The internet is littered with “Sports Entertainment” vs. “Pro Wrestling” discussion, and I’ve always been of the mind that the perfect show is never just one thing. WWE goes too blown sports entertainment for my tastes, and AEW tends to be too early 00s message board smart mark pro wrestling. To me, a great wrestling show has room for a Misawa vs. Kobashi match, and Crash Holly Hardcore Title shenanigans, you know?

I’m not sure I LOVE professional wrestling anymore, but I certainly still really like it. It’s just not the same business I grew up with, and that’s okay. Pro wrestling is predicated on constant evolution; catering to what the audience wants in a time and place. You will never find me being a bitter old man, saying wrestling is shit these days. Do I think the modern product could benefit on implementing some ideas from days gone by? Absolutely. But you’re never going to find me completely shitting on it. Each generation offers something knew to the entire ideology that is professional wrestling.
