“On this emotional night of Dancing With the Stars, our next couple bore their souls to each other as they discussed their most memorable years. Watch Aricka Mitchell and Bradley Bradshaw as they prepare for a heartwarming waltz to a classic Josh Groban song.”
~~~~~~~ interview~~~~~~~~~~~~
“So this week- Most Memorable Year. For me, as a pro, it’s this year, because I’m actually a first year pro for the show and I am just so honored and excited to be a part of this whole process. But also- my most memorable year was 2,003, when my parents got married,” Aricka says, sitting in her chair. “It’s no secret if you’ve watched this show that my dad and my now mom fell in love on the show. My biological mother decided early on that she didn’t want any part of my life so she decided to give me to my dad, and he didn’t even hesitate before accepting me into his life.” She wiped tears from her eyes and off-camera Bradley said something inaudible to her, making her smile softly. “Thanks. I’m really grateful to my parents- my dad Pete and my true mom Penny- who not only are my favorite adults in the world but also gave me a little sister! Amelia is a dancer on DWTS Junior and she’s a little star. But also this week is about Bradley’s most memorable year as well, and we’ve had several conversations about them.”
“My most memorable year- like Aricka I have two. When I was four, my dad- a now retired Naval aviator- was involved in a pretty serious accident during training; and it almost cost him his life.” Bradley gets real quiet for a long while, and Aricka walks over to give him an encouraging hug. He hid his face in her shoulder for a moment; regaining his composure. The two sit together, and he begins talking to her like she’s the only one in the room. “He survived the accident, but he was paralyzed from the waist down as a result. He was the one that taught me how to play piano.”
“I remember you telling me about that,” Aricka says softly, her hand on his wrist. “What’s your other most memorable year?”
Bradley seems to perk up at that question, “when I was 23, I got my big acting break. I was cast as Willard in the remake of Footloose, and it was the most fun I’d had in a long time. That’s when I realized that I could dance at least a little bit, and that someday I wanted to be on this show.”
~~~~~~ rehearsal ~~~~~~~
“So, I know we have it planned so that your parents are at the show this week, so I was thinking- we end this dance with me spinning you around to face them; and you all hug. How does that sound to you?”
“Sounds like you’ll need to have some tissues hiding somewhere for us afterwards,” Bradley says, pulling her into the correct waltz frame. “So, talk me through this.”
Aricka begins coaching him through the steps they’d do, and then they begin working on the lifts they would be incorporating into the song, which Bradley caught and held her every time without coming near dropping her.
“You’re going to do great, I promise you. You have all it takes to do this Bradley. And to prove how much I believe in you, I took the liberty of inviting some special people to come watch our last rehearsal before the show.”
The door to the rehearsal room opens and in came Nick and Carole Bradshaw, and Bradley inhaled sharply before running over to hug his parents, before returning to swing Aricka up in a hug of thanks and gratitude. “Show us what you got; Brad,” Carole says, sitting beside her husband as the music began.
And the video faded to let the dance begin…
~~~~~~~ dance ~~~~~~~~
“Dancing the waltz, with his partner Aricka Mitchell, it’s Bradley Bradshaw!”
The music began, and the spotlights shone on Aricka and Bradley, Bradley a few steps in front of Aricka, head down, fists clenched. Aricka floats toward him, slipping under his arm, and he dips her carefully, gripping her hand as they move to the waltz hold, and begin gliding around the room.
They let go, and Bradley sinks to the ground, sitting on the steps, and Aricka crouches behind him, head on his shoulder and her arms sliding around him in a hug, and he takes her right hand in his left,spinning her out as he stands, before they reached the chorus.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains…
Bradley pulls Aricka back to him, where they stood, her back against his chest, as they glided around the room, before Bradley released her.
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas…
Aricka runs to him; and Bradley lifts her, before dropping her like he did in their jive dance, swinging her around carefully by her wrist and ankle, setting her down to prepare for the next move.
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be…..
The pair separate, so that they’re across the room from each other, crouched on the ground, waiting.
