The Black Thorns is meant to be a particularly large gang within New York City. It is supposed to have recently thinned in numbers after Poesy forcefully took over. Nonetheless, it still holds many pieces of territory, many members, and a great deal of wealth. The gang is also meant to have recently made itself a rival of the Razor Flame due to past actions on Poesy's part.

Previously, the gang is meant to have sought to merely collect territory a bit like they were candy. However, in doing so, the previous leader, Daemon, managed to make a bit of trouble for himself as he ignored the desires of those following himself. As the moment, I see Poesy effectively trying to be a bit of a people pleaser to her own people...which likely means quite a bit of violence.

"The Right-Hand Man" / Mortal / FC: Kyouko Kirigi

The Right-Hand Man is supposed to have been with Poesy from day one and, without a doubt, has always been genuinely loyal. They are not necessarily the most skilled person within the gang, but their use has always come from their link within. She is much closer to the other members and has been around longer, which is exactly why she has the position she does.

Overall, she's meant to be on the younger side but definitely not too young. Probably somewhere in her late twenties or so. Her appearance is open and the play by is only a suggest. She must be human.

Outside of this, she is pretty open.

"The Old Regime" / Open Species / FC: Arima Kishou

This individual is meant to be in a one-sided rivalry with the leader of the Black Thorns, Poesy. He was Daemon's second, something that is likely obvious, and is not meant to have ever liked Poesy, having held a fair amount of distrust for her for a good amount of time. Most notably, he is effectively not the sort of person you should mess with as he is basically on another skill level than most criminals around him.

Appearance: He probably doesn't come across as someone who was ever (and maybe still is) in a gang. He has that stereotypical look of someone you'd expect to be pushing papers in an office, as he looks incredibly neat, dresses quite formal, and clean. He is also probably a bit older than most of those around him (likely being older than even Daemon himself before he kicked the bucket). Definitely the sort who might fit in more with more organized crime.

Personality: He is not someone who is meant to get along well with others. I see him as just generally being unpleasant. He likely has odd reasons for being involved in crime, such as having a god-complex. He is 100% a hypocrite and others in the gang definitely didn't like him much. It was just his skill that stopped most from crossing him. 

Speaking of which, I effectively see him more on the level of a professional killer than many of those around him (who are likely comparable to kids with guns) and chances were he was fine with reminding people of that. This would just be one of many reasons why he didn't trust Poesy as he would have realized that she was more within his league when it came to killing. While it is open as to whether or not he is magical, he is not meant to have ever realized she was magical.

History: Overall, his history is fairly open. All that needs to be taken in mind is that he managed to survive the takeover because Poesy incapacitated him since circumstances made attempting to kill him too difficult. He's meant to hold a grudge against her at the moment. Exactly what he's doing now is open, but I do see him want a bit of revenge.

TWO HEADCANONS YOU HAVE FOR YOUR MUSE THAT YOU NEVER TOLD ANYONE

01  .  He’s quite good at bartending. Mixing up drinks, even creating new ones, non-alcoholic, alcoholic, you name it, he’s probably able to make it. That whole little ‘skill’ results out of his relationship with Kain ( @diiablerie ), who is a bartender and owner of one after all. That little pastime first began with staying after work while Kain mixed drinks for them, resulting in the request to be shown a few tricks here and there. He’s since then often trying things and Kain leaves, sometimes, the bar in his care as well while doing errands or other little tidbits. It’s highly likely that, when visiting him, you can just ask and he will make you something.

02  .  Money doesn’t exactly mean anything for him. If he needs something, the CCG will get it for him anyway, so bounty from hunts or salary mostly goes by unused. He’s quite swift, on the opposite, to offer it up for people he cares for or about, buying things for his squad or Haise’s squad when something is needed. Acquiring items for his partner when he feels like it. It’s the only real ‘use’ he sees for money, to use it for someone he cares about, while otherwise just ignoring it altogether. 

