The Menace returns! And you choose Trauma so this is not a Link!Reader but someone who caused a trauma to someone else.
Here we go to the person that SCARRED our Vet to beyond belief. Marin!Reader and now I finally could write it down as I didn't want to make it a second dream section with all of the Chain as they all would be scarred for life and well, Legend would want to die. So and thanks to Gliphy I got the perfect idea with Marin!Reader.
They were the Marin on Koholint, so they are Legend's first love!
They live but just in a different world entirely. (My own theory on that)
They still remember Legend and hope he is doing well.
They still sing to animals and people.
After Legend finds them, he is at first suspicious. It could be a trap from the Shadow.
But his brain couldn't stop him from rushing to their side and holding them in his arms again.
They are a sweetheart and are holding Legends with such care when they sing him a lullaby.
The Vet will not be able to sleep without them in his arms anymore.
Their weapon is the Sea Lily Bell and Awakening Bell like in Hyrule Warriors.
The Chain is stunned and confused how a person with such a soft voice and delicate body fight monsters like a knight and with a bell no less.
I believe that there are two groups in the Yandere Chain.
Group one will be the one's that have practically a suffocating possessiveness and are overprotective. In the group is Legend, Twilight, Wild, Four and surprisingly Sky.
Before you scream, let me explain.
I think, that Sky would be possessive despite the usual Headcanons BECAUSE he lost Zelda during his journey multiple times.
Once she was led away from him by Impa, then she disappeared into a portal into the past, then she sealed herself into a crystal for that seal on Demise and lastly she almost lost her soul because of Ghirahim. Yeah, no way in hell you can tell me, that he wouldn't be overprotective and possessive over his darling after these stunts.
The second group is overbearing and/or cautious of Reader, not because they don't trust them.
No! They are cautious about the people around Reader.
Reader has a bleeding heart and would try to help anyone they found. Nevermind if it's a enemy or an ally.
This group has Wars, Time, Four (again) and Hyrule in it.
I hope everyone of them is self-explanatory.
Legend sees them as his future spouse. He knew them the longest! And has a history with them!
So he even sees the Chain as enemy, especially Wars.
But he would never kidnap them, he knew how they felt about being caged as he met them on Koholint.
But he talks smack about the Chain.
So he is more trustworthy than the others. So he stands in a better light than the others. So they fell rather in love with him than any of the other eight heroes. So they run into his arms if they got scared.
He gave them a ring, of course a magical one. But it's more than that, he wears the second one of them and as long as they both wear this specific ring, Legend is able to find them.
Legend is also clingy, very clingy.
Wars has to adapt plans so the Vet sees Reader. Because if he doesn't, he will go nuts.
He will use every trick he has in his sleeves to find them and if the others die in the process, he doesn't fucking care.
If Reader is tucking Wind into bed like an older sibling would and singing him a lullaby. Legend is so jealous but at the same time, he sees Reader with his and their children. So the jealousy disappears and he just watches them with Wind with fond eyes while daydreaming.
Sky teached them lyrics from his era, so they sing to him as he plays his harp.
Twilight has the time of his life as Wolfie, they sing to him, pet him, forehead kisses.
Bunny!Legend got it even better, he is very smug about it. Reader will carry him, pet him, kiss his nose, take care of his vest, protect him from Wild and if they are in an inn while Legend is a bunny, they will sleep with him in a bed and held him close to their chest.
They even bath together.
He thanked every existing deity, that Reader didn't know he was the bunny or he would die, happy but he dies.
Just because he saw them naked, something nobody of the Chain did only him.
Wars first, tries to find out how Legend was back then as they met but after falling in love he write poetry for them and they write with him song lyrics of ballads.
Time knows them from the War of Eras and is embarrassed to see them. Let's just say, Reader treated him like a child and never left his side through the whole war. But now he only sees the perfect parent in them.
They switch with Wild so he could sleep longer every once in a while and they cook breakfast in the meantime.
Hyrule sees how much the Vet loves their singer. But as a Fae he got drawn in and is always near them when they sing.
Four asks about the Bells as they are a strange weapon choice.
Their song is "Celestial" from Ed Sheeran.
How they met.