The climax of the song hits, and Aricka explodes off the ground and back into Bradley’s arms as he lifts her over his head, setting her down to resume the waltz frame, the pair of them whirling around the room like a tornado, and nobody in the audience could ignore the bright shine of tears in the couples’ eyes as they finished the song.
Bradley crouched back on the ground, but this time; Aricka gripped him under his shoulders, lifted him up; and spun him around as the song ended,
You raise me up … to more than I … can be…..
To see his parents there, waiting for him like they had in rehearsal.
Pete walks across the dance floor to his daughter; and she jumped into his arms without so much as a care for who might be watching them.
~~~~~~~~~ judges comments and scores ~~~~~~~
Carrie-Anne: “that was such a beautiful, touching and emotionally charged dance! I can see the love and the trust you have not just for the dance but for each other and it shows so much in how you treat each other. Keep up the good work.” Score of 10.
Pete: “I don’t often not know what to say, but in this moment I truly don’t know what to say. Aricka. Seeing you today; shining like the star I know you were born to be- I’m so proud of how far you’ve come in life. Bradley your heart and your ability to strive to do better each dance is what this show is about, and I can’t wait to see what you do next week.” Score of 10.
Derek: “I can’t believe this show is almost over and we’ll soon not be able to see you two dance every week-! It’s gold, what we’ve struck here. Bradley thank you, for trusting us and for being so vulnerable and open with us and sharing your story tonight. Aricka, I remember watching the season where your mom and dad finally admitted to being a couple and seeing how you ran onto the stage to hug them both. It truly is a family show for you, and I’m so happy to see you thriving this season.” Score of 10.
Bruno: “A waltz with heart and emotion and so much passion between pro and celebrity. I have no notes other than it was way too short and I wanted to see more.” Score of 10.
Total score: 40/40

StrangerNatural: return to the bunker
(The Hawkins Seven, the Party, team free will; Aricka Munson-Winchester x Billy Hargrove. Aricka Hopper x Steve)
(After they killed Vecna, everyone involved with the UpsideDown fight move to Kansas. Aricka comes home.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Aricka’s bedroom courtesy of Pinterest. If you want rooms for the teens and kids of Hawkins let me know-!)
All the cars that had left Hawkins pull into the garage of the bunker. Aricka pulls her baby- her ‘69 Dodge Charger- into it’s spot, right next to Dean’s car. She sits for a moment, anxiously gripping the steering wheel.
She was home. But was it still home-?
“Aricka?” Chrissy. “You okay, sweetie?” Always perceptive, that Chrissy Cunningham.
“Yeah,” she said. “Just a little anxious to be home.”
“Well, I don’t think anyone here blames you- for us it’s only been six months but for you it’s been six whole years. You have every right to be nervous.” Jeff, Lucas and Erica Sinclair had already exited the car, walking over to their friends. Aricka nods, and Robin squeezes her shoulder.
“Those brothers of yours seem to be the type to let you readjust at your own pace. Just take a moment to breathe.” Aricka smiles at her friends- two girls she’d considered sisters since she met them.
“Thanks guys.” She unlocks her door and climbs out. “Let’s do this.”
*time jump*
“Well- here’s the door shortstop.” Dean turns to her, and Aricka felt her eyes well up with tears. “I know I said it already but- welcome home.”
Aricka smiles and swipes at her face before walking up and gripping the door handle, twisting and pushing it open to reveal-
Home. Just like she’d left it.
The comforting smell of coffee, books, and something she never could quite identify washes over her, and Aricka walks over to the edge of the railing. Closes her eyes. Takes one long, deep breath in. Then opens her eyes.
She was home.
After a permissive glance, she walked over to the railing, climbed on, and slid down, duffle clutched tightly in her hands as she let out a victorious WHOOP-! And laughed, the others following behind her.
Billy walks over to her, takes her bag from her. “You okay?” He asks, those blue eyes searching for any sign that she was struggling. Aricka smiles back at him, stands on her tiptoes to kiss him.
