Which Redwall Villains could've won their fights, Part 1
Does anybody else feel a little proud when one of the Redwall villains puts up a good fight in the Climax? Considering how often they just end up getting killed accidentally by falling into a hole or being killed by something getting dropped on them, it's nice seeing them do a decent job. So I'm gonna see which ones had an actual chance of winning.
In 1 on 1 duels, this is pretty straight forward, but for fights where they flee due to numbers, I'll go off of a win/loss ratio depending on how many they could beat individually, as if they had managed to split them up. No tricks, just their regular weapons.
The first one that comes to mind is, of course, Cluny the Scourge. Perhaps one of the only fights in the Series where the Combatants were well-matched. Of course, though Matthias was buffed by Martin's spirit, he still wasn't quite up to snuff. If it hadn't been for his quick thinking, Cluny probably would've become ruler of Mossflower. At least until the Long Patrol showed up. That's a point to the vermin.
I wonder who the Badger Lord/Lady was at the time? Mara, perhaps? I doubt she would still be around.
Tsarmina severely injured Martin, but she still fled like a coward and drowned. Even if she didn't flee, Martin would've won anyway though he might've died in the process. Point to the Redwallers due to Martin's Chad energy overpowering her mind.
Honestly, Slagar didn't have any options other than running when the Gang started chasing him. But he still died like a chump. Got bitten by Asmodeus Poisonteeth and survived, but died because he forgot fall damage was a thing. Even if he could fight any of them one-on-one, he'd lose 3/5 of those fights. Because Cheek is a kid, and if Slagar is good at anything, it's beating those up. Jabez Stump is just kind of a guy. Slagar was always more of a schemer than a fighter. Point to the Redwallers, due to being completely outclassed by Matthias the Warrior, Orlando the Axe, and Basil Stag Hare.
Gabool the Wild was gonna die, no matter what happened here. Much like Slagar, he also had no other choice but to run. Also alike to Slagar, he also fell into a hole, but this time he died because he got killed by the Scorpion lurking in that pit. That was the first time a Villain accidentally died by their own hand. He still gets a better score in the win/loss ratio because I think he has a better chance of taking on any member of the Group individually. About 2/3, since Mariel, Dandin, and Durry are still inexperienced. Joseph, much like Jabez, is just a guy. Rawnblade and Tarquin, though? Tarquin might have invested in bard stuff, but he's still Long Patrol. He could probably kill him. That's gonna be a point to the Vermin.
Total Vermin Points: 2
Total Redwaller Points: 2
Point Ratio: 1 to 1.
See ya in Part 2.

Who do you think would win in a fight- Ublaz Mad-Eyes or Asmodeus Poisonteeth?
Such a good question!
I'm pooling all my money on Asmodeus. As soon as the staring contest ends, Ublaz stands no chance!

Well... if he wasn’t busy being Emperor of Sampetra, maybe Ublaz could make a career of getting rid of snakes for other creatures who hired him to do so...
That might be how he came to Sampetra in the first place!!! I should write a fic about that!
Who do you think would win in a fight- Ublaz Mad-Eyes or Asmodeus Poisonteeth?
They would have a stare contest of epic proportions!
I feel Ublaz has the edge if he catches Asmo in his gaze, as he has plenty of experience hypnotising venemous snakes. But Asmodeus is massive and deadly so if he can avoid Mad-Eyes' mad eyes he'll win easily.

okay but in light of 1) my redwall binge and 2) Asmodeus being the demon of lust while Poisonteeth is probably more prideful than anything else, I present the definitive sin-to-serpent guide* with an eye for ssssibilant names
Lust/Asmodeus: machete snake, solely and specifically because of @fimbry 's horny boy.
Gluttony/Phagos: woma python. no contest.
Pride/Superbia: getting into bizarro territory, but I nominate the green anaconda just for sheer confidence. you can step on an adult female green anaconda and she will just look at you like you're a moron. she cares nothing for humans.
Sloth/Acedia: gaboon viper. this is not an insult, they are so perfect they can afford to be pizza pies.
Envy/Phthonus: californian legless lizard. not only am I hilarious, but some of them are even green.
Greed/Plutus: this one is solely based on vibes but I think copperheads have a lot of secrets they could share but instead they just bask about it. they're allowed to though because I love them.
Wrath/Sathanas: there's probably a lot of very good candidates for this one but I'm picking the northern water snake because getting chased by a six inch bootlace for daring to pull him out of the koi pond was pretty funny. sir humans are giant and we could have stepped on you what are you doing.
thank you for your consideration I will now accept any suggestions or more importantly agreement for being objectively correct

“Demons exist within the mind and soul. The unnamable, indescribable fears and desires that lurk in the pit of human subconscious… To understand these demons, we name them. The Babylonians called upon Ashtaroth and Asmodeus. Hebrews feared Lilith and Leviathan. Hindus guarded against Rahu and Az-Azam. Medieval sorcerers invoked Belphegor and Pephimit. In the fictional universe of H. P. Lovecraft, the unwary crossed paths with Yog-Sothoth, Hastur the Unspeakable and the ultimate horror: Great God Cthulhu.” - Christopher Lee.
This quote comes from “100 Years of Horror” episode “Demons.” This documentary series was hosted by Christopher Lee himself and I couldn’t help but take the lines of the quote and put them to pictures of animated works. I must admit my hearing isn’t too good at the moment and Youtube’s subtitles aren’t up to standards so with “Az-Azam” and “Pephimit” I was taking a wild guess.
The first picture comes from “The Legend of Korea” because if I were to choose something to embody the human subconscious it would be the Spirit World.
The second part comes from the animated adaptation of “Redwall.” With Asmodeus Poisonteeth being named after the demon it was only natural.
The third comes from “Atlantis: The Last Empire.” A use of a picture of the Leviathan should be self-explanatory.
The fourth comes from “The Lion King.” As Rahu’s mount is a black lion, I wish Numa el Adrea would have appeared in an animated adaptation of the Tarzan stories but I was, alas, forced to rely on the black-maned Scar.
The fifth comes from “Voltron: Legendary Defender.” Zarkon certainly looks like something a medieval sorcerer would invoke.
The sixth comes from the animated series “Justice League.” As the writers didn’t realize that the works of Lovecraft were public domain, I felt it was only natural that Icthultu serve as Cthulhu.
