I wrote a drabble based off of that lesbian coming of age book my acquaintance wrote. Sorry to disappoint, it is not about the lesbians.
#It’s focused on the guy in the lesbians friend group who got rejected by his crush (because she’s a lesbian ((she figured that out a chapter#before because she meet this girl at a clothing store)))#And then the guy gets upset(sad not angry) and then he just gets swept under the rug the rest of the book#I think it would be interesting to explore his emotions 🤷♀️#When I say lesbian friend group I mean it#It’s the main girl her gf and the other girl and then also him#And also at the same time main girls mom is trying to ungay her and is getting violent about it#The guy would feel so heart broken but then feel bad about it because he respects that his friend/crush is gay and also that his other#friend is getting all this bad stuff happening to her BECAUSE she’s gay#it would be fun character exploration

Daddy Issues Part 2
Best Friend’s Dad!Miguel x Reader
TW: a lot of angst, a lot of sad, a little bit of fluff, jealousy, smut p in v, oral (m and f receiving) awkward shit between Gabi and you and Miguel.
AN: ok here it is! Part 2 is here and now I can focus on HTTK so here ya go :)
Part 1
Weeks. You’d been avoiding Miguel for weeks.
Every day, you thought about that night. The way he touched you, spoke to you, held you. You had sex before, sure, but that… that was next level. A different world.
That was intimacy.
You cried almost every day. He had tried calling you a few times, but you never answered. The whole event felt too painful and your heart couldn’t take it.
Gabi came over and you told her a story that you had met some guy and he swept you off your feet, but he was controlling and had a temper. She sympathized and held you as you cried and that made everything so much worse. How could you do this to her? Sleep with her dad and lie to her? You had to be the worst friend in the world.
During this time, you had finally moved out of your and Gabi’s apartment, and spent some time back with your dad while looking for a new apartment and getting some auditions.
As you sat on the couch and shoved popcorn in your mouth, your eyes still watered and burned. Some gross love story was on and it made you sad once more, the lingering heaviness in your body coming to the forefront of your mind.
The doorbell could be heard and you got up to answer it, not giving a damn that you were in baggy sweats and a big sweater. Swinging open the door, your eyes froze.
“M-Miguel?” You sputtered, seeing him stand awkwardly at your door. “What are you-“
“Miguel!” Your dad cheered and hugged his friend, pulling him inside past your shocked frame. “We’re having a family night again. You used to love those, hon!” Your dad continued and Gabi stepped inside with her boyfriend. You nodded and followed.
Wonderful.
You moved close to your best friend and sat on the couch, Gabi rubbing your arm comfortingly as she tried to make you feel better. The second Miguel looked at your small frame, face stained with tears and a bit puffy from crying, he hated it. And it wasn’t like you were enjoying it either. All of your emotions started to come up in your throat like nausea.
The guilt you felt about lying to Gabi, the anger you felt towards him making you feel-
How did he make you feel?
Angry. But also… sad. And amazing.
You couldn’t deny the whole experience was almost otherworldly.
You got up abruptly and mumbled a quick “I’ll go make something,” before hurrying into the kitchen.
Miguel moved to follow you before Gabi caught his arm.
“Don’t. She might snap at you.”
Miguel nodded, “that’s ok, she can if she wants to.” And with that, he continued.
You stood, turning on the oven to put in some cookies. You loved baking cookies. They were soft and warm, like a hug. You could really use a hug.
“Mi cielo…” his voice had that same effect as he spoke while you stared ahead at the tray of dough.
“Go away.” Is all you could say without turning into a sobbing mess. His hand found your shoulder and you spun around fast, stepping out of his vicinity. “I said go away.” You repeated and heaved, the upset building in you wildly.
He clenched his jaw, “I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“This is not the time or place to do this, Miguel. My dad and my best friend- your daughter is in the room right next to us. If they hear this, neither of them will forgive us.”
The words coming out of your mouth made your hands tremble and your stomach sick. How could you have let this happen?
You turned your head and moved to check on the cookies. “We need to act like nothing happened.”
“But I-“
“No. Nothing happened.” You repeated and he swallowed the lump in his throat.
“I’d like to talk about this another time, because while you have nothing to say, I do. And I’d like it if you'd hear me out.” His words made your mouth dry as you just sighed and nodded, not able to even answer. Your brain was fried, you felt ambushed. You knew your dad was just trying to cheer you up, but he had made this so much worse for tonight. To sit in a room with two people you lied to and the person your heart aches for the most, yearns to touch and hold and love. But that could never happen. He was best friends dad, he was supposed to be like family.
Once he exited the kitchen, you let a few silent tears fall. The conflict inside of you was roaring like a storm at sea.
You’d finally found an apartment, a place by your dance agency that had a beautiful view of the city. It was absolutely perfect. Cute little kitchen, a master bedroom and a big closet, everything was a dream. You signed those papers and paid everything upfront, having saved a lot from sharing an apartment with Gabi.
Moving in was easy, since you didn’t have a lot of furniture and your dad said he’d help you out. He planned a fun day of helping you move in.
And he invited Miguel and Gabi.
Yay.
As you saw your father standing in your new doorway, your arms swung around his neck. “Thank you, dad.” You couldn’t help but be giddy about it all.
Gabi was behind him, and behind her was… Miguel. You hugged Gabi and gave Miguel a polite smile, mumbling a “hi Mr. O’Hara,” and pulling in Gabi to show her around.
The men started to carry in the big furniture, including the couch your father bought you as a gift and the bedframe you got at an antique shop. You plopped down on the mattress and spread out your arms, staring up at the ceiling. This was the beginning of your true freedom, your independence.
Someone clearing their throat stirred you out of your daze and you leaned up on your elbows to see Miguel. You just huffed. “The boxes are all in the living room.” He said and you nodded, “your dad brought some food and beers, said we should all break in your new place together.”
“Of course he did.” You murmured and bit your lip in frustration, trying not to be so rude. “Fine.”
An hour later and you were still stone cold sober, not having even a sip of a beer and only drinking water. Miguel was still nursing his first beer as Gabi and your dad had already made it to their second.
“So, Miguel!” Your dad smiled, leaning on a knee, “how’s the girlfriend?” Your body stiffened and your eyes stayed trained on the water bottle in your hand.
“Ah, she’s not my girlfriend, it’s not serious.” He went on and you began to drown him out. You didn’t want to hear any of this, you just wanted to be alone in your new apartment.
“Come on, man. Six months and still no title?”
“Six months?” You gapped and everyone turned to you, making you glance around and realize your error. “I-I’m just shocked, is all… that’s a long time to not have some sort of commitment… or loyalty.” Your eyes flickered to his and a slight bit of hurt and anger tinged his features, still trying to play it off as if he was unbothered.
“Like I said, it’s not serious. But it feels nice to be with someone mature…” he leaned back and took a long swig of his beer, eyes never breaking from yours. You tightened the grip on the bottle in your hands and then looked back to your dad.
“Sorry dad, didn’t realize you were the only single person in the room now.” Your smile was normal and sweet to everyone else, as if you were teasing your father, but Miguel saw through it. This was a competition now, a challenge.
“You have a boyfriend?” His voice was meant to sound relaxed, but it was a bit harsh.
“Oh no no, it’s casual. Just hanging out.” You shrugged, “men are really just a distraction right now, ya know? They all just want one thing, and I’m not into the whole ‘multiple women’ vibe. Men who entertain more than one woman at a time are disgusting. Pigs, really.” You went on about this and his mouth found the bottle once more, tipping it back and downing the rest. He immediately moved to pop open another and you smirked.
You, 1. Miguel, 0.
He was quiet the rest of the night, listening to Gabi and your father trade stories as you laughed along and gave snarky comments. When the night was finally over, you wished everyone goodbye and were about to shut the door when a hand stopped you.
“Forgot something.” Miguel’s voice said from the hallway and you found yourself being pushed backwards by him opening the door wider. He closed it behind himself and his eyes glared into yours with fury you recognized once before.
“So, a new guy?” He spit out and you stayed quiet. No words came out and this made him angrier. “What? Nothing else to say? You sure had a hell of a lot to say before, why not now?”
“You’re drunk, Mr. O’Hara-“
“Cut it with the ‘Mr. O’Hara’ bullshit.” He barked and you flinched, “you’re seeing some fuckin twerp now?”
“You have a girlfriend.” You spat back at him and he rolled his eyes.
“She’s not my girlfriend, we’re just-“
“Six months. You’ve been seeing her, taking her to dinner, seducing her for six months. That’s a relationship!” You shouted at him and Miguel’s eyes just fell to the floor. “Just get out, I don’t owe you an explanation. I can see whoever I want, I can fuck around and be a whore if I really wanted to! It’s none of your business!”
“You’re mine, so it’s my business.”
“No I’m not.” You yelled and he grew still. The heavy tension fell on your shoulders and your tears spilled down your cheeks, the breath in your lungs burning from inhaling too hard. The two of you stared at each other for a bit before you whispered, “You and I had sex. That doesn’t mean I’m yours. Not when you were fucking her the whole time.” His eyes dropped to your hands and he just nodded before clicking his tongue.
“You’re right. I’m too drunk for this… congratulations on the new apartment, amorcita.” His tall frame walked to the door and before you could stop him, the door was shut and he was gone.
Days later, and you were still a mopy mess. Everyone noticed your lack of friendly-nature, it was like the sun was gone. A knock on your door made you stir and sit upright. You opened it and saw your father, smiling face and holding a bag of groceries. Your dad stepped in, put everything away, then sat on the couch. You’d been crying before he got there and he saw that, wiping a tear from your cheek.
“You gonna tell me what’s going on?” He asked quietly, like he was trying to soothe a beast. You cried more, surprised that the well still was not dry, and he held your hand. “It was Miguel, wasn’t it?”
Your whole being shuddered and your eyes snapped up to his.
“Yeah, I see how you look at him, how you smile… I might be an old man, but I know my little girl.” He pet your head. “Listen. I’m not going to say I’m happy about this, because I think he’s far too old for you… but you’re a woman, and I know I raised a smart girl. Just always think about if he’s worth possibly losing your friendship with Gabi.” He pecked your forehead as you sniffled, thinking about his words. As he stood up, you grabbed his hand.
“Dad?” Your voice cracks and he looks down to your sad form. “I love you. Thank you.”
You fell back asleep soon after. Sleep was your only safety blanket, your only holy ground. It was the coping mechanism you shouldn’t have, but desperately needed. Sometimes, you’d end up sleeping at your father’s house from not wanting to be so alone.
Time went by so slowly and finally, a phone call woke you out of your deep sleep, answering without noticing the name. “Hello?”
“Can I come over to talk?” Miguel’s voice was full of gentle fear, like he was afraid to scare you away.
“Where are you telling Gabi that you’re going?”
“She’s with her boyfriend. Mi cielo, Please.”
“Fine. I’m at my dad’s tonight. He'll be home in an hour, and I don’t want him here while we talk about this.” You rolled out of bed and moved to the bathroom.
“I’m on my way.” You hung up after he said that and placed your phone face down on the bathroom sink. Staring at your reflection made you realize something…
You looked awful. You got yourself ready as usual, finally washing your face fully and doing some skin care, brushing and flossing your teeth, brushing your hair and pulling it into a ponytail, and finally putting on a summer sun dress.
You looked like yourself again. And it felt good.
The knock at the door was like a calling card for death, it felt like the end and a sinking feeling grew heavy in your stomach. Thank god for waterproof mascara.
Opening the door, you saw him standing there with a single rose in his hands. You stared at the flower before meeting his eyes.
“Why… did you bring that?”
“Because I saw it and it reminded me of you.” His words made your heart flutter, made your head almost dizzy with the happy hormones, but you needed to keep your cool.
“Um. Thank you.” You took the flower carefully and stepped aside so he could come in. “We… need to talk.”
“I know.” He nodded and sat down, spreading his legs a bit and unbeknownst to him, showing off his large size. He watched you sit across from him, crossing your ankles and playing with the flower in your hand as he cleared his voice. “I should apologize.”
“Yes, you should.”
He smiled, your biting and firey personality showing again. There was his girl.
“When your dad called and asked about the shirt, I was surprised. I didn’t think an old man like me could- would ever get that attraction from a young woman again…” he spoke, “you’re everything that a man could love. Everything a man could ever need, but… I’m too old for you, and I don’t want to hurt your friendship with my daughter.”
You nodded along. His eyes followed your movements, as if waiting for a response, but you didn’t give one.
“So?”
“So, if that’s all you had to say, you can leave now.”
“What?” He was shocked. He- he was trying to admit he wanted you but couldn’t have you, and you were just brushing him off?
“You heard me. You might have another date lined up after this, and I wouldn’t want you to keep her waiting.” The rage in your throat was coming out fast, and you might just start yelling at him if he didn’t leave soon. “Spare me the pity party for your age, Miguel. You know that you’re gorgeous, you can get anyone you want. So cut the shit. Who is she?” You barked and he leaned back, surprised.
“What are you talking about?”
“That woman! She made you so hot and bothered on that stupid date that you fucked the first girl you saw afterwards. Is that the woman you’d been seeing? What’s her name?” You bubbled, louder now. His eyes saw something he never thought he would in yours. Jealousy.
“She- she’s a coworker, it was just dinner-“ he mumbled and you laughed. You laughed!
“Just dinner? Do you think I’m stupid? That’s the one you’d been seeing for months, right?”
“Mi corazón, I don’t know what you think happened, but it didn’t-“ and something hit him. He didn’t owe you an explanation about her. But you wanted one.
You shared his feelings.
This was a revelation. You weren't upset because you regretted everything, or were worried about Gabi.
You were upset because you liked him.
Miguel smiled wide and that just stoked the fire inside of you.
“You think this is funny?”
“Hysterical, actually.” He moved forward and grabbed your wrist, yanking you to sit on his lap. “Because she could never be you, amor.” He tilted your chin with his index finger to look up at him. “I’d choose you a thousand times over.”
You were speechless. “You… would?”
“Well, that depends on your relationship with this boy, because if you were single, I’d chose you. I’d ask you on a date.” His words made your face burn with a heavy blush. “So?”
“So that boy… never existed.” You admitted shyly, avoiding his eyes contact as he laughed harder. “Shut up!”
“Go on a date with me.” He repeated and you nodded, then swallowed thickly.
“But… we need to tell Gabi.” You announced and his body stiffened, that familiar fear he felt before creeping in. “She deserves to know what’s going on.” You watched his eyes. “We already crossed a line we can’t erase, she should be aware that we might start seeing each other.” His hand found yours and he sighed, nodding.
The front door opened and your father stepped inside, barely glancing at the two of you as you both froze. As he took his shoes off, he smirked at you two.
“So the talk went well, I see, which means I’m making some rules. Rule number one, no sex in the house.”
“Dad!” You shouted, standing up fast and stepping forward.
“And protection is a must. My little girl isn’t getting pregnant before she can make her dreams come true-“
“Oh my god, stop talking!” You begged and he folded his arms, Miguel standing up behind you.
“He’s right. He’s just doing what any good father would do, mi amor.”
You visibly saw your father cringe. “Rule number two, no lovey-dovey talk in front of me please. That includes pet names.” He smiled, "I'll let you two have a few more minutes, but then I’m watching the game.” He walked to the kitchen, to which you moved to look at Miguel again.
“So. I’ll see you…”
“Tomorrow. We can tell Gabriella tomorrow.” His voice was firm, a man on a mission. Your man on a mission.
You were dressed in her favorite color. Why? Well, since you were about to tell her, essentially, thatyou wanted to fuck her dad, you figured you’d try to score all the points you could get. You’d keep the fact that you did already a secret for now.
As you got to Miguel’s house, your heart pounded in your chest. He wanted you to meet there so her boyfriend didn’t have to be subjected to the innate awkwardness of the situation.
You tugged at your skirt as you stood, finally knocking on the door. It swung open mere seconds after and you came face to face with Miguel. Your heart skipped as he looked at you and smiled.
“You look… wow.” His eyes were so sweet and puppy like, you couldn’t help but laugh. This gargantuan man was so soft for you, and you thrived for every second.
Holding your hand, he spun you to see the back of your outfit too, then pulled your hands to rest on his shoulders and bent down to press a slow kiss to your lips.
Grabbing the backs of your thighs, he lifted you to wrap around his waist and your hands slid into his thick brown hair as you kissed him back. Your back hit the couch and you gasped as his lips connected with your throat.
“Miguel- she’ll be here any minute!” You spoke, trying not to moan as he smirked against your skin, pulling down one strap.
“I’ll make it quick, I promise.” He whispered and moved his hands under your dress skirt, sliding your panties to the side. “Can’t help it, mi cielo, you get me so hard just looking at you in these damn dresses.” His words had you breathless, combined with his fingers prodding your entrance. The unzip of his pants made you practically dizzy, feeling his swollen tip dipping into you a bit. You took in a sharp breath as he groaned, “so wet already,” and pushed into you. The stretch was intense and your body curled into him instinctively from the burn. “Just a few more seconds, I promise.” His forehead leaned against your and you nodded, your hands pulling at his hair and making him want more of you. His mouth began to suck a bruise into the cleavage of your breasts and your head fell backwards as he sunk into you more, finally bottoming out completely. It was surreal, being filled with him, surrounded by his large body, and having all of your senses drowned in him. Your eyes almost crossed from the feeling it brought you and if you’d been more aware, you’d have heard the door open. But you didn’t, and so when he began rocking into you and lifted both your legs over one shoulder, your mouth fell open in blind pleasure. Your name fell from his lips and your nipples were rock hard from the sensation of him brushing his pelvis against your clit.
“Dad?” A feminine voice struck your ears and your eyes snapped open, upside down and staring at Gabriella looking away. Looking up, you realized Miguel was still moving. He didn’t hear her.
“M-Miguel, stop!” You called out and he immediately halted his movements, looking over your face. You pulled your straps onto your shoulders and stared at Gabi’s face, eyes wide with complete shock. Miguel’s eyes followed yours and he finally realized what was happening.
“Mierda…”
An awkward 20 minutes later of Gabriella refusing to come out of her room, she finally let you in and you sat on the bed with her, face still red as a beet and knee bouncing anxiously.
“So. You and my dad.” She said and you looked up with fear and regret.
Gabi, I’m sorry, it just happened-”
“I figured it might.” She trailed off and your mouth hung open. “You always sucked at hiding your feelings, and he was always way too protective of you.” She stared at her shoes, “I just didn’t think it’d actually happen, ya know? Like I knew it could, but I didn’t think it actually would.” Your eyes filled with tears, scared to lose your best friend.
“Gabi… I’ll stop if you’re uncomfortable, we’ll stop-”
“And make you both miserable? No thanks. If there’s anyone I’d want my dad to be with, it’s you.” She sat next to you finally and put a hand on your shoulder. “And same with you. He’s had a little crush on you since your sophomore year of college, always just kinda staring, ya know? I tried to ignore it, but when we went to dinner and you two were dancing… it was just kind of obvious. And I want him to be happy.” Gabriella held your hand and you immediately started crying.
“Gabi-“
“But I’ll hurt you if you hurt him. And same goes for him. If you two do this, neither of you can fuck it up. I mean it!” She gave you a serious look and you nodded, smiling and wiping your eyes.
“I love you so much, Gabi.” You whispered and hugged her tight. She sighed and hugged you back. “Just… please don’t ever make me see that ever again.”
“I’m so sorry, I won’t!” You pulled away and looked at her face.
“And I’m not calling you mom either, so don’t ask.”
“God no don’t do that. I would hate that.”
“Ok.” She looked away. “So… is this why you were avoiding me?”
“Yeah… I couldn’t really face him.”
“Well, try not to think about that anymore, since this is happening now.” She heard a knock at the door and Miguel’s embarrassed form stood in the doorway, guilt on his features.
“You!” Gabriella stood up and threw a pillow at him, to which he caught reflexively.
“I’m sorry! I thought you were going to come back later.” His hands went up defensively and she glared at him, making you laugh.
“I don’t ever want to see that ever again. I don’t want to hear it, I don’t even want to think about it.” She shivered with disgust and you started laughing. Everything felt right.
That was until Miguel's work event, which was a few weeks later. He’d invited you as his date, and you excitedly agreed. Picking out your dress with Gabriella, you pulled out a long gown with a high slit to the leg.
“At least with that one, he won’t rip it.”
“Gabi!” You flicked her arm and she shrugged.
“Isn’t Danielle gonna be there?”
“Who?”
“Danielle, that woman he was seeing before you two started dating?” Gabriella glanced up at you from her phone as you stopped everything you had been doing.
“Oh.” Is all you could fathom. That’s right, she was a coworker. Your hands trembled a bit and Gabriella rested a hand on your shoulder.
“He never talked about her, and all he ever talks about anymore is you. So don’t worry.” You nodded and stared down at the blue dress. You bought that dress.
It’d been a few weeks of you and Miguel being together, practically inseparable. He had you sleeping at his house every other night, refusing to let you leave because ‘driving home would be too dangerous at that time of night.’
You knew he just wanted to hold you all night, to continue the constant overstimulation he loved to push you through. Whispers of ‘you can do it,’ ‘one more for me,’ ‘such a good girl, mi cielo.’ You’d twitch, tears streaming down your cheeks from the burn of your muscles, legs around his shoulders as his face buried into your cunt. His face was wet from how many times you’d already been pushed too far over the edge, finally kissing up your body as he smirked, pushing into you. No matter how many times you’d orgasmed, it would always be a stretch to fit him, your eyes rolling to the back of your head as he chuckled. He loved watching you come undone all over his cock all night long, leaving bite marks on your chest and shoulders, feeling your nails leave angry, red marks across his back. God forbid anyone ever saw you two naked the next morning, they’d think you both got into a war with stray cats. Your favorite was when he was about to come inside of you, and he’d pull your wrist to his lips, kissing you there while he unloaded in you, then dropping his forehead to yours and smiling.
The night of the event, you were pushing your breasts together in the dress. Tugging the fabric to fit perfectly, you stared at yourself in the mirror. The navy blue velvet was snug against your curves, the neckline plunging down the center and the slit high on your thigh. It was long sleeved, balancing how much skin was showing perfectly, and you paired it with silver strappy heels. Bouncy curls falling down your shoulders and elegant, simple makeup, you were the picture of grace and beauty.
Yet, the knot in your stomach made you want to lie and say you couldn’t go, that you were sick, that something came up, that you couldn’t go- anything to stay home and not have to see her.
But it was too late, and a knock at your door made you hyper aware of the time. Grabbing a clutch you’d picked to match the dress, you hurried and opened the door.
“Mi cielo-” His eyes dragged over your form and then back up at you. “Preciosa, por dios.” His voice dropped an octave and you smiled, feeling him pull your hand into his chest and kissing your wrist once more, your favorite feeling. You blushed as he spun you around with him, kissing right below your ear and moving lower and lower…
“I’d ravish you right here and now if we weren’t going to be late.”
“I think I’d rather have you take this off of me.” You answered and he pulled away a little, checking your expression.
“Por que?”
“I just- I’m nervous.” You avoided his eyes.
“I’ll be by your side the whole time, I promise.” He spoke softly and you nodded, biting the inside of your cheek. That wasn’t the problem.
Arriving, you couldn’t help but stare at the beautiful decor and elegant architecture of the chosen establishment. It felt like something from a movie, and you felt eyes on you. Turning, you saw Miguel staring at you with a wide grin on his lips, just watching you as you gawked at the interior. His hand slipped into yours and you smiled up at him.
“Let’s find our seats, amorcita.” He whispered and kissed your temple, escorting you to the table in the front of the room. You both went to get drinks and he began to mingle, introducing you to many people you couldn’t remember the names of.
A pair of heels clacking from behind you made you turn a bit and there she was.
That woman.
You made eye contact with her and she refused to look away, practically glaring into your soul.
“Y-You must be Danielle.” You reached out to shake her hand, and she obliged, looking you up and down in judgment. Everything about this introduction made you want to crawl under a rock. She hated you and you would too if someone stole Miguel from you. You originally did, actually.
“Yes, and you’re the little brat who stormed out of his house, right? The one his daughter’s age?” She answered and your stomach dropped. Shit. She tilted her head and gave you a condescending smirk. “Not much to look at, are you? But I guess sometimes a man wants someone who can make him feel young and alive again. That’s a phase, and he’ll get over it-”
Miguel’s arm wrapped around your waist as he walked up to you two and he stared down at Danielle, making her suddenly stop talking and start playing nice in front of him. Your body was shaking a bit, thinking about what she’d said.
“Miguel, nice to see you.” She smiled up at him, bright red lips showing off her white teeth, and you immediately felt inferior. This was a grown woman, an adult who’d worked her way to her position, with degrees in science and more. She was on par with Miguel, and you were just a wannabe dancer.
“I wish I could say the same, Danielle.” His somewhat rude answer made you gawk up at him.
“M-Miguel-” You stuttered, and he continued.
“This is my girlfriend, and I’d appreciate it if you didn’t make her uncomfortable just because you and I have a brief history.” This was too much for you. He was protecting your honor, standing up for you, but you felt pain in your chest from the anxiety. You thought you might pass out then and there. Pulling your hand from his, you rushed to find a quiet place alone. Moving to a hallway separate from everything else, you pushed open a door and sat at a chair and table. The lights were out and you heaved in a long, much-needed breath. A presence could be felt behind you near the door and you slumped your shoulders.
“I just needed a minute, I’m sorry if I embarrassed you.” You apologized and his hands on your shoulders made you feel even worse.
“Amorcita, you have nothing to apologize for. She shouldn’t have been so rude.” He whispered, pulling your hand to stand up. “Let me show you that she was wrong.”
His lips trail down your shoulder and he begins to unzip your dress. Your breath stutters and you glance to the door.
“Did you lock the door?” You ask, panting already from how hot his kisses get you.
“It doesn’t lock, so we have to be quiet.” The dress begins to fall from your arms and you gasp as the cold air against your chest, feeling his hands hold your sides and push the fabric to fall to the floor. He trails one of his hands to touch your clit and he smirks. “No panties? Sucia…” Your head falls backwards onto his shoulder as you grab his arm and he kisses into your hair. “Come on, preciosa, just focus on me.” His words send a shiver down your spine, fingers rubbing in circles as you see stars. Sliding down further, his finger enters you and he growls. “Dripping already, perfect for me.”
You moan and his other hand wraps around your mouth. “Quiet, besita.” You nod and writhe against his hand as he continues plunging his finger inside of you. The curl opf his digit makes you see white behind your eyelids and you feel everything inside of you explode, unexpected and fast. He takes his finger out of you and licks it, unzipping his pants and pulling himself out. He tugs his slacks down a bit and bends you over the dining table, hand sliding up your back and tangling into the hair at the base of your neck. Sliding into you, he puts his other hand onto the front of your belly and thrusts hard. The bulge moves into his hand and his head drops a bit, feeling himself through your stomach making him even more wild for you. Your body was perfect for him, the best thing that had happened to him in a long time, and he couldn’t be more grateful. He wanted to show you that gratitude and so he’d pleasure your body until you understood what you meant to him.
Your gasps and quiet begs made him continue to slowly thrust and rut into your heat. It was sensual and rough, without being too fast, and this made you practically melt in his hands. Your coil was tightening within the seconds and the pull you felt against your scalp as he pulled your back into his chest, now fucking up into you from behind harder. The new angle made you snap, making your mouth drop open and heave in a loud, muffled shriek. You couldn’t help it, he was always so good at maneuvering your body. Your entire being trembled and he pulled out of you, which made you push him backward. He stumbled into the wall behind him and you got on your knees, tongue out and immediately sucking around him. His hot length in your lips was absolutely heavenly, and seeing as you two hadn’t done this before, he was watching you with wild, eager eyes. The view of you on your knees between your legs, his cock in your mouth, and you slurping him like a woman possessed made him practically insane. Miguel couldn’t take much more, and when he felt the tip of his dick hit that back of your throat, that was his last straw. He came hard down your throat and you gagged on the thick spurts, but not once did you cough or spit. You drank it up, licking your lips and never breaking eye contact once.
He was frozen, shocked. His precious girl, his angel… his innocent woman was everything he dreamed of and more. He’d been holding back and staying on the more gentle side, but now? Oh, now you’d opened a door that he didn’t ever want to close.
Standing up once more, completely naked, you bat your eyes to him and he pulled you against him, kissing you feverishly. After a moment more of hard, rough kisses, you panted and pulled away.
“We have to go back out there.” You whispered and he huffed.
“What if I don’t want to?”
“You’re giving a speech, Miguel, you have to go back out there.” You insisted. His hands gripped you with no intent of letting go, but you were able to pry him off of you. Picking up your dress, you wiggle it back on and properly placed, but the marks on your body and the makeup on his face was hard to miss. He tucked himself back into his pants and groaned, trying to pull himself together. You both worked to make yourselves presentable in silence and finally turned back to each other.
He watched you smile a bit and reach for his hand, and he knew she was wrong. This wasn’t a phase. He loved you. He would keep you forever and there was no possible way he’d ever think of anyone else ever again.
Going back out to the party, you both stood by the bar and you excused yourself, walking to the ladies room while he waited for your drinks. You stood in the mirror and stared at your reflection. Your hair was a mess now, and your lipstick was smudged, as well as a few black mascara marks from tearing up while gagging on his cock. You couldn’t help but smile at this, until you saw Danielle behind you. Turning to her, a fear struck you but immediately dissipated as you smirked.
“What’s that look for?” She questioned and you couldn’t help but laugh,
“Just thinking about how unsatisfied he must have been if you couldn’t keep him.” You stared directly into her eyes. “I was planning on being the bigger person, but after having sex with him just now, I think I’ll say fuck that and give you my honest opinion. You’re a miserable, boring bitch. Have a great dinner and I hope you find someone as vanilla and mundane as you.” Your words were like knives being thrown and each one landed with precision and grace. You weren’t one to back down and you wouldn’t start now. Walking out of the bathroom, you turned back to say one last thing.
“And you should know, Miguel never even mentioned you.” You winked as her mouth dropped, leaving without another word. Finding your wonderful boyfriend again, he handed you the drink you had ordered and you bit your lip.
“What’s that look for?”
“I may have said a few things to Danielle just now.”
Miguel blinked with surprise and just laughed. “That’s my fiesty girl.” He said and sipped his drink, slipping his hand around your waist again.
The night went by beautifully after that, talking and laughing with his friends and hearing his speech. You two had left with smiles on both of your faces, and that night, Miguel proved over and over how much he cared for you.
And he continued to prove it every day for the rest of your lives.

