SOON.
The blurb (according to Google Translate) says 'The resurrected Parsian warriors stand before Arslan and his companions!!'
#arslan senki#the heroic legend of arslan#TOMORROW#sorry for basically disappearing after last chapter#it's been a rough couple of months for me#anyway I actually had a dream about this next chapter a few nights ago#but it was totally bonkers#basically Narsus predicted everything and saved the day by arranging for the undead warriors to get crushed by rocks#but Isfan had turned into a literal wolf and was being squeezed to death by vines#I think I can safely say that won't happen lmao

No subtitles, but you can watch the full set of Corporate Warrior Arslan episodes on Bilibili here! And for good measure, if anyone wants to watch all the Short Comedy of Arslan ones, this playlist has them. The English subtitled versions were included with the blu ray and DVD releases, so there may also be a torrent out there that includes them.
Anyone know where I can watch ArSen Corporate Warriors? There's only up to episode 3 on YouTube with no subtitles, and I can't find it anywhere else on the internet...
#arslan senki#the heroic legend of arslan#corporate warrior arslan#i feel like i have subbed files somewhere?#but i could be misremembering#maybe i just watched them on the versions i own

Arslan Senki 127
This chapter opens with the titular Legend of the Snake King. I was struck by the many parallels between Arslan and Kaykhusraw illuminated by this tale:
Kaykhusraw’s mission is to overturn Zahhak, an evil that terrorizes his people; Arslan’s mission is to dismantle slavery, an evil that terrorizes his people. They both move toward their goal with small numbers of supporters.
Kaykhusraw first allies himself with Zahhak’s cook — like Arslan, he sees the value of individuals outside of the nobility and military.
Early in his mission, Kaykhusraw faces the reality that he cannot save everyone and settles for saving one person from every pair to be slaughtered for Shoulder Snakes™️. Arslan routinely balks at “settling,” and with the assistance of his allies can generally — but not always — avoid it.
Kaykhusraw’s small army is comprised of 365 “stout youth” who were saved by his partnership with the cook. Arslan quite similarly collects allies by offering grace and mercy.
These points emphasize the most important parallel: Kaykhusraw was the “Hero King” who gained his throne by overturning an unfair and oppressive power — not through the usual succession. Arslan is on the path to do the same. Despite not sharing blood with Kaykhusraw, his mission makes him the true successor to the Hero King.
Alfarid was great in this chapter. I absolutely love who she’s become in Arakawa’s hands. Giggly and love struck? Yes. A skilled leader and warrior who prioritizes practical, immediate needs? Also yes. We see that after Zahhak’s retreat in 127 part 2:
The Zot clan have enormous respect for all dead, not just their own — remember that they will not rob the bodies of the dead, nor the sick and dying. To leave a comrade unburied weighs heavily on them all but imagine how difficult it is for the leader of the Zot to leave members of her clan, her family, unburied and without their final rites.
In many ways, this call is one only Alfarid has the authority to make, and she does so in a frank (but not disrespectful) way. As Arslan has grown in his skills and confidence, his need for advice has diminished. We’ve seen Narsus refuse to make recommendations, leaving the choice to Arslan. Alfarid is effectively Shāh of the Zot, a clan that does not recognize Parsian authority. In this moment she speaks to Arslan as his equal, and thus gives the group the time they need to create as much distance as possible between them and their slithery opponent with regenerative powers and acidic blood.
Alfarid also gives Etoile a fresh horse from one of the fallen Zot members. It’s another sign of Alfarid’s authority and also a lovely indicator that Alfarid sees her as a core part of the group.
They all survived this time… I wonder what the outcome of the final battle against Zahhak will be.
In the novels, the final battle against Zahhak takes place after Arslan’s ascension to the throne. I’ve wondered how Arakawa planned to either condense the time between these events or unify them (and I leaned towards unification, because it’s way more dramatic). The Shoulder Snakes™️ slithering towards Ecbatana with Kaykhusraw’s disintegrating body between them hints at one option — and it involves a new host.
I think Hilmes is about to find out how Zahhak’s devotees plan to put him on the throne.

