Who thought that they would post drawings regularly? I thought.

Artblok thought differently.

And then in the chat they suggested drawing Sunstreak on Design meme.

I usually don't draw canon characters unless I'm asked to do so.

But my love for showing off my headcanons got me into drawing.

Sunstreak. And my headcanons for BeetleWings(and HiveWings, and SilkWings).

When I first saw the tribal designs, the wings quickly became the object of my ire.

Insect wings. which do not bend. and are attached only to the limb.

The last straw was the children Sunstreak and Clearsight. These massive Nightwings bodies have butterfly wings. And Hivewings can also have transparent wings.

Result: The wings are movable and cannot be transparent. But BeetleWings and descendants have an additional joint in the wing manus, which, when the muscles are tense, locks the wing motionless in an extended state. Other tribes don't have this. The wing membrane is attached to the body. And these are full-fledged wings, which have a shape similar to the wings of insects. The composition of the scales from the wings differs in composition from the scales from the rest of the body. Therefore, the wings feel different to the touch and their color may differ radically from the main color.

Beetlewings also have wings like bees or dragonflies. Wings Silkwings are a mutation of the wider wings of Nightwings - the result of several hybrid generations.

On the other hand: antennas growing from the temples have no justification other than my personal whim. (I don’t like it when they grow from the forehead.)

Flowing Glitter Standee attempt 2! With movable butterfly accessories!

Oberon x Titania!Ritsuka @shaine26 's commissioned art by artist Cioccolatodorima for the fanfic Lies and His Wife Truth. I'm actually not a hundred percent happy with this. The flowing glitter is good, the acrylic bloc quality is good, the butterfly and jewel accessories are good, the print quality is good. But the print layout can be better. Flowing glitter standees really need to be printed in at least two or three layers, with the image layer sandwiched by flowing glitter for maximum effect. Here, the image is printed on top of the flowing glitter bloc, so only a little bit of the glitter can be seen. It's such pretty glitter, too. The finished product is still very pretty, but it's definitely something I will remember for the next attempt. Hmm... I kinda want to try making a music box standee.

Here is the next design I worked on for my Miraculous Racers au; Papillon.

So Papillon's entire look is heavily based around Thierry Mugler's spring 1997 collection. She also has the little butterfly tongue neck tattoo, but that's just me thinking it would be cute and that represents the butterfly mouth but also Noroo’s head swirl. And her butterfly wings are based off of milkweed butterflies cause they eat their own caterpillars.

I want her to be like a mix of my favorite childhood villains; Rita Repulsa, Queen Nehelenia, and Queen Beryl. So her goals are similar in that she straight up wants to rule the universe. She uses the butterfly miraculous to brainwash people and is trying to get her hands on the miraculous to make sure there's no way she can be stopped.

I figure that she rides around in some sort of town car-esque space vehicle and has a driver and stuff. Then, when she gets serious, she pushes her driver out of the car and drives it herself like Cruella De Vil.

So I imagine the rose petals of her dress are a purple velvet and her wings are made of satin. Usually butterfly wings would have the velvet texture but i think it’s important for her wings to shine and look light weight. The dress is velvet because it needs more weight because it’s the butterfly body and roses are surprisingly heavy looking, but also i like how butterflies and moths have those fuzzy bodies.

And she has layered sleeves that match the gloves to give a more bug like appearance. Her shoes and tights are less important cause the attention must be focused on her wings first, then the body of the dress. And for proper movability, and cause she’s a magical girl, her wings fold down like a bustle or train. So if she needs to sit in her car. Hawkmoth has such a baby cane, I wanted Papillon to have a cane that looks like she could crack someone’s skull with it. Like, if she fights, she’s actively using it like a spiked mace. I also want death to be an option. So she does eventually kill someone, but that character comes in later.

While designing them I wanted to go for a cuckoo wasp meets tropical plants vibe, since  most people think of butterflies when thinking of vivid insects, but wasps and other less pleasant ones can be just as colorful. 

Their size on average is between a wolf and a tiger. The black dot above its shoulder is one of its eyes. Its brain is also in its bust/chest. The “head” is just the mouth with a single large closable nostril above it. The mouth is hidden between two folded arm-like mandibles with clawed hands at the end, each hand has 3 fingers. They use these to grab smaller prey and bring it to the mouth which looks like something between a beak and teeth. It can turn its eyes inside (similarly to sharks) to protect them and also bring a harder shell over it. 

The two spike-like appendages are actually soft and bendable, but still stiff, kinda like the tail of a dromaeosaur, they are also easily movable to any position . For their much smaller ancestors these functioned like the whiskers of cats to feel their surroundings, but they use them now to balance and help at sharp turns while running so they essentially function as the tail of big cats. These are also covered in small pores through which they can smell the air like how snakes do it with their tongue, they have an excellent smell. 

The two foldable fingers on their single back leg can be used to give better traction while running or to give a more stable support. The foldable fingers on the front can also give better traction, but are mainly for latching onto larger prey and to cause injuries.

Their ears are just before the back leg.