||Be With Me, Stay With Me||
ꨄ Hwoarang x (fem) Reader ꨄ
Summary: Hwoarang didn't like the idea of you marrying the man whom you barely even know. Your family arranged a marriage for you and you’ve been forced to deal with it. You didn’t have a choice. Even though you already have that special someone in your heart…
⚠︎TW: SIGNS OF BRUISES AND MENTIONS OF ABUSE⚠︎
❦ dividers by : @saradika-graphics ❦
After Hwoarang was finally done with the match, he walked over to the breakroom and spotted you sitting down so serenely on the bench waiting for him patiently. “Hello there, you little bookworm.” Hwoarang opened his muscular arms wide open for you as you rushed over and swung your arms to hug him, “Hello, you cocky bastard.”
“Enjoy the match?” Hwoarang curved a flirtatious smirk across his face when he asked you. You giggled, gently pulling away from him. “You did amazing out there. I knew you were going to kick his ass out there anyway. You pinched his cheeks. Hwoarang chuckled, putting your hands away from his charming face, “Of course I did! Because I’m awesome! I’m one of the greatest fighters ever!” Hwoarang boasted, jerking his thumb towards himself.
You rolled your eyes at his intolerable behaviour. Always loves to boast about how strong he is and such things like that. It’s what you love about him. He’s a very good fighter with a strong heart. Hwoarang may not seem like it but he truly does have a good heart. “You know…” Hwoarang began to speak, scratching the back of his head with a little smile, “I’m actually quite glad that you’re here because I got something to tell you.”
You twiddled with your thumbs nervously, “Well, I got something to tell you too…” looking down with your head lowered as your face saddened, you looked up to him and told him with a lot of regret weighing heavily on you, “I’m getting married…”
Hwoarang’s face darkened, “To who?” his voice sounded more angry and somehow upset. He didn't show it but you could tell by his tone. “My family arranged a marriage for me and I had no choice but to accept it. His name is John and he’s from a wealthy family…just like me.” You had a lot of regret in your heavy heart for telling him this news.
His eyes moved to the sight where he spotted bruises at the sides of your neck which alarmed him. Hwoarang inches in closer and grasps your shoulders in anger showing a hint of worry, “(Name)?! Did this ‘John’ guy do this to you?!” He fumed, demanding to know if it was him or not. It was that bastard John, he slapped and strangled you not so long ago. Causing bruises to show on your neck. You couldn’t tell Hwoarang about it.
You pulled away and tried to hide it, “I-it’s nothing!” using your hair to shield the bruises on your neck even though it didn’t help much.
“Don’t bullshit me, (Name), don’t you dare fucking lie to me.” His voice was fueling up with more anger. No point of lying straight to his scowling face. “I’m okay though. I’m fine.” As much as you want to admit it, you’re not fucking fine. You just got physically abused by your fiance, made you cry your heart out as he hurt you so badly. Hwoarang was growing sick and tired of your lies, “Where is this bastard? I’m going to fucking kill him..” he growled, threatening to beat the shit out of that man for hurting you.
“Hwoarang, please…”
A silence swept in between you two, with a sad-angry gaze locking onto each other. Your heart began to get heavy, drowned in so much regret. You never wanted this to happen but it just did. Your family mentally abused you and said they would kick you out of the family if you don’t agree to marry John.
“....Don’t marry him, (Name)..” Hwoarang said, not wanting you to marry that heartless prick. He doesn’t want you to be that bastard’s wife. He won’t allow it but what choice do you have anyway?
“I have to do this…” you added, your voice shaking, “Otherwise my family will kick me out of their lives…” Hwoarang never realized you were going through this and he wondered how long you’ve been engaged to that man. His heart felt a sting of pain, killing him slowly. He was hurt and visibly upset by this, he tried so hard not to show it.
How come you never told Hwoarang about this when you got engaged to the man you barely even know? Is it because you’re afraid he will leave you?
“There is no room for that evil, wicked man in my heart and he will never have my heart because there is already someone who has it. Someone who deserves my whole heart..” You were referring to Hwoarang, the man who you truly care about the most. Your eyes moved to look at him with a sad smile. Hwoarang became trapped in your gaze, his heart beating as you basically confessed to him. It was quite surprising coming from you because he wanted to be the first one to tell you. Hwoarang couldn’t find the courage to, he never experienced romance in his life and even thought he never needed anyone. Until he met you…
“(Name)..” Hworang walked up to you, his hand cupping the side of your face. The way he said your name in such a heartwarming, uplifting way just caused all the feelings to appear in your heart. Feeling its warmth inside you, coming from Hwoarang as he kissed you for the first time. You shed a few tears with Hwoarang hugging you close to him, your head buried into his chest.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to tell you, (Name)..” Hwoarang tightened the hug, not too tight since he might crush you with his muscular arms. “Oh Hwoarang…you know I will always choose you.”
“(Name), please don’t marry that man…”
Be with me, stay with me..
The words that he should have said to her..
To convince her to be with him…
Vanished like dust…
“Hwoarang, we can’t be together…I can’t..”
Hwoarang growled and pulled away from you in frustration, no longer looking you in the eye. If you weren’t forced to marry that man by your parents, you and Hwoarang would be together. You know that it will never happen…
It was nothing for you two to say, Hwoarang was hurting and he wished that this didn’t happen. You marrying the man whom you barely knew crushed his heart into pieces. It crushed him. You bid a silent farewell to him, believing it would be the last time you will ever see him. You cried your way out of the break room, exiting the arena with your bruised-sore hands covering your crying eyes.
On the other hand, Hwoarang didn’t move a muscle. He just stood here, visibly hurting inside. He didn’t even bother to run to get you. The whole silence broke when he let his anger burst into flames, causing him to punch the wall aggressively with such rage and heartbreak, leaving a smashed mark. His knuckles bleed when he threw a hard punch towards the wall, he seemed to be unbothered by it. Not giving a single fuck about his knuckles bleeding.
The only thing he cares about right now is thinking of a way to save you from that forced marriage…
➽───────────────❥
The Wedding Day
➽───────────────❥
The maids threw the wedding dress on you as you looked deeply in the mirror with a depressing face. Wishing you could tore the dress to shreds. “Oh, don’t you look lovely, Miss (L/n)?” one of the maids said, fixing the lower part at the bottom of the dress. You didn’t respond to her because you weren’t in a mood to talk. You squeezed the bouquet in your hand in anger and held back the tears. You were thinking about Hwoarang.
As the maids left you alone for a moment to tend to your parents, you sobbed in silence and lowered your head to the floor. You gasped in shock and held your head up as you heard something…
“You little punk!”
“Somebody stop him!”
The security guards were shouting at someone down in the hallway outside your room. You began to wonder what the commotion was about. You were about to swing open the door when that certain person you know kicked down the doors.
“Hwoarang?!” you dropped your bouquet to the floor and rushed over to him, utterly shocked by his arrival.
He winked, “In the flesh!” grabbing your wrist, Hwoarang rapidly slipped you out of the room and looked both ways in the hallway, seeing if there were any more security coming up. “Hwoarang! What are you doing here?!”
“Isn’t it obvious?! I came here to save you from this mess and another reason; I don’t want you to marry that fucking bastard!” Hwoarang yelled, he wasn’t actually angry towards you. He was angry at the fact that you nearly married this man by force.
Hwoarang was about to go to the left side until all the security surrounded him along with your parents appearing at the scene. “(Name)! Think about what you’re doing!” Your father pushed some of the security out of his way, his face twisted furiously when Hwoarang appeared in his sight, “You! How dare you barge in here and try to take my daughter away from me?!”
His wife jerked her hand, motioning you to come over to their side, “(Name)! Step away from that man and come over here this instant!”
You shake your head, holding Hwoarang’s hand tightly, “No, I won’t. I had enough of you and father lecturing me for one fucking day! Telling me what to do and not what to do when this is my fucking life!” Hwoarang felt glad that you had the courage to stand up against your parents. Somehow, he knew that you had it in you.
“You dare to speak to us this way?! You live under our roof, you ungrateful wench!”
“...Not anymore..”
Hwoarang smirked, noticing the window was fully opened in your room. You shrieked when he carried you bridal style in his muscular arms, “Well Mrs (M/n) and Mr (F/n), it was nice seeing you! Say goodbye to your daughter as I will be taking her from you!” He rushed into the room with you in his arms jumping out of the window, landing on his feet as he hit the ground.
‘Oh my fucking god, he’s quite a strong man..’ you were stunned by his landing. Bloody well, this guy is built different. Hwoarang put you down as you two rushed to his motorcycle. “Let’s get the hell out of here!” He hopped on his vehicle, starting the engine. Before you could get on, you lifted up your dress, grasping it tightly as you jumped on, wrapping your arms around Hwoarang’s waist.
“Alright, let’s go!” Hwoarang turned his bike towards the exit gate and drove away from the mansion with (Y/n)’s parents coming out as one of them shouted, “(Name)!”
Your father urged the security to come and get you, they hopped in the cars and drove off to chase after you. All didn’t work out until they lost track of you. Hwoarang managed to get away from them by trapping them in road work that was happening on the other side. They simply have no idea where Hwoarang lives, which is a relief.
Hwoarang stopped his bike in his unopened garage, jumping out of his vehicle as he pulled down the huge door. You grunted, getting off his motorbike and stretching your back, “Finally, I can stand up again..”
“What? Did you not find that fun?” Hwoarang asked, walking up to you with a bitter smirk. You let out a laugh towards his question, “Not going to lie but that was fun..” looking down at your wedding dress that got filth at the bottom but you don’t seem to give a shit about it.
“Live with me, (Name)..”
“Wait what?” he’s offering you to live with him since you had nowhere else to go. You didn’t know what to say. “Bloody hell, I wasn’t really asking, you know? Besides…” Hwoarang pulled you to him to give you a kiss attack on the lips, smirking “You’re stuck with me for the rest of your life.”
You choked in a little laughter, “I guess I am..”
Hwoarang grinned, picking you up as you laughed once more. He made the door creak by kicking it wide open, revealing the messy living room. You couldn’t believe this man you’re in love never once tidied up the place. He noticed this funny ‘i am disgusted by you’ look on your face, “Yeah…sorry about the mess..”
You giggled at his apology, “Don’t worry about it, you silly cocky goof.” He chuckled and pressed his lips down on your forehead, escorting you to his bedroom which appeared to be a little messier compared to the living room.
He threw you gently on the bed and crawled on top of you, touching his lips against yours. You moaned through the kiss, tenderly wrapping your arms around him. “I’ve been waiting for a long time for this, (Name)..”
You kissed the side of his face and smiled, your forehead pressing against his, “Honestly, same here..”
“I’m glad you didn’t marry that bastard..”
“And I’m glad you came to save me..”
Hwoarang created a trail of kisses starting from the neck to your chest, your body tensed up in excitement by the touch of his lips. “You know, Hwoarang..” You held his head and smooched the top of it, “My life will never be better without you…”
He cuddled up next to you on the bed, holding your hand and kissed the back of it before he set his loving gaze on you, “And I am never going to live without you, (Name). You’re really the person I want to be with. Damn, you changed my whole heart somehow.”
You moved your head to lean on his shoulder and said, “And you changed mine..”

I absolutely love your fics!!! Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. If you're interested, do you think you could write a fic where Finn gets injured in a game against Tampa? O'Hara brothers ftw ♥️♥️♥️
Ohohohoho yes. It's 'missing your big brother so you write siblings' hours, and all of you are trapped in here with me. Combined with prompts for cubs hurt comfort/ poly love (@hi-im-phoenix) and distraction hurt/ comfort for AJ. Sorry about your manager <3 SW credit goes to @lumosinlove!
TW for bone inJuries
The crowd was roaring. Finn couldn’t catch his breath. His arm was on fire.
Something like a sob broke free in his chest, but he could do little more than hiccup in pain and fear from his place laying flat on his back atop the unforgiving ice. He couldn’t move his fingers. His elbow throbbed. Everything in between just hurt.
“—fuck is wrong with you?” an angry voice shouted, followed by a flash of blue and white shoving at the man whose late hit had left him suspended in shock. Finn didn’t know if it had been on purpose, but he didn’t really care anymore as a tear tracked down to his ear. He couldn’t pull his eyes away from the bright lights overhead.
A hand cradled one side of his jaw, warm and clammy on his cold skin. “Talk to me, mon amour, what’s wrong?”
“Lo,” he croaked, swallowing hard. “I’m okay. ‘m okay, promise. I’m okay.”
“Out of my way!” The blue and white blob pushed closer before kneeling next to him. A helmet hit the ice, followed by a glove; heavy hands settled on his shoulders, and the one on his face disappeared. “Finn? Finn, look at me.”
Finn’s chest hitched once, twice, hard. His head was pounding, and everything hurt. He may have been able to reassure Logan, but he had never been able to hide from his brother. “Alex.”
“Hey, buddy,” he soothed as Finn finally regained enough breath to gasp around his tears. “No, no, shhh. You’re gonna be just fine, yeah? Can you tell me what happened?”
“Hurts,” he choked out, squeezing his eyes shut. The pain had reached his shoulder and every movement was agony. “It hurts, it hurts—Alex, it hurts.”
“What hurts?”
He could hear people calling for medics. His friends, his family. But Alex stayed right there next to him, holding his good hand and brushing his tears away. “My arm,” Finn said, feeling as pathetic as he ever had. “Alex, it hurts so bad.”
“Can you wiggle your fingers for me?” Finn sobbed again as he shook his head and saw the encouraging smile slide of Alex’s face. “That’s alright, buddy, just take some deep breaths.”
“I don’t wanna be out,” Finn blubbered. “I gotta play.”
Alex gave his hand a light squeeze. “It’s not that bad, Fish. Deep breaths.”
He managed a handful—and admittedly felt a little better—but the alarms in his head were still blaring when Remus arrived with the medic, all but carrying him across the ice to get to Finn. He had a smudge of a bruise beneath his eye, but the worry creasing his brow overtook anything else. “I’m good, Loops,” Finn panted as the medic sat next to him. “Totally cool.”
“28, I’m going to need you to make some room,” the medic ordered. Fear spiked in Finn’s heart when he met Alex’s gaze, but he found only determination looking back.
“I’m not leaving,” Alex said simply.
The medic glanced down. “Can you stand?”
“I think so?” Finn said hesitantly, trying to get cool air back into his lungs. “It’s—I think I broke my arm. Everything else is okay.”
“What’s your pain level?”
“Eight. And a half,” he added. Alex frowned.
“Let’s get you off this ice, yeah?” The medic patted him gently on the shoulder. “O’Hara, can you get him up?”
“Keep that one close,” Alex murmured, sliding his arm under Finn’s shoulders. He clenched his teeth around a cry of pain as his bad arm was jostled, but Alex was strong and steady, and within a few seconds he was on his feet. “Easy does it, bud. I’ve got you.”
“Fucking shit,” Finn wheezed as he tried to close his hand. The fear and adrenaline had faded, but involuntary tears sprang to his eyes anyway. Alex held him upright without faltering despite his wobbly legs; they made it to the bench in a blur of movement that made Finn dizzy.
“We can take him from here,” the medic said to Alex.
“I’ll be fine,” Finn said, cutting him off just as he opened his mouth. “Go play. Your boys need you.”
Alex pressed his lips together in obvious frustration, but tapped their helmets together and skated back to his own bench. Finn let out a shaky breath and closed his eyes for a moment. “O’Hara?”
“I’m good,” he assured the medic.
“If you feel like you need to throw up, let me know.”
“No. No, I’m good. Just hurts.”
He caught a glimpse of the clock as they headed down the tunnel—ten minutes left in the period. Finn steeled himself for a long stretch of being alone in a medical room and tried to focus on something over than the unbearable heat and throbbing in his arm.
--------------
Leo traced the edge of the splint with a deep-set frown, but said nothing. His other thumb ran in gentle lines up and down Finn’s waist, kept there by Logan’s side pressing close. “You’re sure you’re alright?” Logan asked softly as he placed a kiss on the corner of Finn’s mouth.
“I promise.” They had barely traded ten words—both had shown up the second the game ended, stripping off their pads and skates in the entrance to the medical room before sandwiching Finn between them. Leo had been unusually quiet. They had won the game; from what Finn saw on the television in the corner of the room, Alex had reamed out the guy that hit Finn with a vengeance. Tampa had been disjointed, and the Lions swept in as a cohesive pack, out for blood.
“I was worried about you,” Leo said at last, resting his temple on Finn’s shoulder. He sighed, then shifted impossibly closer. “Couldn’t get through the crowd.”
“I thought Talker and Loops were gonna kill that guy after he hit you,” Logan said with a shake of his head. “Looks like Alex did it for him.”
“What, you didn’t get into your shining armor for me?” Finn teased, nuzzling his nose against Logan’s cheek to draw even a slight smile from him.
“Maybe next time.”
“No,” Leo mumbled, linking his fingers with Finn’s purple ones and lifting them to his lips for a brief kiss. It was a clean break, but would still take weeks to heal. Big blue eyes landed on him, melting his heart like they always did. “No ‘next times’, okay?”
“Aw, Knutty,” Finn said, barely above a whisper. He wrapped one arm around each of them and held them tight, soaking in the feeling of having both crushed against him. “I’m sorry I worried you.”
Logan tucked his face into Finn’s neck. “Nothing to be sorry for, mon rouge. We’re just glad you’re alright.”
“Sorry to interrupt,” a voice said from the door. Alex shifted his weight back and forth, twisting his baseball cap in his hands like he always did when he was nervous. Finn didn’t hesitate before extracting himself from the cuddle pile and crossing the room; Alex met him halfway and engulfed him in a hug. A shudder ran through him under Finn’s palms. “Jesus, Finn, you scared the hell out of me.”
“Sorry,” Finn mumbled into his hoodie, letting himself be cocooned by distilled safety. Even out of his skates, Alex had a good two inches on him, and he had always been the broader of the two—Finn suddenly felt about six years old, as if he had just skinned his knee on the sidewalk.
“What’s the diagnosis?”
“Closed break, clean fracture. I’ll be out for a month or two.” He stepped back and swiped a hand under his nose, then tilted his head toward Leo and Logan with a wry smile. “But I’ve got these two to look after me.”
Alex scanned his face for a moment; his mouth dipped on one side. “I called mom and dad, told ‘em you’re okay. You should tell them yourself, though. They were freaking out.”
“I will,” Finn promised.
The worry creasing his brow didn’t diminish as he wrapped Finn in his arms again, holding him tight. “Keep me updated, yeah? If I don’t hear from you, I’ll get the captain on your ass, and he won’t be as nice about it as I will.”
“Deal.”
“Knutty, Lo, drive safe. If he tries to pull some stupid shit, I’m counting on your survival skills to stop it.”
“Survival skills?” Leo half-laughed.
Alex pulled away and raised his eyebrows. “They don’t call me Hurricane O’Hara for nothing.”
His eyes flickered back to Finn, who was horrified to see slight redness around the rims despite the teasing in his voice. “Alex,” he said softly. “I’m okay, I swear.”
“I know.” His voice was gruff, but it poorly hid a sniffle as he bumped their foreheads together. “But I’m your brother. It’s my job to worry about you. I hate that one of my guys was at fault here.”
Finn tried for a smile, socking him on the arm. “Six weeks, and I’ll be good as new.”
“I’ll hold you to that.” With a final survey of his face and a kiss to the top of his head, Alex headed back out into the hall with his shoulders up near his ears. Finn sighed; he hated it when Alex was upset, and even more when there was nothing he could do to fix it except wait. He didn’t know what he’d do if one of his teammates broke his brother.
“Fish?” Leo was smiling when he turned around. “I’ve got a surprise for you.”
“What kind?”
“The kind where I pull out all the sob story pity points on Cap’s soft heart and get us babysitting privileges for his incredibly fluffy dog after three months of constant begging.”
Finn’s eyes widened. “You’re kidding.”
“Make sure you look extra sad when we leave,” Logan advised. “We can’t lose this opportunity because you were too perky about a broken arm.”
“Quick, someone make me cry.”
Leo’s grin turned to horror. “What?”
“No!” Logan said at the same time.
“You guys are killing me here,” Finn groaned. “Just, like, hit me in the arm or something.”
“No!” they shouted in unison.
“You said I need to look sad!”
“I meant pout and sigh!” Logan pulled him over by the hem of his shirt in clear distress. “You’ve already cried too much tonight. No more.”
“Alright,” Finn agreed, already wracking his brain for any smidgen of drama skills he might have acquired over the years. Younger siblings were always the best actors, of course—he had given some Oscar-worthy performances to his mom when Alex got on his nerves as a kid—but Sirius was tough to fool. Maybe if he stayed quiet and didn’t risk opening his mouth they would get away with it.
Leo let out a slow exhale against his chest and snuggled closer before standing. “Come on, darlin,” he said with a kiss to Finn’s forehead. “Let’s get you settled. We’ll take a shower, have some dinner, and then we can put a movie on.”
“Mighty Ducks?” Finn asked hopefully.
Logan rolled his eyes. “Of course.”

