Steve thought it was impossible to be taunted by a cake. It wasn’t even whole, just a slice. The rest had been eaten a year ago at the wedding.

The wedding that took place just four months before Corroded Coffin finished their sophomore album, and the last minute track “Honeymoon” took to the alternative radio waves and peaked at number 4. A full six months of rehearsal, contracts, and expedited passports led them here: Eddie on a stage in Canada before the sun went down and Steve, alone in their kitchen on their first anniversary.

The saran wrap had a web of ice around it, mimicking the veil on the plastic cake toppers Steve ordered for the big day. He had bought two, cracked them in half, and burned off his fingerprints when he hot glued to the two grooms together.

Steve knew the cake was melting quickly, so he peeked under the stiff covering just for a moment before putting the slice of cake back in the freezer, not too far in the back that it would get freezer burn, but nowhere near the danger zone of pizzas and chicken nuggets he and his husband still navigated towards when they were drunk.

His husband; who was trying his best not to cry as he slipped his wedding band back on his finger after he came off stage.

Eddie hated taking the thing off, but he didn’t trust himself not to accidentally fling it off while getting taken over by the energy of playing guitar in front of hundreds, even thousands, of people.

Eddie pulled his first diva move, despite the band’s name not being big enough to read on the festival poster without a magnifying glass, and demanded a flight home before 8 pm so he and his husband could feed each other their wedding cake for the second time.

Man 2023 was such a crazy year for AmaTsuka... I'm going to make a vague attempt at tabbing through Cataclysmic events in chronological order

February really kicked off the beginning of the year. First ominously seeing this header Tsukasa and feeling like, no... no... What's this? [brain shriveling up] call girl... phone sex... [REACQUIRES LIQUID] wait, Eros and Anteros?? [camera lens focusing] heart... necklace?

Matching? heart? necklace? hearts weighed on a scale? [crying]

[the event itself starts happening] [we see Amane's design in full and have to process he's some sort of corseted whore] Excuse me-!! Excuse me, sensei-!!!!! What does it mean! Help me!!

We get further information about how these demon brothers are extracting love from people and turning it into jewelry. (Ominously we receive no explanation on what their particular pieces of heart jewelry mean... LIKELY different in nature from the other hearts around them, but in what way? Not like we'll ever find out I guess.)

Like some sick doujin set-up, they're doing a competition where the loser must do what the other says at the end of this.

Deplorable... Reprehensible images. The vibes of this game they are playing with one another... The voting feels rigged anyways, because Amane's more capable of presenting himself appealingly, working everyone over.

This Amane meanwhile makes me laugh, WOOO he's here to stan, adorning purple in honor of Tsukasa's color. Tsukasa here has the big mic, he's our main singer. It's like a world where the twins figured out a hobby to pursue together, they can be obsessed with each other in this way, and blow off steam dancing whoreishly. Well congrats. Also I loev you yashiro. you look like. a cake topper. come to our dressing room after the show ok.

Everyone felt like they had a group hallucination. Why is it AmaTsuka... (It's always been AmaTsuka) (but still) Why is it this degree of it. Don't understand the deflowering vibes from this. Princess and knight. the torn butterfly wings and the flowers. the like evocative feminine orchids and the obscene wet feeling fruits. Tsukasa's sleeves being flower petals as well, he is the delicate feminine flower here. Hands pulling you close. "Searching for a reason to stand by your side." Why did you say that? This is basically the most devastating event for the entire year and it happened so early, we spend the rest of the year still looking back and feeling faint. It's hard to be this valid, you all really cannot fathom, what it really means to be 'canon'... It's a pain I carry. Searching for a reasonnnnnnnnnn.....

Late March / beginning of April, and we are about to embark on our 6-month kitty cat crucible. AmaTsuka is going to become a genuine INTERSPECIES narrative, something I would've guessed blasphemous actually. But I suppose not... in this world, Tsukasa can be a child laborer/animal handler at a circus, and Amane can be his precious black kitten. With a little bell.

Amane runs off with Tsukasa, saving his life... They escape together, and are together still, 50 years later. How romantic. We're at the start, and it's already painful and glorious. Senseiiii!!

You know who is holding that cat tail. We have fun here, we take turns being the kitty. Tsukasa has a matching collar now, after all. :3

It's amazing to get a glimpse into their past, before the rope-burn and injury times. The prelude... Set in such a grim space as this area accessing the clock's inner workings. Captivatingly isolated, enclosed, kinda scary and dank... And we're brushing up against Amane's problem, how he won't say what he wants, won't make a decision. You need to make a decision, Amane...

Back. To the ryokan. Something something, there's a difficult to convey joke in Tsukasa's space, referencing sabi-neko (tortie cats (female cats?)) and also making a pun on 'service'. I get it I get it, Tsukasa is Amane's slave, you don't have to keep telling me...

Everyone gets along surprisingly well.

