A Nhâchchech [Naak'kek] hunter shows off typical daywear. The Nhâchchech (weaver) culture is the most prominent culture of the northern polar regions. The Nhâchchech are also sometimes called the Eshtchchonh [Eshtk'kon], or 'pattern folk/pattern people' due to their brightly patterned outfits. Ssereâch [Sareaat], a hunter, displays typical daywear for teens and adults. Garb is conveniently labeled for our sake. More in depth description under the cut.

Ssereâch is wearing a Ghelâmach, a Nhêdchchonh, a pair of Mhshêchchonh, Dhlesfa and Dhlepach, and a Ssamhnhâl. She also wears Ffâpecha and a few Bhearpaf as accessories. A Ghelâmach [Gelaamat] is the skinned, tanned pelt of one or several polar Ghelâ turned into a warm, insulating cloak. Perfect for colder environemnts. Traditionally Ghelâmach are handmade and use real fur, but faux fur dupes can be found in tourist heavy polar cities. Ssereâch's Ghelâmach is split into two parts, with a more typical overcape 'mach' and a separate waist wrapped section sometimes referred to as a Shochghelâ [Shotgelaa], Ghelâ skirt, when worn apart from the mach. Together though, the two piece ensemble is collectively called a Ghelâmach. A Nhêdchchonh [needk'kon], literally 'pattern shirt', is common upper wear following the same vein as Mhshêchchonh. The patterns of a Nhêdchchonh are typically reserved for the collar, sleeves, and bottom border as opposed to trailing up the entire side of the fabric as is common for Mhshêchchonh. The bright blue color of the body fabric is due to the dye of an aquatic plant rather morbidly called Fôlachemhêsh [Fulatemeesh], "Blood Root". This name comes from the plant's tendency to 'bleed' a vibrant blue sap that heavily resembles Chenesht blood when wet, and when dry, can be boiled down to make a liquid pigment.

Mhshêchchonh [msheek'kon], literally 'pattern pants', are common legwear for polar cultures. Their patterned bands traditionally contain information about the individual wearing them such as name, job, and family but can also contain folk stories, poems, or legends, though purely decorative patterns have come into style among younger generations. Ssereâch's Mhshêchchonha have purely decorative patterns.

The patterned borders of Nhêdchchonha and Mhshêchchonha are woven either through the loom weaving method or the more typical card weaving method and made of dyed sinews, braided plant fibers, or spun fur. They can take months to years to complete depending on the complexity of the pattern. Dhle [Dle] is the common word for any sort of hand or foot covering, typically translated as either 'boot' or 'glove' depending on the context for its use. The Dle being worn here are Dhlesfa [Open Dle] on the forelimbs and Dhlepach [Closed Dle] on the hindlimbs. Dhle were near exclusively worn by the Nhâchchech culture prior to the Three Beasts War and the subsequent cultural merger that led to global leaps in technological advancement. Their once niche use as protective coverings from harsh elements became common use as comfortable footwear for walking along the artificial sidewalk pavements and streets of most modern cities.

Ssamhnhâl [Samnal] literally translates to 'bone glasses' [ssamh - glass, nhâl - bone]. Ssamhnhâl are carved from bone and serve as eye protectant from winter storms or harsh light gleaming off of the snow. The primary eyes look through horizontal slits in the bone, while the secondary eyes are shielded by a carved in 'flap' that they can look under or over. Ssereâch's Ssamhnhâl is carved with decorative patterns as well.

Ffâpecha [Faapeta], or 'twin rings', are a common decorative accessory among teens used to show their devotion to one another. Each ring is made of carved bone and sealed together by animal sinews mashed into glue once they've been linked, and typically have the first name or family name of their beloved carved into one, and their own name into the other. Ffâpecha have long been a source of drama and contention among especially young teens, and broken or cracked sets can often be found littered around the grounds of majority teen camps. Bhearpaf [bearpaf/bearpaw] is the general term for any good luck charm taken from an animal and worn on the hunter's person. Bhearpaf literally translates to 'blessing' or 'lucky charm', but is quite often misinterpreted as the english term 'bear paw' when speaking to humans. Shortening the word to Bhear (gift) has not helped the jokes, and has instead spawned a new tradition of gifting carvings, drawings, or anything with images or patterns of earth bears to your chenesht friends during birthdays or other gift-giving holidays.

since it's that time of year again, I thought I might ask this festive question because it seems appropriate. do Trevenants like to be decorated like a christmas tree, or do they hate it? or does it just depend with each individual Trevenant?

it depends on the trevenant and whether or not it's been trained to allow decoration. generally, pokemon dont like to have things placed on them, especially anything that feels constrictive (im imagining things like wreaths or tinsil). and while some pokemon will tolerate costumes and accessories in exchange for treats, others will never be okay with it.

if the trevenant allows decoration, that's okay, provided that the decorations don't get in the way of its natural behaviors and are taken off when it's not being supervised. they're unlikely to accept artificial decorations like fake wreaths or plastic ornaments, but i've heard of trevenant who don't mind accessories made of seasonal plants like pine and holly. you might even make a trevenant pretty happy if it can gift parts of your decorations to the wild pokemon it looks after!

