Ara beloved okay I would say I love the duality of just how TRAGIC he is mixed with how he has such a loving family, about how he has nightmares almost nightly about killing his daughter (a Jedi youngling he rescued during o66) bc of his damaged chip and how his husband comforts him every night, about how nearly 10 years after o66 and he finally gets his chip removed and is finally able to tell his daughter everything and apologize to her, preparing himself for her to be furious with him, but she's not, she's so grateful to have such an amazing dad

Taa'kal Kadva-- one of the covert's most fierce and skilled warrior's, the six foot one walking wall of muscle, future Alor of the covert-- was in love.

Kal had been courting Ara for a few months now. He wanted to take things slow with Ara-- to truly get to know him, to see him through new eyes-- but he couldn't.

Because after everything that happened. Because of Ara's selfless act of devotion to the covert. Because now that Kal actually knows him--

He knows that he loves Ara. He knows he wants to ask him to be his riduur.

Kal had just gotten done with his weekly Alor training with Cabuor-- and with, quite literally, asking for their permission. It's not necessarily something he needed to do, but wanted to regardless. He owed that much to Cabuor, at the very least.

Kal knew Ara would be dropping Aayla off at the coverts creche-school for the afternoon around this time. He showed up just in time to see Ara kneeling down to give Aayla a hug and a gentle bonk of their forehead's and--

Oh. Kal thinks. Yeah, without a doubt. I'm in love with him.

"Hey, cyare." He gets Ara's attention as he stands back up-- and waves at little Aayla before she heads into the creche. "Can we--" don't just ask him to spar, actually tell him! "Can we talk? In your room, if we could?"

He can immediately see that Ara tensed up. He's nervous, and it's making Kal feel horrible, but he wants to do this in private.

"Uh-- yeah. Yeah, sure." They chat a little bit on the short walk. Ara tells Kal how Aayla is doing in school, that his ribs are healing well.

They get to Ara's room and close the door. "So," Ara crosses his arms over his chest-- he's nervous-- "what you wanna talk about?"

"I--" Kal sighs, mentally running his hands down his face. "I don't have perfect words. I'm not the kind of person who-- who knows how to sound all poetic and kriff."

Ara laughs a bit at that. "No lie there."

"Yeah." It's Kal's turn to be nervous. "So… so all I know to tell you is that my heart belongs to you." He reaches his hand out to gently cup the cheek of Ara's helmet. "I don't know if you want me-- entirely like that. But I'm yours. And at this point? However you need me, I'll be here."

"... Oh." Ara let's out an elated sigh. "Oh."

"And if-- if you do feel that way about me? I would be honored to have you as my riduur."

"To… to marry you?"

"Yes." Kal states. "To marry me."

"I…" Ara mirrors Kal, cupping the cheek of his helmet. "Yes. Yes I feel the same way about you. Yes I want to marry you."

"Yes?"

Ara slowly guides Kal's helmet down, tenderly pressing their forehead's together.

"Yes."

Tw for nightmares and slight allusion of Ara killing Aayla

Ara is back in the Jedi temple.

An eerie darkness hangs in the air as he wanders the empty halls, his blaster pointed and ready.

He's in his Corrie armor, but it feels… wrong. It feels too tight. His bucket feels like it's suffocating him.

He's looking for something. Or someone? He can't quite figure it out.

Ara doesn't know how long he walked around, but suddenly he's in a room. He doesn't remember going into the room.

He looks around. It looks familiar, it feels familiar. But the feeling is too far away to place.

Until he hears it.

"Bubu?" It's Aayla. Little two year old Aayla, looking up at Ara with those big, curious eyes.

Execute Order 66.

The order isn't coming from his wrist comm, it's coming from inside his head. It's all around him.

"... No." He points his blaster at her, hands shaking violently.

Execute Order 66!

"No!"

This time, there's nothing to stop him.

"NO!"

Ara screams and bolts straight up, trembling as tears stream down his face.

"Cyare," Kal softly whispers, "it's okay, it was just a nightmare." He starts to gently rub Ara's shoulder.

He's safe in the covert. It was just another nightmare. Everything is okay.

But he still feels so raw.

