Prince…” Mahaado stared at him, wide-eyed. Her hood had fallen back, exposing her shaved head. Atemu ignored it as he kept sucking, before spitting out the poison. Just then, several royal guards came running. Atemu reassured them that he and the Princess were unharmed, and sent several of them to search for the asp and remove it from the royal gardens.
Aglaia finally recovered from her paralysis, and tore a strip of linen from her chiton. She handed it to Atemu to wipe his mouth with.
“Prince, why did you save me?” Mahaado asked, unable to stop herself. As a servant – almost a slave – her life was worth little, and yet Atemu had risked death himself to help her… From that moment on, she swore she would serve him loyally, as she served her Princess.
“Because you are a human, and you bleed, as I bleed.” Atemu said.
Aglaia shook her head in disagreement and said something in Greek.
“This one is only a servant, Prince.” Mahaado translated, looking down. “And it is a servant’s duty to die for their Master.”
Atemu frowned. “And perhaps, in another life, there will be no such things as Masters and Servants, but all will be equal.” He would have said more, but Aglaia turned her back to leave and ordered Mahaado to follow her. The girl obeyed, and Atemu watched her go. Now he had time to wonder why she was bald. Had she committed some heinous crime?
Surely she was not like the women of court, who shaved their heads to wear fine wigs…
And she was thin, far too thin, he thought as he remembered holding her arm. She worked hard, and yet, the Princess did not seem to treat her that well. True, a servant had to serve their master loyally, but Mahaado had saved Aglaia’s life, had she not? And not a single word of thanks…
He would investigate the matter further, he resolved.
The next morning, he woke up extra early so he could wait in the kitchens. His persistence was rewarded, as Mahaado came to prepare a tray of breakfast for the Princess, as she did almost every morning.
Mahaado flushed when she saw Atemu, but he stopped her before she knelt again.
“My Prince…” She swallowed. “I will never be able to repay your kindness, but I will serve you to the best of my ability, as I serve the Princess.”
“Thank you, Mahaado,” Atemu smiled. “I know that you will keep your promise.” He frowned as he studied her. Her loose robes could not hide her slender body or her graceful walk. He noticed her eyes wandering around the trays of food placed within his easy reach, and he saw hunger in them, even as she turned and began to make up a tray for the Princess.
He picked up a handful of honeyed almonds and offered them to her. Mahaado froze; her sea-green eyes wide. She took them with trembling hands and was about to place them on the tray, when Atemu shook his head.
“No, Mahaado,” He smiled. “These are for you.”
“Prince…” She hesitated, clearly torn between hunger and fear. “This food is for the nobles, not for the servants.”
“Eat them,” He said, smiling. “I want you to have them. Must I command you to eat them when you are clearly hungry?”
Mahaado waited for another second, before she thanked him and began to eat. Atemu watched, feeling a pang in his heart. He did not want to see her hungry. He did not know why he cared for this servant, but he offered her salted fish and bread, which she accepted. Too soon, however, she had to leave to bring breakfast to the Princess.
He would see her again, though, at lessons, and for that, he was grateful.
Atemu waved away a fly that had almost settled on his nose as he practiced his penmanship. Priest Fakhir had once been a royal scribe, and he had many strong words to say about the importance of every hieroglyphic, how each stroke must be perfected. He could hear the man lecturing the Princess, as Mahaado translated.
“Why must I learn this?” Aglaia demanded. “When I am Princess, I shall have royal scribes of my own to write for me.”
Priest Fakhir’s eyebrows rose. “And you would place your trust in mere men when the fate of nations can ride on the stroke of a pen?”
Aglaia paused, thinking about the question. Although young, she had seen glimmers of court intrigue and was aware of the power of greed. “No, but I do have a servant who I can trust.” She smiled, although it was not sweet. “Mahaado!”
Mahaado kept fanning, slowly. “What is your command, Princess?”
“This servant will not betray me,” Aglaia said haughtily. “And she is of your country. Teach her instead.”
“A servant,” Priest Fakhir tilted his head to the side, considering the girl. She had intelligent enough eyes, he supposed. And certainly, she already spoke their language. It would be an exception, but there were a few other young women taking lessons, priestesses in training, one who might one day wear the Sennen Tauk. Nonetheless, he refused to stray from the path his Pharaoh had laid out. Akunumkanon wanted a Great Royal Wife for his son, who could rule at his side, the Isis to his Horus, and that demanded not only grace and beauty, but also a keen mind.
“If it is your wish, I shall certainly teach your servant as well, Princess,” Fakhir spoke slowly. “However, it is the Pharaoh’s decree that you progress in your lessons as Atemu does.”
Aglaia felt her temper rising, but she dared not contradict the man further. His stern gaze warned her that such would bring no profit, so she silently vowed she would punish him when she became Queen. Until then, she would endure.
Priest Fakhir brought a reed pen, a cake of black ink, and a sycamore palette covered with a thin layer of plaster to the astonished Mahaado, who was still grasping the ostrich feather fan. “Come with me,” He said abruptly. Mahaado carefully set the fan down as Aglaia called for another slave to come fan her. One brawny young man dressed in a simple shenti quickly obeyed.
Aglaia glared balefully at the hieroglyphics, picked up her pen, and began to write slowly. One day…
Mahaado was still stunned as Priest Fakhir led her into his office. “Before I begin your tutelage, let me test your capability.” He said. Mahaado nodded mutely, still unable to believe her good fortune. Isis must have responded to her prayer! Prince Atemu had fed her, and now she could even attend lessons with the Princess!
Priest Fakhir reached for a scroll. He unwound it, showing Mahaado the hieroglyphics at the top. “Read this to me.”
Mahaado stared for a moment, before she almost whispered out the words. “May Thoth’s baboon protect the royal scribe?”
Priest Fakhir smiled. “So you did have the beginnings of learning. I wondered.” He said no more, but continued to test her on the hieroglyphics. As they proceeded deeper into the scroll, Mahaado faltered, but he did not seem angry. He now knew how to proceed.
She certainly knew more than the Princess, so he would tutor them separately, he decided. And from the expression on her face as he had handed her the writing tools, she would not be a lazy student. That was all he needed to know.
Pharaoh Akunumkanon received the news with slight surprise, but conceded that there was no harm in teaching the Princess’s servant, as long as Priest Fakhir remained competent in his duties to teach those more deserving, the Prince and Princess and future priests and scribes. What was one more servant?
