Now for new Anshiga ref with updates! He didn’t get the cheek fluff (A common trait for Dreameaters) but he has quite a nice ruff of silken fur around his neck and chest and nicely shaped wings.

Khosaan fell asleep, despite his curiosity over the strange new being Erevoss had brought home. It had been a long day and the baby had bounced about all over the place following his adoptive parent around. Erevoss was tired as well, though the constant ache of hunger, and the ever-present pain in his left shoulder made sleep hard. He was also rather worried about the Dreameater. He felt bad taking the bed for himself while the Dreameater sat on the floor at the foot of it, even if he’d turned the offer down. Twice. As he lay there deep in thought with the fuzzy little bundle of baby curled up next to him, he kept hearing Anshiga shift around. “Are you.. sure you don’t want to lay down? I really don’t mind.” Erevoss said, more gruffly than he meant. He really wasn’t used to socializing. He’d been alone for such a long time… “I am … fffine… here.” Anshiga said, his words slow, tired, a bit slurred. His voice was pleasant and nice, even slurred and tired. “Are you sure?” Erevoss shifted a bit to try to relieve pressure on his bad shoulder. “I am sure.” Anshiga answered. He kept licking his jaws, clearly uncomfortable, huddled up under the long, elegant cloak that had been his wings when he first awakened. He was shivering. Silence lapsed once again. Erevoss decided not to push the matter, simply laying his head back down to try to doze back off again. Anshiga, though, suddenly bolted upright and stumbled to his feet. He could hardly walk straight, but he was suddenly bolting for the door. The sudden sounds of that movement brought Erevoss out of his dozing state.
Anshiga didn’t make it to the door. He hunched over beside the wall, claws digging into the wood a bit, midsection heaving as he threw up. The smell of burning wood came next. Fortunately, the tree was living and healthy; the wood too wet to properly catch fire. Erevoss was concerned, though admittedly annoyed. He shook off the irritation quickly enough, though; it wasn’t like Anshiga had thrown up on the wall and floor on purpose. When one was sick, they were sick. The smell of burning and the brief flickers of flame before the fire went out made Erevoss realize why Anshiga had turned down his offer. If he was so sick that that mad dash for the door had failed, he hated to think what that would have done to his bed. Vomit was nasty enough to clean up. Vomit that caught things on fire was even worse! “Are you… alright?” He asked, finally. Anshiga was quiet for a moment. When he spoke, he sounded as miserable as he looked. “I will be.” He said, quietly. “I was… I hibernated longer than I meant. I didn’t… awaken. I consumed all of the flame that had once been in that fallen kingdom, and… I guess I ended up consuming some of my own.” His speech was slow and slurred, but seemed clearer now. Erevoss looked confused. Anshiga still stayed hunched over, head low and posture speaking of pure nauseous misery. “Consuming one’s own flame is… can be, deadly. For a Dreameater. It is… a side effect. Of something that prevents us from just… causing fear and feeding from it. So.. so we do our job, cleansing. Not.. making it worse. It is… lucky you woke me up.. w-when you did…” He was going to say more, but the waves of nausea came to cut him off. Erevoss tilted his head back with antennae tucking back as Anshiga threw up again. The poor thing looked absolutely miserable, head resting against the wood for a moment as he took a few breaths to try to calm himself. “What was…” “You were saying that it was lucky I woke you up.” Erevoss said, trying not to sound annoyed. “I’m really… sorry about this.” Anshiga apologized miserably. “If you hadn’t… come along when you did, I’d likely have been d-dead soon… It’s why I am s-so sick. B-but I think I’ll be… alright.” he kept pausing, clearly trying to hold back more surges of nausea. Erevoss went and got an unused clay pot, setting it beside Anshiga. “Please try to contain it this time.” Erevoss said. “Clay won’t catch fire.” Anshiga took the clay pot, finally moving away from the mess on the floor and natural wall, surrounded by blackened burn marks. Erevoss dumped some water on the spot to put out the embers before they could cause any more problems. “Won’t the problem just… continue?” Erevoss continued. “Mnnn… no. You have Flame about you. It’s enough… for a single Dreameater. I’m able to feed.” Anshiga answered slowly. “Flame…” Erevoss asked, looking confused. “Negative energy. Caused by….. many things. Nightmares, regrets… tragedy, emotional turmoil… pain.” Anshiga answered. “Is that why I’ve felt… calmer?” Erevoss asked. “Yes. It is.” Anshiga said. Maybe having this Dreameater around wouldn’t be a bad thing, Erevoss thought to himself. Even if his tree home now had a scorched spot. “When you’re feeling a little better, you are welcome to join me.” Erevoss said. “It’s more comfortable than the floor.” “I… may take you up on that.” Anshiga finally said. “… But, once I don’t feel like I’m going to throw up again. I don’t want to set your bed ablaze.” “Much appreciated.” Erevoss said, tiredly. “We can talk more when you feel better, because I have a lot of questions for you.” He excused himself to go back to bed, hoping his strange guest would feel better by morning.

Once Anshiga finally feels better and stops throwing up, he takes Erevoss up on his offer and is soon in a real sleep, curled up against the Warbred’s back. When Erevoss wakes up, he feels that solid form against him, so very soothingly warm. The pain from his bad shoulder is dulled by the warmth.. or maybe the presence of the Dreameater. With little Khosa still curled up under the blanket against his chest and Anshiga asleep against his back, the old Vhessen decides to just stay where he is, far too comfortable to move yet.

When Anshiga wakes up, he feels much, much better. The miserable night before was successful in ridding him of all that energy that was making him sick. Erevoss had finally gotten up because Khosaan was hungry. Aside from something small caught in his snare, not much was found. It is just enough to cook a little something for the nymph, but like usual there’s barely any left for him, so he decides to try to hunt. That, too, fails. It isn’t unnoticed by Anshiga, who wants to help where he can. First off, Erevoss saved his life. Second off, Erevoss now had a burned spot in his home and had to put up with him throwing up for most of a night; He feels a thank you, and perhaps an apology, is in order. Hunting is much easier for the Dreameater, due to his wings. Flying from tree to tree, he manages to catch something nicely sized. Erevoss is very, very surprised by this gift, and very thankful. He immediately cooks it, and eats the first good meal he’s had in days, and, of course, gives more to Khosa and shares with Anshiga as well! ((Anshiga is askable! You can find his ref and images here! https://toyhou.se/8658712.anshiga He is currently staying with Erevoss, and has decided to try to help the skinny old Warbred and his adorable little adopted fuzzball!))

Erevoss: I’ve moved around, a bit. But the tree hollow I’ve built my home into has become comfortable and familiar. I am unsure if the Dreameater will be remaining with me or not. I brought him home with me after I... think I woke him up? He’s very out of it, but I’ve managed to get his name; Anshiga. I offered to let him lay on my bed with me, there is enough space even if it might be a little bit of a tight fit. Hhe declined the offer, preferring to sit on the floor. He seems to feel unwell. At least here, he has a place to recover from.. whatever had him asleep for so long.