“Honestly?” He nods. “I’ve got my family all together. For the first time in six years. I’ve never been happier.” She’d dreamed of the off chance of her two worlds colliding one day.
She’d never expected it to happen like this. But she was so happy it did.
~~~~~~~
“… and this is my room.” She pauses. “They didn’t take out the “Girl Cave,” sign. Huh.” That made her wonder- did they even touch her bedroom in the years she was gone?
Pushing the door open, she stepped inside so the kids and teens- the ragtag bunch of friends she’d managed to gather together, to turn into a family- could enter her space. “C’mon in guys. I’ve got plenty of space for you to sit, or chill out on. And I’ve got a mini fridge with drinks and a mini pantry of snacks- just help yourself.”
Dori walks over to the mini pantry, manages to find a snack that wasn’t expired after six years. “Aricka.." Dori starts, "I mean this in the nicest way possible. Your room is crazy!"
Aricka grins, and shakes her head. “I can explain each appliance if that helps. I’ve got a television, which I help pay for, a giant light that projects the planets and stars, the mini fridge and pantry are self explanatory…. I’ve got a karaoke machine, my lava lamp…My room at Wayne’s is just a toned down version of this. Eddie can vouch for me.”
Will climbs the ladder to her loft bed, where he found a familiar looking stuffed animal. “Chewie!” He picks up Aricka’s teddy bear. “You have two of them?”
“Yeah. Cas made the other one. He didn’t want me to be lonely.”
Dustin opens up the mini fridge, taking out a can of soda, "Aricka, you're officially the coolest person ever."
Aricka absolutely BEAMED at the kid. “I think you still hold that title. Professor D. Check out my computer. It’s like the ones in Hawkins but smaller, lightweight and portable.”
El picks up a purple cow print blanket. “Soft…” she whispers.
Aricka smiles. “You want it Janie?”
The girl nods eagerly.
“Then it’s yours now.” Jane grinned and wrapped the blanket around her like a cape, humming softly.
"Okay, but your tv is so... flat." Dori says walking up to it, "Are all modern tvs like this?"
“Yeah, it’s a flatscreen. Um- I don’t know how best to explain it. Sammy’s the tech geek of the five of us.”Max was currently sitting in the hammock in the corner of Aricka’s room, observing everything with her earbuds still in.
“Aricka- this photo wall- who are all these people?” Will asks, pointing to the photos along her wall.
Aricka’s expression turns to one of nostalgia. “It’s my family- uh- the rest of my family.”
"The rest of your family?" Dori asked
“Yeah. You guys all know I consider you my family now, right? Well.. these photos- they’re memories. Of people still living. Some who are not. But- everyone on this wall means something to me. This is how I commemorate their legacy.” Then she pulls out a book, containing various Polaroids. “Now, I can add more, and tell you all stories of the family I have here?”
“That's cool." Dustin smiles, looking over the pictures.
“That’s neat that you chose to honor them like that,” Steve commented.
“Thanks Stevie- oh, that’s my mama,” Aricka says, pointing at a picture of a woman in a police uniform. “Sherif Jody Mills. Aka mama Jody. She’s got a house for “wayward daughters.” I spent a few months with her when I was 14- I needed a mom really badly then. That’s when I started calling her that. Her and momma Donna. They both consider me their kid.”
Aricka selects her first picture- one of her and Dori at the arcade from a few months back- and hangs it right beside the one of Jody.
Dori smiles, and Eddie nudges their shoulder.
“… that’s Ellen and Jo.” Aricka is somber for this memory. “They died saving me and Sammy and De. Jo was-,” her lip quivers. “She was like my sister.”
A picture of Aricka and Eddie singing together goes beside them- a brother by a sister.
Dori places their hand on Aricka's shoulder, "I'm sorry."
Aricka shakes her head. Wipes her face. “I was ten. It was a while ago. I’m okay now.”
“Who’s that?” Will asks, pouting to a scruffy looking man.
