Chappell Roan reminds me of the heyday of Lorde and I think that's why I'm vibing. Can't put my finger on what's similar but it's there, at least for me.

You'd been talking non stop in the days between the last time you'd seen each other in person.
Over the phone, via text, even a facetime at some point, where Harper managed to sneak in and say a very happy hello to you.
The little girl manages to bring a massive smile to your face every time Katrina talks about her.
There was always a smile on your face lately, or so your sister had pointed out just yesterday.
"I swear that woman's got you glued to your phone, dorky little smile and everything."
"Leave me alone, Ash." You whine.
A soft rap on your door lifts your head from your current position of smiling over your phone.
You really need to stop proving her point.
Ashley opens the door, a small smirk already on her face making you roll your eyes.
"Can I help you?"
"It's date time soon, why are you not ready?"
"How would you know what-"
"You told me yesterday, all dreamy eyed. Geez, she got you hypnotised too now?"
You huff.
"Whatever, why are you in here?"
"Because you're being awfully quiet about this Kat and I'm worried, because you haven't said a word about who she is or what she does."
"I haven't been murdered, I'm fine, you can stop grilling, nor are you grilling her when she gets here."
"I have to do my sisterly duties, now hurry up and get ready or else I'll have longer with her because you're running late for your date."
Glancing at the clock on your wall, she's right, it's about forty or so minutes before Katrina is due.
Standing up, you shoo the woman out of your room and quickly jump into the shower, grabbing out a pair of hiking pants, a simple short sleeve shirt and a light blue denim jacket.
By the time you're out of the shower dressed and touching up your hair, there's a knock at the door downstairs.
You fire down them, shoving your sister, who's racing you to the door, away.
As smoothly as you can, you open the door with a warm smile.
Katrina's warm smile greets your own.
She's beautiful as ever and you tell her as such, the long sleeve jacket almost matching your own except she's in shorts and sneakers and a light pink button up underneath it.
"Hey, Beautiful."
You step out the door to greet the shorter woman, arms wrapping around her, her leaning up into you, hands settling on your shoulder blades.
"Hi, Cutie."
You pout softly as she goes to pull away, and then she chuckles meeting your demands with her own lips.
Humming softly in appreciation, you squeeze her waist.
"You ready?"
Nodding, you go to shut the door behind you, keys, phone, wallet and water bottle already with you.
Of course, Ashley decides now is the perfect time to pop out, only, she pauses, surprise on her expression.
"Well... I was going to do the whole sisterly, bring her back by ten talk but... I don't need to. You two have fun!"
And with that, she slams the door behind you, giving you a loving tap to the butt.
Katrina looks confused, matching your own bewilderment at your sisters actions.
"I'm gonna be honest, I have no idea what that was."
You cough into your palm, covering a half laugh.
"Anyway, continuing on. Are we good to go?"
She nods, grabbing you by the hand, leading you to the car parked in your driveway.
Clipping in, she reverses out and starts driving off in the direction of the northern exit from the outer city, a drive you know well enough, having gone this way quite a few times.
She leans over and hands you a black cable, winking at you from her spot in the driver's seat.
"Passenger princess duties are all yours."
The cheeky grin makes you roll yours playfully with a small huff.
"Sure, babe."
Switching to some music you'd both listened to that Saturday night, your hand settles in hers across the console as you hit the highway.
"So, do I get to know, yet?"
"Nope."
It's short, the little smile on her lips doing little to mask the amusement in her tone, her brow quirking a little at the pout on your face.
"Patience."
"Yes, Ma'am."
Making a joking salute, you start to hum along to the radio, thumb caressing across the back of her hand.
She huffs, shaking her head but gives your hand a squeeze anyway.
The drive isn't overly long, no longer than any of the trips you've taken, about forty-five minutes on the road.
You feel like you almost recognise the roads she's taking but a right turn far before anything else comes up on the forested roads throws you a curveball.
Normally you'd been one of the more observant travellers on these roads, however, it seems you'd never paid the tiny dirt road any mind before now.
The greenery, denser than when you'd entered the little driveway, started to part into a small dirt and gravel alcove, to which Katrina pulls in, parking in front a small wooden bollard that lines the alcove.
There's dense green directly in front of you that splits into a small dirt and gravel path which disappears off to the right in a slow curve.
Reaching across the console, she taps your leg with a small grin.
"Hope you brought your hiking legs."
Scoffing, you nudge the woman and basically bounce out of the car in the face of her challenge.
"Damn right I did."
It starts off fairly easy, a basic hiking path for anyone, not much change in altitude but then it starts to increase, and you find yourself falling into the familiar rhythm that you love when it comes to hiking.
If you'd said that to your teenage self, she would've cried at the mention of cardio.
Katrina, it seems, falls into the same familiar feeling, the mild sweat from the hike mixing but also the complete relaxation in her stance as she moves beside you, ahead of you in smaller sections of the path and behind you as you move ahead to crest the more difficult bits first as a precautionary.
It's the first time you really fall into an understanding that someone else gets.
There's a peacefulness to the area surrounding you, bird chimes and occasional cicada chirps as you pass by certain bushes and grass patches.
You think you even spot a small rabbit hopping off the path ahead of you.
Finally, the incline slopes downward again, and then leads down and off to the left, the faint smell of moss and running water becoming more apparent to breathe in, it's refreshing.
"God, I've missed this."
She sounds rightly out of breath as she steps onto a particularly tall rock lodged into the path.
"You've been missing out, then?"
"Far too much, between how cold it got in Sweden and just not really going too far from the city, it's been a good while since I've even gotten to take Harper on smaller hikes."
"Damn, life of an athlete, much?"
A small joking lilt.
"Ha ha."
You can practically see her eye roll from where you're walking in front of the woman.
"It's not that bad, just keeps our lives hectic if anything."
You hum.
"How's Harper feel about that?"
You miss the way her lips curl up at the mention of the mini-mini.
"She loves it if anything, sleepovers with Nonna three times a week and when the international break pops up, she gets to stay with the team and see all twenty-two of her aunties and siblings."
The closer you get to the running water, the less the trees hang over the both of you and the more the suns starts to bead down on your light blue shirt, the warmth very familiar as winter shifts into spring once again.
It's been about an hour or so since you'd started off on the track.
She moves in front of you, turning with a small nod and grin in the direction of the beginning of a large clearing.
"C'mon, we're getting close."
The sun shines through the light brunette hair around the tops and sides of her head that most likely refused to be tied down properly, but in a neat, casual setting.
Slowing to a stop near where she's starting to descend a slightly steeper part of the path, you look out into the opening, a large water not far off to your one o'clock, the green moss abundant around its edges and the dampened ground surrounding the flowing water and the small pool built up around its base.
The pool breaks off into a surpisingly sandy bay that opens into a much larger river, flowing from another path away from you and out into what you see is the beach.
You nearly miss the small misstep as she steps on a mossed up stone, grabbing her arm to stop her falling, alarm on your face.
"Thanks."
"I gotcha."
You nod softly, hand squeezing her bicep, continuing jokingly.
"No hurting yourself, as much as I'd love to carry you back.."
She smacks you a little with a laugh before continuing down a different stone to avoid the same outcome.
"Real funny, Babe."
It's one massive secluded beach and it reminds you heavily of your first tryst together.
Only this time, it's much more private and less accessible, something you can almost appreciate with the nature of it all.
Privacy.
Another understanding between you.
As a public figure and known football player, Katrina knows the feeling well.
It doesn't come often, with media days a regular occurrence and spending near all of her time with teammates, club and country as well as with a two-year-old toddler at all hours of the day.
Of course, she wouldn't trade any of it for the world.
But privacy is a luxury that not even well paid athletes can afford.
So she understands the immediate droop and sigh of contentment when you see the vast empty beach and nothing but the sound of crashing waves and bird song behind you.
Letting your head fall back as you take in the cool summer breeze from the coastline, the smell of sea salt and damp greenery filling your senses, your head turns to look at the shorter woman.
She's already watching you, a small challenging smirk on her face that brings you back to the present.
"...What's up?"
"Nothing, I figured a nice walk and then a rematch would be a great way to start our day together."
"Rematch?... Wait-"
You're cut off as she suddenly pops out a soccer ball from behind her that she'd apparently managed to hide in her backpack the whole way, and tosses it towards you, darting off towards the beach.
"C'mon, I wanna see if you've learned anything yet!"
Jogging after her, you yell out.
"You mean that I'm not the professional footballer in this scenario and that I'm going to get my butt kicked again?"
"I'll make a baller out of you, yet, now get out here!"
It goes on like that for a while, how long exactly, you aren't sure but by the time you both land breathless onto the sand, mainly you, the sun is leaning more towards the other side of the sky.
"I hope you brought snacks, because I'm gonna need them after that last one."
Katrina giggles down at your dead flat form on the ground, chest heaving.
“You can’t give up on me now, to think you were just getting close to beating me.”
The teasing lilt to her voice makes you swat at her ankle lightly.
“Close, my ass. It’s like twenty-six to three.”
“Actually it’s about nineteen to six.”
She kicks you in the foot, tossing up a little sand in the air towards you in the process, landing near your face.
“Hey!”
“Whoops?”
Darting up, surprising yourself you tackle the woman into the soft white sand, landing on top of her.
“That is so not allowed, that was a dirty play ref!”
You call out to the imaginary sideline ref pointing off into the distance with a fake angry face on.
She’s laughing underneath you, almost breathless because of your weight on her stomach, and her hands settle to grip your hips, as you look back down at the woman with a small pout.
“Aw poor baby.”
It’s a little mocking tone that you pout more at.
Poking her tongue out up at you, she sits up slightly to tug you back down towards her, your hands landing either side of her head and you shift to be more level with the woman’s head.
“Hi.”
Grinning once again, you brush your nose against hers.
“Hi.”
A small peck to her lips is all she needs to tug you further down, fully sealing yourselves together, lips locked.
The breeze blows over your back, and the sounds of the waves wash away as you sink fully into the shorter woman, lips sliding across hers.
A new but familiar sensation, becoming accustomed to having the air in your lungs sucked from you every time you kiss her.
Sighing softly into her mouth, you take the opportunity to let your hand wander over the crook of her neck, before shifting to rest over her collar and then over her neck again.
It’s not intentional when you do it, but your thumb almost caresses the column of her throat and it’s her turn to sigh into the kiss.
Pulling away for a small breath, she notes the way your fingers now rest just under her jaw, on her neck, sending shivers through her.
If you noticed it, you don’t say anything, instead diving right back into her, fingers squeezing the skin slightly.
It seems you notice the way she hums into the kiss, a small smirk crossing your face as you let up once more.
The effect you have on her is shown well and truly in the way her cheeks redden and the part in her lips as her eyes open to meet yours.
“Hi.”
A warmth spreads through you at the smile she gives you once more.
“C’mon.”
Nudging you up once more, she pulls herself up, offering you a hand up.
Taking it, you stand close to her still, hands settling on her waist.
“So, what’s next then?”
Her hands grab yours and drag you over to where the bag lies in the sand.
“A little walk and wander and maybe a little bit more of that before dinner, hey?”
Grinning, you tug her towards the bag.
It’s just minutes back on the path that you tug her back into you for more.
You’d say you were someone who had quite the ability for self restraint, especially in previous relationships, but with Katrina, she’s just there, and it makes you want to kiss the daylights out of her every second you’re together.
Inevitably, it takes you both longer on the way back to the car, stopping every ten minutes to admire the scenery in a way only a couple making out against every tree can.
By the fifth time she’s resigned to let you do it every five minutes, more than happily letting the privacy you two have, consume you for the moment.
The way she tugs your neck down herself after an hour of this makes you well aware of the fact she feels the same.
Addicted to the way you taste.
Addicted to the way your lips slide so perfectly on her own.
By the time you get back to the car, you both look more than kiss-mussed, swollen lips, occasional purple marks over your neck when her teeth nipped at the skin.
Like love-sick teenagers.
But not that.
Not yet.
Pressed against the driver-side door, she looks up at you with a look you can’t describe other than pure and utter infatuation.
It makes your heart flip and twist like never before, the fact that someone can look at you like that.
It’s invigorating.
The brunette eventually lets go of you, and you pull back to let her off the car with a very content smile on your lips.
Opening the door for her, you gesture her into the car.
“Shall we go?”
A breathless nod and she’s in the car feeling as giddy as anything.
‘Breathe woman.’
She tells herself.
Settling into the passenger seat after packing the bags into the boot, you buckle in and the whole drive spent going to your next outing is one with clasped hands and small kisses pressed to the back of her hand and wrist.
When you pull up to a familiar club, it makes your heart swell a little.
She’d wanted to come back because the overall ambiance of the place was warm and welcoming and it made her feel comfortable in a place she wouldn’t normally spend any time going to.
Clubs have never been her thing but there was something about this one.
Maybe it was the fact you were involved in it. That it was attached to your first date together.
That would make sense.
You’ve been the deepest breath of fresh air she’s had in a long time. Even with the invigoration of her sport, her work, her home, her daughter. You’re new in her life and it makes her heart feel even more full.
The fact you adore every aspect of her life, her home, her family, makes it all that much better.
The fact that you ask to spend more time with her family without prompting when you both sit down for drinks makes her heart leap.
“Can we do the next one with Harper?”
There's a small sheepish smile on your face.
"It's just been a while since we've all had some time spent together and I miss her-"
Katrina cuts you off with a reassuring smile and a hand on yours.
“I was beginning to wonder when you’d ask again, of course we can, she’s been begging to know when she can see her new friend.”
You smile at the thought.
You had missed the little one quite a bit.
Her wide smile and nearly always happy personality brought so much light into your life that day.
When your drinks are sat down in front of you by a knowingly smirking Aiden.
“Whenever you ladies are ready, I’ve got you queued up with a classic.”
Taking a peek at the ipad in his hands, you see the song and roll your eyes.
It’s one you performed all the time for about three months straight because that’s all people would request from you.
Dragging the woman up with your drinks and a wink at the woman who’s just resigned to the fact she now has to sing every time she’s with you here.
There’s an adoration in her eyes as you step up onto the stage, keeping your eyes locked on hers and speak into the mic with a small wink.
“Hey everyone, we’ve got a good old classic today, it seems I’ve been requested of this one with my duet partner. Everyone thank Aiden for us.”
When the instrumental starts, Katrina half huffs at the song choice, half laughs.
Love Shack by The B-52
You start the song off, letting her get comfortable with the song first.
If you see a faded sign at the side of the road that says "15 miles to the Love Shack"
Love Shack, yeah, yeah I'm heading down the Atlanta highway Looking for the love getaway
Bouncing to the beat slightly, you encourage her to move with you, gesturing down at the second mic that has been slipped into her grasp.
Headed for the love getaway I got me a car, it's as big as a whale And we're headin' on down to the Love Shack I got me a Chrysler, it seats about 20 So hurry up and bring your jukebox money
You almost have to laugh, she's better at this song than most would expect.
In fact, you'd bet she was better than you.
The love shack is a little old place where We can get together Love Shack, baby (the Love Shack, baby) Love Shack, baby, Love Shack Love Shack, baby, Love Shack Love Shack, baby, Love Shack (love, baby, that's where it's at) Love Shack, baby, Love Shack (love, baby, that's where it's at)
The pair of you yelling the chorus into the mic has a few people in the bar up and singing along as well, a few whistles and cheers as the pair of you keep making eye contact with each other.
Sign says (woo), "Stay away, fools" 'Cause love rules at the Love Shack Well, it's set way back in the middle of a field Just a funky old shack and I gotta get back
There's something about the way she dips and kisses you mid song.
You know you're screwed when she pulls you back up and there's a wink thrown your way as she turns to the crowd and starts hopping along to the beat finally, encouraging them to do the same.
You never thought you'd be up here, jamming along with a woman who's been matching your adventurous nature since you've met her.
Despite being someone who has somehow managed to calm your erratic nature, she's also had the more energetic side of her brought out that she normally only sees amongst the kids of the team.
Glitter on the mattress Glitter on the highway Glitter on the front porch Glitter on the highway
There's a small giggle she let's out as you step up and belt out the next verse.
The Love Shack is a little old place where We can get together Love Shack, baby (Love Shack, baby) Love Shack, that's where it's at Love Shack, that's where it's at
You don't miss the small shake of her head when you poke your tongue out between your teeth cheekily at her.
In fact your eyes stay on her for the majority of the song, every movement, every gesture, every expression, every grin while she sings with you.
The sweetest brightest laughter as you both duck off the stage panting is what seals the deal for you.
Her eyes glint with joy up at you and that's when you know she has you hook line and sinker.
-
"So he had to bail you out?!"
"I know right?"
"Babe that is so not-"
"Waitwaitwait before you judge me on it-"
She snorts and covers her mouth at the small glare you give her across the table, having to silence your own laughter to make it hold even a remote amount of sincerity, though she knows otherwise by the quirk in your lips.
Standing, you gesture to the door, wanting to get away from the loudness of the bar for a few moments.
You continue outside into the slowly cooling afternoon air.
"The dude had it coming, he was being way too touchy with this poor girl and security was not doing anything-"
"So you drop him in a trash can after throwing hot sauce in his eyes?!"
"It was well deserved, she was very grateful to not be harassed by that asshole anymore. Besides, the assault charges were dropped when I offered to show them the club footage of him grabbing where he shouldn't"
"Still, you shouldn't have risked going to jail over that-"
"I'd have broken his nose, too, but I literally just had a manicure done finally after like a year of refusing to go, I didn't feel like being made to go back, again."
An amused shake of her head as you both slowly walk down the path to the carpark.
"You're something else."
"That better be a good thing."
She giggles at the half pearl clutch gesture you make in response paired with an offended look.
"Of course it is, babe."
Giving your hand a squeeze, she can only smile at the grumpy look you give her.
"Hush you."
"Or what?"
"Or I might just do something about it."
"Do it."
A beat of silence, your eyes locked on the cocky smirk on her face.
She's baiting you, you know it.
Of course, you take it.
Two steps back towards her.
Three steps pushing her back into the building wall.
One more to find your place pressed against her.
None to press your lips into hers like they'd never separated in the first place.
The small hum she lets out as you do so makes the idea of the very public display suddenly leave your mind, wanting nothing more than to hear more from her.
It's when you pull away gently with a tug and pop that you both pull back a little breathless.
"That works."
She says, eyes still closed, breathing ragged.
You notice a flash of movement, thinking it was a stranger walking by until a small body crashes into the woman in front of you.
"Mummy!"
"Oh my god, Harper what did I say about running off like that? Especially across roads?! You can't do tha-"
A huffing, clearly scared looking Charlie practically sprints around the corner, bent over at the knees.
Her head snaps up at the realisation of who Harper's managed to run into.
"Oh! Mini, Hi!"
The brunette looks a little unimpressed at the blonde.
You get the distinct feeling it's less from the interruption and more the words of the woman who'd just been sprinting after her daughter.
"Charlotte Grant..."
"Wait. Wait. I didn't- She ran off. I promise I was doing everything to chase her down. It was a little road."
Katrina sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose.
The tiny human being attached to her leg looks up at her with an innocent grin on her face.
"Harper, what did we say about running off?"
Picking up the smaller blonde, sitting her on her hip.
Suddenly very sheepish looking like only a toddler can, she looks in your direction in search of something to avoid the conversation.
Of course, with you being you, she does very quickly.
Practically jumping into your arms with excited squeal, the small child latches onto you out of the older woman's arms.
"Y/n/n!"
Giving her a squeeze, a few giggles leaving your lips at the affection from the little girl you hadn't seen in person since that first day, only catching some time talking to the little one over a phone screen.
"Hi Harper, whatcha doin here, huh?"
"Goin to the park."
"Is that right?"
You smile and wave to Charlie with an amused glint in your eye.
The twenty-two year old nods sheepishly.
Looking down at the little one in your arms, you raise a brow in her direction, too.
She nods enthusiastically, her little arms wound tight around your neck as she lays her head on your shoulder.
Katrina watches the exchange between her daughter and yourself with a hardly hidden heart eyes look.
She'd totally forgotten that the park they usually go to is only a couple blocks from where you both were, but it's on the other side.
Raising her brows in Charlie's direction, a small questioning look on her face.
"I can... explain.."
Another pair of footsteps come running around the corner, too, nearly bumping into the blonde, a mop of now very messy wind blown brunette hair.
"Charlie did you get her- oof!"
Nearly ending up in a tangled mess on the floor, Charlie catches the both of them from falling.
"Idiot."
"Hey! You're the one that- Oh hey, Min', we were just- oh."
The mischievous look on Kyra's face that appears at the sight of you.
"That's what you were busy with today. Or who you were busy with."
She wiggles her brows at the older woman.
"I swear, do I need to start leaving you three with Nonna, again?"
Harper's head whips up so fast, you nearly clash heads and you're surprised she doesn't give herself whiplash.
"Nonna? Can we go see Nonna?"
"Sorry Harps', you can see Nonna tomorrow, it's just Kyra and ChaCha for now, alright?"
The little girl pouts for a minute before settling back into your arms.
"Oky, I stay wiv y/n/n, then."
You chuckle at her, before looking up at Katrina.
"Mind going for a walk to the park?"
She sighs softly, before shrugging.
"Alright, why not?"
You pass the little girl back to Charlie, much to her protests.
"One minute Harps, You can hop up again in a bit, I need to talk to mum first alright?"
She pouts before nodding.
You nod at the two to walk ahead, grabbing Katrina's hand softly.
"We can always continue later? You haven't got anything time sensitive?"
She shakes her head no with a small chuckle.
"Just a walk in restaurant, they're open late, though, it'll be fine."
You quirk a brow at her, and she makes the lip-zipping motion.
"C'mon, we've got a little girl waiting."
Wrapping an arm around her shoulders, you both walk slowly behind the group, though quickly get dragged into carrying Harper for the remainder of the walk, still holding hands with the shorter woman beside you.
The pair of twenty-somethings ahead bickering only serves as a reminder of how chaotic this life is for the Footballer, yet it doesn't bother you.
In fact, it feels like something so much bigger for you, something you could get behind.
You don't want to commit yourself so early, but you don't fight the way your heart swells with a little love each and every word you exchange with both Harper and Katrina.
By the time you're both wandering back to the car, late after Kyra and Charlie have left, taking the little one back home to bed.
Late after having sat and eaten and discussed everything from Harper to thousands of kilometres away worlds of a sport you've never found yourself loving before now.
At least now, it seems you've found your favourite people entwined with it.
It's then you find yourself wanting to learn more.
"Hey, I know this is probably something you hear with your work a lot, but just, talk to me about football, anything you want, the rules, the games, anything."
She looks a little surprised that you bring it up, considering you've never personally been a big sports fan, at least, as much as she's known for the past couple weeks.
"I thought you didn't want to know about it?"
"Actually, I want to learn about it, if I'm gonna be showing up to my sister's matches, and maybe get to see you."
You pause, and the last bit is said with a little sheepishness behind it, though you don't miss the way her smile widens at it.
"I wanna know about the game. Or even just your experiences with it. What do you love about it? Tell me anything."
With that, she starts off on where she started with it, how much she loved it as a kid, how she always spent time playing it with her brothers, her time in the academy, in the beginning with the youth team in Mount Gravatt, to her start with the Melbourne Victory and everywhere after.
How she came to Brisbane Roar, her time in the US.
Her injury, her time spent trying to recover. Of course, she's told you the basics of how Harper came to be.
She talks about some of the bigger games she's played.
About the upcoming World Cup in July.
"You should come see us play."
"You'd want me there?"
"Of course I would."
It's said short and almost in an offended tone, but it shows so much more for you.
She wants you there at the biggest stage of her career.
You don't protest it.
"I'll be there, then."
"Good, I would hate to have to pack you into a suitcase to drag you to camp with us instead."
A laugh escapes your lips at that, head tilted back in laughter.
"Of course you would. You're cute. No but seriously, are you sure? I wouldn't be intruding?"
"Hell no, if eighty thousand other people can be there to watch it, why can't you?"
"Fair enough."
You continue like that, laughing, chatting, letting her rant on and on about everything and anything because you could listen to this woman go on and on for hours with no complaint.
Swinging your joined hands as you both wander along the boardwalk she'd taken you to, you look out on the slowly darkening skies over the water.
The colours are as amazing to witness as always, to the point where you both settle on a bench to relax a bit and watch it darken a bit longer.
The sparkle of the fading sun behind you warms your backs as you both settle into each other, the shorter woman contentedly tucked into your side, words starting to slow and you both quieten to enjoy the moment.
"Hey."
"Hm?"
Turning your head to meet her gaze with the tips of her fingers.
"I like you. A lot."
You grin.
"I would hope so. Or this could be really awkward for- hey!"
She smacks your shoulder with a little roll of her eyes.
"Kidding. I really like you, too."
"Too? I only said like not really."
You guffaw at the woman.
"Hey!"
She giggles.
"Okay, I deserved that."
Grinning, you lean down to meet her lips for the what seems like thousandth time today, though, neither of you mind at all.
It's soft, sweet and much less urgent than all of the ones earlier.
It's easy.
You find it easier and easier with each pass to kiss her.
There's a way she spends the time holding your face, caressing the skin of your cheek, that has you in an absolute whirlwind of just... her.
It's invigorating beyond anything.
Yet also, cathartic.
She tastes like home.
And who knows, maybe this is what you've been missing.
The cathartic parts.
A way to calm an already chaotic life.
Sure, she's a professional footballer, that gets chaotic more than a lot of jobs do but it's the way she handles everything. Somehow able to juggle the life of having a child and playing football across the country and internationally when called to.
But to be honest with yourself, there's nowhere you'd rather be than with this somehow new cemented person in your life.
You can't wait to see where this goes.
-
"YOU DIDN'T TELL ME YOU WERE GOING OUT WITH THE KATRINA GORRY!"
"Jesus fucking Christ, Ashley! Chill!"