Aglaia retired early that evening, but Mahaado stayed up for several hours, tracing symbols with her pen on the palette, over and over. She had no shrine in her quarters, but she set up a small piece of wood with the symbol of the tyet, the knot of Isis, and offered beer and barley bread to the goddess, in thankfulness.
Morning dawned, and Mahaado woke eagerly, wishing to see the Prince again, and perhaps, along with the Princess’s breakfast, she could bring back a more fitting offering for the goddess. She performed her morning prayers hastily, dressed in a clean robe and headed to the kitchens. To her delight, Atemu was there.
“Mahaado,” He smiled at her, and she hastily bowed.
“Prince,” She replied, almost as an equal, but her eyes were properly lowered to the floor as decorum intended. She should not hunger for more, and yet…
Atemu smiled, and handed her a flat cake made of dried fruit. Such was surely fit for an offering to Isis, as they were similar to the ones dedicated to the temples. She thanked him and tucked it into her robe. He frowned when he saw that she did not eat, and offered her another, which she took gratefully. However, a moment later, Eudora entered the kitchens, frowning when she spotted Mahaado.
“Are you still dawdling, lazy one? The Princess has woken and where is her breakfast?”
Mahaado froze and hastily began to assemble a tray, placing the cake upon it. Eudora, eagle-eyed, had not missed the fact that she was holding it, and would never have allowed her to take it herself.
Atemu frowned, but did not reprimand the elder servant. He would observe, he decided. As Mahaado left with a tray heavily laden, he hoped that she would eat the other cake. He nibbled on the one he had taken for himself.
At lessons, Mahaado looked pale, but Atemu could only spare her a glance, for Priest Labib had caught him when he fumbled one of the lines he had been reciting from the Book of the Dead and was now forcing him to repeat the entire section from memory until he had every word perfect.
He was weary when the lessons ended. If not for the fact that he was Prince, Priest Labib might have beaten him, for he had made several other mistakes. He had seen several of his royal companions smirking at him. No doubt they would have snide remarks to make.
Seto chided Atemu for his distraction, while Karim said nothing. Jalal and Hatim snickered nastily.
“Thinking of your betrothed, Atemu?” Hatim sneered. “She is as a pomegranate blossom in bloom. Small wonder your mind was distracted!”
Atemu refused to answer, knowing that a negative answer would provoke even more questioning while a positive answer would cause them to continue their teasing.
Jalal reached over to ruffle Atemu’s spiky hair. “She may be a fine woman, but will you be a man for her?”
Atemu pulled away, not wishing to quarrel. Those two were the sons of noblemen, and delighted in teasing him. He would not pull rank on them, for his father, the Pharaoh, had warned him years ago that he must fight his own battles.
Aglaia was not pleased, for Priest Fakhir had set a simple exercise for her to copy and had spent almost half an hour working with Mahaado. How dare he waste his time on a mere servant instead of tending to her? But she could not punish him, so when she returned to her quarters, she declared that Mahaado would receive no evening meal for her insolence.
Mahaado bowed low, and turned to leave. Penelope bit her tongue. She knew that Princess Aglaia treated Mahaado harshly, but could not understand why. Nonetheless, she spoke no words, afraid for her own position.
Princess Aglaia then ordered Mahaado to begin her tasks as she took Penelope with her out to visit the royal menagerie, as Atemu had sent an invitation. The servant drew a bucket of water and began to clean the chamber thoroughly, for dust and sand had drifted in through the open windows. Eudora helped, but did not speak. For two hours they toiled, before the room was clean.
Princess Aglaia had not returned, but Mahaado prepared her evening meal from the kitchens, and then set it out for her. She prepared a bath and laid out her clothing. She rarely helped the Princess bathe, for Aglaia preferred Penelope’s gentle hands. When at last the Princess returned, Aglaia dismissed her.
Mahaado returned to her room. Ignoring the grumbling in her stomach, she laid the cake of fruits before Isis, said her prayers, and ate her ration of barley bread and beer.
Perhaps one day, Aglaia would no longer hate her…

captivatedbyaibou:
Atemu didn’t say anything at first, didn’t make any promises that he wouldn’t freak out. He was already starting to internally. He could actually hear his heartbeat racing in his chest and some part of him knew that, that probably showed when he turned his head to look at the other male again, his eyes wider than they had been.
There was one thing that he did know for sure. None of this was normal and what Yugi had to reveal to him wouldn’t be either. He wasn’t quite sure what the boy would say to him, but he was hoping that Yugi could help him make sense of all of this.
“How about, I promise you I’ll try not to,” he replied, opting for honesty.
Were his hands shaking? He felt this weird jittery feeling inside. The feeling was much like when a person had too much caffeine in their system. Or when they had too much energy and didn’t know what to do with it. A look down at his hands showed they were still steady and holding his cup of cooling cocoa.
“I feel like you know something about me that I don’t..”
And only after he said those words did the truth click. Something… Something about him. About that friend of his also named Atemu. But what..?
When he went out, he definitely wasn’t expecting any of this. But he couldn’t deny he’d felt restless, as if there was somewhere he had to be. Was this the reason?
Yugi nodded and took a deep breath. How did he even start this? Especially because he could already see how unsettled he was? Running his hand through his hair he sighed. The beginning he guessed...
“My grandfather used to be an archeologist.” He said. “When I was really little he gave me a puzzle and told me an old wives tale that if I completed it I’d get a wish. And...When I did complete it, I met....a spirit.”
His expression softened, remembering those early days when he thought he just had blackouts. Of discovering the spirit, learning about one another.
“He didn’t know who he was and he would....take control of my body sometimes when stress was high. Like in dueling.” He was leaving out a lot but he figured that was fine. “In the end, we found out his name was...um....Atemu.”
He looked up at him again, voice soft. “He looked like you.”

Find out about Atumu
Under the cut is the answer to 60 fun questions about Atumu. All the answers to the questions you never had.
1: What’s your OCs favorite color?
I don’t think he has a favourite colour, but lately he’s been a fan of the colour blue.
2: Where does your OC work?
As a vagrant, he doesn’t really have a place of work? He’s got plenty of skills, so he can generally fit in about anywhere. However, he doesn’t have any formal schooling or official documentation of qualifications, so like...work is typically hard to get for him. He often finds himself doing either housework or farmwork for room and board.
3: What’s your OCs favorite food?