I say all that but we do get revealed, during this cafe event, that. I guess Hanako is predatory and out here definitely seeming like he wants the guests to eat food to make them tastier and then get eaten. And Nene is also has insatiable lust to consume a human, which is like, upsetting, when you consider Tsukasa is a secret harbored human here. I guess Hanako has no issues with conspiring with his hot co-workers about how delectable humans are, while his 'twin brother' (not really?) (fetish RP?) is locked up in the closet or something. And I guess he does that all day and humps Tsukasa later like mmm my precious little dartyy secret boy.

Bonus thing, there was this insidious meta happening as I watched fujoshi repeatedly visiting the cafes and trying to eat as much scattered sushi and Tsukasa's Milk as possible. while the narrative is about entrapping people and fattening them up for slaughter. IG it felt kind of ghoulish that they couldn't resist the bait of the location and presentation of the meals.

August. Who are they lol? Some more fetish outfits... Amane and his collars, and Tsukasa looking like some little hentai mask girlie. The vibe is like, Amane is a cool super villain, and Tsukasa is there to go kyaaaa ❤

Anyways November has our last couple major beats...

Tsukasa asserting that Amane won't come if he called, never has, alludes to so much. Why were you calling? For what, how long, what convinced you Amane would never? The idea of a Tsukasa that would plead to be saved or helped in any manner is dizzying. Beyond that — does Tsukasa not believe he has implicit value, not something Amane covets...?

(Meanwhile, I have to love that he confides this to Nene, and encourages her to get them out of this situation. Tsukasa had to make his way out of his own entrapment[?] in the past, and he believes Nene can too. They're similar, aren't they? Hehe.)

The pacing of the fall, Tsukasa catching Nene, then the ambiguous line, as if he mouthed Amane's name to himself...

And he shows up, like your hero, I guess.

'何？' ⬅ ??? ??? ?? Atrocious. Could that truly be your response? With that expression? Moody, hands in pockets, acting cool... You do all that and then you throw Tsukasa's handcuffed arms over your neck. Saving your two captive princesses... It's absurd out here. The fujoshi are dying for a reason.... You get sick of inhaling the toxic fumes of twincest miasma.

Naughtyyy shrimpt stealing boy... I can't believe it. Amane! You would steal the shrimps your mom is slaving away at, and hand them to your brother. He's going for more! Tsukasa is innocent and he of course must appreciatively eat your pilfered shrimp... But goodness.

Iet's simple, it's cute, it's a lovely illustration with lovely colors, it depicts another moment from canon we haven't seen (right before photos?) Silly and cute and says a lot about their relationship still! I feel like Tsukasa is often passive like a sweet kitten while Amane is a naughty boy. Wah!

A truly devastating glorious year, I feel so valid, I feel like I'm stuck on my throne, which is also a torture device, I'm strapped to it, there's a horrendous machine stuffing grapes in my mouth, I'm being laughed at, I'm crying. That's what it is like to ship AmaTsuka right now I suppose. HanaNeneTsuka thrums in the background all the while, ominous and foreboding. We get closer and closer to the end goal of all 3....

I know I didn't make a follow up post about Disneyland, but long story short, I survived, and it was incredible. I wish instagram still was connected to tumblr, you would've seen all my updates. If you want to see the pictures I posted, here's my instagram (you have to scroll a little because we celebrated both Easter and Lily's fourth birthday since we've been back) but it was amazing and I've since been suffering from the post-Disney blues more like depression 😭 since we've been home.

Galaxy's Edge was the BOMB and I just had to share my freaking ROGUE SQUADRON HELMET that I didn't even know EXISTED, because I wore my HU rogue squadron tank top (with the hoodie that you can't see) of course on Star Wars Land day (our last day) and it was just too perfect to pass up. It is so cool you guys. I AM SO COOL NOW. I CAN BE ROGUE NINE WHENEVER I WANT. I'M BASICALLY CORRAN HORN NOW!!

The blue milk was delicious! I wish I could've tried the green milk because it's supposedly even better, but it has grapefruit in it (damn you psych meds!!) so that was a bummer, but oh well. The x wing was SO COOL, and so was the Millennium Falcon (again, go to my instagram to see it (am I fishing for likes?! maybe 😉)) and while we couldn't ride the Rise of the Resistance because they don't do single riders, I was an engineer on Smuggler's Run and the group I was with was really welcoming and it was pretty fun! Also, my R2D2 ears were SO cute but SO uncomfortable which was a bummer, I had been wanting them for months and ended up preferring the cheap etsy ones I got me and the girls (you can see them in the instagram pics from the first two days!). But we met R2 while I was wearing the R2 ears, so, you know, that was PRETTY FUCKING COOL 😱

Last but not least, we found these amazing ILYIK spirit jerseys and while I typically am not a fan of the spirit jerseys I just couldn't pass these up. We have ILYIK engraved on our wedding bands, they were on my R2 wedding heels, on our cake topper, and on our third anniversary we painted this which has been above our beds ever since (this fall is our eighth anniversary)(look at us, what babies!):

We did rope drop to fireworks every single park day, with one rest/pool day, and fuck it was exhausting and I was in soo much pain and so exhausted, but it was so damn worth it. SO WORTH IT YOU GUYS. I cried when we left the gates the last night, because it had been soo magical and such an incredible time and I had been so happy and... when am I going to be that happy again?! Fuck if I know. Seriously 😭 hence the post-Disney blues/depression...

