Your main hobby is scheming and you’ve had at least one intensely homoerotic rivalry in your life. You get away with crimes but only because they’re funny. Either the best or the worst fashion taste, possibly both at the same time.
At first I was like WHAAAAT
but like, it suits me tbh
hi everyone take my quiz <3
#Sure I'll scheme and lie#At least I get a minimum of one intensely homoerotic rivalry#And my fashion taste can only be described as 'eclectic'#it tracks#the teeth tho#OH! How many earrings do you think you can fit on a ferengi's ear?

The creator of the show even admits that there were implications he didn’t mean to put there in the scene where buck sees Eddie for the first time 😂😂 ain’t that always the way. These men writing super gay shit and then being like they’re not gay they’re deep emotional friends lol which can happen but also 😑
Yeah 😂😂 for me it very much feels like a generational gap like a lot of those writers have grown up (even if they're queer!) in a super heteronormative context where m/f romance can be built up with the most minimum effort and be considered valid (like omg they looked at each other!) whereas same-gender relationships, no matter how intense, homoerotic, intimate, touchy-feely, emotionally close, symbolically mirrored, etc - can never be read the same. Within heteronormative parameters, these don't share a language ; these writers write as if those charged scenes between men are more likely to be read as jokes, rivalry, or at most "bromance". Often the queer reading doesn't even cross their minds.
And then you have younger generations, who have grown up online and in very queer fandoms, reading queer fanfic, used to reading queer pairings with the same level of center-focus and language as straight ones, to whom these denials are going to appear kind of ridiculous and maybe even ill-intentioned, even if it isn't necessarily the case.
I think this shift is very good honestly, and I think older writers should get with the program and at least accept that, no matter what their intentions are, when you draw a triangle on top of a square ppl are going to see a house (courtesy of that great tiktok I can't find) bc this is how culture works now. Sure, intense and emotionally expressive friendships between men are good but I don't feel they're rare. Give me good deep rich slow burn queer pairings AND intense m/f friendships that remain platonic and THEN we can talk, until then that argument will sound like an excuse to me tbh.
And yeah that scene is like...super gay idk how they didn't see that lmao