Oh gosh, all of these questions are so hard for Atumu. He...uh... he has a very bad relationship with food. So It’s hard to say that he has any favourite food? Pretty recently, he’s discovered frozen prepackaged foods like pizza rolls that have made him just about melt. But the only reason he was okay with eating it was because the family he was staying with referred to it as “not real food,” thus leading him to believe it’s not really comestible for the average person, and thus absolving him of the guilt of eating food that might otherwise feed others.
Alternatively, he is the only one who is physically capable of consuming the toxic, noxious waste that his brother cooks. I’m pretty sure he got food poisoning from that though. Either way, he’ll eat it without complaint and say??? believe?? it is good? Don’t know what’s going on in his head, but he’s been told and is convinced it’s good, even if it’s hazardous waste.
4: Does your OC prefer paper or plastic?
5: How old is your OC?
Uhh.....old as balls. Several thousand years old? But he’s got really spotty memory, so he can usually only remember things in the past couple hundred years.
6: Does your OC have any supernatural powers?
UHHHHH!!! Basically everything about him? This will probs be answered in all the other questions.
7: Is your OC in a relationship?
No. [but I like to imagine he has a pretty cute non-canonical quasi-platonic friendship with a certain fellow water lover]
8: What are some of your OCs strengths?
Literally everything? He’s OP as fuck. One notable one that recurs is his cooking ability? He’s very, very, very, very good at cooking and what he cooks is not anything of this world. It’s very good.
9: What are some of your OCs weaknesses?
His...rationality? He has a hard time seeing anything in anyone else’s perspective and he has a pretty darn warped sense or reality, so a lot of his reasoning (though perfectly logical in his head) is tremendously vague and makes no sense to literally anyone else.
10: What is your OCs favorite outfit?
Clothes? That fit. And cover his body.
You’d be surprised how hard that is to come by for him.
He’s a fan of formal wear. But in general he likes clothes that fit well and are comfortable.
11: What animal does your OC relate to?
Idk if he personally relates to them, but I relate them to him. Otters. Moist boys.
12: Is your OC sexually active?
Yes, but not by choice.
13: What is your OCs earliest memory?
Oof, this is a hard one. He’s got that good ol’ spotty memory. I’m sure he gets flashbacks of his childhood as a slave. So if you’re counting when triggered, his earliest memories are probably from the dungeons when he was looking out for both Atamu and Atomu, fighting for survival.
14: Does your OC have a cell phone? If so, what kind?
OH BOY. HE SURE DOES NOT. [not that he’s never had a phone. But phones don’t usually last with this boy.]
15: What makes your OC angry?
It’s been a while since he’s been angry, but I guess it depends on the scenario. He is sometimes short on patience, especially when dealing with people who have harmed his family and are ignorant of the fact. He hates anyone who hurts his family.
16: When is your OCs favorite time of year?
Summer.
17: How long can your OC hold their breath?
Hours. Fucking hours. He’s a hard one to drown.
18: What kind of underwear does your OC wear?
DUDE. ANY. I think he’s usually freeballin’ - but legit. Any. None is also fine.
19: Does your OC prefer plaid or polka dots?
Probably plain? But plaid seems okay. He’s not a picky guy, and clothes that fit don’t come by very frequently.
20: What’s your OCs favorite kind of pizza?
pizza rolls
21: Who is your OCs best friend?
idk if best friend, but most important person in his life is his little brother and God, Atemu.
22: Has your OC ever killed someone?
23: Whats your OCs biggest secret?
That’s a mystery to me too, my friend.
24: What does your OC smell like?
In all likelihood? Dirt.
25: What time of year does your OC prefer?
Didn’t I answer this already? He’s a warm summer day kind of boy. He’s used to the heat.
26: Is your OC a human or an animal? (or something else idk)
He’s....a human........ despite all signs to the contrary
27: What languages does your OC speak?
All of them. Literally all of them.
28: Does your OC like anime?
29: Can your OC swim?
Ha ha ha! His element is literally water. He can swim nonstop for days. He’s fine in the water.
30: What does your OC choose to do about the, er, hair down there?
31: Does your OC believe in fairies?
Doesn’t need to believe in them. He’s interacted with them.
32: Did your OC go to college? What did they major in?
He might have gone to college once or twice over the years? I think before all the bad shenanigans started, he did get a degree in Financing, I believe. But the documentation of all that stuff is long gone, so there’s nothing to formally say he was ever educated in any way. Anyhow, for Atumu, it’s not like he could gain much more imperical knowledge from additional schooling. He might be able to gain some social skills though? Haha, lord knows he needs that.
33: Are your OCs parents dead?
Hella dead. They been dead for thousands of years.
34: Is your OC religious?
Kind of? His brother is kind of...God.... But also there are a lot of canonical gods that also run the universe and beyond - but you don’t need to believe in them. They’re just. Around. He does believe his brother is his God though.
35: How flexible is your OC?
36: What turns your OC on?
37: What was your OCs first word?
gosh idk. I don’t think anyone was there to take note.
38: Does your OC have any pets?
Does his little brother count?
39: Who is your OCs biggest enemy?
Not necessarily enemy but let’s see. Atamu is currently the self-declared mortal enemy? Just hates Tumu with a burning passion of a thousand suns. But the anger and hatred is unreciprocated. Yumi is his clone whose purpose was to kill and replace him.. originally. He’s since let that objective go, and they’re pretty good bros now. Real enemies/bad guys in the story might be the President (though he’s just hungry for knowledge and not necessarily evil... he’s just kind of evil). Governments in general seem to be the biggest enemy of Atumu and the gang, as they are the source of most of their woes.
40: What is the craziest thing your OC has done?
UM... WELL. Take a fucking pick.
He’s been strung to a helicopter by a rubber band. He’s been a lawyer against his own brother (my fave arc of his actually). He has gone through an entire junkyard trying to find the pieces of a Portuguese robot version of his brother. He’s been the mate of a nest of nagas. He’s been vivisected (oh boy yeah, forgot about that one). He’s been experimented on by multiple governments...multiple times. He’s made coconut ice cream (wild, I know).
He’s got lots of adventures, so take a fuckin pick, babes.
41: What is your OCs motto about life?
“How can I be of use?”
42: Does your OC drink coffee or tea?
He’ll drink whatever you give him, but he prefers water.
43: Who is your OCs biggest hero?
I don’t think he looks up to anyone (haha physically he can’t really - geddit - cuz he’s a giant).
44: What color eyes does your OC have?
Super green.
45: Does your OC like reading?
