Rajasthan’s Vision for Economic Growth: Insights from the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024
Tumblr media
As Rajasthan gears up for the highly anticipated ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024, the state government is laying the groundwork for a transformative economic vision under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. On Wednesday, Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, Rajasthan’s Minister of Industries and Commerce, addressed the media to outline the ambitious goals and strategic initiatives the state has set to achieve over the coming years.
A Bold Economic Ambition
Colonel Rathore’s address shed light on the Rajasthan government’s transformative plan to significantly boost the state’s economic stature. The core objective is to double Rajasthan’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the current ₹15 lakh crore to an impressive ₹30 lakh crore within the next five years. This ambitious goal is not merely a numerical target but a reflection of Rajasthan’s determination to become a pivotal player in India’s economic landscape.
The ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024
Scheduled to take place in December 2024 in Jaipur, the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit is poised to be a landmark event aimed at attracting both domestic and international investments. This summit is a crucial platform for showcasing Rajasthan’s potential as an investment hub and for forging partnerships that can drive the state’s economic growth.
Strategic Priorities and Initiatives
Investment Attraction and Economic Growth
The Rajasthan government’s primary focus is to attract significant investment through the summit. By positioning Rajasthan as a prime investment destination, the government aims to stimulate industrial growth, create job opportunities, and enhance the overall economic ecosystem of the state. The summit will serve as a catalyst for both existing businesses and new ventures looking to capitalize on Rajasthan’s growth prospects.
Administrative Reforms and Ease of Doing Business
To create a more conducive environment for businesses, the Rajasthan government is undertaking extensive administrative reforms. These reforms are designed to streamline processes, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and cut down on the cost of doing business. A key aspect of these reforms is the emphasis on ‘Ease of Doing Business,’ which focuses on minimizing red tape and enhancing the efficiency of government procedures.
By addressing these issues, the state government aims to ensure that businesses can operate with greater ease and confidence. The reforms will make it simpler for investors to set up operations, obtain necessary approvals, and navigate regulatory requirements.
Reducing Costs and Eliminating Red Tape
One of the primary goals of the current administrative reforms is to lower the operational costs for businesses. This involves reducing compliance costs, simplifying tax structures, and offering incentives to attract investment. Additionally, the government is committed to eliminating red tape, which often hampers business operations and discourages potential investors.
The emphasis on reducing these barriers is expected to make Rajasthan a more attractive destination for both national and international businesses. This proactive approach reflects the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment that encourages investment and economic development.
Creating an Investor-Friendly Ecosystem
The state government’s efforts are not limited to administrative reforms alone. There is a concerted push to create a comprehensive investor-friendly ecosystem that includes infrastructure development, technological advancements, and supportive policies. This holistic approach is aimed at providing a robust platform for businesses to thrive and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
The Role of Leadership and Vision
Colonel Rathore’s address highlights the vital role of leadership in driving economic transformation. Under Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s guidance, the Rajasthan government is setting a clear vision for the state’s economic future. The leadership’s commitment to progressive policies, coupled with strategic planning and effective implementation, is crucial in realizing the state’s ambitious goals.
As the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 approaches, the state of Rajasthan is poised for a significant economic leap. With a clear focus on doubling its GDP, attracting substantial investments, and implementing critical administrative reforms, the Rajasthan government is laying a solid foundation for future growth. The summit will not only highlight Rajasthan’s potential as a thriving investment hub but also reflect the state’s dedication to creating a robust and dynamic economic environment.
By addressing key challenges and seizing opportunities, Rajasthan is setting itself on a path of remarkable economic development. The state’s vision, combined with proactive measures and strategic initiatives, positions it as a key player in India’s economic landscape, ready to embrace new opportunities and drive sustained growth.
For more updates on the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 and ongoing developments in Rajasthan’s economic landscape, stay tuned. The future looks bright for this vibrant state, and the upcoming summit promises to be a defining moment in its journey towards economic excellence.

