Buakaw vs. Andy Souwer - K-1 World MAX 2006 World Championship Final
It has been a full 18 years since Buakaw won his 2nd and last K-1 World Max Tournament. More hilariously, it has been a decade since Buakaw last fought in K-1. Back in the finals of 2014 K-1 MAX tournament where he left the ring before hearing the judges' decision. The fight was scored a draw but with Buakaw gone, Enriko Kehl was crowned champion.
Now 42 years old, Buakaw has a shot at winning his 3rd ever K-1 Max tournament. The one night 8 man tournament will go down this Sunday (July 7) with Buakaw set to face off with Stoyan Koprivlenski in the quarterfinal.

You gotta love the...creativity of One Championship's headers, even if it is to promote the Marat Grigorian/Superbon fight. Granted, showing his opponent with an injured knee like that (the great Andy Souwer, a 20+ veteran of kickboxing) is kind of mean, but so is the sport.

ONE FIRST STRIKE: Marat Grigorian on Beating Andy Souwer
Third-ranked featherweight kickboxer and former three-time Glory Kickboxing World Champion Marat Grigorian of Armenia defeated former two-time K-1 Kickboxing Champion Andy Souwer of the Netherlands, winning by technical knockout in the second round. Grigorian barreled forward early, pressuring Souwer with heavy-handed combinations. A left hook from Grigorian sent his opponent to the mat in round one, with Souwer beating the count. Another left hand from Grigorian in round two put Souwer on the seat of his pants. This time, the Dutch legend signaled to the referee that he could no longer continue.

Andy Souwer vs MIke Zambidis - K-1 World MAX 2008 World Championship Final 16
Seeing what an all around disaster the K-1 ReBoot was made me nostalgic for K-1 fights of the past. He we have Iron Mike Zambidis and Andy Souwer facing off in the round of 16 of the 2008 K-1 Max Tournament.

Marat Grigorian, Ritu Phogat Score Explosive Wins At ONE: BIG BANG
Tumblr media
There were plenty of knockdowns and knockouts to justify the ONE: BIG BANG moniker at ONE Championship’s latest event in Singapore on Friday night.
In the main event, three-time Kickboxing World Champion Marat Grigorian came from behind to starch two-time Russian Kickboxing Champion Ivan Kondratev in their ONE Super Series kickboxing featherweight showdown.
The Russian got off to an explosive start, even scoring a knockdown of Grigorian in the first round, but after some adjustments, the Armenian superstar came out strong in the second, where he ultimately finished Kondratev with a liver shot.
In the co-main event, #5-ranked featherweight Garry “The Lion Killer” Tonon went three hard rounds with #3-ranked Koyomi “Moushigo” Matsushima to score a unanimous decision win. That victory kept Tonon undefeated in mixed martial arts, and he immediately called for a World Title shot against newly crowned ONE Featherweight World Champion Thanh Le.
Midway through ONE: BIG BANG, kickboxing legend Andy “Souwer Power” Souwer put on a striking clinic against “Bamboo Sword” Zhang Chunyu in their ONE Super Series kickboxing featherweight clash.
With each round, Souwer kept turning up the volume and accuracy of his shots until he nearly finished Zhang. Surprisingly, Zhang survived the onslaught, but the unanimous decision – unsurprisingly – went to the Dutchman.
In the show’s opener, Indian wrestling icon and adopted Singaporean Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat kept her undefeated streak alive by stopping Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres via TKO in the first round of their atomweight clash.
It was one-way traffic after Phogat landed a takedown of Torres and began working her ground-and-pound strikes. As “The Indian Tigress” reigned down a barrage of punches and elbows, the referee was forced to stop the bout at the 3:55 mark of round one.
Full Results For ONE: BIG BANG
Marat Grigorian defeats Ivan Kondratev via knockout at 1:52 of round two (kickboxing – featherweight)
Garry Tonon defeats Koyomi Matsushima via unanimous decision (mixed martial arts – featherweight)
Murat Aygun defeats Anderson Silva via unanimous decision (kickboxing – light heavyweight)
Andy Souwer defeats Zhang Chunyu via unanimous decision (kickboxing – featherweight)
Bokang Masunyane defeats Rene Catalan via knockout at 0:37 of round one (mixed martial arts – strawweight)
Jihin Radzuan defeats Bi Nguyen by unanimous decision (mixed martial arts – atomweight)
Ritu Phogat defeats Jomary Torres via TKO at 3:55 in round one (mixed martial arts – atomweight)
Next up, ONE Championship hosts ONE: BIG BANG II, a previously recorded event from the Singapore Indoor Stadium that airs Friday, 11 December.
