Affluence Villas vs. Rukmini Pranava 101: Which Haris Pranava Project Suits Your Lifestyle?
Tumblr media
When choosing a home for your family, there are many factors to consider. One of the most critical decisions is buying an apartment or a villa. Both housing types have advantages and disadvantages, so it’s essential to weigh the pros and cons carefully before deciding.
Well, this article will help you better understand what kind of house is more suitable for you Haris Pranava Project.
Here is a comparison of apartments and villas for families:
APARTMENTS
Pros:
Apartments are typically more affordable than villas.
They are often located in convenient areas, close to schools, shops, and other amenities.
Apartments often have shared amenities, such as swimming pools, gyms, and playgrounds, which can be an excellent way for families to socialize and have fun.
Property management companies generally have well-maintained apartments, so you don’t have to worry about repairs or yard work.
Cons :
Apartments can be noisy, especially if you live in a busy area.
You may have to share walls and ceilings with other tenants, which can lead to privacy issues.
Apartments often have smaller floor plans than villas, which can be problematic for larger families.
You may have less control over your living environment than in a villa.
VILLAS:
Pros:
Villas offer more privacy and space than apartments.
They often have private yards and gardens, which can be great for families with children.
Villas can be customized to your family’s specific needs and preferences.
You have more control over your living environment in a villa than in an apartment.
Cons :
Villas are typically more expensive than apartments.
They are often located in less convenient areas, away from schools, shops, and other amenities.
Villas require more maintenance than apartments.
You may have to worry about yard work and repairs.
Here are some additional factors to consider when making your decision:
Your budget: Villas are typically more expensive than apartments, so you need to make sure you can afford the monthly mortgage payments and other associated costs.
Your lifestyle: If you are busy and don’t have much time for yard work or repairs, then an apartment may be a better option. If you have more time to devote to home maintenance and enjoy having a yard, then a villa may be a better choice.
Your family’s needs: How many bedrooms and bathrooms do you need? Do you want a home with a yard or garden? Do you want to be close to schools and other amenities? Consider your family’s needs and wants carefully when making your decision.

Which is Better: An Apartment or an Independent House?
Tumblr media
Generally, a conventional norm for a house purchase is selecting a property at a prime location. Purchasing property at a prime location would give the buyer a better appreciation of their investment. Apartments in Goregaon west are considered to one of the prime locations in the Mumbai suburbs. There could be many questions that can occur to the buyer before purchasing a property, for example, whether they should go for apartments or an independent house. Usually, property value in the metros compel is too costly and due to space crunch, most buyers prefer looking for apartments. Apartments are slightly cheaper while comparing to the independent house. An Independent house is in the form villa or an assortment of floors built on a plot. Before investing in property, you should have some information about what is an independent house, what is an apartment and the difference between them,
Apartment - The term "apartment" can be generically applied to any residential unit inside a building. Apartments are a good choice for self-use and renting for investment purposes and for people who have shifted to the city for a short time. Apartments are one of the most popular and basic types of property across cities in India. And there are many reasons, for example, contemporary looks, modern-day amenities, in-house maintenance services, and better security. Apartments in Goregaon west equally level with independent houses in all aspects, and as far as the customization is concerned, it can be done at a small scale without altering the basic set-up of the apartment.
Independent house - Independent house is located on an independent plot and has its boundary wall. The land on which the house is built belongs to the person who owns the house. People who avoid the hassle of constructing a home and want privacy are preferred to buy this type of house. Maintenance charges for an independent house can be a self-bearing cost for a lifetime, and the safety and security of the house have to be taken by the owner himself. This type of house can offer great appreciation and resale value if the buyer has the patience to keep it for the long term. It is also an heirloom that will be beneficial for future generations.
Apartments vs. Independent house
• Apartment in Goregaon west comes with security, parking slot, power back-up, water systems, and fire safety mechanism; independent property needs extra effort and cost for setting up these services. According to research, 2 to 3 percent of the total property value is spent on these amenities around an independent house. It includes a setting up of a small power back-up in the form of an inverter or a generator set and your water mechanism.
• Appreciation of the independent house or villas is not as high as apartments in Goregaon west. It is because of the high initial capital involved and the limited demand for the independent house as compared to apartments. As the demand for apartments is high, it's easy for the buyer to sell or rent out the apartment. While on the other hand, due to less demand for the independent house, it's difficult to rent out or sell the villa.
