Part 2
9. One of my favourite Taylor Swift songs
10. Idk why I get emotional at this but I do.
11. This one reminds me of a book but is good otherwise too
12. This one is so special to me because we had an event in school where I sang this. I enjoyed it so much. The music video is super good too. This is literally my only motivation to do well in life at this point. The chorus is something along the lines of 'I have one life and a hundred dreams. I'll fulfil each one. It's hard to stop me'
One of my favourite passages. You'll know which one it is because the music slows abruptly is literally amazing
13. These two I'm so attached to these days for literally no reason
PART TWO PART TWO🥰🌼✨
ohhh I'm so sad I didn't really like her midnights album ;-; but I'll listen to this one once again for you🥺
Oh oh everything else is completely new to me so ima start listening them right after I finish part 1~

1. Maahi Ve
A recreation of the 2002 chartbuster, Maahi Ve was given a modern twist with vocals by Neha Kakkar. While retaining the essence of the original, this rendition stands out with its sultry tone and contemporary beats. The combination of sensuous lyrics and captivating visuals struck a chord with listeners, making it a favorite on playlists across the country.
2. Dil Ke Paas

3. Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (Reprise)
The reprise of Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas in Wajah Tum Ho beautifully reimagines the original Kishore Kumar classic. Arijit Singh’s voice lends an ethereal quality to the song, bridging the gap between generations of music lovers.
4. Wajah Tum Ho (Title Track)
The title track, sung by Armaan Malik, captures the intense emotions of love and betrayal. Its lyrics, combined with Malik’s soul-stirring voice, make it a powerful centerpiece of the album. The hauntingly beautiful music video amplifies its impact, making it a song that lingers long after it’s played.
5. Hasi Ban Gaye
Although not an original composition for Wajah Tum Ho, Hasi Ban Gaye deserves mention as it appeared in the film’s narrative. Sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Ami Mishra, this song carries a delicate beauty that complements the film's dramatic undertones.

The Rising Stars of India’s Music Scene
India’s music industry is a melting pot of tradition and innovation, producing some of the world’s most talented artists. In recent years, the rise of digital platforms has given emerging musicians an unparalleled opportunity to showcase their talent. From soulful classical renditions to contemporary indie beats, these music artists in India are breaking boundaries and gaining global recognition. This article delves into the rising stars of India’s music scene and explores how they are reshaping the industry.
The Evolution of Indian Music
Indian music has a rich history, deeply rooted in its diverse culture. Over the decades, Bollywood has been the epicenter of India’s music industry, producing iconic songs and playback singers. However, a new wave of independent musicians is challenging the status quo, blending traditional influences with modern genres like EDM, pop, and hip-hop.
The accessibility of platforms like Spotify and YouTube has allowed these artists to reach audiences far beyond India, creating a thriving independent music scene that rivals mainstream Bollywood.
Spotlight on Rising Indian Artists
Prateek Kuhad Known for his soothing voice and heartfelt lyrics, Prateek Kuhad gained global recognition when his song was featured on Barack Obama’s year-end playlist. He exemplifies the rise of independent music in India.
DIVINE One of the pioneers of India’s hip-hop scene, DIVINE’s raw and relatable lyrics have resonated with fans across the country. His journey from Mumbai’s streets to global stages is an inspiration.
Armaan Malik A versatile singer with a knack for both Bollywood hits and independent tracks, Armaan Malik is one of the most prominent music artists in India today. His foray into international music has expanded his reach even further.
Jonita Gandhi With her unique ability to switch between Western and Indian styles, Jonita Gandhi is a powerhouse of talent. Her collaborations with leading composers have made her a favorite among fans.
Ritviz A rising star in the indie-electronic scene, Ritviz has captivated listeners with his experimental sounds and innovative music videos. His songs often blend traditional Indian melodies with contemporary beats.
The Role of Digital Platforms
The success of these artists can largely be attributed to the digital revolution. Platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube have democratized access to music, allowing independent artists to bypass traditional gatekeepers. Questions like can I download songs from Spotify highlight the platform's growing importance in India’s music ecosystem.
Social media also plays a crucial role in amplifying these artists' reach. Viral trends, Instagram reels, and TikTok challenges have brought songs like Ritviz's "Udd Gaye" and DIVINE's "Mere Gully Mein" into the mainstream.
Collaborations that Break Boundaries
Collaboration has been a defining trend in India’s music scene. Artists like Raja Kumari, who seamlessly blends Indian classical music with hip-hop, exemplify the possibilities of cross-genre experimentation. Similarly, Bollywood tracks featuring independent artists have gained immense popularity, offering fresh perspectives to listeners.
International collaborations have also become more common, as seen with Armaan Malik’s English-language singles that cater to global audiences. These partnerships highlight the versatility of India’s artists and their ability to adapt to different musical styles.
Staying Updated with Indian Music Trends
For music enthusiasts, staying informed about the latest trends and artists is essential. Keeping an eye on music news in India offers insights into album releases, concerts, and artist interviews. With India’s music industry growing at an unprecedented pace, there’s always something new to discover.
Why Independent Artists Matter
Independent artists represent the voice of a generation, tackling themes like mental health, social issues, and personal growth. Their unfiltered and authentic approach resonates with younger audiences, making their music both relatable and impactful.
Unlike mainstream artists, who often work within the constraints of commercial expectations, independent musicians have the freedom to experiment. This creative liberty has resulted in groundbreaking tracks that redefine the boundaries of Indian music.
Conclusion
The rise of independent music artists in India marks a new chapter in the country’s rich musical legacy. With the help of digital platforms and global collaborations, these artists are taking Indian music to new heights. Whether you’re a fan of soulful ballads, electrifying beats, or experimental sounds, India’s music scene offers something for everyone.