[ad_1] GG News Bureau Jaipur, 31st Dec. The Bhajanlal Sharma-led government in Rajasthan has taken a significant decision to revoke the creation of 17 new districts and 3 divisions established during the tenure of the previous Ashok Gehlot government. Addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Rajasthan Minister Jogaram Patel explained that the decision was made after a thorough review of the cultural, practical, and demographic aspects surrounding the formation of these administrative units. “The previous government ignored these critical considerations. After reassessment, we found no necessity for these districts,” he said. Minister Patel highlighted that the creation of these new districts imposed an unnecessary financial burden on the state’s economy. He criticized the earlier decision, stating, “There was no provision for creating new administrative positions or offices. The move disregarded the state’s financial resources and lacked any practical need.” The minister pointed out that in the past 67 years, Rajasthan had added only seven districts. However, the previous government announced 17 new districts and 3 divisions within just two weeks, terming it an “imprudent decision.” He further alleged that the decision was rushed and politically motivated, taken right before the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct ahead of assembly elections. This rollback is seen as a measure to streamline governance and reduce unnecessary fiscal pressures on the state treasury. Political Battle Ahead in 2024
India is already in election mode, and 2023 will witness three layers of political competition — for the elections to the nine states that will be held over the year; for the elections of 2024, which will determine the composition of the 18th Lok Sabha and shape the next government; and for the post-Narendra Modi political landscape that will begin to emerge in the course of what is likely to be his third and perhaps final term post-2024
To be sure, these timelines and layers cannot be easily distinguished. The first will feed into the second, which will feed into the third. There is also an element of speculation involved, for events have a way of intruding dramatically into political scripts. Still, examining each layer of competition yields useful insights.
The battles of 2023
The year will begin with elections in the northeastern states of Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Tripura. Before 2014, these polls would have merited a mere passing glance in the national political consciousness. But to the credit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has made the political integration of the region a political priority and takes every election in the region with utmost seriousness as a way to expand its power and democratic legitimacy, these elections have got more attention in recent years.
In Tripura, the BJP was able to dislodge an entrenched Left regime in 2018. Its plank rested on Modi’s appeal, resentment against the Left government, quick organisation-building on the back of work done by the Sangh, and clever tactical coalitions with tribal outfits. It has since replicated here a tactic used in Uttarakhand and Gujarat — replace the chief minister if there are reports of anti-incumbency and internal strife. While the Left is a pale shadow of itself, and the BJP may still emerge as the single largest party, it will face a challenge from a new tribal formation led by the former ruler of Tripura Pradyot Debbarman, a disillusioned former Congress loyalist. There is also the possibility of a Left-Congress tie-up to pose a unified challenge to the BJP.
In Nagaland, a state with no opposition legislators (see the story alongside for more on this), the more interesting political thread is the fate of the peace process. Before every elections, there is a renewed attempt to explore a broader settlement of the Naga question — which includes recognition of its distinct identity and symbols, issues of autonomy, and the intersection of Nagaland and Naga-speaking areas in other states. But a peace accord continues to look elusive and it is unlikely that the election will change that.
In Meghalaya, the last election resulted in a post-poll coalition between the Conrad Sangma-led National People’s Party and the BJP; this alliance has now broken down but its revival can’t be ruled out. Within the Opposition, however, Mukul Sangma — the Congress veteran who served as chief minister until 2018 — has shifted to the Trinamool Congress and the battle between him and his bête noire, Vincent Pala of the Congress, will be interesting to watch.
From the North-East, the political action will shift to Karnataka, where the BJP faces extremely strong anti-incumbency and a churn within its internal social coalition. The Congress has its own share of internal discord, but reports suggest that Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra has helped give new life to the party organisation here.
After a brief lull in the summer, across west and central India, the BJP and the Congress will battle it out for power. In Rajasthan, both parties have internal leadership tussles to resolve (Ashok Gehlot versus Sachin Pilot for the Congress, Vasundhara Raje versus central party leadership in the BJP), and the Congress faces the additional challenge of anti-incumbency in a state that sees regimes alternate every five years. In Chhattisgarh, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has invested a fair bit in crafting his public image and keeping the central leadership happy, but his rival, TS Singh Deo, is sullen after having been denied his turn at the wheel. The silver lining for the Congress is that the BJP doesn’t have a clear face after Raman Singh either.