Legend's PoV:
We walked around my Hyrule, inside a forest to be more specific. We wandered through it and didn't found any monsters but there were little puddles and footprints inside the mud. So we followed the track until we found a person lying on the ground. All except for me run to the Hylian. Their blue clothes were so familiar like their hair and as they turned the person around. So we could see their face. I could see a red island flower in their hair and I saw a face of someone I thought would never see again. My brain cried out, that it could be a trap from the shadow but my feet just started to sprint to them. I ripped them from the hands of one of the others and held them close to my chest. I knew, that my house was near. So I picked them up and carried them to my home. The others just followed me and were calling out to me not to be reckless and even my brain still screamed that this was a trap but my body moved on it's own. I carried Reader into my house and laid them in my bed before tucking them under the covers. I didn't care if my bed got muddy or anything. I grabbed a chair and sat myself beside them. They had some cuts and bruises but nothing serious, thank The Golden Three for that. I held their hand in mine and even kissed their knuckles as I ignored the group who questioned me and my motives to bring "a stranger" into my house. My Love stirred and I felt a little more force as they squeeze my hand ever so slightly. They laid in my bed for few hours before they woke up and I can remember how relieved I was. They opened their eyes, they looked around and as their beautiful eyes laid upon me. They smiled and giggled their melodic laughter.
„Hehehehe... Seems like our roles are know reversed, did you found me on the beach as well?“
I snorted at their silliness. „Yes, our roles are now reversed but you laid inside a forest in mud and not in sand by a beautiful beach... But how are you here, Reader... You should be...“
„The Wind Fish fulfilled my wish! I had to do something for him but that was no big deal! Now I can finally see the world outside of Koholint, Link! Maybe you can show me around?“ I turned red as they said my name and right now I didn't care if it was a trap or not. They were back and real! I smiled at them and nodded.
„Of course, I can! I promised it on the log by the beach remember?“
„I know... But you also said you are a hero so you must be very busy... I don't want to steal your precious time... And I said you should forget about that!“ It was like an arrow was fired through my heart and my face and ear tips turned bright red. They were way too kind for the cruel world of Hyrule.
„Sorry, to interrupt your reunion? But who are you and how do you fight all these monsters inside the forest?“ asked the Captain and I just glared at him for interrupting our conversation.
Reader began to sat up, were I jumped up and helped them.
„Be careful.“ they still held my hand but I was more concerned about the Captain. If he tries to take Reader away from me, then he will have some things coming for him!
„Oh I remember you! You were the soldier in the war I should help out to get my wish fulfilled! I never asked for your name! I'm Reader and just like back then I dealt with them with my Sea Lily Bell and water magic.“ they smiled but I couldn't concentrate as THEY knew the Captain!
My head snapped to the Captain who seemed to recognise my first love.
„Ohhh the Hylian with that strange bell and has the Wind Fish as companion. How did you land inside the forest?“ I squeezed their hand slightly and they looked at me while squeezing back.
„I wished to be free from the island I lived on and wished to be with Link! I didn't see him for so long! But I wished that I had stayed awake then I could've greet him properly!“ They hugged me which I reciprocated to hide my even redder face in their shoulder and my ears which wiggled slightly.
I felt them pet my head as they said something which shocked not only me but all of us.
„Oh there are also the two kids from back then! Hey long time no see! You grown so much! One of you even outgrow me! Hihihihihi... But I still don't know your names as the war kinda kept me busy.“
I looked with my eyes to the others and saw how the old man scratched his neck and Wind rushed towards us.
„You are that Hylian with the cool water magic!? It's really been long, you didn't change one bit!!“
They laughed and combed through my hair that my head became drowsy and I felt sleepy.
„Our name is Link, Reader so that's why we are called by our title. You may call me "Time", the boy is "Wind", then there is Warrior, Twilight, Four, Hyrule, Wild, Sky and the one in your arms is called "Legend".“ they nodded and kissed my head.
„I don't care, if you call him "Legend" for me, he is Link!“ My hold around them grew stronger and I fell asleep with my beloved in my arms. It felt like I was finally being able to fall asleep after years of being kept awake...
This is how they met the "Singer" and Legend's first love! Of course, they all noticed how the Vet was acting around them. He was more open and expressive and less snarky. He will be going more and more possessive that even Yandere Twilight would be nothing against him. Wolves are protective over their mates and pups but Legend put that to shame. Sky always starts to play his harp as soon he sees Reader is near him, so they begin to play the bell and sing with him. They sometimes even do a duet with Wild. Apropos Wild, they cook together and dance with him just to have fun and to be silly. Time sees them as the perfect parent from his previous encounters with them but also loves to listen to them sing him a lullaby. But he knows that Reader would be never allowed to be on watch duty, especially not alone. And even thought they fought for being at least on watch duty. They are allowed to but only with Legend as they sleep in the same bedroll and they don't want to imagine what will happen to them and anything around them, if a sleeping Veteran noticed that Reader isn't beside him anymore. Wars talks to them a lot because of their magic and the different bells. Four learned specifically for them how to maintain their bells. Wind uses his "Little Brother Privileges" he gets lullabies, cuddles, playtime anything he wants until Time or Legend separate them, mostly Legend. Hyrule just loves to hear them sing. He isn't confident enough too even mention his feelings for them to the others. Twilight gets "Wolfie Privileges" but also as Hylian he gets attention from Reader. But none of them get as much attention as Legend as he is the closest to them after all.