How Mumbai's Music Industry Adapts to Changing Trends
The music industry in Mumbai is known for its adaptability, reflecting India’s dynamic cultural landscape and keeping pace with shifting global trends. From Bollywood’s dominance to the rise of indie and hip-hop scenes, Mumbai’s music industry continuously evolves to meet the changing preferences of its listeners. This adaptability is powered by technological advances, collaborations across genres, and the ability to incorporate both local and international influences seamlessly. This article explores how the music industry in Mumbai has transformed to keep up with changing times, embracing new sounds, platforms, and trends that make it a unique powerhouse of creativity and innovation.
1. The Rise of Hip-Hop and Gully Rap Culture
One of the most significant transformations in the music industry in Mumbai has been the explosive rise of hip-hop and "gully rap," a genre of rap born out of the city’s streets and expressive of the struggles and aspirations of its people. Artists like DIVINE and Naezy pioneered this style, bringing authentic stories and local slang to the mainstream. Their lyrics highlight the raw realities of urban life in Mumbai’s underprivileged areas, addressing issues like poverty, crime, and resilience.
The popularity of gully rap surged after the release of the Bollywood film Gully Boy, which featured Ranveer Singh portraying a character inspired by real-life Mumbai rappers. This movie catapulted hip-hop into the spotlight, allowing gully rap to resonate with audiences nationwide. As a result, rap is no longer an underground genre in Mumbai; it’s part of the mainstream and continues to shape Mumbai’s music landscape.
2. Impact of Streaming Platforms on the Music Landscape
Digital streaming platforms have been game-changers in the music industry in Mumbai. With platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Gaana, and JioSaavn, music is more accessible than ever before. These platforms allow users to discover new artists, genres, and even old Bollywood classics with just a click. For artists, streaming services offer a chance to reach a broader audience without the backing of a major label.
Indie artists and smaller genres now have a platform to share their music and grow their fanbase. Before the era of streaming, Bollywood songs were the only widely accessible music in India. Today, listeners have access to music from all over the world, as well as homegrown indie and regional artists. Streaming has also allowed the music industry in Mumbai to access data insights that help understand listener preferences, which is instrumental in developing targeted promotional campaigns and giving the audience what they want.
3. Social Media’s Role in Audience Engagement and Artist Growth
Social media has become indispensable for musicians in Mumbai, allowing them to build and engage with their audience directly. Platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok have revolutionized how music is marketed and consumed. For instance, Instagram allows artists to share sneak peeks, personal moments, and collaborations, creating a personal connection with fans that was not previously possible.
YouTube has also been pivotal for emerging artists in Mumbai’s music scene. Many indie musicians upload their songs and music videos on YouTube, gaining fans and followers without a huge budget. Success stories like Shirley Setia and Armaan Malik demonstrate how YouTube and other social platforms can propel talented artists to stardom. TikTok, before its ban in India, was also a major player in popularizing songs through short videos, helping many artists go viral almost overnight.
4. The Blending of Genres: From Bollywood to Fusion Music
Mumbai’s music industry has long been known for Bollywood, but genre-blending has become increasingly common, attracting fans who crave innovation and creativity. Bollywood composers now regularly incorporate elements from various genres, including hip-hop, electronic, jazz, and even reggae. This shift reflects a generation that values diverse sounds and influences.
Fusion genres are gaining immense popularity, with artists blending Indian classical and folk music with Western styles. This combination results in a fresh, unique sound that reflects Mumbai’s multicultural essence. Notable artists like AR Rahman, Amit Trivedi, and Pritam frequently experiment with fusion music, bringing classical Indian sounds to contemporary audiences. For the indie scene, bands like Indian Ocean and The Raghu Dixit Project blend traditional Indian instruments with rock, jazz, and blues to create a sound that is distinctly Indian yet globally appealing.
This fusion trend is not only limited to Bollywood. Live music venues and festivals across Mumbai regularly feature fusion bands and artists, further enriching the diversity of the city’s music scene. Mumbai's audiences are open-minded and curious, making the city an ideal place for musicians to experiment and take risks.
5. Audience Evolution: Younger Listeners and Their Diverse Tastes
The tastes and preferences of Mumbai’s younger audience are also driving change in the music industry. This new generation is exposed to global music through streaming and social media, leading to more eclectic music tastes. Younger listeners are not just satisfied with Bollywood; they’re open to indie, electronic, regional, and even experimental genres.
Today’s audience is also more discerning, valuing authenticity and originality over formulaic hits. This has given rise to more unique and thought-provoking lyrics, with artists addressing a range of social, political, and personal themes. Fans are more vocal about the music they love, frequently sharing recommendations, engaging with artists on social media, and supporting local talent at live events. This shift in audience preferences has compelled the music industry in Mumbai to move beyond Bollywood hits and embrace a wider range of genres and artists.
6. Global Collaborations and Cross-Cultural Influences
The music industry in Mumbai has become more globally interconnected, with Indian artists increasingly collaborating with international musicians. These collaborations bring fresh perspectives to Mumbai’s music and introduce Indian sounds to a global audience. For example, Indian pop artist Ritviz collaborated with Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire, blending his signature Indian electronic sound with global beats. Similarly, Bollywood’s Rahat Fateh Ali Khan collaborated with British pop artist Ed Sheeran, creating a unique fusion that appealed to diverse audiences.
These collaborations highlight Mumbai’s growing presence on the global stage. They also benefit emerging artists who gain exposure through collaborations with established names in the international music scene. This trend of cross-cultural collaborations is expected to continue, further broadening the appeal of Mumbai’s music industry.
7. Embracing Change: Where is Mumbai’s Music Industry Headed?
As the music industry in Mumbai continues to embrace new trends and technologies, its future looks promising. The rise of indie music, digital streaming, social media, and genre-blending all indicate a shift towards a more inclusive and diverse music scene. Artists now have more freedom to create authentic work without having to conform to Bollywood’s formula. This evolving industry reflects Mumbai’s culture as a city that thrives on creativity, resilience, and inclusivity.
The post-COVID landscape also suggests a resurgence of live music, with audiences eager to reconnect through concerts, festivals, and intimate gigs. Hybrid events combining live performances with online streaming offer an expanded audience reach and a way for artists to connect with fans in innovative ways. As Mumbai’s music scene adapts to these changing dynamics, it is sure to remain a leading force in Indian music, showcasing a blend of traditional roots and contemporary influences.
Conclusion:
The music industry in Mumbai is constantly adapting to shifting trends, driven by a blend of technology, diverse genres, and evolving audience tastes. From the rise of gully rap and digital platforms to fusion music and global collaborations, Mumbai’s music scene showcases a dynamic mix of sounds and cultures. As the industry continues to evolve, it will remain a vibrant space where tradition and modernity coexist, shaping the future of Indian music. For music lovers and artists alike, the future of the music industry in Mumbai holds boundless opportunities and creativity.

