Genuinely though, it was very annoying to me those people who said Fjord "finally became a good and interesting character" specifically and explicitly because they imagined him post-Uthodurn as ~only doing exactly what Caduceus tells him and deferring to Caduceus~ and as shutting up, becoming passive, and yes man-ing Caduceus.
Like, there were people who literally felt that becoming a mouthpiece for Caduceus (which only happened in their imaginations) and moving away from the ~brutish, domineering~ person he is when he's allowed to make decisions for himself (again, not true in the text) was the way he would become a good, interesting, complex character.
It was wild and very, very annoying, and I'm still annoyed about it.

They wanted him to be passive.#It made them uncomfortable that he was increasingly assertive; confident; self-possessed; and iron-willed while being openly masculine.#Fjord learned to be both stoic and self-controlled while being true to and open with his own emotions in a healthy and holistic manner#He learned to be someone gentle and supportive and collaborative while still being unyielding and resolute and implacably assured#and that all made people uncomfortable because they have weird ideas about what it meant for him to grow#(and a lot of weird hangups about masculinity frankly)#Tbh I think a lot of people hated that Fjord did not become passive and mute and pliant—because they didn't realize Fjord GREW UP that way.#As in he was very clearly subtextually raised as a child to be someone easily domineered and easily influenced by others.#To be steadfastly unyielding in himself and who he is without capitulating even SLIGHTLY to others was THE POINT.#And I think that made people uncomfortable so they wanted him to just be subsumed into Caduceus#Because it was more palatable if Fjord became an extension of someone else instead of someone who did not bend to their projections.#Critical Role things#CR