Madhya Pradesh will see the first assembly election after Jyotiraditya Scindia’s entry into the BJP. But the Congress, under Kamal Nath and Digivijay Singh, will do its best to avenge its ouster from power despite having emerged as the single largest party in 2018.
Telangana, too, will head to polls at the end of the year. If K Chandrashekar Rao can preserve his bastion for the third time in a row, it will be a boost to his national ambitions. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (formerly the Telangana Rashtra Samithi) is the clear favourite in the polls, and the only question to watch out for is how well the BJP does vis-a-vis the Congress.
Back in the North-East, Mizoram goes to the polls. The BJP has struggled to make inroads in the Christian-dominated state, with the Mizo National Front continuing to exercise power and battle the multi-party, non-Congress Zoram People’s Movement for dominance.
Put together, the year will serve as a comprehensive status check: How do the Congress and the BJP now tackle internal leadership disputes? Will the Congress be able to retain Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, and win Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, giving it some momentum for 2024? Or will it shrink further and be left with no state government across the western, central and southern swathe? What has been the electoral impact of the Bharat Jodo Yatra? Will the BJP retain its dominance in the north-east, either directly or with regional partners, or will the region see new alternatives emerge? How will the BJP’s performance shape internal power equations in the party?
The battle of 2024
While these are interesting questions in themselves, the lesson from 2018 and 2019 is to not treat the events of 2023 as a predictor for 2024.
In 2018, the BJP had failed to form the government in Karnataka, and the swearing-in of a JD(S)-Congress government saw all opposition leaders congregate in Bengaluru. The BJP also lost power in Rajasthan, MP and Chhattisgarh, after having retained power in those last two states for 15 years. It appeared to face severe challenges in maintaining its multi-caste coalition and addressing rising agrarian distress.
And yet 2019 saw Modi return with an even bigger majority than in 2014. Indian voters have shown, now in two elections in a row, that the question of leadership — of who will become PM — matters to them; and it is here that Narendra Modi continues to have a huge advantage over his rivals.
The BJP, in 2023, will showcase India’s presidency of the G20 (see the second essay on this page) as a mark of Modi’s foreign policy success. The inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya at the end of 2023 will cement the support of the core base. Welfare schemes, particularly the provision of drinking water, will be a key talking point. The Opposition will focus on economic mismanagement, unemployment, pandemic policies and rising inequality, while regional parties in North India will play up the demand for a caste census to break the Hindu vote.
The battles beyond 2024
All in all, there is little doubt that Modi starts out as the clear favourite to win a third term. But beneath the surface, Indian politics is already witnessing the third layer of competition. Within the BJP, there is increased speculation about home minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath as possible successors for leadership; both will do their best in 2024 to buttress their claims for the future.
Within the Opposition, there is a battle underway between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party to be the big national challenger, if not immediately then at least six years from now. But to do even that, the Congress will have to cross the 100 mark first, and AAP will have to expand nationally and win Lok Sabha seats across states.
For now, the BJP’s hegemony and the Opposition’s crises remain entrenched facts. The future of India now depends on how each party plays its role.

“There should be honesty in politics. “ says Gehlot on ahead of assembly elections in Rajasthan
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is actively pursuing his campaign for the upcoming Assembly election in the state. He has visited over 100 constituencies out of 200 by now. In an exclusive interview with a leading media house, Gehlot opened up about the current situation of politics in India and how the BJP is playing wrong in many ways.
