M.A.D. MAIL ART DAY 16 OTTOBRE by Ruggero Maggi
Az Utsanga.it egyrészt on-line magazin, másrészt a kísérleti költészet olaszországi műhelye, illetve archívuma.

New Look Sabres: GM 51 - CHI - Cruel Comedy
What the fuck! I hope you saw the explicit tag before you clicked on this one because this is not going to be safe for all readers. My Sabres fandom starts somewhere around 2011 so I am intimately acquainted with shitty hockey. There is a time and place for shitty hockey. When you’re tanking for example: that is the time for shitty hockey. If you’re in subtle protest of Dan Blysma: that’s the time for shitty hockey. If you’re on a mad winning streak and tearing up the league I guess you’re kind of entitled to lay an egg of shitty hockey in one game. None of those scenarios I just described are currently occurring with this team unless there is a locker room plot I missed against Phil Housley. Hell, there is an open rebellion amongst fans against Phil and at this point is that not justified? The point is this shit is completely uncalled for! Did Drake Caggiula insult everyone’s wives and girlfriends? The only answers the Sabres had at the end of the 1st period and for most of the 2nd period was fight. Not the symbolic sense of the word where their play improves as they try to fight back into the game; no the old time hockey garbage where they make a statement with their fists! Andrew Peters would be proud you fucking disappointment wagon! You know what: every stat, advanced and otherwise, would point you to the Sabres being ready to fuck this Hawks team sideways. Hawks goals allowed, Hawks goal for, second and third period goals, defensive play, shots, and scoring chances: every fucking category! I don’t even know where to start with this shit!
For real this time: Fire Phil Housley. Several games back against Tampa Bay I said this club has probably given us the outline, the criteria if you will, to Fire Housley. I waited so long to jump on this ugly self-hating bandwagon but here I am on this bad fucking bandwagon. If he gets fired that will be five Sabres coaches in six years. I’m sure that doesn’t matter to Jason Botterill but holy hell it should matter to us at some point. Fuck it: he’s insane. I don’t need to even talk about Lawrence Pilut: he got into this game even if it’s with City punching bag Marco Scandella. It’s all the shit Housley doesn’t do: like make big changes when the Sabres need consistency or making no changes when the Sabres need them. Its ten minutes into the second and the Sabres are down 3-0 on the back of three fucking snipes from the two old dudes and Caggiula’s first. What does Housley do? Not a damn thing. Starting Hutton in the first place probably wasn’t wise but fuck, dude: when you’re getting your shit pushed in by the Chicago Blackhawks, not the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks, the 2019 CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS, then you’re doing something wrong. Not only am I not sure Housley put his best roster forward for this game, I’m not sure he had any motivational or tactical moves in mind to fire up the comeback machine once the sky started falling. It’s the beginning of a seven game home stand, your club needs points in the standings and Patrick Kane is back in town and you’re allowing this shit!? This game made me stare into the fucking abyss with this team!
You want a play by play? Huh, shit. The first period sounded like the Sabres we’re playing their game against what is objectively a weak Blackhawks team. They got more shots all period and even got two opportunities on the powerplay. Then Drake Caggiula scored. I’ve already mentioned this poor kid’s name three times this blog but his first career goal is a turning point. It was so massive it put fucking laxatives in all the Sabres water bottles because they came out in the second to SHIT ALL OVER THE ICE! Here’s the thing: the Sabres somehow outshoot the Hawks this second period as well but they could not be worse at advancing the puck. All their passes were intercepted and all their turnovers turned into D-zone time. They must have been turned on from when the Stars pushed them around in Dallas because they got pushed around by the fourth worst team in the league last night! Kane, Keith and later Saad to make sure we’re sad! Remember when Brendan Saad’s name was a stupid meme in 2014? That meme rose from the dead to end the second. All the Blackhawks jerseys in the crowd only made it worse. Who are Buffalo Blackhawks fans? The answer is Patrick Kane’s family and his teenage drinking buddies. I have a feeling all those Hawks jerseys couldn’t have been one of those two groups all though Buffalonians do tell me he was always a prolific drinker. Jack Eichel did score a Rasmus Ristolainen shot deflection to provide a little ray of hope but that was promptly expunged. Oh, I don’t even want to put up with you punks wanting a trade for Kane. The whole second period was just a list of grievances about this team!