Not sure if he likes it so much. He doesn’t really read for pleasure. He’s pretty well read though. Knows them encyclopaedias and dictionaries and science and math textbooks cover to cover. That good reading.
46: Is your OC loyal?
Would die for you. Has died for you already probably.
47: Does your OC tolerate violence?
Yeah.
48: What social class is your OC from?
He’s a slave... but like. He could’ve been king. He could’ve been God. Probably should’ve been God.
49: What country was your OC born in?
Egypt.
50: Does your OC cry easily?
Nah. Seldom if ever.
51: What is your OCs favorite genre of music?
He doesn’t know too much about music nowadays. But he’s pretty good with like. Instruments. That you can play. With your hands or mouth, you know. Doesn’t know much about synthesizers or electronic stuff or fancy cool effects.
52: How does your OC feel about insects?
He’s alright with them? They’re a good source of protein?
53: What is your OCs sexual orientation?
He’s sexually oriented away.
54: Does your OC smoke?
Used to? It’s been several hundred years, I feel like, since he’s had a smoke. But he’s not opposed to smoking. Just never really gets the chance.
55: What gender is your OC?
Male.
56: What kind of clothes does your OC wear?
He’ll wear anything he comes across. Anything you give him to wear. He doesn’t really know what’s “with the times” though. So even though he might feel embarrassed wearing some stuff, he’ll trust you if you tell him that it’s a normal thing for him to wear.
But given the choice, he likes really to wear loose fitting comfortable clothes cuz he doesn’t really have clothes his size. If he could get well fit formal clothes, he does like that.
57: Would you call your OC adventurous?
Dude, all he does is go on adventures. Idk if this means he’s brave or like? Willing to go on adventures? Nah, it’s just...he kind of has to. Some people choose adventure. Some have adventure thrust upon them. Atumu is the latter.
58: Is your OC introverted or extroverted?
He’s an ambivert? He won’t try too hard to put himself out there socially, esp because he’s pretty socially clueless. But also he doesn’t really have social anxiety at all, so if he’s not talking, it’s not because he’s shy or nervous. He’s just... there’s no reason he needs to approach you.
59: What is the first thing that someone would notice about your OC?
His height? His physique? And then probably his eyes - they’re hard not to notice.
60: Does your OC enjoy nature?
He sure spends a lot of time in it... spending months walking through deserts... weeks in tundras... some days in rain forests...
Lastly: in Arabic - اتومو

I know that the DOMA arc isn’t canon in the Millennium World novels by Yugi, but that doesn’t stop him from doing something with fanfiction for them.
So let’s... try to figure out what happens with the characters and the plot...
-Okay, obviously Heba and Atem are in this, as are Seth and Jono cause we need the legendary knights’ duelists, duh
-Sorta starts out the same are the season? Some crazy magic shit happens and the Egyptian gods are stolen (or maybe in this case, they’re ‘sealed’). Atem does a shadow duel with this one one-shot villain who uses a strange piece of papyrus, throwing it onto the field, creating the seal (cause there are no card games in this, everyone fights with giant ass rocks)
-Anyway, okay, moving on from there, gotta figure out what to do with Raphael, Valon, and Alistair. It makes a lot more sense for Alistair to deal with war, cause, come on, conquest and war was normal in the Mediterranean (OOOOOH! What if he’s from one of the normal enemies of Khemet! Or maybe from the Sea People that we know so little about... wait, were they allies or enemies...? Enemies, but they were first recorded in the 19th dynasty, and this is the 18th... who cares, it’s a fucking fanfic)
-Moving along, crazy shit happens and HERE COMES THE DRAGONS!
-More crazy shit, something happens and Myia is corrupted (oh God, I’m so having Isis being in this)
-More crazy shit, now we come to the duel of Raphael and Atem, which Heba trying to get involved, but he’s kept out of the seal when Atem gives into his darkness and is the one to throw the parchment onto the field. When his soul is meant to be taken, Heba breaks through (thanks to his charm) and shoves Atem aside, instead, he is taken and now Atem sorta just... “MY MOOOON!!!”
-I’m not sure how the duel with Haga would go down (knowing me, this little bitch is an annoyance in the series that Yugi threw in cause Weevil would be this god awful, know-it-all he met in college that was in almost all of Yugi’s classes. Ryuzaki was sorta dragged into this, for some reason. He’s not bad, but he liked to give Joey a hard time in college so Joey requested he’d be a pest in the books). Anyway, I’d like to think their battle happens on a cliff side, and HOOOLLLLYYYY SHIT. Okay. Okay. Here me out. The souls can be placed on either stone or parchment in this, and just like in canon, Haga holds up a slip of paper, saying it holds Heba’s soul, and just fucking... rips it. Atem just sorta... snaps. Like. There is no going back after this. He summons Breaker in his rage and just tears into him.
-Then the cliff collapses under them, taking Atem, a dead Haga (cause his soul is gone), and Teana down into a river
-Then we got the stuff with Chris and Ironheart
-EPISODE 163! How do I do this? Uhh... okay! Atem goes into the valley of lost souls, and there, he sees Heba appear. Sorta the same deal as in the show, and Heba is furious, crimson eyes and everything. They duel, but oddly enough, the first moves are identical, but it’s a trick, to put Atem into a false sense of security. Then he plays the seal, and John gets his badass mofo Heba in this cause that’s what he’s making this au of an au of an au for. Duel goes on, I’m not sure if he’s using BMG in this or Silent Magician, but anyway, the attack is deflected with a spell, and then the gay ending happens with Heba in Atem’s arms, smiling, saying that he’ll always be there with him... and then Atem screams into the sky, saying he’ll save him, no matter what it takes
-Btw, Atem is totally wearing Heba’s charm. And if you’re wondering where his body is, it’s left with Rebekka as she’s traveling with some of the others to come help and to watch over her friend for Atem.
-Find out about the Battle of Atlantis, hey look, Timaeus got a fucking sword to the eye! (fun fact: 4Kids didn’t censor that moment, you actually see blood!)
-Crazy shit happens for Seth with Alistair (how would his spirit monsters work? Maybe they’re chariots or something?)
