I don't know, it's silly, but I really love this story. I fell in love with the details and how everything cohered beyond my expectations, how the little details in worldbuilding made big things click and make sense even though they seemed typical fiction "too much but you have to suspend belief" things at first. And I actually honestly think most of the things some parts of fandom complain about are not only coherent, but some of the best more nuanced aspects of the writing. Everything that I thought and interpreted, even to the most minute details, was confirmed. Even, again, to the most minute details I loved but thought I was being stupid for paying so much attention to, because surely they couldn't mean as much as I thought they did. Yet they did.
#I truly love this storyâ and I've fallen in love with the characters and their dynamics#And it's frustrating that this is a gacha game that I didn't trust at all to begin with#but even less so now that the story is being so loudly criticised because it didn't turn out as people wanted#I already expected things to stop making sense with some time as it always happens with long serialised things made to sell#but I hate that now I fear it will happen soonerâ that they'll change things that will ruin the continuity or flatten the characters#All because people only read the two things very directly related to what interests them#and with preconditioned views on what they'll interpret#All the while criticising that one has to dig the story through fragmentsâ scrapsâ off-hand comments made by the NPCs and so on#And I understand not liking a story told this wayâ but that's the core of this story in particular and why it works#And it's done very well and very cleverly#It's frustrating to see people who have not approached the text as it ought to be criticise the story and characters for what it is not#and for not turning out to be what they thought it would when they didn't even think at all because it was all a bit a hive mind thing#And it's sad in many regards#I don't know. I think it's super neat that everythingâ from Ying.xing being able to craft weapons as well as delicate jade flasks#to Jingli.u moving in a much lighter way than Blade to name two examplesâ makes sense and is justified with the information of the text#in a way that works with and deepens the worldbuilding as well as the characterisation and throws light to what happened in the story#I can't even begin to tell the elation I've felt whenever I saw the little details I loved and gave weight toâ#all the while thinking I was giving them too much weightâ turned out to have the importance I had given them#and click with everything else perfectly making a way more complex machineryâ the sound of the gears more beautiful and harmonious#It makes me wish I could drink or kiss this story#I feel I have a string in my chest and the reverberations cause my blood to vibrate and the vibration is the echo of this story#I talk too much#I should probably delete this later

Hey, so, Patreon is lying to you about Apple forcing their hand.
Patreon is getting rid of 1st-of-the-month/per-creation billing, claiming a new decision by Apple has forced their hand. This will hurt a lot of creatives, and their excuse is bullshit. Allow me to explain.
In 2018, Patreon tried to impose a new ill-considered fee structure on everyone that would have cost creators a lot of smaller pledges. They ended up apologizing for this profusely; they have now deleted this apology from their website and unfortunately I was unable to find it on the Internet Archive. This was shameful, but to their credit they backed off quickly when things got ugly.
Back in 2021, Patreon discussed plans to force all creators into a rolling bill structure and get rid of first-of-the-month/pay-up-front billing. The community once again very decisively shouted them down, and they had to walk it back again. This whole fiasco damaged the already shaky trust between Patreon creators and staff.
This week, Patreon announced that, along with extra fees, Apple's policies were supposedly forcing them to move everyone over to the rolling fee structure that they first tried to get us to agree to in 2021. Patreon will tell you they are not happy about this. As a person who spent a long time watching Patreon make terrible decisions, I can tell you-- they are probably very happy about this, because it's exactly the smokescreen they needed to do what they've been trying to do for years, which is pull ALL Patreon creators away from 1st-of-the-month and per-creation billing.
The spin in the news I've seen so far is "Apple bullies Patreon, boo hoo hoo poor Patreon". This is very obviously not what's happening. Mind you: Apple does suck, and they are doing something bad here. Fuck apple. But Patreon and Apple are BOTH the asshole in this situation; Everyone Sucks Here. Patreon has options: they can make the iOS app a reader app and do billing through the browser to avoid the restrictions and the extra fees (Netflix and Amazon, notably, both do this), or they can allow creators to opt-out of iOS billing if they want to use billing models that don't work with it.
It seems most likely to me that the Apple situation is a real fire that Patreon has chosen to use as a convenient smokescreen to do what they've been wanting to do since at least 2021, and maybe since 2018.
What do we do?:
They have a feedback form specifically about this.
They also have a creator discord.
And they have lots of social media pages where they probably really, really hope that this doesn't blow up again, because they never learn. The incidents I've described here aren't the only two other times Patreon has pissed off their creators. They know if they don't contain the noise it'll be harder to get away with it, so make some noise. They've done a lot of work to spin this cleverly so you'll have sympathy for them and they won't get the kind of backlash they know they deserve.
Please don't misuse these links and make threats or spam or something. All you have to do is give well-reasoned feedback. Patreon hates feedback. Make sure they get a nice heaping helping of their least favorite vegetable.

Kinktober Day 17: Belly Bulge with Simon "Ghost" Riley
Pairing: Simon "Ghost" Riley X Fem!Reader Word Count: 2625 Warnings: Belly bulge (P visible from the outside), Reader and Simon both experience anxiety about sex at the beginning, Healthy communication, Vaginal fingering, P in V sex, Squirting, Protected sex (Wrap it before you tap it), So much Size Kink (Just, so much of it).
Kinktober 2024 Master(sub)list.
Minors DNI
8 months.
Thatâs how long youâve been dating Simon.
8 months and things were amazing between you. He made you feel safe and cared for, listened to you vent without rolling his eyes, no matter how petty it was, made you tea and given you his own clothes to wear after one date when you both had gotten caught in the rain, held you like you were made of glass.
That last one is both the best and the worst on that list.
Now, one might wonder, how that could possibly be? Who can be upset at a man like Simon Riley treating you like his Queen?
That wasnât the problem.
The problem was that he refuses to fuck you.
Sure, youâve done plenty together. He loves to use his fingers and mouth and seems to really like how you look with his dick in your hands, tongue lapping at the head.
But he refuses to take that dick and fuck you with it.
Well, not so much ârefuseâ as cleverly turns your attention away from it. Itâs always âLemme make you cum one more time with my fingers.â Then he makes you cum twice more and youâre too tired and jelly limbed to even think of taking his cock, if youâre even awake by the time youâre lying on his chest.
Now, you can understand why he might be hesitant, seeing as heâs a good foot taller than you, if not more, and about twice as wide. The man looms when he stands behind you, and not on purpose, well sometimes itâs on purpose.
And to top things off, he very proportional.