a special occasion : kuroo tetsurou x reader
tags: a bit of hurt to comfort? I tried
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kuroo is disappointed in you, you can see it in the crease of his brows meeting, the impatient tapping of his foot, the expectant stare following you around his apartment, the incredibly vague hints that he insists are dead giveaways.
hes trying to tell you something or more accurately he wants you to tell him whatever he's been hinting at for an hour now. you've seen the hearts around both today and the date of your anniversary on his calendar, and when a sudden alarm roused you both from your slumbers.
you cracked an eye open, catching a glimpse of what you made out to be the reminders app illuminated the screen of his phone, a huge, sleepy grin bringing warmth to his face as he greets you with a raspy happy anniversary baby to which you could only cock your head in confusion, thinking you misheard him. but frankly, you haven't.
unable to stand his expectant stares, you take a seat beside him, leaning into him but he shifts away in the opposite direction. "not so fast." he chides you, almost giving in when you asked him to have breakfast together. "no cuddles from me until you tell me."
"tell you what?" you whined, latching your arms around his waist as he struggles to pry you off him. what did he want you to recall so badly? you guys had your one year anniversary literally yesterday so what on earth could it be to make him withhold his affection. and what did he mean by happy anniversary??
once he tears your arms of him he holds you by your shoulders, scanning your face. he searches deeply for repressed grin whenever you pretend to forget things to tease him or the way you can't meet his eyes when you tell a white lie. when he's only met by the furrow of your brows as you plead for a hint it dawns on him that you actually have no idea what he's talking about.
he heaves a heavy sigh, giving you one more chance to fess up and say you've been waiting to celebrate this day too and were thinking about it as much as he was. "Baby, today is an important day for our relationship."
you look at him like he's lost it. "was that not...yesterday?" its true that was also yesterday, but, "that was yesterday but theres something else."
you pause, taking a moment to retrace your steps. kuroo liked to be sure of himself and so last year kuroo gave it all in testing the waters. he started to flirt with you outside of dumb jokes and references, hug you longer than usual and make time to come with you on errand. he thought he was playing it smart and casual but who was he kidding when he agreed to come with you to babysit your sisters kid? when you two both know he is terrible with children!
but when you started returning his energy and giving him confidence in the mutual feelings between the two of you the proposal to be his significant other was grand and sweet with a huge bouquet of flowers, a love letter and balloons surprising you that afternoon.
but apparently it wasn't about that but instead 'something else'.
"I'm sorry baby but I don't remember what it is."
"our first kiss!"
"what?"
"we had our first kiss the day after the day I asked you to be mine." he jut his lip out, still sulking. oh god, how could you forget that? literally the first thing after he asked to be your partner you two were whisked away, him to his duties at his workplace and you with wedding events that went on for days, which felt like weeks to him.
you vividly recalled him driving to see you at the wedding, in a tux of his own and you excusing yourself to the bathroom so you two could have some time together and for you two to finally get the kiss he had been texting you about needing all day.
"oh my god your right!" he finally lets you hug him, leaning into your hold. "I've got to make it up to you...can I finally kiss you?" you imitate as he groans, a large palm over his face, one that he lets you slide off his face. "thank you for remembering."
of course he would, it was a really big deal for him. "happy anniversaries baby." "happy anniversaries" he mumbles into your hair and you swear you can finally hear the happiness in his voice. you can't let something like this happen every again you promise the two of you.

❧tinted glasses hide the relationship you both have
♢regular tags: f!reader, bonten!inui seishu, reader is kokonoi's secretary and fiance ♢mature tags: infidelity (koko's cheating on you and you're cheating on him), semi-public sex (you're in a parking lot lmao), getting fucked from behind, inui's kind of mean, swearing ♢ all characters are 18+ and above unless stated otherwise
a/n: I KNOW HOW HTML TEXTS WORK NOW. but anyway, figured that bonten inui hasn't been seen yet and i swear to god, he would be rough lmao. second attempt at writing smut, hopefully i'll do inui justice. i also want to say that i don't support infidelity. if you cheat on your partner, then that's on you and you alone. it's better to communicate and end the relationship rather than... this.
Tumblr media
It started off nicely. At first anyway.
You were a bit confused to why arranged marriages were a thing but nonetheless you were happy. Kokonoi Hajime was pretty much Bonten's bank vault but you didn't love him for that. Too bad the mutual feelings weren't accepted as such.
Kokonoi didn't even try to hide the fact that he was cheating on you with someone. It was literally clear as day that he would make excuses just to avoid you outright. You hadn't seen the other woman yet, but when you decided to go through his phone to see who the fuck he was texting with, it was revealed that there were more women than just you.
Being in a relationship with any of the Bonten executives would mean either pleasure or pain. Other former secretaries (now turned pick-up girls) who were in a relationship with any of them would say that they weren't loyal and always had a backup plan if things went south. You ignored their warnings since Kokonoi was objectively nice to you, buying gifts and spending time with you. But boy, you realized that those warnings should've been a mental note rather than being disregarded.
You wanted to cry, but then you realized that this was Bonten, after all. It was bound to reveal itself sooner or later. You couldn't confine in anyone... except for Inui Seishu.
Inui was part of Bonten's executives. A "guard dog" as Kokonoi called him once. His expression definitely matched the nickname. He looked like a wild predator, waiting for its prey to latch onto the trap. But unlike the rest of Bonten, he didn't have anyone to "show off".
Inui was reserved, and even you took a long time in being able to talk to him. But that reservation finally disappeared when you confided to him about Kokonoi's infidelity. It was like a switch flipped in him.
It was revealed to you that Inui was Kokonoi's childhood friend, and that Kokonoi had a crush on his older sister, Akane. But when she died, he went downhill with the money collecting. And since he hadn't been able to move on from Akane, that's where the infidelity begins to start.
"Then do payback." Inui suggested bluntly.
You stare at him. "I'm sorry?"
"An eye for an eye. He cheats on you, you cheat on him." Inui says again, not looking up from his phone. It was like cheating was a topic that was brought up casually, but you weren't going to bring it up.
"I--I mean, I don't think I have the conscience to do that." You admitted. You didn't really, which was ironic since you were engaged to someone who could hurt you with no remorse.
Inui looks at you now, his eyes gleaming under a different light. "Then I'll make you have the conscience to."
(Waking up to the 4am call "Yesterday, when were you and who were you with?" you asked)
And this is where your infidelity starts.
It was around four in the morning when a phone call rudely interrupted your make-out session with Inui. You have to admit, being risky like this... it gave a thrill in you.
"Answer it," You let out a soft gasp when Inui's hand starts holding your thighs. "Answer it and put the speaker on."
You didn't bother in questioning it. You pressed answer, saying in the sweetest voice you could muster despite you disgust towards your fiance---or rather, ex-fiance. "Haji?"
"I'll get straight to the point." Kokonoi's voice was laced venom. "Yesterday. At eleven. When were you and who were you with?"
(Alternating between evasions and excuses Having fun using them)
"Haji, I asked Mikey if I could leave, remember?" You tell him. "You saw me going in and out of the room."
"I know, but I there's a gut feeling." Kokonoi sounded tired, but you couldn't care less at the moment. You bit your lower lip, feeling Inui's hands going in the inside of your pencil skirt. Inui gave you a look that said, "Keep talking".
You let out a sigh this time. "Hajime. I wouldn't do anything to ruin the relationship."
There was a long pause. "...really? You wouldn't do anything to ruin what we have?"
(Things like "You're my only one", I say it so often that I can laugh about it all day long)
"You're my only one, Haji." You say sweetly. "Promise."
Another long pause starts before you hear the line cut. "Finally, let me fuck you in peace." Inui grumbled quietly before swiftly removing your panties. You covered your mouth to stifle a moan as his fingers were playing with your clit. "Wanna hear your moans, pretty. Don't bother in hiding it..."
You only shake your head, and Inui's response was to experimentally slide a finger inside of you. You didn't hold back your moan this time, leaning against hood of his car to keep yourself balance. "Inu--Inui, please--"
"Seishu."
"Seishu, let me cum, please," You were begging at this point, your legs shaking.
"Mhm," Seishu pulls out his fingers and you managed to catch your breath, panting heavily. "Turn around, I'm fucking you like the needy bitch you are."
(I simply enjoy "doing it" With someone, you know?)
Your pencil skirt was on the ground, arms on the hood of his car and your ass in full display. Inui unbuckles his belt, pulling his pants and boxers down just a little to show his cock. You could see from the dim light that it was big, veiny, and there was precum leaking from the tip. You practically drooled at the sight, clenching onto nothing. "Koko hasn't seen like this, has he?" He slides into you without a warning, earning a porn-worthy moan from you. "When was the last time you've been taken care of properly?"
You only shake your head, covering your mouth again to hide your moans. "Seishu, s-someone could see--Ah!" You hide your face, avoiding eye contact when he moves his hips. "Don't care. If anyone would see, it'll be you fucking on my dick like a whore."
(My bitter and hot spice, I'll give it to you right now)
Only the sounds of squelching and skin slapping were being heard in the somewhat empty parking lot. It was like your vision was starting to blur, the only thing keeping you from falling down to the ground was Inui's cock in your tight and messy cunt.
"Sei--Oh, fuck--Sei!"
Inui could feel that you were reaching your climax as you clench your fists. "Want--Want you inside, Sei, please-" You turn to him with needy tears glossing you eyes, probably from the pleasure he was giving you. It's as if his eyes weren't already clouded in lust in desire.
If Kokonoi wasn't going to give you what you deserve, then Inui certainly will.
(My unforgettably wonderful taste, can you feel it throughout your body?)

you're mine, end of discussion
-------------------------------------------------------------
You first met Andrei when he tagged along with your brother Joe to an Ohio State football game earlier in the year. As a senior at OSU, you’d been begging Joe to visit during his bye week, and since Andrei had never been to OSU, he decided to join. From the moment you met him, his playful personality and easygoing nature had you laughing the entire weekend. Saying goodbye to him was almost harder than saying goodbye to your own brother.
Joe brought it up over the phone later that week, and when you casually mentioned Andrei was attractive, protective big brother Joe wasn’t thrilled. “Find someone your own age,” he had not-so-kindly warned.
Little did Joe know, you had discreetly slipped your number into Andrei’s phone, and the two of you had been texting regularly ever since. It started off casual, just checking in on each other, but the conversations had grown flirty over time.
When fall break rolled around, you packed your bags to head to Cincinnati for the week, planning to spend time with Joe and interview for a job ahead of your December graduation.
"Hey, smalls," Joe greeted, using your childhood nickname as he pulled you into a hug.
"Hey, Joey. Thanks for letting me crash here this week," you said as he grabbed your bags and carried them inside his condo.
“So, tonight some of the guys are coming over to watch college football. That okay? I figured you might be tired and want something low-key.”
“Yeah, that’s fine," you said, casually asking, "Is Andrei coming?”
Joe shot you a look. “Don’t start with me.”
You giggled and went to unpack. After a long week, a hot shower felt amazing, and you changed into one of Joe's oversized Bengals t-shirts paired with biker shorts that barely covered your butt.
When you walked out to the kitchen, the smell of pizza filled the air, and you said hi to Joe’s friends lounging around, watching the game. Joe immediately narrowed his eyes at your outfit, especially when he caught Andrei checking you out.
Andrei smirked, standing up to greet you. "Hey," you said, smiling up at him as he pulled you into a tight hug.
"I'm glad you're here this week," he whispered in your ear, making you playfully push him away.
"Joe’s gonna kill you," you teased.
"I like my chances," he said with a grin, casting a glance over at Joe, who was glaring daggers.
You caught up with Andrei, chatting for a bit, before Joe cleared his throat behind you.
"What are you guys talking about?" Joe asked, his tone pointed.
Rolling your eyes, you replied, "Just telling him about my classes."
Joe eyed the two of you suspiciously. "You’re standing a little too close to just be talking about classes, don’t you think?"
Andrei took a quick step back. So much for ‘I like my chances.’
"I think the rest of them are heading out," Joe said, giving Andrei a pointed look that clearly hinted at him leaving.
"But Andrei can stay a little longer, right?" you asked sweetly, batting your eyes at Joe.
Joe grumbled but reluctantly agreed, grabbing another slice of pizza. You followed him into the living room and happily sank down onto the couch, noticing Andrei sitting right next to you. As the game played on, you half-watched while scrolling through your phone when you felt a hand on your thigh, hidden beneath the blanket you had pulled over yourself earlier. Andrei’s thumb lazily traced circles on your bare skin, sending a shiver up your spine.
You nestled into the couch, content with the subtle touch, and slowly drifted off to sleep, your head resting on Andrei’s shoulder. Joe, noticing the scene, frowned.
"Man to man," Joe said, breaking Andrei's focus. "What the hell are you doing with my sister?"
Andrei froze, clearly nervous, before glancing down at your peaceful face. "We’re just talking," he finally replied. "But if you really have a problem with it, I’ll stop."
Joe sighed, running a hand through his hair. "No, I can tell she likes you. But if you hurt her, I swear I’ll never throw you the ball again."
Andrei chuckled, the tension easing as he shifted his arm around your shoulders. "I get it, Joe. I won’t hurt her."
Joe stood up, looking slightly sickened by the affection. "Goodnight," he muttered, retreating to his room.
As soon as Joe disappeared, Andrei leaned in closer, knowing you were eavesdropping, his voice low and playful. “You’re mine. End of discussion.”
Your heart raced at his words, a mix of relief and excitement flooding through you. You turned your head to meet his gaze, his brown eyes sparkling with mischief and something deeper. “I’ve been waiting for you to say that,” you admitted, feeling a warm blush creep up your cheeks.
Andrei chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. “I just had to make sure you knew I wasn’t backing down. I like you too much to let you slip away.”
You bit your lip, feeling a thrill run through you. “Well, good. Because I’m not going anywhere.”
He grinned, the tension between you palpable. Andrei leaned closer, his forehead resting against yours, and you could feel the warmth radiating from him. “So, what now?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Now?” you replied, your heart racing. “We get to enjoy this week together. And maybe, you can give me a tour of Cincinnati?”
His smile widened, and you could see the excitement in his eyes. “I’d love that. Just you and me, exploring the city. And don’t worry—I’ll make sure Joe doesn’t find out about any of our adventures.”
You laughed, the sound filling the cozy atmosphere of the living room. “I think he might have a little trouble with that.”