-Then they go to another kingdom where things are fucking nuts cause Dartz has control over things
-Jono duels to save Myia against Valon
-Myia duels Jono and Isis (who came just in time to try and save her lover, but it taken out after Jono passes out and loses his duel)
-Myia is free, but at what cost? She hurt her dear friend and her lover is dead, and she finds out that her little brother has been captured. Now she’s pissed
-Raphael beats her and duels Atem
-Crazy shit happens, Atem win and Raphael deux ex machina’s the seal (HOW)
-Crazy shit, crazy shit, crazy shit, HERE COMES THE LONG AS FUCK DUEL
-Seth dies
-Atem summons the legendary knights (Yugi wonders if he can convince Atemu to dye his hair silver and sea green cause that would be hot)
-Dartz is sort of defeated, Heba, Jono, and Seth are saved, here comes some more shit
-Fight, fight, fight!
-Atem summons the gods with Heba’s help and BOOM! Atlantis is saved. World is saved. Wash, rinse, repeat.
-Everyone goes home
-Yugi makes a comment in his fanfic that this got really out of hand and he didn’t care, he just wanted to make his boyfriend into a hot, one-eyed knight.

@starmaiden777 wanted baby Atemu trying on Mahado or his father’s clothes, and I can’t resist
--
Tiny feet pitter pattered on the stone floors of the palace as Atemu happily ran through a hall, looking for his best friend. The four year old found Mahado’s chambers, but he didn’t see the young mage in training anywhere.
Pouting, Atemu walked around the room, opening jars and pots, woven baskets, drawers, even looking under the bed to find Mahado. He sniffed, rubbing at his nose before he looked in another drawer, finding fabric inside.
“Ah!” He grinned, pulling out the fine, white silks, it was one of Mahado’s outfits, one of the ones he trained in!
Giggling to himself, the little prince removed his skirt, before attempting to put on the skirt for Mahado’s outfit, only to find that it was too big. Okay, maybe the top will work!
He slipped it on over his head, finding that it was big, but it covered him up enough that it would work. Next, he went looking for a headdress to put on, which was also too big, but he didn’t care.
On Mahado’s desk was a scribe’s pen, which Atemu happily took, deciding to use it as a wand. He grabbed the half-finished scroll off the desk and looked it over, only knowing a select few of symbols, and even them, they were just the ones to spell his name.
He giggled and loudly pretended to say some nonsense spell that didn’t make sense, it just sounded like one of the ones Mahado would say in his training sessions with his master.
He waved the writing pen about as he pretended to cast a spell, running around the room, yelling the names of monsters he knew of thanks to his father and Siamun.
A soft chuckle caught his attention and he stopped, seeing Mahdo in the doorway, smiling at him. “And just what do you think you’re doing, little prince?”
“Bein’ you!” Atemu grinned, rushing over to hug his older friend. “Play wit’ me!”
“Well... I do have to train...” Mahado frowned, noticing the big pout of his friend’s face, oh no, the big wet eyes... the mage was weak to this boy’s charms. “But that is not for a while, we can play until then.” He got a happy cheer from Atemu, but quickly told him to at least change back into his clothes so that his own would not get dirtied up more than he had already made them.

Wendigo
Approximate height: 7”4’ feet
Identity: unknown
Keen sense of smell but mostly relies on its terrible sight. Can be warded off by remaining silent and inanimate.
It is strong. It is fast. You cannot outrun it.
Has a nasty habit of hanging corpses from its antlers.
Green, humanlike eyes.
Can surprise you because of its silent movements and camouflaged body. Never assume a tree is just a tree.
While the witch was peeling a crust from an old wound, Atemu looked up with a huff. “Its eyes... weren’t green.”
Yuugi tried to remember. Now that he mentioned it, the eyes in Yuugi’s memory were indeed, not green, but a rich amber.
“That son of a bi-“ He turned back to the door and covered his mouth in thought. The mask lifted little with his hand fixing its posture. He needed a more comfortable one. Yami purred for attention as he got up from his sleeping place beneath the table, surprising Atemu, who stupidly catapulted himself into the nearest wall.
“Holy shit what’s that thing doing here!?”
Yami looked offended, squinted his eyes at their rude guest and crossed his arm. “I live here.”
“It can talk!”
“Will you two be quiet gods- so annoying I swear-“ Yuugi was trying to find a certain thing in one of his many other books. Books that were hard to come by. Books that belonged in musea.
Of course! Of course the wendigo could make others just like it!
Sherrif Keith was now stalking the woods in search of human flesh- wasn’t that just his luck?
“He should go home I don’t like him.”
“Be quiet Yami. We have bigger problems now on our mind.”
“I’ll be glad to leave this wretched place any time soon!”
Yuugi was becoming irritated.
“Nobody is fucking leaving this house until I said so. You go out in those woods now, that thing is going to track your bodily fluids down to either here or your house, so if you want to stay alive, you’ll listen.”
That got both of them quiet. The cat went to lay near the fire, enjoying the warmth it gave off, and Atemu went to sit back at the table, where he previously had sat to investigate the catalogue of monsters.
Hellhounds. Floxyl. Wendigo. Werewolves and timber-wood-wolves. Tatzulwurm. The shades and their darklings. The yowee. Probably most creatures you could find in the forest were crammed inside this book. Atemu couldn’t remember what was standing on the last page once he had flipped over to the next page. There was a boar that would freeze a grown man temporarily without failing if direct eye contact was made.
The yowee was an ape-like monster, that preyed on people’s pets and other animals within the forest. Another creature Atemu couldn’t wrap his head around was a blue, tall looking man, orange eyes taking in half of the face, sharp, elongated teeth the other half. It wore torn clothing, was immensely thin and had long claws coming out of its fingers.
He was confused why some of them looked so human like, or like another creature and yet were totally not what they first appeared.
“The one you’re looking for.... Keith. I have reason to believe he is the wendigo we saw.”
“You mean barely escaped,” Atemu corrected, Yuugi clicked his tongue.
“Are you listening?”
“I am, but what makes you think I am entitled to believe you?”
“I just saved your ass, do you really think I have a reason to lie? If I wanted you dead I would have left you in the woods with your pants full of piss,” He growled, stomping his foot on the ground twice in anger.
The detective looked down and pressed his lips. Yuugi knew it was just hard to believe a human you formerly knew had become something.... awful.
Come to think of that, he still had to pay those three a visit.
Yami let out a chuckle. He couldn’t help but laugh. Yuugi wanted to glare at him but with the mask on, it would barely get translated. He groaned and walked over to the back of his cottage where he could get rid of the face-pain-maker without Atemu seeing any details. All he would be able to see was the black hole in the face.
But he was staring at the witch. It didn’t really matter if he found out it was face-paint. As long as Yuugi didn’t get recognised he didn’t care.
