This was surprisingly difficult, some of the songs really grew on me just in the two days since I first heard them, so it took a while to really finalise this (and I’m sure it could still change by the actual show itself). I also don’t really have a real number one unlike in the other two selections so far? My entire top 5 is really close, and even the songs below that I still like a lot. It’s such a shame that Latvia ditched the semi-finals because cutting straight to just 8 songs from this selection is harsh. There’s so much variety and interesting songs here, having two semis with 8 songs each first would be so much better. Supernova 2018 was one of the first national selections I properly followed and Madara had my favourite song back then with Esamība (though there were so many good songs then as well). It’s not fair to compare her current entry with that, as I’ve had two years of Esamība on my playlist, but I do feel it’s a much better song. That said, Māras zeme is still good and I really hope she makes the final this time. Overall I really like this selection a lot, I was honestly suprised when I looked at my full rankings and realised how many there were at the bottom that I didn’t like, the ones I like really stood out more and I feel they make the whole selection good. I have no idea who will make the final. I’d love all my top 8 to be there, but Samanta Tīna probably deserves it too, and there are songs further down my ranking that I think might get in. Either way, I’m really excited to see what Latvia winds up choosing!

Lettland: Ergebnisse der ersten "Supernova" Runde

Antra Stafecka schaffte gestern Abend die Qualifikation ins Semifinale.

Riga, Lettland – Bereits gestern Abend fand die erste “Supernova”-Show in Lettland statt. 10 Kandidaten gingen an den Start, vier qualifizierten sich fürs Semifinale.

Offenbar haben wir irgendwas in der Organisation der lettischen “Supernova” Vorausscheidung verpasst: Soweit wir es verstanden haben, sollte die erste Show…