Alec x Swan!Fem!Reader

A/N: Part 1 was originally just supposed to be a oneshot, but here I am. Enjoy! Pssst @rosedpetal and @badass-daisy-22 your wish is my command. ;)
Tumblr media
He was laying on his bed, dressed more casually than I had ever seen him, in a simple white t-shirt and pajama bottoms, a book in hand. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the book was on ancient Greek myths, something that I was quite interested in and even planned to study in college.
His dark chocolate colored hair was splayed out across his pillow and I itched to touch it. Well, I really itched to touch all of him, but that was neither here nor there. I had a weird obsession with his hair. And his face. In particular his eyes and especially his lips. I grinned to myself, content just to watch with my being so far away.
Visions like this were rare, few and far in between.
I supposed it was kind of creepy, but in my defense I didn't really have control of these visions, especially since they happened while I was sleeping.
I could already feel the nudge of wakefulness pulling at me. I tried my best to burrow down deeper into sleep, but resistance was futile, and I found myself opening my eyes to see the ceiling of my bedroom back home in Forks, Washington.
I rolled over with a deep sigh. I would give anything to be in Volterra with Alec. Sadly I had a little bit longer to wait. Reaching for my phone I checked my messages and grinned to see a text from him.
'Missing you.'
Alec wasn't one for talking on the phone, he preferred to text, and almost always left me a good morning message to wake up to. Most days it was the highlight of my day.
I pressed the call button and he picked up before the second ring even made a sound.
"Good morning, tesoro."
"Good morning, love." I smiled, burrowing deeper into my covers.
I really just needed to hear his voice this morning.
Tumblr media
"Y/N?"
It was Bella, her arm wrapped around my shoulders.
"Hey, sis." I gave her a hug, resting my forehead against her.
"Everything's gonna be ok."
"I know." I sighed. "Let's just get today over with. Grab that diploma and skedaddle."
Bella would definitely have to repeat high school at some point and I counted my lucky stars that I was not in her shoes in that regard. Or any other regard. My sister was a fucking danger magnet and the whole Victoria shit was just a big red neon sign that proved it.
There was a knock at the door and Bella opened it to see Alice. The vampire was bouncing on the tips of her toes already, and the gleam in her eyes scared me. Maybe if I let Bella go first then I could make my escape-
"I'd take Y/N first. She's planning on making a run for it."
Edward you twat. Where did you come from??
Edward just shot me a crooked grin as I glared at him from over my shoulder, Alice already dragging me up the stairs. With a sigh I sat on my bed like a good girl and let Alice do her thing. Thankfully I had already done my makeup, and Alice was content to give me some red lipstick for a pop of color.
"Alec will like it, promise." She gave me a wink and I swear I turned at least fifty shades of red.
"He's not even supposed to be here today. Do you know something I don't?" I eyed her skeptically, but the little bit of hope I was feeling was obvious.
She smiled at me sadly. "Sorry, Y/N. But speaking of lover-boy."
Alice turned to her bag and brought out a small ornate box, handing it to me with all the care in the world. From Alec?
I let my fingers curl around the box, admiring the designs carved into the dark colored wood. It was old, which was quite obvious, and while I had an inkling that it was a piece of jewelry, I was in no way prepared for when I opened the box. It was a small ruby pendant, about the size of my pinky nail, dangling from a golden chain. It had with a rough rectangular cut that rounded out a little at the bottom. I was immediately mesmerized, stroking the pendant in wonder.
It reminded me not just of blood, but of something else that I couldn't quite remember. It was then that I saw the note wedged into the top of the box. I unfolded it with shaking hands, overwhelmed and giddy.
For my Persephone. Congratulations. -A
My mouth popped open. Oh. Oh this boy was clever.
The ruby wasn't supposed to be blood, it was supposed to be a pomegranate seed. Like one of the seeds that Hades offered to Persephone. In the end, eating the pomegranate seeds forced her to return to the underworld to live half the year there with Hades. It was my favorite Greek myth, and I couldn't help but draw parallels between her story and my own. They were rather crooked parallels, but I wasn't too bothered by that.
I could feel the tears start to well up. I don't think I've ever received a gift that was so thoughtful.
"Oh hun. No. No." Alice was there beside me in a heartbeat, wiping the tears before they could fall.
"They're happy tears, Alice." I said with a small smile.
Well, not completely happy, I wished he was here of course. But I would be seeing him soon enough.
"I know. We don't wanna ruin your makeup. Let me help you put it on and we'll take a good portrait to send him, yeah?"
"Thanks, Alice. You're the best ever."
I only wished I had realized just how soon we would be seeing each other.
Tumblr media
'I am in so much trouble.'
My anxiety, paired with the adrenaline rush, was practically so high I was pretty sure it was orbiting the moon. Jasper was by my side, doing his best to soothe not just me, but poor little Bree Tanner.
"How bad is it gonna be, Alice?" I whispered to her, wringing my hands together and bouncing on the tips of my toes. "How much trouble am I in?"
"Relax." She soothed.
"So pretty fucking bad. Do I have time to run?"
I was this close to hyperventilating.
I wasn't even supposed to be here. Bella almost had my head when she saw me on the back Jacob's wolf form, poised and ready to help. With what I wasn’t entirely sure in that moment. I had come up with the harebrained scheme to help muddle Bella's scent with my own by switching the matching jackets we had received for Christmas years ago. Emmet had made the comment a while ago that our scents were pretty similar, so I just kind of ran with the idea. It had worked so well that even Edward hadn't seemed to notice when Bella had slipped on my jacket instead of her own. It had helped split the army at least. Having two humans with similar scents had sent them all mixed signals, so it had kind of worked.
Or so I was telling myself.
So here I was, exactly in a place where I wasn't supposed to be, and the Volturi would be arriving any minute. More specifically Alec and the other elite guards from what Alice had said. None of whom I've had the pleasure of meeting yet. Including his sister. This was like… meeting your significant other's family for the first time.
Well, this was gonna be one hell of a hello.
"They're coming." Alice's panicked voice did nothing to calm me down.
Jasper put a hand on my shoulder in an attempt to help. "Try to relax, Y/N. It's not you he's going to angry with."
I simply nodded and fiddled with my necklace, the ruby seed feeling cold and smooth beneath my fingers. That helped a little as they appeared from the fog, and I found myself catching my breath when I saw Alec's silhouette emerge. He removed his hood and nearly froze when he caught sight of me. I gave him a small smile and a wave.
He let out a snarl that almost sent me hiding behind Jasper.
Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit.
"Y/N is safe." Carlisle soothed. "We never would have let anything happen to her."
"This is the second time your coven has dragged her into something dangerous." He hissed, voice low and deadly.
'Well, if we're gonna get technical about it Alec, we never would have met had it not been for that first time.'
Edward shot me a look.
What? It's not like I had said it out loud.
Wringing my hands, I stepped forward slightly before finally gathering the courage to approach him. He met me half way, gathering me into his arms. I let out a deep sigh of contentment as I buried my face in his jacket.
"I know you're angry." I whispered. "But I couldn't let something happen to Bella. They weren't even aware of what I was doing until it was too late. I'm sorry. For scaring you."
Alec said nothing for a long minute and I could feel the tension practically eating me alive.
"Alec." The red-eyed girl spoke, watching and taking us in.
Jane. His sister.
He simply nodded and left me standing there before returning to his position by her side. My heart dropped. He hadn't even bothered to say anything. I turned swiftly, blinking back tears. While I was sorry for scaring him, I refused to be sorry for my actions. Bella was my sister, and I would do what I could to help her. I stood a little behind Alice, staring at nothing and trying my best to turn off my emotions.
Jane spoke again. "Impressive. I have never seen a coven escape an assault of this magnitude intact."
"We were lucky." Carlisle answered.
"I doubt that."
I couldn't help the way my eyebrows shot up. Then I had to remind myself that this was Jane, and she had always proved exceptionally brutal in my visions. And this was no different, although it was Felix who did the dirty work this time. Bree was gone.
I didn't even blink at the end of it. I simply stood there, like a zombie when they finally disappeared. And Alec hadn't even said a word. The dam holding back the flood of tears finally broke.
'There goes my red-eyed boy.'

HALF AN HOUR FOR LOVE — Childe x F!Reader Chapter 21. Picket fence
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Childe took a nervous, deep breath as the voice on the other side of the phone continued talking. The ginger man's eyebrows met at the bridge of his nose, and he nervously clutched the phone in his hand.
"We already discussed this, remember?" The voice of the man speaking was rough and familiar. It was obvious that the man Tartaglia was speaking to had no intention of considering Childe's feelings. Childe bit his lip painfully, clearly realizing that he couldn't do anything about it, no matter how much he wanted it. "I'm taking Anthon, Tonia and Teucer with me to Fontaine for Christmas."
"But, father...!" The last hope was lost, turning into only a desperate cry. The man didn't even notice how he clutched his wooden desk with his free hand until his fingers hurt. An unpleasant crunch of bones was heard, but Childe didn't pay attention to the pain in his hand. This was a mere trifle compared to his brothers and sister and their well-being.
"I confronted you with a fact, and I absolutely don't care what you think about it." The man on the other side of the phone snorted casually when he heard his son's words. Childe clutched his phone even tighter when he heard a strangled cough. "This isn't something you should be thinking about right now. Better instead make sure Lumine is happy with your upcoming wedding."
The ginger man felt his jaws tighten at the mention of his fiancée. He clenched his teeth to suppress the desperate urge to scream, but continued to listen to his father's words.
"That's all you need to do. Be a good boy and do what you're told." Right now, what the ginger man hated most about himself was the fact that he didn't have the opportunity to resist. He felt so small and insignificant, as if all hope and desire to strive for his goals left him in the blink of an eye.
"Yes, father..." He could only helplessly agree with person who had more power than him. The short answers Childe could give were so pathetic and empty. He was disgusted with himself right now. And most of all he was afraid of what you would say if you saw him in such a pitiful and helpless state.
"That's better." Those were the last words Tartaglia's father spoke to him before he ended the call, leaving the ginger man in the ringing silence of his office. Childe remained motionless for some time, biting his lower lip until it bled. He collapsed into his leather chair, clutching his ginger hair, finding himself filled to the brim with boundless horror and disbelief at what was happening.
Tumblr media
"Thank you, I will come see you a little later to pick up these documents!" You smiled happily at the accountant girl you worked with. The two of you were often given joint projects, and you had nothing but joy working with her. The girl smiled back at you and nodded, after which you left the office, finding yourself in a long corridor.
A sudden growl in your stomach alerted you that you should eat, and you glanced at your wristwatch. Indeed, it was now midday and you decided it would be nice to have lunch. The sudden click of heels caught your attention, and you noticed blonde secretary emerging from Childe's office. The woman disappeared around the bend, and you smiled contentedly, rejoicing at this opportunity to invite the man to have lunch together and spend a little time with him.
Led by your loving heart, you looked around and hurried to the office of your loved man. You carefully opened the door to his office, to your surprise, finding the curtains tightly drawn. This created an oppressive darkness in the office, and for a few moments you thought that the man wasn't here. But this thought appeared in your head and instantly left it when you noticed the ginger man bent over the table. Your attention was drawn to the multiple glass glasses on his table — some of them were completely empty, while others weren't completely filled with brown-golden liquid.
Your heart began to beat anxiously in your chest, because in the long time of your friendship you had seen Tartaglia in such a state for the first time. He sat in his chair, his ginger head buried in his hands, and gave the impression of a man who was confused about his life and what he was supposed to do. You couldn't understand what caused such a sudden change in mood. After all, when you two returned to Snezhnaya after a business trip, Childe was, as always, talkative, clingy and kindly annoyed you. Therefore, you sincerely didn't expect to see him in such a state.
A thorny vice squeezed your chest, and pain spread throughout your entire body. You couldn't help but feel sadness and heartache when the person you loved was in such a state. So you hurried to close the door behind you and headed to the window to push the curtains aside. When bright sunlight flooded the hitherto dark office and hit Childe's face, you heard a strangled groan escape his bitten lips.
"Y/n..." Tartaglia finally raised his gaze, noticing your fragile figure standing by the window. His voice was hoarse, as if your name was the first word he decided to say for the first time after several years of continuous silence. Your breath caught in your throat when you noticed his haggard, pale face.
On slightly shaky legs, you walked a little closer to him, and Childe moved away from the table slightly, making room for you to sit next to him. You shifted timidly in place when you realized that you had never come so close to his work chair in which he was sitting. It was like a forbidden area for you, but your heart was bursting with happiness when Tartaglia allowed you to come near him so easily. Being inaccessible to other people, a huge cold iceberg, he was open, warm, like the warmest fire, for you.
You pushed the liquor bottle aside with a slight movement of your hand, and you had to squat down to be face to face with the ginger man. His attentive, bottomless blue eyes watched your every move, and when your eyes and his eyes met, it felt as if the world around you two had stopped. No matter how much you were fascinated by his handsome face right now, you had to help him get out of this depressed state.
"You've had too many." Your voice is full of some sternness, and the ginger man thought that you were disappointed in him. However, quenching his pain and sadness with alcohol seemed to him the only right decision. "You need to eat healthy food. You told me you wanted me to take care of my health, remember? So you should do the same for me."
"I'm fine, you don't have to bother yourself." The ginger man said as he leaned back in his chair and tried to relax. The only thing he wanted now was to drown out his pain in expensive alcohol and the tart taste of cigars.
"Stop being stubborn, let's go." Snatching the cigar from his hand, you placed it on the table, pushing it further away. Tartaglia's brows furrowed slightly. "You look like you're sad about something. Let me help you."
"I told you I'm fine, baby." Childe answered you casually and irritably, but you remained calm, understanding that he was rude to you not out of evil intentions, but simply because he was very upset about something. But you really couldn't leave him alone right now. Your heart couldn't bear the thought of the ginger man suffering and the fact that you couldn't help him. So you made another attempt to persuade him to share lunch meal with you.
"Just come with me, and together we will think about how to solve this prob..." You didn't have time to finish, because your words were interrupted by Tartaglia's sharp, rude voice.
"That's enough, Y/n! I told you I'm fine!" Your eyes went wide when you heard his growling, rough voice. Hundreds of thousands of sharp daggers pierced your soul as soon as you looked into his face. "None of the solutions you proposed, nor yourself — none of this can help me! Just leave me alone!"
The ginger man was breathing heavily, his nostrils narrowing and widening as he took in shuddering breaths. In his dark blue eyes, instead of a calm and gentle ocean towards you, you saw only a huge storm, ready to swallow you headlong with one single wrong step towards him. Without realizing it, you took a small step back, and the realization of this reflected slight fear in the man's eyes when he noticed that your body trembled slightly under his gaze.
The tense silence between you continued to grate your ears for some time before you finally regained your composure. Your immobile muscles began to obey your nervous system again, and under Tartaglia's worried gaze, you headed towards the exit from his office. The ginger man remained sitting in his chair, consumed by rage at himself, helplessness and the desire to fall on his knees in front of you and beg for your forgiveness. But still, he made no move to catch up with you, as if he was chained to his chair.
Childe could only stare after you before his heart started beating faster in his chest as you stopped near the door and hesitantly turned to him. The punitive sword of guilt fell on his shoulders as a gentle little smile appeared your lips.
"If you want to talk about this, don't forget that I'm always here for you to listen and help you." Your words, like an angelic song, touched his ears before being drowned out by the dull knock of the door, hiding your beautiful silhouette from his sight.
The man cursed tiredly and leaned back in the leather chair, throwing his head back to the ceiling. A groan of disappointment escaped his throat. God, how much he hated himself at that moment. You were so kind to him, and all he could do in response to your offer of help was be such a rude and terrible person to you? Drowning in despair, he wounded those who wanted to help him. Pain and fear for his siblings are mixed with a feeling of boundless guilt in front of you, and this was all too much for one day.
Tartaglia takes a glass of liqueur from the table and takes several frantic sips. The burning liquid washes over his throat, giving him a moment of relaxation, which dissolves immediately after he remembers your frightened eyes and worried look. But even after he was rude to you, you were still kind and tender to him. Childe smiled wryly and sadly, his heart poisoned by violent pain. He will never deserve you and your love.