“How... earm....” The human tilted his head with interest. “How do you... talk...”
Yuugi smiled. He was brave now wasn’t he? Let’s play around a little and see exactly how brave.
The witch came closer, facing the man who struggled to get up and out between the picnic table and the bench, falling over. The critter leaned over him, helping him back on his feet by pulling hum up by the arm. And then, Yuugi held the man’s hand. His eyes were like floating orbs against the dark paint.
Atemu breathed fast, nervous. He balled a fist as Yuugi pulled the hand towards his ‘mouth,’ only to feel something against his hand all of a sudden. A cheek. His hand opened, and his thumb found an eyelid.
Surprisingly he put his other hand in between Yuugi’s eyes and found a nose.
“Human...” He exclaimed.
“I mean I could, you know, change into this,” He shrugged, “But honestly the spell is too much work for what its worth. I need to look presentable if I wanna buy food at the store you know?”
Atemu yanked his hands back and moved his head from left to right, trying to figure out wether it was an illusion or not.
“You’d do me a great deed if you don’t arrest me after this whole thing is over,” He bargains, “I’ll even clean up my face and tell you my name.”
“Wh-why-what- what- no! You’ve been terrorising the town for months with your stupid witchcraft!” Atemu growled back.
“I’ll admit that some of my spells may have caused a death or two. I’m not stupid. But it’s hard enough keeping things like wendigos and timber-wood-wolves out of the town and people out of the damn forest!”
Atemu blinked. He blinked again trying to understand the witch’s intention.
Sure, he liked to terrorise adults, just like Yami, but he could never hurt kids- ... Unlike... Yami.
And now?
They wait?
Atemu turns back to the book, says nothing for a while as Yuugi retreated to the back of his cottage and fell down on the bed. He was exhausted, but it was going to be a long night yet.
Yami stretched and wandered around the cabin, unnerving Atemu until the cat was bold enough to look what was inside his bag. The detective snatched the bag away, but the cat had latched onto it and pushed the man’s face away as he spilled the contents onto the floor.
“Hey!” Atemu shouted angrily, trying to pick up the mess and stuff it back into the bag. Yami however was just as fast to grab whatever looked like food to him and fetched it back to his master whom was watching the both of them.
“Stop neglecting your basic needs,” He scolded Yuugi, who only rolled his eyes and accepted the food but did not intend to eat it. Until Atemu sighed and waved a had at him with disinterest, signing that he didn’t care if he was hungry and ate the food.
Being a fulltime witch didn’t exactly earn you the money like an average job did, of course.
“You eat a lot of energy and protein bars.”
“I was just well prepared to spend a day investigating the woods.”
“I bet you spend time at the gym working out. Maybe next time I should join you.”
Atemu’s eyes widened and he turned to face the witch, Yami looking just as surprised.
“Are you- Are you hitting on me?” He was bold enough to ask. Yuugi couldn’t help to grin, and his white teeth against the dark paint were nothing but unnerving. Even Yami visibly shivered. A face within a black gaping mouth, what a horribly frightful sight.
“Of course not my dear Atemu. I merely want to train myself up in hopes to ever be in your kind of league.”

A terrible work of art Chapter 1
He grinned as his pet met his outstretched hand. His fingers sliding through its dark fur. “Patience Yami,” He encourages the cat-like creature to stay calm. They were expecting a guest after all. He didnt want his prised familiar to get shot. Not again.
“You know I hate it when you wear that thing.”
Yuugi looked surprised behind the wooden mask. “Its eyes creep me out,” The familiar elaborates as he lifted a little to see Yuugi’s smirk. “I’ll remember not to get sheep if I ever wanted to become a shepherd,” he jokingly said. Yami definitely agreed.
They did not need their guest to know their identity, for now.
Yami had noticed the man looking for them the moment he had entered the forest. It was a fearless man, seeking justice, or he was just an idiot, looking for the truth.
Like many before him, he could get swallowed within the dark woods of the forest. But Yuugi felt like that would be inappropriate. Especially with him being the lead of a running investigation.
“Well then, it is time my pet, for our entree,” The witch announced, raising to his feet and leaving the sanctuary of their hiding place. It wasn’t hard at all to find the idiotic man just walking around the forest like a traveler without a compass.
He ended up walking in circles, each one bigger than the other. Or perhaps it was a technique the man was using, hoping to find something.
But what? A clue? A body?
There was no body. Yuugi had made sure of that. But in the dark of the shadow, and his horribly mangled fur-coat, he doubted the man would ever know who he was outside the woods.
He took Atemu by surprise, appearing in the corner of his eye like that, but then again, that was planned.
“Something tells be you are looking for something. Or is it someone? I assure you, if you leave the forest now, you won’t find out what happened to them. Consider it a good thing.” He warned the detective.
“I do not abide to your threats. What have you done to officer Keith?”
Yuugi held up his hands in defence. Hands blackened by dark magic, with chipped nails from the awful weather conditions they had to endure. Wind nor rain stopped the witch’s reign.
“Why is it you are looking for him?”
“The truth. I want to know what happened.”
“Not for justice?” The witch inquired, head tilting ever so slightly. Atemu looked down at the forest floor for a minute, when he looked back up, the witch was standing closer now, and it unnerved him. The finer details of the mask were enlightened, and he took a step back. Not because he was going to run away, he had come this far, but apprehension was never a bad quality.
“No. He deserved it after what he did to the cat. Even if it ate a child, and gutting it was the only way to save the kid, he didn’t have to go dragging its body around like it had been terrorising the town for months…”
Yuugi grinned. He knew of a group that was rather fond of his pet. Yami never hurt the people. But creeping them out was such a thrill and Yuugi couldn’t deny him the fun of it.
“I see… Well… Let’s just say what happened to poor Sheriff Keith was just karma.”
“A bit too coincidental I think,” Atemu retorted. Yuugi growled at the accusation. He had nothing to do with the human disappearing! Why wouldn’t the detective get that through his thick skull?
His now unwelcome guest became bold, pointing at him in an offensive manner. “I know you have something to do with this missing persons case. As soon as I have the evidence, I will get you arrested.”
“Thick luck for me half of the town believes I’m not real since they don’t know my identity,” Yuugi mumbled, more to himself than the other. Atemu scoffed and briskly questioned the witch with a now confident smirk, “Did you know its so much easier to make something believable if it has a face? Why don’t we start with yours!”