Long and thick. More so than any other guy youâd ever been with, a fact that youâd be lying if you said you hadnât fantasized about.
Heâs shown that heâs more than comfortable throwing you around and making sure you stay there. But has thus far made sure not to use the one tool at his disposal that you crave the most.
Youâd had the thought that maybe it was you. Maybe he wasnât as attracted to you as you thought?
That thought was quickly discarded when you recalled that he initiates the vast majority of the time, sometimes itâs before you get the chance to do it yourself.
Okay, so you knew what the problem was, why not talk to him about it?
Well, you have. Right now.
Youâre sitting in front of him on the couch wringing your hands with nerves. What if he still says no? What if you touch on some kind of trauma you didnât know about? What if he breaks up with you? Or thinks youâre too needy?
The swirling what-ifs cease when one of his massive hands hold both of yours. âLove? Whatâs the matter?â He asked, voice low and gentle, like he was talking to a spooked animal.
His blond brows furrowed in concern as you had a couple non-starts, inhaling like youâre going to speak and then staying silent.
You half expected him to try to coax it out of you, but instead he just tilted his head and kept eye contact with you, showing heâs ready to listen to anything you have to say.
With a deep inhale you forced your tongue to work. âWhy wonât you fuck me?â The words come out small for how vulgar they are, and you realize that you did not, in fact, fully dismiss the thought that it was you.
His eyes widened as your words registered and he blinked a couple times in shock. âWhat?â He asked, brows furrowing in either confusion or irritation, youâre not sure which, and it makes your heart jump up into your throat.
You pulled your hands from his, fully intending to stand up and run, as the words came flying out of your mouth. âActually, never mind. Forget I said anything. Itâs nothing.â The platitudes were a practiced rush as you looked anywhere that wasnât at his eyes, lest he see the tears trying to well there.
âWhoa, whoaâŠSlow down, Love.â He said, taking your hands in his to keep you seated. âI justâŠNeed you to run that by me again?â He said carefully, choosing his words.
Taking another deep breath, you looked down at where his hands held yours, so warm and gentle. âWhy wonât you fuck meâŠ?â You repeated, still sounding so small. âItâs just thatâŠWe do everything else, and I thought Iâd made it clear that I want to, but you justâŠDonâtâŠâ You felt ridiculous, like a needy brat asking for more when he already does so much.
Simon let out a slow breath as you spoke as understanding reached him, then his face did something weird. It was like he was cycling through concern and embarrassment at the same time.
âIâm sorry, Love. I should have talked to you about this a long time ago.â He said, voice seemingly settling on embarrassed.
Your own brows furrowed in confusion, but you waited for him to continue.
He cleared his throat and met your gaze. âI umâŠI was- am scared of hurting you.â He explained, brown eyes looking into your anxiously, like heâs worried youâll be upset at him.
âWhat? Simon, you would neverâŠâ You started but he interrupted you.
âNo, I meanâŠLove, Iâm bigger than you. A lot bigger. I could hurt you if we arenât careful, and I couldnât live with myself if that happened.â
His admittance gave you pause. He was really worried about that? Heâs very familiar with your body, and what it can take, so he should know that youâd be fine if he just did what he always does.
âSi, Iâll be fine. How many times have I begged for a third finger? And yours arenât exactly small.â You said with a lifted brow, trying to drive home how silly that fear was.
He breathed a chuckle and nodded. âFair point.â He conceded before shifting a bit, moving a little closer to you in his seat. âI would just hate to be the cause of your pain when I only ever want you to feel good.â
âHaving sex with you would make me feel good.â That pulled another chuckle from him. âI mean it though. Simon, you have done things with just your hands that have made me plenty wet and aroused enough to take you, Iâll be more than okay.â
Letting out a sigh that seemed to lift some weight off his shoulders, he nodded slowly. âYouâre right, Love. I should have said something a lot sooner, Iâm sorry I didnâtâ He said before bringing your hands to his lips to press them to your knuckles.
âItâs okay, I understand. I canât say I wasnât a little concerned too the first time I saw youâreâŠâLittle guyââ You joked, earning a halfhearted glare, which just got a cheeky grin in return.
âReally?â He started but you kept talking.
âI mean, that things a monster!â
âAlright.â
âA real two-hander!â
âListen you.â
âYou could swim away with that rudder!â
âThatâs it!â
And just like that you were over his shoulder, giggling like the fiend you are, as he carried you to the bedroom, laying a solid smack to your ass cheek and getting a squawk for his efforts.
Kicking the door open he dropped you on the bed before crawling over you, hips positioned perfectly between your legs. âAny other clever remarks?â He asked as his face hovered inches from yours.
âJust one.â He lifted a brow indulgingly. âIs it heavy? Cause I can help with that.â You giggle once more when he rolled his eyes, smile giving away his amusement.
âAlright, thatâs enough outta you.â He said before leaning in and claiming your lips with his.
All Simons kisses are careful, mindful of his greater strength, but theyâre no less passionate or perfect.
He always seems to know exactly when to tilt his head, or draw your lips between his teeth, or when the escalation of tongues was right.
And you were happy to go along for the ride.
Simon, ever the attentive lover, took his sweet time stripping you of your clothes, leaving kisses and little purple marks here and there as he went, till he had you nude and panting beneath him.
He sat up to start in on his own clothes, but you followed and pushed his hands away, intent on doing it yourself, just to have more of an excuse to touch him.
With each piece of clothing cast away and each new expanse of skin revealed, you marveled at him. No one could describe him as being all hard lines. Muscular? Yes, absolutely. His military work requires it.
But real muscle meant to work and heave and lift, has fat right along with it, which meant there was a soft layer over his entire body that made you drool.
His skin was littered with marks and scars, some a lifetime old, others only a few years. Each one part of the man you were sure you loved.
From this angle, him up on his knees above you, and you sat on the mattress below him, the furthest you could reach with your hands was his chest. Your lips however could only reach his tummy, where his trimmed happy trail waited for you like a golden road.
And at the end, already hard and standing at attention, was the very thing youâd been craving this whole time.
Part of you was tempted to try to convince Simon to just skip the rest of the foreplay and get right to it, youâd waited long enough after all, but a small wise part of your brain pointed out that youâd both *just* established that that was a bad idea.
You reached out to wrap your fingers around him, but he stopped you with a warm hand around yours. âDonât worry about me, Love. Iâm more than fine.â He said before descending back over you, pressing you into the covers with his body.
It was like laying on a cloud covered with the biggest, warmest, heaviest weighted blanket ever.