Small garlands illuminated the bedroom, playing with its multi-colored rays and running across various vertical and horizontal surfaces. A cold wind howled outside the window, day turned to evening, and the dark blue color of the night spread across the blue sky. You lay on your bed and thoughtlessly looked at the screen of your laptop, the open web site with some article was successfully forgotten by you, because all your thoughts were occupied only with your beloved man.
For the past week since your last conversation, he had been studiously avoiding you, and it was completely unlike him. Usually he was the initiator of your meetings and the person who tried to be with you every minute of his day. You involuntarily blushed at these thoughts. Of course you couldn't be mad at Tartaglia. You couldn't and didn't want – your heart didn't want – to be angry with the person who was dearer to you than anything in the world, and you sincerely believed that there was a logical explanation for his strange behavior. And you will humbly wait for the moment when he decides to reveal his thoughts and experiences to you.
Thinking about it, you continued reading the article before you were interrupted by the beeping sound of your phone, notifying you that you had received a message. You reached for your phone, truly convinced that it was Yoimiya who had once again sent you a funny meme. But when you turned on your phone, your heart began to beat excitedly in your chest when you saw the name of the sender of the sms.
Childe <3
I'm in the park in front of your house. Please, I want to see you. I feel so bad.
Your heart was breaking into pieces as you tossed your phone aside and jumped out of bed, not caring at all that you were wearing your pajamas right now. With a messy bun on your head, you ran out into the hallway to put on your long coat and boots. Your pulse was pounding rapidly in your ears as you unsuccessfully tried to fasten the stupid zipper of your coat, which, as luck would have it, didn't give in to your efforts. You cursed, finally buttoning your coat, and finally ran out of the apartment, loudly slamming the door behind you.
In a coat that barely covered your body, with disheveled hair, you ran through the raging cold to the person for whom your heart beat. Your throat gradually began to torment with frost, and shortness of breath made itself felt, scratching your lungs, but all this didn't matter to you when Childe's heart was tormented by mental pain. You rushed to him to ease his pain.
You stopped in the middle of the park, trying to catch your breath. You were breathing heavily, your chest contracting with each uneven breath, and your cheeks were red from the cold. He sat in front of you on a lonely bench and looked at the endless sky full of shining stars that were reflected in his blue eyes. There was a sadness on Childe's face that was unknown to you, but even right now he was for you the most beautiful person in this world. Surrounded by endless white color and snowflakes falling on his ginger hair, he looked like a prince who had escaped from the pages of a fairy tale book.
Small clouds of steam left your mouth, flying upward, and this seemed to bring the man out of his thoughtful state, because he had finally noticed you. Tartaglia looked blankly at your fragile figure, which was shaking from every whiff of the cold frosty wind. The ginger man looked up at the sky again without saying a word to you. He looked tired, and you had the feeling that he was holding a thousand and one thoughts within himself that he had never been able to share with anyone. You wanted to scream that you were ready to be a person for him, who would share with him every good and bad day, and you were ready to finally break the silence, but...
But your words died in your throat when you noticed his pink lips twitch slightly, foreshadowing the words that were about to be spoken. You held your breath.
"My parents are getting divorced." Your heart sank in your chest when you heard those words. The ginger man's face remained impassive, but you could feel with every fiber of your soul how much he wanted to scream in despair right now.
His parents are getting divorced... So that's what it was. You understood exactly how Childe was feeling right now because your family also had to deal with this terrible event. Your father left your mother when you were still in kindergarten, and Xiao was still just a baby. You remembered how difficult it was for your mother, so you perfectly understood how painful it was to see your loved ones suffer. This feeling is comparable to hellish agony, tearing your body apart and not leaving a single living place on your skin.
How much you wanted to hug the ginger man right now and whisper to him that it would be fine, that you would always be by his side. But you were afraid to scare him away by again taking rash steps, as at your last meeting. You understood that you weren't able to change other people's decisions that were made, but you could at least be with him in these moments and give him the support he needed right now.
So you, trembling from the cold, timidly extended your hand to him and began to say in a hoarse voice, "Childe, I..."
Suddenly the man interrupted your words.
"Ajax."
You were taken aback, "W-what?"
The silence between the two of you was interrupted only by the howl of the raging wind and cars honking on the roadway. His blue eyes finally looked back into yours, and your heart began to beat faster in your chest as you could see the small hint of tenderness in them again. For some reason a sad smile appeared on the lips of the ginger man as he looked into your eyes, filled with sincere regret and love.
"My name is Ajax."
Ajax. Ajax, Ajax, Ajax. A-j-a-x. His name sounded like a treat to the ears, like the most beautiful love song you had ever heard. You wanted to repeat his name an infinite number of times, and it would never be enough for you. You savored his beautiful name in your thoughts, it sounded so tender, so magical and it fit him so well. And you really wanted to feel how his name would sound on the tip of your tongue.
"I'm sorry it took me so long to tell you my real name." The man continued to talk, the wind played with his ginger hair, mercilessly developing it in different directions.
"I-it's okay!" You were quick to let him know it was fine. Sitting down next to him on the bench and completely oblivious to the bad weather raging around the two of you, you carefully extended your hands to him.
Tartaglia nodded, relief flowing throughout your body as he gave you the opportunity to touch his hands again. Your skin touched the skin of his hand, and you felt thousands of sharp needles of cold pierce the skin of your palms. His hands were very cold and chapped, and you worriedly wondered how long he had been sitting here alone before texting you. You squeezed his hands in yours, trying your best to warm his frozen skin.
You looked into his blue eyes, letting him know that you were ready to listen to everything he told you. And that you're ready to share every ounce of his pain with him and be with him in this difficult period of his life. Ajax took a shuddering breath.
"Father is going to take Tonia, Anthon and Teucer to Fontaine for the Christmas." His voice trembled slightly, and you could only guess whether he was trembling because of the cold or because of carefully restrained emotions and feelings. You felt him tighten his grip on your hand and your soul cried salty tears as you helplessly watched as he ran his free hand through his ginger hair, looking completely lost and helpless. "He wants to take them, Y/n. He wants to leave me and my mother with nothing."
You bit your lip until it hurt, trying to get your thoughts in order and not panic. For Ajax's sake, you had to be strong. Childe was in despair, and you had to help him overcome this state at all costs. You couldn't watch how your loved one suffered. So you took a deep breath before the words left your lips.
"My father left the family when I was still a small child." Ajax's eyes widened in surprise when he heard your quiet words. His ocean blue eyes instantly found your big, sad eyes and you smiled timidly at him. A lump formed in your throat, preventing you from speaking, but you overcame this small obstacle only for the sake of the ginger man sitting next to you. "Xiao was still just a baby then, and I saw how difficult it was for my mother."
Childe, despite the pain and despair tormenting his chest, tightened his grip on your hand, giving you a feeling of support and care. Now you two could be truly honest with each other, you were a stronghold of care and love for each other, you were both united in the desire to become the most reliable people in this world for each other.
"I often cried from powerlessness at that time, but over time I realized that tears and despair wouldn't help me." You looked at the starry sky, from where white fluffy snowflakes were falling. They fell onto your face and dissolved on your skin, melting from its heat. "There are many moments in life when people fall into despair, but they should never allow despair to consume their entire life."
You smiled timidly at the ginger man and touched his cheek, red from the cold, with your free hand. Ajax pressed himself against your hand as if this was the only meaning in his life, and you were the only person who could give him absolute peace. He reached out to you the way young grass in spring reaches out to the bright, warming sun in the hope of receiving warmth and affection.
"That's why I'm here by your side to ease your pain. I won't let you drown in despair."
The man's heart was bursting with boundless love for you when your words reached his ears. He could endlessly ask the Universe what he did to deserve this salvation given to him in your guise. In your every smile, in every word, in every look that you gave him. You were his guardian angel.
"We will definitely get through this together." You tried to smile tenderly at him. "If there is even the slightest possibility that I can help you with something, you can always ask me about it."
"I know it, Y/n, I know, but..."
He breathed out shakily, burying his face in your palms, and fear rushed through your veins when you felt droplets of cool liquid rolling down the skin of your hands. Ajax was crying in your arms and you couldn't do anything about it. Your heart was breaking into pieces and you felt a tear roll down your cheek, falling onto his ginger hair. You were both so small, so helpless in this cruel world, and it seemed there was no way that you two could feel that wonderful feeling of happiness again. You listened carefully to everything that the ginger man told you. His father was going to limit Childe and his mother's communication with Tonia, Teucer and Anthon.
"There is going to be a divorce hearing soon and the judge will decide who my brothers and sister will end up with. My father has too much influence and he will never let me and my mother win this case." Childe breathed out shakily as you gently cupped his face in your hands, forcing him to look into your eyes.
"Please don't despair, I'm sure we will find a way to deal with this. I will always be with you, no matter what." You said in a confident tone. The two of you looked into each other's eyes and couldn't look away.
"I'm so tired, Y/n... I'm so tired of being a person who has everything and more, but has no way to solve my problems." He was trembling violently, completely lost and helpless.
You squeezed his hands in yours again, listening to his every word.
"The company, the cars, the countless sums in the bank – I would trade it all for just being an ordinary person and living happily with my family. Happily to live with you." Your heart sank when you heard his last words, his blue eyes looked straight into your soul and wanted to take your heart for himself and never give it to anyone.
Now the only thing he really wanted was to let go of all his problems and just dissolve into your arms. And he couldn't imagine a better moment for this.
"Having it all I only have half an hour to be myself. I only have half an hour for love. I only have half an hour to love you." These words left his lips and filled the space around the two of you with a beautiful trill.
Your heart froze in your chest, filling with a hot fire of excitement that burned you to the ground. Your chest was filled with blooming flowers, forming a bouquet of your beautiful feelings for Tartaglia. It was like a wonderful dream. Hearing words of love from the person you loved more than anything in the world. And you could sincerely believe that you were sleeping right now if it weren't for the severe frost tormenting your throat and body.
"You... love me?" You asked, stuttering mid-sentence, the fear that you had misheard enveloped your entire being, and your lips trembled slightly from the cold. Your doe eyes sparkled with hope and faith, reflecting the light of lanterns and falling glossy snowflakes, bathed in the light of the stars and the moon.
Ajax, absolutely mesmerized by your beautiful look, carefully raised your frozen hand to his lips and, scorching your rough skin with his hot breath, left a kiss on the back of your hand, "Yes."
It took your breath away when your eyes met his again, and his face lit up with a bright, happy smile for the first time that evening.
"I love you with all my heart."
Completely enchanted by his words, you didn't notice how a small tear rolled down your cheek. Your heart was filled with boundless happiness, and this feeling couldn't be compared with anything else that you could ever experience in your life. A feeling of euphoria washed over you. Tartaglia's eyes widened and he hurried to ask excitedly.
"Y/n, why are you crying? Does something hurt you? Are you cold?"
You touched your cheek excitedly and found a small wet trail of tears. Noticing the man's worried face, you rushed to reassure him and tell him that you were fine, "O-oh, I'm fine! Don't worry!"
Childe breathed a sigh of relief.
Gently grabbing the man's hand, you placed his palm on your cheek and squeezed his hand with yours. His ocean breeze caressed your sandy shore. Smiling happily, you whispered, "I love you too."
A wave of relief washed over the ginger man when he was convinced that his feelings were mutual. That's all he could want right now. You, so beautiful, small, in the bright light of the evening lanterns with blushing cheeks — it was the most beautiful sight he could ever see. Not a single painting, not a single masterpiece of architecture, not a single beautiful sunset or sunrise could compare with your beauty. You two looked into each other's eyes, completely enchanted by each other. Your hearts beat in unison and sang songs about mutual and eternal love.
Led by desire and an infinitely loving heart, Childe shortened the distance between you, and his lips found yours in a bright kiss of love and boundless passion. The most beautiful and magical feeling of happiness and joy spread in your chest, dispersing your frozen blood throughout your body when you felt Ajax's lips on your lips. His lips were slightly chapped, but, nevertheless, it was passionate and tender, giving you boundless caress and pleasure. You timidly kissed him back, and the ginger man intertwined your tongues in a passionate dance of love and adoration.
It was so frantic and hot, and the sensations made you dizzy. Tartaglia pulled you closer to him and sat you on his lap, enjoying the sweet taste of your lips — he ate it like the hungriest person in the world. Like a traveler lost in the desert who was lucky enough to find an oasis, he kissed you as if tormented by an unquenchable thirst for you. You were his air, his water, the meaning of his life. You were everything he ever wanted. In the bright dance of white snowflakes falling from the sky, in the light of the stars and the moon that witnessed your love, the two of you were people kissing the person you loved more than anything in the world, and this could be called true happiness. This cold winter, you both warmed each other with your love and your kisses.
Sharing your first kiss with the man who was your first and only love, you felt like the happiest woman in this world. You wished that time would freeze in place and you both would remain in this magical moment forever. Ajax gently broke your kiss, a glistening string of saliva connecting your lips, signifying your first shared kiss. His arms tightened around your waist, the man enjoying the weight of your body on his lap — this was your place by right.
He carefully leaned a little closer to you, enjoying the beauty of your eyes that looked at him lovingly. Ajax pressed his forehead to yours and rubbed his nose against yours, and the happiest smiles appeared on your and his faces as you happily hugged his neck, breathing in the pleasant smell of his hair. Your little joyful laughter filled the space around you, and Childe's soul finally felt such long-awaited peace.
The ginger man nuzzled his nose into your shoulder and squeezed you tighter in his arms. You were everything he ever wanted. And Tartaglia wanted to be with you, even though he was engaged to another woman.
He doesn't care. He doesn't care about anything or anyone.
Right now, you were the only one that mattered to him. And even though you two have to go through absolute hell, you both will be infinitely painful and sad – in the end you will still be with him. He will move the highest mountains, walk across hot lava and swim across the wildest river just for you. You were the only woman Ajax saw standing next to him. You were the one with whom he pinned his dreams for the future.
Baby, you were his picket fence.

TWO — you can feel it on the way home
october 14th
"No, it's okay. I just miss you," you told your boyfriend over the phone.
"I miss you, too. See you next weekend, though, yeah?"
"Yes. Can't wait. Love you."
"Love you, too," Lando said before hanging up. You put your phone away and tried to ignore the teasing smile Liana, Mat's sister, was giving you. She stepped back into the bathroom to finish getting ready.
You were back in New York for a few days for Mat's season home opener. Liana was staying with you in your apartment for the week she was here, which their parents took a hotel room, since the two of you were also very close. She was a few years younger than you and Mat so for a while she was his annoying little sister and you both excluded her, but eventually as Mat got busier with hockey you came to love her like your own sister.
"Honestly, I'm just surprised you're still with him," she said after a few minutes, stepping back into the room. Before you had time to react to that statement though, she elaborated. "We all just thought when you moved to New York you'd both finally get over yourselves and start dating."
"Who?," you asked confused.
"Who?," she said dramatically, dropping her makeup brush from her face. "Please, (y/n). We all know you and Mat have been doing it for years."
"What?!" You almost screamed. A laugh burst out of you, but a new emotion came up as well. One you couldn't quiet put your finger on. "We're friends."
"Oh, please! As if you haven't done it. What the hell were you doing in his bedroom all these nights then?"
"Wha- We-. No! We're friends. That's it!" You had difficulty forming sentences, confused as to why she was accusing you of sleeping with her brother.
"So you've never even kissed?"
"No!" Now she was sporting the same shocked look as you. That was technically a lie. You and Mat had kissed once, but it was during a game of truth or dare when you were 15 so that hardly counted. You chalked the butterflies and electric touch you shared up to teenage hormones and alcohol and only thought about that kiss in your deepest dreams.
"Wait, who else thinks we're more than friends?"
Liana hesitated for a bit before answering. "Uh, your family, my family. Pretty much everyone who knows the two of you." Your jaw dropped. You couldn't believe it. "Yeah. We all talk about it behind your back all the time."
"Oh my god," you moaned humiliated and buried your face in your hands. "Why?"
"I don't know. You always act like you're a couple and there's a vibe."
"You're basing this off of a vibe?"
"Yeah! Especially since everyone feels it. We just thought you didn't want to do long distance, that it was just a casual thing, when he moved to Seattle and then here that's why you didn't tell us. And then when you moved here we were all just waiting for the call to tell us you were together." Your head fell in your hands again. "I'm pretty sure your dad started a pool to see how long it would take. Well, turns out we all lost."
"I assure you Mat and I are just friends! Always have been, always will be." She raised her eyebrows, shaking her head.
"I don't know girl, I'm sensing a lot of love between you. It's kind of gross actually how you energy you give off every time you look at each other."
"Well, then your senses are off. I'm in a great relationship. Lando's great. We have a lot of fun together. I... love him." You stumbled over the word 'love' as a lump in your throat formed. You were having difficulty saying and believing yourself as you started to question your relationship with Mat. You were just friends, right? Years of friendship flashed in your mind. There were times you thought about kissing him or when you thought you were attracted to him, but he was always dating girls almost the polar opposite of you so you never thought too much about it. You often cuddled on the couch while watching a movie or were affectionate with each other but a lot of your female friendships were the same so why would this one with Mat be any different just because he's a guy.
"Okay. If you say so." Liana returned to the bathroom and came out a few minutes later ready to go.
With a final few sprays of perfume you were ready to head out as well to catch the train to UBS arena. Liana sensed your mood and didn't bring the topic up again.
You met their parents and the rest of the Isles ladies and families at the arena. You went to the family area first, where they were hosting a bit of a welcome back party with lots of food and drinks for the players families. Sydney, Matt Martin's wife and your favorite life of the party, immediately came over with lots of hugs and interest about your last few months. You hadn't seen any of them since the last season ended and even before then not much since you started dating Lando.
"I still can't believe you hung out in Monaco all summer. I'm so jealous."
"I was there like a week total. But yeah, it was so much fun."
"Mat and Lando got a long?," she asked as if she already knew the answer.
"They did! Why is everyone asking me that?" She chuckled.
"Just a lot of male energy." You shook your head with a forced smile. What Liana told you not too long ago rang in the back of your mind and you felt nauseous all of the sudden. Why was the thought of you and Mat being together romantically suddenly such a big deal? You'd always seen him as a friend but now the second you thought of him your heart started pounding.
"Nope. All good." You forced another smile. "Excuse me."
When you somewhat gracefully exited the family area you purposefully chose to head to the bathrooms further away to avoid running into more people. You needed a few minutes to collect yourself and sort your mind from all of the confusion.
Again, flashbacks and memories from the years of friendship with Mat surfaced your mind. However, you were looking at them through a different lens. Every touch, every smile, every fight brought up a different emotion than it did in the moment. Your heart swelled at the thought of him and you started craving his touch.
But Lando… The guilt over your little crisis crept in and only made this whole situation worse. When you met Lando, you were done with school and were just trying to figure out what you were going to do with your life. You loved that your job offered so much flexibility and opportunity to work remotely, but you couldn’t really see yourself doing the whole mundane 9-5 thing yet. And Lando was able to give you that carefree travel lifestyle that you were craving so you jumped into a relationship. It all moved very quickly. You relationship was serious enough that you could honestly say that you loved him, but not enough to have thought about a future with him. You never indulge in the thought of where your relationship was headed so you just enjoyed the moment. You were young. Now was the time to do it.
With that conclusion in mind, you pulled yourself together in the bathroom stall and got your phone out to text Mat. He should still be able to see it before he had to get ready to step on the ice for pregame.
you: made it! score a goal for me tonight, will ya :)
mat: will do my best
mat: see you after if you don’t get too drunk
you: hey! that was one time! those cocktails are strong!!!!
mat: lmao I was told you had 5…
you: I had a bad day:/ and you were losing…
mat: won’t happen today ;)
you: good! break a skate and don’t show off too much
mat: never :)