When asked about BJPs accusing Congress of appeasement politics in Rajasthan and that he has been supporting Muslims exclusively, Gehlot said, “There should be honesty in politics. The BJP should discuss the work of our government, and point out our mistakes and flaws. We will reply to them. As they have nothing to point out in our governance, they are trying to make a non-issue a political issue. If you see all BJP leaders coming to Rajasthan, you will notice all of them making the same speech. They speak on Article 370, Triple Talaq. It is a state election, speak about Rajasthan. Their agenda is to divide people and get votes, not welfare. The people of Rajasthan are very intelligent and know who has worked for them in the last five years.”
He also talked about the Ram Mandir building project which Congress failed to deliver and said, “They want to fight election on religion in Rajasthan. In the Kanhaiya Lal murder case (the murder of a tailor in Udaipur), we solved the case in a few hours. The accused were close to BJP leaders, who helped them in a property dispute saying they were BJP workers. The BJP is responsible for his killing. Ram does not belong to one person, he belongs to all. But doing politics on religion is not good for the country.”
Gehlot also talked about his cast (mali) for the first time. Gehlot said about Mali community, “I am proud that I am from Mali community. I am Mali from Rajasthan and what does Mali do. Mali keeps every garden in India beautiful. There is all type of flowers in a garden, Mali takes care of them. Similarly, people have given me responsibility to take care of all communities, which, I have done. There is only one Mali MLA in Rajasthan assembly and that is me. I have been CM for three terms and worked for different caste and religion without any discrimination. In that context I spoke about being a Mali.”
Apart from this, Gehlot also talked about PM Modi and several other aspects of politics in Rajasthan.

ED Conducts 25 Raids in Rajasthan in ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ Money Laundering Probe
ED Raids Rajasthan in ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’
As part of their money laundering inquiry into the Center’s “Jal Jeevan Mission” execution in the state set to hold elections, the Enforcement Directorate searched 25 locations throughout Rajasthan on Friday.
The Additional Chief Secretary’s office in the Public Health Engineering Department, Subodh Agarwal, is one of the locations targeted by the raids in the Congress-ruled state of Jaipur and Dausa.
Some engineers, contractors, and former state government officials whose properties are suspected of having connections to the affair are also being covered. The Prevention of Money Laundering Act’s (PMLA) guidelines are being followed when conducting the searches.
Similar raids were also conducted by the Enforcement Directorate in a number of Rajasthani cities on September 1.
The Rajasthan Police’s earlier First Information Report serves as the foundation for the ED’s money laundering probe.
Tumblr media
In June of current year, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena claimed that the central government’s “Jal Jeevan Mission” in Rajasthan was a ₹20,000 crore scam.
In 48 projects under the plan, he had claimed that two firms had been awarded tenders worth ₹900 crore on the basis of forged experience certificates.
Implemented by the Rajasthan Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ seeks to supply safe and sufficient drinking water through household tap connections.
In the meantime, the state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasara’s homes in Sikar and Jaipur’s capital city were raided by the ED last month. Vaibhav Gehlot, child of the state’s main priest Ashok Gehlot, was additionally brought in for cross examination in an Unfamiliar Trade The board Act (FEMA) issue.
The choice Congress rebuked the movement, examining the “timing,” “objective,” and “point” of the public government.

Assembly Elections 2023
Equations Of The Five States Few Days Before Elections?
Tumblr media
Political News In Hindi, There are not many days left in the voting process for the elections to be held in 5 states including Hindi heartland states. Voting will start from 7th of next month. About a month before the voting, the political parties release the list of candidates and the election campaign is at its peak, but this time all the five equations seem to be changing with each passing time. Out of the 5 electoral states, there is a direct fight between BJP and Congress in 3 big states, while in the remaining two states, there is a big fight between the regional parties of Congress. However, after the distribution of tickets among the political parties of all the five states, the fire of infighting has no longer remained internal but has reached the streets. After the party canceled the ticket, the game of defection has also started. In such a situation, let us know what the current equations of all the election states say and who is stronger than whom.
Dilemma Between Both The Parties In Rajasthan:
Rajasthan is the only state in India where the public changes its government every five years. At the beginning of this year, this trend seemed to be repeating again, but the infighting among BJP leaders, the anger of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and the pro-people policies of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot have put Congress ahead. According to local and other election surveys, at the beginning of this year, BJP was reported to be ahead of Congress, the biggest reason for which was the open verbal attacks between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Rajasthan Congress President Sachin Pilot.
