OC Kiss Scene Tag Game
So, I couldn’t actually remember what kiss scenes I’d already written, and I’ve not written anything of substance for a little while again, so I wrote these for this – I’ve done an original story one as well – I hope that’s alright. Thanks for the tag @darknightfrombeyond. This is using my The Devil in Me OC Angelica.
Angelica felt the warmth of Mark pressed against her back, his arms wrapped carefully around her, holding her protectively even though deep down they both knew hiding was futile. Holmes’s hotel had hidden doorways everywhere; vents that could make any closed area a death chamber.
‘Angel,’ he barely breathed, voice so soft she might have missed it if she hadn’t felt his breath on the back of her head. ‘I’m sor –’
‘Don’t,’ she whispered, the word caught on a sob she knew wasn’t helpful right then. Her father would’ve killed her if he thought her mourning him put her in danger.
She felt Mark nod, and gently squeezed his hands.
‘How’re your bloods?’ he asked, an obvious and yet almost welcome change in topic.
‘Haven’t checked,’ she admitted, despite knowing she should have. Without her phone, doing it the old fashioned way fell to her to remember. She couldn’t even rely on the pestering of her Castor, of her father, because neither of them were with her. But so much had happened. Too much, that checking to see if her sugar levels were right felt like something of a minor thing.
‘OK,’ he said softly, releasing his hold on her a little. He pressed a gentle, lingering kiss to the top of her head before pulling away. ‘I’m right here.’
Angelica gulped nervously as she stepped away from his protective warmth and set about getting her testing strips from her bag. The place where he’d kissed her still tingled, and she tried not to think about how much she wanted to kiss him properly, and how scared she was that a kiss shared in a murder house might just seal their fate for the worst if they allowed themselves that brief moment of affection.

From Angels and Gods Story Introduction
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and that was one thing Angelica quickly realised during her latest investigative trip to a replica of the Murder Hotel. The word “replica” should have set alarm bells off in her head, but the excitement of another subject to delve into was too much. Soon, she and the rest of the team find out exactly the lengths some people will go to in the hopes of respecting their heroes. And what exactly she and the people she cares about are willing to do for survival.
Cas had always assumed that protecting the team was one of those easy things Charlie had offered him simply to keep Jelly happy. However, when they arrive on an island claiming to have a replica of the Murder Hotel on it, Castor is correctly worried about the whole thing. He puts it down to the fact the whole thing is creepy; the fact that Jelly never looks out for herself with things. But, as their night takes a turn for the worst, Cas soon learns that perhaps there’s more to his job than he ever could have imagined.

‘Dad?’ Angelica asked, voice no more than a terrified whisper. Her heart hammered against her ribs, and she was pretty sure she could hear the blood pounding in her ears. But she couldn’t tear her attention away from the bedraggled figure slouching slightly in front of them. If she hadn’t have seen him grab hold of Mark, she would have been certain he was merely a ghost.
‘It’s me, Jelly.’
Angelica rushed to her father, dropping Mark’s hand at some point so she could reach him unimpeded. She collided with her dad, burying her head against his shoulder and trying desperately to ignore the vague smell of smoke that lingered on his clothes; it wasn’t the familiar tobacco smell, but rather something far more terrifying.
He gave a weak hiss of pain, and part of her felt bad, wanted to pull away. Her father’s arms wrapped tentatively around her back, holding her closer before she could move, though.
‘I’m here,’ he assured her softly.
‘I thought you died,’ she whispered, part of her still terrified that it was just a hallucination, that he’d disappear when she voiced the truth.
He gave her a squeeze before carefully pulling away from her. There was a wry smile on his face that almost put her worries at ease. He took her hand, clung to it as if it might be the thing that kept them both there.
‘You know it’s gonna take more than that to take me out,’ he said, carefully brushing hair back with his free hand before glancing towards Mark. ‘I’m glad you’re both all right.’
‘What about the others? Cas?’
‘I don’t know,’ her father admitted heavily. ‘But we’re getting out of here. All of us.’
Angelica nodded firmly, really wishing she could totally believe her father’s words this time. But part of her was terrified. Part of her knew it was far easier said than done given everything that had already happened.