The Sabres won in Columbus and they were in it for 85% of the game in Dallas. They have been bad for weeks and months now but they were looking better out of the bye-week. That false flag just shit in all our mouths! I was celebrating an anniversary with my wife so the two of us watched a comedy during this third period. I’ll tell you if I wasn’t so emotionally involved I would say this third period is quite funny! Jason Pominville maneuvers right in front of that demon goalie Cam Ward 3:30 into the third and puts one over him. This goal demonstrated how fucking soft the Hawks defense was this game letting Pommer in there to score one-on-one with Ward. Oh boy is the comeback machine firing up again!? Next it’s Kyle Okposo who gets credit for a puck passing Ward in a net crashing play where everyone was just pounding their sticks like they were begging the God of Irony to not let this game end in a stinker. Kyle Okposo who was punished with the fourth line but what’s that Coach Housley: You’re going to put a veteran first and try and change the game by putting Okposo on the second line? Well look at that, you got the Sabres within one. You put Linus Ullmark in net? Wow maybe you don’t need the Veterans but I’m not giving you credit for that one because you started Hutton to begin with. You ready: it’s time to stare into the abyss with me. Connor Murphy wrist shot equals goal. Patrick Kane with an empty netter to surpass 900 NHL points and become one of the fucking top seven Americans in points! And then Brendan Saad with an empty netter because irony lives in a mansion down on Delaware avenue and he loves going to Buffalo Sports events! Game over: YOU STINK!
To Housley’s credit apparently he tore into them afterward. Remi Elie going on waivers today could be Jason Botterill beginning to make some moves to fix this mess. In the meantime I’ve mentioned this abyss we stared into with this game a couple times. Let’s shine a light into this abyss to see what it holds: for one the Sabres being one of the worst teams in the league in terms of points gathered and record since the win streak steers us into this abyss. It holds the misery of at one point being first in the NHL and then missing the playoffs in March. It’s another offseason starting in April where we get engrossed in the Draft and wonder what offseason moves happen and how they affect the team next season. It’s another fucking season with no playoffs. I was in High School last time they made it and I wasn’t even really into sports then! Oh my God, it’s talking about an 84 point finish as an improvement when we finished LAST a season ago! THIS SHIT IS CYCLICAL! IT’S LIKE WE’RE NOT ALLOWED ANY FUN! Is it because the Bills went to the Superbowl four straight times and lost? I’d sell that fucking team to Nazem Kadri himself if it gets the SABRES ONE FUCKING PLAYOFF BERTH! Here we are losing to the Blackhawks! We all knew 1st place in November was a fluke but this: THIS IS JUST CRUEL! Holy shit I need to relax! I have to prepare to host a Superbowl party and watch the most hated man in Football win another Superbowl this weekend. There is just no rest! I cannot believe this whole fucking mess!
Drop a like. Each like goes toward maintaining my sanity like all those thumbs up on Facebook go toward bringing clean water to sub-Saharan Africa. Comment if you’re wondering what my solution to this mess is. I was going to include some replacements for Housley and some tactical ideas but I didn’t have the patience with this team if they can’t even win games that are laid out on a silver platter for them to win. Share this blog: I was party inspired to do this based on Steve Dangle’s Leafs Fan reaction. The early years of that were enjoyable for me as a Sabres fan because the Leafs sucked ass. It was pretty masochist in retrospect but if you’re the Leafs fan in the opposite position reading my shit in a masochistic way I really want to learn your story. Hell, just share this blog if you think we can commiserate together. Enjoy your Superbowl weekend and get ready for either further depression on Tuesday or more hope that the worst may not be happening. At this point either outcome would be an uproarious comedy.
Thanks for reading.
P.S. The Florida Panthers are totally going for Artemi Panarin and Sergei Bobrovsky. Perhaps next season we’ll have the matchups we expected to have with them this season.