Concluding Remarks
The choice is entirely left to the buyer. It depends largely on individual preferences and one's financial means, which gives them the freedom to choose between an independent house or an apartment. If you are looking for apartments like 1 BHK in Goregaon or 2 BHK in Goregaon, you can visit www.chandakgroup.com.They also offer 2 BHK for sale in Goregaon West.

Plot or Flat, Which is a Better Option – a Pionier Lifestyle Review
Investing money in a property is not an easy task. Not only does one need to find a safe avenue, but also think about what to buy–an apartment or a built-up house, or a plot. The decision depends on your needs, lifestyle preferences, and other aspects like taxation and bank loan.
Tumblr media
While investing in BDA plots for sale in Bangalore or land means building a house as per one's own requirements and approved layout, a flat is a multi-floored construction with no freedom to change the construction layout and size.
In a plotted development, you are responsible for the construction and security of the built-up house, whereas, in an apartment, there is the benefit of security, location, and accessibility.
Plot vs. flat: Which one is a better investment option?
Effort
While buying a plot, one has to plan construction on an approved layout and hire an architect or a contractor to execute it. Apart from supervising the construction, arranging finances and dealing with local bodies and contractors, it involves a lot of leg work over little things.
But, when you buy an apartment, the developer is in charge and gives possession upon the completion of the flat. One only has to worry about furnishing the house and not the actual construction.
Moreover, a flat comes with basic amenities like power back-up, water, maintenance, and security and some added amenities like a clubhouse, swimming pool, etc.
If you decide to buy a plot and build a house on it, you will certainly have to make all arrangements on your own. This makes buying a flat a good proposition.
Delivery
While it may take some months or even years to get the possession of an apartment, plots for sale in Sarjapur Road are usually ready for possession. If your choice of plot is part of a township, you are likely to get possession of the plot earlier than a flat.
As developing a plot is easier, it has more takers, therefore, it is easy to exit your investment when you want to. Appreciation depends on the location and proximity to big infrastructure projects. Also, during stable market conditions, the worth of a plot rises with time.
Location, surrounding infrastructure, and the quality of neighbourhood push up the value of apartments, as they do for premium villa plots in Sarjapur too.
Tax
Tax treatment for premium lakeside villa plots and flat is different. When you take a home loan to buy an apartment or a builder floor, the monthly loan repayment allows you to save tax.
Income
If earning a regular rental income is on your mind, you must invest in a built-up flat. An apartment can be rented out to fetch you some income, whenever you want, which is not possible in the case of BDA approved sites for sale.

Lockdown pushed many upper-middle-class desis to ‘First World’ practices
New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/lockdown-pushed-many-upper-middle-class-desis-to-first-world-practices/
Lockdown pushed many upper-middle-class desis to ‘First World’ practices
The term ‘Third World’ was, rather predictably, coined by a First World anthropologist, Alfred Sauvy, who in 1952, in the French magazine, L’Observateur, used it to describe countries overtly unaligned to both communist Soviet Union-led Warsaw Pact States as well as capitalist US-led Nato States. The Cold War-forged geopolitical notions of ‘First World’ and ‘Third World’ morphed into the more popular economically divided ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’ countries, which, dictated by the rules of political correctness, further morphed into the better table-mannered ‘developed’ and ‘developing’ nations.
But whatever terminology one chooses to roll off one’s tongue, one of the joys of being a member of a ‘Third World’ country is that with the right ingredients and opportunities, one can momentarily step out of this landscape – with its qualities of ambient poverty, slapdashery (re-branded as ‘the genius of jugaad’), infrastructure that is far more loyal to collapse than to sturdiness, and optical ugliness (re-branded as ‘happy chaos’) – to showcase one’s special, even fortunate, position. Thus, the Indian upper-middle class joys of vacationing in foreign countries, the exalted position given to NRIs, and basking in the oases of ‘First Worldliness’ in a ‘Third World’ sea inside one’s apartments or gated society buildings (e.g. Palm Spring Villa in Gurugram vs Gurugram; Epsilon Towers in Kandivali, Mumbai vs Kandivali, Mumbai).
This pleasure of being able to flit in (and out of) the ‘First World’ while being in India seems to have been strangely shaken up and messed with during the Covid-19-related nationwide lockdown, which marks one-month of its existence today.
On top of almost everyone’s utter ‘lockdown pleasures’ –described with awe, and certainly with more than a hint of shock – is observing how wonderfully blue the skies have become. These grimy, viscous, smoke-ridden skies for which people were wearing face masks not six months back ‘to breathe’ are today gloriously clear, ultramarine, watercolourable, as we look up wearing repurposed face masks. In other words, we are looking at ‘First World’ skies from our balconies.