Anonymous Coward asked: I heard you mention Dynasty Warriors a few times but your last Let's Play was of DW9. Do you think you will do another "Warriors" game on the channel, like the upcoming DW Origins?
New Dynasty Warriors after all this time is a jump scare lol. I played a LOT of Dynasty Warriors as a teenager, so I look back fondly on it, but overall what I value in games has changed a lot since back then.
On the channel I covered Hyrule Warriors (my first Zelda game on the channel lol), which seemed gimmicky and short enough to risk playing, and I did a co-op playthrough of Arslan: The Warriors of Legend. Back on our channel "The SaD Games" I played some Samurai Warriors 4 with Andrew, which I figure is probably their best game so far.
The thing is, the way I used to play Dynasty Warriors games was kinda like how people play, idk, Warframe today. It's inherently repetitive, methodical, and meditative. So I'm not really into the idea of doing a playthrough of one of their games again because there's inherently almost nothing to say. You're often literally doing one combo over and over again for hours lol. I got suckered into trying DW9 because it seemed like it might be an interesting re-invention, but in reality it was the same tired gameplay but without the satisfaction of solving a compact level. There's a Dead Rising / Pathologic vibe to DW levels where your precise actions aren't super involved so they become all about your long term decision-making: the route that you're taking as you PowerWash Simulator across the map. SW4 took this concept in the coolest direction by having you control two characters at once and switch between them, giving you the satisfaction of being able to juggle two routes at once. But you need defined levels. Open world ruined Dynasty Warriors 9 the same way that it ruins basically everything, so I quit.
At this point I feel like I'd only really consider covering one of the games as a co-op experience because at least then we're hanging out and talking about stuff with the game as background noise. That's how I experienced a lot of the series: as local split-screen games. But now we have stuff like Satisfactory etc, so who needs it?
I know nothing about Dynasty Warriors Origins really, but it's single-player only, so that's out the window. I guess I'd have to see if the game reinvents the formula in a way that might be interesting on a more moment-to-moment level. But I kind of doubt it? Until I see otherwise I find it safe to assume that it'd be boring to watch and not that great to commentate over, so I'd rather spare myself the commitment.

I just finished the official lineup for TSOE this July 4th
From left to right we’ve got Ester, Naja, Tariq, Adil, Zufar, Benyamin “Ben”, Fariha, Merten, Yardena, Kohinoor, Aynara and Arslan.
Now here’s the quick descriptions!
Ester - The main protagonist of The song of Ester. A squire of Lusitania training under count Barcacion with the alias, Étoile,. Eventually ends up journeying outside her home kingdom.
Naja - A girl Ester becomes close friends with. A former slave from the lands of Aatish, now seized by Pars the enemy kingdom. Very shy and has trouble speaking up. Goes by the name “Nadir” while serving as a squire with Ester.
Tariq - A former enslaved boy from Sindhura who also ends up in Count Barcacion’s custody. A very persistent kid, despite everything he’s been through.
Adil - Another boy that was also enslaved from the kingdom of Turk. Only living relative he has is his mother. Isn’t the best under pressure but develops a very interesting palate and really likes cooking.
Zufar - Another boy that was enslaved from the southwest, what’s now East Africa. Mother is also alive, but barely knows of his father. A very levelheaded kid who loves a good story.
Ben - Ester’s older brother and a current knight of the Princeguard, warriors who serve and protect Prince Hilmes. Hardworking and does not like the faith of Yaldabaoth, at all.
Fariha - A squire that also serves Prince Hilmes under the alias, “Farim”. The older sister of Merten. Is a responsible older sibling and ends up being close with Ben.
Merten - Also a knight serving the princeguard. Fariha’s younger brother. Is surprisingly relatable when it comes to experiencing chaos and he is in for a heck of a ride. He and Fari also have a lost younger brother they’re searching for.
Yardena - A young girl from the Kinda (Keen-da) kingdom (which is now Saudi Arabia) who ends up coming with the Princeguard. A clever and energetic young girl who ends up becoming close with Merten.
Kohinoor - A young feisty Parsian noblewoman and the 2nd daughter of Lord Hodir. Escaped her own home to avoid an engagement to the crown prince. Ends up joining Ester’s friends and has an older sister, Delara.
Aynara - A girl from a nomadic clan that’s under Tūrān’s rule. Really good at horseback archery. A robust girl who doesn’t give up. Join’s Ester team later in the story and befriends Zufar.
Finally, Arslan - The crown prince of Pars who surprisingly has a supporting role in this story but is 100% lawful good and learning about the land beyond his own kingdom. Has unusually pure white hair and sky colored for a Parsian…
Ester and Arslan belong to The Heroic Legend of Arslan, (c) Yoshiki Tanaka and Hiromu Arakawa