One Night🌙10
Warnings: noncon sexual acts, angry Andy, hormones
This is dark!Andy Barber and explicit. Your media consumption is your own responsibility. Warnings have been given. DO NOT PROCEED if these matters upset you.
Summary: One night changes your entire life.
for @kittykatlow‘s 200 Follower Celebration
Note: Another update? Who is this bitch actually trying?
Hope you enjoy it. Thank you. Love you guys!
Please leave some feedback, like and reblog <3
The bus chugged down the city streets as you sat closer to the back. You stared out the window and watched the grey sky of Nelson hanging overhead, a cloudy backdrop to the smoking city.
You sighed every now and then, trying to forget the beeping and when it stopped. You still felt Andy’s hand on your back and the suffocating silence of the drive home. The burden of the dead woman on your shoulders.
It was as if it had been years since you saw the slightly crooked pole that held the bright sign. The bus stop was as desolate as ever, the dirty bench marked with spray paint and the shelter glass cracked. You set off around the corner past the house. Each was familiar but not comforting.
Your hips hurt from the stiff ride and you rubbed your stomach. You wore one of Andy’s hoodies under your open jacket, the zipper of the latter no longer meeting. You stopped in front of your parents’ house. You hadn’t asked permission; not from your mother, your father, or Andy. There was no courtesy phone call so you hesitated, afraid you might be sent away.
It was noon. Your father would be in the garage. He always had some project going. That was his work. He was cheaper than any other mechanic in the city, he just did it all from home. He could recycle parts from the junkyard and charge half price. They usually did better than the newer parts sent away for down at the Jiffy.
You walked up the driveway, the garage door was only halfway open, the bite of the late autumn, rather the early winter, mingled with the warmth flowing under the metal. You tapped on it with your knuckles, “dad?” you called.
You stepped back as his oily hands gripped the bottom and he hauled it up entirely. He tilted his head at you but couldn’t hide his smile. He looked at your stomach and you dropped your hand. He drew you to him before you could react. He hugged you tight and rocked you.
“Your mother’s gonna be mad you didn’t call before you came,” he let go of you and looked you over again.
“Mad that I’m even here,” you remarked.
“No, she might act like it but…” he waved you into the garage and rolled over the little stool he sat on when he was working. He helped you sit and put his wrench on the plywood table against the wall, “she missed you. We both did.” he wiped his hands on his jeans, “you could have called us. You know how she is. She feels before she thinks.”
“She kicked me out,” you felt precarious on the little rolling stool, “you let her.”
“So why’d you come back?” he asked.
You hung your head and hugged your stomach, “well, I’m having your granddaughter. I didn’t want you to find out from anyone but me.”
“It’s a girl?” he grinned.
“Sorry, wish I could give you a boy to get all filthy in this place,” you shrugged.
“You never minded getting your hands dirty,” he neared and grasped your shoulder.
“Yeah, guess it doesn’t matter too much, she’ll be as curious as any kid,” you said.
You were quiet as you looked around. Your dad’s rolling chest of tools was dented and rusted, the same one he’d had your whole life. The place hadn’t changed, only the car sitting in it.
“That’s not the only reason you’re here,” he said. Your father was a simple man but he wasn’t dumb.
You frowned and felt a prick in your eyes. The hormones, you told yourself, they were getting to you.
“I need you guys,” you said quietly, “is that so bad?”
“I missed you, you’re mom did too, she’s just stubborn. Think that’s where you get it,” he turned his hand over and held it out to you, “but she won’t turn you away.”
“You sure?”
“I won’t let her. Not this time,” he bent and took your hand, “now come on.”
You let him help you to your feet and he led you through the side door into the house. You heard your mother’s old Patsy Cline CD droning from the box speakers on the shelf as she muttered to herself.
Your dad kicked the dirty off his boots and you slipped your own off. You followed him and peeked over his shoulder as he went to the living room. Your mother was wiping down the framed picture from your high school graduation.
“I got a surprise for you,” he announced as he stepped aside and beckoned you in alongside him, “and she’s got a surprise for you.”
Your mother turned and froze. Her lips formed a straight line and her eyes pierced you. She didn’t say anything as he stared at you then tossed the dusting cloth onto the table beside the lamp. She looked down at your feet.
“You remembered to take your shoes off,” she said.
Your lips parted and your chest gripped. She was still mad.
“You remembered us,” she swept over to you so quickly, you flinched. She hugged you and her middle met yours. She let go and looked down at your stomach. Her eyes were sad but not angry, “I’m…” she lifted her head and met your gaze, “I’m not good at saying it but I’m sorry.”
You watched her for a minute. She was still her mother as nasty as she’d been. You could see her regret and it coupled with your own. It didn’t fix everything but for her, it was a lot.
“I’m sorry too,” you breathed, “it was… me being stupid started all of this. I just didn’t know what to do.”
“You gotta tell her,” your dad intoned.
You glanced at him then back to your mom. You gulped, “we found out yesterday, it’s a girl.”
“We? And where is… he?” your mother bristled.
“Working,” you said.
“We went to the diner, they said you quit. The café too,” your mom batted away lashes, “please, sit.” She touched your stomach, “you’re so big.”
“Five months, I think,” you said as you let her take you to the old floral sofa, “and the doctor recommended I take it easy so I had to… leave.”
“Oh? Is something wrong with the baby?” she picked up her cloth again and resumed her dusting. Your father quietly excused himself.
“No, just me,” you leaned against the arm, “but they said my blood pressure is getting better, just have to check it now and again.”
“And that man? The least I can say is at least he’s taking responsibility, even if he is married,” your mom hung the picture back on the nail.
“It was a mistake,” you said, “but you know, I think it’s taught me a lot. Not that it was worth it.”
“I don’t mean to rag on you, but… it’s just not how it should be,” she went to the television stand and focused on the edges.
“You think I don’t know that. Mom, I didn’t come here to argue my morality. I came here…” you paused as you felt your phone buzz. You slid it from your jacket pocket and checked the ID; Andy. You ignored it and dropped it back inside, “I just wanted to see if you had any interest in your granddaughter.”
She spun back and her face wrinkled with sadness. She twisted the cloth and retreated to the rocking chair and sat. She chewed her lip and looked at the floor. When she looked at you again, her brows crinkled.
“I’m trying,” she said, “but what you did, I don’t know if I can’t get over that. That man, everyone knows him, and when it comes out, with his wife still in a coma, you don’t think about what that does to us.”
“Well,” your throat constricted and you held back the hot tears bubbling behind your eyes, “she’s not anymore.”
“What?”
“She… she passed last night,” you sniffed, “and I’ll admit that I came here as much for me as you. I just needed… needed to get away. Just for a little.”
Your phone went off again and you grunted as you pulled it out and swiped away the second call from Andy. You kept the phone in your hand and rested it against your thigh.
“I just need time,” your mom leaned back heavily.
“Well, it’s quickly running out,” you replied, “she’s gonna be here soon enough.”
“I know,” she said grimly, “I know.”
There was another silence and your phone twitched. You turned it over and checked the message on the screen; ‘why don’t you invite your parents for dinner if you’re not gonna answer me?’ You let the phone slip between your legs and slowly raised your eyes. How did he know?
“I can go, if it’s too much,” you said, “I didn’t expect to get past the front door, honestly.”
“It’s not-- you’re still my daughter,” she uttered, “and even if it’s not the best situation, you got my granddaughter too.”
Your phone began to shake between your legs and you huffed, “sorry,” you stood with effort as you snatched the phone up, “just a second.”
You went into the dining room and answered. You hissed into the phone, “what do you want, Andy?”
“Why didn’t you tell me you were going there?” he asked sharply.
“How do you even know? You following me?” you kept your voice low.
“I know, that’s all,” he retorted, “it is… surprising.”
“They’re my parents,” you scowled at the tabletop as you leaned on a chair.
“Mine, too, right? Considering--”
“Andy,” you warned, “come on. Let’s cut this out--”
“Invite them for dinner. You’re right. Our kid will need her grandparents,” he interrupted, “I’ll get off early and help.”
“I don’t think--”
“Invite them,” he demanded, “and don’t take the bus back. I’ll send you the money for a cab.”
“Jesus, I can take care of myself--”
“No, you can’t, which is why you’re sleeping under my roof. And this isn’t about you, it’s about the baby,” he exhaled and you heard a squeak of metal, likely a chair, “Now I want you home by two. I’ll be there shortly after.”
He hung up before you could argue. You closed your eyes and forced down the angry bile in your chest. You shuttered and tucked the phone back in your jacket. How did he know you were there?
🌙
Your parents agreed to dinner. Your mother wasn’t subtle that she was curious to see Andy’s house. Her judgement was always her driving motivation and you were certain she could find something to hate, even in the suburban utopia.
You took the bus out of defiance and brewed with anger as you got off just outside the cul-de-sac. You walked the single block to Andy’s and paced like an angry lioness inside.
He arrived at three, just after. Your anxiety boiled with anger and you stopped to face him as he entered. You watched him put down his briefcase and hang his long black coat. Your nostrils flared as you braced yourself for the onslaught ready to spill forth.
“So, you weren’t following me?” you challenged.
“I was working,” he said quietly, “to pay for all of this…” he pointed to the ceiling, “and that,” he pointed to your bump.
“No, Andy, you don’t get to do that every time,” you snarled, “how did you know?”
He didn’t answer and brushed by you. You followed him into the kitchen as he went to the coffee machine and pressed the buttons bluntly. You watched him from a foot away, your hand on the cold marble.
“You can’t just ignore me. How did you know I was there?”
“Because…” he grabbed a mug and filled it with water. He poured it into the machine and snapped the lid shut, “because you have my baby and I have a right to make sure you don’t take it from me.”
“That’s not an answer,” you sneered, “Andy, I have done everything you’ve wanted. I have stayed here, I have quit my jobs, I have kept this baby for you, and you… you’re what? Tracking me like a dog?” You reached into your back pocket and slammed your phone on the counter. You slid it over to him, “when did you do it?”
His jaw ticked as he put a pod into the machine and hit start. He tapped his fingers on the counter and let out a long breath through his nose. He turned to you and crossed his arms.
“After you stayed out that night. I couldn’t worry like that again. I had to know,” he said staunchly, “because I’ve had a wife go out and not come back. A child--”
“I’m not your wife and I won’t ever be. This child is all we have in common,” you rebuffed, “even after last night. What you did, that doesn’t change things.”
You nearly tripped as he marched towards you. He had you against the far wall, his hand planted on either side of your head as his anger rippled across his forehead and set his jaw square. You pressed yourself against the pure white wall and tried not to wither.
“I did that for you,” he breathed, “I’ve done everything for you. Don’t act like you’re the only one doing shit.”
“Andy, get away--”
“No,” he punched the wall and you gasped, “my wife is gone. Jacob is gone! This is all I have; you, my daughter…that’s everything and I will be damned if I’m going to let you take any of it away from me.”
“You’re scaring me,” you wisped, “Andy, please--”
“No, you shut up and you listen. This is the last time we have this conversation. Your parents are coming and you’re going to be good. You’re going to wear something nice, you’re going to cook something good, and you’re going to smile. You don’t let them see you crack, not once.”
“You can’t--”
“Enough!” he hit the wall again and you heard it crumple under the force, “if you don’t, they won’t be around. Ever. Do you understand me?” you gaped up at him and trembled, you shook your head in disbelief. He leaned in and spoke softly to you, “Understand that I will make sure you and no one else ever sees them again.”
“You… wouldn’t…”
“I could. I will. You’re fucking bitch of a mom deserves it,” he hissed, “so, honey,” he growled the second word, “what’s it gonna be?”
Your lip quivered and you searched his face. The rage had his blue eyes alight and his breath rasped out like animalistic snarls. You thought of Laurie, of how blank he’d been when they stopped the machines. And that smile, after. What was that?
“I’ll… be good,” you murmured, “I will.”
His lips twitched and he shoved himself away from you. He stomped over to the fridge and took out the light cream. He added it to his mug of fresh coffee and stirred. You stood straight shakily and looked up at the hole beside your head.
“Well,” he said, “better figure out what you’re making for dinner. Our guests won’t be long.”

NCT REACTION — what they would do if you flinch away from them
TRIGGER WARNING — mentions of domestic abuse but no graphic depictions of it.
LISTEN TO — make me go by twice
TAEIL
being the kind, gentle person that he is, taeil would be horrified. he never ever wants to scare or hurt you and i think he would be so sad that you could ever think he was even capable of that. but even though he felt upset, he would still put you first and make sure you felt safe again.
“shh, honey, it’s okay,” he would gather you up in a hug, pulling your head into his chest soothingly. “i don’t know who taught you to be afraid but i would never, ever do something like, my love.”
JOHNNY
the first emotion that goes runs through him is confusion, quickly followed by the realization that you had actually flinched away from him, like you were scared he might hurt you, and then a sinking feeling enveloped his chest, like a hand had wrapped itself around his heart and squeezed.
“baby, are—are you scared of me?” he reached out to gently cup your cheek. instead of looking afraid, you melted into his touch, which he took as a good sign. “you don’t need to be scared. i promise, prince(ss).”
TAEYONG
more than anything (even though he’s definitely a little hurt), taeyong just feels worried about you. he wants to make sure you’re okay and that you know you’re safe, but he would also ask about why you got so scared. he wouldn’t pressure you to tell him anything you didn’t want to, but he would be worried that something bad happened to you in the past.
you’d drop the argument, curling up in bed together instead. taeyong would make sure you felt loved, reiterating that you can trust him and that he would never do anything to hurt you on purpose.
YUTA
yuta would be so angry. he knows that it’s not the right reaction, but he can’t help it. he just can’t believe that you actually thought he would hurt you. in reality, he’s just sad and scared, but his confusing swirl of emotions manifests itself as anger. in the moment, he yells at you, asking if that was really what you thought of him, but later, after taking some time to cool down, he would feel really guilty about it.
“i’m really sorry, y/n. i was just sad and hurt that you think i would ever hit you or something. i wouldn’t. i promise, i would never and will never do anything like that.”
KUN
kun is probably one of the most caring, gentle people ever so it’s always a little scary when he gets angry. despite that, you were more startled than scared when you flinched away from him. kun didn’t know that, though, and he was instantly heartbroken at the thought of you being afraid around him.
he would be careful at first, reaching out to you slowly, but as soon as you wrapped you arms around his neck he would be pulling you into a hug. he never wants you to feel unsafe around him.
DOYOUNG
doyoung would be confused. he has to take a minute to process that you actually just flinched away from him, because that’s the last thing on his mind. he wasn’t even that angry, but he swept his arm up to run through his hair and it scared you. he felt really guilty about it, honestly. he makes you some tea and sits down with you so that you guys can talk it out.
“i didn’t mean to scare you,” he admits. he would do his best to explain what he was doing and how hurting you was the last thing on his mind.
TEN
“did you seriously just flinch?” ten would be mad at first, but only because he was already fired up from the argument you were having and the idea that you were actually scared he might hurt you infuriated him. he would never do something like that and he felt insulted that you thought he would, even for just a moment. after cooling down, he would feel guilty about reacting like that.
“i’m sorry,” he tells you later, cheeks a little pink as he thinks about how badly he reacted. “i just felt sad that you thought i could do something like that, but it wasn’t your fault and i shouldn’t have yelled at you. i don’t want to scare you like that ever again.”
JAEHYUN
jaehyun never even raises his voice at you, so you know that logically he would never ever hit you, but for some reason you couldn’t stop yourself from flinching at the way he slammed the door as he left the room to go cool off. you had been arguing over whether or not you should go to a friend’s wedding. jaehyun had something important to do for work, but you thought it would be rude not to go.
after he had calmed down, he would come back to you (as he always did) and apologize. you were sniffling to yourself, hugging one of your plushies to your chest. the sight tugged at jaehyun’s heart. he would do his best to make it better, apologizing and gently poking fun at himself until he saw you smile.
WINWIN
sicheng never knows that to do when you’re feeling sad. he hates seeing you cry but he’s always afraid of saying the wrong thing or touching you when you don’t want him to. he wasn’t trying to scare you, but you still flinched away from him. he knew you were just a little more sensitive than normal because you had been fighting, but it still hurt his feelings.
“i wouldn’t ever hurt you,” he promises, sounding hurt and a little offended. he reaches out cautiously to hold one of your hands in his own. “you know i’m not that kind of person. i’m so sorry for scaring you.”
JUNGWOO
as if jungwoo could ever hurt anybody. but in your defense, he’s very different when he’s upset. still, it was more out of surprise than genuine fear that you flinched away from him as he yelled at you. he would freeze when he realized what happened. all of his anger would be gone, replaced by concern for you. he just wants to make sure you’re okay and that you know that he wouldn’t ever do anything bad to you (or anyone. c’mon, he’s an angel.)
“y/n? no, no,” he would get so freaked out, reaching for your hand quickly. he squeezes your fingers softly, leaning down a little to look in your eyes. “no. i wouldn’t do that. promise.”
LUCAS
you and lucas are always bickering playfully over little things. it’s never serious, but sometimes, when one of you is in a bad mood already, it can go south, which is what happened today. you were cooking dinner together and lucas accidentally burned the rice. you playfully made fun of him, but he was already feeling frustrated because of practice and yelled at you, making you flinch in shock.
he felt himself deflate after that, feeling so guilty for scaring you when you were just trying to make him laugh and feel a little better. “i’m so sorry, baby. i didn’t mean it, i promise. i’m just a little stressed out right now. you didn’t deserve that.”
MARK
sometimes mark gets shy about having you around the other members. they like to tease him a lot, especially when you’re around. this time, you decided to join in, loving how cute he gets when he’s all shy, but mark didn’t like it. as dumb as it sounds, a small part of mark still feels like he has to look cool in front of you so without even thinking about it, he raises his voice at you, pushing you away as he tells you to stop. you flinched, not expecting him to get upset.
later, you found him sitting in bed, his guitar in his lap. he stopped playing when he saw you, a cloud passing over his face. you felt so guilty. you didn’t move closer, apologizing softly. mark wasn’t looking at you until you said that and then he looked just as guilty as you. he stood, pulling you into a hug and apologizing for snapping at you. you both did something wrong, but you were ready to talk about it and move on.
XIAOJUN
you and junnie are always spending time together, but neither of you talk much. he’ll be writing lyrics or singing or playing video games, while you just sit next to him, head on his shoulder, or across from him with your legs draped over his. you like enjoying each other’s company like that. he didn’t mean to make you flinch. neither of you were upset or anything; he just moved suddenly and you weren’t expecting it.
“what happened?” he laughed, cupping your face in his hands gently. he pressed a kiss to your nose. “did i scare you? i’m sorry.”
HENDERY
hendery is always getting on your nerves on purpose, but most of the time it’s just little things like pulling your hair (gently, though, so he doesn’t hurt you too much) or making fun of the shoes you’re wearing. today he decided to scare you, hiding in a dark practice room until you entered, looking for him. he jumped out from behind a wall, scaring you so badly you actually screamed. hendery flicked the lights on, laughing at your reaction.
“i hate you,” you complained, slapping his arms away from you as he tried to squish you in a hug. “stay away from me forever, please.”
RENJUN
you and junnie had gotten matching pajamas recently and needed an occasion to wear them so you were having a sleepover, watching ghost movies and cuddling on the couch. you didn’t think the movie was that scary until renjun made a sudden move to stand up and you flinched so violently that the popcorn in your lap went everywhere.
“i’m sorry!” renjun laughed at you, wrapping his arms around your waist and squeezing you. he kissed your cheek lightly. “i didn’t mean to scare you.”
JENO
you were helping him put one of your house plants back on top of a bookshelf in your living room. it was higher than even jeno could reach, so you were holding the step ladder to make sure it didn’t move too much while he put the plant in place. everything was going well until jeno slipped. jeno is bigger and stronger than you, so you didn’t blame yourself for flinching when you thought he was going to crush you. luckily, he caught himself at the last moment.
“whoa, that was close,” he pulled you into a hug, kissing the top of your head. “that could’ve been really bad.”
HAECHAN
arguing with hyuck is frustrating in that it almost never goes anywhere. he gets so petty and focuses all of his energy on pissing you off instead of actually solving any problems. it drives you up the wall, but you’ve never been afraid of him until now. he had convinced himself that you were flirting with someone else and he was getting really worked up. still, everything ground to a halt when he noticed you flinch away from him.
“are you stupid?” he snapped, still angry. “you actually think i would hurt you? what’s wrong with you?”
“what’s wrong with me? listen to yourself!”
yeah, you’d need a couple days after this one, but i think haechan would eventually get over himself and try to apologize to you.
JAEMIN
again, jaem almost never fights with you, but today you crossed the street without looking and he couldn’t stop himself from lecturing you about how dangerous that is. he didn’t mean to make you sad or scare you, so he would feel so guilty when you flinched away from him. he would gather you up in his arms, reassuring you that he wouldn’t do that.
“from now on you’re holding my hand everywhere,” he decides, squeezing you softly. “i can’t have my baby getting hurt by anything. especially not me. i wouldn’t ever hurt you, my love.”
YANGYANG
you and yangyang don’t have time to argue. you’re too busy vibing. plus, you agree about almost everything, so it’s rare for you to need to fight about anything. yangyang wasn’t even mad at you when he made you flinch. he was playing a video game and losing so he was getting frustrated. you were sitting in his lap, head resting on his shoulder sleepily. you flinched as his agitated words pulled you out of sleep.
“oh, i’m sorry, angel,” he said when he felt the weight of your head leave his shoulder. he took one hand off the control to press your head back to his shoulder. “go back to sleep. i’ll calm down.”
CHENLE
you and lele were out shopping, trying to find something to wear to a friend’s birthday party. he didn’t mean to make you flinch at all, he just surpised you. you were looking at some dresses on one side of the store, thinking he was looking at belts in another section. he came up behind, ready to ask your opinion between two options, but his voice surpised you, making you flinch.
chenle laughed, squeezing you in a quick side hug since other people were around. he would probably tease you about it for weeks to come, but at least you looked snatched for your friend’s party.
JISUNG
despite being pretty young, you and jisung handle your arguments really well. you know how to talk about things without really fighting or getting petty about it. still, there are times when little fights happen over things that don’t really matter. like when you come home to jisung desperately trying to get a stain out of the sweater you let him borrow. maybe it was a stupid fight, but you were genuinely upset.
jisung would feel really bad for yelling and making you flinch. he already ruined your favorite sweater and now he scared you. he would apologize a lot, telling you that you could ruin his favorite jeans as payback but you just flicked his forehead, telling him he was being dumb. he would still feel bad, trying to make it up to you by being extra nice for the next few days.