From our balconies that have not moved an inch since we looked down to quietly shudder at the traffic, and accompanying Third World road journey irritants, we would have to endure on our way to and back from work, now we find Nordic emptiness in tropical and sub-tropical climes. If we earlier sniggered at Delhi’s ‘cute’ odd-even measures to ostensibly tackle pollution (it actually tackled traffic) before, the ‘odd and even’ measures forced upon us seem to make us live these Covid-19 days inside First World towns that we get to observe in crime web series and plan to put on our bucketlist of travel destinations (my favourite First World place of choice being the Croatian city of Rijeka, depicted in the drama series Novine (The Paper) on Netflix).
Lockdown has also pushed many of us upper-middle-class desis to other ‘First World’ practices and behaviours. Take cooking, for instance. With our regular cooks unavailable, cooking for ‘downtime’, ‘relaxing’ or ‘pleasure’ has become a necessity – much like those living a normal daily life without a cook or a kitchen help in Planet First World. This DIY resonance with First World ‘modernity’ finds its Indian gallery on social media in the form of the plethora of cooking posts and images, down to its hashtag ‘details of doing’.
Less alluring, of course, are other First World activities ‘denied’ to India’s urban middle-classes of cleaning, swabbing, mopping etc of homes, which, at best, become memes or funny moments of ‘daily chores we are not used to doing’.
But along with memes such as ‘The air is so clean that the Dhauladhar mountain range in Himachal Pradesh is visible from Jalandhar’ – and variations that have ‘Canada’ and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai visible from Punjab and Hyderabad respectively – the Covid-19 lockdown has given us an inkling that First World conditions are not inherently, intrinsically impossible in ‘Third World’ 2020 India.
By making qualities such as chaos, filth, bad community practices and disastrous civic sense permanently part of ‘our immutable Indian/subcontinental/Third World ways,’ one not only keeps the world outside one’s apartment or building society separate, but also maintains the social status quo that allows most of us to live, if only in snatches, the First World life and make us feel special. To think that India could replicate ‘First World’ conditions without lockdown would, of course, be an open invitation to accuse such thinkers of elitism – of the Third World kind.

How Much Does It Cost To Clean Construction Site?
Typical Range: $275 - $652
No new build or renovation project is over until every contractor has finished his or her piece and the entire area has been cleaned and inspected. Properly cleaning up a construction site is about more than simple housecleaning or even deep cleaning and debris removal. It includes everything from ridding the walls of scuff marks and smudges to waxing floors and scrubbing windows. Perhaps more importantly, through the post-construction cleaning process, it is possible to thoroughly inspect every nook and cranny of the project. This helps homeowners ensure that everything is in place, secure, and safe before marking common jobs such as remodels or additions "complete" and beginning to use their new space.
While some general contractors do their own construction site cleanup, contracting out to a company that specializes in this niche service is the best way to get the deep clean you need to really show off the addition you built onto your house or the new garage in the backyard to buyers or guests. It also helps you save yourself the hassle of re-cleaning a rushed job. While the cost of construction site cleanup varies greatly according to the size of the space and the nature of the building or renovation, homeowners report that the average costs range between $279-$657 for a residential construction cleanup job.

Cost Factors – Post Construction Cleaning Services La Villa Texas
There are many factors that contribute to the final cost of any post-construction cleanup job, including the size of the home or project, the supplies needed, the location of the job, the overall condition and accessibility of the property, and the level of cleaning that homeowners desire. Here are a few additional specific cost factors to keep in mind:
The cost per square foot for cleaning a large commercial property will likely be well under the cost per square foot for residential cleanup. While commercial cleanup generally costs between $0.10-$0.30 per square foot, residential cleanup jobs range from $0.10-$0.50 per square foot.
The final phase of cleanup is the most thorough and therefore the most expensive. Expect to pay the high-end rate of about $0.50 per square foot for this phase of cleaning.
The local competition matters. If you live in an area where there are several construction cleanup contractors available, you are likely to pay closer to the low end of the scale than if there are only a few companies in your area.
Premium charges may apply for specialty projects. Windows are generally charged separately from normal square footage at a rate that increases if they are located above the second floor. Two other premium-charge jobs are waxing and buffing wood floors, which costs about $308 on average depending on the square footage, and thorough HVAC duct cleaning, which may cost between $242 and $434 on average.