Aricka’s whole attitude changed as she grinned. “Aw, that’s Garth-! He’s one of my best friends - he’s a werewolf who defeated the tooth fairy.”
Dustin's eyes widen, ".... I don't even know how to process what you just said." he chuckles.
Aricka giggles. “Trust me, you get used to it. Especially in this line of work. Dean and Sam are probably telling Joyce and Jim and uncle Wayne all sorts of stories.”
Aricka hangs a picture of the kids by a picture of a boy wearing a red and white striped shirt with a matching hat. She smiles fondly yet still with some sadness.
“That’s Samandriel. An angel. Um.. Billy knows already but he was my first boyfriend. He died a few months before I came to Hawkins.”
"Oh man... I'm sorry that happened."
“Billy and I helped each other in a lot of ways.” She smiles at the boy, who was looking at her pictures.
“You told me about this girl-said Buckley would like her.”
“Oh yeah, Charlie! Robin you would LOVE Charlie. She’s a total nerd and loves a good montage moment”.
"Sounds like my kind of girl." Robin says, "I'd love to get to know her someday."
“She’s gonna probably kill me when she finds out I’m back… and I haven’t texted her yet.. but in my defense it’s been six years technically since I’ve texted- .”
“Texted? What’s that?” Robin interjects.
“Oh!” Aricka pulls her phone out. “I’ll show you. Remind me we need to get all of you Hawkins natives phones- and phone numbers- and at least one social media app.” She pulls up her messaging app. “So this is Charlie’s contact information. I’m gonna click it, and this thread is our conversation- holy wow. June 19th at 8:45 was my last text to Charlie- lemme just send her a message.”
Aricka’s fingers fly across the phone keyboard as she sends out a message to her sister/friend.
“The prodigal sisters returns-! Missed you Cici.”
"Wow. Pretty convenient way of contacting someone." Dori said.
“Yeah, technology advances pretty quickly once y2k happens. My favorite invention thus far is the air fryer… genius.”
"The WHAT?" Dustin asked.
“It a machine that fries food but doesn’t make it greasy- it’s amazing”.
“Okay, that's the first thing we're gotta try as soon as possible." Max walks over and ducks under Aricka’s arm, wrapping both of hers around her big sister’s waist. “Hey there, it’s my all time favorite red headed teenager.”
Max smiles and leans her head against Aricka. “I’m with Dustin- I’m hungry.”
“Okay, I can make us some air fryer pizza rolls and French fries, how’s that sound?”
"YEAH!" Dustin exclaimed
“Yes please.” El says, followed by various agreements:
“Sounds good.”
“Whatever you make is fine.”
“I’d like it.”
“Heck yeah.”
Dean walks in then. Notices the redhead- Max, or as Aricka called her; MadMax. “Heard you say you’re gonna make food- but aside from that how’s settling in going? We have plenty of space for all of you to have your own rooms.”
“We’re good Dean,” the cheerleader with an edge to her- Chrissy, he reminded himself- says; a smile on her face. “Aricka’s just introducing us to the rest of her family.”
~~~~~~~~~
Dean woke up to a loud scream followed by two different sets of feet thumping down the hallway. He gave the two sets of feet five minutes to reach their destination before he gave pursuit, when he heard voices coming from room 20- the room “Little Red” as he’d nicknamed Max, had claimed.
“Hey, Maxie, it’s me and Aricka- just breathe. We’re going to stay here until you feel better.” That was Billy. Aricka had explained in brief detail the story of these two- and he felt a sort of older brother connection to the kids.
“It’s okay, MadMax, we’re at the bunker. Sammy De and Cassie wouldn’t let anybody who wanted to hurt us past the door. We’re all safe. We all left Hawkins. We’re starting a new life- a new family. All of us. We won’t let anyone get hurt- we’ll keep each other safe. Just go back to sleep.” That was Aricka. Hearing his, Sam and Cas’s names being listed as protectors brought a sad sort of smile to his face.