wounds ✧ theseus scamander
Pairing: Theseus Scamander x Fem!reader, Newt Scamander x Fem!reader
Warnings: maybe some swearing, mentions of sex, blood
Summary: “Who is he? The guy that you were with last night?” The woman exclaimed, “I wasn’t with anyone. Your brother had invited me over for dinner, so be careful before you go making assumptions about someone.”
GIF IS NOT MINE
Y/N strode through the British Ministry of Magic, slipping into the elevator before the sliding door could close. She pressed the button to level four, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. As the elevator door slowly opened, she ran out of patience for it to open completely, wedging herself between the door and the wall of the moving cylinder. She quickly paced down the corridors, making various turns on the way to her office.
Inside, she was panicked, her body flooded with anxiety. Her report was due to Travers first thing in the morning and she hadn’t even started. How was she going to fit two months worth of events into three hours? Oh, she dug her hole deep this time. She finally reached her office; once the grand door was closed, she threw off her heels and scurried over to her desk. Y/N sorted and ruffled through the papers on her desk, her anxiety growing the more papers she scattered.
Come on, come on. It has to be here. I knew I put it in this stack.
She turned around to face the monstrous book shelves that only a library would have. Her hands delicately swept over numerous books, trying her best to remember if she had stuck the blank report in one while she was researching.
“Looking for this, I presume,” the gruff voice spoke from the balcony.
Her head suddenly turned faster than a thestral could fly. She met eyes with the icy blue ones she knew all too well. The tall man walked down the stairwell, sure enough grasping the blank report in his hands. Her bare feet padded against the marble floor so they met in front of her desk. They were standing close to one another, maybe too close.
“Give it back, Thes.”
He sighed, stepping back to sit in the leather club chair placed in front of the engraved wooden rectangle. He extended his arm out to her, gesturing to take the file from his grasp. Once she responded and reached out for the report, he cruely snatched it back to his body.
“Theseus,” Y/N stated back in a warning tone.
He cleared his throat, an evident smirk on his face, “On one condition.”
“Name it.”
“Where were you last night?” He raised his eyebrows as his smirk faltered.
“No,” she spat back, walking behind her desk to sit in her own chair awkwardly, “that is none of your concern.”
He adjusted his position so he leaned closer to the girl, “Because I stopped by your place and you weren’t there. It’s kind of ironic. The night you come back from a two month assignment, you’re miraculously not at you flat.”
Y/N squinted her eyes, “Why were you at my flat?”
“I was being a nice friend and checking up on you. So, I went to your place, but didn’t find you, so I left.”
“I’m sorry Theseus, I-”
“Who is he?” Theseus interrupted.
She scoffed, “Pardon me?”
“Who is he? The guy that you were with last night?”
The woman exclaimed, “I wasn’t with anyone. Your brother had invited me over for dinner, so be careful before you go making assumptions.”
She abruptly stood up, placing her heels back onto her feet as she walked out the door. As she passed Theseus, she snatched the report out of his hands, the force of the swipe startling him. Something boiled in his veins. He didn’t know if the feeling was jealousy, anger, betrayal, sadness, or all of the above. As quick as he could be, he apparated to Newt’s place. Without thinking, he was banging on the door, demanding Newt to open the wooden frame. Once he did, Newt was shocked to find a very angry Theseus at his door.
“What is wrong with you?” Theseus screamed, allowing himself into the flat.
“I haven’t the slightest idea what you are talking about,” Newt answered.
Theseus’s face reddened out of anger as he pointed a finger at him, “You know how I felt about her. You, you git! And still, you invite her over for dinner and she stays over here.”
Newt was confused, astonished even. He thought she told Theseus about the wound. That is, the only reason Y/N came over. Maybe to catch up as well, but that was after Newt had given her something to heal the pain.
“Well, say something!” Theseus sternly stated.
“I-I think,” Newt huffed, “Y/N came to me. She didn’t want the Ministry to find out she was hurt on her assignment to Romania. Y/N’s hip and lower abdomen were burned by a Hungarian Horntail. There’s nothing much you can do to heal it with a wand, so I helped her and applied some potions to the burn and-and I wrapped it for her. She did mention avoiding St. Mungos because the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary had told her there is nothing that they could do. But, but I-I thought at least she had told you.”
Theseus asked, “If Y/N was hurt why did she go into work this morning?”
Newt quickly shook his head while diverted his contact from Theseus’s eyes, “That’s not, um- I told her that it would be wise not to go in and report sick. But she never seems to listen to me and my instructions. I applied Burn-Healing Paste around the area and then I wrapped it with a mixture of plum leaves to counteract the pain. I insisted that she stayed the night so that she could rest and that way I could check up on her if she needed it. That was it Theseus, I swear to you nothing else happened.”
There were so many thoughts processing through Theseus’s head. Why didn’t you tell him the truth? Why didn’t you tell him that you were hurt? Did you not trust him enough? Why did you come running to Newt instead of him? All he knew is that he needed to get to you as soon as possible and set everything straight.
“I am sorry for getting upset with you Newt,” Theseus apologized.
“It’s okay,” Newt replied, his gaze focused on the floor as he fidgeted with him bow tie, “I suppose if the roles were reversed, that I would feel the same.”
Before Newt registered what was happening, Theseus had embraced him in a warm hug. A forgiving hug. Newt wasn’t a big hugger himself, but this once he responded back and wrapped his arms around his older brother.
“Theseus, I think now would be a good time to tell Y/N how you feel about her.”
Theseus smiled softly as he pulled away, “Alright, Newt. Thank you.”
Theseus hands remained on Newt’s shoulders. Before Theseus apparated, his hand reached up to pat the side of his brother’s gentle face. As soon as Newt blinked, Theseus was gone. Although Newt was not the wishing type, he hoped with all of his being that Theseus and Y/N would get this sorted out. Not only because they are best friends, but because Newt sees the love both of them have for each other.
Back at the comfort of her own home, Y/N was distracting herself with chores. She hadn’t visited her London flat since she had decided to go to Romania. As much as she seemed clam and collected, her feelings were quite the opposite. She hated to admit it, but being back in London has set a terrible feeling of uneasiness over her body.
Uneasiness...that's all she could feel. The atmosphere of London brings back memories. Memories of work, memories of her personal life. Memories of the night she left. All of the above she wanted to forget. Maybe that's why she accepted the job in Romania so quickly. Maybe she wanted to get away from everyone that had hurt her. She shuddered thinking of the old time. She had placed the cleaning supplies away on the top shelf, and just as she was going to make herself a cuppa, there was a sudden pain in her side.
"Merlin," she mumbled.
She quickly but cautiously made her way to the full-body mirror that stood upright in her room. Y/N gently lifted her olive green blouse and immediately cursed herself. Her gaze met with dark red liquid seeping through the plum leaves that were sealed to her body. She discarded her shirt to avoid staining blood on it, careful not to strain the wound anymore than it already was. She paced to her bathroom, opening her medicine cabinet that stood next to the porcelain-top sink. Browsing hastily through all the bottles and bags, she quickly tried to find the burning paste that Newt had given her. However, the more Y/N moved her body, the more nauseated she had become. After finding the burning paste, she stripped her slacks, leaving the girl in her undergarments. She couldn’t determine whether her tripping and stumbling was from dizziness or urgency, but she knew if she did not sit down soon, she was going to faint. Y/N turned and snatched multiple wash rags and sheets of gauze to soak up the spilling blood while she applied pressure to the wound.
Too preoccupied with the task at hand, Y/N had not even heard the almost urgent knocking at the door. She also did not hear the footsteps of her best man walking through the apartment. Suddenly, he bursts through the bathroom door, clearly making himself known.
“THESEUS!” Y/N jumped, attempting to cover herself decently without straining the wound.
Much to Y/N’s dismay, Theseus observed the scene of the bathroom quickly. Blood-satined rags and towels scattered across the cold tile floor while medical equipment was on the counter. Theseus did not hesitate to walk towards the cowering girl. But as he approached her, Y/N’s arms flailed around, repetitively hitting Theseus in the chest, pushing him back. Before she knew it, Theseus had grabbed both of her wrists and pulled her body close to his to avoid her relentlessness.
“Stop, stop it. Y/N listen to me, you’re going to make the bleeding worse. Stop it,” he spoke sternly.
“Theseus, get out! Get out! I don’t want you here!”
“Darling, let me help you. Please let me help you.”
She would be lying if she said that his words didn’t flutter her heart. Honestly, it wouldn’t be anything Theseus hadn’t seen before. Reluctantly, she let Theseus take her robe off, giving Theseus a full view of the wound.
He gently brushed around the sensitive skin surrounding the inflammation. Y/N winced as he applied pressure to an area above her rib.
“Come on, “ Theseus muttered, taking her hand and leading her to sit on the edge of the bathtub. Theseus cautiously applied the burn paste and wrapped the bandages around Y/N’s torso. He stepped away, wiping off his hands with one of the discarded rags. He helped Y/N stand up, guiding her to the bathroom sink. He picked up her silk robe from being draped over her vanity and gently slipped it over her shoulders, carefully easing her arms through the designated positions. They stood next to one another, both leaning against the porcelain sink. There was silence as time passed, as if the both of them were scared to talk to the other.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Theseus asked, leaning against the sink.
“I was scared of how you’d react,” Y/N replied.
“Scared of what?”
Y/N turned and walked to the master bedroom, Theseus following close behind for precaution.
“I was scared that you would find out I was hurt and pull me out of Romania, that’s why I didn’t tell you. You are Head Auror now, so you can do that. And Merlin, Theseus, I know how you are; if I would have written Travers saying I was burned by a Hungarian, you would have come and got me yourself.”
He sighed, “I wouldn’t have.”
Y/N’s head whipped around, “No! You don’t get to do that! You don’t get to say that because you would have. And then, to top it all off, I come home and you put me in an uncomfortable position because you’re acting like everything is fine when everything is not fine. It made me feel like I couldn’t tell you. That’s why.”
Theseus’s eyes flashed between hers, “Tell me what’s not fine.”
“Merlin, Theseus! You’re so ignorant and oblivious!” Y/N stressed, her hands running through her (h/c) hair.
Her eyes met his, hers burning with rage and frustration as his were with confusion.
“Theseus, the night before I left, we spent the night together. We spent the morning together before I left. The moment before I left for Romania, you said you would wait for me. Then I come back, ready to jump in your arms and give you the biggest hug ever imaginable, yet you weren’t there. So I sought comfort at Newt’s.”
Theseus looked away, shaking his head profusely, “No.”
Y/N scoffed, “No what, Thes?”
Theseus looked back into her (e/c) orbs. Y/n couldn’t read his face, but there was a flash in his eyes, a hint of passion.
“No, you’ve got your story wrong,” Theseus grabbed her wrists and pulled her gently against him.
He brought her hands up to the sides of her face while hers rested on the lapels of his suit, “I’m still waiting for you.”
Instinctively, Theseus and Y/N both leaned in, their lips cascading in the wave of emotion that was built up within their months apart. The kiss was passionate, nothing but the love and yearning they had for one another. They pulled away, catching their breaths while their foreheads rested against another’s. Theseus’s right arm slipped down to drape on her waist while his left stroked the side of Y/N’s face.
“I love you, Theseus. I have ever since 4th year,” Y/N whispered.
He chuckled, “Good, because I’ve loved you since 5th year when you spent the holidays with me.”
Y/N’s arms wrapped around his waist, embracing him in a hug while her head rested on his chest.
“Thank you for waiting on me.”
“Anything for you darling,” he mumbled as he kissed the crown of her head.

Who was worse, Cole or Byron and why is it Byron?
🤣 okay @tumblfish Iets talk Cole vs Byron
First addressing who is worse: in the context of the show I think both characters being pawns in the Gallavich relationship gives them a pass on being labeled better or worse. However, you are correct the answer is Byron. Byron is the worst.
So here's my own personal headcannon for Byron: Mickey has just been stood up at the alter (City Hall) and he's upset and angry and he goes to some bar and drinks and drinks and tries maybe to fuck someone else.
Byron was a nice guy who notices Mickey's drunk and hurt and tries to make sure he's okay. Maybe he takes Mickey somewhere to sleep it off and offered him a ride home in the morning. Then he's being swept up in Mickey's plan to make Ian jealous.
They had a connection. Or at least Byron thought they did. We can't fault the guy for Mickey still being in love with Ian and using Byron to hurt Ian. I think Byron liked Mickey, was maybe attracted to his looks or his vulnerability, but ultimately Mickey is not a likable person, especially when the person he is around Byron is rude and demanding. Mickey tells Byron how their relationship will be. The night before when he was drunk and sad and talking about his ex and listening to Byron talk about his life and hooking up a bit ;that is who Byron liked and was willing to be with, to let stay with him after getting his heart broken. For these reasons I don't think Byron is a bad person.
Now here's why I do think Bryon is worse. Its the next day, Mickey has just dropped a trash bag of clothes on his floor and tells him how their relationship is going to be and he let's Mickey get away with it. He begs Ian to take him back like he can't just end it with Mickey. I know Mickey is intimidating but Bryon does not need to push Mickey back on Ian, he needs to talk to Mickey and stand up for himself in the process. But he doesn't do that, he let's Mickey continue to hurt and use him in his hurt. Then while on a date with Mickey he bitches and complains to his friends about Mickey, truly insulting things like that he's not sure he know how to read. Byron is worse because even as he learned more about the situation he had fallen into he didn't really do anything about it. In fact, part of me now wonders if he let it play out for his own entrainment, so he could complain to his friends about something as interesting as this tragic Southside romance and this terrible guy who is definitely not his boyfriend. Did he really intend to stay with Mickey if Ian didn't "take him off his hands" that night?
Now Cole. Precious Cole. Yes, he met Ian very similar to how I imagine Byron met Mickey: heartbroken, drinking in a bar, trying to get back at his ex, but Cole met Ian through Grindr where Ian asked for a date. He never knows about Ian's plan to make Mickey jealous and never really gets the opportunity to learn the story since he was punched in the face and down for the count before the proposal. Cole is better by omission.
That being said if Cole and Byron switched places I think the biggest difference we would have seen is how Cole would have handled Mickey. Cole would have told Mickey and Ian what they needed to hear and helped bring them back together through some tough love. Cole's worst offense was being too horny for Mickey's man. We can't fault him for that.
Thanks for letting me ramble about our boys and their victims on the path to marriage. I hope Cole got an invite to the wedding and Byron got a flaming box of shit on his doorstep.

