4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

I find inspiration from watching new things, or reading theories or posts and it makes my brain go into overdrive. For example, my latest fic idea was partially inspired by the 'Splitting Heirs' fanfic by @phantoms-lair and @providentially-demonic

7. How do you choose which POV to write from?

It really depends on the scene. I do tend to veer towards Eugene's POV in my Tangled fanfiction because most of my fics revolve around him. But it does also depend on the scene and whether that POV fits. I tend to think about what I want from the scene before I start writing.

10. Cltr+f "blinks" on your WIP & copy paste the first sentence/paragraph that comes up

Blinking, Eugene was slow to respond. “Uh… no problem, Your Majesty. Turnabout is fair play, I guess.”

I'm not going to say which WIP this is XD

12. How does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?

Feedback is important to me. Though I do write for myself, I have always liked to receive feedback as it helps to keep my motivated, especially for very long projects. In my younger years, I did find it difficult to continue writing fics where I did not get much feedback or support but I am a lot more chill about it nowadays. It will always make me smile when a new comment is left.

16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

Too many lol!

Erm, ok, so one, is called: The Lost Prince. This fic follows the premise of Gothel kidnapping Eugene and raising him in the Tower instead. It is a twist of Tangled.

20. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

A common theme that does appear in my fic is whump. Hurt of my favourite characters. And the comfort that follows. Poor Eugene gets too much attention from me.

Or from other fandoms: Tony Stark, Sirius Black, Aragorn, and Obi-Wan Kenobi over the years I've been writing fanfiction.

26. Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

Hmm, I think my wildest ride one would have to be what I am currently writing: Between the Kisses. Though we have a rough guide to what we want to cover, it has evolved and developed and is coming out very different to what we had originally intended when @tangledbea and I first embarked on this mega project. I am enjoying every minute of it!

39. Share a snippet from a WIP

From The Lost Prince AU

The King had nearly lost his wife in childbirth and had - somehow - used the power within the Dark Kingdom to save her. It was rumoured that the newborn Prince had been born with striking cyan hair and eyes which had faded naturally to brown. 

If the baby Prince had somehow absorbed this power perhaps this was how Gothel could bring it to the Sundrop to amplify its power? 

42. What’s the last fic you read? Do you recommend it?

Return to Me by ArcticPersephone. And, YES, I recommend it! It is a rewrite of S3 with one big change and I am honestly astounded by this fic. The character development and the plot always leaves me guessing and I would recommend this fic. It has everything for everyone, no matter who your favourite character is!

43. Do you take a sadistic joy in whumping your characters, or are you more the "If you hurt them I would kill everyone and then myself" kind of person?

Erm. I would probably say yes in that I do take joy in whumping my characters but I enjoy the comfort that comes after as well.

76. Did you have any ideas that didn’t make the final cut of BTK?

That is a rather difficult question to answer. At present there is potentially future scenes that were conceived of at the start of the project that won't make it in as plans have changed. But I can't think of anything specific that hasn't made it into the current chapters posted so far. :)

tell me your favorite fics

AN EXCELLENT QUESTION! Tbh I'm... idk I wouldn't call it picky, but I have a very specific taste in fic 😋😋 while at the same time I'll read basically anything?? I can definitely list out some of my absolute faves though! (Though these aren't all of them of course, we'd be here all day)

I'll continue under a cut to keep it from getting long!

For Gen Fics:

Gotta start with the OG, Darkness Exists to Make the Light Truly Count by aquaquadrant, this was the first TTS fic I read where I went "yeah this FUCKS". Unfinished and probably abandoned, unfortunately, but damn the stuff that's there is so good it makes me feral

Then I love Labrynths of the Heart by izabellwit, which I binge read in one night, staying up until about 5am to finish because holy SHIT it's so good it makes me insane!! It's funny because I didn't actually meet iza until about a year (?) later but damn was I a fan since day one lmaooo

OH and Return to Me by arcticpersephone owns my whole ass rn, it makes me absolutely bonkers every time there's an update!! The characterization of Varian and Rapunzel especially make me INSANE

There's also Chemiluminescence by ScottyFree, which was a bit of a sleeper hit for me, I knew I was going to like it I just didn't anticipate how much it FUCKS--I really enjoy the uncle Hector content lmao

For a platonic soulmate fix (because I am soulmate trash in all ways) I really loved Tell me, is something wrong by AngstingQueen. It's a really great integration of soulmates into the TTS canon and its GOOD FOOD

THEN we've got Frea the Huts O’ Your Tenant Folk by SiryyGray which just. It fucks. It fucks severely. I loved watching the mystery of it expand and adapt and it drove me BONKERS

Also a recent addition, but The Third Amber by Samuri_Jill is REALLY GOOD I love the apple dad content, it really goes into Varian and Quirin’s relationship and I'm kind of obsessed with it

For Varigo Fics

FIRST UP is if i hated you (and i really, really do) by miss battybatzgirl, because holy SHIT. Holy shit. Her interpretation of varigo drives me feral, just batshit bonkers, literally anything by her makes me foam at the mouth