“I’ll fight off the bad dreams kid. You sleep now.” When the room went quiet after a moment, he poked his head into the room to check on them- and this time the smile on his face wasn’t a sad one; it was a fond one.
Max was in the middle of the bed, dried tears sticking to her red cheeks as she clung to Billy even in her sleep. Aricka had her arms protectively around both siblings- defensive even in sleep. Billy also had both of the girls in his arms, but the blanket had shifted down to their knees in the shuffle to get comfortable, he assumed. So he pulled the blanket back up so they wouldn’t get cold during the night, flicked on the nightlight Aricka had insisted each “kid” and “teen” get- having experiences with her own nightmares- and then quietly left the room.
They could all talk in the morning. If he was gaining new siblings, he wanted to help them any way he could.
Not that he’d ever phrase it that way. But they would know. And that’s all that mattered.

The flying four reunite
(Aricka x Bradley, Aricka and Jake; Aricka and Robbie)
(Special appearances by: Maisie and Sienna Bradshaw; Pete and Penny Mitchell-Benjamin, Natasha Trace.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aricka nods along to the song playing in the radio of the familiar first-gen Ford Bronco, which just happened to be, “Country Girl,” by Luke Bryan. Her currently blonde-highlighted hair was pushed out of her face by the breeze, and one of her hands was held over the gearshift by one Bradley Bradshaw, who, like something out of a Taylor Swift song, had a “one hand feel on the steering wheel.”
This was the first time the pair had been together in six months, having been on separate deployments. They hadn’t even had a chance to see their kids yet, since Aricka’s mom was watching them and they were currently at the Hard Deck, where Aricka and Bradley were heading.
Being back home, being back in the car that Aricka and her now-husband had shared so many memories in, sent a wave of nostalgia through her, and made her curious as to why they were being called back to Top Gun. Bradley had fixed the car since they had been gifted it, and painted it a new color of blue, but it still had the same homey qualities as always, and Aricka was glad to be back in her so claimed passenger princess spot.
They come to a stop, but Aricka remains seated- she would get the mock scolding of her life if she didn’t let her husband open her door for her and help her out of the vehicle like he had for any occasion since their first date their senior year of high school.
Bradley does as expected, and she can’t help but slip her arms around him for another hug, soaking in the warmth of having him back in her arms. “Ready to see everyone?” He asks, seeming to know
Aricka nods. “Ready to see my parents,” she says. It was always difficult, Aricka being such a daddy’s girl, being separated from her dad, being that he was the first person to really want her in his life. Bradley was the second.
The pair walk into the bar, and their eldest, Maisie Nicole, was the first to spot them, her eyes lighting up as she darted over toward them, her twin sister hot on her heels. Maisie jumps into her dad’s arms while Sienna fell into her mom’s embrace, both twins eager to see their parents again for the first time in a long time. “Cici!” Aricka exclaims, holding her baby close. The girl had grown in the last six months; she was almost taller than Aricka by now.
“Mama!” The girl exclaimed back, not caring that she was 13 and technically shouldn’t still be calling her mother that. “You’re back! And early too. Are you all done?”
“No, no, my starshine. Dad and I got called back for a special mission for Top Gun.” Cici must have just noticed that her father was indeed standing there with her mother, because she let out an ear-piercing sound and leapt into his arms next,
“DADDY-!” Maisie folded into her mom’s comfortable and familiar hug, having missed the moments when she could seek her mom out for a quiet hug and a forehead kiss.
“My baby,”‘Aricka whispered. “How’s my little duck doing?”
“I missed you mom, it’s not the same when you’re gone.” Maisie perked up sooner than Sienna did, “Uncle Jake: auntie Nat and uncle Robbie are here already, and Jake brought our new uncle Javy with him!” Aricka grinned at hearing her oldest claim Jake’s wingman so readily. Javy was a great man, one Aricka, Brad and Robbie knew would have their childhood friend’s back on the land, at sea and in the air.
“Uncle Javy didn’t believe uncle Jake could hit the dartboard with his eyes covered and uncle Jake proved him wrong,” Cici said with a familiar, Bradshaw brand smirk. “It was AWESOME!”
