Dean’s hands are always on her. That’s a set in stone rule.

His fingers always find a way to glue themselves onto her body somehow. Whether it be holding her hand, resting his on top of her thigh whenever he’s driving, etc.

His lips? Similar story, but so much more delicate.

It’s such a contrast — his rough, calloused hands feel good against her skin. They’re scarred, but protective and firm. Solid and strong.

Much unlike his kisses, which are so gentle, so soft, like an angel’s feather brushing her soul.

Even when the kiss is deep and passionate, there’s always something careful in his ministrations. As if he’s afraid to break her or stain her with his touch.

Dean loves kissing her.

To him that’s the equivalent of breathing. Her taste more essential than oxygen itself.

Feeling her mouth against his is as addictive as pecking her cheek, her temple, any and every inch of her body.

If he had to pick a favorite spot, he’d say it’s a tie between her nose and the corner of her mouth.

If possible, he’d do it 24/7, the same way he’s trying to with touching her.

He doesn’t need his mouth to speak or even smile or frown. The whole purpose of his lips, his tongue, his teeth are worshipping his girl.

It’s what he was made for.

Especially at night, in the sweetest limbo of pillow talk and falling asleep, his lips graze her forehead and he’s holding her close. It almost tickles, like her lashes do when they’re fluttering against her cheekbones, heavy and drowsy with fatigue.

Dean’s chaste pecks draw an invisible line across her hairline, like a halo. His warm breath weaves sweet dreams into her hair, whispering sweet nothings until she relaxes in his arms.

2024 fic roundup

Can I just create an ask game? I wanted to create a snapshot for 2024 for me, and would love to hear from others, so I’m going to interview myself like a loon.

What fandoms do you write in?

Good Omens! Aziraphale/Crowley!

And I wrote one for the tiny fandom of The House in the Cerulean Sea. Linus/Arthur 4ever.

How many words have you published in 2024?

This is a tricky one. My official total is 270,737 words but three of those were collabs. So if I count the fics that only I wrote it’s 117,911. Which is still a bit mind-blowing to me, as I only started doing this Nov 2023.

What is your greatest achievement this year?

It has to probably be my first ever longfic over 50k. I set myself a goal to write something long and follow the beats of a classic romcom. And I did it! It was really me muddling through it trying to work out what the Hell I was doing. But it exists and some people even said they liked it, so I count that as a win. 

It’s called The Apple Doesn't Fall Far and it’s about Crowley inheriting a cottage from his aunt and butting heads with Aziraphale the councillor who is in charge of knocking it down. And spoiler alert. They fall in love

What are your favourite top three fics you wrote this year?

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far - as above!

It’s sugary sweet with enough light angst to create some nice drama. But it’s mainly cosy, low stakes, comfortable, contemporary British romance vibes.

In 1941 Aziraphale and Crowley imagine their life as humans.

This fic fell out of me almost fully formed. I was half asleep and began daydreaming fic (as you do) and by the time I got to my laptop, my fingers wrote it in basically a couple of hours. It is everything I love. Bittersweet, yearning, them being completely in love but unable to do anything about it, slow dancing, almost kisses and some spice!

What was your biggest pit of despair moment?

The Ecstacy of Eden was a slog at times. I had written chap one and three, but it took so long for me to get chap two into shape. I couldn’t work out what the Hell I was doing. Got beta feedback where they could tell I was clearly feeling really stuck after I wrote it because it was all a bit lacklustre. 

Almost totally gave up. I had a few: I’m never writing again, what’s the point? moments.

Somehow I pushed through and made it work. 

In a lot of ways, that was probably the moment I saw my writing improve the most. BUT IT WAS A HORRIBLE SLOG. Ugh. I wanted to say this because I know we all have them and it’s good to talk about it!

What have you learned?

Honestly, how to use commas better! I can already tell my grammar has improved a lot from when I first started. I don’t rely on epithets as much. I know what semi-colons are for (thanks @fishey-me!)

I am getting better at letting fics breathe. I feel like my background in marketing and comms makes me want to write very precisely and I am slowly learning to cast that off and take time setting scenes. I also found a few tools to help me outline better.

They’ve been invaluable in teaching me what the Hell I’m doing. My main takeaways - work out your character's flaws and work out the theme of the story. 

I also learned what sex pollen is and then wrote a 30k fic about it.

What fic did you want to do but never made it off the ground?

Ugh, I have one in my drive called Crowley and Aziraphale go on holiday. I imagined it as a canon-compliant fic post S2 where they go on a sort of make-or-break holiday. I just liked the idea of Crowley being all grouchy in the sun and Aziraphale awkwardly trying to flirt over Sangria. ALSO only one bed! But it sort of sits in my drafts and I’ve not done much with it. 

Did you beta any fics? Any favs you want to shout out?

YES. Many fics!

But I think I’ll have to give my biggest shout-out to @kneelbeforeyourdogbabylon for Sins of Knowledge! I’ve help beta more than 100k of that (wow) and it’s a wild ride. Go check it out. 