The game actually did go very well and Mat scored his first goal of the season like he promised. You were sat in the lower bowl with Mat’s parents and sister and some of the other family members. While Buffalo did score first in the period, the Isles came back with three goals in the next two and won the game.
This just made the after party a lot more fun. You all met up at the players favorite bar, not too far from the arena for a chill after party. Or at least it started out chill but escalated to a club vide rather quickly as the boys were riding that first win of the season.
When Mat had joined you, things were awkward at first when you saw him, but only because you made them like that. He didn’t even notice anything was wrong. He was glowing and grinning like a champion and hugged you like that as well, spinning you around until you got dizzy.
But you remembered your little pep talk in the bathroom that solidified you decision. He was your friend. Nothing more. Because you had Lando. With the help of a few drinks, acting more natural around Mat became easier.
You danced and laughed and watched him get increasingly more drunk with each song that played. Eventually you had enough and pulled him to a private corner to talk. He never drank like that, especially not during his season. “What the hell is wrong with you?,” you yelled at him over the music.
“What?,” he slurred, leaning against the wall for support.
“That! Why are you so drunk?”
“Where’s your boyfriend tonight?,” he countered as if he didn’t hear you.
“What?” The change of topic threw you.
“Your boyfriend. London. Landon. La…” He kept mumbling random names as if he was trying to find the right one.
“Lando,” you corrected him in a snappy voice.
“What kind of name is that?” He laughed, drunkenly, and almost fell over had you not caught him and pushed him back against the wall.
“Says Mat with one ‘t’.” He shrugged.
“Where is he anyway? Too busy for you?” You rolled your eyes and could feel yourself getting angry at him. While it was true Lando was busy this weekend with promo stuff for McLaren, it wasn’t a big deal.
“Yes. He’s an athlete with a busy schedule. You should understand.”
“He’s always too busy for you. You’re always gone to see him but every time I call or text you’re never with him. He always has this or that. Why are you with him?”
Here it was. What he wanted to say months ago he could finally get it out. “What is your problem with him? He’s not done a single thing to offend you. Yes, he’s busy but I don’t care. I have plenty of things to do and see while he’s doing his job. You should be happy for me.”
“How can I be happy when you’re not with me?! And I know that fucking selfish of me to say but I fucking miss you!” You grew soft at his admission, but only for a second, because he continued. “He doesn’t know you like I do. How can he make you happy when he’s never around? His job is so dangerous, he could die at any moment. Then what? If he gets fired then what? You’d still be with him?”
“Fuck, Mathew, so what? You’re job isn’t that much more reliable than his? You constantly on the go, too! You could get fired or injured at any moment, too. So what? What the hell is your issue?” You didn’t realize you started yelling. When he didn’t respond you lightly pushed him out of anger to try and force a response out of him. “So what, Mathew? Give me a real answer. I’m so sick of this. Of you being so passive aggressive for no reason. What? So what? What is your-” His eyes darkness and he pushed off the wall to stand taller.
“He doesn’t fucking love you like I do.”

Hi hi thanks for the request🤗 I hope you enjoy this
[21:39]
"If you listen to me, you will never be like this."
"I don't like hurting you. So, you better be good before I killed your sister in front of you."
"You asked for it, y/n."
Those were the words you would hear everytime you cause a trouble. Everytime you try to run from the house, he eventually caught you before you can even go far. Each time that happened, he will punished you badly. Whether it is physical or mental, he will make sure you learn the lesson.
And that's why you decided to stop doing it. Stop trying to find a way. Stop causing a trouble. At first, your sick husband being skeptical thinking that you tried to fool him. However, it's been months you acted like that. You listened to him and being affection towards him and that made him believed that you finally submit to him.
"Y/n, what do you want to eat for dinner?"
"Can we get Chinese foods, Hoonie?"
"Sure, my angel. Come here. We can watch movie while waiting for it to arrive."
"You know, I'm glad that you finally listen."
You stared at Sunghoon who was eating his meal. He gulped the food before talking again.
"I'm happy that you finally understand me."
Your boyfriend looked really happy. His expression reminded you from the first year you guys being in relationship. You wondered how can he changed to this personality.
"I realized you are right. About the world is more dangerous and I could get hurt if I go outside. I'm sorry for not listening to you earlier."
Sunghoon's heart couldn't be more happier when you said that. He watched you smiled fondly at him and continue enjoying your food.
"I will leave and be back before dinner. Do you want me to buy anything?"
"Nope, I'm good. Be safe."
"I will and you be good. Okay?"
"Yes, my love."
Sunghoon kissed you before he went out of the house. You smirked when he finally left the house. You will use this opportunity to run away from him.
Before this when Sunghoon goes out, you will go out from the house and search a way for you to run without easily get caught. Then, you will be back immediately before Sunghoon back to make sure he didn't feel any suspicious. You had planned this for months and now finally you can use the route.
You changed your clothes to more casual so you can move easily since the area you need to go is the forest.
You started your journey with some snacks and water for your energy. The walk was a bit dangerous since there might be some wild animals and you still aren't familiar with the area. You keep walking for hours and rest for few minutes in between before you saw an inn meters away from you. You ran immediately to the place thinking that you finally escape from Sunghoon.
The inn looked empty since you didn't see any cars or travelers around. You walked closer to a young man that just came out from a room. He looked attractive even though his attire just ordinary. His sharp jaw made him more handsome.
"Um, excuse me?"
He turned to you. Looking confusely. Probably because he didn't expect anyone at this time.
"Yeah, how can I help you?"
"Well, I have a problem and I need a ride to town. Can you please send me there?"
"Hmm, I don't have any vehicle that can be used now. How about this, you stay at my inn for a night and tomorrow you can share ride with one of my customers. He often send home essentials every morning so I can ask for him to send you."
Well, it's not really bad even though you hope you can go to the town now. You agreed with his suggestion before following him to your room.
"Can I borrow your phone too?"
"You...don't have a phone?"
"Ye-yeah. It's broken before I came here."
He stared weirdly at you before shrugging. He showed the old phone that was located inside your room.
"You can use that phone."
"But...it looks old."
"So? It still can be used. Don't worry."
You sighed and just went inside. The room is not big but good for staying for a while. You rested your body on the floor. You can't wait to finally out from this place and Sunghoon. You have been waiting for this to happen. Before you completely sleep, you tried to call your sister. You felt awkward using the old phone at first but you got it eventually.
You groaned after the you failed to connect with her few times. You tried to think positive maybe the line here is not really good so that's why it's hard for you to reach her.
You sleep peacefully that night thinking you finally can be free.
You woke up when you felt someone was caressing your hair. Your eyes slowly opened up as you still felt sleepy. You saw someone sitting beside you. You blinked once again before started to see the clear picture.
When you recognized the person was Sunghoon, you shockingly woke up and backed away from him until your back touched the wall.
"Ho-how..."
"You really make me angry, Y/n."
Sunghoon just stared at you. There was no expression showing on his face. But, you knew better that he will not let this matter down just like that. Since you betrayed his trust, you will face harder punishment than before.
"Sunghoon- oh, you finally woke up."
You turned to the inn owner. He looked at you with bright smile.
"I'm sorry I didn't recognize you yesterday. When Sunghoon called and asked me, I finally remember who you are so I called him here."
You wanted to throw up. Panic started to increase and you felt suffocating. You can't move since you were still in daze so Sunghoon pulled you up and brought you out from the room. His hold on you was very tight that you could felt it started to bruise.
"Thanks for taking care of her, Jay."
"You are welcome. Make sure she will not run away this time."
"Oh, I am sure she can't go anywhere anymore."
_____
Sunghoon brought you to the basement. You smell a very strong smell when you entered the place. He didn't say anything from the time both of you were in the car until now and that's really scared you. You rather he shouted at you than being silent.
He stopped moving when both of you reached in front of punchbag. Two punchbags to be exact. You glancing confusely at Sunghoon before watching him took something from a drawer. A knife. He took out a knife and put your hand on the handle.
"I want you to choose between these bags."
"What...what do you mean?"
"Choose Y/n. Don't make me more angry at you."
He left you stood alone between the punchbags and went to sit on the couch near you. You still stood clueless and you looked to Sunghoon demanded details.
"Choose one of the bags and I want you to stab on it."
You didn't like where is this going. This is not how he usually do when he wanted to punish you. Why...why he looked so calm? You didn't like this situation.
"Hoon....I still don't understand."
Sunghoon sighed and decided to go behind you and hugged your body while his hands holding yours at the same time. You can felt his breath behind your ear.
"Let me help you then. Now, choose y/n. Left or right?"
"Hoon, I- I can't do this. You can hit me or do anything like what you used to. Please."
"Choose. I'm serious this time, y/n. Choose."
You were already in sobbing state but your boyfriend ignored it and still waiting for you to speak. You calm yourself down before staring at the punchbags in front of you. Why would he made you do this? Did he asked you to choose what type of punishment you will get? You gulped down your nervous and stated what have you decided.
"The...the right one."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"You made a good choice then."
Without saying more, he jerked forward your right hand to stab the punchbag that you chose. However, as you focused more you saw liquid dripping from inside. You dropped the knife when you realized the liquid was blood. When Sunghoon took his hands off, you fell down to the floor with your hands shaking badly. Your boyfriend smirked and whispered to you.
"Should we take a look what's inside, Y/n?"
You wanted to say no but all the courage inside you has gone. You watched Sunghoon took the knife and sliced the punchbag until something or more to someone fell on top of you. You screamed and closed your eyes when the blood hit your face.
"Open your eyes baby. See it."
Slowly, you opened your eyes and saw a pair of very familiar eyes staring at you. You screamed again and threw the body to the floor beside you when you recognized it was your sister. Your dead sister was in front of you right now. You suddenly threw up and felt the tightness on your chest. You crawled to your sister and sat beside her body while holding her head.
"Unnie. Please, wake up. I'm sorry I didn't mean it. Unnie, please. WAKE UP PLEASE AAARGHHH"
You tapped her cheeks few times trying to help regain her concsciousness back. Even though you knew, there was no pulse nor slow breath from her.
"WAKE UP!!! I'm- I'm sorry I didn't mean to do it. I don't want to do this."
You turned to Sunghoon with full of rage. He didn't react and just waited for you to do or say something.
"You...you asshole. How dare you? HOW DARE YOU KILL MY SISTER!!!"
"I killed her? Are you forgot that you were the one who chose it. You made the choice, Y/n. You killed your own sister with your hands"
"NO! I DID NOT! YOU MADE ME KILLED HER."
"Look at your hands now, baby. It's your sister's blood and look at me, it's clean unlike you."
Once again, you started to hyperventilate and started to hit your head and chest trying to get rid of the tightness. You suddenly heard voices talking.
'You killed her'
'You shouldn't betray Sunghoon'
'This is your fault'
'Now suffer the consequence'
"Ahhh stop talking!! I didn't kill her!"
You hit yourself many times to protect yourself from the voices. You screamed and sobbing when it became worse. You moved to Sunghoon while still on your knee and hugged his leg begging for help.
"Make it...make it stop Hoon..I- I can't hold it. Please."
Within few seconds, you passed out after Sunghoon jabbed the needle he was holding on your neck. He called someone to clean the mess and carried you upstairs.
_____
You woke up from the sleep after few hours. You felt like you just had a worst nightmare ever. But then, when you looked on your clothes and hands you realized it's not a dream. The blood stain is still there and you felt like shitty remembering what happened back in the basement.
You sat on the bed quietly until you saw Sunghoon came in with small towel and bowl of water. He didn't say anything and just clean your face and hands from the blood. He also changed your dirty clothes to a new one and sat in front of you after finished doing it.
Both of you didn't talk. You looked down to your fiddling fingers and Sunghoon just stared at you. As like he knew you wanted to say something but you are afraid to do so. At last, you lifted your head and looked at him.
"What...what do you do to my sister?"
Oh, how soft your voice. Sunghoon melted at the sound of it. He caressed your face and leaned closer to you so he can kissed you.
"Bury her, of course. I would not keep corpse in this house, y/n."
It was a dumb question but you somehow really need assurance from Sunghoon that your sister finally not suffering anymore. You hope that he at least bury her at good place.
Sunghoon finally stood up. Before he walked away, he tied a cloth on your mouth and your hands to the bed. Again, you felt confuse with the act. He went to the front bed and facing you. He stared at you or more to your legs.
"You will run away again."
He tapped on your left leg.
"I don't want that to happen."
He tapped on your right leg.
"So, I should prevent you from moving."
You screamed out loud when you felt your bone on the right foot broken. You were trashing on the bed trying to let yourself off from the rope. It hurts so much and you started to cry because of the pain.
"Now, you can't run away anymore."