They are very social and live in packs of 6-7 on average. 

Reproduction: to choose who is the strongest, most ideal, they have rituals in which they stand up on their back leg and display their bright iridescent colors on their stomach and also showing off their whole body by opening up their talons making themselves as wide with their “tails” as possible. All of this usually includes a bit of roughhousing but rarely an actual fight. When one of them gets chosen after this, they use a long organ similar to the proboscis of butterflies, expandable from under their mouth to plant an egg/seed into the ground.

Which grows into something that resembles a tree but has more in common with corrals in their function. They will start to bring prey to it and put them at the base of it, after a few hours the “tree” grows and moves its roots into it and starts to digest the prey. The lifespan of a tree like this is anywhere between 2-4 years. When the tree dies they quickly plant a new one.

The body of these animals is cyclically producing 2 small flying creatures that carry the genetic material of their “parent”, they are born from behind a membrane under their tails and above the ears. These creatures have no mouth nor digestive systems so they have to be quick, their mission is to find one of those trees and fertilize it. The part wich resembles a beak has many holes in it and is actually used for smelling, their eyes are great but smell and pheromones play a big part in finding and choosing the right tree, from smell it can tell how good is the soil it was planted in, how much food it gets or how fit was the animal that planted it (they also avoid accidental incest this way). Once they found the ideal tree they use their long tongue-like appendage released from their beak-like structure to fertilize the tree through its flowers (not included in the drawing) that they grow when they grow large enough and not yet “pregnant”. After this the tree start to grow 2-3 animals in its underground “wombs”, it takes about a year but when they hatch they are already half the size of the adults, can walk, eat solid food and could even hunt in a few days if they wouldn't have to get practice in like, walking in the forest and stuff. But in a few weeks they are fully productive members of the pack once they get strong enough. They can afford to have even only 2 cubs a year because infant mortality is almost nonexistent and the young ones can serve the group very quickly.

Their colors on the stomach can be “turned off” like the skin of chameleons to not make prey animals notice them. Changes in them can also indicate health, mood and can be used for limited communication.

The inspiration for their anatomy, mainly for their eye, brain and mouth placement, was by how many fish have very expandable jaws, while their head is basically in one piece with their body. The fishes that we derived from evolved necks to have more mobility to the jaw, but what if some other fish would rather just made the jaw more and more flexible while it could leave the head still in one piece with the body.

Of course males and females are not a thing for them.

Normally, when someone hears the term 'Mythology', they'd think about creatures they'd find in fables and legends like dragons, demons, spirits and so on. No one knows if these creatures exist, let alone the gods and goddesses of every culture... but you do. You don't really go by your name which you keep a secret, but everyone you know calls you Cryptid. Why? Well there's a whole list to go through to explain. For starters, you're able to move your body in twitchy and creepy ways like the way the nurses from Silent Hill move, as well as make unnerving bone cracking sounds to add that extra layer of creepiness. In addition to that, you have a whole body tattoo that resembles that of a doll with movable joints in the fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders, back, neck and so on. Aside from that, you're incredibly flexible and can fold yourself perfectly into a box, and yes you've gone trick-or-treating as an amazon package before. Your footsteps are as quiet as a mouse, you're capable of many hidden talents you keep secret simply for fun, and you're capable of throwing off so many people. Appearance-wise you fit the stereotypical look of an outcast of society who seems creepy but is 'misunderstood', heavily introverted and timid around everyone while being easily intimidated by anyone who looks at you. However, that's not the case. You're quite the social butterfly and you love to trick people, especially after they confirm that you're this innocent and misunderstood introverted bean. One moment you easily sneak out of a public setting and stay by yourself, the next you're drunk off your ass singing Katy Perry's 'Last Friday Night' to the pleasant surprise of your friends. Sadly though, you and your friends were separated. Why? Because you're also an SAS soldier. You're a special case though, you are an excellent stealth soldier with exceptional fighting skills and fitting in the smallest of spaces to gather intel without making a single sound. COs have fought tooth and nail for you but the only one who won the fight was Captain John Price. Normally a new face would arrive via helicopter and meet the team in the breakroom at the base, but this time, you met them a different way. - - - You arrived in a box. A simple box among other boxes full of equipment with your codename labeled on your gear. One would assume it'd be heavy if a whole-ass human was in it, but it was decently light. You feel Price pick up the box and gently place it on the floor away from the other boxes, gathering everyone's attention as he cuts the tape keeping you inside with a knife and steps away. Had it not been for the face mask you're wearing, everyone would tell you're grinning as your hand opens the flaps of the boxes and gently feels around the floor before sounds of cracking and popping bones echoes out as your arms and legs twist and bend when you get out of the box. In a few minutes, you're standing upright and stretching yourself out before you open your one eye and look at everyone. Only three people are wearing masks but the rest share the same look of shock, surprise and fear. Price proceeds to stand next to you, crossing his arms with a chuckle. " This is Cryptid, I've heard great things about his feats and knew he'd be a perfect fit for our team so I expect each of you to welcome him. He's one of us now.