His lips returned to yours, now all tongues and teeth as he nipped and bit at your lips, his hands drifting up and down your body, squeezing your hips, massaging your breasts, pinching at your sensitive nipples.
The whole time, all you could do was hold onto him, fingers caressing wherever they could reach.
Eventually he deemed it a good idea to move things along, and one of those roaming hands found its way between your bodies, then between your thighs.
Calloused fingertips slid up and down between your pussy lips, gathering your slick before circling your clit, earning Simon a moaning gasp as you clutched onto him.
He hummed in satisfaction as his thumb took over rubbing against the little bud, while the rest of his fingers continued to run up and down the length of your cunt, soft wet noises seemed loud in the room with only your breathing to accompany them.
This very quickly became not enough for you, and you couldnât resist the urge to wiggle your hips against him, trying to get even the tip of one finger to breach your weeping hole.
Simon, of course, noticed right away, and rather than tease you, he gave you exactly what you wanted.
Pressing one to start, giving it a curl into that spot he knew was right there waiting, and when you gasped and arched into him, he grinned like the cat that got the canary as he added a second finger to his sweet torment.
You lost track of time as he worked you up, getting you to the bleeding edge before stopping, giving you a âGotta make sure youâre good and readyâŠâ When youâd given him a look after the first denial.
He did this three times.
By the time he deemed you âreadyâ you were a shaking whining mess, almost to the point where youâd accept anything, even if it wasnât his dick.
But then he moved away. âFucking Hell, LoveâŠâ He groaned as he pulled his fingers from your body. âCanât take any more.â He said before reaching for the bedside table, the sound of a wrapper ripping followed by a moment of almost-silence went by in a hazy horny blur.
Then he was back, body caging you in as he kissed you deep and slow. âYou doing alright?â He asked against your lips, his dry fingers caressing your cheek softly.
âIâm greatâŠâ You answered before giving him a peck. âBe better when you fuck meâŠâ You said, voice low and slow and heavy with your arousal.
He chuckled and hung his head like he couldnât believe you were his. Then he looked back at you with an almost feral look. âYes, Maâam.â
After that he sat up, just enough to see what he was doing, but it allowed your arms a little more freedom, and one hand unconsciously came to rest on your belly.
Simon went slow, pressing into you little by little, inch by inch, letting you get used to the depth and the stretch of it till he was fully seated.
But when that happened, you were a little too distracted to notice any discomfort, not when you could feel his cock with your *hand*.
Lifting your head to look down you found you could *see* it too. âOh my GodâŠâ You moaned at this revelation, head falling back onto the bed.
âBloody fucking HellâŠâ Simon grunted as he looked down at you, all splayed out for him like a feast, pussy so wet his dick was drowning, face and body flushed and waiting, looking up at him like he hung the moon and stars.
And his fucking cock visible through your fucking body. Jesus fuck.
You could say he started slow and gentle, but that would be a lie.
Simon set a pace that was indeed slow, but each thrust was hard and had him brushing against every sensitive spot that you knew of, and even some you didnât.
Between the stretch, the glorious full feeling, and the way his pubis rubbed against your clit on every thrust, it was a wonder you didnât cum quicker.
Your body spasmed as you clenched down on Simonâs cock, wave after wave of blinding pleasure washing over you, the whole time he didnât stop moving.
âChristâŠâ He groaned. âFeel amazing, LoveâŠCould get drunk on this cuntâŠâ His grip on your hips was bruising as he chased his high, and subsequently sent you on the path to your second.
Leaning down over you, pressing your bodies front to front, he kisses you rather sweetly, given the absolute mess he was making of you.
The way he was positioned meant two things.
One, he was closer, which was always a plus.
And two, the press of his body against your belly, meant he was pressing hard against your G-spot from both the inside and outside, catapulting you toward your second orgasm.
This one welled up tighter than the first, a much hotter knot forming, and it caught you off guard, but you couldnât find it on yourself to care.
âAhh, thatâs it, LoveâŠCum for me againâŠCâmonâŠâ Simon coaxed as his own end crept up on him.
When you reached the peak, your vision went white and a cry that might have been Simonâs name or it could have just been gibberish left your lips, and a wash of something very wet flooded between you and Simon as he came hard, a hot feeling contained in a prison of latex.
You both lay there panting, feeling the closeness of the other as you came down before you let out a breathless chuckle.
âTotally worth the waitâŠâ

the angsty prequel to this (ik there's plotholes now but shh I'll fix it in a bit) that i accidentally made after getting possessed and writing for 3 hours straight for what was supposed to be a short hc post jfc. angst ahead (brain damage talk, temporary mcd), but there's a happy ending!
-
zeus saying he's going to make athena's "kingdom fall" doesn't make sense unless you consider. the lightning bolt she takes to the face gives her brain damage.
no one notices at first. Athena brushes it all off, goes to odysseus, oversees their long-awaited reunion. stays in their house after- because it's not like they'll be around forever, after all. and she can do her work just as well from down here- there's no need, to be honest, to go back to Mount Olympus. anyone who needs her comes to Ithaka, and she's content, for the first time in a very, very long time.
and then one day odysseus comes across her seizing on the floor.
she doesn't know the details of what happened- only remembers the first terrified scream of horror, remembers warm hands on her face and being carried to a bed, remembers Penelope's voice shaking as she drags a wet cloth across her forehead. comes to confused and mute minutes later, wandering around and stumbling into walls, unresponsive to the voices begging her to stop, to rest.
finally, she reaches a familiar room with a familiar face, and she touches Telemachus on the cheek lightly before collapsing onto the nearest chair. panicked voices chatter above her and calloused palms lift her face up to meet her own grey eyes, worried and scared, and it finally dawns on her that something has gone terribly wrong.
(later she will find out odysseus held her and sobbed the whole night, knowing more than anyone else what had happened to her and what it meant; he'd taken the throne at thirteen for the same reason, after all)
(later she will find out that penelope wrote to every ally they had within the hour for healers and literature; letting more than half their cleverly planned schemes fall through in exchange for it as she begged)
(later, she will find out that telemachus went running barefoot through the market, banging on doors and shouting for the healers and making the alarmed roused villagers sing prayers for her even though it was the middle of the night)
she recovers under the attention; court abandoned in favour of emergency, odysseus proclaims when he bullies her into placing her head in his lap so he can massage her aching head, not having left her side for six straight days in a row. penelope comes in every few hours, feeding her the olives from the wedding bed she lies in, unable to move, and brushes out her hair. telemachus barely shows during the days, but he comes in every evening without fail, curling up by her side and hugging her tight.
but it happens again. and again and again, and each time she regains consciousness in one of the royal family's arms, no matter where she was at the time. she never remembers it, only has the disgusting taste in her mouth and dried spit on her chin and tears in the eyes of those around her to know it happened.
she loses time as well- has no idea how long it's been happening until she becomes aware of the sound of Odysseus' calm, steady voice dragging her out of a trance, gentle fingers tracing her palm as they stand next to an unassuming tapestry. she'll be walking one moment and be lost to everything around her the next, staring at nothing.
