Listen/purchase: Trying Times by Serious Nubian
Well, here I am back again with another Podcast complete with a new Poster design. Didn't get much time in the Studio this past week. I had some issues with the car that had to be taken care of so my mind was more focused on that to get the situation sorted. Was'nt much of an issue when I think about but it was a bloody major inconvenience just the same. Only one thing that pisses me off about Canada and makes me miserable and that's the goddam sub-zero temperatures in the winter. Last week it got so goddammed cold that it drained the power from my car battery and I couldn't get my car started. It's never happened before I ''ve had that car for about 5 years now and never had an issue in the previous winters. Had to use public transport and a taxi to get about and was constantly reminded as to why I bought the car in the first place. It's all sorted now and I'm more mindful of the weather conditions in the winter. But now back to the topic of Music. Still working on some brand new tracks in the studio, i did mention that this music will be out in August but now I can't say for sure it might be sooner or later i can't say at present but one thing is that it will be out in 2024. So here are the tracks that are on this current Podcast Episode 1. Makes No Difference (by Marcus Davis / Composer/Producer/Bass/Keyboards/Drum Programming/Vocodor) 2. How Come You Never Ask ( by Marcus Davis /Composer/Producer/Bass/Keyboards/Drum Programming/Vocodor) 3. Ribbon, Arron Kuiper
A dark and moody abstract medley, forms impose themselves then slip behind lines and pattern elements. Layer upon layer blend in conflict and resignation in an ordered chaos that could be a scrapyard or a hoard of Victorian bric-a-brac found in a loft.

beep Wales International Painting Prize 2016
16/11/16 - 23/12/16
A Touring Exhibition.
16 November - 23 December 2016 at Arcade Cardiff
Beep was launched in 2012 and takes place every 2 years: Bi – ennial exhibition of painting = Beep.
Beep will return in 2018. Beep is an offsite project run by elysium gallery www.elysiumgallery.com
Taking place at different venues every two years, Beep supports imaginative and vibrant practice in contemporary painting.
’This must be the place I never wanted to leave’ aims to explore notions of perception, memory and belonging grounded in a place, space or time in the medium of paint. The recognition of ‘the place I never wanted to leave’ (and may have left, by will or necessity) becomes a profound awareness of the elusive nature of objective reality. In longing for another place and time suggests a longing to restore totality of being.

Terra Infirma
Arron Kuiper at Modern Alchemist Gallery, Cardiff
06.02.2014 - 14.02.2014
I went to see an exhibition at the Modern Alchemist Gallery called Terra Infirma having received an online invitation. I was unsure at first as to what exactly this was going to be, thinking that the images I could find online looked quite similar to plasticise or modelling clay. I was also quite sure that it would be impossible to use oil paint in gel to create 3D paintings, otherwise surely it would have been done before.
However this was one of the most exciting exhibitions I have seen and I absolutely recommend for EVERYONE , to go and have a look at it in its last few days at the Gallery. The work Its very different, very interesting, mind blowing , definetly confusing but really fun to look at and most of all the technique and the work is very inspirational and skilful.

Sunset Willow, Arron Kuiper
A weeping willow at the waters edge caught in the last golden rays of a summers eve. This was created with pallet knife and syringes using oil paint and hydrogel on treated paper. I wanted to capture that midsummer essence of warmth and dream like haze, everything being in its right place like the willow at the edge of a pond. One of my favourite trees with so much personality in its form and general aesthetic. They seem to be almost reclining whilst gently sipping from the cooling water of the lake, serene and immovable, fronds swayed and tickled by the breeze.

Sun and the Worm, Arron Kuiper
A real mix of style technique and media here. It started with paint applied with a syringe, making random forms and then letting them inform other shapes and textures. It since has had brushed paint, graphite, charcoal pencil and chalk. One of those that you keep adding to every now and again in the hope it'l be right one day. The original subject is as lost to me now as is the white surface I started with. A red creature and a possible sun seem the most obvious features but there are springs, black light rays and vaguely geometric forms as part of an almost vorticist aesthetic. I live in hope that someone will one day tell me what it means.

Lighter x Four, Arron Kuiper
Four paintings on paper, all of the same size; I guess they just seem to belong together, you know? I was making technical drawings at the time featuring everyday objects; these objects came from the studio or my pockets, especially those whose design I admired. The images I found most successful, however, were ones retaining a design aesthetic, yet remaining removed from the object itself, leaving an emblematic and constructivist image. These pieces feature a cigarette lighter as viewed from above. I repeated the subject four times to emulate mass production whilst still retaining a hand-painted feel. One piece even features a section of an aluminium drinks can.

Speed Painting Portrait 4, Arron Kuiper
Another portrait produced using syringes of oil paint and paper laid on a flat horizontal surface. It is quite a gestural form of painting; each movement is wilder and more unpredictable because of the movement of the syringe and distance from the paper's surface. The technique creates an image comprised of many movements, intentions, and gestures. This is heightened by trying to paint as fast as possible. Also present is some vague and staccato brushwork.

Flesh and Bone, Arron Kuiper
The process of generating this piece was a little more organic than one might expect. Hydrogel was added to the stained surface and pushed around with an old library card; this pushed back the surface colour and produced sweeping forms a little akin to large and dappled brush strokes. Work then began with charcoal and pencils to highlight and bring out forms next joined into a surreal anatomical construction. It is quite grotesque, a strange almost memento mori type of aesthetic with anatomical illustrative overtones. Slight rumpling due to the hydrogel, though there are textural qualities; price reflects slight damage from pigment and hydrogel removal.

Our Athletes, Arron Kuiper
As with a lot I was producing at the time this began very abstract, bisecting lines applied with a syringe of hydrogel and oil paint. The intention was to fill the shapes created with the colours of the union jack with their triangular nature referencing the nature of the flag. A parody in short, highlighting the divided and broken nature of the UK today. However a cartoon figure started to emerge with an angular style reminiscent of the London Olympics logo. A new theme emerged which considered the fact that a lot was spent on sports and athletic development increasing Team GB's medal haul, then and in subsequent Olympics whilst the country still faces crippling austerity and rising inequality. This tactic of patriotic distraction cynically disposes of the achievements of individuals and even the main point of the event itself. It makes fools of our athletes and us through no fault of our own.