Former Chief Minister Sachin Pilot had accused his own party's government of corruption several times in the last 5 years and had also gone on fast. Apart from the Gehlot-Pilot political tussle in the state, there were other big issues which had put the CM Gehlot-led government on the back foot, but where the opposition should have capitalized on these issues, they fought due to the ongoing opposition within their party. It seems to be coming out. The rift between Rajasthan BJP President Satish Punia, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia is well known. It is being said that while there is a tussle between two leaders in the Congress regarding the post of Chief Minister, on the other hand, there are 3-4 such leaders within Nahajapada who are now staking their claims in the Jan Sabha.
However, BJP was ignoring all these problems and giving competition to Congress, but the biggest increase in this problem happened when the news started coming that the BJP high command had appointed its senior most leader and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia in the state after the 2018 defeat. Have since been ignored. Keeping all these incidents in mind, many surveys were conducted regarding the election results and are being conducted even today. Presently, the situation is such that despite the anti-Congress wave, it seems to be giving a tough fight to the BJP, which is being attributed to the lack of leadership in Rajasthan BJP and other life-benefiting schemes like Ashok Gehlot's dearness allowance and Chiranjeevi Yojana.
Chances Of Biggest Upset In Telangana:
Chief Minister KCR's Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi) has formed the government in Telangana for two consecutive terms. Out of the total 119 assembly seats, KCR's TRS had established its dominance in Telangana by winning 63 in the 2014 elections and a spectacular 88 in the 2018 elections, but this time the elections can increase the problems for KCR and his entire party. After the landslide victory in 2018, allegations of corruption started being made against KCR, his daughter K Kavita and many MLAs, the effect of which was seen in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election s held in the year 2020.
While TRS had won 99 seats out of 150 Municipal Corporation seats in 2016, in 2020, under the leadership of MP Bandi Sanjay, it won 44 seats, defeating TRS and the party led by its associate Asaduddin Owaisi. On the other hand, TRS had slipped from 99 to 56. BJP started establishing its roots in Telangana after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. From 2014 to 2020, he had performed well in the Lok Sabha and Assembly, which seemed to indicate that the BJP is moving towards winning another southern state of South India after Karnataka in the 2023 Assembly, but in 2023, the BJP won in Karnataka. The shameful defeat changed everything for the BJP.
Due to opposition within the party against President Bandi Sanjay, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy was made the party president, after which the BJP started moving towards its decline, of which the Congress took full advantage and, beating all the figures, led by State President Revanth Reddy. I is currently appearing ahead in all equations. Revanth Reddy and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi have held public meetings and presented themselves as a better and different option before the people of Telangana. At present, Congress seems to be far ahead of the other two parties in almost every opinion poll. The fight which was BJP vs TRS till a few months ago has now become TRS vs Congress.
MP Politics - Shivraj Mama Reduced The Fear Of Big Defeat In Madhya Pradesh:
It is said that Madhya Pradesh is a laboratory for BJP. From 2003 to 2018, BJP had one-sided rule in the central state but the defeat with minimum margin in 2018 changed the politics of BJP. A year after the defeat, BJP formed the government in March 2020 by including 22 MLAs including Jyotiraditya Scindia in the party, but the anti-BJP wave among the public had not ended. Till 6 months before the election date, there was a strong and historic victory under the leadership of former Chief Minister Kamal Nath. There were several protests against the BJP government in the last one year, there were allegations of corruption in examinations and increasing crimes against backward classes in the state. Almost every section had expressed their anger against BJP, in which some solutions were found but many were left disappointed. Seeing such a huge anti-incumbency against BJP, according to political pundits and different media surveys, BJP was seen lagging behind Congress by a huge margin, but 4-time Chief Minister of the state Shivraj Singh Chouhan played his ace and shocked everyone. The name of that ace was Laadli Brahmin Yojana which worked to benefit 50% of the voting class i.e. women in the elections and to calm the opposition wave. Apart from this, within the last 6 months, CM Shivraj also held many big public meetings in which he also met women directly. However, while Shivraj is making moves to save his government and society, Congress on the other hand is seen sleeping. Just as BJP proved unsuccessful in Rajasthan as opposition, similarly Congress proved unsuccessful in Madhya Pradesh. The faster the elections were approaching, the faster the Congress was deviating from its vision. Congress failed to capitalize on the biggest protest in the state, due to which BJP got a chance to make a comeback. Now the current situation is that according to political pundits and recent surveys, Congress is ahead but the margin seems to be the same as the 2018 election results.