Odysseus has done this all before, she realises one day, when he seamlessly pulls her out of another relapse and ropes her into a cheerful, easy conversation about goats that Athena keeps having stilted replies to.
"Do you know how to do this because-" She murmurs, and his eyes go wide and then grieving.
"Yes," He murmurs sadly, and Athena feels guilt settle in her belly at making him go through this again. He massages at her temples, and she closes her eyes, listening to the smile in his voice. "But there is no hardship, Pallas Athena. The sadness is that you have to go through this, not for the taking care of a cherished one."
"And anyways, Laertes suffered madness in the wake of a terrible fever and the stress of a famine," Penelope says without looking up from the newest scrolls they'd received. Athena feels the guilt worsen at the sleep bags under her eyes, when she knew the reason and just didn't have the courage to- "Your sudden collapses could be due to this one witch curse we found, or perhaps a-"
"It was Zeus."
The room falls silent as two heads slowly turn to look at her.
"What?" Odysseus says quietly, with barely withheld rage.
Athena takes a shuddering breath. "I am sorry, my Penelope, that I didn't have the courage to tell you before." Penelope leaves the desk to cross the room to her, and Athena feels tears prick at her eyes as the queen takes her hand. "But when I petitioned the court of Olympus, Zeus did not take kindly to everyone agreeing to me over him- and such was his punishment. To make-"
Her breath hitches in a sob and she notes with surprise that she's crying. Penelope and Odysseus are both crying with her, staring down in horror.
"To make my kingdom fall, he said," Athena whispers, shoulders jerking oddly as she forces it out, acknowledges what he'd done. "But my kingdom is the mind and-"
Odysseus lets out an animal cry of sorrow and descends on her, pulling her to his chest as she breaks down into shivering tears, the fear running through her as she realises the scale, the enormity of the consequences. Penelope stands by the bed and trembles with anger for a full minute, before she crumples too, crawling into their bed and pressing Athena tight between them.
"I forget things," She confesses in a whisper, shaking. "I blank out during fights, cannot recall certain strategies- I- I do not know how much worse-"
"Easy, darling, easy," Penelope whispers in a rush, stroking her face. Odysseus really is so lucky to have her as a wife, she thinks disjointedly, pressing into the gentleness. "Don't say that. It won't get worse."
"And even if it does," Odysseus continues, pressing a kiss to her cheek, where the lichtenberg scars cross her right eye, to her brow. "We will write down everything you know, copy it a hundred times and keep it safe. So you will never forget."
"And we will find you a Lytrakas owl, to keep you safe when we are no longer here to do it," Penelope murmurs, lips brushing Athena's neck as she speaks. She relaxes finally under the combined reassurances, at the solutions and possibilities that would work, finding a content she has never achieved before in their embrace. "We will keep you safe, our goddess."
And they do. When she teaches the children of Ithaka sparring, at least one of them is there, ready to intervene smoothly if they sense something wrong. They make the books they promised her, and she sends it to her realm, so she doesn't lose them. They cannot come with her when she has to travel- she wouldn't ask it of any of them- but Telemachus is always humming a hymn when she's away so she remembers where to return. When she dissociates in the middle of talking, Penelope guides her over to the loom so she can weave until she feels better, muscle memory kicking in enough for it to help the gradual lift of the fog.
Odysseus always somehow knows when she's about to have a seizure, in the forty years after that they spend together. In all her time in Ithaka, she never woke up from one without the familiar gravely cadence of Odysseus singing under his breath above her, head in his lap and Telemachus perched on her thighs or Penelope by her shoulders.
-
But it can't last forever.
Odysseus kicks her out of the room when he dies, Penelope's breath already slowing on the bed behind him, peaceful in the way that means she won't survive the night. They all know Odysseus will go with her, and Athena feels herself tremble as Odysseus gently guides her outside.
"You are not watching us pass," He tells her firmly, as she opens her mouth to scream at him. He's an old man now, but his eyes are the same, and the different versions of him flash in front of her eyes as he gives her a crooked smile. "I will not have you watch, are you crazy?"
"Odysseus," She chokes out, gripping tight onto her spear.
"My beautiful, wonderful goddess," Odysseus murmurs adoringly, leaning up to press their foreheads together. She sobs. "Thank you. For everything. And know-" His breath hitches. "-know that, for the rest of your existence, remember it- that you were loved."
"How can I ever forget?" She smiles back through the tears. "I will never be the same."
"My Athene," He whispers, swaying them back and forth. She closes her eyes, trembling, and pulls him into their last embrace, last touch.
"You will always be my favourite," She confesses, half-laugh, half-sob.
Odysseus smirks at that, a trace of smugness, then turns to a sobbing, chuckling Telemachus, who's also been kicked out, pulls them both in a hug. "We will meet again, my son," he murmurs. "But Penelope is waiting for me now. Goodnight."
He closes the door, two bright last flashes of smiles aimed at them as it shuts and Athena and Telemachus both fall to pieces.
Telemachus takes twice the care of her than his parents did, somehow juggling ruling the kingdom and spending as much time as he can with her as he can. His wife is sly and mischievous, more fox than owl- but Athena loves her too, just as she loves their children. Telemachus goes with a smile on his face and an arrow in his heart, having taken an arrow for someone else, holding Athena's hand as he laughs for the last time.
It is horrible and she wanders around desolately for days, grieving. But then she sees bright eyes spying on her from behind a bush, carefully watching her to see if she's alright and Athena smiles and goes back to continue the legacy.
-
For 500 years, Ithaka does not fall- when it does, she makes sure the grey-eyed children all make it off the island, scattering on the mainland as at last, her job is done.
Which means there is nothing left for her here, and it is time to go back to Mount Olympus.
She's met with teasing quips and pointed comments, but general ignorance, no one bothering to ask where she was. After almost six hundred years of care, it feels untethering and strange, but the grief of losing Ithaka makes her relieved for it, even if she has to lie down sometimes, press her face into the roots of the olive tree scattered about in her realm and pretend there are three sets of hands in her hair, a familiar voice humming above her.