“Okay: kids let’s let your parents in the door,” Aricka looks up and grins when she sees her mom standing at the bar; a familiar smile on her face.
“Mom!” It was her turn to greet, walking around the counter to hug her, an exception made only for Penny’s husband, daughters, son-in-law and grandchildren. “Dad not here yet?”
Penny gave her a confused look. “You don’t know?” She shakes her head no. “Of course you don’t- they wouldn’t have told you. Your dad is on his way but he’s- he was in a work related accident.”
Aricka knew her dad was prone to the occasional accident every now and then but for her mom to phrase it like that instantly had her internal worry system running full tilt. “Do we know the details?”
Penny tsks and shakes her head; “Classified government information but if you remember he was working on a super important project.”
Aricka remembers the details vaguely. “That dark star thing, right?” Penny nods. “I hope he’s okay.”
“He’s fine, he’s just ready to hug his kid again.” Aricka whirls around and beams as she sees her dad standing there, and throws her arms around him. Pete Mitchell, callsign “Maverick,” or to Aricka, “MavDad,” or just “dad”, and to his grandkids, “Papa Mav” wraps his oldest kid in a tight hug; and for a moment everything from the last six months faded to oblivion; and Aricka was a little girl behind welcomed home from school. “Hey mini-me,” he says; and she giggled at the familiar nickname.
“Hi dad.” She felt the familiar material of a brace under her dad’s shirt and she gave him a worried look.
“I bruised a few ribs in that accident your mom was telling you about. It’s mostly just bruises and scrapes but I’m fine, kiddo. I promise.” Aricka accepted the explanation for the moment, just relived her dad was still alive and relatively in one piece. “Go see your friends; I know you missed them.” He sends her off with another hug and a kiss to the forehead, and Aricka drifts back over to Bradley’s side.
“I spy with my little eyes a certain WSO and pilot,” she says. Bradley follows her gaze. “How hard do you think it is to sneak up on Robbie now?”
“Just a little bit, but if anyone can do it it’s you, sweetheart,” Bradley says; the vote of confidence making her beam as always. She walks over, trying to be as sneaky as possible; Robbie having not seen her yet, and slides her arms around his waist excitedly as she exclaims,
“Hiya Robbie!” Just like when they were kids. The stealth pilot managed to jump out of his skin at that but when he noticed who it was he quickly returned the hug,
“Aricka Bradshaw you little menace-!” She laughs and hugs him as tightly as possible,
“I’ve missed you-! How’ve you been?! How’s Lemoore?”
“Boring without you guys but I manage,” he says. Bradley walks up at that moment; and that’s when Jake noticed the pair standing there.
“Bradshaws! As I live and breathe,” he exclaimed, and Aricka ran around the pool table to hug her other childhood best friend; who immediately scooped her up and swung her around. “You look stunning as always Aricka.”
“I’ve missed you too Jakey,” she says. Bradley shakes his head; a teasing smile on his face.
“Hangman. You look- good.” Aricka shakes her head. Oh boy. Here we go.
“Oh I am good, Rooster. I’m very good. In fact,” here he ruffles Aricka’s hair: much to her chagrin and complete fondness, as she shoved him playfully, “I’m too good to be true.”
“You didn’t tell me you were stateside,” said one Natasha Trace; and Aricka winces. Oh Bradley. Never anger your real wife or your work wife.
“I wanted to surprise you-!” Bradley protested. Nat goes to take a shot at the pool game, and hits Bradley in the stomach with the pool cue.
“Now I’ve surprised you; too;” she says with a familiar smirk, and Aricka laughs outright at the look of stunned pain on Bradley’s face.
“Good to see you, Nat,” he says, patting her shoulder.