Reasons To Buy Or Rent An Apartment
Apartment :
Apartments are a result of concentration of population in cities and metros where open spaces have become scarce. A number of dwelling units are made one upon another and also side by side to save space and are called apartments. The person who makes these dwelling units is the landlord and he leases out an apartment to the person who wishes to live in it. You have a right to live as long as you wish in an apartment but the property remains in the name of the landlord.
Apartment vs House:
Both house and apartment are dwelling units.
You own a house where as you get an apartment on lease.
House has more privacy than an apartment.
In an apartment you may have to share amenities that are common with others.
Advantages Of Renting An Apartment:
When you rent, you don’t have to worry about things like moving the lawn, repairing a leaky roof, buying a new hot water heater, or most other things that require maintenance.
Renting can also be the first step towards buying a home, since you can get to know the area before you buy a house. It would be heartbreaking to buy a house, then a few months later, wish that you lived a few miles away.
If you move frequently, or you are unsure of how long you will be staying in the area, renting could be the better choice.
People in the military are often better off with renting an apartment, since they could be stationed somewhere else at any time.
Advantages Of Buying an Apartment:
An Apartment can increase in value, which means you can gain more if you decide to put it on the market. There are no ups and downs in your payment if you take out a fixed-rate mortgage. It will remain constant through the life of the loan. When you buy a home, you are free to do what you like with the interiors.
Benefits Of Living In An Apartment :
Financial
Maintenance
Amenities
Safety
Size
Community
Short Term
Savings
Lower Responsibility
Accessibility
Buying a ready-to-move-in flat requires you to pay a lump-sum amount over a period of time. This means you pay as you start living in the house. Cost of purchasing a flat depends on the location. Living in an Apartment can be much more cost efficient when compared to an independent villa or home. In the case of Apartments, since space is carefully squeezed there would be less number of electrical points compared to independent homes. Lesser the points lesser would be the bill. So if we overall compare the bills of an apartment and an independent house, Apartment always has an upper hand by saving money.

Premier League 2018/19 Tactical Analysis: Liverpool vs Leicester City

Premier League 2018/19 Tactical Analysis: Liverpool vs Leicester City
Artwork by @chapulana
Manchester City were defeated by Newcastle United at St. James’ Park just a day before title rivals Liverpool faced Leicester. Pep Guardiola’s men actually started the game well with an early goal from Sergio Aguero from an unorthodox assist by Bernardo Silva. Somehow, Rafael Benitez managed his squad brilliantly, allowing them to clinch a precious 2–1 victory.
Knowing they could thus widen the gap to seven points, Liverpool came into this match with high hopes. The home side won their previous two matches against Brighton and Crystal Palace by scoring five goals, thanks to their deadly frontmen led by star man Mohamed Salah. Meanwhile, Leicester City came to Anfield on the back of a string of bad results. Claude Puel’s side had lost all of their previous three games, including a humiliating defeat to League Two side Newport County in the FA Cup.
As expected, Liverpool dominated the majority of the game. Sadio Mane’s goal in the third minute was the first piece of evidence. Unluckily for the Reds, Harry Maguire bagged an equaliser for Leicester late in the first half. Jurgen Klopp’s side tried their utmost to the winner but they failed to do so. The game ended in a draw and Liverpool were only able to widen the gap to five points. This tactical analysis will inform you how the match unfolded.
Starting lineups
Lineups from both teams (sofascore.com)
Liverpool opted for their usual 4–2–3–1. James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s absence from this game forced Klopp to play Jordan Henderson at right-back. In the middle of the park, Naby Keita stood alongside Georginio Wijnaldum. Xherdan Shaqiri returned on the right wing to support the deadly trio of Mane, Roberto Firmino and Salah.
Puel set his team up in a 4–4–1–1. Former Manchester United player Jonny Evans played alongside Maguire at the back. Demarai Gray and James Maddison provided the width on both flanks. Up top, Jamie Vardy was supported by Marc Albrighton, who was playing slightly behind him. Kelechi Iheanacho, Shinji Okazaki, and Hamza Choudhury had to start the game on the bench.
The approach
Liverpool started the game in brilliant fashion. After a solid minute of possession, Mane found Andrew Robertson empty on the left flank with a simple pass. The Scottish full-back then played the ball into the feet of Firmino. The Brazilian, noticing Mane had already made his run inside the left half-space, smartly flicked the ball into his path. Mane then gave Liverpool a great start by slotting the ball calmly inside the far post to make it 1–0.
Mane, Robertson, and Firmino combined for the game’s opening goal.