The curved line on the map leads to a conflict between countries, the wooden fence marks the boundary of someone's mansion, the old bridge divides the city into two different world, the social status dictates how to live and tries to kill even hints of love between two from different worlds. But there are no barriers to love- it's like the wind wanders around, invisible and full of force. Someone is blessed with the gentle breeze of quiet life, while others find themselves in the untamed tornado of passion. Sometimes, it's the instant blow, like a spark - blinding chaos of sensations. At times, it's the steady air of slow burn, but periodically it fades away like the strong tempest dissolve into the calmness. Then there are times when it's just the oxygen to breath, the natural, essential, element of living. That's why the wild wind brought them together, carrying their hearts above all the obstacles and barricades.

The weight of the noble name of Leonhart was always one of Annie's the heaviest accessories - it hangs on her shoulders like the iron shall, each letter engraving into her skin like the permanent ink without a way to wash it away, dictating her surroundings and her future. Even when the palm of someone who her father wants to see as her husband touches her waist in a dance during the ball, even when the dull compliments like the script from the cheap novel fly from the mouth of another potential cavalier her father sent, even when their clothes are so heavy decorated like the palace, even…even in every circumstance, Annie wears roses he grows for her and silently declares to everyone that her heart already belongs to someone. All these gallants would say her eyes are the sky, the ocean, the lake, the winter…but only her Armin knows the truest color of her eyes.

"The moonlight crystal", he says in a lazy whisper, brushing some wet strands from her flushed face. Her bare frame shines in the silky haze of the night, breaking through the window of his small cabin at the end of the mansion yard, and the smile, her genuine one, adorns her face with the sensible lace of her sincere affection. Things to buy as an avian therian that can give you species euphoria, but don't scream THERIAN HERE! :

~ Clothes

– Because wings are, of course, too obvious, you can buy something that will resemble them! – capes, shirts with wide sleeves or large scarves can all be very helpful.

– Ordinary clothes in the color of your theriotype – can also reduce species dysphoria.

~ Jewelry

– Necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, hair clips with the motif of wings or feathers (or, if you want to, with fake bird skulls) – they are also not obvious and can look very pretty! Those motifs are the most general ones for avian therians, but you can choose those that are more associated with your theriotype, ex. shiny things are the best for corvids.

~ Room decorations

– You can make your room look more like the environment of your theriotype and buy, for the example – fake or real plants, figurines, decorative bird feeders, feathers, candles. Choose the ones that will make your surroundings more comfortable to resemble your home!

Clothing & Wearing Magic – Part 2

Part 1: Location.

Part 2: Materials

Just as it is emphasized that wood, an amethyst, salt, and sugar have different spiritual properties due to their physical and chemical capabilities, clothing and accessories can also have different properties based on the material they are made of.

In this post I previously talked about metals, so I won't go into details, other than remembering that a silver ring and an aluminum ring have different properties to take into account. So everything that is jewelry is included there. But it also includes belt buckles, metal buttons on jeans, zippers on clothes, and everything that is metallic. If metal exists, it can be enchanted based on its specific properties.

Materials:

All the plant-based materials, like yarn, hemp, cotton, bamboo, jute, linen and their derivations, are a pure Earth element, are part of a plant that grows from the ground, fed by the Sun. That alone brings the properties of both elements and will be beneficed by spells related to both, like protection. The most commons to find in a normal cloth are cotton and linen.

Cotton: Is a soft, fluffy staple fiber that grows in a boll and is covered with thorns. The white color of the fiber gives its characteristic association of cleanliness and purity, just as the ability to retain vibrations, help protect from negative energies (the thorns add more aggression to it) and is known for represent simplicity and harvest. It also has properties as being static electricity resistant, absorbs water and “breathes”, can withstand heat, detergents, and bleach, so naturally act like a barrier.

Linen: Is made from the fibers of a plant, but in this case, from the “inner bark” and since is hard to make, it is also more expensive, that’s why is related to elegance, luxury and sophistication. Used by members of high class, usually priests, got the idea of be linked to the righteousness and purity, and the common use to sheets, made it corresponded to the rest. It is the second strongest fabric after the silk and also static electricity resistant.

Wool, leather and silk, on the other hand, come from animal sources, which also add the Fire component to the equation, adding the life force and energy of said element.

