All ghosts can feed off of emotions, but similar to living animals, which ones they eat differ from ghost to ghost, and can be clumped together into three different categories (that I don’t have names for yet).

Some mainly or can only eat positive emotions. Some are the opposite, mainly or only being able to eat negative emotions. Then there’s those that can feed off of all sorts of emotions.

Danny is the kind that can only eat positive ones, although he mostly doesn’t need to, and simply smells or tastes it in the air. Each one has a unique taste.

One morning, Manny wakes up before Danny for the first time and basically thinks about how much he loves Danny and admired his sleeping face, and after a bit, starts playing with his hair a little. When Danny eventually wakes up, the first thing he notices is the almost overwhelmingly sweet and delicious taste in the air that is Manny’s unconditional love for him and he mistakes the hand on his cheek as a piece of food and almost bites him.

Idea. So ghosts that can eat positive emotions (like Danny) are known as Spirits.

And those who eat negative emotions (Like Spectra) are called Shades.
