Introducing The Budapest Gorilla Troop by SloggerVlogger Today starts a new series and I'm back to the Budapest Gorilla troop for some up-to-date footage. This is a quick video, an introduction as I wanted to update my previous introduction. Also, I've done a #shorts video of the gorilla family. The group consists of five gorillas. Silverback Golo was born at the Zoologisch-botanischer Garten Wilhelma, near Stuttgard Germany. He was born on the 27th of September 1980 and stayed until the 7th of April 1981 when he moved to Zoo Zürich. He's been at the Budapest Zoo since the 2nd of May 1989. He has four offspring, but only his daughter Indigo is still with him. Female Gorilla Liesel was born on the 15th of April 1977 making it the oldest gorilla in the troop. She was born in Zoo Frankfurt and stayed there until her move to Budapest on the 20th of April 1989. Her offspring are Dango, Gorka and Ebobo. Female Gorilla Iringa also from Germany was born at the Münchener Tierpark Hellabrunn on the 31st of January 1998. From there she was moved to Zoologisch-botanischer Garten Wilhelma on the 3rd of April 2002. On the 3rd of April 2002, she was moved to Zoo de la Boissiere du Doré and to Budapest Zoo on the 14th of April 2003. You might remember her mother from the Munich footage I filmed in 2020. She's called Neema and kept the blackbacks in check, including Ozala's and Oumbie's son Okanda. You can catch up with them here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXC1aShJSBiViApL3h3GqE3i1nmX62v5t Iringa hasn't got any offspring, but she's always playing with Indigo. She also loves sitting by the window watching the people. Something most Gorillas don't do. Female gorilla N'yaounda the mum of Indigo was born on the 5th of February 2001 at Burgers' Zoo in the Netherlands. She was moved to Budapest Zoo on the 31st of October 2008. Her offspring are Bongo and Indigó. Female Gorilla Indigó, daughter of N'yaounda was born at the Budapest Zoo on the 23rd of December 2017. You will also find the footage of her here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXC1aShJSBiWXPrMcLLaEsHmfA_RCHZ-f via YouTube https://youtu.be/kYaxFTdXR8s

Prague Silverback Does The Deed Finished With A Love Bite Prague Zoo was hoping that Silverback Kisumu and Duni would get together to expand the family. Well their plan worked as Gorilla Duni got her way twice and finished off with a love bite from the huge Silverback. You could feel the tension between the Gorilla Duni and the silverback. In the hours I've watched the Dja Reserve pavilion gorilla group, Duni was following the silverback around. No bum-slapping this time lol ( Like the Antwerp gorillas), but you could see she was really interested in him and couldn't keep her eye off him. Silverback Kisumu didn't seem that interested at first but he came around in the end, twice! After the second time he finished with a love bite, which Duni wasn't expecting and quickly put her face in her hands. He stopped the biting quickly as a female came charging towards him. I didn't see which female came to the rescue. Kisumu was born on the May 27th 1997 at the Münchener Tierpark Hellabrunn, Germany. Before he came to Prague on the 10th of September 2022 he was in a bachelor group from the 04.March.2004 until 10.September 2022 at the Zoo Schmiding, Austria. Duni was born on April 16th 2013 in Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabárceno, Spain and got to Prague zoo on the 16.September 2022. Both haven't had any offspring YET. This was the last of the Prague Gorillas. Unfortunately, I was unable to get any more footage during the short time I was there, but as I said before I will definitely be back and maybe by then Ajabu has a little playmate. Next Thursday we're back to the Bristol Zoo Gorillas. Videos from before the zoo closed its doors to the public. This series will run for 4 weeks and after that, there is a new gorilla troop to look forward to that I haven't filmed before! Gorilla Tano From Münchner Tierpark Hellabrunn Gorilla Tano from the Münchner Tierpark Hellabrunn in Germany moved to the zoo together with the other blackback, Lope's and Shufai's big brother Okanda on the 07th of April 2015. Tano comes from Prague Zoo, his dad is called Richard. You've might have seen his dad in a couple of my older videos. Tano likes to wave the hessian sacks around and hit them against the window. A close-up of his eyes. The next bit, I found quite funny how he sat down like we would sit at a table to eat. The other thing Tano likes to do is swing. I've never seen a gorilla swing like this. He seems to really enjoy it. Afterwards he jumps into the net. His next swing is right after he receives a slap from Okanda. He jumps into the hammock and in the end just has a rest. #SloggerVlogger #GorillaTano Tanos's dad Richard: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXC1aShJSBiXxXmz4POajyqN6wbsemuMG SloggerVlogger