Mark was dead. After everything they had survived, everything they’d been through in a single evening, his escape had been cut short ruthlessly. It wasn’t fair, and some part of Angelica’s brain kept rebelling against that truth. She desperately wanted to believe he would join them, a nervous little smile on his face and an apology on his lips. The heartbreak wouldn’t matter so long as he turned up.
But he wouldn’t, she knew that really.
Her father tightened his grip around her middle. He smelt of fire, and a part of her recoiled at the memories it drew forth. But she couldn’t help melting into his comforting hug. He’d survived, despite all odds.
‘I’m sorry, Angel,’ he whispered, pressing a soft kiss to her hairline. ‘We never should’ve come here.’
A quiet rage in her chest agreed with that statement. Yet in her heart she knew it wasn’t that simple. For his company to survive, he’d really had no choice.
‘You couldn’t have known,’ she offered, though the words felt as though they were clawing their way free.
‘I should’ve done something more,’ he said, his breath tickling the top of her head. ‘Guy says he has a murder castle replica?’ He laughed bitterly. ‘Practically spells disaster, right?’
Angelica couldn’t stop herself from nodding as a fresh set of tears burnt up the back of her throat.
‘I’m just grateful you’re safe,’ he murmured, pulling her a little closer.
‘I’m glad you’re safe too, Dad,’ she murmured back, wrapping her arms around his middle. She just hoped they’d all pull through it once the shock and grief had finally given them a moment to breathe.

‘No,’ Charlie said simply, putting his hand on Angelica’s wrist. Cas was, for once, grateful for the older man’s protective nature over his daughter. At least it meant he didn’t have to fight the disembodied voice. ‘She needs her phone.’
‘Dad –’
‘Angel, put your phone back in your pocket.’
With an exaggerated sigh, Angelica put her phone on the seat beside her, and instead picked up her bag. ‘Really, did you forget that test strips are a thing? I thought someone so old would remember things like that.’
‘It’s not the same,’ Cas tried, one of the only times he and Charlie weren’t antagonistic with each other. ‘And you know it, Jelly.’
‘She’s a big girl now,’ drawled Kate, though for once Castor could have sworn there was a trace of concern furrowing her brow. ‘Angelica can look after herself.’
‘Thank you.’ Angelica said, smiling as she picked up the phone, and dropped it into the box. ‘I’ll be fine.’
‘You fucking better be, kid,’ Charlie grumbled, his attention resolutely and angrily focused on the box.
Cas gently patted the bag he’d packed to take with him. The bag he knew had a spare inhaler for Erin, and blood tester strips for Angelica – as well as some emergency Jelly Babies. He just hoped neither thing would be necessary for this specific trip.

NEW YEARS ASK PROMPTS - 🍾
🍾 “I never realized how dangerous champagne could be.”
‘Is this for everyone?’ Angelica asked, lifting the lid to one crate, only to have Cas bat her hand away. She looked up at him sharply. He looked harassed, his hair a mess and his eyes seemed to have bags beneath them. Concern prickled down the back of her neck as she gently caught his wrist before he could rush off to do whatever it was he thought was important now. ‘Did Dad put you up to this?’
‘Who else?’ he asked, attention skimming the other boxes. They were all piled around the office space, taking up more space than their little team ever did. ‘Now –’
‘Nope,’ she said, tightening her grip ever so slightly. ‘What’s in the boxes?’
With a sigh, Cas ran his free hand down his face, as if he might be able to wipe away the exhaustion. ‘Champagne for some party.’
‘This much?’ Angelica asked, finally releasing him so she could fully take in the boxes.
Cas chuckled bitterly. ‘Trying to make a good impression. I’ve already stubbed my toe like six times trying to make sure they’re all in the right places.’
‘I never realised how dangerous champagne could be,’ she said drily.
‘That’s because you can never actually remember nights out,’ Castor teased, moving away before she could swat his arm.
Angelica refrained from even making the gesture, however. Instead, she focused on the way his back was slightly hunched, the obvious signs of exhaustion that she knew her father hadn’t contemplated when he’d given the young man this particular job. All of it outside of his remit, in her eyes. Dangerous was the word for it.
‘So, where do they all have to go?’ she asked, moving to follow him.
She saw the argument bubbling behind his eyes, and the moment he realised that to argue would be futile. She just hoped that an extra pair of hands would make the whole thing that little bit easier for him.