You’d been hiding for years and years now; from your family, from society, from alphas and packs. Steve swept you up in his arms and turned to deposit you on the landing upstairs, evidently trusting the others to keep you contained for a moment. There was an audible scuffle going on in the den, Bucky would be heard growling from outside—snapping at someone who made the mistake of asking how he’d gotten out there so fast? Tony was growling at Peter who looked seconds away from begging for forgiveness.
“You guys made it safe, I’m happy to see you Nat,” Steve drew the redhaired woman into his arms and sighed in relief, but you couldn’t tell if it was a question or a statement; honestly you were having trouble thinking, your brain clouded with the sudden onset of absolute and uncontrolled panic.
The moment the black-haired man had been pulled away by the delta currently stomping back up the stairs, clarity had returned to you like a slap in the face. The golden fog that obscured your vision immediately dissipated and just as quickly you’d been overwhelmed with gut wrenching fear. You didn’t actually remember kicking Steve in the face or making a break for the stairs, but evidently you had and you cursed your hindbrain for running towards the stairs—you should’ve jumped straight out the window; you had a better chance at out running Bucky and whoever else was down there than the two alpha primes and their surrounding packmates.
Before you could even take a step towards the still wide-open window, the black-haired man appeared with a green flash and wrapped around you tightly. “Shhh , pet, no. No windows for you, darling, come now—back to your nest.”
In a moment of truly unusual harmony, your consciousness and hindbrain agreed that the bed was the last place you wanted to be. That wasn’t your bed, the omega hissed tearfully, you’d never made a nest—that wasn’t yours. It could barely be called a nest, even. There hadn’t been any careful consideration regarding the placement of the pillows and blankets, there were no articles of clothing or soft items that had been scavenged or stolen to elicit a feeling of safety or comfort. Worst of all was the way it smelled. Obviously, it didn’t reek, the mix of individual scents wasn’t a bad conglomeration, but your hindbrain whined at the unfamiliarity. This wasn’t your pack’s scent.
The cohesion was jarring, and you groaned. Regardless of the reasoning, your hindbrain was aware that you didn’t get to have a pack and that reminder always hurt. It desperately desired one, but an omega’s primary objective was survival.
After all, you in all of your fully conscious state knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that you would never have a pack—it wasn’t a matter of wanting or not wanting at this point in your life. You were too old to be regressed into the type of omega that packs wanted, your body too badly reliant on the chemical reactions produced by suppressants after fifteen years to stop taking them. At your age, to be found by a pack meant death.
They would get sick of trying to fix you. You’d die from quitting the suppressants cold turkey. They’d beat you for disobedience until your body gave up. You were nearly thirty and that was ancient for an unbound omega and you couldn’t teach an old dog new tricks. Especially an old dog who was bound and determined not to be taught.
“LOKI!” Bucky bellowed as he stomped past Steve and the redhead on the stairs, looking three shades past furious.
The man holding you let go very quickly after that, spinning you away and moving to intercept the furious delta with an equally unpleasant expression. Why couldn’t you have just fucking kept it together upon meeting Bruce—that blood in the water, shark nosed asshole, if you had reigned in your panic there was no way he could’ve scented you through your suppressants. Steve was a different story, but if you’d been quick and calm you probably could’ve made it.
You scanned the room quickly; Bruce was on the bed, checking on Wanda. Bucky and Loki were on the floor fighting, half entangled with Peter and Sam who were doing their best to put their own fight aside to keep the deltas from killing each other. Steve was still halfway down the stairs with the other redhead, talking to her quietly. Tony was—
“Okay, princess, okay,” Tony was wrapped tightly around you from behind, carefully keeping your head braced between his chin and shoulder when you tried to thrash. “This isn’t fair to you, you’re way too fragile for this right now. Put your head here, breathe with me.”
“Please let me go,” you didn’t realize you were crying until you spoke, words coming out in sobs. “I don’t want to die like this, please—”
“You are not going to die, little love,” Thor sounded so sad from where he came to stand in front of you. “I’m not going to bond you, not while you’re so upset. But the results of the tests Bruce ran showed that you are in danger. I cannot allow that and no matter how angry you are with us, we will not let you suffer needlessly.”
“I’m not suffering! I swear, I swear I’m not suffering I’m, I’m happy! I’m happy living my life the way I have been. Please, let me have the choice, I want to be alone, it makes me happy!”
Trying to explain to a literal God why you deserved personal agency was an exhausting business, especially when said God was as condescending as Thor. His indulgent and sad smile was nearly enough to tip you over the edge, but there really wasn’t a point in getting angry—he obviously couldn’t even fathom the concept that what he was doing was wrong. It’s not like you could do anything anyway, you weren’t built for violence but for running away. Every bone in your body vibrated with rage; the injustice was overwhelming.
For fifteen whole years you’d been just fine. You would’ve continued to be just fine, if it weren’t for some super nosed freaks crossing your path. What were the odds of the only people in the world who could scent you from beneath more than a decade’s worth of suppressant use would have a cabin in Quebec that you happened to clean—and run into said people because they happened to show up early; an incredibly unusual situation.
It made you think about Mrs. Hunt. She’d only called to give you a heads up because of the last time, when the homeowner had tried to assault you even while he’d thought that you were a beta . You wondered how long it would take her to realize something was wrong; it was getting late and you’d yet to return her cart despite telling her you’d be there shortly.
The real question would be whether she tried to help or not once she discovered your presentation. She could try to help, try to stick them with omega theft, but they could claim civic duty like Peter had earlier. Besides, that was contingent upon her wanting to help you considering you’d lied to her for so many years.
“You’re so distressed, won’t you let me purr for you?”
“Don’t! Don’t you dare take away—”
“Little love, please—”
“Don’t call me that. You don’t even know me,” you spat, turning to address the room at large. “What kind of fucking superheros are you? Let go of me! Let me go!”
Tony sighed and hefted you up into his arms, one wrapped around your torso while the other hooked under your knees and pinned you carefully across his body. You struggled uselessly against his strong hold; he wasn’t as strong as Thor or Steve, but his bicep was massive next to your head and you could feel his muscles through his clothes as he walked to the bed.
“We can’t, princess,” he murmured into the side of your head as he lowered both of you to the bed, sitting propped against a mass of pillows in the corner. “We’ll never find an unbound omega in your age range again. Plenty of omegas have been offered to us, but they’re all practically children. You’re our last chance—”
“There are plenty! You said plenty! Pick the oldest who wants to be in this fucking shit show and leave me alone!” Everyone tensed when the tone in your voice approached a shriek.
“We’re not taking an omega who’s not even legal to drink—”
“That alpha is like eighteen!” You tried to gesture to Peter, who gaped at you like you’d wounded him, but your arms were still pinned tightly to your sides.
“Peter is twenty-four, actually,” Tony spoke with mirth when Peter jumped onto the bed and crawled until he was pressed against Tony’s side and your back. “And before you ask, Wanda is twenty-six.”
“We’re so lucky to have found you,” the alpha half purred, pressing his nose into the back of your neck. “We’ll make you happy, happier than you are now.”
“It’s gonna be a rough start,” Bruce laid down in the nest a few feet away, welcoming the woman you recognized as the Black Widow into his arms when she slithered into the bed. “We have to balance your hormones, or you will die. You wouldn’t have lasted another year on those suppressants.”
“Death would be a reprieve,” you hissed shortly, freezing when the tone of the room immediately changed.
All attention was suddenly on you, Bruce still making direct eye contact with those sad puppy eyes, “I know that feeling, sweetheart—”
“We will do it another way then,” Thor interrupted, sending Bruce a quieting but loving look. “I said I would not bond you while you are in distress anda I will never break a promise to you. Open your mouth, this will be quick.”
Steve seemed to sigh in response and followed to stand next to the other prime, “I lost my chance. You’ll help her?”
Thor leveled the shorter blond with a careful look before nodding, both showing signs of deference and affection and respect that you did not care for. The rattle of a belt prompted Tony to turn you, setting you carefully between his legs while continuing to hold down your arms with what could appear to be an affectionate bear hug. He even linked his fingers with yours, squeezing gently as you tried to squirm.
“No. No, no no no, that’s disgusting, I won’t—”
“Shhh , I’ll do all the work little love, all you need to do is swallow.”
He was jerking his cock carefully, a flick of his wrist near the head catching your eye. That was a dangerous weapon, the same way you’d come to learn Steve’s was and you had no intention of letting it anywhere near your mouth. You clamped your lips shut, teeth grinding.
“Stubborn,” Peter snorted a laugh and you would’ve snapped at him had his hand not dove between your thighs, fingers gliding through the slick lips of your cunt until he found your clit.
You had to stop yourself from screeching, the head of Thor’s cock directly in front of your face. “Very. Come on now, open up.”
The fingers pinching your nose shut came as a shock, you’d crushed your eyes shut out without realizing it and they snapped open when your face was assaulted. Steve was kneeling on the bed, carefully cutting of your air supply with one hand and stroking your head with the other.
“Come on, precious, you’ve gotta breathe,” he stated softly, smiling when you were forced to pull your lips back to gasp for breath—until he realized your teeth were still locked together. “Really ‘mega?”
The next thing you knew his thumb was shoving against your molars, literally prying your jaw open. There was no way to fight it without hurting yourself, especially once he wedged his thick thumb between your top and bottom teeth. You barely had a second to anticipate the horror before an unnecessarily large cock found it’s way between your lips.
You tried to shriek, your brain finally catching up to the whole series of events, but it was no use. His scent was overwhelming and his dick stretched your lips, your jaw forced completely open. Thor groaned, a triggering noise as he very carefully pressed forward until your mouth was completely full and he was settled against you tongue.
“Suck for me, little love, just a little,” he grunted, just barely working his member between your lips while his huge hand stroked the rest.
It took a surprisingly small amount of time for a massive load of cum to shoot into your mouth. It was thick, and the way that Thor growled immediately made your pupils blow wide like you’d done a line of coke.
Your body went lax immediately and you swallowed on instinct when a hand gently rubbed your throat. The fuzz in your brain was the result of arousal, a brutal orgasm that rocked your body at the sound in combination with your body’s sheer delight at the taste of alpha cum. Somewhere you realized that was disgusting but the haze in your brain made you more focused on the hand between your thighs rather than the indignity.
“Man, this shit ain’t fair,” Sam complained, panting from the exertion of trying to prevent Loki and Bucky from killing each other. “They get to cuddle and we—Hey! Quit that, man!”
“All of you stop fighting,” Steve’s alpha order was brutal and effective.
The sounds of scuffling from behind Thor stopped immediately and there were huffs and snarls and low grumbles but the nest started shifting all around you. You were dropped back to lay against Tony’s chest, having inadvertently swallowed the entirety of the god’s massive load.
“She’s so cute,” Wanda cooed from somewhere to your left.
“We’ll need to go over what we’re doing from here,” Steve sighed once everyone had settled, still watching your dazed expression with a small smile. “But let’s just… nest for a bit, okay?”
The word nest triggered something in your half alpha-cum stoned brained and you looked around the den with a displeased expression. It was a terrible nest; all of the pillows and blankets were in weird heaps and the scent was so wrong. You didn’t really want to nest here, your hindbrain grumbled in agreement, but you’d fix the damn thing. You whined and wriggled until Steve gave Tony the go ahead to stop fully restraining you.
The bed was incredibly soft, which was an upside and crawling across it was like sinking your knees into clouds as you collected the soft heaps of blankets and pillows as you went. You wanted everything off so you could start from scratch, brain muddled by the wrongness of the current layout. You wanted to wash the sheets, the pillow cases, the blankets, all of it. The scent wasn’t right.
“Help her.” It was a quiet request from the Black Widow, who’d also started shifting around to remove the items. “She doesn’t like it like this.”
It was easier to get everything pushed away and in neat piles with the packs’ help, everyone immediately moving to help organize the pillows. You only snapped at the blond beta—Hawkeye, your memory supplied— once for putting a soft blanket on the pile with the not soft blankets. He immediately gave an apologetic burr to which your hindbrain purred back instinctually; evidently a good reaction.
“Why does she like Clint? They haven’t even spoken.”
“She doesn’t like him, she snarled at him!”
“She hasn’t purred at anyone else!”
“Shut up, fuckin’ idiot.”
The noise you made was one of discontent and disdain, the arguing deltas immediately quieting. You didn’t argue with the chirping growl that meant displeased omega, not in a real pack where the goal was to keep omegas pleased and docile. Somewhere your brain reminded you that this wasn’t your pack but the alpha hormones filling your blood and confusing you and yet somehow all you could focus on was whining and pushing at pack members to get them out of the way as your rearranged; clicking your teeth grumpily when you were handed a blanket instead of a pillow or vice versa.
You found yourself being corralled back into the corner, where Natasha and Wanda immediately wrapped themselves around you. Thor had found Bruce and settled beside and settled near your feet where you’d built an intricate nest wall of pillows and blankets. Two of the deltas, Tony and Loki seemed to be glaring at each other—even as Tony laid himself completely on top of the other and they both relaxed into comfortable holds.
It was interesting, watching the pack dynamics as they moved between each other. Clint wrapped around Natasha from behind the same way Carol found her way behind Wanda. Peter had weaseled his way into curling against Loki’s side while tossing a leg over the man’s hip, subsequently laying it over the backs of Tony’s thighs. Sam, Bucky and Steve all found their way into a neat grouping on the bed closest to the stairs, piled as close to the subsequent piles of superheros as possible.
There was some sort of pattern beginning to form in the back of your brain but you were still too confused, too sucked into your own omega hindbrain by the overwhelming introduction of alpha hormone to your system. Instead of following the thought through to the end, you found yourself warm and comfortable and full and falling asleep tucked between the groupings of presentations as if it wasn’t totally, 100% against your will.

Not just a soft princess - Azula x female reader imagine: Part Four
You are torn between your growing feelings for Azula and the fact you can’t forget all the harm she’s done in the past but if one place can help you think it’s the Ember Islands.
Part one here
Part two here
Part three here
Part five here
Part six here
Your POV
You arrived on the island early in the morning after travelling all night and you mind has been occupied by Azula the whole way. You’d liked a handful of girls before but none of them ever made you feel as excited and happy as Azula and that kiss....but you also couldn’t stop that surging guilt that followed every fond thought of Azula you had. She was the reason you were here and not in your city. You’d heard your people were fine but you couldn’t be sure. For all you knew Azula had laid waste to your city and spared the dai li and you just because you appealed to her. You didn’t believe that at all but every time she looked at you the thought flickered into the back of your mind and you were struggling to see anything else.
To make matters worse Azula was evidently still experiencing the bliss you had yesterday and was being coy and attentive to you. As the island came into view she appeared at your elbow smiling “it has only just occurred to me that all your clothes we brought are useless, here you cannot wear green as we are supposed to blend in”. “Ow...what will we do?”. Azula shrugged “I’ve sent a messenger hawk back to the palace asking them to send some clothes and I sent one ahead asking for some to be purchased for you until they arrive. All red of course” Azula smiled and looked at you waiting for a reaction. You knew she expected some playful banter like before but you just weren’t feeling it today. “Thanks” you nodded and you saw Azula hesitate, her smile fell away and you felt the familiar conflict rise. “I mean it, thank you” you smiled squeezing her hand before stepping away to go sit next to Ty lee. You saw the confused and almost hurt look on Azula’s face and had to look away...of all the times to be sent on a holiday together why did it have to be now?
As the day went on your resolve to stay away from Azula slipped further and further away. On the beach you watched amused as Azula complained about everything and noticed how adorable she looked when angry. Ty lee and Mai had abandoned the two of you so you were alone together and it was hard not to become swept up in your feelings. A guy had offered to help you lay out your towel and when you dismissed him abruptly Azula’s lazy smile made you feel weak. So you were already slipping and then Azula decided to show off her athletic side. You’d never played volleyball before so Azula said you could just watch. So you did just that and found yourself enjoying the show nicely. Azula was obliterating the competition and your jaw actually hung open as she kicked the ball so hard it caught fire before ripping through the net and sending the other team flying. You watched her, the net around her still smouldering and had to look away, you could’ve sworn she was doing it on purpose. You smiled admiring how happy she looked before that thought flickered in your mind again and you looked down with a heavy sigh.
Azula’s POV
Azula felt the thrill of her victory as she glowered over the other team informing them of their shame in case they didn’t already know. She was feeling good and confident. Something had been off with you all day but she’s noticed you watching her in the game so she knew your attraction to her was still there. However when she glanced back at you after the game was over she saw you weren’t even watching. You were tracing the sand a large worried frown on your face. Azula’s smile fell away as she watched you. What was upsetting you? Had her father done something? Zuko? You glanced up and as soon as you met Azula’s eye you looked away. So it was her Azula realised. She was the reason you were upset. Azula had no idea what she’d done and suddenly felt a surge of anger. How dare you be mad at her! After all she’d done to save your life, what could you possibly have against her? But as Azula’s heart continued to hammer she realised she wasn’t angry, not really, she was upset. She felt worried you didn’t like her anymore, embarrassed at the idea that like everyone else you’d realised she wasn’t good enough but overshadowing all of that was just a sinking sad feeling. She’d been ecstatic when you made the first move and actually went out of your way to show her you liked her. She’d felt excited and just joyously happy and then...then it all went away and Azula couldn’t figure out why. She didn’t know how she’d messed this up too but she knew it was her fault. It always was.
Your POV
After the show on the beach you got invited to a party. You didn’t want to go but Ty lee insisted you had to and so you obediently agreed. You and Azula had by chance got stuck sharing a room and the tension in the air as you got ready was painful. Azula had evidently caught onto your caution and she had been off with you and everyone ever since. You hated thinking about how just a few hours ago she’d been blissfully happy and now she just looked blank. Her face was a mask and you couldn’t tell if she was holding back anger or sadness. Either one was bad but you hoped it was anger, the thought you’d made her sad...that hurt.
You and Azula finished getting ready first and if sharing a room in tense silence wasn’t bad enough she caught you waiting by the door to leave. Azula came around the corner and you jumped as she spotted you. It would’ve been awkward for Azula to retreat and so instead she leant against the wall but kept her distance from you. “I guess we’re the first ones ready” you commented and Azula nodded “looks like it”. She tried to act unbothered and cold but you could tell it was an act, the fact she seemed unable to look you in the eye proved that. Unable to keep this up any longer you sighed “Azula I need to talk to you”. Azula immediately straightened and looked around to make sure nobody was around “no not here”. “But it’s important!” you tried but she shook her head “no y/n!”. You sighed and went to argue when the others appeared. “There you two are! You both said you didn’t want to go and you’re the first one’s ready! I bet you’re secretly excited aren’t you?” Ty lee asked and Azula rolled her eyes “I can assure you I am not” and she stormed past you out the front door.
As soon as you got to the party Azula headed as far away from you as she could and you watched her with a sad look. “Has something happen with you two?” Mai asked and you quickly shook away your expression and smiled “no of course not, Ty lee want to get a drink with me?”. “Okay!” Ty lee agreed and you rushed off with her hoping the peppy acrobat would take your mind off Azula.
Your plan failed. Ty lee was soon side-tracked by a swarm of men and you struggled not to show your contempt for them. They gradually worked you out from your spot next to Ty lee and you just accepted it, watching the party alone or more accurately watching Azula. The party wasn’t so big she could totally avoid you and so you’d gotten glimpses of her all night. Watching Azula pretend to be a normal teenager was oddly endearing. You watched her glare at anyone who passed her while also staring longingly at the happy teenagers. Her posture and expression got worse as time went on and you worked out she was having just as bad a time as you. You were contemplating going over to her when a man knocked into her. Azula had him twisted painfully against the wall, arm behind him in a tight lock, seconds later “you made me spill my drink you clumsy oaf!” she yelled. “Sorry” the boy babbled and she rolled her eyes in disgust before letting him go. The boy rushed away and Azula sighed “idiot”. Azula saw you smiling and her own eyes softened too. You thought she was going to smile too but she just ripped her eyes away from you and walked away.
She went to the drinks to grab some napkins to clean the mess that boy had made. You saw her sigh as only one napkin was left and she angrily attempted to use the single one to mop herself up. You saw some on a nearby table and grabbed them going over. “Here” you offered. Azula glanced at them before looking away “i’m fine”. You sighed “Azula just take them...”. “I said i’m fine” Azula snapped and you ran a hand through your hair. “I know you’re angry at me but please can we just talk? Can you give my 5 minutes to just explain?”. “Fine” Azula said suddenly making you jump “but not here” and she took off for the front door rapidly. You rushed after her and followed her as she made her way outside. She found a place far enough away from the house and then spun on you “talk”. Her tone was sharp and her body language intimidating but you weren’t scared or worried, just sad. "So you’ve probably noticed I’ve been off since we got here”. “That’s an understatement” Azula snapped “you practically flinch whenever i’m near you, you smile at me one moment and then can’t bare to even meet my eye the next” Azula spat “yes you’ve been off”. You sighed “I know I’ve been cold and I’m sorry I didn’t mean to....let me just start from the beginning”.
"So after i kissed you, i was ecstatic because i really like you" you started and Azula looked away her cheeks slightly pink "but then i started thinking...what my nation would think. Was I betraying them by liking you? You’re kind and nice to me but are you like that to everyone else? I started worrying I didn’t really know you and that I was being naive...I mean you took over my country and i was running around the palace with you" you sighed "and i know you only did that for your father but does that make it better?". Azula paused "well it was a war y/n casualties are a given". "Yes but we never started or engaged in the war, our crime was existing". "You don’t think Long Feng knew?” Azula asked. "He knew but he didn’t do anything to provoke an attack! All we did was take in refugees, we got attacked for no other reason, i’m technically your prisoner and i’m here admiring how you play volleyball" you sighed "it’s just a lot to process and so that’s why I’ve been so distant, I’m just trying to work out what I should be feeling and what I owe my people". Azula was quiet for some time before speaking "i don’t regret any of the thing i’ve done, to your home or you, i would do them again and i think if you were in my shoes you would too but i do regret that they hurt you” Azula said carefully "i’d hoped to have minimised that for you but i see i haven’t...I am sorry for that and that you’re upset. I like you too and even though i just said all that about what i’ve done to your home i do wish i didn’t have to do it...that it didn’t have to happen like that but the fact is it did happen. I don’t know what this means or where it leaves us but that’s my honest opinion". You looked at Azula unsure what to say. She was trying but was it enough when by her own admission she’d do it again? You sighed "i think i just need some space i like you but i’m not sure i should, so i need to think about that". Azula didn’t react she just nodded her head and left. Her reaction was a lot better than what you’d expected so why did you feel so guilty? You thought after you’d explained yourself to her you’d feel better but if anything it just made you feel more miserable.
You didn’t see Azula the rest of the party and figured she was avoiding you. When Mai grabbed you and told you see wanted to leave you were only too happy to oblige, but Ty lee suggested you go down to the beach and so you ended up doing that instead. When you spotted Azula and Zuko there both you and Mai tensed but you still walked to the campfire seeing no way to avoid this without being obvious. Maybe it wouldn’t be so awkward?
Of course it was.
The atmosphere was already tense due to Zuko and Mai’s break up and you and Azula just added to that. Mai and Zuko were glaring at each other while you and Azula stared anywhere but at each other. The atmosphere was so tense you weren’t surprised arguments soon broke out. Ty lee had been chattering awkwardly and Zuko got annoyed and snapped her. You listened to what he was saying to her and eventually your anger peaked. “Circus freak” Zuko spat at her and you glared. “Don’t call her that” you said annoyed. Ty lee looked so hurt by his words it made you furious “don’t lash out at her just because you’re feeling trapped”. “Trapped” Zuko asked “that’s rich coming from you...prisoner” Zuko glared and you raised your eyebrows surprised. You went to argue back when someone else intervened. “Don’t talk to her that way” Azula said suddenly and Zuko looked at her out of the corner of his eyes “why? because she’s your special play thing?”. “Because she’s a princess and deserves respect”. “Like you’ve ever shown anyone respect, you’re just saying that because you have a thing for her, don’t you?”. “Zuko...” Mai tried to warn him but Zuko shook his head “no we’ve all seen how she looks at y/n, for her to try and pretend she’s being nice to her for any other reason is ridiculous. Like Azula is anything but selfish and cruel! Why do you think our own mother feared you?”. “I don’t care about what your mother thought of me so that is irrelevant but so what if i like y/n?” Azula asked standing up and Zuko paused “what?”. “You said I have a thing for y/n and you’re right. I like y/n, i give her special treatment because she’s important to me so yes i’m selfish but can you say you don’t do the same? You put mom on a pedestal when she wasn’t a good mother, you strop behind father’s back but would never dare say anything to his face and you mope around Mai like a child with his favourite toy nobody else can touch, you’re not so noble big brother so I suggest you stop acting like it”. Azula and Zuko glowered at one another inches away from each other and you exchanged a look with Mai and Ty lee. “Zuko” Mai said and you stood up too “Azula...”. Zuko looked at Mai but Azula didn’t stop glaring at Zuko until Mai had pulled him out of her sight. Mai led Zuko away from the campfire but Azula didn’t move, she just stood there glaring at the ocean. You and Ty lee looked at one another and you could tell Ty lee was wondering what you wanted her to do. You nodded for her to follow Zuko and Mai and she did leaving you all alone.
Apart from Azula.
You turned back to her and watched as she stared out at the sea, almost refusing to turn back around. You knew she was aware you were there but still she stared off at the horizon clearly just ignoring your presence. You waited a while to see if she’d speak first or tell you to go away but when she didn’t you sighed and started to speak. “Azula I...” you started but she cut you off. "What do you want y/n?” she asked and you could hear the tired tone of her voice, the mask she’d been wearing all day was breaking. “I just wanted to thank you for what you said to Zuko...”. “I didn’t say all that to make you change your mind". "I know" you said "but still you stood up for me when you didn’t have to...thank you". Azula shrugged "he shouldn’t talk to you that way ever...nobody should". Azula turned around but she still wouldn’t look at you, she crossed her arms tightly and stared at the ground. "Azula i...i should've said something when he said those things to you, i should’ve stood up for you". Azula shrugged "i’m good at defending myself". "I know but you shouldn’t always have to!". Hearing what her relationship with her mother was like made you realise just how self reliant Azula was, her mother feared her and her father used her, did either of them just care or love her? Had anyone ever just cared for her? Azula glanced at you and she winced when she saw your expression "don’t look at me like that". "Like what?". "Like you feel bad for me just because of what Zuko said! I am fine y/n, i’ve always been fine don’t you dare pity me". "I don’t pity you". "Yes you do i can see it in your eyes". "I don’t" you said loudly "i just care about you a lot". "Yeah but you hate me more I got all that from your speech back at the party". "I don’t hate you i’m not sure i ever could" you said softly "I do hate and fear the fire nation and worry about my place there and my country and my citizens...but none of that overshadows how much i like you Azula" you stepped closer. "I like you a lot" you said simply and Azula rolled her eyes "we already did all of this you like me but you have your duty blah blah". "Forget all that" you said sharply and Azula looked at you "what?". "I’m sick of prioritising what other people think...putting what they’d expect of me before what I want! Can't i just be selfish? Can’t i have what i want?". Azula paused "and what you want is me?". You nodded your head "yes fire nation and all". You weren’t sure what it was that made you come to this realisation but as you said it, it felt right. “I know the situation i’m in...some people might think it’s weird or that it’s wrong of me to like you but I don’t care” you shrugged “you’re the only person in this whole nation who I smile when I see, who helped protect me and makes me happy, who I get excited just thinking about” you smiled “so i’d like to carry on what we started if you would?”. You stared at Azula and time seemed to endlessly drone on as you waited for her to do or say anything but after an eternity she smiled. “You should know i don’t give out many second chances" Azula smirked taking your hand. “Really? Well I guess i’m pretty lucky then”. Azula nodded her head “you definitely are but not just for me forgiving you”. “Why then?” you asked and Azula smiled “this” and crashed her lips against yours.
***
You laid in the sand staring up at the sky as the waves leapt at your feet. It was cold but Azula gave off heat so you were comfortable. Azula was laying against your chest and you held her gently. Neither of you had left this exact spot despite the time that had passed and you couldn’t imagine disentangling yourselves for anything. Everything about this was just perfect. Azula evidently thought so too. "When we go back to the fire nation we’ll find the time for more occasions like this" Azula told you. You looked down at her "we will?". "Of course" Azula replied looking up at you "i’ll just tell them it is extra sparring lessons...it won’t be far from the truth". You smiled "that’s true" and Azula grinned before glancing at your lips again. She leant in and you prepared yourself for how amazing it would feel when cold water splashed over you. You and Azula both jumped up in shock as a wave washed over you. "The damn tides!" Azula cried and you laughed "come on let’s go!". You took Azula’s hand and rushed for the path leading to the house. You both ran up to the house freezing cold and as soon as you were inside rushed to the fire. Azula fuelled it more and you both crouched before it laughing. Azula stopped laughing and just sat back and admired you. You blushed when you realised what she was doing and stood up "shall we go to our room?". Azula nodded taking your hand "i thought you’d never ask".