The Menace will return next week with new words! INTO THE MENACE CAVE!!
I love the twist of being a different world rather than simply just the windfish's dream, legend deserves that little bit of healing at least after everything else he's gone through
And also I agree with how you've characterised the yans!!! I haven't put out my full headcanons for each of them yet (I really need to but they're pretty low on my things to finish and post of wips ngl) But I do have sky's out! and I do see him as very possessive but simply not showing it as much as the rest - he's a manipulative yan more than anything. <3
Legend has EVERY reason to be more cautious of wars, like you said of course legend has the upper hand since he has history with reader but so does warriors, he knew reader during the war of ages so of course he's going to be more defensive against him (time is only safe because he was a kid and doesn't see em in a romantic light)
the way they met is also really sweet, being the opposite of how legend and them met for the first time. I bet he simply wishes that it was after he was finished with this quest so that he could have them to himself instead.

Lullaby | T | OoT Zelink

Zelda can’t remember the last time she was as exhausted as she is right now.
Perhaps, she has never been. After all, years of relentless training, and even defeating Ganondorf seem to pale in comparison to what she has just done.
“This is the fight of your life, love,” the midwife had said when the contractions had begun in earnest and she had squeezed Link’s hand so hard it was likely painful. And she’d been right.
It had been excruciating, exhausting, an endless battle she wasn’t certain she could win. But Link had been there the entire time, fingers entwined with hers. And though she had hardly noticed when he coaxed sweat-soaked tendrils of hair from her face or murmured reassurances, his presence had been an immeasurable comfort.
He squeezes her hand now, and she turns to him with a small smile.
“How’re you feeling?”
She sighs, letting her gaze slip back to the little bundle cradled in her arms. Even after everything she’s seen and endured, she still finds it incredible that their love created something so wonderful.
Their newborn daughter, Zelda Saria Hyrule.
“Tired,” she breathes, “and sore. But looking at her now, it was all worth it.”
It’s true. The worst of the pain is no more than a distant memory, now that she is here with the man she adores and the child she already loves.
She would do it all again in a heartbeat—saving Hyrule, training to be Sheik, enduring the agony of childbirth— if it meant getting to this same point. And she would do it all happily.
“She really is something else, isn’t she?” Link murmurs, awe, and adoration practically dripping from his voice. “I think she has your eyes.”
Zelda tilts her head, thoughtfully. “Mm, maybe. I think she has your nose.”
Link leans forward and regards their child scrutinizingly. “No, no definitely not. It’s too tiny and cute.”
“Oh, all right.” She chuckles. “But I like your nose!”
Link looks unimpressed. “It’s gigantic, and you know it. I could’ve killed Ganondorf with it.”
Zelda can’t help the laughter that bubbles up in her. But the jostling wakes Saria from her peaceful slumber, and she begins to cry, in desperate high-pitched tones.
“Oh, dear.”
She lifts the baby up and sets her against her shoulder, patting and shushing gently. Her efforts do little to calm her.
“You know,” she manages over the ruckus, “I’m realizing now that I know next to nothing about comforting a baby.”
Link chuckles. “Neither do I. I was raised by a tree.”
Zelda sighs, as Saria’s wails only grow louder and Link’s expression comes to mirror her own desperation.
“This is going to be harder than it looks, isn’t it?”
He nods. “It certainly seems that way.”
A princess who lost her parents too soon and a fairy boy raised by a tree. Zelda has the urge to laugh. Certainly, no one ever pegged them as being prime parent material.
She wonders if Impa has any tips she’d be willing to give. She must have figured something out in order to raise a young girl in a war-torn world and teach her to be a warrior.
“You know what?” Link pipes up, suddenly, and when Zelda turns to him, a little grin has brightened his face. “I’ve got an idea.”
He fishes his ocarina from its place strapped to his belt and lifts it to his lips. Seconds later a familiar tune weaves itself through the air.
Almost instantly, Saria quiets, wails turning to sleepy coos.
Zelda gives a quiet chuckle of relief and sags back against the pillows. Who would’ve thought a simple song would be enough to soothe their child?
Though, it’s not just a simple song at all, is it? She thinks, with a smile. It’s really quite special.