How did you do it, she wants to ask Penelope. How did you survive knowing what you were missing, she wants to ask Odysseus. Will you sit with me one last time, she wants to ask Telemachus.
Eventually, she can no longer bear the quiet, and one evening she sets out and crosses the pantheon floor to go gently sit down in Apollo's room.
Artemis is there, slouched on the floor with mud in her hair and an arrow in her eye as Apollo chides her. They both look up when she comes in, bowing and worriedly asking if something was wrong.
"Nothing," she says, ignoring the pang of sadness that that would be the only reason she was here. But the idea of leaving back to the books written in Odysseus' horrible chickenscratch penmanship is worse, and she takes a tentative seat in the corner. "Continue your work."
They do so hesitantly, conversation slower and interspersed with bouts of asking her if she wanted ambrosia or a new dish or something while she was here. She declines.
She feels awkwardness radiating off all three of them as she leaves an hour later, but it doesn't stop her from coming back again, stubborn. She will hold a conversation this time- it has been two decades since Ithaka, but that is nothing to her, and she cannot have forgotten how so soon.
Apollo seems to have prepared for the same thing this time, lighting up with a pleased grin like he wasn't sure she would come. "Enter!" He says cheerfully. "Come here, give me your wisdom on this piece I've been composing- I know, I know, owls are not songbirds, but just see if you can help, it's driving me mad-"
Athena closes her mouth and listens to the melody quietly. Thinks about how Telemachus' third daughter would have spun it, added her Ithakan folk style to it, interspersed the perfection with carefree, imperfect beats.
"May I?" She asks, holding her hands out, and Apollo's mouth drops, even as he scrambles to hand her the lyre. She concentrates, trying to pull the melody out from the strings. "Here," she says, manifesting her spear and shield and handing it to an increasingly wild-eyed Apollo. "Bang them together. Create a tempo."
They create something of a passing song in the next few hours until Athena's headache makes its way to the forefront and she has to retreat. Apollo accompanies her across the floor to her room, pressing herbs onto her even as he chatters a mile a minute, excitedly going on and on about new ideas and begging Athena to come by again. She smiles, briefly, and promises to return when she is free, going back to her pallet under the olive trees.
(She cannot bear to sleep anywhere else.)
The next day, Apollo is busy creating new songs and she knows better than to disturb him. She turns and goes to his twin's realm instead, shedding her armour for bark and a bow. Artemis and her women look as equally terrified as Apollo did at the start, looking at her like she's lost her mind, but they all straighten up when Athena raises an eyebrow and silently descend on the night.
"You must teach me!" Artemis enthuses at the end of it. She does not do anything other than scowl often, but she looks more like her twin than ever now, as she beams up at her. "I never knew there were so many strategies, how much smoother-"
"Peace," Athena chuckles, amused. "I will teach you, sister. Next fortnight?"
"Aye," Artemis says, hair matted and covered in filth, eyes sparkling.
"Here," Athena says, taking out her own ribbon- one of the many she has from Penelope, braided in her hair from all those years ago- and turns Artemis around to tie her mess of a mane out of her eyes. "Do not impede your vision in the name of wildness."
"Okay," Artemis squeaks quietly, and Athena snorts and squeezes her shoulder as she departs.
She sits in Aephastus' forge next, watching him create weapon after weapon, with the best of each round being blessed onto a blacksmith in the mortal world.
"Come to see if my work is up to par, Pallas Athena?" Aephastus says self-deprecatingly, a flash of resigned hurt in his eyes.
"No. I wish to learn," Athena decides suddenly, pushing herself up and removing her helmet at the blast of heat that comes from the forge as she nears. "It is shameful, I think, that I know not how my own tools are made."
Aephastus stares at her with surprise, then his kind eyes crinkle into a smile. "Only if you let me replace that," He nods to her admittedly rather dented helmet. "I have been wanting to fix your armour to something respectable for centuries."
Athena laughs.
Of course, once it is done, she has to use it. It fills her with excitement she had almost forgotten, the idea of a good, difficult spar, and she barges into Aphrodite's realm and bangs on the edge of the bed with her new spear, making the occupants screech and jump in fright.
"Good evening," She nods at Aphrodite, who looks to the side and then back at her as if she'll find an explanation somehow, stunned. She turns to her brother, and tries on a grin. "Ares, my brother. Would you care to spar? Aephastus has gifted me this new set and I find myself eager to test it out."
"...Are you fucking possessed?" Ares asks her, flabbergasted, and she clicks her tongue and smacks him upside the head.
"Yes or no?" She says, crossing her hands.
"Y- yes, yes!" Ares blurts out, straightening up. He looks something approaching disbelieving excitement, a small, tentative grin appearing on his face. "You are... not joking, right?"
"Do I look like I joke?" Athena jokes, smiling. Ruffles his hair in a bout of fondness. "You are the only one who will actually give me a good fight, as erratic as you are. I look forward to it."
"What did I FUCKING MISS?" Aphrodite shrieks after her as she goes. "Wha- Athena, get back here, you better have not fallen in love while I wasn't looking-!"
But Athena's not ready to face Aphrodite just yet, so she takes advantage of their height difference and strides back to her realm as her sister chases her, shouting.
The next day, they meet in the arena, and Athena feels herself freeze up as soon as she steps in. Sees the lightning scorch marks on the ground she had almost forgotten, and cannot move.
"ATHENA!" Ares booms, snapping her out of it. "TODAY YOU WILL MEET YOUR DEFEAT AT MY HANDS AT LAST!"
"WHY ARE YOU SO ANNOYING," She shouts back automatically, and Ares bursts out in a peal of laughter, surprised out of him. She knows he has three aspects- the boyish glory-seeker, the soldier filled with bloodlust, the hardened warrior- but Athena thinks the first one suits him best.
He readjusts his grip on his sword and grins. "Begin!"
-
She continues this, finding a strange happiness she never had before in meeting all the other gods, major and minor. She'd never known how intimidated they all were by her, but they open up readily enough, bringing her peace for a little while as she sits with them.
(She avoids Aphrodite, who is getting increasingly more frazzled by the day as she fails to find a hidden lover that does not exist and then switches to trying to find Athena a companion when it is clear that there is no one, in a comic game of chase around the realms that is a great source of amusement to everyone else.
She avoids Hermes too, because it hurts too much to see him. But she leaves him a book of riddles once in a while, when he's away, and he always takes it.)