Okanda Moves For Sonja To Have Some Food Gorilla Okanda from the Münchner Tierpark Hellabrunn is having some of the last few bits of food leftover from lunch. He's looking around. On the left, on the rock is Tano and coming from the right is gorilla Sonja. Okanda decides to move away and let Sonja have some as well. He goes over to the pipe and has some food pellets instead. Next are the silver canisters, which look like they've got food in them as well. Okanda is Lope's and Shufai's big brother. He was born on April 17th 2011. Okanda and Lope have the same parents Mother Ozala and Silverback Oumbie. I saw some photos of Okanda when he was little and he actually looked more like Shufai the youngest brother. Okanda was very ill at an early age and some tests had to be done. Ozala was very protective of her son and she had to be sedated so the staff was able to give him a proper examination. Okanda was put back with his family after the tests, but unfortunately, Ozala's milk didn't have the nutrition that Okanda needed to get healthy again. That's when staff had to intervene. Sarah Chapman, the zoo’s expert vet took on his full-time care in her own home. Thanks to Sahra's round-the-clock care he got better after and he got moved back into accommodation at the Twycross Zoo where John Buchan, head of primates, took over. Twycross Zoo tried everything to reintroduce Okanda, but unfortunately was rejected by his family. They found a new home for him and he got moved to the Zoologisch-botanischer Garten Wilhelma in Germany on 17 January 2012. This is where Okanda met Tano. He was also rejected by his family in Prague. On the 07 April 2015 both gorillas Okanda and Tano (November 8th 2011) were moved to the Münchner Tierpark Hellabrunn where they joined Gorilla Bagira (June 6th 1986), Sonja (December 8th 1989), Neema (July 1st 1987) and gorilla baby Nafi (February 8th 2013). #SloggerVlogger #GorillaOkanda Visit my website at: https://ift.tt/IUJ6nuW Subscribe to my travel channel for Zoo Walkthroughs/Hyper Lapses and more: https://bit.ly/WatchAndSubTravel SloggerVlogger

Gorilla Nafi's Twirls As Excitement Builds For Lunch Everyone gets excited just before lunch. Young Nafi giving us a twirl. In front of Nafi is Neema, she's having a little charge and behind Nafi is Okanda running towards the window. Münchner Tierpark Hellabrunn gorilla habitat has a path in the middle of the chimpanzee enclosure and the gorillas where the staff can walkthrough. All are covered with plants, so the chimps and gorillas don't get bothered by each other. Nafi has a look through the window to see the staff already getting ready to feed the gorillas. She sprints away and does one twirl after another. Finally, it's food time. She picks some up and walks away with a few bits and bobs. Wonder where she's got that upright walk from :-). She gets herself some more greens. I was half expecting her to put it all in the box and carry it away, but she leaves the box behind and grabbed what she could. When she sat at the top, she lost one of the celery pieces. She is making up for it by collecting a lot more pieces later on. Another upright walk, collecting all the endives, as many as she could find and enjoy them sitting on the rock. Okanda is Lope's and Shufai's big brother. He was born on April 17th 2011. Okanda and Lope have the same parents Mother Ozala and Silverback Oumbie. I saw some photos of Okanda when he was little and he actually looked more like Shufai the youngest brother. NEW Gorilla Troop Series - Meet..... I'm so excited to introduce the new Gorilla troop temporary series from the "MÜNCHENER TIERPARK HELLABRUNN" showing you this gorilla family every Thursday until further notice. Why is this so special you wonder. Have a look at the first gorilla, bronze hair on his head and back, legs crossed, facial expression and that walk. No, it's not gorilla Lope, but his older brother Okanda. Don't they just look alike? I was just amazed when seeing him. He's Lope, just bigger. Okanda was born on April 17th 2011. Twycross Zoo tried everything to reintroduce Okanda again, but unfortunately was rejected by his family. They found a new home for him and he got moved to the Zoologisch-botanischer Garten Wilhelma in Germany on 17 January 2012. This is where Okanda met Tano. Who was also rejected by his family in Prague. On the 07 April 2015 both gorillas Okanda and Tano (November 8th 2011) were moved to the Münchner Tierpark Hellabrunn where they joined Gorilla Bagira ( June 6th 1986), Sonja ( December 8th 1989), Neema (July 1st 1987) and gorilla baby Nafi (February 8th 2013). Gorilla Bagira who was the female silverback got moved on to the Zoologischer Garten Saarbrücken on 24 January 2018. To give either Okanda or Tano a chance of becoming a silverback. To the video: The first clip, that bronze crown, many of us familiar with it from our lovable gorilla Lope. A quick look at Okanda's face. The feet, crossed just like Lope does. Sitting there like that, just gives you goosebumps how similar they do look. Look at that face. Okanda has a little charge towards the window. Looking at Tano and Okanda, neither are silverbacks yet (November 2021). Lots of food for the gorilla troop and Okanda seems to favour the carrots. That little leg flip we know so well and then the highlight the upright walk. Second, up is the oldest gorilla of the troop called Neema. She is a force to be reckoned with. The few days I was able to observe and film, I've seen her charging more times than I can count. 