@ma-serannas-vhenan real quick. I have this weird idea in my head. I guess an AU?? It’s for Solas. It doesn’t make sense,,but it’s been in my head for awhile. I need someone to share my little AUs with shbs. It takes place after when Solas finds the inquisitor and takes the Anchor and it’s in his romance. It’s kinda long too-
But anyways here it is👀:
Solas falls asleep (if he ever does idk bro-) and enters the fade. But it’s not necessarily whats around him. It’s like the future, but a dream of the future I guess. Idk how to word it lol.
He’s looking around and he’s in the hall of the inquisition where the throne is. He looks around and sees people, but what confuses him most is that they’re not reacting to him. They’re talking like normal, as if nothing is wrong. He sees a mirror and looks into it and sees he’s not him. It’s like an illusion to make him look different. It confused him, but his time to think is interrupted by a small, high pitched voice, followed by a pull on his hand.
He turns around and sees no one, but once he looks down he sees a little elf girl, maybe only 5, who has this ginger hair, blue eyes, freckles, and she was sad.
“I-I’m sorry to bother sir, but I need help finding my mom. I lost her!” The little girl sounds horrified and Solas feels sadness for her too. He smiled at her and offers to help her. She smiled back at him (the brightest smile he’s seen in awhile) and takes his hand.
“What does your mom look like?”
“Umm, she has hair like me, eyes like me, freckles like me, and she’s an important person. I forgot the word,” the girl says, tripping over a few words. He laughs because that doesn’t help at all. Many people would look like her, so he just looked around.
Surprisingly, no one looked like her, and no one called out to her and the girl didn’t call out to anyone either. Solas was a little confused at how no one looked like this little girl, and he could tell her anxiety was getting worse. She would squeeze his hand sometimes.
He continued to walk around Skyhold (he couldn’t lie and say he didn’t miss seeing this place...) and look in the buildings.
“What about your dad?”
“Um, it’s hard to describe him. The main thing that stands out is his necklace. It’s a jaw of an animal. My momma told me but I can’t remember,” the girl said, trying hard to remember. He was a little worried as to why she couldn’t remember what her own father looked like, but then all of her words processed in his mind. Bone necklace? His heart was racing a bit at the idea of it being his necklace. His wolf jawbone necklace, but it couldn’t be him. Why would it be him? He shook it off and was curious as to why she can’t remember.
“Why can’t you remember the necklace?
“He shows it to me all the time, I just keep forgetting the name. When he’s sleeping, he either gives it to me or my momma. My mom won’t tell me what he’s healing from, but she told me she saved his life. It’s a long story, and she promised to tell me when I grow up!” He could tell the little girl was excited, and he smiled at that thought. Bloom was still doing what she always did. Saving people. He couldn’t lie and say he wishes it was him to end up with her, but he knows it cannot be. It never will be.
Eventually, he ends up taking her back to the throne room, and as soon as they walk in, Solas sees a woman going around asking people something.
“Have you seen my little girl? She looks just like me,” she would say, her voice shaking from panic. “No, Inquisitor, I have not. I’m sorry,” they would reply. She would nod and go to the next person.
“Momma!” The little girl called out, causing the woman to turn towards him and the little girl. The little girl let go of his hand and ran towards her momma. Bloom (my inquisitor for Solas) would do a happy sigh as she picks her daughter up (with her one arm which is a little difficult) and hug her close to her. “Don’t scare me like that again!” The Girl would apologize but point towards Solas. “This man was helping me find you, sorry I didn’t wait.” Bloom would look towards Solas and he could take her appearance in.
He doesn’t know how long it has been, but her hair is longer, her freckles are still where they were, and her eyes are still as blue as the sea. He stared for a few seconds and took her in until he noticed her talking to him. “Thank you for helping my daughter,” she said with a smile. It was clear her daughter was everything to her. Solas didn’t know what to say. She once again made him speechless. “It’s no problem,” he said, voice quiet.
“You look new here. Why don’t I show you around?” Bloom would look at him with a kind smile, but not the one she used with only him. He wishes it was, but knows he won’t see it again. He knows this place by heart and knows it would useless, but he accepts the offer, wanting to hear her voice again...and not in shouts of pain and filled with anger. Bloom puts down her daughter and ruffled her hair. “Why dont you go find Lady Josephine and be with her for awhile?” The girls eyes lit up and she nodded with a smile. “I like being with Josephine!!” The girl ran off while still being polite to others around her. Definitely Blooms little girl. Boom smiled at him again and lead him towards the exit of the entrance (of the throne room I guess?? What do you call that area?)
