Lets say they get a cam in the camps during a gathering or something (how do they react to gatherings btw?), and it survived one whole day before a cat finds it and raises the alarm. What would they see and how do they react?
They would witness a rising sense of alarm washing over the cats. The first cat to see it would probably hiss and run to fetch others, and a large commotion gathers in front of the camera, meowing and growing.
02-F01 pushes through again. He already proved these devices aren't dangerous, but seeing it in camp is too far. The footage only captures his side, and occasionally his biting mouth over the lense. Oh! He was digging it off its spike in the ground! Clever boy-- wait wait what's he doing?
There's a good 10 minutes of shaky footage as the camera is carried, capturing grass and flashes of his running ginger paws. Then, dropped from a great height. A still photo of 02-F01 (Firestar), 02-B01 (Brackenfur), and 02-E01* (Brambleclaw) staring at a falling camera becomes a meme.
The footage is recovered later, at the bottom of the WindClan/ThunderClan gorge. It was busted and unusable, but the footage was recovered. The Team learns a valuable lesson, that they have to be more careful going foward, as their funding is VERY limited and high-quality trail cams were NOT cheap in 2008.
(Brambleclaw is known at the time by an incorrect test number. Later sequencing and study reveals this cat is part of the X-family and his kittens, Sparkpelt and Alderheart, with a molly identified as "Jessy," are recorded correctly.)