summary: when you convince Yelena to go out with the flirty barista serving you, you begin to realise that you may actually like her yourself.
warning/s: mentions of a breakup, shitty girlfriends and the mildest of angst.
author's note: here’s the second and final part! who doesn’t love a bit of yelena? i’ve got a multi-part alicia clark imagine coming up next 🥰
part one / masterlist / wattpad
Tumblr media
Whenever bad things happen, everybody thinks it's the worst it can be and that they'll never get out from it. And that was exactly how I felt with the whole Thomas situation. Turns out all I needed to do was share my feelings with somebody.
After Yelena discovered the truth about our break up, it became a lot easier for me to move on from it. I didn't feel like I was holding it all alone, and if I ever did feel lonelier than usual, she was always there for me to call.
I was surprised she didn't do something horribly irreversible or probably illegal to him in some form of payback, considering she was still very much pissed about the whole thing. I'd made it clear I didn't want her to, and I was very appreciative of her listening to me.
A month passed and I didn't even care for Thomas anymore. It was easy to let it all go, to an extent. I tried to focus on myself again and appreciate what I did have in my life. And one of those things was Yelena, of course.
We were out on a coffee date during our lunch break one day. It was nice to get out of the Compound, especially during the few breaks I got, and Yelena happened to be mission-free so was able to join me.
"Sorry, one second, my phone keeps vibrating," she said when we were mid-conversation.
I waited patiently, watching as she quickly flicked through her messages.
"Who is it?" I asked, before sipping my iced coffee.
She sighed, tapping away quickly before locking her phone. "Just Nat. She can't find her hoodie."
"Oh, d'you know where it is?"
"Uh-huh."
I quirked a brow. "And you told her?"
"I told her I don't know," she said casually, before slurping her fruit drink.
I tried not to laugh as I glanced at what Yelena had on. "Is it the hoodie you're wearing by any chance?"
She didn't respond, but a smile curled on her lips as she met my eyes playfully. I chuckled, shaking my head at her silliness.
"I don't know how you're so confident lying to her. When she finds out, she'll be so angry," I said.
"She doesn't scare me," she answered with a shrug.
I raised my eyebrows in disagreement. "Seriously? She's intimidating as fuck! The Black Widow!" When Yelena didn't seem to agree, I scoffed quietly. "Honestly, I probably never would have talked to her if it wasn't for you. She's scary."
Yelena snorted with amusement. "Please. Natasha is the least intimidating person ever. Even you're more intimidating than her."
I rolled my eyes playfully. "Of course you're saying that. You're her sister after all."
Enthused, Yelena leaned back in her seat and eyed me curiously. "I'm now wondering what you thought of me when we first met."
"Well, I thought you would be intimidating," I began, suppressing the urge to smile, "but then you came in because of a bad mission report and started pouting like a baby when I corrected you. So, from there, I knew you were harmless."
She opened her mouth with disbelief, lifting an eyebrow. "Wow. Seriously?"
"You're a softie deep down, I know it," I said convincingly, and she tried not to smile but it was impossible.
"Whatever," she mumbled, avoiding my eyes.
I grinned at her pout and the fact that she was only proving my point. "It's true! You would do anything I ask. Soft–ie."
She scoffed under her breath, crossing her arms, only making me laugh. I knew it and she knew it, but it was okay. That was why I loved her.
"Sorry to interrupt, but are you finished with your food?" a waitress asked, stopping by our table.
"No worries, that's fine, thanks," I said to her politely.
She smiled, nodding, before stacking them and saying, "Can I get you any dessert?"
I shook my head, but Yelena bit her lip as she glanced at the dessert menu sticking out between the salt and pepper shakers.
"Hmm, maybe," she mumbled, before pulling it out to have a proper look.
I crossed my arms and leaned back in my seat, amused. Of course she'd want dessert.
"You know, the chocolate cake here is very good," the waitress recommended, leaning down slightly to point it out on the menu to her. "Or if you're not a cake person, there's pie."
"That looks pretty good actually," Yelena agreed, nodding slightly.
"Something sweet for someone sweet," the waitress flirted, glancing at Yelena with a smile.
Either oblivious or not knowing how to react, Yelena clapped her hands together and nodded. "Well, I can't say no to that. Can I get a slice of your apple pie with some ice cream, please?"
"You got it," the waitress agreed, eyes lingering on Yelena a lot longer than normal, before collecting our plates and leaving.
I raised my eyebrows, trying not to laugh, as I looked over to Yelena with disbelief. Feeling my stare, she looked up and raised her chin.
"What?" she questioned.
I glanced over at the waitress who was behind the till getting her pie, and then back at Yelena. "What? Seriously? Did you not see what I just saw?"
Confused, Yelena tilted her head. "What? The picture of the pie? It's on the menu, Y/N, of course I saw it."
I tsked, shaking my head, before giving her a knowing look. "That waitress, idiot! She was totally into you!"
Taken aback, Yelena shook her head. "Pfft, no she wasn't. You're seeing things."
I rolled my eyes. "Yelena. She was literally checking you out."
"She was taking my order, that's all," she disagreed, getting comfortable in her seat. "It was good customer service is all."
I snorted. "Okay, whatever you say."
The waitress soon returned and gave Yelena her dessert, and not without checking her out yet again. Yelena glanced at me disapprovingly when I gave her another look, but said nothing else. We chatted for a little longer, her enjoying her dessert and me finishing my drink, before my lunch break was over and I knew I had to get back.
The same waitress – whose name tag read Andrea – gave us the bill and let us split it. But just as I predicted, she wrote a little something extra on Yelena's card receipt and slid it over to her before leaving.
"It's her number," I said with amazement, laughing when I put my jacket on. "I was freakin' right! God, I'm good."
"Maybe you were," Yelena said with mild surprise, looking at the receipt, before putting it in her pocket. "Probably won't do anything with it."
I quirked a brow. "Seriously? You should talk to her. She seems nice. And she was definitely interested in you."
Yelena considered it, glancing at the till where Andrea was serving another customer.
"It's really easy," I assured her, realising she'd never dated before because of her past, and so this would all be new to her. "No pressure or anything. Just approach her and say hi. And then the rest will play out itself."
"I don't know," she said, looking back to me with disinterest.
"Yelena, go over there," I said with encouragement. "You'll be fine. Promise."
She hesitated, watching me as if searching for confirmation. When I nodded, she took a deep breath and went over to the till. I smiled as I subtly watched their conversation, too far to hear anything but it looked like it was going well. Yelena was smiling shyly which was rare with her, and Andrea seemed to be enjoying the attention, checking her out and flirtatiously touching her hand on the counter.
Without thinking much of it, my smile faded when I saw just how flirtatious she was acting. It was a little icky to witness and left an unpleasant feeling in my stomach. I think I felt... jealous? Which was stupid, because I'd literally talked Yelena into going over there and I had no reason to be. But seeing it all play out was a different story, and a small part of me wanted to yank Yelena away and forget this ever happened.
It was a momentary feeling, strange, and I tried to ignore it. She was my friend and this was the first time she was putting herself out there – I was merely being overprotective.
Though, when Yelena finished her conversation and left with slightly pink cheeks, I realised it might have been more than a little jealousy I was feeling.
Trying to push that to the side, I plastered on a smile as we walked out the store. "So? How did it go?"
Yelena shrugged, smiling a little. "Alright. You were right. She was nice. I said I'd call her."
"That's great," I said, sounding excited for her, but I wasn't too sure I actually was.
"Enough of that anyway," Yelena said, giving me a sideways glance. "We don't want you back to work late. Let's go."
"We've got time, don't worry about– woah!"
I was cut off when Yelena put her hand out across me, stopping me from walking further forward. A cyclist suddenly sped past us, inches away from knocking me down if she hadn't stopped me, and I widened my eyes with surprise at the suddenness of it all and also the feeling of Yelena's hand protectively over me because she still hadn't let go, even when she yelled out a string of Russian curse words to the cyclist. It was kind of attractive, admittedly, seeing her so protective, and that's when I realised...
Oh, no.
"Are you okay?" she asked, finally dropping her hand and looking to me with concern.
I swallowed uncomfortably, avoiding her eyes. "Yep. All good here. Thank you."
She breathed out with relief, squeezing my arm gently. "People can be such idiots."
She began to rant about how inconsiderate some cyclists could be when riding on the pavement, but I was barely listening. The realisation that I may be attracted to my best friend was enough to silence me for the rest of the walk back to work.
Tumblr media
It didn't long for me to realise that, yes, I do in fact like my best friend.
Though I tried to pin it down to a momentary lapse of judgement, or a mere appreciation for the beauty that was Yelena, I knew it wasn't that. More so when she actually began to see Andrea outside of the coffee shop and went on a few dates with her. The jealousy that went through me was too fierce to be purely platonic. And I hated that I only noticed too late.
Despite this, I tried to be as supportive as possible, especially because it was Yelena's first true taste of a relationship. There was a chance I was finding things to pick on without meaning to though...
"She's just really nice," Yelena was telling me one day after another date she'd been on. Her smile was permanent and she was gushing, making me feel icky because it was about someone else. "We went bowling and it was simple, but she makes me feel good. I didn't think it was possible, you know? I'm usually the one who doesn't feel like this, but something about her..."
She sighed contently, probably falling into a daydream about her, and I couldn't exactly do anything about it because I was the one who pushed her to go out with her.
"Does she know who you are?" I asked, trying not to seem too interested, when deep down I hated the irrational jealousy in me.
She shook her head, trying not to laugh. "I'm not stupid. Of course she doesn't. As far as she's aware, I work in admin at S.H.I.E.L.D."
I narrowed my eyes without meaning to. "So, my job."
She grinned, winking. "Exactly!"
I shoved her arm gently from across the table. "Just be careful. She's still new and you don't want to let anything slip up."
She gave me a disapproving look. "Y/N, I think you forget I'm a fully trained assassin. I don't let things 'slip up'."
I rolled my eyes. "Still."
And that was only the start. The more dates she went on, the more unreasonably jealous I was becoming. I tried my hardest to be supportive, but it was hard seeing her be so happy with someone else.
I wasn't sure how I'd never looked at Yelena in this light before, especially when she'd been nothing but kind and caring towards me. Probably because I was in a relationship, but now I wasn't and she was, so everything was the wrong timing. Whatever it was, I just knew that now I'd become aware of how great she was in a more-than-a-friend kind of way, it hurt seeing her with someone else.
But, like I said, I was nothing short of supportive. I helped her get ready for her dates, I gave her advice whenever she asked for it, and I even hung out with Andrea whenever they invited me. She was just as nice as she was at the coffee shop, except now I hated everything about her for the sole reason that she was dating Yelena and I wasn't.
It was a horrid feeling, jealousy. But I tried not to let it get the better of me. Yelena was in her first proper relationship and she needed support, not bitterness.
Unfortunately, as time passed, there were a few times when Yelena and Andrea would have plans and Andrea would cancel last minute, unaware of the way Yelena's feelings would drop in an instant. Or sometimes, we'd all be grabbing lunch together and she'd cut Yelena off mid-story, highjacking it with her own. I wasn't sure if it was on purpose or not, and Yelena never seemed to mind, so I didn't comment on it. But I always thought about it, hoping it wasn't my jealousy just picking things to hate on.
I knew I wasn't just seeing things when it happened again, though this time it was their two month anniversary (whatever the hell that meant). I was helping Yelena get ready at hers, doing her hair for her and listening to her ramble all about what she had planned and what restaurant she'd booked for the evening. She looked stunning, I wouldn't lie, but even more so because of the sparkle in her eyes and the glimmer in her smile when she talked about Andrea. As much as I disliked the girl, she made Yelena happier than I'd seen her. And as much as that broke my heart, it warmed it, too.
"So, the waiter said he'd prepare this special chocolate cake that's cut into a heart–" she was telling me as I put some pins in her hair to keep it out of her eyes, but was cut off by her phone ringing.
I passed it to her from behind me on the bed, happening to catch the caller ID as Andrea's. When she saw it, her face lit up and she answered it.
"Darling, hey!" she greeted, making me insides turn uncomfortably. There was a pause, then Yelena continued, "I'm almost ready and I'll come to pick you up. It's a surprise after all." She laughed, but then she fell silent, listening intently.
I finished her hair and smiled at my handiwork before taking a step back, only to realise the lovely smile on her face had disappeared.
"No, I understand," she said, voice lacking the same excitement it had all evening. A fake smile was on her lips as she looked down, playing with the hem of her dress. "It's okay, don't worry. We can reschedule. It happens all the time. Just a mix up, I know."
I frowned, wondering what was up, before watching her say her goodbyes and hanging up. It was quiet and she didn't say anything, so I decided to speak up.
"Is everything okay?" I asked gently, moving around so I could see her face.
She nodded, faking another smile as she met my eyes briefly. "Yes, but Andrea won't be able to go out this evening."
I raised my eyebrows with surprise. "What do you mean? You've got a whole plan. I thought you were picking her up."
She bit her lip, looking away. "She didn't realise she'd promised she'd go out to a party with her roommate tonight. Mixed up the days."
Without thinking twice, I said, "What the fuck? That's rude."
Yelena shook her head, visibly upset but defensive. "No, it was just an accident. Her roommate needed a wing woman and she promised she'd go. She said she'd make it up to me."
"Yelena, that's not an excuse," I told her with furrowed brows, not recognising this version of my friend. "It's your two month anniversary, right? You both knew the date. She should have cancelled with her friend and chose you."
"Y/N, just leave it," she said quietly, before standing up and taking out the pins in her hair.
"No, I won't leave it," I said, earning her attention. "This isn't the first time she's cancelled on you last minute. You put a lot of effort into tonight and she should be here!"
"It's not a big deal," she defended again, and it frustrated me to no ends because if the roles had been reversed, Yelena would have killed the person who did this to me. But ever since she'd dated Andrea, she'd become submissive.
"It's a dick move, Yelena!" I exclaimed, and she clenched her jaw. "She's a–"
"Don't," she warned, shooting me a look. "Don't talk about her like that."
"You always defend her," I said with disbelief. "Yelena, she does this regularly! And not just this."
"Oh, just say how you really feel," she said sarcastically, turning to walk to her wardrobe so she didn't have to look at me.
"Ever since you began dating her, it's like you've changed," I finally told her what had been on my mind. "She makes the decisions. She tells you what to do. She cancels, she takes advantage of your patience and you let her! That's not what a relationship is!"
"Stop talking badly about her!" she shouted suddenly, spinning around to glare at me. "I don't know where all of this is coming from, but stop it! It's not your place, Y/N!"
"Yes, it is!" I shouted. "She's a shitty girlfriend, Yelena! Who the hell leaves someone alone on their anniversary?! And for what – a dumb party?! That's fucked!"
"Stop it! You–" She began to curse in Russian, looking up with frustration, before settling her fiery stare at me. "You're the one who told me to date her!"
I scoffed. "Well, that was before I knew how badly she'd treat you."
"No!" she yelled, pointing an accusatory finger at me. "Stop it! You don't– fuck! You don't get to say all of this now! Not when–!"
Stopping herself, she squeezed her hand into a fist and looked the other way. I hated that she couldn't just see how badly she was being treated, how she couldn't believe me when I told her.
"Whatever, enjoy your cancelled date," I told her with a frown, before grabbing my phone and leaving her place.
So much for being supportive, I guess.

THIRD PERSON POV
"She's just being such a– such a–"
"A concerned friend?" Natasha filled in for her sister, making the blonde groan with frustration.
"Why are you sticking up for her right now?!" Yelena exclaimed. "You're supposed to be on my side!"
"Sorry," Natasha apologised, hardly meaning it.
Since Yelena burst into her room at the Compound the following day of her cancelled date, ranting about how rude Y/N was being and how she didn't approve of Yelena's relationship, Natasha was forced to hear it all.
"She doesn't get to comment on this!" Yelena continued to rant, more upset than angry, Natasha noticed. "I waited for her, for crying out loud! I– fuck, I was in love with her and she didn't see that, so no! She doesn't get to tell me what my relationship is."
"I mean, regardless of all of that, she wasn't wrong," Natasha commented, wondering if she'd regret it given Yelena's current emotional state right now. "The way Andrea treats you... it's not how a relationship is supposed to be."
Yelena narrowed her eyes at her sister. "Are you just team Y/N all the way now? Didn't know you loved her so fucking much."
Natasha ignored her bitterness and continued, "I'm not taking sides, Yelena. But I've seen how Andrea treats you, heard from yourself how she treats you. It's a dick thing to do."
Yelena clenched her jaw. "You've never said this before."
Natasha sighed, looking over her cup of coffee and to her sister. "I didn't want to get involved in your first relationship. It's something you had to figure out yourself. But Y/N... she cares about you and said it first. She's right. You deserve better, Yelena. And you're only not listening to Y/N because you're holding a grudge at the fact that she didn't love you back. That she didn't know you loved– love– whatever it is, her. But that's not fair to hold against her when she doesn't know. You didn't tell her and that's on you. Not her."
Yelena began to unclench her jaw and looked away, her anger fading and being replaced with hurt. There was truth to Natasha's words, she knew that, but she couldn't accept it just like that. It wasn't fair. She waited for Y/N. She wanted her. And when she finally had her chance, Y/N convinced her to ask Andrea out instead. All Yelena ever wanted was Y/N. It should have been her.
It wasn't fair.
Tumblr media
YOUR POV
Yelena and I had never argued before, not like this. Small, stupid, petty arguments, sure, but never this. I hadn't seen her as angry as I had that evening. We hadn't gone this long – a whole week – without speaking, ever.
I missed her.
After being left alone to replay that evening over in my head, I knew I shouldn't have snapped like I did. Letting my concern and jealousy both get the better of me like that... it wasn't fair on Yelena. She didn't know how I felt, she couldn't have, and I was the one who talked her into dating Andrea. I couldn't take it out on her like I was, so I knew I needed to apologise. And tell her the truth, even if it meant saying goodbye to our friendship forever.
I went to visit her at her apartment, hoping she'd be in and also actually let me see her. Sucking up a deep breath, I knocked on her front door and waited. Finally, the door opened and Yelena was standing there, certainly surprised to see me. She didn't look like she wanted to punch me in the face, which was a positive sign...
"Hey," I said, embarrassed at how quietly it came out. Clearing my throat, I repeated myself, "Hey. Hi."
She pressed her lips together, green eyes flickering between mine. "Hi. I didn't expect to see you here."
"I know, sorry for showing up unannounced." I swallowed the lump in my throat. "I understand if you want me to leave, but I came here because I want to talk to you. I need to apologise, Yelena."
She raised her eyebrows, clearly surprised. "I see. It's funny you say that. I was actually going to visit you. I wanted to apologise also. And talk."
I was surprised, not expecting to hear that, and as much as I was curious about what she felt she needed to apologise for, I knew I needed to go first, it already on the tip of my tongue.
"Can I come in?" I asked nervously.
She nodded, stepping to the side. I let myself in, stopping in the hall and not inviting myself in any further.
"Y/N, I–" she began after closing the door behind me, but I cut her off instantly.
"Please let me go first," I pleaded. "I have to tell you something important. It can't wait."
She nodded reluctantly, eyes locking on mine as she waited for me to speak. This was it. The truth. Possibly the last exchange I could have with her if it went so badly.
"Firstly, I'm sorry for how everything went down between us last week," I said with a frown. "I shouldn't have flipped on you like that without warning. What I said... it could have been said better, at a better time and in a better place. But Yelena... it's true. I don't want to see you being used like that and forgotten about. You're amazing and you deserve the world."
She looked down at her shoes uncomfortably, and I worried I was going too far. But I sucked it up and powered through.
"The reason I was so bitter about it was because I was concerned as your best friend, yes, but also because I was jealous. I'm in love with you, Yelena."
Shocked, she looked up at me, eyebrows raised. Realising what I said, I cursed inwardly and tried to backtrack. That wasn't how I planned to tell her.
"Sorry," I said quickly, "that's not fair. You're in a relationship and–"
"We broke up," she cut me off abruptly.
I blinked, confused. "What?"
"That's what I was going to tell you," she said softly. "I broke up with her. You were right. I deserve better."
It was my turn to be surprised, eyebrows raised and her words digesting. "Oh."
It went quiet between us, our words hanging in the air, and I didn't know what else to say when she watched me closely.
"I've been in love with you for a long time," she finally spoke, taking me by further surprise.
"What?"
She released a deep breath, sad smile on her lips. "You never knew and I couldn't tell you because you were my first real friend. And I didn't want to ruin that."
She'd been in love with me this whole time? How was I so blind to miss it?
"Since when?" I asked, like it would make a difference, genuinely shocked by this revelation.
She swallowed thickly. "Do you remember that time when we went out to that sushi place? And I accidentally dropped the soy sauce all over you?"
How could I forget? It was shortly after we became proper friends and was the funniest thing to happen at a sushi bar. I smelled like soy sauce the whole afternoon at work but I didn't even care because Yelena was so embarrassed it was adorable.
"Yeah," I answered quietly.
"Since then," she said awkwardly, looking away.
I opened my mouth to say something, but I didn't know what to say. I was too taken aback, overthinking every moment since that sushi date. She'd been in love with me for that long?
"Well, now what?" she asked nervously, a nervousness that was rare with her but reminded me she wasn't just the stoic assassin everyone thought she was.
I pressed my lips together, eyes studying her expression with intrigue. She was avoiding my stare, eyes glued to the ground, and I let mine fall from her bright eyes to the slope of her nose, the dip of her cupid's bow, the fullness of her lips. She loved me, too. But she wouldn't make the first move, that much was clear. Why wait any longer?
"Maybe I could take you out on a date," I offered, earning her attention. "A proper one. And I can show you how you're supposed to be treated. How you deserve to be."
I held my breath, portraying a confidence I definitely didn't feel inside. I was certain she was, too, the both of us awaiting an answer that felt like it wouldn't come.
And just at that moment, her phone began to ring.
Startled, she pulled it from her pocket and checked the screen before declining the call. Clutching it tightly, she looked up to me again, eyes flickering between mine.
"I–"
Her phone began to ring again, only making the nerves in my stomach tighten with each passing second.
"You should answer," I told her before she could decline it. "It could be important."
Reluctantly she nodded and let out an annoyed sigh, putting the phone to her ear. "Hello?"
I couldn't hear the conversation, but it sounded like her sister and there was a sense of urgency in her voice. Something must have been up. Yelena kept a passive expression, humming before promising to be there and saying her goodbyes.
"I'm sorry, I have to go," she said afterwards. "There's an emergency at the Compound."
I smiled, hoping she couldn't see my deflated expression, and shook my head. "No, it's okay. You go. I'll leave, too."
Turning around quickly with the only thought of mine to curl in my bed and sulk, I tried to leave, but Yelena grasped my hand and spun me back around. Before I could ask her what was up, she pulled me close and kissed me.
I closed my eyes, wrapping my arms around her waist like it was second nature, and kissed her back. It was gentle, lasting only a few seconds, but my cheeks flushed and my lips were tingling when she pulled away.
"I would love to go on a proper date with you," she muttered, a smile creeping on her lips. "It's all I've ever wanted."
I began to smile, too, speechless and breathless all at once. I could have stared at her for a long time, merely admiring her pretty eyes and heartwarming smile, but I remembered her sister's call and reluctantly pulled apart.
"You should go to the Compound, it sounded urgent," I told her.
As if suddenly remembering, she breathed out and nodded. "Right, yeah."
"Let me know if everything is okay and if we need to rearrange tomorrow," I told her, going to the door. "Be safe."
"I will," she promised, unable to stop smiling, just like me. "See you, Y/N."
"Bye," I said, bringing myself to leave because if I stayed a second longer, I knew I'd end up pulling her in for another kiss.
I left and the smile on my face was permanent, I was certain.