He made a move to snatch the wooden mask from the witch, who evaded smoothly by pulling his body back, but the human kicked his legs, making the necromancer fall backwards onto the earth. With the detective now struggling to keep him on the ground, he was glad he had come up with a plan b just in case.
The investigator ripped the mask from his face, except, to Atemu there was no face. There was a black, gaping hole, with teeth surrounding the dark hole that was its mouth. Two eyes were floating against the back of the throat.
He screamed, standing up and running away, before turning around to see the witch was fixing the mask back on. “What the hell are-“
Something within the woods creaked. Like a tree had decided to come to life, pull out its roots from the ground and start walking. But this was no tree. It was a long, outstretched limb, several parts of the skin having torn, and no foot at the end, rather a badly grown toenail shaped like a hoof. It stood there for a moment, not moving. Yuugi could feel dread trickling down his spine.
It couldn’t be. It didn’t come out during the day- and certainly not this close to the town!
But yet here it was, with its awful moaning and groaning sounding like a human in peril. It must have heard the scream. One of its arms grasped a nearby tree, its limb gushing through the air as it reached the destination. And then appeared the skull. The deer skull its head had been crammed onto, with eyeballs popping out of the sockets.
Yuugi knew, from experience, that the wendigo had terrible eyesight. And a keen sense of smell. He had only one vantage point. If he stayed still and kept quiet, it wouldn’t notice him.
But Atemu. Oh Atemu was scared beyond belief. Had been the biggest skeptic in town until he had seen the cat-man himself. If he had stayed skeptic he wouldn’t have come looking for the witch, and now he had pissed himself in fear unable to move a muscle. But the witch could see he was going to scream again, and acted fast. His hand moved over to the man’s mouth, telling him not to make a sound.
Of course, that the creature had heard, and it whirred its head into their direction, eyeballs turning to face forwards, clean antlers swinging back and jolting its head a little. Did it have a spring cleaning?
It neared, moss covered body lowering towards them, mouth opening with a screech, Atemu pressing himself against the witch who held him from behind, and then-
“Mbèèèhh!”
The wendigo choked itself and reared its head away, seeing the white pelt of the witch’s coat. The mask stared back deep into its right eyeball, before it straightened up, and slowly paced away, groaning in disappointment that it had only found a sheep.
Now to deal with pissypants
Wether he liked it or not, once it is out of range, Yuugi takes Atemu to his cottage. Lets the man into his house in the woods which has been protected against creatures with an evil will.
Then again Yuugi was not the purest of mind either.
He guided the poor man out of the red woods, into the safe forest upon the hill, where more light was able to get through the foliage.
He forced the man out of his pants for the completely wrong reasons. Everyone knew Atemu Sennen was both single and good-looking. It was an honest shame he thought of the witch as an enemy.
“Hey… Witch…” He asked, trying to fit himself into a pair of pants the necromancer had given him.
“Keep it.” He was getting irritated with having to wear the mask for so long. If he put it off, Atemu would surely notice that he had only used vanta-black to cover his face and create the illusion he was inhuman. The teeth were nothing more than animal fangs he had put together on a string and glued around his face.
“No I-… That thing….”
“‘Sa wendigo,” Yuugi faced his direction with an irritated snap. Honestly, he didn’t know what a wendigo was? He tapped his foot for a moment, looking at the underwear-pant-less man who was wearing one of his trousers, and then sighed, turned around, and grabbed his book, chucking it in Atemu’s direction, making it land on the picnic table near him.
The man hesitantly approached the table, sat down, and slowly opened the book, as if expecting a bat to fly out and attack his face, only to come face to face with a picture of the witch himself.
“Don’t look at that,” Yuugi scolded, making him quickly turn the page.
Another picture, with a title, that louded “Yami”.
Yami.
Dubbed: The cat(man)
Species: Feline
Intelligence: Average human IQ
Favorite person: Me
Favorite thing to do: Me Scaring people
There were pictures of the cat all over the two pages, some of them taken with the witch wearing a different mask.
One where the cat’s clawed hand covered the face, only leaving place for an eye to show peeking through the fingers.
“Do I classify as a thing to you too mr Sennen?”
The human looked up in surprise. How did Yuugi know his name? Why that was Yuugi’s little secret of course. His guest shook his head and quickly paged through the book, eyes widening further at the drawings that were found within it. Sometimes there was an obscure picture of the thing referenced, blurry or far in the distance. He came to a stop when he found a near exact drawing of the creature he had seen.

officialgrandpa replied to your post “Send me Atemu prompts? He’s my favorite to write and I’m up for more...”
kaiba takes him to the observatory? maybe atem ends up on his shoulders bc hes just a bean :0c ?
*kicks down a door*
GRANDPA HOLY SHIT!!!
I completely forgot I was suppose to write something about this before! Thank you for the reminder!
(Btw, this is included in the same au as the one with Jounouchi and Atemu’s dates to the zoo and aquarium)
--
“I’m surprised you didn’t bring your loyal bloodhound with you today.” Kaiba commented as he saw Atemu approach him, having just watched the former king get dropped off by his adopted grandfather.
Atemu just stuck out his tongue at the brunet for the comment, but a smile came to his lips as he looked up at the building. “So! This is the Domino Observatory and Planetarium, yes?”
“That’s what the sign says, come on, you look ready to explode with joy.” Kaiba rolled his eyes, heading for the doors, with Atemu happily trailing behind him.
Kaiba had offered to take Atemu here because one, Kaiba Corp was associated with it, and two, this guy knew next to nothing about astronomy outside of very ancient stuff, and Kaiba wanted to have him updated with the modern world as much as possible.
Stepping inside, Kaiba flashed his Kaiba Corp. ID to the woman at the front desk, mentioning he was here with a guest and that they were going to take a look around. She told them that there was a show happening in fifteen minutes in the planetarium and Atemu perked up.
“Come on, let’s go see the show, I want to see what it is.”
“Probably something dumbed down for children.” Kaiba rolled his eyes once again. “Or, because we’re here in the evening, we’ll get stuck watching a laser rock show, and I don’t want to sit through that shit.” He pushed Atemu towards the doors, walking inside with him. There were already a few people inside, a couple of kids with their parents, some guy by himself, and a group of teenagers.
The teens noticed them, quickly chatting to each other in an excited way as Kaiba ignored them, taking a seat up front of the round theater. Atemu grinned, waving at the teens, before joining Kaiba, a bit surprised to find that the seat leaned back. “Sooo... why are we in the middle area? Why is the theater circled?” Atemu asked, glancing around.