Diljit Dosanjh shares kindest words over collaborating with Ed Sheeran; says, “He truly knows how to work a crowd”
Diljit Dosanjh surprised the audience by performing with Ed Sheeran during his Mumbai concert on March 16.
Ed Sheeran arrived in Mumbai, earlier this week, for a musical concert which was held in the city on March 16, Saturday. Needless to say, it was truly a magnanimous concert with several Indian fans cheering and showering love on the American pop artist. The International songwriter however, also had special surprises for these fans as he brought two guest performers with him – one was the melodious Bollywood singer Armaan Malik who swooned the crowd with his chartbusters and the other was the one who added ample Punjabi tadka – Diljit Dosanjh.
Tumblr media
Diljit Dosanjh, who has made the country proud even internationally becoming the first Indian singer to have performed at Coachella, collaborated with Ed Sheeran in the recently held concert at Mahalaxmi Race Course in South Mumbai. In fact, on Sunday, the duo took to social media to share a video of two of them jamming on the famous Dosanjh song, ‘Lover’ with even Sheeran mouthing the Punjabi lyrics, which left the audiences enthralled.
Talking about this opportunity to collaborating with the American pop singer, Diljit had only kind words to share as he said, "It was wonderful performing with Ed last evening. He truly knows how to work a crowd. He is such a giving artist and sharing the stage with him was a real joy and an absolute honour. Whoever said language is a barrier needs to know that music is a language of its own."
Ed Sheeran is expected to have taken off for his next destination since he is on an Asia-Europe musical tour. Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh was recently seen entertaining Indian celebrities at the famous Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding celebrations in Jamnagar. Diljit is also gearing up for the release of his next Bollywood films which includes Chamkila with Parineeti Chopra and Crew co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon in lead roles.