Ho pubblicato diversi libri in poesia e poesia visiva, ed esposto i miei lavori in Italia e all’estero. Read the full article

After Tuesday night’s game ended on a poor note for the Blackhawks in Boston, they were able to bounce back with a victory on home ice in tonight’s game against the New Jersey Devils.
Before the game, the team honored Chris Kunitz (who played in his 1,000th NHL career game) with a pregame ceremony. It’s always very nice how the Blackhawks organization honors their players when they reach a big milestone.
The first period wasn’t the best start for the Hawks as Damon Severson & Travis Zajac gave the Devils a two-goal lead, but with a minute left in the period, Patrick Kane cut the Devils’ lead in half by scoring his 34th goal of the season with assists by Dylan Sikura and Artem Anisimov.
In the second period, things got better for the Blackhawks as Drake Caggiula tied up the game just 20 seconds into the period with assists by Kane (with his second point of the night) and Duncan Keith.
With 6 minutes left in the period, Jonathan Toews broke the tie and made it a 3-2 game with assists by Slater Koekkoek (with his first point of the season and as a Blackhawk) and Kane (with his 3rd point of the night), who has now surpassed Stan Mikita’s 1967 Blackhawks record for the most consecutive games with an assist.
The Blackhawks continued to maintain a three-goal lead throughout the rest of the period. Artem Anisimov extended it a four-goal lead with assists by Brandon Saad (with his 300th NHL career point) and Erik Gustafsson (with his 25th assist of the season).
With four minutes left in the third period, Brandon Saad scored a short-handed goal to make it a 5-2 game and the Blackhawks were able to defeat the Devils, ending their season series against each other on a good note.
I would say that Cam Ward had a very strong performance in tonight’s game as he made 41 saves and did a great job of keeping the Devils off the scoreboard after the first period.
Patrick Kane also played very well in tonight’s game as he extended his point streak to now 16 games which is just absolutely amazing. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kane was considered a nominee for the Hart Trophy because (in my opinion), he definitely deserves it with the way that he’s been playing so far this season.
I have to say that tonight’s game was quite a turnaround for the Blackhawks after what happened on Tuesday night. I guess they’re starting to understand that if they want to make it to the playoffs this year, they really have to be on their “A” game because every game from now until April is important for them, and slipping back into old habits could prove very risky for them if they’re not careful.
The Blackhawks’ next home game will take place on Saturday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. I hope that they’re able to build off from the win of their last game and find a way to keep themselves on track.
Until then, go Blackhawks!

Ramblings: Jackets Clinch, Shutting It Down Early (Apr 6)
The all-in Columbus Blue Jackets are officially in as the final team to clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Jackets were able to get it done with a 3-2 shootout win over the Rangers on Friday, which officially eliminates the Montreal Canadiens from playoff contention.
It wasn’t easy, as Pavel Buchnevich scored his 21st of the season for the Rangers with just seven seconds in regulation to tie it for the Rangers. Chris Kreider also scored his 28th of the season to open the scoring for the Rangers in the second period.
Mika Zibanejad recorded two assists for the Rangers, extending his team-leading point total to 74 points in 81 games. His total this season is a new career high by over 20 points, a similar margin to his lead in team scoring. He’s on my short list of my top waiver-wire pickups for my personal fantasy teams.
Ryan Dzingel and Artemi Panarin scored in the third period to give the Jackets the lead. Was Panarin showcasing for the Rangers with this goal?
ARTEMI PANARIN DANGLES THROUGH THE DEFENSE AND TALLIES A GORGEOUS GOAL!#CBJ pic.twitter.com/if4WwNU8mF

David Savard recorded two helpers for the Blue Jackets, which gives him seven points over his last 11 games. His overall point total won’t make him that appealing, but he has been just fine in the “what have you done for me lately” category. Four blocked shots on Friday too, if that matters to you.
In the end, the 2019 playoffs weren’t meant to be for the Canadiens. But when you consider that the Habs were being mentioned in the same breath as the Ottawa Senators before the season, they have at least exceeded expectations by competing for a playoff spot all the way up to Game 81. Narrowly missing the playoffs will sting, but the season still has to be considered a positive one, even for a franchise that once measured its season’s success by whether it had won La Coupe Stanley. Hopefully they can still put on a good show against the Leafs tomorrow for what will be Bob Cole’s final game.