“So, where ya from?” They we’re walking down the stairs, a little slowly since Bloom wanted to get to know him. She liked getting to know new people, trying to not make them fear her. He tried to think up an answer, but couldn’t. “A little town away from here. A nice, cozy place, but I wanted to do more with my life and now I’m here,” he said. When he finally told her the truth when he took the anchor, he didn’t want to lie to her anymore, and here he was doing it again, even if it was a dream. “That’s great. I’m always open to new people being here.” It was true, she did. She may be not the best person in expressing herself, but it seems like she’s gotten better. Maybe this husband of hers made her better. He decided to find out.
“I hate to be nosy, but your daughter mentioned your husband healing? What did she mean?” Bloom stared at the ground as they walked. She looked a little sad, but happy at the same time. “My husband tried to do something terrible. He was a good man, until he wasn’t. He was a curse people said. He was the Dread Wolf. A battle happened with me and my army and his,” she said, her voice trembling a bit. He hated this story, but he needed to hear it. This was a dream he believed, but he wanted to hope for a happy ending. Something. Anything.
“In the end, I sacrificed myself to save everyone...and him.” That sentence made Solas’s heart drop. She sacrificed herself for him. The man who was going to murder everyone, the man used her (even if he fell in love with her, he still technically used her right?), and then the man who walked away from her. Why would she? “Why?” He whispered it and didn’t think she heard, but she did. “Well, people always do crazy things when they’re in love,” she said with a laugh. “Then how are you here?” Solas asked her with a bit of awe and curiosity. “I’m not sure. I just...woke up. I felt pain before I died, it went black, I saw someone or something, they spoke to me, and then I woke up as if nothing happened. Even though everything had changed.”
Solas felt a little in awe and curiosity, but he knew it couldn’t happen...right? He didn’t want to entertain the idea and continued walking (they stopped and had that little part about her dying and her husband conversation lol). “Well, that sounds,” he paused trying to explain his feelings, “amazing and interesting.” Bloom laughed. “My husband had the same reaction. He didn’t believe it, but still found it a blessing. But I did a blow to him as well, I saved him while also hurting him. He used a lot of power to do what he was going to do, and maybe he was the one who saved me. No one knows. But he needs time to heal. He comes in and out of sleep, always wanting to see his daughter and wife for a few days before needing more rest. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
Bloom looked truly happy as she talked to him, explaining her husband and her daughter and her life. The little girls name was Lily and her husbands name was Solas. It was him. He honestly couldn’t believe it was with him, there was still a part inside of him that believed she didn’t mean the actual dread wolf or him, but she knew he was the dread wolf. She couldn’t be talking about anyone else. After awhile, the tour was done and Bloom stopped and smiled at him. “Now, you can go see Commander Cullen and see how you can be put to work,” she gave a little slap on the back and one last smile. She walked away and he stood there for a second, afraid to move. A few seconds later he heard Bloom call out to him. “Hey, sir!” He turned and looked at her and saw her smiling.
“Wake up.”
*He would wake up with a jolt as he sat up, struggling to catch his breath. Did he just really see what he thought he saw? He saw her living a life with him. It was his hopes. The future he wanted even if he wanted another. Even if he was going to destroy that future...that Hope was still there. He laughed at the “wake up” part. Of course she would do that, referencing to their first kiss. He felt his heart do a big thump at the memory, and continued to hurt as he remembered memories of her and him together. He didn’t see that ‘dream’ as nothing more than a dream and a hope. And deep down, he hopes it’s true.
No one:
Me: What if some kind of spirits in the fade (maybe spirits/ghosts of his people or just any kind of spirit iDK) could show the future to him. Not just his hopes and dreams he wants, but the actual future. Show him what will happen, even if he doesn’t want to know. He sees it and just believes it’s his dreams because it is his dreams. Nothing more than a hope and dream. Definitely not a future he can ever have. The fade always showed him her dreams, so he never believed this was the future. BUT IT IS!!
Bloom saving the world sacrificing herself and also saving Solas (and my other fic shows the other side of her sacrificing herself...) and dying and somehow coming back to life (I imagined Mythal saving her bht I’m an idiot and don’t know how anything works in this fandom so,,yeah) and having a future with him!! A DAUGHTER!! And he heals eventually (not too long bc Bloom doesn’t live forever like he does. He lives forever right?) and lives with his wife and dAUGHTER AND THE INQUISITION!! Anyways that’s my idea and little AU I guess. I thought of this yesterday bc I saw a post you reblogged about Solas seeing his hope of the inquisitor having a kid together (seeing it in the fade I think) and how the kid has his wolf jaw bone nECKLACEEE!!
I decided for her to not have the necklace bc I was like “hmm. Solas would probably be like ‘yo how you get my necklace??’” And he would figure it out too fast and I was like no. But yh take my kinda sad but also kinda wholesome AU🥺😭.
Sorry if there’s any grammar errors I’m a little tired and don’t wanna read through it 5 more times djwbs.
EDIT: And YES I did make a reference to Meg in Hercules when she sacrificed herself for Hercules and went “People always do crazy things when they’re in love,” AND THAT WAS THE LOVE CONFESSION!! I love that
