How To Identify Fake Vs Genuine Branded Asian Food Products
Authentic Asian food brands are becoming increasingly popular in the western world, with many shoppers opting for these products over more traditional European or American brands. Unfortunately, there is a growing problem of fake food brands being sold on the market.
These days, we live in a world of counterfeit goods, from handbags and cosmetics to phones and electronics. Unfortunately, knock-off Asian food items are no exception. As these fraudulent goods become increasingly difficult to identify without an expert eye or extensive research, consumers around the world need to know how to properly differentiate between genuine and food fraud products.
In this article, we will discuss how you can recognize the difference between fake and genuine so that you can make an informed decision before buying anything. We'll explain some key tips on how to stay aware of potential fakes while online shopping or in your local store.
Check for authentic labels and packaging
One of the first things to look for when determining the authenticity of Asian food brands is the label and packaging. Genuine brands will have accurate labels with all the necessary information, such as ingredients, usage directions, manufacturing dates, etc. Imitation products may have inaccurate or missing labels, or they may be printed on low-quality paper or materials. When in doubt, always double-check the label against an online source or contact the manufacturer directly. In addition, anti-counterfeit labels may also be present on genuine products.
Look for quality ingredients
Another way to spot fake brands is by looking at the ingredients list. Genuine usually contains high quality ingredients that are sourced from reputable supply chains. Fake products may contain bad ingredients that are not as nutritious or flavorful.
Reading the ingredients list carefully can help you make sure that you’re getting the real deal. Additionally, plant-based or vegan versions of Asian foods may also be available for those who are looking for healthier options.
Avoid unfamiliar brands
If you come across a brand of Asian food that you’ve never heard of before, it’s best to be cautious and avoid buying them. It could be a genuine product, but there’s also a chance that it could be counterfeit. Stick with brand names that have been around for many years and have a good reputation in the industry.
Examine the price
Fake Southeast Asian food products are usually sold at a much lower price than genuine ones. While there may be some legitimate deals out there, always check the price against other retailers to make sure that it’s not too good to be true.
Ice cream, fly by jing , and frozen meals are some of the most common items that are counterfeited. Be sure to compare prices before buying any of these items. If you find an unusually low-priced item, it could be a sign that it’s counterfeit. Furthermore, small batches of genuine products may be sold at a discount, but keep an eye out for any suspiciously low prices.
Buy from reputable stores
To ensure that you’re getting genuine products is to only buy from reputable grocery stores and websites. Make sure to read customer reviews before making any purchases and avoid buying from unknown sources. Asian, American, or international stores are all possible sources of genuine products.
In summary, it’s important to be aware of the differences between genuine and fake branded Asian food products so that you can make an informed decision before buying anything. By following these tips, you can be sure that you’re getting the real deal and not a counterfeit product.

I like when you're at the grocery store and an employee spots something in your cart that they're obsessed with and they ask, "have you tried this before?" and when you say yes they get a conspiratorial smile on their face and tell you it's SOOOOOOO good and that they always buy some when it's in stock

For shopping trips, what’s your favorite place to shop or favorite thing to shop for? What do you hate about shopping or where do you hate shopping
Munday Asks!
Pardon my French, but... I fucking hate shopping. I despise it with every fiber of my being. Even before I got more anxious in public spaces, I hated it! Clothes shopping? The literal worst. Hell will be me stuck clothes shopping in a store where nothing fits.
But that's kinda part of it - trying on clothes is hot work. The little rooms you're stuffed in to try things on just hold that heat in, and you're putting things on, taking them off, putting them on, taking them off. I end up hot and sweaty and frustrated and then walk out with what, one pair of jeans and a couple shirts?? For like 45 minutes of pulling tight pants on and off repeatedly?? Fuck that.
Now you tack on how shitty the general populous is, and all the screaming children, the misbehaving children, the people who won't wear masks to prevent the spread of a deadly disease, the Karens I have to watch abuse people just like me... shopping is not an enjoyable experience for me. PLUS I have to spend money at the end, ugh (I'm finally in a place where I'm above the poverty line! But most of my life I haven't been... so it sucked even more to be broke and have to clothes shop.)
So... online shopping is easier, for the most part - as long as brands' measurements match what they tell you. I actually have to take several things to the mall this week to go get one size larger because their measurements I used... ended up being wrong, and the things I bought were all too small. Except I followed their measurement guide... /sigh.
Anywho, the only kind of shopping I think I actually like, is when I'm shopping for new enamel pins for my collection, on Etsy! :D
#thanks for asking!#shopping#and don't get me started on the grocery store#my poor partner goes alone - but he does the cooking anyways so he knows what he wants#it's always been weird as a woman to be told that 'women like shopping' and have that kinda forced down my throat#that's one of the many 'feminine' things I do not vibe with whatsoever#and if someone's child starts SCREAMING or making incredibly obnoxious sounds with toys I will have a meltdown myself#it overwhelms me VERY quickly - make your kids behave or I will embarass you for your bad parenting >_>#I *do* think going to the Asian market near me is fun! But that's often just getting food and I love food xD