After a little while of catching up and talking about the new mission, Aricka spies her husband wandering over to the jukebox, bending over to unplug it, and she grins as she follows him over to the piano at the end of the bar, letting Bradley tug her down into his lap as he wraps his arms around her to begin playing a few keys, “any requests, m’dear?” He asks, aviators slipping down his nose. She pushes them back up, kissing his forehead for a moment, before saying,
“Play our song Brad.” He grinned, and she knew if his sunglasses were off he’d wink at her before launching into the song that defined not just their relationship, but Bradley’s parent’s relationship.
You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain
Too much love drives a man insane-!” He cues her in with a tip of his head and Aricka joins,
“You broke my will, but what a thrill
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire-!” The two couldn’t contain the smiles on their faces as their friends joined in, singing the song at a loud and proud pace, some of them unable to hide the laughter in their voices,
“I laughed at love 'cause I thought it was funny
You came along and you moved me honey
I've changed my mind, this love is fine
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire-!” Everyone drops out so Bradley could sing direct to Aricka,
“Kiss me, baby, ooh, feels good-!” As she laughs and kisses him again as the song instructs, wrapping her arms around him and singing,
“Hold me, baby
Well, I'll still love you like a lover should-!”
“You're fine-!” Bradley
“So kind-!” Aricka.
Imma tell the world world that you're mine, mine, mine, mine-!”
Maisie and Sienna walk over, the aviators parting so the kids could sing with their parents, and Bradley noticed, saying,
“May-May, Cici, sing with the family-!” And they all sang the third verse,
“I chew my nails and I twiddle my thumbs
I'm getting nervous, but it sure is fun
Come on, baby, you're drivin' me crazy
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire-!” Maisie and Sienna laughing and clapping their hands like they did every time their dad sang this song.
Pete and Penny stood back at the bar, watching the scene with equal looks of pride and nostalgia. “They remind you of anyone?” Penny asks. Pete nods.
“Reminds me of us. Of Nick and Carole. Too bad they’re on that anniversary honeymoon of theirs. They’d have wanted to see this.” The scene before them reminded Pete of another diner; of another piano, where two kids sat on top, the little boy holding the little girl’s hand as they sang the same song they were currently singing, but it wasn’t Bradley playing or singing, it was his father, and Charlie had been there, as well as Aricka’s twin brother Jeremy.
“Kiss me baby
Ooh, that feels good, baby
Hold me, baby-!” Everyone but Aricka stops singing as she looks at Bradley she says,
“I wanna love you like a lover should-!”
“You're fine, you're so kind
I'ma tell the world that you're mine, mine, mine, mine-!” The pair were continuously lost in each other’s orbit, even the music faded for a moment as Aricka and Bradley looked at each other with an unreadable expression to anyone but each other.
“I chew my nails and I twiddle my thumbs
I get nervous, but it sure is fun
Come on, baby, you're driving me crazy
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire-!” The song finishes and Bradley looks at Aricka for another request, but the girl in question merely leans forward to lovingly kiss her husband, resulting in various reactions- hoots; hollers and wolf whistles from everyone present. “Brad Brad, you big stud?” She whispered. Bradley knew what was coming but played along, keeping both arms wrapped around his wife.
“That’s me honey.” She laughs and leans her head against his shoulder, saying,
“Take me to bed or lose me forever.” Bradley pulls her up so her legs are across his on the piano bench, looking her in the eye before replying,
“Show me the way home, honey.” Not that she needed to. Anywhere Aricka Mitchell-Bradshaw was; that was Bradley’s home.
And it always would be.

“I won’t let any of you down.”

Thanks for the gif Dori!!!!
*******Flashback**********
“Ricky; it’s me. It’s Aricka; I’ve been so worried about you. You just disappeared, nobody could find you.”
“Go away,” he said. Aricka crosses her arms and shifts her weight to her left side.
“Ricky, whatever this guy did to you; you know I’ll never judge you for. Please come into the light and let me see you. Make sure you’re okay and not hurt.”
Silence for a moment, and then Ricky steps out into the light just enough for her to see him.
A shocked gasp escaped her and she immediately crosses the room to be at his side. “What- who did this to you?” She touches his face, stares into his eyes. “We will fix this. I promise.”