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫: 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
(Jean x fem!/reader) -> (supposed to be angst but...major fluff) -> 4.9k
Notes: This chapter is a little longer, there’s an extra cut at the end, and loads of fluff! Hope you enjoy and chapter five is yet to come!! ^^
Ⅲ > Ⅴ
Jean stood there shocked at the corpse that lay in front of him. How did this even happen? Marco wasn’t that far the last time he checked.
“Is that...Marco?...”
He stood there petrified as his hand clenched. How could this have happened in such a short time?...a lady then asked for his name. Jean was very deep into thought, but eventually gave in.
“Marco...Marco Boddt.”
“Thank you young man.”
---
You left the place where you were last standing. You were still upset because of what happened, but decided to let that go as you watched Jean. He seemed so...helpless. You didn’t need to know much to understand that someone probably died...and Marco if anything (since he wanted to go and check on him).
Instead of forcing him to tell you anything, you put your hand on his shoulder. It showed comfort from a distance which gave enough space. He seemed grateful for your gesture, and looked back at you. Teary eyed, he placed his calloused hand onto yours. The Bonfire was now taking place, and you brought him to an area where you both could sit.
Jean hugged his two knees together, and yet still managed to hold your hand. You didn’t move it though, knowing it was helping him cope.
Sasha and Connie joined not much later, and you all huddled together. You felt the sorrow they expressed and well...you felt such sadness as well. You may have not known everyone, but Marco was still a dear friend to you, heck most of the people in your squad (being Eren, Mikasa, Ymir, etc) were somewhat dear to you. You just, never let them get too close was all. You wished you had let Marco at least. He had always reminded you of Bertholdt...except...he was more optimistic and confident. You truly did enjoy his company, and were sad that it was now gone.
As you all sat, you then saw Bertholdt who stood alone. You sighed as you got up, slipping out of Jean’s grip, on your way to Bertholdt. Yes you were still very angry at him (along with the other two), but you’ve always had a soft spot for Bertholdt. Since he was like an older brother, you could never not forgive him. As soon as you reached him, you gave him a hug. He returned the favour as you whispered:
“Thank you...for warning me in advance. Honestly, I’m still pissed off that you guys didn’t say anything, and did things without my input. But at the same time, your advice did save my behind...somehow,” you chuckled as he nodded.
“I’m sorry Y/n...in truth, I should’ve stayed quiet...but I knew I needed to do something.”
“Yeah...just...no more secrets. Okay?...” he stood there as you sighed yet again.
“Let’s go,” on your way back, you hear as the two teased Jean.
Halfway through, Bertholdt stopped and told you he needed to meet with Reiner, whereas Jean had noticed your presence and tried pushing the two away.
“Ahhh, so that’s your competition. Although, I don’t think incest is a good idea-”
“He’s not her actual brother...idiot,” Sasha scolded which caused the two to argue.
“Guys, shut up. Y/n is coming,” they both quiet down as you approached, smirking at each other in “secrecy.”
You sat beside Jean still concerned. He seemed to relax a little now that you were beside him. That being the case, you finally asked:
“So, how are you feeling?” he looked at you, and then your hands.
“Ah yeah...I’m feeling better,” he cleared his voice. He looked shy for some reason...maybe it wasn’t that, but him being vulnerable?
“What about you?...I know Marco was also a good friend of yours.”
“Hmm...honestly, I miss him a lot. If he were here, he would say something motivating, inspirational even. I wish I got to know him a lot better seeing how nice he was. Well...regardless...I’ll make sure that lives like his don’t go in vain.”
“Mhm,” you scooched in closer.
“Are you still going to join the military police?” you asked as he looked troubled. Maybe he wanted to join the Garrison? You stretched your arms as he stared you down.
“If it helps, I’m joining the Survey Corps.”
“What, why?” a tone of concern splashed over as you eyed him.
“Well...I think everyone...deserves a fair chance...a fair chance at life. And if titans are the obstacles weighing down that opportunity, then I'll try doing anything that will help you guys get one step closer...I really will.”
If only you could do this back at home, in Marely. But killing off titans would never be the answer, not there at least. The heavy boulders they placed on each, and everyone of your shoulders, would never allow the chance of a fair life. One that you have always wanted. So if you couldn’t live out that dream (for yourself at least), you would try to help those here.
At first, you would never have thought to do such a thing, but as time passed, you accepted this place as one with just as many problems as your own. They weren’t that different, except Paradis had a better chance at a newer start. You then looked up to see the stars glisten so freely. One day, you hoped you would be able to as your hand reached for the sky.
“I think...I think I know what I want to do, thanks for that,” honestly, you had hoped he would pick the Mountain Police. It was a lot safer compared to the corpse, and well...it was something he had always gravitated towards. You didn’t want him to die out there...you couldn’t imagine him doing so.
Something you found a little funny was the difference between Jean and Bertholdt. Bertholdt and you were very close, and you would never want him to die. But if he ever did, you were prepared for such an event. But imagining Jean going through death was something that you couldn’t even bring up. You knew Jean was somewhat special to you, but in what way exactly? Maybe in a...no. You couldn’t. You couldn’t think such thoughts.
“Here, we should get going,” he offers his hand and helps you up.
You both walked to your quarters. While doing so, you could see that Jean seemed on edge. You weren’t sure as to why, but by the time you reached the door, all you could do was stare. It seemed as if both of you needed something...but the real question was “what?” What did you both need.
He then put his hand in his pockets, looking downwards as he mumbled the words:
“Well...goodnight.”
“Night.”
He started to make his way, and so did you. Before you could close the door, he caught it mid-way exclaiming:
“Y/n, wait!”
He gives you a small violet. It was a little roughed up (due to his pockets) but you admired it anyway. The way the petals clung, and they way he looked so disappointed in himself (for roughing it up) made you smile. You then put it on top of your right ear, adjusting it the best you could without a mirror, to then asked:
“Does it look good?” he moved it once more and swept a strand of your hair.
“Yeah, much better,” he then drew back quickly as you felt your heartbeat.
“Sleep well, okay? Jean?”
“Yeah, you too.”
---
It was finally the day where everyone had chosen their regiment. Annie ended up joining the mountain police. Based on what they told you, she would be a spy from a different (and more “important”) standpoint. Jean however, decided on the scout regiment, along with the rest of your friends.
“Jean, are you sure? The interior is a lot safer if anything, you should go before it’s too late-”
“You can’t convince me otherwise,” he winked as you shook your head.
“Plus, I can’t let you guys have all of the fun, killing titans? Yeah right, also, I won’t let Eren beat me.”
‘Oh...he must mean Mikasa,’ you thought.
At this point in time, you decided to accept that you had feelings for Jean. Though it was hard at first (because of your boundaries), you eventually gave in with each moment you spent. You were smitten with his charms, laugh, and smile. They kept drawing you in and never disappoint.
You weren’t going to lie, you were scared. Not only were your walls down to such an extent, but you were getting so attached to Paradis. Him just being one of the sources of that connection. It terrified you alright, but that warmth Jean gave, comforted you instead.
The way he would always tease you, make your day brighter, and just grab your attention in general, made you happy. But what kept you anchored was both your fears, and reality. Hearing that he wanted to beat Eren, reminded yet again as to who he liked. Mikasa. Even though you knew she loved the hot head, Jean liked her, and if you could support him, that’s all that mattered.
You crossed your arms in disappointment.
“If you want to beat him, there are so many other ways.”
“Like?”
“Your looks?” you both stood there in an awkward silence. He then tried to laugh things off.
“Okay okay, I’ll be truthful, I can’t let you go out there alone-”
“I have Reiner and Bertholdt-”
“Nonsense, you may have those two, but you’ll need a Jean as well.” You laughed at his remark and so did he.
“No but...being a part of the interior would be a safer option, plus...isn’t that what you’ve always gone for?”
He looked back at the others and said: “Yeah but, now this is what I’m going for,” you smiled a little worried, but knowing Jean, you guys could pull through together (hopefully).
Erwin said the last of his congratulatory speech, and you all headed for the stables. You were getting ready for the expedition that was yet to come. You watched as Eren, Mikasa, and Armin grouped together. You and Jean had just started walking, so the others (along with the trio) were in front of you.
“So, you’re telling me that you’ve all decided to join the corps?”
“Of course, why else would we be here?”
“Then Jean, Marco, and Annie joined the interior?-”
Jean then appeared in front of them along with you.
“Marco’s dead.” he said bluntly. Eren looked very shocked.
“Marco’s not, you must be joking-”
“Yes...he is…” you ensure as your arms crossed.
“I wish I could say I wasn’t, but he is.”
Your cloaks were then given out. “The wings of freedom…” Hopefully, one day, you could grasp onto that feeling along with the people who stood beside you.
---
“Listen Mikasa, unlike you we’re not willing to just throw our lives away for Eren.”
“We need a reason so we don’t hesitate when the time comes.”
“Show us your worth.”
You felt guilty while listening to this. Yes, you would “try” to sacrifice yourself for any comerdae, but when it came to Eren, it would probably be best if another titan ate him (you cherished him as you friend, but also acknowledged him as your enemy).
Yes, it may sound cruel, but your mission would be back in operation if he did so...but then again, did you really want to succeed in such a cause? The look on Reiner’s face reminded you of what your purpose was, and you sat there composed as Jean went on.
You admired his character. He really had grown up a lot during the time he’s spent here. Everyone agreed with his statements whereas Eren took it as a hard pill to swallow. You then all went to your horses (needed for the expedition) and started preparing for the fight ahead.
He was saddling up and looked over at your side, you caught him in the act and made a face. He made things so obvious which amused you. He shot up immediately as you proceeded to tease him.
Show us your worth,” you playfully said while giving him a dramatic stare.
“H-Hey! I did my best, quit yapping,” you both laughed as he came up and pulled you in by your belt. You were baffled (and flustered) to then see him tighten your buckle.
“Just in case...I can’t lose you to another incident...like I almost did last time.”
He probably said that due to the fact Marco was now gone...you nodded and grabbed his hand before it left you, shaking it. He was a little confused, but then heard the words:
“You can trust me, so don’t you dare wipe my trust away,” he chuckled at what you said and tightened his grip.
“I won’t. So stay safe out there, okay?”
“I will, and you better as well-”
“OhOho, am I intruding on this lover’s quarrel? I sincerely apologize with my utmost apology,” Connie teased as Sasha joined in:
“Jean, how dare you. Stealing my girl away? You can’t! She makes the best pancakes there are! Don’t do this to me!” Sasha sobbed as Jean turned red
“OH SHUT UP!”
To your surprise, Reiner jumped in.
“They have a point, if you’re going to take our Y/n away, you better have our approval if anything. Remember, no sneaking out past 9-”
“Says you,” you scowled as he laughed. You have to admit, when Reiner was in his warrior mode, you hated it. He was such a jerk and you needed that personality to disappear, and be on its way. But when he was himself, he was genuinely kind. Yet every kind smile had it’s fair share of frowns. You still wanted to know more about him, and hey, if this Island deserved a chance, so did he.
“I, ugh. Let’s get going, I don’t need a lecture from Captain Levi.”
You laughed and followed along with everyone else.
Jean POV
I liked Y/n...if you couldn’t tell by now. I knew I could make things obvious, but was pretty sure I could cover up my tracks. I’d say I’m pretty good at that...yeah…. Well, regardless, I’ve known for a little while, but wouldn’t say it’s been a very long time.
Even though I had confronted my own feelings, I never tried doing the opposite. It’s not that I didn’t want to confess, rather, some things held me back. One: there’s never been a good time to say anything. As of recently, things have been so hectic and well, Y/n and I have barely gotten any alone time. Two: I was a little insecure when I started liking her. There were just so many other guys who seemed more beneficial than me...even EREN if I had to admit...no...I take that last part back. Lastly, three: I didn’t want my feelings to ruin our friendship.
I really did like her though. Also, I’m not going to deny that I did have a thing for Mikasa (way back when), but after getting to know Y/n better (and myself in general), that feeling of pure attraction faded away. She’s a nice girl, but not my type of woman (whereas Y/n was).
I heard the war cries of those beside, behind, and in front of me. Each filled with ambition along with mine. Not knowing if this would be their last day, or if there would be a tomorrow, made their yells and screams even louder.
I watched as everyone around me poured their hearts into their calls, while Y/n simply sat there, prepping for the battle ahead. From an outsider’s perspective, she might have looked scared, but knowing her, she was just focused. Trying to get a piece of mind before another war commenced.
I rode off with my squad, things were going according to plan until titans started showing up one, after another. Luckily I was able to escape in the midst of it all. Though terrified, I tried my best to keep myself level headed. Even so, I almost died in the process. A titan was on its way to crush both my horse and I, but one of my cremates killed it. Unfortunately, the next titan to come took him out as I ran.
` I was then riding on my own, hoping I could scope out Y/n if the chance was given. I searched everywhere while riding faster, and faster. Although no traces were found, I did bump into Reiner, Armin, and a large titan.
“Why is she running infront of us?”
Armin then explained his theory, about someone else hosting the controls of that titan. Although I wanted to think of something else, I couldn’t just disregard his statement. This being the case, next thing you knew, I was a diversion trying to get the best of the female titan. I swung from her backside trying to get to her nape, but she protected it as I flew.
To my failure, Reiner decided to be a suicidal maniac (yet again) and plunged straight towards her.
“You maniac-” only seconds later, did he escape and we were on our way to find a safe zone.
We ended up going to a remote place with no titans, a couple of trees, and well...ourselves (along with the horses). We sat there hopeless wondering about what our next move would be.
‘I wonder where Y/n is…no...we need to find a way to get out of here first, then I can think about her…’
“Only two horses eh...I guess one-”
“Jean, I found your horse while riding. It seemed terrified.”
“My horse, Buchwald!” I calmed him down by brushing on his mane.
“I’m surprised you came," Reiner said to Christa.
“Well, I wasnt too far and had Jean’s horse as well. I simply followed it, and it led me to you guys.”
“Wait, Christa, did you happen to see Y/n by any chance?” I asked worried and she thought to herself.
“Hmmm, last time I recalled, she went west from my squad. I haven’t seen her since but, if she’s with Ymir, she should be fine!! Don’t worry too much.”
Even though I felt uneasy, Christa’s gratefulness (towards us being alive) took my mind off of things. We then started to ride around the field, looking for any squad nearby. Luckily, we spot one in the nick of time, and join them.
---
“Yeah, I’m sure the commander is looking for shade, that way, he can set up a picnic for his scouts.”
“That’s very...unlikely,” Armin replied.
‘Great, we have to sit in these trees for gosh knows how long. This is going to be a pain,’ I swung along with the others.
Titans sprawled all around us and we all sat waiting for other orders. Not only wasI agitated at that, but also at the fact I haven’t seen Y/n even once. Where could she have gone? Last time I saw, she didn’t venture too far from me...well...that was at the entrance, so who am I kidding.
I looked around the trees to see many cadets, but not Y/n. Armin caught me doing so, and sighed as I then looked back at him.
“What?”
“You’re worried about Y/n-”
“Maybe I should use my ODM gear to look for her-”
“Jean,” Armin interrupted.
“I’m sure she’s fine, she’s with her comrades. Plus, have a little faith in her. She’s a fighter you know?” he smiled as I sighed.
“Yeah...she is...really is,” I then grinned hoping that...she still was one...literally.
“It’s not that though...I just...don’t trust her surroundings,” I peered down and saw almost a dozen titans. Armin nodded and then said:
“Yeah, and we shouldn’t either.”
I started to think to myself. I knew he meant that in a more “literal” way, but looking at it in a “metaphorical” stance, got me thinking differently. I know I’ve gotten to “know” Y/n during the time given, but have I really gotten to “know” her?
I think I did?...but then again, Y/n has always had a side I’ve never been able to reach. You know, she’s always talked about finding freedom for others, giving them the chances they deserved...but never talked about what she wanted. I hoped...truly hoped that maybe I could help her reach that feeling as well.
---
We all retreat in failure. The female titan had gotten away, and now here we were. So many lives lost for such a useless operation.
‘No Jean...let’s not think like that...I wonder where Y/n is,” I started riding faster to the front of the brigade, hoping I could find her.
I passed horse by horse, person by person, yet to my dismay...nothing. I broke a sweat while riding to see Ymir. Reminding myself as to what Christa had said, I approached and asked:
“Where’s Y/n?”
“Ah, she’s in the cart over there. Don’t cry too much,” she smirked as my eyes widened.
‘Why the hell was she laughing?...the hell is wrong with her?...’
I rode towards the cart Ymir pointed to. I didn’t think to look through any, because I had assumed she would be alive. I gave myself a moment to prepare myself for the worst. Even though I did so, I knew nothing would be able to prepare myself for her death...never…. I could feel my eyes water, still shut, ready to open until I heard a voice.
“Jean?”
“Y/N!? YOU’RE ALIVE!?” my eyes widened almost immediately.
“Yeah...I lost my horse and hurt my ankle during the process. Ymir basically carried me the entire time, but once we had decided to retreat, I told her to drop me off here.”
‘That wench-damn, she really got me thinking differently,’ I sighed and nodded my head.
“Are you okay though?”
“Yeah, it’s nothing to, ouch-” she winced and my reaction was to swoop in, but I pulled back as she adjusted the cloth given.
“Okay then...I’ll ride beside you until we get back,” the person riding the horse then winked at me and I panicked.
Hoping Y/n didn’t see, she grinned saying: “Alright, don’t miss me too much though.”
“Haha, I won’t.”
‘Because I already have...so much…’
Original POV
When you had gotten in the walls, you weren’t welcomed with the best greeting. Jean had made it his priority to shield you, and you were grateful for that. As soon as you made it back to the stables, before the medical team could take you, Jean insisted he would instead.
You weren’t exactly sure as to why, but you didn’t oppose it. He carried you by resting his right hand under you, and his left behind you, making sure he didn’t crush your legs in the process.
“Could you...um...cling onto me?” you quickly draped your arms around his neck as he started walking. It only felt like seconds before you both appeared at a field. Tall grass roamed everywhere, along with an assortment of both insects, and flowers (more grass if anything though).
He analyzed the area to then shake his head.
“Ah, I’m really bad at this,” he muttered.
“Sorry…” he placed you on the ground (gently) and then took off his cape. After doing so, he then placed you on top of his cloak, and you giggled.
You wouldn’t deny that it was cute. Even though your clothes were splattered in blood, he still put in the effort so you wouldn't dirty yourself even more. He seemed very stiff, it looked as if he was nervous. You weren’t sure as to why exactly, but regardless, you gave him the time he needed to adjust. You teasingly patted to your left, and he quickly moved over to sit. You let out a small laugh at his attempt, which put him at ease.
“It’s very pretty.”
“Not as pretty as you are.”
“I’m sorry, what?-”
“I-I mean, well...UGH DAMN IT!”
You sat there stunned. Did he really meant what he said? You looked at him shyly as he started to mumble to himself. What if he did really mean it?...But Mikasa?...you were so confused. Very actually. He exhaled and looked back at you.
“Is your ankle feeling better?”
“Yeah...I guess so,” you both sat in silence, until he said:
“Y/n...you’re a good friend,” all optimism had gone down the roof as you sat there confirming your thoughts about him, and Mikasa. He could tell the mood had instantly changed, and tried fixing it.
“No, wait, that’s not what I mean damn it. Here goes nothing...Y/n...I like you...like you a lot to the point it drives me crazy. I couldn’t stop thinking about you throughout the entire expedition. Wondering if you were safe or not...if I would make it out alive in time...”
“You know, originally, I had thought that I would need the right time to tell you how I felt, but I soon realized that time wasn’t going to wait for me. It may sound a little cheesy, but we could die today or tomorrow. That being the case, I needed to tell you as soon as I could.”
You looked at him as his expression had softened. Although he was looking at the sun setting in front of you, you could tell his heart was seeking elsewhere. That place being you. This feeling... the warmth...it felt so familiar, but instead of feeling foreign, it felt natural. You gazed as fingers played with the grass that lay beside you.
You felt as ease knowing that he liked you back, and that the Mikasa ordeal was over with...hopefully...since that doubt still ran through your mind, you asked:
“Wait, you do?-”
“Before you say anything, I need to prepare myself.”
“For?”
“Rejection.”
“What?” you laughed as he closed his eyes.
“Of course, only a girl such as yourself would give up on this beautiful masterpiece. That’s how special you are.” he winked as you rolled your eyes.
“No but...I am being serious. Although I confronted that way I felt not too long ago, I’ve always had this lingering feeling in my gut...for you…” he blushed and you followed. But just to make sure:
“What about Mikasa? Didn’t you want to beat Eren?...what happened to that.” a little scared for his response, he said:
“Oh, I meant in general. I gotta try and surpass him at least. He may be a titan but well...I’m Jean,” you both laughed.
“So...what about you?”
“I...can’t...I like someone else…”
He paused, shocked. Sure rejection was one thing, but thinking you liked someone else made his heart sink.
“It’s Bertholdt I’m assuming?..”
You shook your head.
“AHH DON’T TELL ME IT’S EREN!!” you laughed and kissed his cheek. You could feel his face burn up after you doing so.
“No, I’m just kidding. I like you too, a lot...a lot more than you know.”
He held his cheek for a moment, it almost seemed as if...he wasn’t functioning (A/N: ExE JEaN hAS StopPEd WorkiNg). He then looked at you shocked, and beamed brightly (to the point it was blinding, but in a good way).
“You mean it!?”
“Of course-WOAH!”
He lifted you up out of joy, you winced a bit (bc of your ankle) and he immediately stopped. He’s a tad worried (but more excited) and immediately asked: “sorry, you okay?”
“Y-yeah,” the cape that was draped around you, was now wrapped around your figure since he adjusted it. He then puts his head in the crook of your neck and said: “thank you Y/n…”
“For what exactly?...”
“For not rejecting me,” you laughed and you could feel him smile on you.
“No but in all honesty, for being there. You’ve always had my back in times where I never knew I needed it. Humbled me when I should’ve done so myself, and cared for me when I was reckless. And now...you’ve given me the best gift I could ever have.”
“That being?”
“You of course.”
Your smile softened as you kissed his cheek yet again, making his head raise, meeting eye to eye.
“You’re one of, if not the best thing that’s ever happened to me...Jean”

He (being Connie) then rats everyone out and they come forth (with such spying eyes)
Eren then yells: “SO ARE YOU GUYS DATING NOW, OR WHAT!? WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOREVER!”
“WHAT!?” you both exclaim

Christa looking like a saint blessing a marriage between two doves
Ymir: “y’all ain't slick, that’s all imma say.”
Bertholdt be giving older brother vibes, and don’t say anything. Reiner on the other hand, makes a face (teasing of course) and walks away with Berty (it’s like, giving his baby away...which is illegal)
(Jean feeling like he’s committed a crime after Bertholdt’s reaction-)
Mikasa smiles for once, and is awaiting for your answer
“Well-”
“Yes, yes we are...if he’s okay with it-”
“O-of course I am,” you both blush as Eren rolls his eyes (teasingly)
“You guys are like a bunch of kids. Alright, we should head to bed now. Y’all have all the time in the world to be lovey dovey, but for now, let’s hit the hay.”
For once, Jean agrees with eren who gives you both a playful grin
“Especially you horse boy, you gon need it-”
“WHAT DID YOU SAY!?” -a very angry JeAn
Armin taps your shoulder and whispers “congrats,” as he catches up with the other two
Jean is visually embarrassed, but then looks at you and feels nothing but happiness, along with yourself. One you hoped would never disappear.