THREE THINGS THAT YOUR MUSE LIKES DOING IN THEIR FREE TIME

01  .  reading, quite a lot, the genre doesn’t really matter to him, but he does like fantastic and psychological books the most

02  .  he does some significant research on history, just for his own personal interest. especially military history, no matter if western or his own country’s, he will try to read up on it and also try to utilise it

03  .  sparring in general. it’s relaxing, mind-numbing in a way, as well as gets him physically exhausted when he has a good partner in it ( or multiple partners, just goes to spar an hour, probably goes through ten to twelve people and beats them, and only so ‘few’ because they keep debating who’s the next while he waits ). his favourite, undoubtfully, is Hirako who also is able to take most of it

TWO THINGS YOUR MUSE REGRETS

01  .  he sometimes regrets his own cruelty, be it to ghouls or even other humans, but he would admit it’s his personal nature. it’s nothing he’s going to change, he’s admitting he’s at fault if it goes too far, but he isn’t extremely apologetic about it, still, sometimes he regrets certain things that happened 02  .  falling out of closer contact with Taishi, it’s a shame for him sometimes, as he has the hunch it is for Taishi - but nothing can be really done about it.

TWO PHOBIAS YOUR MUSE HAS

01  .  Doctors That’s a personal one I talked with a few people about it by now, due to the life in the Sunlit Garden ( and the behaviour in the CCG in general ), he’s quite aversive towards medical attention and towards Doctors. He can talk to them, sometimes, and control himself, but he rather just shuts completely down and turns away, especially if they are visible as being in their profession, then it’s possible that he just up and leaves. It’s quite favourable for him that he’s completely undefeated and very healthy, but if there would be something, he rather just goes to a friend he knows can help him, than to any doctor at all.

02  .  Failure He says personally that the half-humans from the Sunlit Garden, are to be regarded as failures, that they were seen as failures, that they, yes indeed, have the enhanced strength, speed and skills, but they age faster and will die much earlier. Failure is a thing that pretty much runs through any investigator’s life, given how many of their friends and comrades EVERY one of them lost over the time, so it is an understandable fear to be had. But if you are basically called a failure and live with that very mindset ( even going so far as to speaking it out while dying ) then this is something engraved, something that made him so harsh with those around him. Praise makes people overconfident, grants room for errors. He just doesn’t want to fail in protecting those important to him, in helping those that need it, in his own ( obviously ) screwed perception, warped time and time again. Even that, if you look at it, he always excelled in anything.

01  .  he talks to himself a lot. he’s his own one-man band, his own cheerleader; self-serving and completely independent. furuta doesn’t need friends - furuta is every friend he’d ever want or need within himself. on the rare days when he has a free schedule, furuta will probably stay in his apartment, cooking for an imaginary audience like a show host, reading a book with custom narration and voice acting for each character, singing himself to sleep when it evades him for just that bit too long. he doesn’t need anyone else to fulfill his social needs because he can fulfill is own just fine --- the sunlit garden was a very lonely place after rize left.

02  .  he visits rize in the tank a lot. sometimes to gloat about her demise, sometimes to confess his undying love, sometimes to lament over the ‘good days’. but sometimes, just to watch. the female body is an enigma to him and he’ll sit and admire her curvature, her delicate features, her long hair. she is the embodiment of female beauty and deep down, furuta knows it will never be his willingly. he’ll sit cross legged in front of the tank, play with lint on the floor and tell her everything. it’s easier when she can’t run away. 

THREE THINGS THAT YOUR MUSE LIKES DOING IN THEIR FREE TIME

-  cooking; complete with frilly apron! with human meat, of course -  sitting with rize; talking of days gone by and future plans -  visits the theater; he loves musicals best.

-  rize kamishiro, it’s a love / hate kinda thing -  the clowns! closest thing he has to friends -  ui koori, best advisor with the best hair -  maiko aki , calls him out on his bs -  dr. kanou, made all of his dreams come tru <3 -  jay , pet project -  mr. mm, no one else gives him friday night entertainment like mm-san

TWO PHOBIAS YOUR MUSE HAS

i’m not sure if furuta has phobias, however he definitely has some things he’ll avoid:

01  .  FIGHTING furuta is a good fighter. he’s quick, he’s methodical and he’s strong... but he hates fighting. he was a defective weakling in the sunlit garden, he could never keep up with the likes of arima kishou and hairu ihei. he hesitated too much, never hit hard enough, never tried to. i imagine, pre-ghoulification, he knew how to dispel a fight (and that always resulted in going for the eyes) and he knew how to get out of there quickly. post-ghoulification, he is confident now he has an exceptional kagune, rapid healing and the rotten follow as a quinque, but he in no way enjoys it. you literally have to back him into a corner before he will fight like he has something to lose. until then, it’s half-measures.

02  .  GARDENS gardens are a place to find peace for most people, but for furuta, they remind him of times he would much rather forget. you’ll find him in the sterility of a laboratory long before you’ll find him treading carefully through the flora of a garden.