The music washes over her in waves, bringing years-old memories with it. Mother humming as she tucked her into bed, Father teaching her to play it on the ocarina, a little fairy boy listening attentively as she entrusted him with the melody that could unlock almost any door.
…including the one to her heart.
As the last notes fade, she reaches out and takes Link’s hand.
“You’re going to be a wonderful father,” she murmurs.
Grinning, he leans forward and gives her a peck on the cheek.
“And you are going to be the best mother in all of Hyrule.”
Zelda hums. She isn’t too sure about the truth of that claim yet, but she is beginning to think that maybe, just maybe they’ve got this.
After all, they’re together. And when they’re together there is nothing they can’t do.

OK OK
1. Which is your favorite game? (that you have or haven't played) Is there a reason it's your favorite?
2. Who's your favorite character? (from any game) Why do you like them?
3. Do you have a favorite location in a specific game? Why do you like it?
4. Do you have a favorite song/theme? Why do you like it?
5. Is there a specific headcanon that you absolutely adore?
THIS GOT LONG but I had a blast answering these :D
1. Oh man, picking a favorite is basically impossible... I like them all in different ways! Ocarina of Time (3D) will always be close to my heart because it was the first zelda game I really played, but skyward sword and twilight princess are really immersive, and a link between worlds got me through a rough spot I was going through when I played it and breath of the wild was all I would play for nearly two years straight and spirit tracks is amazing too... I guess if I absolutely had to pick, I’d choose skyward sword, but really, I never met a zelda game I didn’t like :)
2. Is saying Link (all of them) a cop-out? Because from the moment I laid eyes on him in Mario kart 8 I wanted to know everything about him. I love how no matter what he’s gone through and what obstacles get in his way he keeps going and fighting for what’s right and what’s good. He’s really chivalrous and sweet too, which isn’t as common in protagonists these days.
A second favorite would be either Zelda (because she’s awesome no matter the game) or Dark Link, (because who doesn’t love having to fight the physical manifestation of the worst parts of yourself?)
3. Hmm several really, but I love the lake floria waterfall in sksw. The atmosphere and colors, and that music mmmm... Close seconds are the spring of wisdom in botw or that room in oot where sheik teaches you the serenade of water.
4. Zelda’s lullaby always makes me cry, but I go crazy whenever the main theme or Epona’s song pops up. The serenade of water is my favorite plain old song though, it’s really pretty.
5. Two that I’m inordinately fond of are that the hero’s shade guided tp Link to ordon village when he was tiny and kept an eye on him the entire time he was growing up, and that when sksw Link and Zelda eventually have kids, they have (at least) two girls and name them Fi and Impa

Scrambled Thoughts
hey how does bein’, like. exited about a thing, but coherently, work? ‘cos like. P5S was announced, and it’s not what some people necessarily wanted or expected, but. I think it’ll be good? in ways those same disappointed folks might enjoy, but aren’t necessarily considering? man where do I even start with this
(long)
so way back in the day, when the Wii U was still relevant, Koei Tecmo came out with Hyrule Warriors basically outta nowhere. now, I never played any warriors games and I think my first zelda was Twilight Princess? Skyward Sword? spent plenty of time watching my brother play them titles and consider majora’s mask one of the greatest games of all time, but I ain’t never touched ‘em, and because I already experienced them vicariously, ain’t ever likely to. but I was big on diablo, on that experience of mowing down hordes of enemies with a big overpowered hero, so I was like, yeah, sure I’ll keep an eye out
(maybe  I was able to latch onto Hyrule Warriors because I was more invested in the characters and story than the gameplay? I don’t know how zelda fans recieved it; I wasn’t as deep in The ‘Net as I am now. doesn’t matter.)
turns out just about everything in that game is great. the long-term gameplay isn’t anything to write home about; it’s all level grinding and weapons farming, but like it’s not necessarily a game for that. it’s a buncha dumb fun! hit things with big flashy attacks! watch actual dozens of bodies ragdoll off into the distance! play as your favorite heroes and and villains and then also some npcs we added for the hell of it!