He stares at her unblinking for a second; then he takes her hand with his right one. “I’ve got some people you’ll want to meet then.”
And then he leads her over to a group of individuals who became her dearest friends after this initial meeting….
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ricky leads her over to a few individuals and says, “I have someone I want to introduce you to. She’s- she can help.”
“Hi, I’m Aricka, I’m Ricky’s friend. It’s so nice to meet all of you. I’m hoping to help you all, if you like. But if not. I’d like to be friends.” Movement to her right caught her eye and she looks over to see-
“It is wonderful that you want to help all of us, Aricka. I am Ortiz the dog boy. I am the leader of the freaks. And this is my lovely girlfriend, Dori." Ortiz was taller than her, and as he said, he was a dog boy, and Dori was a six-armed spider/human mix, but Aricka simply couldn’t be afraid. They couldn’t help their situation any more than she could control the weather.
"Hi," Dori waves, "It's nice to meet you."
“Hi!” Aricka waves. “It’s nice to meet you, Ortiz. You too Dori.” She smiles warmly at both of them, hoping to convey her sincerity in her words. “Thanks for looking out for this one,” she says, gripping Ricky’s hands. “I was so worried about him. The words caused him to blush, but Aricka didn’t notice as she was focused on Dori.
"Ricky was worried about you too," Dori says, "Poor guy thought you wouldn't want to see him after what Skuggs did to him. But I knew that wouldn't matter to someone who really cares about him."
Aricka tsks fondly as she glances at Ricky, “don’t you know by now that I’m your friend because you have a charming personality, not because of your looks? I would never judge you for something like this.”
"Sorry," Ricky sighs, "I know you wouldn't. I just wasn't sure how you'd react to seeing..." he motions his hand over his face, "all this, so I didn't wanna take any chances."
She shakes her head sympathetically, “Well, I think you still look handsome. You just look a bit more phantom of the opera than Baywatch.”
Ricky blushes at Aricka's compliment, "Thanks." he chuckles. He knew she loved Broadway a lot; and he’d been planning on taking her to see a fairly recent up and coming musical- Les Miserables- before all this happened.
Maybe there was still some hope after all.
“If you didn’t notice, I’m holding both your hands. Not just the one.” She was smiling at him the entire time; he had always been nice to her even if he’d been rude or cocky to others. She was of the firm belief that there was a prince of a man in Ricky; he just needed help finding him.
Ricky smiles, looking down at Aricka's hands gently holding his own. He rubs her hands with his thumbs, happy that Aricka wasn't afraid of his new look. He took the time to notice her hands were soft, and warm. And a lot smaller than his.
Ortiz leans over to Dori, "Those two are made for each other." he whispers.
"They sure are."
“Besides..” Aricka says, “I’m a fan of fairy tales, and right now, I’m reminded of my favorite one. And every fairy tale has a happy ending. Why shouldn’t this one?”
"You're right," Ricky says, "We've just gotta figure out how to get to the happy ending, now."
Aricka shrugs. “Well if we’re considering this a fairy tale… how did the curse happen?
Ricky sighs, thinking back to what happened to him, "The evil Elijah C. Skuggs did this to me. He used this slime called zygrot-24 on me and it turned me into this. It's changed everyone here into what they are now." he motions at his fellow freaks.
Aricka felt her heart break with every word spoken. “… if there’s a potion there’s an antidote most likely. I could get started working on something?”
"Please," he smiles. A hopeful glint in his eyes that he and his friends will soon be humans again, "If you can think of anything that could help us, that'd be great!"
“Well, I can’t promise anything, but I will give it 100%, like I always do.” She promised
“I know you won't let me down."
Aricka’s smile falters but it wasn’t noticeable as she nods. “You can count on me, Ricky. I won’t let you down. I won’t let any of you down.”
Ricky places his hand on her shoulder, "If there's anything we can do to help, let us know."
She smiles and puts her hand on top of his and squeezes. “You know I will.”
Or at least, she desperately hoped she would.