“Because the show is on the ceiling.” The taller duelist pointed upwards. “You lean back and watch whatever show they present.”
“Oh, that makes sense.”
As they waited for the show to begin, one of the teenagers approached Atemu, asking for a quick duel. He got defeated quickly, but he enjoyed the duel, saying it was an honor to duel the King of Games. Atemu told him it was fun, ignoring the snort from his companion for the day.
As the kid returned to his seat, the dim lights went off completely and the theater was in complete darkness.
A voice suddenly rang out in the room as the ceiling showed glowing specks of light, the voice began to tell them about the constellations. As the narrator spoke, Atemu kept leaning over, pointing out what constellations were what when he was pharaoh.
The voice spoke of the Greek ones, but Atemu kept saying which ones they were in Egypt, like how Orion was actually Osiris, which got a laugh from him when Kaiba said ‘Excuse you, that man looks nothing like fierce dragon that has two mouths and kicked my ass’.
The show went on for about thirty minutes or so before it ended, and Kaiba and Atemu left, the latter was excited, happily chatting with Kaiba about what they had just seen.
The taller duelist walked with the smaller one, showing him pictures and small exhibits they had in the building. Atemu liked the images of galaxies and planets, and the moon rocks were really cool to see, same with the miniature models of space crafts, but what really got his attention was the observation room
He gasped, seeing the telescope that was used for studying. “Can... can I look through that?!” He asked, looking like a child right now.
Kaiba shrugged, telling him to go as the astronomer on staff.
Atemu gleefully approached, asking if he could look at something in the sky. The woman blinked, before seeing Kaiba, getting a nod from him. “Sure, what would you like to see?” She smiled.
“Can you show me the moon?”
She nodded, setting up the coordinates on her computer, before stepping aside to let him look. The problem with this was... well... Atemu was slightly shorter than where the eye piece was stationed. “Uhh... a little help...?” He mumbled towards Kaiba.
He did NOT like the smirk that came to Kaiba’s lips as he briskly approached, picking Atemu up off the ground. “Don’t you dare tell a soul.”
“Are you jealous that I’ve got over a foot on you?”
“Just let me look at the damn moon, Kaiba.” He huffed, ignoring the chuckle as Kaiba helped him look through the eye piece. He gasped, staring at the mostly-full moon, he could see so much detail!
It was beautiful, it was amazing, it was... okay, damnit, Kaiba just pressed his face on the eye piece and now his glasses just smooshed against his eyelids.
“You did that on purpose.”
“I don’t know what you mean, Mutou.”
“My glasses are smudged.”
“Seems like that’s a problem you brought on yourself.”
“You know I can kick you in the shins right now, right? Or would you rather take your chances to see if I can get you in the groin.” Kaiba snorted. “Do it, and I drop you.”
Atemu pouted a bit. “I’m just gonna let Katsuya take me places from now on.”
“Do you want to look at Venus, it’s rising right now and I’m sure it looks nice since the sky is clear.”
“Mmm... okay, but let me clean my glasses first!”
“Nope! It’s the glasses or Venus, I’m not holding you up again, for a scrawny kid, you’re dead weight.”
“Suck it, Kaiba!”
--
The planetarium is based on the one located on my campus (which also happens to be a dinosaur museum!), but the observatory is... based on my own imagination cause I don’t know how they function, I’ve never been on one before haha.
I ended this on a silly note cause that’s how I almost always end these things, and it’s Atemu and Kaiba, they’re ridiculous. And sorry! I couldn’t get him on his shoulders, but I can try again in the future!

I’m all for the idea that Atemu has a better sense of fashion than Yugi (he even mentions in canon that Yugi doesn’t have one), but I am more into the idea that it is Atemu who doesn’t have a sense of fashion.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, this guy can accessorize better than anyone, and his make up is always on point, but he doesn’t know what clothes go together on him.
He is the kinda person who will wear styles that don’t match, colors that clash, and fabrics that you really shouldn’t mix. He doesn’t care, and even if you tell him, he’ll just say its his style, this is how he rolls.
He’s also the same kinda person who will always mix-match his socks. No pair of socks is with the correct one, they are always mixed up, and he doesn’t care. He will even purposely mix them up if you try to fix them.
Yugi has to make sure he at least leaves the house in something decent, but if he’s just staying home? Who cares, Atemu can walk around in whatever he wants. Nice dress shirt with sweats that have tears in them? As long as he’s comfortable and not going anywhere, it’s all good.

captivatedbyaibou:
The world didn’t know he existed? How was that possible? It had been so obvious to him that Yugi’s friend was there. If a person took away the similar, but still not identical hair, the two looked completely different. Then there was the fact that the voices were different too. In fact Yugi’s friend’s voice sounded very similar to Atemu’s own deeper timbre.
“I’m just Atemu Sennen.. I just assumed the world knew and that I heard it from somewhere.. I don’t know how I know if that’s not the case..” he replied, putting his hands up to show he wasn’t a threat and to placate the other boy.
His first instinct was to do that, to show he meant no harm, probably from the look that Yugi was giving him. Near panic if he had to define it. But beyond that, his own mind was starting to whirl with the revelations that he was being told.
The world didn’t know about this friend of Yugi’s. That explained why people always referred to that other guy as Yugi.. If they knew that the two were different, would the public have demanded to know his name..?
His name..
…Atemu..
Yugi had been so sure that he was his friend and had first concluded it because he’d given his name. The same name as Yugi’s friend.. Atemu himself had commented to himself on occasion that he and the friend could have been twins..
Suddenly he wasn’t feeling all that well.. He would have just written it off and called it all nothing but a bizarre coincidence.. If not for how Yugi was reacting now.
“Yugi..who was he..? That friend of yours..”
Yugi watched him, probably looking absolutely crazy with the rambling he was doing but he could see the wheels turning in this mans head. Trying to make sense of it. Trying to logic it away. But he wasn’t saying who told him.
And he looked like he was growing more and more confused.
Was there hope?
The problem was if he wasn’t already looking pretty insane, explaining who this friend was would definitely make him look it.
“He...” Yugi bit his lip, trying to decide how to word this.
“He was someone very dear to me. I can’t...I don’t know how to explain who he was without you wanting to check me into a clinic somewhere after. But I’ve seen some crazy things in my life, been through them. Do you promise not to freak out?”