The interactive playoff draft list is ready for download now! Don’t wait until five minutes before your draft or deadline to purchase it. If you haven’t already preordered it, get yours today! If you have already purchased it, jump right in. It’s available in the Downloads section on the Dobber website (login required for the site, not the forum).
Once you purchase the draft list, please take a moment to get familiar with it before your draft. Read the Instructions tab before you begin using it. The Excel spreadsheet file is interactive (macro-enabled) and not just a “list.” The point total projections depend on which teams you set to advance, or you could go with Dobber’s picks if you’re really not sure. I’m not trying to make it sound super complicated or anything, but it’s better to be prepared. Hey, we just want you to win your league!
Also, please make sure you try logging in, so that you have enough time to reset your password if needed!
*
In a game with fewer playoff implications (although not none), the Dallas Stars could not clinch the first wild card spot, falling to Chicago by a score of 6-1. The Stars are still one point ahead of Colorado, with both teams playing their final game tomorrow.
Patrick Kane didn’t bail on fantasy teams still competing for all the marbles, scoring two goals with a plus-3 and nine shots on goal. With scoring up, Kane has benefitted with a career year of 109 points (44g-65a) with one more game to go. Whether that is a factor, Kane has simply been able to shoot the puck more, taking a career-high 339 shots, a number that is only exceeded by that of Nathan MacKinnon.
Jonathan Toews recorded a pair of assists, which extends his career-high point total to 81 points. Yes, we are saying that about Jonathan Toews, who will turn 31 later this month and was in recent seasons trending toward ordinary numbers. He appears to have benefitted even more than Kane with the scoring increase. Being deployed with talented scorers such as Kane and Alex DeBrincat at various points has helped Toews become a desirable fantasy commodity again.
Drake Caggiula assisted on both of Kane’s goals. He’s up to 11 points in 25 games with the Blackhawks, which equals his point total with the Oilers this season in four more games. His fantasy value appears to have improved with the Hawks, although not to the point where you’d should add him in anything more than the deepest of leagues. That’s even with him playing on the Kane/Toews line, although that line combination certainly makes the idea of adding him tempting. He’s entering his fourth NHL season next season, so perhaps a full season in Chicago with those linemates can result in some sort of breakout.
Corey Crawford left Friday’s game in the second period with a groin injury. He’s out for Saturday, as the Hawks have recalled Kevin Lankinen. As per usual, don’t forget to check Goalie Post for the latest starting goalie updates. And with it being the last day of the season, a higher-than-normal number of starting goalies will probably be given a rest.
Anton Khudobin has been solid for fantasy teams recently, but not on Friday night. Khudobin allowed six goals on 32 shots in the loss for the Stars.
It wasn’t Miro Heiskanen’s night either, as the rookie defenseman was tagged with a minus-5 to go with being held without a point.

The final game of Friday only had draft lottery implications, as the Ducks took it to their crosstown rivals with a 5-2 win over the Kings. John Gibson stopped 44 of 46 shots to earn the win, which gives him wins in four consecutive games and eight of his last nine games to close out the season. The Ducks overall have finished the season on a high note, but they’ll in tough to make the playoffs next season as a team in transition with a new coach (Dallas Eakins?)
The Ducks are the only team not to play tomorrow, so you’re already able to see their season stats. Just in case you want to get a head start on next season.

I made a very last-minute addition of Sam Steel, and he came through with one of the Ducks’ goals. The late-season callup ended the season on a high note, posting eight points (5g-3a) over his last seven games. Expect the former WHL scoring star to be on the Ducks’ roster on a full-time basis next season, as he had already posted solid numbers in the AHL (39 points in 50 games).
You may have been disappointed in Jakob Silfverberg this season. However, with his goal on Friday, he has set a career high in goals with 24. He still hasn’t reached 50 points in his career, and it may not happen next season with the Ducks’ scoring attack mainly either on the back nine (Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf) or just getting started (Steel, Troy Terry, Max Jones).
Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown, and Drew Doughty were all a minus-3 in this game. Bet they can't wait for this season to end.

Potential waiver-wire pickups for tomorrow: Everyone. If they’re playing, they can contribute something, and you’re not attached to them beyond Saturday. The only exception might be if you’re trying to protect a lead in a non-count stat such as goals-against average, save percentage, or plus-minus. If not, you might need some reinforcements, as teams whose playoff seedings are already known may rest star players for the more important playoff matches coming up.
With a few teams resting their star players for the playoffs, should the fantasy hockey season end a week early?

This practice has been taking place for years in the NFL and the NBA, so we shouldn’t be that surprised that it has now become a thing in the NHL. The Flames have rested Mark Giordano for the past two games and other regulars for the past game, while the Bruins rested now 100-point scorer Brad Marchand on Thursday. I’d expect these players and more to be rested again on Saturday, since these teams have nothing left to play for in the regular season.
Since the NHL is a copycat league, expect this practice to become even more widespread, perhaps even with teams implementing “load management” strategies (to borrow a term from the Toronto Raptors and Kawhi Leonard). Load management would affect teams beyond just the final week of the season, yet, this is the time in which teams rest players with the highest frequency. Therefore, I might have to agree with the majority here and at least bring up the idea of shutting the fantasy season down with a week to go in at least a couple of my leagues. Quality over quantity.