What three fics have you read this year that you love?

Listen I have tons and tons I’d love to recommend, but I am going to whittle it down!

First up it has to be @happynachohologram who surprised me on my birthday with not only their first ever fic, but basically one of the best South Downs retirement fics ever. I still think about it. It’s under 2k and it’s absolutely beautiful.

What ideas are percolating for next year?

I think my next longfic is probably going to be a road trip with college-aged Az and Crowley. The characters keep yelling at me in my head, so I think they want to be written. So far Crowley is an activist punk who needs a lift back to London after graduation and Aziraphale is a posh boy who represents everything Crowley stands against.

Animosity to lovers my beloved!

It’s probably set in the 90s so no one has a mobile phone and Crowley can be obnoxious with a box of cassettes playing Az a bunch of bebop he pretends to hate. I have a scene of Crowley taking Aziraphale to his first gay bar in my head that I can’t get rid of, so I probably need to write it.

2024 Fic Writer End of Year Roundup

1. How many words did you publish on AO3 in 2024? 619,247... with the way A03 calculates I don't think that's entirely accurate but that's what it says... I would take off 225k and guess it's more around 350-400k

2. How many fics did you complete this year?

18, those event weeks really had a chokehold on me

3. How many in progress or ongoing fics did you start this year?

I have only posted a couple of WIP this year. I have stared at least 20 more, but have yet to post anything on them. Hopefully, I will have them all organized by this evening so I can start with my 2025 goals of getting them all done or at least well on their way!

4. What was your favorite thing you wrote?

I had the best time with What We Deserve!! It has to go at the top of the list.

Honorable mention would be Mother Save Us From Your Twisted fate just because it came out of nowhere and I think I started the first part and finished it in a day or two like a madman and posted without really giving it a second look. Truly a fic of strange passion.

5. What piece was your most experimental or different from your usual style?

probably Lighthouse in the Woods. Exploring a poly dynamic in a fic I didn't originally intend to be poly was an interesting choice for my brain lol but a fun and rewarding challenge!

6. Did any fics surprise you - either while writing or their reception?

Under the Weeping Beech shocked me just because it demanded I write it but there was very little reward with how sad it is. Y'all know I love sad angsty shit but I always seem to find a way to make everything ok in the end. Not so much this time but I simply couldn't make myself write it any other way. This was how it was supposed to be

7. Do you have a fic you wrote and loved that went under the radar? (This is your sign to reblog/repost it!)

Everything kind of went how I expected it to this year, but a fic that went under MY OWN PERSONAL RADAR was When Even Moonlight Burns. I adore the outline but couldn't make myself get serious about it this year. I'm waiting for my depraved self to rise to the surface for that one. It needs to be a beautiful disgrace

8. Who is an artist that inspired you?

I'm not sure I could name anyone without naming EVERYONE. If you have created Azris, you're on this list.

@queercontrarian inspires me daily with her work. Her attention to detail and the fashion work in her pieces are notches on my bones, that's how permanently they have changed me. I find myself staring at them for entirely too long to be appropriate and keep coming back to revisit my favorites!

@elleybug has a vision for her art that speaks to me on a cellular level. Every single piece supplies me with endless amounts of emotion that just make me want to create and create and create!

9. Who is an author that inspired you?

This question is really testing my memory because every time I read something I get inspired. All of you are just too damn good so if I forget to tag you it's only because I am stupid or I simply haven't been able to get to your amazing work yet BUT I WILL... and not because you don't belong on this list!!!

12. What accomplishments are you proudest of?

Everything I managed to finish lol. I was worried it would be nothing at all!

13. What did you learn about writing or creating this year?

I work best when I am just dishing out what's been gnawing at me, and trying to participate in too much just for the sake of it was too draining!

14. Any advice you’d like to share with new or aspiring writers?

It's fanfic, take the pressure OFF and just write the thing! If there is a story in your heart you really want to have exist in the world, you need to get it out and let it breathe! Don't focus on numbers or style or craft while you're just getting started. Have fun and create because you NEED to, everything else can come later.

15. What are your creative goals for 2025?

I have approx 12347576412 projects I would like to get written... I'm here to mass produce simply because I can't keep up with my brain. LOL. But truly if I can get one full multichapter fic completed this year I will be very happy!

"is there someone you will never forget"

Definitely the guy i met with for a hookup that got evicted mid hookup.

He told me to meet him at his house and when i got there he was not even home yet so i waited outside for 15 minutes because i give people a lot of chances. He apologized over text and told me to go over to the cafe near his place where i got an extremely overpriced and mediocre latte (was like $7 CAD). Another 15-20 minutes later he showed up in a huff and we went to his place. His house was full of garbage bags and boxes with almost no furniture. He took me over to the couch where there was dust bunnies the size of my fist all over the floor. In my mind ive now decided im not going to sleep with this guy. He went in to put his arm around me on the couch and was like "im a DJ btw let me show you some of my favourite stuff" and he put on probably some of the worst electronic music ive ever heard. We sat there in awkward silence song after song and each time he asked me if i liked them. I lied and said yeah to be nice. After a few songs he asked if i wanted to shower with him specifying that he had no clean towels so we could dry off with some of his old clothes. As politely as possible i wormed out of it saying i had already showered before getting there and texted my friend in a mad flurry as he went to shower to update them incase this guy decided to murder me or something (he was nice but you never know i guess).