3rd up is Tano jumping at the window. Tano's dad is Richard from Prague Zoo. There are a couple of videos of Richard in the Gorilla Prague playlist. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXC1aShJSBiXxXmz4POajyqN6wbsemuMG A worried mother, pulling her child away seen in the reflection. Tano seemed to love looking at the people. 4th clip is of Gorilla Sonja eating the bark of a stick. She seems to have the same problem as Kera at the Bristol zoo. It looks like she pulled nearly all her hair. She also seems quite timid like Gorilla Asante. Next up Gorilla Nafi standing on the tree trunk. She is the only one in the troop that has been raised by her parents. She's got the same upright walk as Okanda. She's trying to see through the glass as the keepers get ready to feed them. Okanda and Nafi were very playful the time I was there and she seems very smitten by Okanda. Not sure Okanda is quite that keen :-). Nafi is still on the tree and Okanda swinging by trying to grab her. Okanda balances on the ropes to the other side. The last clip is of Nafi trying to grab Okanda. You'll see a lot more of these two and the rest of the gorilla troop. More next Thursday. Hopefully, you enjoyed the introduction. I don't really talk about myself, but this trip was very special to me as I saw my parents again after 3 years of waiting, the first time since the pandemic started. All the jabs and tests were done and any other precautions we had to take and we took the plunge to take the flight. My parents made the long journey to Bavaria as well and only my dad knew that I was meeting them there. You can imagine there were a lot of happy tears when my mum found out. Definitely a big surprise that went all to plan. Mum SloggerVlogger is probably reading this, so why not give her a hello? :-) I know she'll probably have another happy tear moment. Thank you, everyone. Travel videos of beautiful Bavaria coming up on my other channel: https://bit.ly/WatchAndSubTravel #SloggerVlogger #GorillaOkanda #SloggerVloggerGorillas SloggerVlogger

Gorilla Okanda A Pro At The Tennis Ball Food Puzzle The staff was really good at providing lots of food in different places. Some in-plane side, others were hidden for the gorillas to forage. They also used the tennis ball food puzzles for nuts, seeds, fruits and herbs. The tennis ball puzzle makes it a bit more challenging to get the food out. They've got one puzzle for each gorilla. Luckily Okanda chose the one near the window. He got himself a stick and got the bits out first that fit through the slit. Then he starts at the top and pushes the food all down a level with the stick until he could take them out of the bigger bottom hole. It really kept him busy poking, using his tongue and stick to get more and more out. Okanda is Lope's big brother. He was born on April 17th 2011. Okanda and Lope have the same parents Mother Ozala and Silverback Oumbie. I saw some photos of Okanda when he was little and he actually looked more like Shufai the youngest brother. Gorilla Tano And Okanda Potential Silverbacks Measure They Strength Continuing with the new Thursday gorilla series. Gorilla Tano and Okanda (Lope's big brother) have a scuffle in the back of their habitat. It's nothing serious, they just measuring their strength. One of the two will one day become the silverback of the troop. Until then, they're still blackbacks and enjoy their wrestling. We are probably all hoping for Okanda to get the role of Silverback as it is Lope's brother and we would love to see him with his own family, but watching these two I think at the moment Tano has the upper hand and he's slightly larger. This is just an observation of the very short time I was able to observe. I said it before, but the bronze on Okandas back and hair, just uncanny how similar to Gorilla Lope he is. As they move more to the front, they have a little breather. Okanda sitting on his favourite place the Tenis ball puzzle feeder. A close-up of Okanda, then he's running towards Tano again and slaps him. Tano beats his chest at Okanda and you'll see that it's all quite playful. When Okanda is back on the Tenis ball puzzle feeder, you'll see Sonja in the background and Neema behind her. Okanda moves, but comes back again to sit on the Tenis ball puzzle feeder once more. Until suddenly Tano pulls him off the feeder. Okanda runs after Tano and bites him in the back in front of the window. When Okanda sits on the rocks at the back. Tano has another cheeky slap at him. More next Thursday. Okanda (April 17th 2011) and Tano (November 8th 2011) were moved on the 07 April 2015 to the Münchner Tierpark Hellabrunn together.