Wool: A textile fiber obtained from sheep and other mammals, especially goats, rabbits, and camelids, with the characteristic to be insulating, temperature regulating, mold resistant and flame resistant. Since the wool grow back each season is linked to the hope and renewal, durability, comfort and warmth. Each type of wools can also bring the energy and characteristics of the specific animal to which come from, so can be useful to focus in these features at the moment to enchant it.

Leather: At difference of the wool, the leather doesn’t grow back, is the result of the death of the animal, which brings even more Fire element to the equation, just as the instinct and strength of the animal to which come from. Can be completely waterproof and hard to burn, which bring extra protection.

Silk: Is the strongest natural textile in the world, a natural protein fiber, composed mainly of fibroin and is produced by certain insect larvae to form cocoons. The process is time-consuming and delicate, which explains the high cost of this fabric but also brings the correspondence of being a symbol of wealth, luxury and prestige. In certain lighting conditions, silk produces a shimmering optical effect, which is due to the triangular prism-like structure of silk fibers. These prisms reflect light at various angles, which results in the subtle rainbow hue that has made silk so famous, which add the capacity of the transformation and magical insulation.

Within the synthetic fibers you can find lycra, polyamide, neoprene, polyester, and many other mixtures of synthetic origin, most of which are derivatives of plastic. May 4: To celebrate the 4th, Aire Libre will be showing the original Star Wars trilogy—no, the original original Star Wars trilogy, the one that premiered in Chile in 2003! As the broadcasting company didn’t want to cut to commercial breaks, they instead stitched the commercials into the scenes and started something absolutely legendary.  Spanish subtitles will be provided, and guests are encouraged to come dressed!  Merchandise will be sold of the edited scenes, from magnets to t-shirts to blankets.

May 10: Inherited Escapes will be hosting their own AAPI event!  They’ve invited Asian Chilean authors as well as authors of AAPI descent to be part of an author panel and book signing.  Come meet some amazing local authors, come give a big greeting to our international authors, and come spend an afternoon surrounded by people who love to write and love to read. The event will be from 6 PM - 8:30 PM.  Snacks and beverages will be provided; the last thirty minutes will be for book signings (only books bought from Inherited Escapes will be signed).

May 11-12: As fall is ending, Isidora will be selling last season’s products at a discounted price this entire weekend to prepare their inventory for the upcoming season and for the winter time storage.  If you buy any of their products, they’ll also be offering free tours of their winery!

May 17: As the days and nights get cooler, Quintay is seeing an uptick in visitors for fly fishing.  Veteran fisherman and very important scientists have predicted that this particular Friday will be a great time to fish, so Quintay invites families to come and learn how to fly fish from 4PM - 8 PM!  For a small price, kids can borrow fishing gear and life jackets, and get hands-on experience on how to use an artificial lure to catch some dinner.  Post-8 PM, adults can stay and fly fish further.

Quilpué Activities

May 2: To celebrate International Sibling Day, Plantas Altas will be offering a BOGO 50% off from 11 AM - 2 PM! May 3: International Supernatural Day is upon us, and no one loves the Supernatural more than the people at Los Fantasmas.  For an out of season night, the team at Los Fantasmas has come up with a spooktacular night.  From 8 PM - 2 AM, they will be hosting a small Macabre Market where the vendors will be selling eerie, unsettling, and just plain scary merchandise.  Two new drinks have been added to the menu for this night: the Cóctel Zombi and El Beso de la Muerte. There’s even rumors of the appearance of a famous but reclusive ghost hunter—but you’ll have to come and find out for yourself!

May 5: Are you the best at Smashbros?  Maybe you’re just the big fish in your little pond.  Casa Dragones is offering you the chance to truly find out!  Test your mettle against other Smashbros players in a Smashbros Tournament!  There is a small entry fee and a portion of it goes to the cash prize pool; winner takes it all, and something maybe even more important: Bragging Rights!  The tournament will be from 2 PM - 6 PM.  Snacks and beverages will be provided, but you are encouraged to purchase snacks from the counter and support your local nerd space.  Please register online at www.lacasadedragones.cl.

May 18: It’s time to shine for one of Caos Tattoos very own: Abril Valdivia!  The Tattoo Apprentice will be having a flash sale of her own designs for a discounted price.  Come support a local up-and-coming artist!  You can still make appointments and receive flash from the resident tattoo artists there. May 25: Quilpué Zoo invites friends and family to meet their new friend, Otto the Octopus!  Otto is a smart, clever, playful, and silly boy.  He loves squirting water at the Quilpué Zoo workers; he loves solving puzzles; and he loves being handled by the zoo employees!  From 10 AM - 2 PM, the event (¡Bienvenido A Casa, Otto¡) will allow kids to see Otto solve puzzles and do tricks; they’ll see a feeding session; and they’ll also learn about octopuses and their habitats!