"Do you want to--" hearing his husband talk usually helps Ara come back to reality after a nightmare, but right now it's just making him feel on edge.

"Don't--" he chokes out a sob, "don't say anything, please just-- just hold me, please."

Kal slowly wraps his arms around Ara, pulling him back down to their bed.

His hand is still rubbing Ara's shoulder, and the other comes up to gently card through his hair.

Ara presses his face into Kal's chest, as uncontrollable sobs tear through him. He shakes, and he cries. And through all of it, Kal gently holds him.

It takes awhile for the tears to stop flowing, for his breathing to even out. Kal is still holding him, still not saying anything, still rubbing his shoulder.

"... I'm sorry." Ara mumbles. He always feels so washed out after crying.

"You have nothing to apologize for, ner cyare." Kal moves them so that they're facing each other. He takes his hand off of Ara's shoulder, tenderly cupping the side of his face as he presses their foreheads together. "You don't have to apologize for something that's out of your control." He whispers.

"I'm-- I'm sorry for… for snapping at you. I don't know what…"

"Ara," Kal huffs lightheartedly, "I wouldn't make a very good Mando'ad if I couldn't handle being snapped at. Which you didn't, by the way."

Ara laughs softly, moving to nuzzle his face into the crook of his husband's neck. "If you say so."

"I do say so." Kal starts rubbing Ara's back. "Want me to get you a cool rag?"

"No I'm--" Ara yawns, "I'm too tired. Just wanna go back to sleep…"

"Okay." Kal pulls the already half asleep Ara closer against him.

"Udesiir, ner cyare. Udesiir."

Oooh yes it's one I'm really excited about working on, it's about how Kal (the husband of my Mando clone oc) finds their daughter! It's based off that Russian cat who saved a baby! Basically he's out on a supply run, sees a Tooka running back and forth from an alley just screaming her head off at people, Kal checks it out and HEY that's a BABY in a crate and it's COLD outside, and he literally drops everything he's holding picks baby up and books it back to the covert, and of course he and Ara adopt baby and Tooka

4. Is your oc good at keeping secrets? They're usually fairly good with keeping secrets, especially if it has to do with work (bounty hunting) but less so in their personal life

7. What song reminds you of this oc? Does this match up with the type of music your oc likes to listen to? Probably "I've No More ... To Give" by Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq and I guess so? They listen to mostly pop and folk music

21. What’s a fact you haven’t shared about this oc? I'm torn between saying they end up having a few kids or that they convince Boba to let them adopt a Tooka (to catch mice, of course!)

🍽 - A special treat of their choice; first being a Corrie then moving around with the Covert a lot, Ara doesn't really get the chance to have treats very often, especially now that most of the treats he gets goes to his daughter Aayla (bc he's a good dad!) I feel like a "treat" for him would actually be fresh veggies or meat (both hard to come across in the covert)

🤗 - A warm hug; okay but all I can think of is right after Cabuor adopts him this poor man is crying as Cabuor hugs him

☺️ - Soft words of reassurance; I feel like Boba would be better at giving words of reassurance to Jaig. But Jaig is (pretty) good at giving words of reassurance to anyone (they've had a lot of practice talking to and calming down Nerfs)

✋ - A hand carding gently through their hair; okay okay so Jaig has long hair. Like stupidly long hair. They keep in braided and weapp up/tapped close to their head so they can put their helmet on. So after Jaig marries Boba and Din (which they're already emotional at) the both of them work on taking their hair down, and when they're able to run their hands through Jaig's hair? Oh they absolutely melt

Oooh okay yes! I'm putting it under the cut bc it got a lil long oof (these are some of my Mando ocs btw)

Ara- Ara's first daughter is a Twi'lek, and after he joins his Mandalorian covert (deep underground on Coruscant) he quickly learns to make lekku sleeves and how to tie them on bc she's small (two years old) and it's cold in the covert and her little lekku get cold easily

Kal- Kal is Iridonian, he was adopted into the covert at a young age, but he still remembers how to speak Zabraki and he often speaks it to his husband (Ara) and their daughters and he sometimes speaks it in his sleep