Bhupesh Kaka Flame Will Remain Intact In Chhattisgarh:
In Chhattisgarh, which is the second stronghold of BJP in Central India, Congress had defeated the 15-year-old Raman Singh government in the last elections. From 2003 to 2018, BJP had won 3 elections but due to anti-incumbency against Chief Minister Raman Singh and other cabinet ministers, BJP had to face historic defeat. Of the total 90 seats in the assembly, Congress had won 71 seats. Even after five years, BJP is not in a position to recover from this shameful defeat handed by Congress. In the last five years, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken Chhattisgarh to new heights of development with his policies, due to which his image has been established as a better Chief Minister, the answer to which BJP has not been able to find till now. Although CM Bhupesh Baghel has launched many flagship schemes, there is one such scheme which has made him the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh for the second consecutive time that is Godhan Nyay Yojana, under which the government will buy cow dung from farmers and cattle rearers at the rate of Rs 2 per kg. After purchase, women self-help group members will convert the cow dung into vermicompost and other products. This scheme had opened new employment opportunities for the unemployed poor living in both rural and urban areas. Not only this, the Bhupesh Baghel government was successful to a great extent in the Naxalite violence that had been going on in the state for years. After Chhattisgarh 2018, Congress had defeated BJP in the 2021 civic elections also. Now the current situation is that even the BJP high command is not seen making much effort in Chhattisgarh and the Congress is moving towards a one-sided victory in the various surveys that are coming out continuously.
Difficulties May Increase For Zoramthanga:
Mizoram has been a bone of contention between the Mizo National Front and the Congress ever since it was separated from Assam state in 1972 and attained full statehood in 1987. In the 8 assembly elections held since 1987, both the parties have formed their government in Mizoram 4 times each. Congress was considered very strong in Mizoram till the 2018 assembly elections, but due to anti-incumbency against party president and 4-time Chief Minister PU Lal Thanhawla and Mizo National Front coming together with BJP-led alliance, Congress got only 40 seats in the 2018 elections. Got 5 seats. Mizo National Front chief and current Chief Minister Zoramthanga took oath as the Chief Minister for the third time. However, Zoramthanga's situation seems to be worsening in 2023.
The violence that has been going on in Manipur for the last 5 months has increased the distance between Zoramthanga and NDA. Zoramthanga had expressed strong opposition to the government over the Manipur violence and called for the NDA to be out. On the other hand, now the anti-incumbency against Zoramthanga is at its peak, Congress has now tried to take advantage of it, but in this the fight will not be 2 but 3, which makes the Mizoram elections more exciting. In 2017, former IPS officer and Congress MP Lalduhoma had founded a new party, Zoram Nationalist Party, to end the duopoly of Congress and MNF in Mizoram Assembly.
Political News - In the 2018 elections, Lalduhoma's3 party had secured the second position, defeating Congress Com. According to political pundits and surveys, no party is seen getting absolute majority in this election, but there is a big increase in the vote share and seats of Congress and Zoram Nationalist Party, which can increase the problems of Zoramthanga. .
The election bugle has been sounded and public meetings are being held with full enthusiasm by all the parties. This time, the elections of these five states will not only decide the condition and direction of the general elections to be held in 2024 but can also rejuvenate the future politics and many big leaders, which we will know on December 3.