In a distant future, where the boundaries between the natural and the supernatural have blurred, humanity has evolved to coexist with entities from various realms. The majestic elephant in the image, known as the Guardian of Vara, is one of the last of its kind, a species genetically enhanced with mystical symbols that glow with an ethereal light. These symbols are not just decorations; they are powerful runes, embedded into its skin to protect it from the dark forces that have begun to emerge as the veil between worlds thins.
The Guardian roams the vast, desolate landscapes of what was once known as Asia, near the ruins of ancient temples and through forgotten cities swallowed by time. Its role is to safeguard the few remaining pure-hearted souls and guide them towards the sanctuaries, places still untouched by corruption.
Alp Arslan, a renowned bio-engineer turned mystic warrior, comes into the picture as a pivotal character. Alp has been following legends and old wives' tales that hint at a convergence point where all realities meet—a place of immense power and danger. When he encounters the Guardian, Alp immediately recognizes the significance of the runes and the elephant’s role in the upcoming celestial alignment that could either seal the growing rifts between worlds or blow them wide open.
Alp joins forces with the Guardian, learning from the ancient wisdom embedded in its runes. Together, they embark on a perilous journey that takes them through spectral forests, over mountains that whisper forgotten truths, and across rivers that flow with liquid light. Their ultimate destination is the Nexus of All Realities, where Alp believes they can restore balance.
As the celestial alignment approaches, dark creatures from the nether realms grow in strength, attempting to stop Alp and the Guardian. In epic battles, where Alp wields weapons forged from the same runes as those on the Guardian, they fight off these beings, each victory bringing them closer to their goal.
In the climax, at the Nexus, Alp and the Guardian perform an ancient ritual, using the power of the runes to strengthen the barriers between worlds. However, in doing so, Alp realizes that maintaining the balance will require a great sacrifice. In a poignant end, he chooses to merge his essence with the Nexus, becoming a guardian himself, forever watching over the boundaries of reality.
The Guardian of Vara, having lost its human companion but succeeded in its mission, continues to roam the Earth, now protecting the site where Alp stands eternal vigil, a beacon of hope and a reminder of the delicate balance between chaos and order.

Arslan: Warriors of Legend! It was a Warriors style hack and slash game that was made as a tie in to an anime, and I loved it so much, and then it ended!!!!! Right at a cliff hanger!!!! Because the anime hadn't gotten past that point yet and then they never made another one! Very good, if that game is your style.
Every time I read a “Top 100 Best Games Of All Time” list:

Arslan Senki Chapter 132
Hoooooly fuck. I knew from the chapter title (Warriors From Beyond the Grave) that some horrific stuff was going to go down, but after spending all month worrying about Isfan and Kubard facing Shapur, the fact that they don't even appear this time didn't make this one any less traumatic, lmao.
So, the contents of the other head jars were revealed as dead warriors pop up across Ecbatana. Seems as though they are the ones Team Zahhak were able to gather the heads of (the two who were missing in action at the first Battle of Atropatene are not included; presumably their bodies were never located and were left somewhere on the battlefield).
I enjoyed how Arslan does as Tahamenay asked and tells Gieve to spread the word that Andragoras died in the fall when Innocentis flung them both from the tower... and that Gieve looks at the bloody dagger on the floor. You know that he knows, his look to Daryun and Narsus before he gives his assent just confirms it, and you also know he won't breathe a word of that truth.
(And here we have the first of the dodgy translations in this chapter, because of course there's not going to be further fighting between Parsians at this point unless you count undead Parsian warriors...)
I like that we see word spreading like a ripple through the city. Zaravant's reaction of "NO FUCKING WAY" followed by "Wait, really?" was hilarious. And as we see a lot of the citizens are thinking the same; a man of Andragoras's might, toppled like that? Zaravant had a close encounter with Andragoras; it's no surprise that his first reaction is denial.
Also lol Elam, not quite lying in his attempt to uphold the official version of events. Yes, he saw him die, but not quite in the way that was reported. So Zaravant wasn't wrong, really. Not that he'll ever know it.
Rumours spreading that Arslan killed Hilmes in a duel! It does make me wonder, might the truth of Hilmes's survival be kept quiet and this rumour allowed to flourish instead? Mirroring Hilmes surviving when all thought he had perished in the palace fire, this would allow him to eventually make a quiet exit with Irina and go and live out his life peacefully beyond the borders of Pars. (I would still like to see him rule Maryam with her, though.)
Tahamenay being left alone to watch over Andragoras's body is giving me prickling feelings of imminent Team Zahhak interference...
Dark storm clouds heading towards the city in that one panel look veeeery ominous. I still keep wondering whether we are going to see any of Team Zahhak's creatures unleashed on the world. I'm not sure exactly how dark things are going to get, but we did see winged apes when the legend of Zahhak and his earlier defeat was presented in Chapter 127. So who knows?
THE FACT THAT UNDEAD VAHRIZ SHOWS UP IN THE VERY COURTYARD WHERE HE USED TO TRAIN ARSLAN! I cannot scream about this coming full circle enough, and here it is so very wrong.
But even though it's his uncle, Daryun's typically fast warrior's response saves the day and he gets in front of Arslan to defend against Vahriz's blow (and fuck, these undead warriors are fast!).
The horror just continues to mount as more and more famous undead warriors return, but wrong, so very wrong. I am really digging the way they are presented, though.
Silent, black-eyed, still bearing the wounds they wore in death on their faces, their bodies wreathed in bandages... I'm... honestly not sure that anything below the neck is even corporeal. They look like severed heads on bodies formed from sorcery, wrapped in the same sort of magic-infused cloaks that Team Zahhak wear. Even their weapons are formed from tendrils of snakes (see Kharlan's spear forming). It makes me think that when they are defeated, their bodies may just disintegrate and only the severed head will remain. And that's... fucked up, considering they are fighting people who remember them, who fought by their side, who loved them.
More off translation when Manuchurh shows up; Kishward didn't see his head (he was in Peshawar), he only heard about it. I did wonder why Gieve was so slow on the uptake given that it was his report that confirmed Manuchurh's death to Kisward and Nasrin, but he heard about it from Parsian soldiers rather than recognising Manuchurh for himself. That's why he only infers it from how Kishward addresses him here.
I do like that we get to see Manuchurh's sword here! Sure, it's probably made of snakes, but it is at least modeled on the weapon he would have wielded in life, and that's a neat detail to have so late in the story.
As always, I badly wanted to see Team Hilmes but given what's going on my heart still started to beat faster in alarm when we cut to the room they're in. But it's Sam who leaves the room and is confronted by Garshasp! An undead version of the man whose death he envies... not sure I'm ready for this but please for the love of god let Sam kill a sorcerer before this is over.
Please know that when I scrolled down just far enough to spot Kharlan's moustache I scrolled back up so fucking fast and had to sit for a bit before I could continue.
ZANDEEEEEEH. THAT'S NOT YOUR FATHER! His face and the way he says "Father?" so questioningly breaks my heart.
Hilmes sees quickly that it's not, it can't be Kharlan, because he knows Kharlan is dead, and (unlike Zandeh, who hasn't actually witnessed any sorcery yet) he knows that this is something Team Zahhak are capable of... in fact, he knows it can only be them.
For one horrible second I really thought Zandeh was going to get stabbed right in the heart. Definitely made me realise how utterly devastated I'd be if he died in the manga version.
Thankfully the wound he receives on his shoulder doesn't look life-threatening, but you can see how unprepared he is for it, how he can't quite understand why his father (IT'S NOT YOUR FATHER!) is attacking him like this. I really don't think it would have gone well for him if Hilmes hadn't gotten involved. The way these jar warriors move.. It's fast, it's unnatural, it's deadly. These were all skilled warriors in life; are they even more dangerous now they are dead?
Hilmes protecting Zandeh like this is a brilliant moment, and never have I been so fucking glad to see Hilmes in a rage as I was to see him FINALLY display some anger towards the sorcerers who he knows are responsible. He must finally see now that they are not, and never were, on his side. Sam was right, and I hope Hilmes lets him know before this is over.
I keep thinking about the way the eyes of some of the undead seem to leak blood like tears... their faces look... empty, I guess, but this does make me wonder, is there any sort of awareness there? Do they know what their bodies are being used for? That bit of blood in Kharlan's eye at the end; is there part of him that somehow knows he's attacking his son? Perhaps it's nothing more than the remains oozing blood as they are puppeted by sorcery. The thought that there might be even a fragment of consciousness there is horrific, so I truly hope not.
So yeah, no sign of the encounter with Shapur but all of the undead jar warriors have now taken to the stage, and that stage is set for some unpleasant clashes next chapter. I hope to see some Team Zahhak deaths for sure, and I'm still banking on Team Arslan capturing a mage before this is all over. I imagine the disciples are largely seen as disposable by the Holy Master at this point, but there's no way he would allow himself to be killed or captured so easily, not when he is so close to his goal.
I am worried, though. This is... a lot... for all of Team Arslan to come through unscathed. What a horrible position for them to be in, and even if their instincts tell them that they're not fighting their comrades/relatives, they're surely at a disadvantage due to the shock and emotional turmoil involved. And I'm left wondering, what are Team Zahhak up to? What's the purpose in bringing the dead back like this? Do they wish to kill, torment, or capture other warriors as snake food? Do they simply seek to cause Ecbatana to fall into chaos? Where the heck is Zahhak?
It's going to be a difficult month until the next chapter, lol.