Hera walks in her room one day, with her train of peacocks and attendants.
"God-Queen," Athena bows, setting her weaving down.
"Athena," Hera nods back. "I hear you have been visiting your siblings."
Athena nods, confused. "Yes?"
Hera studies her and Athena shifts, wondering what she's seeing. "The Pantheon is no longer silent, you know. The Olympians meet in the court almost every day, sharing their gifts with each other. Something I have found out is because of you."
Athena has no idea where this is going.
Hera shifts closer, opening her mouth to say something, then her eyes catch on the weaving, widening in shock. "What is that?"
Athena looks down, also unaware of what exactly she'd made. Then her heart skips a beat in fear.
"No, no, no, no," Athena snaps to her feet, shaking her hands out in dismissal, trying to stop the impending damage. "This is not what you think it is."
Hera's eyes are getting wider and wider, a manic grin on her face. "Athena! A wedding veil? Do you-"
"No!" Athena interrupts. "No, Hera, it's nothing like that, please-"
"Nonsense!" Hera says, grabbing it from her and holding it to the light, grinning wider than Athena has seen from her in years. "You must have made it for a reason. Do not worry daughter, I know you are shy, I will handle it all."
"Hera, it really is not like that!" She pleads. "I was simply weaving- I made a fisherman's garb the other day as well, it does not mean I want to get out into the sea!"
"Have you made the rest of the outfit as well?" Hera says excitedly, ignoring her as she moves to the wardrobe to rifle through. "Oh, Athena, how beautiful! Is this what you would like to wear?"
She pulls out a men's wedding outfit and Athena stops protesting to stare in disbelief. When had she made that?
"I must go announce this to the others," Hera squeals, bangles jangling. "Oh, I had almost given up on you, dear, but you have made me so happy today! I would have arranged something for you so long ago, why didn't you tell me you were interested?"
"Because I am not," She groans, pulling her hands down over her face. "Hera, please, I do not even have anyone-"
"Easily remedied," Hera dismisses her with the wave of a hand as she strides off. "Oh Aphrodite, you won't believe what I just found in your sister's closet! Look!"
A deafening din rises from the crowd there and Athena is forced to tackle Hera to the ground.
She laughs, surprisingly, and tosses the outfit over to Aphrodite, who snatches it up with a scream of excitement. Athena is immediately flanked by a crowd of screaming gods, each talking over the other, and Athena has to bellow at them all for two hours before the misunderstanding is cleared.
"Oh, but you really have outdone yourself with this one," Aphrodite gushes appreciatively as she lands next to a panting Athena. She turns it back and forth. "So soft, and such patterns! The Ithakan style, yes?"
Then her smile drops like a stone as she hears her own words and freezes, and Athena's stomach swoops, heart skipping a beat as she stops breathing. Aphrodite turns to her slowly, cold horror in her eyes, realisation solidifying at the terrified, raw, pained expression on Athena's face.
"The Ithakan style," She repeats in a whisper, horrified grief creeping into her voice. "Athena-"
Athena snatches the outfit from her and closes herself off in her realm, breathing hard in the dim blue light of the olive tree orchard. She suddenly realises she's holding the robes against her chest and unfolds it hurriedly to look at them.
It is the Ithakan style. It is, in fact, a mix of Penelope's and Odysseus' wedding outfits, in her size.
She throws it into a trunk and screams.
-
She does not know if Aphrodite tells Hera, but the latter does not stop coming by every day to pester her for details of an imaginary wedding.
So now she has three gods to avoid.
-
But of course, the effects of her affliction cannot be hidden forever. She gets up one day from the Pantheon floor to retrieve the threads from her room to be used in the game they are playing, and feels the room swim in a familiar, hated manner, and she only has a moment to feel dread before she tilts sideways and falls.
When she regains consciousness, she feels for a moment the delicate hands on her cheeks, the weight of a young man on her belly, the gravely singing above her- and then it dissipates and she becomes aware of shouting all around her.
"Can you hear me? Athena, can you hear me?" Hera says, shaking her. "WILL SOMEONE FIND APOLLO?"
Athena moans and pushes off the hands on her body, bruising in their panic. She pushes herself up, ignoring the dizziness. "Do not bother."
"Athena, what on Gaia was that?" Ares demands, ashen. "Have I injured you? What-"
"It is of no concern," Athena snaps, getting to her feet and glaring at them, mortification blazing through her. "All I need is rest. Goodnight."
They shout after her, but she's already at her room, closing the shields back up. It nearly knocks her out again to do so, and she barely drags herself to her bed before she collapses.
"What are you staring at?" Hypnos asks her the next day, confused. Athena blinks and realizes she's standing between the thrones, facing an odd patch of wall and losing time.
"Nothing," She sighs, and hefts her spear and walks away.
She fends off all other questions, curt and snapping, and the others uneasily let it go. She has not forgotten her purpose, after all, and will not do anything less than a perfect job, even with this impediment.
Yet-
"Athena," Aphrodite shakes her, and Athena blinks as she comes to herself. It is night, Pantheon bathed in blue and both of them in their nightclothes. Aphrodite is crying and Athena's face is wet.
"What-?" She murmurs.
"You were calling out for Odysseus," Aphrodite whispers, sounding stricken. "Asking him to stop hiding from training. Then laughing with nothing and telling Penelope to stop tormenting your allies."
It hits her straight in the sternum, making her gasp with grief that hits her so hard it feels new, and oh, she misses them, she misses them, she misses them so.
She sobs, and Aphrodite brings her close, holding her as she shakes.
"What is happening, sister? Why is this happening? Please, tell us," Aphrodite pleads. "We only want to help." She pushes her back to stare at her. "It cannot be just for them- something else happened to you."
Athena cannot reply for weeping, and Aphrodite's face crumples on seeing her tears. "You loved them." She says, her own voice catching tears. "You loved them so much, didn't you? That's who the dress was for. Them."
Athena sobs louder and doesn't reply.
-
Zeus' eldest daughter has not talked to him for over eight hundred years.
He still burns with anger some days, on remembering her insolence, her disrespect for his orders. Yet, now it has cooled off and he rather misses her quiet presence, her wit. She is angry with him in turn, cold and formal when they talk, never meeting his eyes.
"How fares Athena?" He asks casually one day. Hera stops removing her earrings and looks up at him sharply- she's been frosty with him since that day as well, disapproving of his actions. "I have not seen her in quite some time."
"That is of your own design," Hera replies blandly. "She spends time often with her siblings now. I am quite proud of her for it, actually- it is no mean a feat to get the entire Pantheon to sit down and indulge in few games without bloodshed."