THEN we have one iced grande triple espresso by ashdoesfandom aka THE FUNNIEST MF IVE EVER MET!! Seriously, all of ashs fics have such an amazing sense of humor to them, it makes me weep because I can't handle it lololol

This one might be biased since they gifted it to me, but We’re Just Ships Passing in the Night, But I Want You Forever by Cayenneavocado is GOOD. IT FUCKS. It's that perfect blend of drama and lighthearted shenanigans that does me in, every time I stg

Then I'd recommend You Say Jump by bean_reads_fanfic! I loved ella enchanted as a kid, so seeing how that concept plays out in the TTS universe was SO FUN! (Also I know this is you but honestly its a good fic so shhhh)

Also!! Varian Stone and the Vanishing Bandit by Hybrix_Hijinx owned my entire ass while it was posting, I've never listened to Juno Stone so it was totally fresh to me and I LOVED IT

(Like the moon) I'll sway the tide and lead you astray by chamiryokuroi and ThatOneGirlBehindYou is FANTASTIC if you're willing to be a bit of a multishipper and stray from varigo 😂 in my defense it pre-dates varigo by quite a bit, and it's *so fucking good* not enough people have read this and it's a damn shame

Fic Recommendations: Tangled

Looking for an excellent fic to read? I have a list of my go-to fics for Tangled. I’ve been meaning to do this list for a while but it took me a while to get it all together. This list is in no particular order as I simply cannot pick a number 1 favourite but each author/story on this list deserves to be here because of how fantastic they are. 

So, without further ado... 

@youreputtingrootsinmydreamland KILLING ME SLOWLY is epic. It has such fantastic world-building, characters, plot... Angst, hurt/comfort, romance, action... It has everything I look for in a fic. And a villain you just want to hate. Not only has @youreputtingrootsinmydreamland written KMS, they have also authored other fics which I adore. Most notably the ‘Until We Freeze’ series, a series of one-shots exploring New Dreams physical and emotional intimacy and wow, can she write such brilliant M/E rated scenes. @kingreywrites Anything Kingrey writes. Eugene hurt/angst/comfort... you name it! I can’t name a single fic that I prefer over another. I recently re-read them all and I do not regret going back and spending my afternoon reading them. I love their characterisation, the drama, the angst, the hurt, the comfort... EVERYTHING. @miranova23 They write very long chapters but they are worth the wait. So far, I’ve read two stories. Broken Dreams and Prison is a Marriage. I also intend to read Suitors of Rapunzel once the fic is completed but I can honestly say, again, the length of chapters, the characters, the situations are all written so far. Compelling dialogue, well-written scenes, the characters are spot on... @ladyfawkes She writes fics that shine but do not get much attention. This is a shame because this author has a lot of talent which should be shared. They’ve written a range of different Tangled stories, all in various stages of being written. There is a story set after Tangled detailing Rapunzel’s journey home; there is a fic about Eugene’s problems with snow; there is a post-series fic where Corona is at war with Equis and Rapunzel is Queen and has to face the prospect of losing Eugene... Desiderium is perhaps my favourite fic from this author. Originally begun by another author @trekkiehood and now passed onto @ladyfawkes this fic has everything. @ladyfawkes knows how to write, knows how to write angst and also tries to realistic show for what may be possible for the time period. The next two fic recs are by authors who I do not believe have a tumblr but they deserve recognition because these two fics are soooooooo brilliant! 

First up is Return To Me by ArcticPersephone. It is a rewrite of S3 but with one key difference: what if Varian was not placed in the same cell as Andrew? The Saporian take-over never happened, Frederic and Arianna never lost their memories... And it is the Red Rocks event which enables Varian to escape from prison. What follows is a rollercoaster of a ride. Varian has a key role but there is a lot of focus on other characters such as Rapunzel, Eugene and Cassandra. The whole dynamic of Season 3 has changed by the one change the author made. Character development is astounding, compelling OCs, great plot, pacing... Plus, hurt/comfort for all out favourite characters, romance for New Dream, angst, adventure... It has got it all. Even if you are not fond of Varian, I would definitely give this fic a try: I am so glad I did as I eagerly await updates every two weeks. https://archiveofourown.org/works/29860089/chapters/73476042

Second and finally, is a fic called Splitting Heirs by Eternal_Phanton and Providentially_Demonic. I was hesitant to give this fic a try at first. I had been looking for a really good fic set post series, set in the early years after Rapunzel and Eugene married. And, I decided to give this fic a try. It really surprised me. It is, I would say, Cassandra centric, but Eugene and Rapunzel are both stars in this and have equal opportunities to shine. Characterisation is fantastic, the plot is WOW, and the chapters are long. The concept of the story is what if Gothel stole another child? It’s revealed very early on that Cass is the twin sister of Eugene. This was an idea I wasn’t sure of in this fic but my goodness, the authors make it work. Cass is older than she thinks she is and it begins with her and Eugene coming to terms with the fact that they are related and were forced apart by Gothel. There are so many elements to this story that I cannot say much more for fear of spoiling further. This fic updates roughly once a month but the chapters are long and it is well worth the wait.