Make You Feel My Love with Nathan MacKinnon
a Nathan MacKinnon song fic
a/n: season outcome, timing, and stats = totally fake. based on Nate’s public mentions in past interviews of seeing a sports psychologist, which is really inspiring to me. seeking professional advice is a GOOOOD thing! also, wasn’t originally intended to be a song fic, but Adele’s version of Make You Feel My Love (originally by Bob Dylan) came on while I was finishing it up, so I went with it! last note: pretending Tyson never got traded to the Leafs is the best part of writing hockey fanfiction. 🥺
summary: Angry/Sad Nate loses in the playoffs and takes his frustrations out on his girlfriend Sam, who gets comfort and advice from his teammates and friends.
warnings: swearing; isolated, individual outbursts of anger but NO physical violence; mentions of counseling/therapy and the practice of sports psychology (obviously, like I mentioned, this is a good thing but just something to know); crying Nate (I feel like that deserves a warning)
_____
Deflated, I sat in a bulky black chair in the team family room deep in the recesses of the Pepsi Center for several minutes after leaving the wives and girlfriends suite, needing a moment away from prying eyes and cameras to process what had just occurred.
The Avalanche had been one of the highly favored teams in the West all season long, yet had just been swept in the second round of the playoffs. My boyfriend, Nathan MacKinnon, widely regarded as one of the best players in the NHL, had totaled only one point in the 11 playoff games the team had played this year, earning a single assist on a Mikko Rantanen goal.
Needless to say, that hadn’t been sitting right with Nate.
He’d been short with me since the first few games of the postseason; even shorter than he typically got when he was in a drought. I had tried to give him space, but he snapped about the smallest questions I asked or requests I made of him: what he wanted for dinner, or to be sure he called to wish his sister Sarah a happy birthday. He sometimes mumbled an apology in my general direction, but more often than not, he simply left the room in a huff. I tried my best to be patient — to give him space.
It was abundantly clear that the pressure that always loomed heavy over Nathan like a thick, dark cloud had now intensified. I knew, without him ever verbalizing it, that he felt more burdened than ever before to live up to the hype — to the expectations he had for himself, and to those placed on him, either explicitly or implicitly, by the entire hockey community and the media.
When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
I sat still with my head in my hands for what seemed like forever, until sweet Mel Landeskog, whom I had become so close with over the last four seasons of watching our significant others play together, came and rubbed my back gently through the custom Avs denim jacket that hung on my shoulders. I lifted my head to look at her, a sympathetic smile etched on her beautiful features.
“I’m sorry, Sammy,” Mel offered. “I know he’s gonna be so hard on himself. But he had such a great season — he needs to be proud of that,” she reasoned. I nodded.
Mel was right. He had had a truly remarkable regular season — he had scored 95 points in 82 games after a enduring a considerable slump for much of the previous year. This year stood in stark contrast to last. He had been riding high for many weeks; that is, until playoffs hit.
I stood to wrap Mel in a hug, appreciative of her gesture of support but unwilling to reflect on Nate’s play right now. “Thank you, Mel,” I told her as I squeezed her tightly. “I’m gonna miss you so much this summer,” I added, gesturing to the car seat on the floor beside her. “And Nate and I will both miss that little one, too,” I said as I blew Linnea a kiss, making her giggle, a welcome sound after a heartbreaking display on the ice. Mel glanced down at her baby daughter, beaming.
“I know, honey. We’ll miss you too. But it won’t be long until we’re all back here together, plus we’ll see each other for a couple of these bachelorette parties and summer weddings and get-togethers, yeah?” she said with a nudge.
“Yeah, that’ll be nice. Until then, you guys be safe,” I told her. With one last hug and quick kisses to each other’s cheeks, Mel picked up Linnea in her seat and exited the room. I realized that she and I had been the last two wives or girlfriends to leave, with most of us having exchanged quiet goodbyes in the suite before making hasty escapes to the parking area to console our respective sad hockey players.
With a groan at the depressing thought, I pulled my jean jacket tighter to my torso and walked slowly out the open door.
When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
The locker room doors stood maybe ten yards down the hall. The usual rambunctious ruckus that so often echoed off the cinderblock walls was tonight exchanged for a thick silence. It seemed that most of the guys had already left, and those who remained were noiseless. I softly greeted a few of the familiar men who made their way out the doors, offering only a sad smile and a few words of comfort to each, knowing that they weren’t in the mood to engage. They were, however, still polite, with several of the players embracing me briefly or kissing my cheek as they left the building.
Gabe Landeskog was among the very last to leave the room, unsurprisingly, as he was ever the responsible and respectable captain. He spotted me immediately and enveloped me in his strong grasp.
“Hi, friend,” I whispered into his shoulder, worried that my voice would break. “Hi, söt flicka,” (sweet girl) he countered.
“I’m sorry, Cap,” I told him quietly. He pulled back and shook his head. “Don’t apologize. Wasn’t our year,” he replied with a shrug. “As you can imagine, Nate is taking it pretty hard...” his voice trailed off. “I just want you to be prepared,” he finally added, carefully.
My stomach knotted. I tucked some of my hair behind my ear and swiftly licked my lips, feeling anxiety pool in my gut.
Gabe placed a firm hand on my shoulder. “Just remember it’s not you he’s upset with. It’s himself,” he said softly. I quickly glanced up at him and nodded. “Thank you,” I choked out. “Now you better get going. You’ve got two beautiful girls waiting for you,” I told him, feigning a bright grin. He tried to mirror my expression, but fell short. It was unnatural to see such sadness in his normally joyful visage. He squeezed my upper arm.
“That I do,” Gabe agreed. “We’ll see you soon, Sam.”
“Okay,” I whispered. “Bye, Cap.” He gave a solemn nod and disappeared down the hallway.
My unease only multiplied after my exchange with Gabe. I began to pace slowly in a circle. I jumped a few moments later when the door flew open with a screech, Nate emerging from behind it, a bitter, dark expression on his face.
I greeted him softly, tentatively, reaching a hand toward him.
“Nate, baby, I —“
My boyfriend brushed past me in a flash, causing a literal draft of air to hit me as he held up his hand, never even making eye contact with me as he practically stomped down the corridor.
My blood ran hot — how dare he not acknowledge my presence after I had attended how many home games, and even road games, supporting him and cheering him on, no matter what? And that was just this season — what about the three prior? Why was he shutting me out? My heart thumped against my ribcage.
“Nathan,” I called, my voice firm this time, whipping around to face his back and then fumbling with the chain of my Louis Vuitton bag as it fell from my shoulder. Discombobulated, I threaded it back over my arm clumsily and took two hurried steps in Nate’s direction, but he was already out of sight.
Just then, I noticed our close friend Tyson Barrie standing a few feet behind me. I could infer from the way he was approaching me gingerly, which was highly unlike him, that he had witnessed our exchange, or the lack thereof. I sighed and pressed a hand to my forehead, his hand coming to grip my other elbow.
“Sam, sweetheart... you okay?” Tyson asked softly. Hot tears pricked my eyelids, but I refused to let them fall, blinking them back with a sniffle. My hand fell back to my side — I was shaking now.
“I knew he would be mad...” I began. “But what the fuck, Tys?” My voice wavered.
Tyson instinctively pulled my waist to his side, giving me a quick, protective kiss to the temple, before pulling away and offering me his hand.
“Come on, I’ll drive you home,” he volunteered. With another sniff, I shook my head. “No, it’s okay, Tys. I drove, thank god,” I spat. “Besides, you’re dealing with the same disappointment. You need to go home with Em and unwind,” I insisted, smoothing one hand over his suit jacket. His head dropped and he offered a weak nod.
“I guess. But listen, if he’s still not acting right, call me, okay? You know you can come over. You’re always welcome, especially when he’s being such an ass,” Tyson said, the end of his sentence turning into a growl. We both sighed; I nodded.
“Thanks, Tys. I’ll let you know. And listen, I’m sorry... about tonight. I know it hurts,” I told him, hugging his neck with one arm. He spread his fingers over my back and gave me a squeeze before stepping back to look into my eyes.
“It’s just hockey,” he said quietly. I smiled weakly and nodded once. “Bye, Sam. See you soon,” he said, rubbing one hand over my shoulder as he turned and made his way down the hall to find Emma.
If only Nathan shared his friend’s logic and sentiment.
I dropped my head back at the thought, tears once again collecting in my eyes. I forced them closed in an attempt to stay composed. With another sigh, I slowly started toward the private parking garage where my vehicle waited.
Unsurprisingly, as I stepped through the glass door and into the garage where I spotted my Audi, the spot next to me where Nate’s Porsche had been was empty. I unlocked my car, tossed my bag and scarf into the passenger side, and slammed my door shut before giving the steering wheel two firm bangs with the palm of my hand. My body still hadn’t stopped trembling.
I'd go hungry; I'd go black and blue
I'd go crawling down the avenue
No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love
I rested my forehead against the leather steering wheel for a moment before drawing a breath and finally backing out of my spot and exiting the garage, apprehensive of the scene I might find at the condo Nathan and I shared.
_____
I stepped through the front door tentatively, chewing on the inside of my lip. I was careful not to make a sound, walking on tiptoes to avoid clicking my heeled boots on the white tile floor. I dropped my purse onto the table in the entryway and reached to hang up my keys on the rack by the closet when I heard the distinct sound of glass — a lot of glass — shattering.
I froze.
The plans I had formulated in my head during my drive to confront Nate as soon as I arrived home suddenly seemed too unnerving to carry out.
My knees were nearly knocking together as I zipped through the living room and tucked myself behind the wet bar in one corner of the room. I hid myself in a partially-enclosed area where the wine and beer fridge stood, then felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket. I fumbled to answer it, not wanting to make too much noise.
Sidney Crosby, the onscreen caller ID read. I tapped the green button.
“Hello?” I was caught off guard by how frightened my own voice sounded as I answered.
“Sam, hi. Are you home?” Sid’s usually calm and collected tone was now bathed in concern.
“Hi, Sid. Yeah, I just got home. He’s, uh... it’s not good,” I said quietly, glancing at the staircase as I heard another thud upstairs, this time what sounded like a pair of shoes against Nate’s closet wall. On the other end of the call, Sid heaved a heavy sigh.
“Yeah, I figured,” he said tensely. “I tried calling him thinking I might catch him on his way home and talk him down a bit, but he ignored my call. I’m sorry, Sam. Are you alright?”
I glanced down at my free hand which rested on the oak wood of the bar. I was still trembling, my fears of coming home to chaos having been realized.
“Yeah, I’m okay,” I choked out, lying through my teeth. “It’s just hard to watch.”
A deep hum of understanding came from Sid’s throat. “I bet. Have you talked to him?”
I shook my head, despite the fact that Sid was nowhere nearby to see the gesture. “No,” I vocalized weakly. “He uh... he kinda... he didn’t wanna talk to me at the arena... I don’t think.” I fiddled with my promise ring on my left hand as I made the admission. It didn’t even sound like Sid was breathing on the other end of the line.
“You’re telling me he blew you off?” he asked gruffly. I could envision Sidney running a hand over his face before gripping his neat curls atop his dark hair, as he often did when frustrated. I opened my mouth to confirm, but couldn’t actually bring myself to do so, knowing what his reaction would be. I also didn’t want to confess to the commotion I had just heard upstairs, knowing that it would further upset my concerned friend, on my behalf. Instead, I let my silence do the talking.
“Goddammit, Sam,” he growled. “I’m so sorry. He’s young. He- he... I used to do this shit, too,” Sidney admitted with a quick breath. “It’s bullshit. He’s just angry with himself and he’s taking it out on you and it’s not fair. I had hoped I had set a better example about how to deal with these things when they happen... but apparently not.”
A couple of hot tears fell to my face as I responded. “This isn’t your fault, Sid.” He retorted immediately, “Well, it’s sure as hell not yours, either.”
We both sat in contemplation for several moments, neither sure of the next step to take. Then, Sid decided.
“I won’t call him again because he needs to talk to you first. But I am going to text him and urge him that he needs to let you in,” Sid insisted. “He needs to let somebody in,” he repeated. “And it needs to be you first.”
More tears were falling now, and I glanced up at the chandelier overhead and pulled my phone from my ear for a beat to try and settle myself. I wiped at my face with the bottom of my thumb.
“Okay,” I finally whispered. I hadn’t ever really cried around Sid, and while he was one of the nicest and most genuine human beings on the planet, I knew he wasn’t quite accustomed to emotional encounters like this one, and I didn’t want to make him uncomfortable by letting him hear the sobs that were bubbling up in my chest.
“It might not feel like it right now,” Sid broached, speaking in a soothing tone reminiscent of my father’s or brother’s when trying to console me. “But you’re right where you need to be. So is he. He needs you, Sam.”
I've known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong
“Sam?” Nate suddenly called out from the balcony above me, his voice not sounding heated, but doleful instead. From where he stood upstairs, he couldn’t see me.
“Was that him?” Sid asked. “Yeah,” I said softly, somewhat in response to both men. “Good. He’s coming around. Trust me. I’ll let you go. Text me later, eh?” Sid requested, sounding slightly relieved. “Yeah, I will. Promise. Thank you. Bye,” I said hurriedly before ending the call.
“Sam?” Nate’s voice echoed off the walls once more, sounding desperate this time. My pulse quickened.
“Yeah. I’m coming,” I said softly. I stuffed my phone back into my pocket, took a steadying breath, and turned to walk upstairs and face him.
By the time I arrived on the second floor only a handful of moments later, Nate was already back in our bedroom, seated in the oversized Queen Anne chair near the center of the room, elbows on his knees, chin almost to his chest. I was shocked to hear small sobs escaping his lips. He glanced in my general direction, not meeting my eyes, and cried harder.
“I can’t even look at you right now,” Nate finally spoke, somewhat coarsely. My heart seemed to shatter right then, and I felt my body steel in self-defense, preparing for war.
“I can’t even believe how I treated you back there. I’m such an awful fucking human. I’m a monster. I’m so sorry,” Nate added tearfully, catching me off guard.
The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain't seen nothing like me yet
I immediately let out three sobs that seemed to have been lodged in my throat for almost an hour now and, in an instant, closed the gap between us. I dropped to my knees in front of him and laid my head in his lap, hugging his calves. Never before had we shared such an intensely emotional moment. Above me, he covered his eyes with his hands and drew shallow, gasping breaths in an unsuccessful attempt to calm himself.
“I’m so sorry, baby,” he cried, not touching me of his own accord. “I’m so sorry.” I picked up my head and looked at him, urgency coursing through my veins. I needed him to come back to me.
“Nathan, baby, hey,” I coaxed, rubbing his big thigh with my hand, which looked so small in comparison. “Look at me. Please? I need you to.”
After a beat, Nate finally lifted his head from his hands, his pale skin slightly splotchy and tinted red, blue eyes shimmering behind more tears that threatened to fall.
“There’s my handsome man,” I said softly, combing my fingers through the neat hair near his ears, watching him slowly return to me.
“Hey, I want you to listen to me, okay? Tonight you’re allowed to cry it out, or punch our pillows, or run on the treadmill all night to blow off some steam. And then I’ll give you a couple more days to swallow this. But after that? We’re gonna check in with Dr. Butler, both of us, so she can give us some ways to cope with this.”
Nate’s shuddering breaths had finally started to slow as I spoke, referencing one of his most trusted allies, the Denver-based sports psychologist he had been seeing now for a few seasons to help him deal with not only hockey-related challenges and mental blocks, but also general anxiety, in order to boost his mental health. I was careful not to allow my tone to come across as if I were babying him, but instead offering comfort and, more importantly, suggesting help. “Because tonight? These last couple weeks? This can’t be it. We can’t deal with things this way. I don’t want you shutting me out, or Sid, or your family, okay? You wouldn’t let me do that — I’m not gonna let you,” I added.
Nate nodded quickly. “Absolutely, babe. I was just gonna say, as soon as I heard you on the phone downstairs, it really just hit me. I realized I needed to text her and set up an appointment,” he told me, his voice no longer shaky. “And that I needed to apologize to you,” he added softly. I nodded, and he grabbed my hands, pulling me to my feet and then back down to lie in his lap. I threw my legs over one arm of the chair and settled against his chest.
I closed my eyes and allowed myself to find comfort in Nate’s heartbeat for a moment, as he pressed soft kisses into my hair, before I looked around the room, assessing the damage. I noticed that his suit coat lay crumpled in the middle of his closet floor, his shoes having bounced off the wall there as I suspected, and they sat out of place atop his neatly assembled collection of footwear. Across from us, I noticed the source of the shattered glass — a shadow box display from Nate’s unforgettable rookie season hung just slightly crooked on the wall, the glass in the front completely broken out, save for the shards along the inner edge of the frame.
Nate followed my gaze to the mess and sighed. “I’m really sorry about that, Sam,” he said, shame creeping into his tone. I nodded knowingly. “What did you throw?” I asked. “That puck they gave me from the last game of the regular season. It was on my dresser when I set my wallet down and it just set me off,” he admitted sheepishly. “It was stupid.”
“Yes, it was stupid to break something that’s valuable to you, but it’s not stupid, what you’re feeling,” I told him firmly. “Besides, we’ll get a new glass panel and it’ll be good as new.” His grip around me tightened, appreciative of my response. “Thank you,” Nate whispered into my ear. I turned to kiss his lips slowly and deeply. He finally pulled back, only to murmur, “I don’t deserve you. I’m so grateful I have you.” I smoothed my thumb across his cheekbone. “I’m always going to be here for you, Nate,” I promised. He gave me one more solemn kiss.
“Listen, I’m gonna carry you into the bathroom so you don’t even get close to any shards of glass, and I’ll clean all this up while you run us a bath,” Nate told me. “I’ll join you soon. I think it’ll be good for both of us, eh?” I nodded, wrapping my arms around his neck as he easily picked me up bridal-style and headed toward the en suite.
Things were far from perfect, but I was prepared to do everything in my power to get us as close as possible. From the change in his demeanor, I knew Nate was, too.
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the Earth for you
To make you feel my love

So, in the wake of BeauJesters seeming passing, I’m going to take a moment to be more than a little self-indulgent and explain why I love these characters and their unique dynamic so goddamn much, as well as why I’m so disheartened by the way the show seems to be taking them. Warning: essay ahead lol. This is just a rambly rant that I’m writing because it’s cathartic to vent a little bit of frustration, and I love these characters so much. (and I love the entire cast, every goddamn one, and every other character in the show too. This is about love, not hate).
So, for a few brief and wonderful episodes in this campaign, I actually believed that I was being told a love story about falling in love with your best friend, and figuring out your sexuality, while also unlearning all of the untrue lessons that the world taught you about love while you were growing up, and in so doing, finding value in yourself. Which, for me personally, is just super relatable. Like, that ticks every damn box I have lol, which partly explains why I love BeauJester so much, and I know a lot of B/J shippers feel the same. I’ve shipped B/J from super early on, but I never in a million years really believed it would happen, for a lot of reasons. Mostly homophobia, biphobia and heteronormativity. But I enjoyed their dynamic nonetheless, even though I thought (and was often TOLD by other shippers) that it didn’t stand a chance in hell of happening.
So you can imagine how VALIDATING it was when Marisha, both in character and out of game, confirmed that Beau had very significant romantic feelings for Jester. All of the crumbs we’d collected over the course of the campaign were finally coming together and all of the gaslighters who told us we were delusional suddenly had to acknowledge that there was something there. And once it had been acknowledged, it was OBVIOUS. Omg it was so obvious and I loved every second of it. It was so undeniable for the next few episodes, and in hindsight, that there was something building there between them, there was potential. There was definitely a connection between these two characters. And for a few weeks, it was great.
Then Liam - out of character - mentions that Caleb is in love with Jester. And it is immediately, fandom wide, treated with more respect than Marisha and Beau.
I know a lot of people get very very angry when this is brought up, but it is just the ugly, unfortunate reality that a lot of people in this fandom treat Jester like a manic pixie dream girl. Even the people who do not consciously believe her to be that (and I don’t think there are many that genuinely believe it), are perfectly fine /treating her/ like one, as long as it serves one of the straight men that they love so much, usually Caleb. And this is where the heteronormativity comes in. Because even though it was an out-of-game confession with no bearing on canon, Calebs feelings immediately took precedence over Beaus in terms of the fandom narrative.
I personally have never liked the way Liam handles romance in game. He did pretty much the exact same thing in campaign 1 as well, where his sad boy pines after the happy girl from afar until he’s uncontrollably in love with her, and then with no warning he drops it like a bomb. He just happened to drop it out of game this time. The main reason I don’t like this style of romance is because of how (unintentionally) manipulative it is. You see it in bad romcoms all the time. The guy makes a public declaration of love that pressures the girl into reciprocating or looking like the bad guy. But the main reason I don’t like /this particular/ declaration is the timing.
Liam - who has always said he likes things to come out in game - inexplicably decides out of game reveal something as major as Caleb being in love with Jester, right after Marisha IN GAME took steps towards Beau and Jester being together. And it completely changed the narrative. Suddenly it was top table top table”, and that's if Beaus feelings ever got mentioned at all. It was not at all helped by the fact that a lot of cast members (sam) still pushed Fjorester HARD, even with Jester telling Nott to stop, which must have sucked for Marisha/Beau. But even as recently as episode 99, Beau was still flirting with Jester, and there were definite hints at Jester maybe having unacknowledged feelings for Beau.
Then the hiatus happened. When we return, Beau is throwing herself at Yasha, and there’s not even a song for Jester on her playlist. And then Travis reveals (also out of game, like Liam) that Fjord has feelings for Jester (in a playlist heavily curated by known fjorester, Dani Carr). And even /that/ is treated with more weight by some fans than Beaus in canon confession. And Yasha is having all of these super convenient dreams where Zuala tells her its ok to move on, and Beau and Jester are barely speaking. And now Beau is calling Yasha her GIRLFRIEND? WHAT??? Did I miss 20 secret episodes that aired during hiatus or something???? Beau and Yasha have still, in 107 episodes, only had ONE meaningful conversation and yet their relationship is being treated as deep and inevitable. Sure, you can read into their other interactions if you want. But as a queer person, I am sick to death of my love needing to be represented as subtext.
And so it has become pretty clear that the cast has decided out of game to go in a different direction. And of course they are well within their right to do that. But I just can’t help feeling incredibly disheartened, and again, more than a little bit gas-lighted. It really does seem as if Beaus' feelings for Jester have just been scrubbed from canon - as if they never even happened. All, seemingly, to make way for a typical happy-girl-sad-guy relationship with either Fjord or Caleb, and a typical pair-the-spares barely-any-depth relationship between the two out lesbians because its easy.
For the entirety of campaign 2, BeauJester has been treated as one thing - inconvenient. Inconvenient by the fans, who prefer other ships and have treated BeauJesters terribly, and now it seems, inconvenient by the cast, who have seemingly discarded it and scrubbed it from canon.
And one thing that really upsets me is the amount of genuine viciousness and vitriol coming from (some) BeauYasha shippers. I really wish BeauYasha was something I could get on board with, I do. And a lot of people who are sending me hate seem to assume I don’t want them to end up together. But I would be fine with that. But as it stands, they’ve literally only had one real conversation in 107 episodes, and they’re calling each other girlfriend? While literally having not spoken about anything like that? While one of those characters is supposed to have canon romantic feelings for another woman? Imagine that situation with any other characters and it would be comical.
I swear, the queer ladies in this fandom have been done dirty. All of us. Imagine if, in campaign one, Grog and Keyleth, in episode 107, started calling each other boyfriend/girlfriend in the middle of a battle. (I picked those two because they probably had the fewest moments together of any VM pairing). That’s pretty much what happened here, and we’re supposed to like it - be grateful, even - because it’s wlw rep? And I swear, the number of times I’ve been called lesbophobic in the last month is absurd - all because I’m not comfortable with a canon lesbians canon feelings being swept under the rug. All because I want wlw relationships to be allowed to have the same depth and growth as the straight ones. Yes, even if that relationship is B/Y. We should not settle for less. Imagine if they had done this with any other character's canon feelings for another. People would be angry.
And I know there are going to be a lot of people saying “It’s their game, they can do what they like”.
True. I never said otherwise. But it is also a show. It is a product. They sell merch. It is something that they have taken the time and the steps to make sure that we care about. And this is what that looks like.
I know what happened here isn’t technically queerbaiting, but damn if it doesn’t cut the same.

