A coalition including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PLM-N) and the Pakistan People’s party (PPP) have agreed to form the next government of Pakistan, ensuring that the party of former prime minister Imran Khan will not take power despite getting the most votes in the election.

At a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday night, it was confirmed that the rival parties had agreed, with two smaller coalition partners, to form a joint government “to take Pakistan out of difficulty” and that PLM-N’s president, Shehbaz Sharif, would be their sole nominee for prime minister.

Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party hit out at the coalition, calling them “mandate thieves”.

The announcement followed days of wrangling and political horse-trading after Pakistan’s election last week dramatically delivered the most votes – but not enough for a majority – to PTI, despite military opposition and a state-led crackdown.

Nasla Tower’s pre-demolition work stopped

The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) was stopped from carrying out the pre-demolition work of Nasla Tower over safety concerns.

The SBCA had initiated the work on the directives of Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon, however, Ferozabad Assistant Commissioner Asma Batool stopped it on the grounds of safety concerns.

“The demolition process has been stopped for a while because of the safety concerns of the passers-by,” she said, adding that huge blocks fell on the road during the demolition of the building.

She said that without proper safety measures, no demolition could take place because it could cause damage to human lives. After consulting with the high-ups, the demolition work would resume, she added. Earlier, the anti-encroachment police of the Sindh Board of Revenue cordoned off the building, following which the SBCA’s demolition squad kicked off the pre-demolition work.

District East Deputy Commissioner Asif Jan Siddiqui told the media that the tower’s doors and windows were being removed. He said the anti-encroachment police had been summoned to maintain law and order in the area.

“Initially, removal of windows and doors of the building will take place,” said Siddiqui, adding that there had not been any decision regarding the issuance of a tender for the proper demolition of the building.

He said that until a decision was made regarding controlled blast or manual demolition of the residential-cum- commercial tower, it would be destroyed according to the normal procedure.

Firms interested in demolishing the Nasla Tower are required to submit a cost estimate. On Wednesday, the six companies that had submitted proposals for the demolition of Nasla Tower to an eight-member committee were requested to submit their respective demolition costs.

Asif Jan Siddiqui, the committee’s chairman, that the final report on the building’s demolition would be submitted to the commissioner on Friday (tomorrow), since interested firms were required to submit the final cost of demolition on Thursday (today).

Maryam, who has a keen interest in finding out more about the Hindu religion, chose to go through the entire book on her own and tried understanding the shlokas and the moral of the stories explained in each chapter. The victory of the Muslim girl in a competition about Hindu Holy Scriptures has been widely reported by the media, and shared by the public.

"Met my young friend Maryam Asif Siddiqui... Maryam's interest in various religions is an inspiration to all Indians," Modi ji said on Twitter. Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi Ji gifted her five books on different religions.  Even politicians have noticed her surprising achievement. She was honoured by Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Uttar Pradesh then Chief Minister Shri Akhilesh Yadav, felicitated her as a symbol of religious harmony.

The Book “Bhagwat Geeta Girl Maryam” will be a source of inspiration for others, especially children. It will motivate them towards brotherhood and national integrity. This is the best example of brotherhood and national unity. This book also sets an example that if every child of our society will become educated, the boundaries of religion and castes will help them in achieving the goal of better India. They will create the country, free of violence in the name of religion.

The Book is written and Edited by Dr. Rupal Agarwal and Harsh Vardhan Agarwal. Book is published by Help U Educational and Charitable Trust.