Reader --
"You're so quiet, Oppa. Is something wrong?" Tzuyu is in the passenger seat of your car, you're driving her to the amusement park where she planned to meet your father.
"Yeah, I have things on my mind." You've never been shy to share your problems with her. It has always been like that growing up. "But let's talk about it later, Tzuyu-ya." You decided it's not the best time to talk about it, about what happened with your morning.
"You? Are you nervous or something? It's your first time meeting him." You tried to shift the topic to other things, and you couldn't find a much better subject than what's at hand. Both you and Tzuyu never really talk that much about family, it's not that it was completely forbidden. Somehow both of you just understood that some things are just best to be left alone, you two were enough for each other growing up.
"I don't know, really. I should hate him right? After what he has done to you, to us. But I don't think I do." She looked away and gazed outside. You have seen that look before.
"Does it bother you, that you don't hate him?"
"In a way, but it's not just that. When I think about it, he and I are in the same boat, we're the ones who ruin everything when you were just a child."
It was the first time she shared that sentiment with you, you had no idea she has been carrying this baggage all along. Your heart, already heavy felt even more.
"Well I don't hate him too, not anymore at least." You have finally been able to utter some words after you organized your thoughts and calmed yourself.
"He has made so many unforgivable mistakes, but you're not one of them. I don't know where I'll be now without you." You continued.
Tzuyu smiled, or scoffed maybe at the cheesiness of your line. Either way, you knew she found comfort in your words.
"I sometimes don't really know what to make of you Oppa. You are way too unapproachable to the people that don't know you, but way too kind for those who do."
Before you could answer her, your phone rang. You answered the call through your car's console and signaled your sister to be quiet, of which she acknowledged.
"I'm at the entrance, Doc. Where you at?" There's the voice you always want to hear. Surprisingly your girlfriend arrived before the both of you. The traffic did not help your travel time. You informed her that you're close and will arrive shortly.
The amusement park is not that crowded since it's a weekday, but it's still not that empty either. You saw your girlfriend from afar, it's impossible to miss her and her orange hair. She waved at you when she finally noticed you and Tzuyu. She's beautiful in her loose Betty Boop shirt, with a ribbon in her hair and a take-out beverage in her hand. You think she dressed a bit more casual than she needs to if she's meeting your father, but it's an amusement park and you realized you're supposed to have fun.
She ran to meet you and hugged you right after. You on the other hand have a different plan as you kiss her lips the moment she wraps her arms around you. Obviously she was taken aback, but responded when she gathered herself.
"What are you doing?" Sana slapped your chest gently as she reminded you of your sister's presence, but doing it after the kiss did not have any merit. You looked at Tzuyu's direction and you have seen her cover her eyes with her fingers spread apart, goofy and smiling.
The three of you went on your way right after to see your father. The man was clearly nervous when he noticed you and your company. Unexpectedly Tzuyu went ahead and ran towards him, and hugged the man so tight. So much for introductions, you realized the two of them didn't need it.
"We should give them the opportunity to share the moment themselves." You stopped walking maintaining a distance between them with Sana beside you. It seems she was moved by the sight too, nodding and trying to stop her tears. You know there's more to it, your girlfriend has her own issues with her father. It's a completely different situation but a similarity nonetheless.
"Damn, I think I am way underdressed for the occasion." She suddenly blurted. You smiled, you were going to comfort her but it looked like she dusted herself off quickly.
"You're beautiful, baby!" You reminded her, she always is. Sana smiled widely and grabbed your arms as she scooted closer towards you.
"How are you feeling?"
You paused for her timely question. Looking at the two people at a near distance, emotional on the reunion. Again, you are conflicted about it all but you know it's cruel to not let it happen just because of your meddling emotions.
"I am relieved to be honest. Hate is not the healthiest of emotions, and I am glad Tzuyu doesn't share what I feel about him before."
"She looks so happy, and we should be happy for her." Sana added. And she is right.
Tzuyu finally called you over after some time. Not that the wait bothered you, you'll give them all the time they require. You greeted your father with a small bow, and introduced Sana as your girlfriend right after. All of that was business like and professional, it was clear that you are still unsure on how you feel about your father. You may not hate him anymore but it didn't mean you forgot about everything.
Good thing the two ladies with you were cheerful or it would have been a very awkward encounter. Immediately, Tzuyu insisted that you enjoy all the rides that you can. To your father's credit, he did his best to accompany your sister to all that she wants to do; like a father who wants to make up for lost time. However that also means you got to tag along too since your girlfriend was also having her fun as well.
Amusement park rides have never been your type of thing. You have never experienced it when you were young, and always viewed it as a risk. You cringed at the idea of having to scream on top of your lungs, of how uncool it must have been while Sana and Tzuyu enjoyed every second of it.
"I wish I could record you when you're losing your mind up there Doc. I never knew you were a scaredy-cat." Your girlfriend was teasing you when you all were thankfully back on solid ground. The three of you sat down occupying a vacant table while your father insisted on buying the corn dogs. Amidst all the teasing however was Tzuyu, silent and in deep thoughts. Sana stopped when she noticed it too.
"Thank you Oppa." Tzuyu said when she realized all the attention was shifted to her. "I know all this has been hard for you, and here I am shamelessly enjoying my time with Dad."
"If you're happy then that's all that matters to me." You answered her, and cheered her up. It may be true for now that it was hard on your part but you know all wounds heal in time. You're hoping yours will be no exception.
Sana --
"Let's see if you can finally win me a teddy bear here."
It's a claw machine, your last stop before leaving the amusement park. Sana was having a blast teasing you with your terrible skills at game stalls. You always use the inexperienced excuse but it didn't help. Here is another entry to add to the list of things she discovered that you're not good at. After leaving Tzuyu and your father behind to have more time, Sana insisted on playing and lingering around a little longer by yourselves.
"What will I get if I get you a stuffed toy?" She heard you ask.
"What do you want?"
"You." You hastily replied.
Sana interpreted it as something more than romantic. No one could tell her otherwise. "Me? What do you want to do with me?" She played along, her senses heightened. Excited, in more ways than one.
"I want to fuck you, baby."
Sana did not expect you to be that straightforward as you whispered your answer in her ear. She couldn't deny that lust excites her for what's to come; a tingling sensation in her spine. It has already been proven that she has some kind of a kink for adventurous sexual encounters just like that steamy little session you had in your office.
"You better win, Doc."
And you did, nothing drives you better than having the motivation. You managed to grab the biggest teddy bear first try. Sana thought it was all about the steady hands, but it's more thrilling to think that it's maybe about the prize.
"Come with me." She found herself tugged by you after you handed her the stuffed toy. She knew about the what, but didn't know about the where. She hoped it would not be that public, although there's that voice in her mind saying that she didn't really mind.
Things unfolded really quickly as the mix of adrenaline and lust blend together into this great need to satisfy yourselves. The destination was your car, and you're already there in record time. You reclined the passenger seat as far down as it can, then Sana immediately took her place, cradled in your lap.
The scene was hot to say the least. Sloppy sounds of lips kissing, the curses and moans, the satisfied little noises. Add in the fact that there are clearly people outside, Sana was kind of losing herself. The setup was not comfortable but it didn't matter. Your hand slipped under her shirt and groped her boobs. The other was slowly rubbing her entrance.
"You can fuck me right here and now baby." She was slowly getting desperate. "You said you want to."
"Did I?" You act all foolish and unknowing, teasing her clit by tracing her folds
Sana's chin heaved upward, your fingers moved faster in circles this time. She felt it, and she is in shivers. Hands clutched the strands of your hair, fingers digging on the scalp, she tried all that she could to anchor herself from the overwhelming pleasure.
"What do you want me to do, Sana?"
Somehow her name sounded so sensual as it slides on your mouth. In normal circumstances, she'll be whining by the lack of endearment. However as it currently stands, it sets off her basest desires; carnal and dirty.
"I want you to- shh I want you to undress me, shower my body with kisses." Sana managed to complete her sentence in between her gasps.
"And then?" A finger now slipped inside her. It was wet and warm, and she's quite sure she stained her underwear already.
"Then you'll spread my legs, and fuck me with your hard dick." Her language surprised her.
"Straight right to fucking, huh?" Your words are literally fuel to her burning desires. It's the hushed tone, the naughty question, the knowledge that there are people outside that drove her more. Sana's eyes dilated, clouded and dazed and wanting. She's crazily wet, your fingers are making sloppy sounds as it plays with her sensitive clit. Before she lost her mind, she kissed you; it was more of biting but who the fuck cares.
"And I'm going to cum." Head thrown backward and the back arched, she let herself go. Creamy juices flowed on your hands and spilled over her underwear. It's going to be a mess on your car but then again, who the fuck cares. The kissing continued after her breath stabilized. Sana is not going to let it end like that, hell no.
"If you ask me if you could fuck me on the hood of your car, damn I will let you." Sana took off her shirt exposing her perfect sweaty tits; her bra already removed earlier.
"I'm greedy, baby. I won't let anyone else see what's mine and mine alone." You fondled her breasts passionately.
She smiled at your response, she knew there is no possibility of that happening but the way you turn her down was so damn smart. "Fair enough, let me ride you until you cum then." Sana made quick work of her promise. You dick was hastily whipped out and slid in her wanting pussy.
Sana humps and gyrates, her soft tits bouncing as she moves. Your moans lit the fire inside her, stoking the very need for you to cum. What a sight it is, her orange locks flowed in the rhythm of her voluptuous body; even she thought it was hot as hell.
"I love you, Sana." She heard you in your desperate attempt to extend it a bit longer.
"I love you too, Doc."
Then in the chorus of moans you both reached orgasm. She spent her time recovering from the highs on top of your head. The usual fluffy cheesy banter you always share after sex followed. You helped her wear back her shirt and you both laughed at the mess you made inside your car. All was going well and good.
Decided that you'll head to the penthouse to freshen up as Sana desperately needed one, she fastened her seatbelt for the ride. Out of nowhere a sudden shift of weather, droplets of rain were visible on the car's windows; then it poured. Immediately, she looked towards you to see you trying to calm yourself. "I'm here, Doc." Holding your hands tightly.
You returned her smile in which she found comfort. "Do you want to drive?"
"I can but I have no license here. I'm sorry."
"Well, I guess we have to stay here until the rain clears up. I don't think I can drive."
Sana held your hand to let you know that you're not alone, that she is there. Then the next set of events shocked her. You removed your seatbelt and opened the door, stepping into the pouring rain. "Yah! What do you-" She's too late, the door was already closed before she could ask completely. In panic mode, she searched and ransacked her bag for an umbrella but failed to find one. Out of options, she imitated your actions and bolted outside completely confused.
Quickly running around to the side of the car where you stood, she found you already drenched and severely shivering. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?" She was ready to scold you, hitting your chest.
You reached out for her hands. She could feel the fear yet now she understood. "It's alright, I'm here." She hugged you as you both got soaked in the rain. She realized it was your way of trying to conquer the fear, of trying to brave the storm that loomed over you for years.
"I'm sorry I dragged you into this." You whispered in her ear.
She was struggling to keep her eyes open but she did her best to look at you in the eye. "I can't imagine how scared you are right now, but you're doing great baby."
"Do you think Mom is looking over me?"
It's a very delicate question. "Definitely, and I think she's really proud of you too."
There was a pause as you continued to stand there and let the rain pour over you. Sana could still feel you shaking, of course it's never going to go away that easy. The mere fact that you're standing in the rain showed your resolve to conquer the fear, a proper display of bravery. "You should be brave, baby. We need to, for what's to come."
"Did you say something, baby?" It seems the heavy rain drowned her voice. Sana decided it was a good thing. Knowing you and your never ending concern and curiosity, you will not let it go without digging up the reason for your words. She put on a mask to hide her worries and smiled brightly as she nodded her head. "I said I love you."
Reader --
It was dusk when both finally managed to take a much needed shower after you got soaked in the rain. The day is not yet done however, as your orange haired girlfriend suggested doing one last thing. You couldn't really say no to her, she persuades you that easy. Next thing you know, you're driving again.
After a stop at a drive-thru of a Chinese restaurant, you then arrived at an artist's studio. Sana just barged in without even knocking and you see this small framed woman casually in her calvins painting. If the paintbrush didn't give it all the way, you're still quite sure that she's the artist by her free-spirited vibe and the meaningful tattoos.
"Will you tell your girlfriend she should knock first before entering someone else's place?" She looked at you with some splashes of paint in her face. You smiled at her remarks.
Sana then introduced you to Chaeyoung whose art career recently took off after a successful gallery exhibit. Of course your girlfriend talked about her many times before and you are finally able to meet her now.
Chaeyoung immediately cleared out a table so you can eat your take-out dinner but not before Sana told her to cover up a bit.
"Are you afraid that Doc here will check me out, unnie?"
"You're too sexy, I don't like it."
You and Chaeyoung look at each other with disbelief written on your faces. "You're going to have to get used to it if you're going to be working here." She said looking at Sana, innocent and oblivious about her words.
"Working here?" You're visibly confused, trying to find contact with Sana's eyes. She's avoiding your gaze by looking anywhere but yours.
Chaeyoung promptly stood up, reading the situation. "I'll step outside. You two need to sort it out." Then proceeded to leave and walk out the door.
"I know the consequence if we don't do anything about what my father wants." She started. "It's your reputation on the line, Doc."
"I didn't do anything bad that'll ruin my reputation. It's not a crime to love someone." You're still acting all proud.
"I know you already understand this. It's not that simple but you're too smart for your own good. It's a partnership on the line, technology, equipment, funds, everything that will greatly benefit the university hospital."
"Then just because of my selfishness, just because of love I'd be denying all of that. I know." You finally admit your defeat.
"Besides, I'm not leaving. I'm still going to be here. I'll be working here." She moved closer to you and immediately embraced you. "I think it's the best course of action for us now. I don't want to give my father that leverage anymore."
You nodded. "But let me first talk to him again for the last time. It's a long shot but I'll take it."
You felt her nod on your chest.
--
The next morning rolled around and you find the usual hospital noise quite ominous. Sana decided to take the day off again, her landlady Mrs. Kang still feels sick. Anyhow, you found her absence quite stressful given the situation. You feared something would happen with her without you even knowing.
You have to get your thoughts sorted out, you have a major surgery scheduled. However, taking a step inside your office two gentlemen awaits you again. Second straight morning, Sana's father and the hospital director expected your arrival. Ever the professional, you bowed to give them their respects.
"Your director here brags about how diligent you are, Doctor. Is he lying?"
"My apologies, I just have some personal things that needed sorting." You maintained a straight face.
"I never knew that Mr. Minatozaki's daughter is working as your medical secretary. Is it true that you're dating her?" Mr. Cho has been clearly filled in with the situation which puts you into a more precarious position.
You originally planned to literally bow down to Sana's father to ask him to reconsider and prove to him that you love his daughter. All that was kicked out of the door, there's no convincing the hospital director to not give what Mr. Minatozaki wants. He has got nothing to do with the situation personally and you know he's going to prioritize the hospital like any director would do.
"Your daughter resigned already." You pulled the last card you have up your sleeve. Both you and Sana talked about this very thoroughly last night.
"What?" Her father asked you somewhat angrily.
"That woman is so stubborn." He briskly paced back and forth.
"Do what you can to convince her to go back to Japan, or you two can forget about this whole partnership." He took one last look at the both of you and Mr. Cho before he walked out the door.
Mr. Cho immediately followed but not before he begs you to do what Sana's father wanted for the benefit of the hospital.
"As far as I'm concerned, this problem is completely off my table. You can fire me too if you want Director, I will take no offense with it." It pained you to say those words given how good a relationship you had with this man, but you chose love; an idea you wouldn't think you're capable of choosing a couple of months back.
--
Your day rolled out in a surprisingly regular one if you take out the fact that your girlfriend is not around. It seems the director didn't prematurely fire you off your job. The operation took more than six hours to be completed successfully so it was already dark when you finished. Curious about Sana, your team inquired about her and you filled them in too. Inevitably of course, you told them about the possibility of you getting fired.
"Doctor Park here will make a good surgeon so you don't have to worry." You reassured them.
"Come on Doc, don't say that. I still have so many things to learn from you." He responded.
"Do you want me to surrender Sana so I can keep my job?" You asked but jokingly.
"No, I just want the Director to see there's no good in firing you."
"We wish the best for you Doc, and out Sana-shi too." Jihyo interjected herself.
You thanked everyone for being supportive and of course for doing a good job. Entrusting the rest of the procedure to Doctor Park, you head out to inform the family about the good news. And as customary, you spend the calmness of post operation technically alone.
In your quiet office, devoid of any resemblance of happiness aside from the picture of you and your mom, you sat on your chair and closed your eyes a bit. Only when you remember to check your phone, you moved again and reached out to it. You expect some kind of message from your girl to check on how you are, or if there isn't you'll check on her on how she is.
You froze on the last message that she sent not more than 10 minutes ago. No way it's going to happen at a time like this. You hurried out and rushed to the emergency reception area. To no surprise the ambulance is already in the process of admitting the patient. Emergency procedures have fortunately been taken care of.
In the distance, you saw your girlfriend completely distraught about the whole situation. Her landlady suffered a heart failure as she informed you on the text message. She is following the wheeled stretcher her landlady was transported on. You followed her until you caught up to her at the entrance of the emergency room.
She leaned on the nearest wall and was supposed to sit down on the floor as her legs gave in, but she saw you running towards her.
"It's going to be, okay."
She burst out crying without even saying a word. She didn't have to. You understood the whole circumstance and there's nothing better you could do but to be with her and pray that Mrs. Kang will be okay as you tighten your embrace.
Minutes turned to hours as you both quietly waited for the result. Then finally the doctor came out of the door and looked for the family. Absent on the immediate family, Sana was the one to accompany her. The operation was thankfully successful. Although, it's not all good news. Her heart is in dire need of replacement.
Sana, not being her legal guardian could not decide on anything so you both need to find the closest relatives her landlady has. There was also another problem however. Given the uneven amount of heart donors to the people who needed heart transplant, the organ itself has its own waitlist absent of a fitting personal donor.
Your girlfriend was starting to lose hope. "She's going to be fine, my love. We will try and find a way." You just have to assure her.
You brought her to your office so she could rest while you work on finding the closest relative. You're hoping a couple of quick calls will be able to help you with it.
The door of your office opened and two gentlemen walked inside. Like a shark that smells blood, Sana's father came for her daughter with the hospital director in tow.
"Sana, my dear. Are you okay?" Her father asked her. Sana was indifferent.
"You just can't take her away, Mr. Minatozaki. The landlady that helped her while she's struggling here is sick and in need of an operation." You said defiantly.
"So I heard. That's why I'm here. It seems the dice have once again rolled in my favor."
There's a chilling ominous feeling behind his smile. Fuck! You cursed in your head. What is this man planning now?
---------------
To be continued.