He gets back and asks if i want to go to his bed, walking into his room it is a bare mattress on the dusty ground with only a single old worn dresser in the room. I say oh no.... Im alright... As im trying to think of excuses to leave early he takes me back to the couch and put on the tv show The Expanse. Halfway into an episode he gets a call and over the course of it is visibly more upset. He hangs up then tells me with tears in his eyes that his landlord told him he needs to be out by the end of the week. It was so shocking and confusing i wasnt sure what to say and gave him a hug apologizing asking if hes okay and he said maybe i should go so i got out of there as fast as possible and have not talked to him since.

Let's start simple. Jaki Whisperwind. Her Arcanum scholar.

A:  Jaki was a wise and kind mentor. Someone The Wizard was thankful for when her time graduating Ravenwood left her with nothing to push her forward. Needing order again in her life and taking that opportunity with the offer of becoming an Arcanum Initiate. She wouldn't have changed it for the world. 

So all in all their relationship in her view of things was close. Someone she heavily relied on and a role model she wanted to follow in the footsteps of. Jaki seemed confident, able to keep so many ties across the ship and outside it. The Wizard hoped that one day she could have as many bonds to rely on and care for. She just had a lot of bad luck in keeping those bonds and was never sure why.

Here we go!

1: I have severe social anxiety – even having a conversation with someone brings up great levels of stress because I’m afraid I’m going to say the wrong thing/do the wrong thing/insult them and risk of them never speaking to me again. I realize that a lot of this is in my head, but it’s a very real daily struggle.

2: I’m a musician

3: most of you who’s read my stuff probably know this by now, but for those who don’t – I am autistic 

4: the same food every single day until my hyper fixation wears off and then I obsess over a different meal for another few months

5: I was a makeup artist. Am?? Was?? Still not sure.

* running out of things to share; starting to worry if I’m getting boring *

6: love plants very much, but currently am only caring for one (his name’s Babar - thinking of getting him a fish to keep him company)

7: I used to paint (mostly acrylics, pencil and watercolors) - want to start again, but can’t afford to keep up with supplies right now. Trying to learn how to paint digitally.

8: I’ve already named my future dog

9: I loathe summertime and I’m sad that autumn is not like it used to be (global warming)

9: A work from another creator you keep coming back to

There are MANY, but I wanna point out three in particular that have really stuck with me throughout the last couple of months! I always look forward to @zepskies uploading and I get so thrilled seeing her in my notifications whenever she does! If I had to pick just one of Alex's amazing pieces, I'd have to go with the "The Honorable Choice" Series. She's created such a vivid world with that AU, I love the OC, I love the setting (and that's coming from someone who usually doesn't care much about Western AUs at all!), and you can really tell how much research went into this. This is peak historical fiction to me, with an eye to detail and the effort to create an authentic story. The fact that there's a podfic version is just the cherry on top for me! I cannot wait to dive back into this world with the upcoming sequel "Outlander", so excited! <3 @kaleldobrev's Old Man / Age Gap Universe is DELICIOUS! My favorite part is definitely "Old Man", in which he gets so brutally humbled and also reassured. The dynamic between Dean and Reader in this whole Universe is so fun and endearing. I have the softest of soft spots for grumpy Dean and this is very much giving grumpy x sunshine. I can also highly recommend "The 15 Year Problem Sequel Series" Last but not least, there's @wildwestdean's one-shot "repose" -- am I biased with this one, because it's based on my request? But seriously, it's so well written and I definitely reread it over and over again whenever I suffer through cramps, or a cough, or when I'm just feeling under the weather. It's truly the comfort fic for me!

I'm pretty sure I've said it before, and if I haven't on Tumblr, I want to make this very clear: I cannot shut up about @floralscented's Hades & Persephone retelling "Life Unto Death" <3 The language is so very poetic and rich and dark and I just want to eat it up and drown myself in it forever. I have recommended this in multiple Discord servers, even to friends of mine who are not in the Supernatural fandom. This one is just BEAUTIFUL, literally! The image of Dean kneeling in front of her, on HIS throne is deeply engraved into my soul. Those who know me know I live and breathe Royal!AUs and this definitely gives me that vibe - a King and his Queen, chef's kiss

7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate

Oh so many. There are art mediums I wish I could work with but don't have near enough patience to do.

The first two that come to mind are oil paints and 3D sculpture. Those couldn't be anymore different, but once I watched a series of videos of someone building a furry sculpture from scratch and I felt like I was witnessing a god working.

Oohh hmm... I feel like thats a hard question to ask on Tumblr- and the internet in general. It's a very common issue where artists pour their heart and soul into a piece only for the shitpost you made in 30 minutes to get astronomically more attention
