Mount Cook/Aoraki in New Zealand has a special significance to me as I had the incredible opportunity to live and work in the national park last year. So this book I thrifted was an awesome find and contained a sneaky old newspaper article! Mount Cook Holiday is a detailed tour through the park paired with unique illustrations on every page. Between the pages, I found a folded article that details a commercial perspective on tourism in the country. Mt. Cook, the tallest mountain in New Zealand, helped Sir Edmund Hillary develop his climbing skills in preparation for the conquest of Everest. At Mt. Cook we hiked the Hooker Valley Trail along the Hooker River, crossing three swing bridges, before ending at the glacier lake and taking-in amazing views. In a fortunate stroke of serendipity, our travel itinerary criss-crossed with our new friends so we all got to share another amazing hike in great company!