Despite conceding an early goal, Leicester opted to play defensively in a 4–4–2. They happily used a compact 4–4–2 when they didn’t have the ball. Going forward, Leicester would opt to use counter-attacks as their main weapon, utilising Gray and Vardy’s deadly pace.
Leicester surprisingly stayed defensive with a compact 4–4–2 despite being behind.
Liverpool were not satisfied with just one goal. They were constantly looking for the second goal but Leicester’s low-block gave them problems. In the first phase of their build-ups, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip always struggled to distribute the ball forward because they had to face Albrighton and Vardy in front of them. Klopp then tasked one of his midfielders, usually Wijnaldum, to create numerical superiority against Leicester’s frontmen. This resulted in smoother first phase build-ups by Liverpool.
Wijnaldum dropped to help Matip and Van Dijk in possession.
Liverpool also used a quite similar approach to what they had deployed against Crystal Palace in the previous gameweek. They sent their full-backs high on both flanks to provide width. By doing this, Liverpool were hoping for them to send crosses into the box whenever possible.
Klopp’s choice to implement this tactic had other consequences. In the newly-shaped 3–4–3, there were some adjustments to the attackers. Shaqiri was tasked with tucking inside and dropping into midfield from his initial position as a right winger. This filled the vacated area left by the dropping midfielder.
Salah, Firmino, and Mane were instructed to stay close to the defenders, sometimes placing themselves in the channels between the back four. This was so they could receive the ball directly to their feet. When one of them got the ball, they would then combine with his teammates nearby to create chances. Klopp was very aware of his attackers’ ability in tight spaces, hence why he opted to use this approach.
Henderson and Robertson were placed high and wide to provide width.
In this temporary 3–4–3, Liverpool’s attacking trio didn’t drop. They would place themselves next to the defenders and ask the ball to be played to their feet.
Firmino, Mane, Salah, and Shaqiri have great ability in tight spaces which allows them to combine and create chances against teams with low block.
Puel’s adjustments
In the 23rd minute, Puel made some changes to his team. Gray, who was initially playing as a right winger, was moved to the left wing. Maddison made way, and move himself behind Vardy. Albrighton then switched to the right flank to complete the adjustments.
Gray was considered to be Leicester’s best dribbler. In his new position, he had to face an emergency right-back in Jordan Henderson. He gave the home side’s captain a lot of problems with his pace and magnificent dribbling. There were some moments when Henderson was misplaced or late to track back; these moments were exploited by Leicester, thus making Gray their main outlet in attacks.
Gray actually possessed less defensive quality than Albrighton. Sometimes the youngster was badly positioned, therefore allowing Henderson to freely receive on the right flank. Whenever Henderson received the ball, he would try to send it into the box with his crosses. Luckily for Leicester the crosses resulted in nothing, as a result of Maguire’s rock-solid performance.
In this transitional sequence, Ndidi finds Gray easily in behind. Unfortunately, the latter failed to find anyone inside the box with his cutback pass.
Henderson sometimes miscalculated his attacking runs, thus giving Gray a lot of spaces to exploit.
Gray failed to close the passing lane to Henderson. This allowed Henderson to receive freely and only have Ben Chilwell in front of him.
On the opposite side, Robertson’s attacking threats were perhaps the main reason why Albrighton was sent to the right flank. Robertson was very aggressive and very willing to join the attacks. He could even be found inside Leicester’s penalty box to receive crosses at the far post.
Robertson joined his team’s counter-attack. Albrighton was a bit late to track back but luckily Leicester had already put bodies inside their box.
Robertson went aggressive in this sequence; asking the ball to be played into him. Albrighton closed the passing lane brilliantly this time.
The former Aston Villa player possessed a better defensive ability than Gray and Maddison, therefore making him the most logical option for Puel to be his right winger. Albrighton was more disciplined defensively and successfully limited Robertson’s threats because of that trait.
Magnificent Maguire
The ‘Slabhead’ played brilliantly in attack and defence. In defence, he was very sound thus making The Foxes almost impenetrable. Maguire won five out of seven duels and made ten clearances in total. His ball distribution was not bad either; all three of his long pass attempts found their targets in this game. Offensively, Maguire was more than good for his team. When names like Vardy and Maddison failed to create anything, Maguire stepped up and score the equaliser for his team with the last kick of the first half.
Apart from Maguire’s outstanding performance, we must give credit to Puel’s choice to utilise dead-ball situations. When his counter-attacks didn’t work in this game, he still has a potent alternative for set-pieces. Puel used Maguire very well in such situations, and his goal was a result from one of the set-piece routines.