For Me (Levi Ackerman x Reader)
Tumblr media
CHAPTER THREE: VIBE
The next day you find yourself with motivation to head to the gym. You bring yourself to your full length mirror and adjust your hair, slicking it back into a braid. Your outfit consists of an oversized t-shirt with leggings and sneakers. It's cold in Trost, so you grab your favorite jacket out of your closet.
At the gym, you spot Jean weightlifting with one of his friends. When he spots you, his face lights up.
"Hey!" Jean sets the weights down. "I didn't know you came here."
"The gym and I have a toxic relationship." You laugh, glancing at his friend.
"Oh, this is Eren." Jean steps back and introduces you to Eren.
"Nice to meet you. It's not often I see a woman willing to have a conversation with Jean." Eren shook your hand.
"Eren, you're a dick." Jean shook his head. "I'll let you get back to your workout. I'll see you tonight for dinner. I'm gonna text you the details after my lift."
"Sounds good." You smile, pulling your headphones over your ears. You start on the treadmill, catching up on social media posts and losing yourself in your playlist.
You watch your phone screen light up with a certain someone's name that you've had on your mind since you woke up.
LEVI: You're not home?
YOU: How do you know where I live?
LEVI: Answer my question.
YOU: Fine, but then you have to answer mine. Deal?
LEVI: Deal.
YOU: No, I'm not home. I'm at the gym.
LEVI: I know where you live because Google is free.
You roll your eyes at the text, but you can't help but giggle at his response. There should be red flags popping up right about now, but you quite possibly could be colorblind.
YOU: I'll be home in about 45 minutes. I have to get ready for a date tonight.
LEVI: With that corny ass kid?
YOU: Ding, ding. We have a winner.
LEVI: Are you exclusive with him?
YOU: No. This is our first date. You ask a lot of questions.
LEVI: I'm taking you out to dinner on Friday night.
YOU: Aren't you supposed to ask me, not tell me?
LEVI: I don't accept the word 'no'.
You set your phone face down on the treadmill and continue your workout. You catch Jean stealing glances of you while he's weightlifting with Eren, which you find cute. He's tall, taller than Levi. He's sweet and seems to be attentive. Tonights date should be fun.
________________________
You stare at yourself in the mirror after you go through the outfit options your sister suggested for you. You open the camera app and take a picture of the final look, sending it to your sister. She 'loved' the photo, signaling that you're good to go. You're wearing an off the shoulder sweater with ripped jeans and ankle boots. Jean never told you what kind of outfit you should wear, so you went with casual.
You feel your phone buzz in your pocket.
LEVI: Don't let him in your apartment after your date.
YOU: Ok dad.
LEVI: Daddy is acceptable.
If you keep rolling your eyes so much, they might get stuck at the back of your head.
JEAN: Here's the address! I'll be there in about 10 minutes.
You send a thumbs up emoji and grab your car keys. A quick Google search shows that the restaurant is of Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere looks fun and you love a good taco.
The ride to the restaurant was short, about 15 minutes. When you pull into the parking lot, you're not sure what car to look for since you have no idea what Jean drives. When you look at the door, you see him leaning against the railing. He's holding a bouquet of assorted flowers and has a wide smile on his face.
"Thank you." You say as you walk up to him, taking the bouquet from him. "This place looks good."
"I love it here. I've gotten wasted in that booth right there." Jean pointed at the booth to your left, letting out a chuckle. "The food is really good though."
The date was low key but nice. You and Jean were able to get to know each other a bit more. What he does for work, which is a boring office job, his hobbies, what he likes to do in his free time, etc. It's very easy to talk to him.
But, you get more of a friend vibe from him. One thing about you is that you don't like anyone easily. It takes a lot of mental connection before anything physical can occur. You felt a bit disappointed that you didn't feel that fire for Jean.
Jean paid for the food and pressed his hand to your shoulder to lead you outside.
"Thank you for dinner." You turn to face Jean. "I had a great time."
"I did too! We should do it again sometime."
"I need to be upfront with you, ok?"
"That doesn't sound good." Jean looked down, rolling his thumbs together.
"I just feel more of a friend vibe with you. Which I'm not opposed to. I had a lot of fun with you, and you're hilarious."
"Are you seeing someone else?"
"What? No." You shook your head. "I wish I felt a romantic connection, but I don't."
"Thank you for being honest with me." Jean nodded, his mouth curving to a half smile. "I would love to be friends."
You smile and hug Jean. "Thank you for understanding." You kiss Jean's cheek before walking to your car. "Gym tomorrow?"
"I'll see you there." Jean waved.
_____________________
LEVI: How was your date?
YOU: Wasn't much of a date. I won't be seeing him like that again.
LEVI: Did he hurt you?
YOU: What? No. I just don't feel that type of connection with him.
You weren't sure why you were telling Levi this, but he just feels like a person you can tell anything to and he will understand.
LEVI: Oh.
LEVI: Sweet dreams.
YOU: Sleep well.
You press your phone to your chest and close your eyes as you think of Levi's face. His chiseled jawline, his stone grey eyes, the way his raven hair covers part of his face but his eyes still pierce through you.
You shouldn't feel these things for Levi. His attitude is abrasive, but you can't help but be intrigued by him. You think of his lips, the way they move when he speaks. His hands along with his long fingers. You think about how they would feel on your body. The thought of him touching you made your heart beat faster. Him touching you all over your body. Your face, your hands, your hips, your thighs...
It's time for bed.

ahh okay if you still wanna talk about x files episodes how about wetwired? I feel like it's so underrated but it's one of my absolute favorites: the rob bowman lighting ~vibes~, the amazing acting from both gillian and david, the subtle but pivotal relationship building that (along w quagmire) leads us into the new dynamic of s4...I could talk about this episode for ages lol
always!!
wetwired is one that's just so heavy to me...it's all about worst fears. a killer in your yard. wolves at your feet. a woman with your husband. a lit cigarette in a dark night.
the killer isn't a shadowy figure or a monster from the forest or a man from the papers, it's your babysitter. it's your neighbor. it's you.
in wetwired, evil is transmittable, paranoia a communicable disease.
this show always understood that there is nothing special about mulder, that you don't know how you'll respond to grief or trauma or paranoia until it's you, and wetwired weaponizes this idea in it's monster-of-the-week's disintegration of scully.
suddenly, it is scully who is seeing cigarette smoke around corners. it's scully who is hearing clicks in phones and tearing her room apart looking for bugs. it's scully who trusts no one, who pulls her gun on her partner in fear.
these are all things that we've seen mulder do, but what is the line between caution and insanity? is it being right? is it seeking something that's actually there?
there's something so deeply scary and unsettling about scully, who is always steady in rationalism, who is always lucid and always wrong at the same time, chasing perceptions that aren't there.
Tumblr media
while his partner is caught in quick buzzing fear, mulder is measured in reality and in discovering the science behind what's happening.
i love this moment here when he's called to identify a body, when he's about to go witness something real, and he pauses in the car. stops to kick the door after speaking to the plain-clothed man. closes his eyes in the hallway of the morgue.
mulder can be swift in leaps and moves, but he will drag to the truth if it's too tangible, if it's too much to bear.
Tumblr media
in the climactic confrontation at maggie's house, paranoia gives way to wet, crippling fear. scully is halted in the overwhelm of the height of her panic, but still deeply affected by the grief in loss of trust.
mulder repeats her own words back to her verbatim ("i'm on your side, you know that" and "you are the only one i trust"), an attempt to communicate in a way she understands, in that language they have always had together.
much of what she's divulging has hung over them for years, as her worst fears are his worst insecurities. you are responsible for my abduction. you put this danger in my body. you killed my sister.
Tumblr media
this is my favorite moment here, when trying to rationalize gives way to instinct, and maggie steps in front of mulder. she knows that her daughter feels safe with her, and would never hurt her. she isn't putting herself in danger so much as taking over, telling her daughter to lay it all down, standing protectively in front of her partner.
i love this relationship between the two of them. they're bonded in who they know, but there were three months not too long ago when it was just the two of them.
Tumblr media
dana who was always the strong one, who apologizes for dying, collapsing in her mother's arms. the world being out to get you is one thing, having no one next to you is unendurable.
Tumblr media
"i was so sure, mulder. i saw things and i heard things and...it was just like the world was turned upside-down. everybody was out to get me."
"now you know how i feel most of the time"
some half-truths in playful banter and hospital rooms, it's a bit of a role reversal as clear conversation about mulder's theory leads to discussion of "worst nightmares," and scully answers, "like me thinking that you'd betray me."
a casual confession that carries just as much weight as the weeping ruin of the previous scene, the slow build of the episode is revealed in the end. that underneath the hum of paranoia and the rush of mania, is the quiet devastation of dependence.
it makes me think of what she says in christmas carol:
"ever since i was a child, i've never allowed myself to get too close to people. i've avoided emotional attachment. perhaps i've been so afraid of death and dying that any connection just seemed like a bad thing, something that wouldn't last."
dr. scully the pathologist, death's best girl, who sees people long after they're gone. she often is resigned to her own impending death, and grieves the inherent loss in others connecting to her; something that won't last when you're bound to leave them.
but in wetwired, she is frantic about her own attachments, how few things would have to change or go wrong for her to be alone in this fight.
she has so little left here. her sister is gone. i think she knows, on some level, what that chip in her neck means. and her worst nightmare is that it would all be for nothing, that she would be in it alone. that mulder wouldn't be there with her.

Your best friend tells you it's not possible that he's going to forget about you even if he's moving away and you feel like your whole world is being turned upside down without him, your heart fills up with love at that and you hug him goodbye and you hope he can visit soon...
Months go by and you call each other a few times but it always feels awkward like Will doesn't really want to speak to you, then you start calling more but he often doesn't even pick up the phone and you are missing him so much that you're going crazy... in the meantime you started sending letters to your girlfriend and you miss her too obviously but you are in constant communication and she now seems to be doing great without you... but you're constantly thinking about your best friend, he stopped calling as often and you really want to send him a letter too to ask him what the hell is happening and why is he just pushing you away like that but a letter would feel too romantic and intimate and you don't want to think about having those feelings you just want your best friend back
So, it's decided, you ask your girlfriend - casually - how is everybody doing there...? How are they? Joyce... Jonathan... And Will? (Do you know anything about Will??? Do you know why he doesn't want to talk to me anymore? Why the "not possible" was all a bunch of bs?)
and she explains: he has a crush on a girl and he's making art for her now... So.....
Oh.
And you think
makes sense because it's the same thing I did when I ignored my friends when I was fixated on kissing my girlfriend at the beginning of the relationship...
well, you find out about this the day before you have to see him again and this news is making you miserable and also kind of annoyed and you don't get why, it must be just because he's your best friend... Right?
I don't know. It feels weird knowing he likes a girl.
I don't know what this feeling is...
And then you're face to face with him and he's going to hug you acting like everything is okay??? Like you're not in a fight? What the hell... Well, I'm not hugging you and I'm gonna focus on El and...
What!? Angela? God, I hate this.
And why are you not speaking to me all day and acting, like, all pissed off at El now?? What the hell... and not only you didn't tell me about your new girlfriend!!! You didn't even tell me someone was bullying El?
I'm upset now. Are you upset?
Wait... Yes? You missed me too? I couldn't send you a letter it would have been romantic, Will!
Don't you understand that's weird? I can't have those thoughts about you, I'm literally dating your sister! Let's just find her because this is becoming ridiculously intimate and I'm still a bit pissed off at you...
and then boom... El lied (?) and the art was for you!!! 😍 But it was from El actually so... Like, tone down your happiness a little, Mike... Why are you so happy that Will doesn't have a secret girlfriend????????? Why are you kind of hoping that all of that came from him and not from her????

enhypen with idol crush plssss
warnings: written on phone, not edited
This kind of made me want to write a "Ni-Ki with an idol!S/O that debut very young", so let me know if you want that
Heeseung has been a fan since your debut. Since it's been quite a few years, he's more low-key about his crush now than he was in the beginning. He doesn't talk about you a lot, but he always plays your music during lives. The day he meets you though??? He's 100% getting a picture with you.
Jay is also quite low-key, but in a "I'm just a casual fan" way. I can see him participating in tiktok challeges that you or your group create. He'd also probably caption his instagram posts with your lyrics and if someone were to ask, he would say it's for "aesthetic reasons". If he were to interact with you, he'd try to act cool but it's obvious that he has some sort of feelings towards you.
Jake... I can't see him being able to hide it very well, especially if he's watching you perform live. He knows every lyric, every song, all the lore. He's always playing your music, especially any solos you have. He shys (shies?) away from you in person, so it'll take some convincing (the boys pushing him into you) for him to talk to you.
Sunghoon doesn't let anyone know. It's like his own secret that only his dog and little sister know. It's actually his sister's fault that he likes you. You're her favorite member, so she always talked about you to him. It was inevitable. He doesn't listen to your music a lot, but he enjoys watching your fancams and he has NOT missed a live. He interacted with you once as MC and his face was so red. Probably asked for a picture with you by saying "oh btw my sister is a huge fan".
Sunoo doesn't hide that he's a fan, but he does hide his crush. He used to go to your concerts all the time predebut, but he can't do that much now. I can see him actually kinda being friends with you?? Like he has your number and you talk sometimes, and you probably do tiktoks together. He'll NEVER tell you he likes you. It's gonna take a rumor for him to confess.
Jungwon didn't even know he had a crush until he sees you in person. He knew your group, he knew some songs, but he didn't really realize that he liked you. You met during an awards show and he found it oddly hard to talk to you. From that day on, he starts listening to your music more and he might try interacting with you a bit. You just make him really nervous.
Ni-Ki doesn't want to admit it, but you're one of the reasons he became an idol. Back home, he would learn all your choreos and he always went to concerts with his mom and sisters. He just admired you so much, and that admiration turned into a crush as he got older. He's always participating in your tiktok challenges too. He actually got to meet you after his debut and he thinks he died when you said you knew who he was. You??? Know Him???? Impossible. No way.

Ummmm the one day their mom was out doing her business whether that be hanging out with her friends or a simple me time (Leon encouraged her to do/spoil herself) is the day Violet got her period. And now Leon is standing outside the bathroom like 🧍‍♂️’oh’
I didn't know we were getting this into depth with the AU but alrighty. (No idea why tf I went so hard with this but I thought it was a sweet moment between them 😅)
It fucking suck too cause I know Leon would take his girls out for daddy daughter days and it definitely happened while they were out at the mall or something (cause it can never happen at home 😒)
(Average age is 10-15, 12 being most common, but we'll go with her being an early bloomer at 10. Violets an over achiever lol)
Leon's just standing outside of the women's restroom confused as to why one of his kids isn't out yet. He's just standing there casually holding his youngest hand. He's getting worried so he calls her from outside the bathroom, making sure everything's okay.
Violets panicking. Obviously. She'd been cramping all morning but not enough to cause alarm. She just thought she had a tummy ache from the big special breakfast Leon usually makes on daddy daughter days. But now... They're at the mall, she's stuck in the movie theater bathroom, her mother is away with her friends and her father... Is Leon. He's a good dad. Great dad even. But he's not good in awkward situations... Especially when he can't relate to the problem at hand. Her phone rings, speak of the devil it's him. She answers with a shaky hello
"You okay in there pumpkin?"
"No..." She whines, clutching her stomach.
"What's wrong?" She stays quiet for a few seconds, feeling incredibly embarrassed but she has no choice.
"I got my period." He's frozen, all the air leaves his body as he goes pale. Cecilia looks up at him, clutching her rabbit plush closer to herself as she looks at her mortified daddy.
"You what..."
"I got my period!" She repeats, raising her voice a bit, not meaning to but she's irritated. She's in pain and embarrassed. Even he wouldn't blame her.
"Okay... Uh..." He thinks for a minute. What would his wife do? "Was there any of those machine things on the wall when you went in?"
"Yeah..."
"Okay, I'll go get change for that. I'll be back honey. Just stay put."
"Can't really go anywhere right now Dad..." He hangs up looking down at his youngest.
"C'mon, we gotta go buy something to help your sister."
"What happened?" Leon starts walking, guiding his little girl along.
"Violet got her period."
"What's that mean?" He looks down at Cecilia, she's only 6, of course she wouldn't know what that is yet.
"She's becoming a woman." Cecilia nods, following her father to a news stand, buying a paper from the small rack and handing over $10.
"Can I get 5 of that in quarters?"
"Sure!" The clerk starts counting out change as Cecilia pipes up.
"We're helping my sister cause she's a woman." She smiles wide, Leon sighs as the girl in the stand chuckles and hands back his change.
"Well, good luck helping her. I'm sure you'll do just fine Dad." Leon grumbles a thank you before walking back to the bathroom. Making note of giving Cecilia a talk about privacy later.
Making it back to the bathroom he crouches, getting eye level with his youngest and holds the change out in his hand.
"Okay, I need you to pay attention. You need to go in there, and the big silver box on the wall should have something called maxi pads in it. M-A-X-I P-A-D-S. Put the quarters in the slots and turn the little knob. You got that?" She nods, taking the quarters as he stands up and she walks around the wall into the bathroom.
Leon's there for a solid minute when Cecilia comes back.
"What was I supposed to get, Daddy?" He takes a breath in, now knowing what his wife means when she says their youngest has his attention span now... He looks at her.
"Is there anyone in there besides your sister?" She shakes her head, he takes the quarters back with another deep breath. "Stay in the doorway where I can see you and yell for me if anyone comes towards the bathroom."
"Okay!" Leon rounds the corner, peeking in and looking around. Thank God no one's actually there...
Immediately he goes to the dispenser and buys the pad, seeing the only locked stall.
"Violet..." She perks up, hearing her father's voice.
"Dad? What-"
"Your sister was being herself. Here." He passes her the pad under the stall. "Remember what Mommy showed you?"
"Yeah... Thank you."
"No problem honey, I'll be outside. Take your time." He makes his way out, buying a few extra pads and a pack of Advil from the dispenser on the way out just in case.
He ushers Cecilia to the lobby, sitting on one of the benches as people walk by. As if everything is fine and he didn't just have to help his baby girl...
It finally hits him, she's growing up. Usually he'd have his wife to help him through these moments but she's off having fun right now. He looks at the floor, a lot of memories come flooding back. Her first words, her first steps, potty training even...
"Stop... It's fine. She has to grow up." He mumbles to himself. Cecilia pats his head, making him sit straight up. She tries climbing up on his knee, he hoists her up plopping her down with ease as he hugs her.
"When will I be a woman Daddy?" She asks, so innocently. Her cute little face gleaming up at him with a wide smile.
"Hopefully when your mother's around..."