(1/2) There's an urban legend in their school that the person you last dance with at the end of the school festival dance would be with you forever. Saru doesn't believe it but doesn't want to think Misaki would be with someone else forever but at this point he's already broken their friendship off due to jealousy as Misaki has gotten close to their senpais esp. Mikoto who Saru is sure to be the only person who Misaki might wanna dance with (even though Misaki never said such a thing). So when
So assuming this is like normal no-powers school AU, where Yata and Fushimi are middle school friends who end up breaking apart in high school. Like say everything was going fine between them but then when they become high schoolers things change, Yata becomes close friends with the school delinquent Mikoto and starts hanging out with Mikoto and his gang. Of course Yata wants Fushimi to hang out with them too but the whole time Fushimi feels out of place, like he just doesn't fit with all these rough guys and he spends all his time pouting alone in the corner. Seeing the way Yata looks at Mikoto with this worshiping air too irritates him, Fushimi's sorta started realizing that he has feelings for Yata beyond friendship but seeing Yata stare at Mikoto that way just makes Fushimi even more certain that there's no way Yata would ever want to be with him and that it was stupid of him to even think it. One day they have a big fight about it, Fushimi losing his temper and calling Mikoto a loser in front of Yata, Yata gets super angry that Fushimi could say such a thing and Fushimi ends up breaking their friendship right there. Yata thinks this is just a normal fight and they'll still be friends but Fushimi makes it clear that he no longer wants anything to do with Yata (so he says, but then he joins the student council and spends a lot of time finding ways to get Yata in trouble for breaking school rules and basically being the thorn in Yata's side as much as possible).
The school year is starting to come to an end and there's a dance coming up, Fushimi doesn't intend to attend but student council president Munakata states that all council members are required to appear. Fushimi clicks his tongue and complains about how stupid it is, ignoring everyone else as the rest of the council discusses the dance. Someone mentions 'that' legend, the alphabet boys having a talk about the longstanding legend that whoever you dance with last at the end of school dance will be the person you stay with forever. The alphabet boys joke a little about it, like talking about who they should dance with last and how important that last dance is. Someone asks Fushimi who he would dance with at the end and Fushimi stands up, stating that legends like that are stupid and he isn't interested in dancing. He walks away and everyone's like yeah I guess Fushimi-san isn't really the type to have crushes, meanwhile Fushimi's staring down into the courtyard where Yata's walking around with some Homra guys, thinking about that be together forever, huh.
The day of the dance arrives and Fushimi spends most of dance like hiding under the gym bleachers or just generally trying to stay out of sight while playing with his PDA. He keeps half an eye on the dance floor and he can see Yata sometimes, wandering around as if he's looking for someone. Fushimi makes a sour expression as he thinks of course Yata's looking for Mikoto, who else would he want to have close at hand for the last dance. The theme of the dance is masquerade and a lot of people are wearing fun colorful masks, though it's still pretty easy to tell who's who. As the dance starts to wind down Fushimi sneaks out of the room and maybe wanders into the school theater room, where there are some costumes for the old school play still hanging. There's a mask there too, one that covers the entire face and Fushimi touches it with a thoughtful look as he thinks again about that school rumor.
It's almost time for the last dance to begin and Yata's looking pretty distressed as he wanders around the room, shaking people off and refusing any dance offers because he's looking for someone. Suddenly this guy in a mask shows up and takes Yata by the hand, leading him onto the dance floor without a word even as Yata's like 'h-hey, wait a minute, I'm not –'. The music starts and Yata finds himself being swept around, this guy is a pretty decent dancer and he's like holding Yata close and moving in time with the music. Yata initially resists but there's something in this guy's presence that causes Yata to just fall into rhythm, like this just feels as if he's somehow in perfect step with this guy even though Yata has no idea who he is. There's a sadness in this person's movements somehow too though, a feeling of resignation that makes Yata's chest hurt even though he doesn't know why.
The dance ends and the guy immediately lets go of Yata's hand, running off before Yata can even say anything. Yata's left there struck silent before shaking his head and trying to figure out what the hell that was, he's actually kinda upset now that he's had a moment to process because he's spent the whole night looking for Saruhiko just so they could have that last dance together – Yata heard about the rumor too and he thought that this would be the perfect time for them to finally make up. He decides to try and run after the masked guy and ends up running straight into Fushimi instead, Fushimi's all cold as he's like what's wrong Misaki you look like someone stole your first kiss. Fushimi's surprised when Yata looks up at him with tears in his eyes all frustrated, like where were you there was some guy and we danced, I wasn't supposed to dance with some random guy. Fushimi gets this cold look all 'were you hoping to have your final dance with Mikoto-senpai, Misaki?'. Yata grabs him by the collar and shakes him, their eyes meeting as Yata blurts out no you idiot it was you, my final dance was supposed to be with you.
#sarumi#Talking K#and that's when the mask falls out of Fushimi's pocket#and Yata realizes who his mysterious dance partner was#Fushimi tries to deny it like no I took this off someone else it's evidence#Yata's like wait really#but then he's like hey I'm not that stupid it was you

Reader gets stood up at prom ghostface boys to the rescue
(A/N): oh prom was my nightmare so this was so self indulgent to think about thanks fam
They were getting around to asking you they fucking swear on god and they were ....enraged would be putting it lightly, when some random fucking loser asked you before they could.
Listen they were just trying to take it slow to go easy on you. Like slowly heating up the water around a frog instead of dropping them into boiling water to begin with.
You're out here thinking you've got #the two best friends in the world meanwhile they're trying to make a teenage spouse out of you but the best laid plans of dumb teenage boys often go awry.
Even though it's totally fine to do so (and the norm for you) you were feeling strange about asking if you could be a tag-a-long for them for prom night of all things.
Them including you on all their date nights and hang-outs are one thing but being a third wheel for the most romantic/cutesy night for teenagers is something you cannot fucking parse.
You had even started secretly thinking of staying home alone that night, which you know everyone in your life would've been strongly against but what're they gonna do? Throw you into a fancy tux/dress and force you to go?
But then a classmate asked you! Sure it wasn't particularly romantic and you didn't know each other well but they weren't the worst person in the world and they offered to buy your ticket for you and match with your color so at least you'll be going without feeling like an interloper.
You rush to tell the boys even though some part of you feels...bummed out you're not going with them but they're a couple and you're all best friends and you know you'll still spend time with them that night so it's fine! Everything's fine! Everything is perfect.
So yes they almost nutted the fuck up when you told them. The look on Stu's face....Billy had to hit him when you weren't looking so he could fix his face by the time you glanced over at him with that cute, excited look of expectancy.
"That's great, Y/N!" Stu would say, trying to make his smile look as normal as possible. "Who asked you?" Billy would say, grinding his teeth to fucking dust in his mouth and already planning on murdering them brutally.
It's only when they're alone and planning the murder do they realize they can't do that to you. You got asked to prom and how would you feel if your date happens to become a ghostface victim! They know you...you're so sweet and nice that even though you didn't particularly like the person you'd be staying home for the evening crying and sad. At the very least you'd take it as a "sign" and stay in for the night, if they were lucky.
Despite being the most possessive boys in the world they don't want you looking back at a night that could be special and magical with only the traumatic memory of a dead date. Romance really is real!
So they didn’t kill the lucky bastard who asked you even though they are so upset and bummed out. Stu mopes for the whole week leading up to the day and Billy is a special kind of grumpy asshole.
But they get to do little prom prep things with you that you probably wouldn't have let them do with you if you were their date for the night and it's cute and montage-y even though they're still really upset.
Helping you pick out a dress/tux/look and being your hype-men! You step out of the dressing room with something Stu picked for you (fashion icon) and he screams! Billy staring at you w/ eyes that are soft and he couldn't wipe the look off his face if he tried. Deciding your makeup/hair/look for the night with them and they lowkey do everything to match you/look good with you.
Fuck your date, man! They are your date in name only. When you look back at this night they're making 100% you'll only remember them. This is gonna be a funny story you tell your fucking kids together. They wanna throw up whenever you ruin the illusion by asking "Do you think (random ass name) will like this?" Shut up!! Stu will begin to cry he's sensitive.
You will not be walking out of any store having paid for your own shit that week. Stu insists! He's your 18 year old (unfortunately platonic) sugar daddy. Billy never let's Stu spoil him so you have to deal with Stu's love language, which is gifts, all by yourself you poor baby.
You're all gonna get ready at your house and you will experience soft moments such as Billy helping you with your hair with the utmost gentleness and making eye contact in the mirror. Or Stu wanting to put your lipstick on and doing a frankly fantastic job but the unbearable tension as he's touching your lip? My dude....
You try to shy out of some of the "leaving the house" pictures so the happy couple can get some alone but all your squirming just winds up with you trapped in-between them and both of them kissing your cheek at the same time.
Your date elected to not pick you up but meet at the location which made them so fucking angry but at least this way they get more time with you. Your dates on thin fucking ice though since the boys would've done everything to make the night romantic for you ...they are Big Mad.
You get there and you're looking around for your date and for the longest time can't find them and they're not answering your texts. You're getting nervous but the boys are mostly distracting you while sharing concerned looks over your head.
Their fears are confirmed when they catch your date making out with their ex and they can't steer you away from them fast enough so you don't notice. Your date has the decency to apologize and look sorry that they did this but you can't work yourself up to being really mad since you didn't really like them anyway. It's just the energy of this happening to you at prom.
They never knew you could run that fast honestly....
"Y/N? Baby? Are you in here?" The sound of the bathroom door opening immediately followed by the most gentle voice you'd ever heard Stu use in his life.
You have half a mind to be quiet so that they'll go away and forget their loser best friend and actually have a decent prom night together but you know they'd just waste their whole night looking for you if they couldn't find you. "Yeah ... I'm in here." You sigh, holding your head in your heads.
A knock on the door and then you hear Billy, "Please come out, sweetheart."
"I'd rather not."
"Y/N..." Stu trails off not knowing what to say and shooting Billy a panicked look. Before either of them can figure out what to do you speak up again.
"Please go out and enjoy yourselves. You don't have to spend your night coddling me. I'm not the first person to get ditched at prom. I'll survive. It's stupid anyways."
"It's okay to be upset, Y/N," Billy interjects, what he really wants to do is go kill your date and their dumb ex. Is there anything worse than an on-again-off-again couple? He's already imagining the fun he and Stu will have carving the two up but first they have to make their baby feel better.
"That was a total dick move of them!" Stu says, trying not to get worked up but failing. "I'll go kick their ass for you right now."
This at least makes you laugh, "No don't kick their ass. They don't deserve it."
"Like hell they don't." Billy grunts, "They upset you."
"They got back together with someone they actually liked. I can't hate them for that. We barely knew each other. I just didn't want to come alone and I didn't wanna be your puppy dog tag-a-long the whole night."
This gets immediate reactions.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Billy demands.
"Y/N I'm gonna crawl on the disgusting bathroom floor and come join you in there if you don't open the door right now." Stu says.
After a second of pause where you debate how serious he is (deadly) and then take into account his lack of impulse control you unlock the door and allow it to swing open, "Don't do that. We'd have to burn the tux and you look really good in it."
You're instantly swept up into two different sets of arm and have to admit you do feel a little better instantly. They have that effect on you. It's a comfort that they're staring at you with affection and concern and not pity. It makes you feel a little less pathetic. You still duck your head into Stu's chest and are allowed this and a moment of silence before Billy grabs you by the chin and makes you look up at them.
"You're not a fucking tag-a-long and that loser out there was lucky you said yes in the first place."
"Yeah baby! We woulda loved to have you all to ourselves tonight."
You laugh in a way that's heavy with self-deprecation, "You guys are sweet. That's why you deserve to have one night together that's just you. Especially prom night of all things. Don't you guys ever get tired of me always trailing after you? Don't you ever want a break?"
They make eye contact and convey some secret message between them that makes you roll your eyes but then Billy's hand moves from your chin to hold your cheek and you freeze up. Stu leans down into Billy and grins at you from over his boyfriend's shoulder as if you're the most adorable thing he's ever seen.
"You're not our third wheel, babe we're a pyramid!" Stu chirps.
"Wha-?"
"We were gonna ask you to prom." Billy's thumb begins to rub tender circles along your cheek and you open your mouth to say...anything but he keeps talking, "But jackass out there beat us to it."
"Really?" You ask quietly and Billy bumps his forehead gently against yours, smiling at your shocked expression.
"Really."
"We're crazy about you, babe!"
"You sure you're not just trying to make me feel better? I promise I'm not gonna fall apart on you or anything." It doesn't come out like a joke as you'd intended and you'd wince at how hopeful and nervous you'd sounded but Billy's lips cover yours. You'd always wondered how it felt to kiss either of them, always having to force your eyes away from them when they often kissed each other. It's a lot like how you imagined, his lips firm and warm against yours and him with total control over the moment in a way that makes your knees weak.
When he finally pulls away you can't bring your eyes to open even when they both chuckle at you. It's Stu leaning forward to playfully nip at your bottom lip that brings you out of the daze and you lean forward to peck him before he can move away. He hums against your lips and you smile into the kiss, playful and sweet.
"Believe us now?" Stu asks when he pulls away, giving your hair a light tug.
"I might....if you guys dance with me. I think I hear my favorite song."
"Well then-" Billy smirks, pulling away from you but grabbing your hand and Stu's, leading you out the bathroom and back towards the dance, "We gotta go take our girl/boy to dance, Stu."

Bucky spent six days with you. You tracked them as diligently as those alone. You woke together and fell asleep together. It was a stark contrast against the near two weeks in your solitary gloom. You basked in it. You welcomed his attention, his stolen kisses, for dread of what would happen otherwise.
On the seventh day; whole week, you woke up alone. You sat up in a panic but his voice soothed you. He stood at the window, his broad back lined with muscles and tense as he dragged a finger down the glass. You let out a quiet sigh and laid back as you drew the covers over your shoulders.
“Tomorrow…” He said glumly. “No, I know… but you can’t-- No, no. Fine. Yeah.” He bent his fingers and pressed his knuckles to the window. “Alright. Bye.”
He hung up. He was angry; you could tell by his tone, by his stance. You didn’t move as you hoped he wouldn’t notice you, but his eyes were on you in a moment. He placed his phone on the window ledge and forced a smile. He crossed to the bed.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you, I just had to deal with some business.” He lifted the edge of the blankets and crawled in next to you. He hugged you to him as he nestled against the pillows. “Morning, sugar.” He kissed you and nuzzled your cheek.
“Morning,” You croaked as you succumbed to him.
He clung to you for a while. Silent. He was content to embrace you as his chest moved against you. You closed your eyes, tempted to fall back asleep. You thought he had until his voice broke the lull.
“Sorry, sugar,” He withdrew his metal arm and rolled flat on his back. His other arm remained beneath you. “I got bad news.”
“Bad news?” You propped yourself up on an elbow.
“I have to go for a while,” He said. An icy dagger sank into your chest. “Just a few days.”
“Go?” You gasped. “Bucky, please…”
“You know I have to,” He reached over and stroked your cheek. “You rid this world of one evil and another rises.”
“But- but--”
“You have the phone,” He said. “You have all you need to keep you well. You’re safe.”
“No, no,” You sat up. “No, I can’t be alone… you don’t understand. If I’m alone, I’ll…”
You clamped your lips together and spun away from him. You scurried across the bed before he could catch you. You heard him though, behind you. You raced into the bathroom. You slammed the door and pressed your body to the other side. He thumped into it but made no effort to open it, though he could have easily.
“Sugar,” He pleaded. “You know I can’t stay here all the time. I can’t keep you here if I have no money.”
You frowned. He was right but you didn’t care. You didn’t want to be alone again. The thought already had the darkness creeping over you. You turned and leaned on the door. You stared at the tub. You thought of how you had kept yourself beneath the water. What would he do if he came back and you were blue and bloated?
“Can’t they send someone else?” You asked.
“It’s my job, sugar,” He said gently. “I don’t want to go any more than you want me to but don’t you know why I have to?”
“No,” You grumbled.
“Because of you,” He answered. “Because I know it will keep you safe and happy here. With me.”
“Can’t I…” You paused and knew it was a hopeless question. You asked it anyway. “Go with you?”
Another silence. You heard him sigh and his fingers tapped on the door. “You know you can’t.” He uttered.
“I know,” You accepted, “I know but… I don’t know if I can be alone again.”
“You call me when you wake up and I’ll call you before you sleep,” He coaxed. “I’ll make sure you’re okay, sugar. You won’t be alone, I promise, not really.”
“I will,” You insisted.
“Sugar…” His voice deepened and the door jolted.
You stumbled as he pushed through. You turned to face him as you caught yourself on the sink. His metal hand was in a fist and his jaw ticked as he blocked the doorway with his body.
“You’re being a child,” He snarled.
The change was so sudden it was like a slap across the face. This man who held you not moments before had become a snorting bull. His eyes were almost black as they bore into you and his features were tinged with irritation.
“Bucky,” You stepped away from the sink, “Bucky, I’m just scared.”
“You’re stubborn.” He crossed his arms. “And ungrateful.”
“No, no, never,” You clasped your hands together and neared him cautiously. “I could never--”
“You think I want to leave you?” He challenged. “You think I want to go out and kill just to put food on the table?”
“Bucky,” You fought to keep your voice from quavering. “I… I’m sorry, I’ll be good.”
“All I do, I do for you,” He snapped. “And you still treat me like a villain.”
“No, I didn’t mean it like that,” You reached out and touched his arm. “I really didn’t. I… I overreacted. I--”
He moved so quickly you yelped. He grabbed you and pushed you back until you were against the sink. His hands squeezed your arms painfully as if he wanted to shake you. You gripped the porcelain and quivered as you looked up at him. You felt as if you couldn’t breathe.
“You don’t know how good I’ve been to you,” He snarled. “I could be bad.” His metal hand slipped from your arm and stretched over your throat. “You don’t know…”
“No, you’re not bad,” You pleaded as you touched his metal arm. “You aren’t. I know that. Please… I’m sorry. I didn’t--”
His lips crashed into yours as his fingers tightened on your throat. His tongue invaded your mouth and his other hand fell from your arm. He snaked his other hand around you and kneaded your ass roughly. You pushed against his chest as he devoured you and crushed you painfully against the sink.
He hoisted you up onto the edge of the sink. His hand slid around to your thigh and he forced your legs apart as he stepped between them. He pinched you sharply and pressed his fingers to the crotch of your panties. You whimpered and tried to rip his hand away.
You could hear the chaotic beating of your heart. You could hardly gulp enough air past his grasp and his lips. Your eyes burned with tears and you bit down on his tongue. He tore away from you and you kicked out at him as he touched his lips.
You hopped down from the sink and nearly fell to your knees. He spat blood onto the tile as you hurried for the door. He caught the back of your nightgown and you grabbed the doorknob desperately.
He grunted and shoved you against the door instead and quickly pinned you there with his body. You sobbed and he gripped the edge of the door as he trapped you there. He took slow, measured breaths and shuddered. You felt him nuzzle your head as he leaned into you.
“I’m sorry,” He whispered. His anger swept away as quickly as it came. “I’m sorry, sugar.” His hand brushed along your hip and his erection poked you through his briefs. “I’m just… scared too.” He kissed the top of your head. “Very scared.”
“It’s…” You trembled between him and the door. You braced yourself for more but he remained as he was. “It’s okay. I know… I know you didn’t mean it.”
“I didn’t,” He uttered into your hair as he slowly pushed himself away from you. “I didn’t. Sugar, I’d never hurt you. You know that, don’t you?”
“Y-yes,” You stuttered; lying to yourself as much as him. “Yes, I know you wouldn’t. I know, Bucky.”
Even after your argument, you were sad to see Bucky go. He left early and you watched through the window. He glanced up as he closed the trunk and waved though he could not see you. He knew you were there. Where else would you be? What else did you have?
He drove away and you went back to bed. You didn’t sleep, just laid there. You thought about him lying there beside you. You ignored the tug at the corner of your mind; the way his eyes would change, his voice too, the feel of his hand on your throat. You lingered there until just before noon. The sun was brighter than usual, or perhaps your world was darker.
You were roused by a peculiar noise. You sat up as the door handle clicked and you clutched the blanket as the door slowly opened just an inch. A knock came and a familiar but unexpected voice came from the other side.
“Dora?” Steve kept himself hidden behind the door. “Is it okay if I come in?”
You gaped at the door. You hoped Bucky had found some excuse to get away and returned to you. You never expected to see Steve again, let alone that day. Yet, you were happy to hear his voice. You glanced down at your pajamas and threw away the blankets.
“Just a minute,” You called back as you got up and rushed to grab your robe and pull it on. “Okay.”
You stood with your hands clasped together as Steve inched the door further inward. He entered cautiously and closed the door softly behind him. He had a box under his arm as he smiled over at you.
“I didn’t disturb you, did I?” He asked.
“What are you doing here?” You didn’t answer him.
“Well, I promised Bucky I’d check in on you.” He said as if it should have been obvious. “And I… well, I got you something and I just couldn’t wait.”
“What?” You tilted your head. “You got me something?”
“Nothing special,” He shifted the box from under his arm and held it out to you.
You blinked and took it from him. It was an origami kit, complete with patterned paper and an instruction book. You gazed down at it and smiled. Your cheeks hurt from the unusual gesture. You peered up at him and hugged the box.
“You really got this for me?” You asked.
“Yeah, I saw it and thought of you so I… grabbed it,” He chuckled nervously. “Anyway, Bucky just asked me to dip my head in and make sure you weren’t too lonely.”
“Oh, you’re not staying?” You wondered.
“I can, for a bit,” He offered. “But I don’t wanna intrude or anything.”
“No, not at all,” You could barely withhold your joy, or explain it. “Do you want a tea or coffee?”
He seemed surprised by the question. He gave a small chuckle and tucked his hands in his pocket. “Not much for coffee. I’ll just have some water.”
“Okay,” You placed the box in the middle of the table.
You filled a glass as he unzipped his jacket and hung it over a chair. He sat and you set the water before him. He smiled and thanked you. Suddenly restless, you made yourself sit.
“Do you… I dunno,” You ran your fingers along the edge of the box. “Do you wanna make some?”
“Sure,” He said. “I forgot my frog last time.”
“Oh, yeah, I’m sorry, I…”
“I can make another one,” He assured you. “A better one… I’ve been practising.”
You laughed under your breath, afraid he might hear you. The idea of him folding little frogs on his own was almost comical to you. You wiggled the lid off and started to unpack the contents of the box.
“Dora,” He ventured, as if afraid to spook you. “How have you been?”
“Good,” Your voice squeaked and you scrunched your lips in embarrassment. “Good. I’ve been… here.”
“Oh… and do you like it here?”
“Like it here?” You wondered. “Of course, why wouldn’t I? I have everything I need here and…” You frowned and looked through the booklet. You peeked up at him again. “Why are you asking?”
“Just wondering how you are, Dor,” He said smoothly. “That’s what friends do.”
“Friends?” You repeated.
“Well…” He shrugged. “Hoped we could be.”
You nodded and looked through the rainbow of paper. You took a sheet and handed the stack to him.
“I don’t have any friends,” You said quietly.
“Well, what about Bucky?” He asked.
“Yeah, uh, Bucky, of course but…” You were shaking. The paper was too. You slapped it down and spread your hands over it. “We can be friends, too.”
“Good.” He smiled again. “You know, I don’t have too many myself.”
You looked down and folded the paper down the middle. You distracted yourself with the straight lines; corner to corner and back to back. Bucky could be nice but Steve was nice. You glanced up at him as he took the booklet and flipped through to the frog pattern. You mulled over the word ‘friend’. You supposed it had many different meanings.