Puel would place Maguire at the far post in dead-ball situations. At the far post, Maguire usually only had Henderson to face because Van Dijk was placed more centrally. Maguire’s sheer size gave him the qualitative superiority and allowed him to dominate Henderson in aerial duels.
Besides, when he came from the far post he would be almost undetectable. This happened because he came from the defender’s blind-spot. With his undetectable runs and supreme aerial ability, Maguire was a nightmare for Liverpool’s defence throughout this match.
Maguire started at the far post before his goal. Van Dijk couldn’t track his run because Maguire was behind him and made his run from the Dutchman’s blind-spot.
Maguire escaped the offside trap after a cheeky assist by Chilwell. Van Dijk didn’t know Maguire was there, and was punished. Henderson (raising his hand) didn’t even try to stop him. 1–1.
Surprisingly, Liverpool had no response to this. In the 52nd minute, Leicester got another free-kick in a relatively similar place to the one that led to Maguire’s goal. Again, Klopp’s men allowed Maguire to be completely free at the far post. Maguire came from Henderson and Van Dijk’ blind-spots and both of them somehow did not learn from what had happened just minutes before.
Maguire came from Henderson and Van Dijk’s blind-spots: silly defending from the home side.
Unfortunately for Leicester, Maddison’s free-kick was a bit too deep, and Maguire was unable to head the ball directly at goal. Instead, Maguire headed the ball across the goalmouth, hoping for one of his teammates to tap the ball in. In fact, the ball arrived at Firmino’s shin and deflected towards Alisson’s goal. Alisson reacted brilliantly by saving the ball with his feet to keep the score even.
Alisson had to make a goal-line save in this sequence.
Deeper and deeper
Leicester were more cautious in the second half and opted to sit deeper, especially for the last 15 minutes. At times, Leicester even used 6–3–1 defensively in order to nullify Liverpool’s wing-play. In that shape, both full-backs would tuck inside and the wingers would retreat in parallel with the defenders.
Leicester deployed 6–3–1 for some occasions in the second half.
Puel sent Choudhury on for Maddison in the 75th minute. As a right winger, the newly-introduced 22-year-old didn’t even cross the halfway line in his cameo performance. Instead, he made one great tackle to deny Mane from creating a dangerous chance late in the game. Then, the French manager added Okazaki for more defensive solidity in the 84th minute.
Conclusion
Once again, Liverpool had it hard against a team with a compact low-block. Klopp made some attacking adjustments from his team’s previous match but they were not enough. The absence of Milner and Alexander-Arnold did limit his team’s ability to create from the right flank. Henderson was not quite the man to fill the job.
Liverpool were also a bit lucky because their defensive failures went unpunished. Especially in dead-ball situations, there were some errors that would have cost the Reds in another match. On the other hand, we must give credit to Puel and his players, who smartly exploited Liverpool’s weaknesses. His defensive approach worked as planned, and his set-piece routines were excellent.
Approaching this weekend, the gap between Liverpool and Manchester City is five points. With 14 league games remaining and Champions League duty for both teams, the title race is far from over. Klopp now has a huge amount of homework to do, namely to improve his team’s ability at both ends. If he fails to do so, Liverpool will always struggle against lesser teams and their title hope could be in danger.

Armchair Analyst: Complete guide to the 6-game Week 4 slate
March 23, 20189:21AM EDT
Into the weekend we dive. It’s just Saturday this time …
New England vs. NYCFC
1:30pm ET | Full preview | TV & streaming info
We know what NYCFC’s about at this point, right? They’ve hammered teams with their high pressure through the first three weeks, are the only perfect (3-0-0) team in MLS, and have done it in spite of more than a few injuries. This week that includes d-mid Alex Ring, who’s on international duty and wouldn’t be available anyway, but seems to have picked up some sort of knock of indeterminate severity (anybody read Finnish?).
But … well, this is the whole point of what the Cityzens did this offseason. They’re now in their fourth MLS season and have, over that time, built one of the league’s deepest teams. David Villa’s their best player and they were fine without him last week. Ring’s their most important, and while his absence hurts, it’s not like they’re unprepared for this eventuality. The braintrust in the Bronx deserves some dap.
New England’s more of a mystery, especially after their weird first two weeks – two red cards in a listless Week 1 loss, a makeshift central defense in a necessary Week 2 home win over the Rapids. What’s their real identity? Hard to say.