Valparaíso Activities

May 16: Valparaíso Centro Médico is celebrating the backbone of the hospital: the nurses!  During this time, participating restaurants and stores will be offering nurses discounts in their stores and restaurants.  Check your email for an emailed list of participating locations; all that’s required is to show your hospital badge.  At the hospital itself, expect decorations throughout, a gift basket, a catered meal, as well as a bonus effective this paycheck.  Thank you for your hard work!

May 19: Art thee int'rest'd in loveth?  In hurt?  in what it means to beest a human on this Earth?  Doth thee loveth plays and the arts?  Well, the Shakespeare in the Parketh team shall beest p'rf'rming various scenes f'r free in the Parque Cultural de Valparaíso from 12 PM - 3 PM.  Bringeth a blanket, a snack, and a cousin and enjoyeth the showeth!  T’is family friendly and BYOB, but thee shall beest hath asked to leaveth if 't be true thou art being disruptive.

May 21: The Writer’s Org will be hosting a writing workshop at Biblioteca Santiago Severín from 5 PM - 7 PM.  There are no entry fees and no club fees.  Non/fiction writers can bring 1-2 pieces up to 1500 words total; poets and flash fiction writers will be allowed 3 pieces. 

May 28: Valparaíso Centro Médico is having a Blood Donation Day from 7 AM - 9 PM.  Come save a life and get a t-shirt and hydroflask as thanks!  No registration, signups, or appointments needed.  Walk in whenever you’re free and do your part to help your neighbors in need!

Viña del Mar Activities

May 4: To celebrate International Bird Day, the Bird Watching Org will spend time in the Parque Nacional La Campana from 6 AM - 10 AM to play Bird Bingo.  First person to identify all the birds or get Bingo will get a pack of bird stickers!  You are welcome to bring food and drinks, but try not to bring anything too noisy, and keep in mind that you’ll be carrying all your trash until we make it to a trashcan.

May 12: The Casino de Viña Del Mar would love to celebrate Mother’s Day with you!  From 11 AM - 11 PM, there will be a special Mother’s Day buffet for guests to enjoy.  A raffle will also be done, and 3 winners will be picked to enjoy an all expense-paid trip to Havana, Cuba!

I just read 140 and while it feels a little... off? I'm attributing that to it having come out ahead of the issue that closes out the previous storyline. I'll give it another read through once Armageddon Game #8 comes out and I'm sure it'll feel better then.

Regardless, I actually really like the seeds you've planted here so far! Leo not really knowing how to be anything other than what he is, Mikey striving for more in his life, Raph's heartbreak over Alopex being expressed in anger and frustration at the current flux state the family is in, and Donnie spending a lot of time in the lab (I eagerly await to see what comes out of that... fingers crossed for magi-science turtle tots in the not so distant future).

IRT Alopex... Do people think she only exists as an accessory to Raph? She has her own life, personality, and motivations. It's a disservice to her as a character to expect her to hang around with the man who murdered her entire family just because her boyfriend is working with him. This is an entirely reasonable boundary to have! I dunno about you, but I've dumped people over far less than [checks notes] deciding that the guy that objectively ruined your life is your uncle now, kinda. Even if Raph wasn't going along with it, it's entirely reasonable for her to not want anything to do with the rest of them because of this.

Anyways. Looking forward to the continued adventures of the Claw Clan. I hope the weasels have fun.

I saw some hints at Seri/Mikey, and while I don't want to dictate what other people do with their art, I DO want to say that if Seri/Mikey does end up happening, I hope it's not for a while yet. Seri is still pretty new to the world having been artificially aged up and all, and she has SO MUCH going on, I think she needs some time to figure herself out and come into her own before she starts anything. I liked Seri/Mikey when it happened in Vol. 4 I think it was? but with the added context of her being artificially aged, I think it needs more time before jumping into it.

Oh what else... did I assume right that the cop arresting Raph was Monty Moose? or inspired by him? Cool beans if so. Nice to see Bob show up and provide yet another perspective on the whole mutation thing. The person who attacked that poor cat lady looked very turtle like... my money is on evil clone. Of who? Slash, probably. (feel free to skip addressing this to avoid confirm or denying spoilers. I'm just tossing things at the wall to see what sticks).

And yeah that was Monty arresting Raph. Monty had already showed up during 125-130, he was Raph's deputy constable. Originally in my script it was just a generic cop but either my editor or Nickelodeon (I forget who exactly!) suggested it should be Monty at the last minute, and I ended up writing Monty into the next issue too.