Cabuor- listen Cabuor is a nonbinary ICON and they knew from a young age but it wasn't really embraced in their Pantoran family. After they were adopted by their covert they were all "oh fuck yeah kid, gender is fake" they change their name after they become Alor bc protecting the people who took them in is their most important objective now

Ranah- idk the actual tradition, but I hc that with Mirialan's it's the parents (or another close family member) who gives their children their tattoos. Ranah is an only child, and her mother spends weeks pouring as much love and detail as she can into Ranah's tattoos on her face, hands, and feet (in return her and Cabuor both do the same with their children)

Jaig- right after they were born (16 BBY) a clone (don't have a name for him yet) accidentally wandered on to their mother's farm on Vorpa'ya, she held her beskad up to his throat and threaten his life and oh, he fell in love instantly. He ended up becoming a farm hand bc it's difficult to run a farm with a newborn and two other kids to care for. He stayed with them for four years, and accidentally became Jaig's father figure bc they didn't see their real dad often. Jaig's mother's wasn't with their father, but he still supported her financially. Untill he died, and Jaig's grandmother demanded that the clone move out so she could move in and help raise and support the kids (she was a traditional Mando who didn't show her face to anyone who wasn't family) and Jaig didn't see him again until they were 25. It's after they married Boba and Din and are expecting their first kid. Jaig sees him at a market (I'm thinking he has a distinctive facial tattoo) he's old, but he never forgot about them. He was just passing through, but he decides to stay on Tatooine to meet Jaig's daughter

1. Who are they closest to? How did they meet and what do they like to do together? That depends on a lot, and at what point in his life. It could easily be Aayla (his daughter), Cabuor (the Mandalorian who adopted him and swore him in as a fellow Mando), or Kal (his husband 💞).

When Aayla was still a toddler Ara tried his best to do the things with her that toddlers needed; reading to her teaching her, playing with her. As she got older, Ara (and the rest of the fam) started training her in fighting and sparring.

When Ara first joined the covert he was kinda like a lost puppy, not really knowing what to do so he followed Cabuor around a lot. He eventually started cleaning and repairing weapons with them. After they adopted him, Ara often asks Cabuor to braid his hair to keep it up and secure under his helmet, bc no one can braid his hair quite like his buir can 😭

Okay Kal is tricky bc when Ara first joined the covert he did Not™ like him. It's only after Ara almost dies saving the covert that he starts to warm up to him. I haven't really worked out how their feelings develop but after they get married Kal is a super love bug. Loves cuddling, loves holding Ara as they talk, and Ara loves it too!

Also he met all of them on the same day; saved Aayla during o66, accidentally walked into the covert and right into Kal's blaster, and was pseudo adopted on the spot by Cabuor

13. What special abilities or talents do they possess? Did they develop through training or were they born with them? Ara is fairly quick on his feet, but also has a very sharp mind too and can often outwit others. Also they've been STUPIDLY lucky just from the start tbh

15. Are they the type to adopt strays (animals or people?) What or who have they “adopted” over the years? Absolutely, clones are Mando's at heart and that adoption gene is STRONG. He's adopted his daughter, and he and his husband adopt another daughter (who might be Dinau or Di'nau idk yet) and a Tooka together! Probably some other kids too, idk yet

"Wait!" He grabs Cabuor's arm. This could ruin all the trust I've built with them-- but I can't let them kill my brother's. "Wait-- don't hurt them! Put your blaster's on stun!" Ara doesn't have to see their face to know Cabuor is staring daggers at him. "They're my brother's-- my vode." He pleads. "Please. I can't watch my brother's die."

Bc honestly Kal had NO intention of falling for Ara in any way, but his heart had other ideas 😌 also I just love the idea of like, Kal having NO idea how to deal with his feelings/flirt in general so he flirts by sparring with Ara and making vague threats at him afjfkahjldf

AHLFSHL okay so fear not there's no death in it!!! Just Ara's willingness to die for his daughter and the covert that took him in (there is some serious injury tho, like broken ribs and collapsed lungs and concussions, u know all that fun stuff) but basically Ara throws himself and his (ex) squad off of a ledge on Coruscant, and I still gotta look up how high u can fall from and just be severely injured instead of dead (also after everything Ara gets adopted and officially becomes a part of the covert!)