"Games?" Zeus frowns. "With the others? Why is this the first I'm hearing of it?"
"Well, if you left your realm ever, you would know." Hera says distractedly, shrugging as she takes off her necklace. "They gather in the courtroom, usually."
The wind blows in, blows out.
Zeus ponders on this in silence, thinking of what to do next. Perhaps he should extend the first hand, since she had followed all the rules. He remembers her on the ground, beaten and burning, one hand extended to beg him to let that insolent hero she had pinned all her hopes on leave Ogygia. Frowns again in discomfort at the memory.
Her gamble paid off. Even as the Greek Pantheon declined in power, the story of her hero persisted to give the gods power, to keep them remembered.
Wise Athena, he thinks fondly. Smarter than him, he can admit now.
Zeus is just about to ask Hera if Athena would appreciate a spar when the rustle of fabric past the door of their realm catches his attention.
"Who is there?" He calls out, and Hera turns as well to look. No one enters and they both look to each other with a frown.
Quick footsteps sound out and both of them push themselves to their feet immediately, armed and tense as they rush to the door.
"Athena?" Hera calls out, confused, as they look down over the empty courtroom, Athena pacing erratically silently alone in the middle, no lights on. She does not reply. "Athena!"
Zeus feels foreboding creep up on him as they carefully walk down. "What are you doing up, Athena?" He calls out, voice authoritative. Hera glares at him, and he amends his tone, gentling it. "Is something the matter?"
Athena does not stop walking, at that same hurried pace, turning around at the end of the hall and continuing back towards them, ignoring his words. Zeus feels irritation spark, but the sudden glimpse of his daughter's eyes makes the words die on his tongue, unseeing and glazed over. She does not have her armour on, and her hair is tangled and open, he suddenly realises, along with the growing certainty that something is wrong.
And then Athena drops to the ground and starts seizing.
"ATHENA!" They scream as one, and all the gods of the Pantheon come awake, lamps catching fire as they all come stumbling out of their rooms and realms. Zeus reaches out and holds her hands down as she starts clawing at herself, drawing blood. The others start shouting and crying around them, Athena's head snapping back and forth gruesomely, eyes bleeding ichor. "Athena, gather yourself!" He shouts at her. "Cease this- cease this at once, you are stronger than this!"
"She cannot hear you!" Hera cries, falling to her other side, trying to straighten Athena out from the fetal position she is curling into with painful, stuff jerks. "She never does- she doesn't-"
"This has happened before?" Zeus bellows, outraged. His answer comes in the form of Ares pulling her weapons off her body, the ones who can't help holding onto each other and hiding their faces in each other's shoulders or staring at Athena with fear as they sob.
Her arm slips Zeus' grip and swings at him erratically before he can grab it again. It nearly knocks him down, so powerful in its animal madness that he actually feels his aspect waver to half its size for a moment- but he is her father and he pulls himself together enough to stay standing, pinning her down again.
"No, let her go!" Apollo shouts as he sits down besides them in his night robes, flipping through an old book of some kind, barely holding in his own panic and fear. "Don't hold her down, give her space."
Zeus grimaces but lets her go, feeling nausea and fear rise within him as she writhes and twists, unhearing of Hera's desperate sobs for her to stop. "What is happening to her?" He demands, unable to watch. He is furious, lightning blazing in his hands as he itches to find the culprit, to find who dared to do this. "Who did this to her?"
"I do not know," Apollo says horrifically, lips pressed thin, eyes flicking up to her and then back down to the book. "But I found this in her realm- she apparently is aware of it, this is some sort of book of instructions on the affliction-"
"Give me that," Zeus growls, snatching it away, and flipping through it. "Go get a bed," He instructs, the other Olympians springing up to do so immediately, desperate to help. "Olive- olive branches, she wakes to branches. Get water- no, get ambrosia, get a cloth to wipe her face. A change of clothes. A cold compress, if she has fever. It will stop on its own, let it run its course- Muses, what is this?"
"A lullaby," Euterpe says, pulling the book down to scan it. "From old Ithaka, if I'm not mistaken."
The gods all stop and stare at her. "Ithaka?" Zeus repeats, flipping to the front of the book. "Who has written this-"
"PENELOPE!" Athena screams suddenly, making them all jump in fright. Her back arches to a painful degree, spit running down the side of her mouth as her eyes roll back in her head. "PENELOPE, TELEMACHUS-"
Aphrodite puts her hands over her ears and squeezes her eyes shut, just as Athena takes a deep breath in and screams louder than before, "ODYSSEUS!"
(In life, he had only failed her once. But now he is dead, and cannot come.)
"Odysseus, please," She moans, in the old Greek that has not been used in decades. "You promised to help, please- Penelope, where are- where is- Telemachus, please-"
Zeus feels his heart break as proud, strong Athena breaks down on the floor, calling for mortals clearly much dearer to her than they thought. But it's not the end of it- he flips through the book again, desperately searching for something to stop this, a cause, an enemy- and then he sees his own name.
Curse proud Zeus, may his life never be happy, may his legacy forever be tainted, Odysseus has written, the letters harsh and burning with fury, even though the curse means nothing from a mortal, even though he risked the ire of the gods writing it. Below it, in what must be Penelope's neat handwriting, an equally furious and clipped diagnosis is penned- brain damage, extensive but occasional, caused by a lightning bolt to the face, that targeted her realm's power and left her with seizures, memory loss and dissociation.
A lightning bolt to the face.
Zeus stands there numbly, as the Pantheon scrambles and chatters worriedly around him, hesitantly singing along to the lullaby in the book as Athena continues to shake, unresponsive. His fault. It is his fault that she is like this, that she is left reduced to calling for dead mortals, crying blood over her siblings' feet.
He did not mean to, he thinks, feeling small and pathetic and monstrous. He did not mean for this to happen- only wanted to teach her a lesson, keep his pride; had not meant for her realm to sustain damage for so long. He thought she'd healed. He thought she hadn't been hurt, past the scar on her face that he'd felt vaguely guilty about, from time to time.
How stupid he was.
"Athena," He whispers, aching to reach out, but she screams again and it's drowned out completely. His daughter. All his own, no longer his- because she was never angry at all, these past years; she simply no longer saw him as her father. And why should she, when he has done the unforgivable, when he has done what no other had managed to do, and broken her.
What has he done?
"We are here," Hera says desperately, taking Athena's head in her lap. Ares sings creakily next to her, offtune and shaking. "We are here, love."