It was just amazing. Magical. Everything you could've hoped for. The girls had the best time. I was so stressed out and sure, I forgot ninety percent of my personal hygiene stuff because I had to pack everyone else's shit but hey that's motherhood for you.

Okay, this was supposed to be a Star Wars souvenir appreciation post but it's getting away from me a bit... anyway. I survived Disneyland 2024. I wish I could go back. Someone take me back?!

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Pacific Rim, a fun reminder of the impact it has had on my life:

When @chimericaloutlier and I first messaged each other on a dating app, she had noticed I love Godzilla and she asked me how I felt about Pacific Rim. (Which was less than a year old at that point) When I said that I loved it, she was elated because she also adored the film.

I took that to be a very good sign, and I was right!

Four years later, our wedding cake toppers were Knifehead and Cherno Alpha with the words "Drift Compatible." Obviously, the idea was that we were both piloting Cherno Alpha.

Amusingly, we also got married the very same weekend that Pacific Rim Uprising hit theaters.

When Reggie first proposed, Carrie couldn't wait to start planning their wedding. She had long dreamed of being a bride, and even though she knew the important part was becoming his wife, she was looking forward to the party and ceremony themselves.

Reggie told her he didn't much care about the flowers or decor, and was happy with whatever she wanted, and would help however he could. The one thing he was passionate about however, was the cake.

"I never got cakes that didn't come from the grocery store after we left Georgia," he confessed. "And then no cake at all once I hit my teenaged years, unless the guys bought them. So I want a big honking cake."

"No fondant," Carrie said. "Or naked cakes. But otherwise, you have my permission to go ham with the cake."

Reggie beamed and gave her a sloppy kiss, and was going to go research bakeries then and there, but Carrie informed them they needed to do things like set a date and come up with a guest list and venue first. He grumbled but happily got into the planning with her.

Finally as the date got closer, Reggie was allowed to scour all the LA bake shops to see whose cake would come out on top. He booked them under his name, as neither of them wanted a baker who only did the cake for the clout of baking a cake for the Carrie Wilson, and Reggie's job as a math teacher wasn't quite so high profile.

But she still went to every appointment, though in a dowdy brown wig and heavily made up so that 'Lina' could taste cakes with her fiancé without paparazzi banging down the doors. Such was the life of a pop star she supposed. Also it helped keep their wedding under wraps, as they hadn't exactly publicized their relationship, let alone their engagement and they both wanted to keep it that way.

Honestly Carrie wanted something that was just hers and she wanted that thing to be Reggie.

They tried flavour after flavour of cake, icing, filling, and browsing all the style books. Finally, they decided on a simple four layer cake, enough to feed their small wedding party and save a chunk for their anniversary. Reggie won out and got red velvet for half, but Carrie fought and was victorious in getting pink champagne for the other half. "Our signature colours," she cooed.

The outside was a soft yellow ombre, with bright tiger lillies, hot pink daisies, and sunflowers all over it, the same flowers that made up Carrie's bouquet. And because she did tell Reggie he could go ham, a little Han and Leia figurine for the topper.

The wedding day was a bit of a blur, honestly. Beautiful, but hazy and Carrie was super glad that Ray had volunteered to capture every moment for them with his team. That way she could always look back at her blubbering through Reggie's vows and stumbling over her own, too caught up in Reggie's supernova style.

The reception was also lovely, just a simple potluck with their closest friends in her dad's backyard, a dance floor over the pool with Flynn DJing, the Dirty Candi girls singing their first dance together. Sure, Carrie knew they could afford to hold the most lavish ceremony known to man, but she much preferred this; it was simple and full of the people they cared about, what more did she need?

Cake. She needed cake.

Reggie and her held the knife in their hands, cutting into the rich cake, red cocoa flavoured crumbs falling out as they cut a slice. It looked delicious.

"No smashing it into my face," she warned Reggie. He looked a little downtrodden at that. "It's a waste of cake!"

"We have four layers," he whined.

Carrie grinned, and took her slice, delightfully smooshing it around his mouth. Then taking a delicate nibble of the piece he was holding, too stunned to move. "You're right. And they're delectable. So no wasting it."

Reggie burst out laughing and smashed the rest of her slice into her face regardless, loving how she pouted and then laughed, admitting she deserved it.

Thankfully Kayla was on standby with wet wipes to clean themselves up, and some of Carrie's make up if she needed it.

They passed around the cake, eating their second slices much more sensibly, and danced the rest of the night away, still tasting the cake when they kissed on the floor.

And the third slices proved to be the perfect dessert to cap their wedding night off with.

Carrie sighed as she snuggled into Reggie, eyes drifting close, and pressing a kiss to his heart. "Happy Mrs. Wilson?" he asked.

"Ecstatic Mr. Wilson," she replied.

And Reggie's grin at being called that for the first time-that really took the cake.