However, it seems clear that Brad Friedel is leaning toward Teal Bunbury as the starting center forward for the express purpose of getting behind opposing defenses. Bunbury had significant success against the league’s high-pressing teams last season, getting on the board against NYCFC, RBNY and SKC. The problem, though, might be getting him the ball. Nobody in central midfield is connecting particularly telling passes:
That’s the chalkboard for Scott Caldwell and Wilfried Zahibo against Colorado. Green arrows are completed passes, red incomplete and yellow are key passes (passes that lead to a shot). There’s a lot of moving the ball side-to-side, but not much moving it forward.
Maybe that’s something they figure out in Week 4.
FC Dallas vs. Portland
3:30pm ET | Full preview | UniMás – TV & streaming info
We saw big chunks of what looked like 2015/16-era FC Dallas last weekend vs. the Sounders. Remember the team that won the Supporters’ Shield/US Open Cup double? The one that became the first team in MLS history to post back-to-back 60-point seasons? The one who had the league’s most entertaining player ripping teams apart in central midfield with his magical passing ability?
Armchair Analyst: What is your decision-making process when you’re on the break? Let FC Dallas provide you some clarity pic.twitter.com/k3EybLN2CV
— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) March 18, 2018
I love Mauro Diaz and don’t care who knows it. And I’m sure I’m only fractionally as happy to see him back and spraying passes like that one as Dallas fans are.
Still, I question the team around him – behind him, really. The defense posted a shutout last week but were gappy, and while using Carlos Gruezo a little bit higher has its merits (he was good against the Sounders), he’s still better as a No. 6. And more to the point: when he’s not playing as a No. 6, the backline is likelier to be exposed.
Obviously, the question is “Can the Portland Timbers pull themselves together enough to actually expose it?” They were kind of bad in Week 1 at LA and then famously bad in Week 2 against the Red Bulls’ back-ups. Gio Savarese seems to want his team to press high and win the ball back in dangerous spots, but so far, so bad. He might be wise to have his team sit deeper and more compact, mimicking what Caleb Porter did over the last four seasons, instead of asking them to be on the front foot.
Two big reasons for this. First, no (or limited) Diego Chara means no safety net. Second, neither Diego Valeri nor Fanendo Adi are particularly adept pressing players. Add in a so-slow-they’re-running-in-mud central defense, and those are compelling reasons to play a little bit more on the back foot.
Crew SC vs. D.C. United
6pm ET | Full preview | TV & streaming info
Federico Higuain had the kicker in our own Andrew King’s look at the Crew SC system from earlier this week:
“We’ve been playing this way for [four years] now,” Higuain said with a laugh. “I’m surprised the media is talking about it now.”
Columbus launch their fullbacks higher than any other team in MLS, and Higuain’s movement makes him the hardest-to-track No. 10 in MLS. When he drags defenses around, that opens up gaps in the channels for inverted, attacking wingers, which forces the opposing backline into a series of rapidfire decisions about who to step to and how hard. The overall effect is to constantly put the Columbus center forward into spots where he has only one CB to beat off the ball, and that leads to tap-ins.
Unless, of course, you cut the supply chain at its genesis:
#CrewSC had about 100 more passes against Philly than the other two matches this season. An issue was that these extra passes were between the 4 defenders as well as them not going through @wil_trapp. Gif of each game’s passing networks (h/t @AnalysisEvolved for raw data): pic.twitter.com/uDylnIA5fN
— Eliot (@etmckinley) March 21, 2018
With no Wil Trapp this weekend, it’ll be beyond interesting to see how Columbus adjust.
D.C. United have to be prepared to take advantage of that. I’ve been kind of lukewarm on their 4-1-4-1 so far – the formation doesn’t make a ton of sense if your center forward can’t hold the ball up – but this is a week in which it might actually be the best choice. Get two attacking midfielders forcing turnovers in that spot (or at the very least denying real distribution), and they may be able to force Columbus to scramble, or at the very least disrupt their rhythm.
There’s also a decent chance D.C.’s own distribution could force a dislocation between the Crew SC midfield and backline:
Chris Durkin’s been legit in limited minutes. He’s probably going to start, and this is going to be a huge weekend for him.
RBNY vs. Minnesota United FC
7pm ET | Full preview | TV & streaming info
The New York Red Bulls got Rimando’d in last weekend’s 1-0 loss at RSL, plain and simple. They were the better team for the vast majority of that game, but succumbed to the greatest goalkeeper in league history putting on a vintage performance.
Which is to say, there’s not much for them to worry about at this point. Even when digging deep down into the roster, they’ve been able to come out and play the same way: Frenetic, front-foot, high pressure soccer. They’ll be missing a cadre of internationals this weekend, but go ahead and bet everything you own that the Red Bulls will still look very much like the Red Bulls (the only question is whether they’ll do so out of a 4-2-3-1 or a 3-3-3-1).