That, see, is what I remember about Hyrule Warriors. the whole draw of the game, what I love about it, is the warriors and their weapons and their fighting style and fighting with style. like, each character can have multiple weapons, and each weapon is its own moveset-- relatively simple, but still pretty involved, and built around slaughtering a buncha dudes really flashily. and it just-- they went through like every zelda game, and went like, who’s important and how do they fight, and then they made them ALL fun to play as
there are forty two fighting styles to choose from and none of them are bad
actually no that’s a lie; the dominion rod, the summon gates, and agitha’s parasols are bad. maybe also the great fairy and sometimes the wind waker? and I never unlocked all the toon-era weaponry, but it doesn’t matter because there are like thirty-five other ways to play That Are All Fun
that’s the first thing. the second thing, which you may have noticed from the list of weapons I don’t much care for, is that some of these weapons get way dumb. like agitha’s parasols. you remember agitha, right? from twilight princess? the incidental, out-of-the-way npc with the completely optional sidequest to find extremely rare bugs? the character that hangs out at home all day and does not interact with any character outside of link? yeah lets make her a playable character in a game where you literally beat up entire armies, she can hit people with a shitty umbrella and also summon bugs, like a giant beetle to crush people with or a giant butterfly to ride on and dive-bomb, that makes sense lol
and the thing is! I think that’s great! it’s legitimately hilarious! and she’s viable!!! I don’t like her fighting style; she’s short range with long recovery times and her special mode relies on getting enemies airborne to actually hit anything with-- but she’s not unusable, her inclusion is a joke but she’s not a joke character, y’know?
and then they went ahead and did that with like every character and every weapon in the zelda series. like Impa, you know Impa, right? protector of the royal line, shows up in Ocarina of Time to teach you a lullaby, never actually displays any combat skills on screen? let’s give her one-a them slab-of-metal ultragreatswords, that seems reasonable. sheik plays a harp and is mysterious, let’s turn them into a ninja with kunai and shit and also a magic harp which does magic based on the songs from OoT that they teach you. how ‘bout Fi, the ghost inside the master sword that exists primarily to interrupt you with unskippable dialogue? well, she can turn into a sword, sure, but her main form of attack is interpretative dance, you know, like she does when you beat a temple. or the king of hyrule, who is a boat! very aggressively. hey why don’t we turn volvagia into a dude with a spear who can just turn back into a dragon while we’re at it
and that’s not even touching link, who has:
sword (obvious)
horse (obvious)
fire rod (flamethrower, giant laser, and most powerfully, axe)
great fairy (carries link in a bottle)
spinner (niche late-game mobility tool from Twilight Princess; 3rd best weapon in Warriors)
and gauntlets (support item that lets you carry heavy things throughout the series; 2nd best weapon in Warriors)
(the best weapon is ganon’s dual greatswords, but that’s aside the point)
and as though that wasn’t enough, they invented Link But A Girl so they could include the iron boots, which makes sense, and, fuckin’, dual crossbows.
you know, crossbows? link’s iconic weapon? that he uses exactly once?? in the game link’s crossbow training??? a throwaway motion-control-centric game for the wii???????
now. everyone is different. so I feel the need to clarify.
all of that? that’s praise. that’s adoration. this game is a love-letter to the zelda series, all of the zelda series, no matter how ridiculous, because it’s ridiculous. I love that, I aspire to that! to that dedication, that passion for a thing, the ability to take a joke and make it real, to make you forget it’s a joke because of how good it is. like when they announced pirahna plant for smash brothers, and then made him good? that emotion, informing the design of an entire game. let me stick this flail in the ground, and then use it to swing the entire earth around to hit you with, and then also, incidentally, because Link’s Awakening existed, because we can, the flail is a chain chomp!!
VIDEOGAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*breathe in*
*breathe out*
and then I think
the people that made that
are doing one with persona
and people have the gall to be disappointed?
like, no, okay, I know, that’s too harsh. I know this isn’t what everyone wanted. I know some feel lied to and betrayed, and my inability to relate to that means y’all might not relate to this. and I know the excitement I feel now is the same as the excitement y’all felt before y’all got let down. I know that.
and yet...
if these guys can pull 42 different combat styles outta the legend of zelda series, from people without even theoretical combat experience, and then you give them the cast of persona 5?
like yakuza man, who's in the yakuza? or guns child, who dual-wields guns? or the doctor, who plausibly has needles and scalpels and doctor-y stuff? or the already extremely anime shogi player, who, fuck it, let’s turn her into a summoner archetype, run people down with cavalry an’ shit! or the fortune teller, she reads tarot, let’s arbitrarily give her tarot-based powers, drop The Tower on some hapless goons, doesn’t gotta make sense if it’s fun!!
VIDEOGAMES!!!
but maybe that’s unreasonable.
I dunno how much creative control nintendo exerted over hyrule warriors, I dunno how much atlus is gonna exert over P5S. maybe they want a more serious experience, maybe chihaya won’t be playable. chihaya being playable doesn’t make sense, and I know that, that’s fine
but even then
I also think
persona 4 arena had the 4 in it
but they still had dudes from 3
so
you know
we’ll see.