Taking care of Sick Geto
Geto Suguru x Reader
"Geto let go I'm gonna pee" You said as you tried shaking geto off, it's been around 8 hours ever since both of you found out that geto is sick.
After that it's like you are trapped in a cage since geto wanted to hug you all day. "Nooo.. Can you hold it for a minute?" he murmured in your chest as he held you waist a bit tighter which makes you wanna take a pee more.
"I'm sweating bullets, it's already hot and you decided to hug me.." You tried reasoning as you try to shake of from his arms, "Not my fault you looks so huggable" He said as he readjusted his arms almost hitting the bowl from the night table that is filled with soup from earlier morning that you made so the medicine will be more effective for him.
Once geto re adjusted you took the advantage to get up from the bed which made the bed rise a little.
You and getou's shared house is not too fancy like those houses you find on pinterest, but sure is cozy and warm that makes you feel really welcome. A type of house that you will be comfortable to have a sleep over with, pantries filled with foods and snacks that geto sure will be nagging about when both of you are out for grocery, those neat looking kitchen that those Asian moms would love.
The living room that kids love because of those consoles and games that geto own, it's a safe place for both of you when all you just wanted was to hug each other while watching.
"I think I'm gonna die.." Geto said looking at you as he was sitting on the floor on the door of the bathroom like a kid as you do your business on the bathroom, "You're not don't worry." You said as you are scrolling through your phone.
"what's taking you so long? Are you shitting?" he nagged you again while giggling, his voice is a bit deeper, more raspy and airy than his normal voice. You always tease him about that because you said that he sound like a kid Justin bieber.
"Maybe you wouldn't know." You shrugged as you wash your self up and flushed the toilet really quick so geto wouldn't even try to take a peak, "Ewww it stinks" Geto acted as he pinch his nose as you walk by.
"Stop acting, you won't act like that later on when you couldn't breath on your other nostril." You said as you headed down stairs to make both of you a meal, this will be the third time that both of you eat. It's very rare for both of you to eat more than three time a day, you guys only did this when either both of you are sick.
Geto followed you like a lost kid as he walk lazily around the house, "I'm not feeling vegetables right now" he complained as he sat down near the stove so he will still be near you.
"Then don't eat, might as well make your cold worse." You stated as you started chopping the vegetables as geto sang lazily to the song you played, it's a habit of you to play music while cooking. Geto remembers the time when he wasn't sick he would dance around just to annoy you or just to enjoy the time with you.
You remembered the time where geto memorized the whole choreo of water by tyla just for you to watch him dance the whole song.
Your mind didn't have the capacity of a phone nor the smartest person on earth. But you remember every detail of it, you remember how much he made you so happy, how much effort he did just to make you laugh after a very busy and stressful week.
"God you're so beautiful.." Geto whispered as you looked at him seeing him looking at you with agape mouth, "I think I should marry you for the 100 times... Noo it's not enough, I should marry you on every chance I get. You know if you are sick, like really sick that there is no other cure than for me to die. I would rather die happy that I get to be loved by you."
Geto said this the time you said yes to him being your beloved of your life forever. He still remembers every detail even the tone he had while saying this, he always have a deja vu everytime he says this it was a good deja ju. A euphoria of the time where he vowed to never make you feel unwanted, unloved or anything that will make you sad. The time he vowed to love you in every aspect of your life, the time he said gratefully that he will love you even as a worm.
"You're being-" you are about to talk but geto keeps shushing you, "Oh girl now let's not ruin the moment." he sassed as you giggled while handling him the plate.
"I'd rather eat dick than eat vegetables all day.." Geto said raising his eyebrows on the vegetables, as you laugh smacking the sickness out of his system.

forrest!! SOS!! i have no good food to eat!! ik u can cook so can u tell us some yummy recipes?
oh god i feel like senshi because im so so very late to this ask because ive been in a slump with cooking myself and youve definitely eaten by now. BUT i have a few that i make either when i want comfort food that still checks some boxes of being kind of nutritious or that are just fast
i. spam musubi but its not actually
spam musubi are these awesome hand held things. sometimes they have egg sometimes they dont but i will eat a whole can worth in one go. so i do it as a bowl instead
i start jasmine rice in our rice cooker and chop the spam into cubes vs slices like it would be for musubi. fry them on medium high until theyre crispy. then ill julienne an onion and add it to the spam. once the onion is starting to soften ill add the sauce. the recipe i saw was 2tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp mirin with like a spoon full of sugar (honestly it was probably just under a tbsp) but ive been cheating recently and using a japanese bbq sauce i found at our local asian grocery store. once everything is coated i cook it a few mins so the sauce thickens up. by then the rice should be done and then you just take a scoop of each and i add seaweed on top
i know its not proper but since will doesnt like the sweet savory combo and im the only one eating it this way is easier for me to handle. i can store the rice and spam separately so nothing gets mushy and even refry the spam when i want to heat it back up
ii. black bean, pepper and cheese quesadilla
this is actually how i got will to try beans. i just take a can of black beans and dump the whole thing into a pot and cook on medium until i can smash them. ill also fry peppers and onions on medium until they have a little char. spices are honestly up to you and how spicy you want it. i usually put salt, pepper, cumin, paprika, chili powder and garlic in with the beans. once the beans are mostly smashed and the peppers cooked ill throw them together and smash them more just so everything is easier to spread onto a tortilla. that plus you can add your cheese. ive shredded my own and used grocery store mixes so its up to you!
iii. spicy garlic tofu
almost no notes on this. i use less maple syrup than the recipe calls for so 1tbsp of everything in the sauce. and instead of gochujang i use a chinese chili paste, imo it ends up less ketchup flavored but if you like ketchup then just use gochujang
iv. https://thecookiewriter.com/roasted-mushroom-pot-pie/
i dont make this as often but this is a recipe i use as a base and then cheat. i swap in frozen veggies and it speeds everything up
v. hotpot
i love making hotpot at home. its super easy skill wise it just takes some time. you can buy premixed hot pot bases from the grocery store if you have an asian grocery store near you and you just dunk stuff in the soup until its cooked. you just need to watch out for the spice level of the broth
will and i will usually get thinly sliced beef, rice cakes, udon noodles, fish cakes, bok choy and mushrooms. all you do is bring the broth to a boil and cook your ingredients. sometimes i dunk with chopsticks other times i cook with a small strainer lol