There are bigger questions about Minnesota United FC, who are off to a surprising 2-1-0 start. The Loons’ central defense is gone, as is 2/3 of what was supposed to make up their starting central midfield. Add in an injury to right back Tyrone Mears … my on-the-face-of-it take is that they have nowhere near the depth to survive this weekend, so go right ahead and load up your MLS Fantasy team with Red Bulls.
Colorado Rapids vs. Sporting KC
9pm ET | Full preview | TV & streaming info
One thing we know about the Colorado Rapids at this point is that they’re playing out of a 5-3-2/3-5-2 for pretty much the full 90. They’ve generally lacked a bit of creativity through central midfield – which we can chalk up, at least in part, to the absence of Stefan Aigner. Their most reliable plan, through 270 competitive minutes, is to find Dominique Badji on the counter. And man do they love to hit long balls.
Here’s d-mid Jack Price’s distribution chart against the Revs in Colorado’s only regular season match to date:
Price has the green light to just launch it.
They play direct and over-the-top, and while it’s not exactly pretty, it’s been at least a little bit effective – remember the chances they spurned against TFC in the Concacaf Champions League? Or Niki Jackson’s goal vs. New England? Say what you want about the tenets of Route One, dude – at least it’s an ethos. There’s mileage to be gained by knowing who you are.
The same, of course, applies to Sporting KC. Their defense has been bad this year, which is and remains shocking, but they’re still a high-pressing team, and if you (attempt to) play long-balls over the press, it makes it more difficult to then set up any sort of press yourself. Those launches get gobbled up by any decent backline, and then it’s once more unto the breach.
So far in 2018, “unto the breach” has proved fruitful for SKC by way of their wingers. Johnny Russell has been particularly good at making direct, north-south runs, which has occupied opposing backlines enough to create gaps for Felipe Gutierrez, who’s got three goals in three games.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. LA Galaxy
10pm ET | Full preview | TSN – Full TV & streaming info
Hello, Zlatan. I wrote a bunch about how the LA Galaxy could work the legendary striker into their plans. I’m certain that won’t be germane this weekend, but in general: Boy, LA have a lot of injuries and absences; and boy, would this be a nice weekend for Sebastian Lletget to show he’s back to 100-percent fit.
Other than that, it’s hard to see how LA walk into this one. The Vancouver Whitecaps are short-handed themselves, but have enough depth to make up for injuries, suspensions and international absences. This really isn’t bad:
(4-1-4-1) Stefan Marinovic — Jakob Nerwinski, Jose Aja, Aaron Maund, Marcel de Jong — Russell Teibert — Alphonso Davies, Felipe, Efrain Juarez, Yordy Reyna — Kei Kamara

The question I have is whether or not Vancouver will really try to carry play, as they did in Week 1 at home against the Impact. They’re still much more comfortable scrunched up in their own end then hitting on the counter, but diversifying that approach could be the tactical Plan B this group needs to go one step further than last year.
One more thing to ponder
Happy weekending, everyone.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 vs Pixel 2 cameras: This was the toughest comparison yet
Corey Protin/Business Insider
People looking to upgrade to a new Android phone have a pretty tough choice to make.
One of the things that used to help prospective Android phone buyers make their choice was the phone's camera. But camera quality is so similar and so good among most top Android smartphones that it's no longer a deal-breaker.
I took photos with Samsung's new Galaxy Note 8 and Google's new Pixel 2 XL, the latter of which has the same camera as the regular Pixel 2, and I'm cautious about declaring a winner. Both have their ups and downs in different areas, and I'm confident that you'd be happy with either phone if you're looking for great camera quality.
Check out the photos I took with both phones, and you can decide for yourself which one fits your bill:
The Galaxy Note 8 does amazingly well in this photo.
The Note 8's photo has a gorgeous deep blue sky, better colors, and better contrast than the Pixel's photo. The Pixel also seems to add a yellow-ish tint to the photo, which gives the photo a warmer color "temperature."
Both phones took great photos here, but there are subtle differences.
The major thing to note in this photo is that the Pixel did a better job of retaining details in darker, shadowy areas of the photo.
Apart from that, the Note 8 photo's colors are a little deeper, but things like the trees and skin tones are a little warmer than they should be, as they look somewhat yellow compared to the Pixel photo.
Next up, the Note 8 has a second lens with a 2x optical zoom, which the Pixel doesn't have.