"Odysseus," Athena wails, unseeing. "Penelope, Telemachus."
Zeus steps back to let the others rush in, each providing their own solutions, some calling to Athena entreatingly to guide her back to herself. He is not needed here- he does not deserve it, and knows not what more damage he will wreak.
I am sorry, he wants to tell her, as froth escapes her mouth like a rabid dog. I am so sorry, I beg forgiveness, my daughter, please let me fix it.
But she cannot hear him and Zeus raises his head to look for Hermes instead. The messenger god is standing at the very back, well out of view, with a blank face as he meets Zeus' gaze. He feels a surge of fury at the lack of caring, before he remembers that Athena's hero and his son were descendants of Hermes- and sees past the facade to see the other's gods multiplied distress at that fact, unable to come forward to help without possibly making it worse with the likeness.
Zeus inclines his head and then tilts it towards Hades pointedly. Hermes twitches in surprise, then nods determinedly, running off.
Zeus exhales and looks back at Athena as she finally calms, breathing hard. Shoulders slump in relief, frightened muttering taking its place- this wasn't supposed to happen to gods, to Olympians.
Zeus steps forward and brushes her hair out of her eyes as Athena loses consciousness, as they pull her onto a makeshift palanquin and prepare to take her to her room.
"I am sorry," He whispers to her, but it is far, far too late.

I recently ran an oneshot for my friends in Eureka.
It was a lot of fun and went mostly smoothly! The charakter creation was very easy. It still took more time than I expected, but that was simply because the players needed it to decide on which traits etc. to pick.
The central resolution mechanic with 2d6 is of course tried and true (I assume. Never played one of the many other 2d6 games.) but especially the Eureka system felt really good.
I think I read in a recent post of your's, that you are overhauling the chapter on combat. That seems very important to me. Even though I read the whole book once before running the game, I had immense problems finding out how small details of the combat worked during play. The musings on game design (eg, "yes, the combat is deadly, thats on purpose heres why" and such) where really enlightening to read, but got in the way when searching for concrete stats.
I will run the same oneshot again for different friends. The game seems really promising to me.
My mystery took place on a single in game evening, and none of the players were monsters. Having therefore only scratched at the surface of Eureka, I am looking forward to running it more.
Woo! We LOVE hearing about this kinda stuff!
And yeah everything about how the combat-related rules are structured is getting overhauled. All of that was written like 2 years ago when I was a slightly worse game designer and MUCH worse at writing coherent paragraphs and hasnât been touched since until now. Instead of being split across like four paragraphs (what was I thinking), there will be just two chapters on it: âInstruments of Violenceâ, which is mostly just a giant list of references for the stats and special rules of weapons and armor, and âDangerous Situationsâ, which covers every rule related to how your investigators can get killed. Some of these clean-ups are already available in the latest patreon release, and the rest are coming soon to both patreon and the itchio beta.
Combat is a very rare thing in Eureka, but when it does come up, we want it to be tight and granular, but without wasting the playersâ time, which I think weâve done pretty well at.
Like the book says, combat is deadly and thereâs a reason why: so it doesnât waste the playersâ time.
This is a twofold problem to solve. The first layer of it, we solved by making sure the numbers are low. Most weapons can take a character down in 2 to 3 hits, so a single instance of two guys smacking each other will never take too many rounds.
Secondly, well, combat is dangerous and deadly, and if the PCs approach it without a plan, theyâre gonna die, or at least get their asses kicked fast. Otherwise, well, I consider that a waste of the playersâ time. If it was predetermined that the PCs would win otherwise the story canât continue, well, what did we roll all those die, look up all those stats, and track all that HP for? Why didnât we just describe the PCs winning and move on? Combat matters because it can change the outcome of the adventure, and if it canât change the outcome, why are you rolling dice? Of course with death being so possible, to keep it fun, we gotta include lots of âtoolsâ like cover, positioning, different weapons, special melee attacks, etc. that the PCs can use cleverly to give themselves an edge, and *earn* their survival.
Oh and also yeah canât wait to hear what you think about the monsters. Funny thing about that, everyone who has read the rulebook knows that monsters and other supernatural creatures are supposed to be really rare, like one supernatural person for every 3,000,000 normal people kinda rare, but, monsters are super cool and fun to play, and are one of the big draws of the system, so we were kinda worried that that rarity wouldnât come through in play, everyone would just be monsters. We considered setting a limit on how many monsters can be in a party? But quickly decided against it, because then players would have to compete for the limited monster slots, and people might even feel like if theyâre not filling in that slot every single adventure, theyâre missing an opportunity, and so every party would max out their monster limit every time and thereâd, again, be way too many monsters.
In practice, though, most parties in Eureka seem to be comprised of all normal people, or all normal people and 1 monster at most, even without the limit. And I suspect this is both because monsters are kinda difficult to play despite their immense power, and, just to brag, because we made the normal PCs fun has hell to play too. :)

Jude Jazza's PV Dissection âŸ.
Beneath the cut for event and other suitor's route spoilers. This is just for fun, and please feel free to kindly share what you think! To be honest, I don't think I have anything interesting to add, but here goes it...
My First Thought: Letâs just state the obvious and say that Judeâs route is going to be ANGSTY and WILD!!! That much is definite by watching the PV, and thatâs pretty much what we see in his events as well. The animation was beautiful. Thereâs a A LOT of recycled CGs, and majority of his lines come from his gacha cards and bond stories, but it gets the job done.
However, I feel like Jude is still very much under wraps. His PV barely gave us anything to go on that we donât already know about, or haven't theorized. Iâve watched it like 15 times. I counted the number of hands on the clocks to see if there were 13 (thereâs not), and paused to search the outline of Big Ben, and things like the shadows to see if something was hinted or hidden, but nothing.
Of course, that doesnât mean it didnât give us anything at all, but before we get into that, letâs just recap the premise of Act 2:
In Act 2, Kate has already been the fairytale keeper for one full week, and thatâs when Vogel enters the picture with the claim that they want to be âfriendsâ with Crown. Harrison knows that theyâre lying about something, and Darius, as we learn, is looking for âfamily members.â
NowâŠ..
Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick - The ticking clock is very prominent in his trailer, and that makes sense because Judeâs fairytale curse is associated with time. His icon is an hourglass, and he is very cognizant in events/routes about wasting time. Additionally, itâs interesting to note that several of Judeâs events often mention specific lengths of years that have passed, such as, Dark IF, GHR, Island Lust, and a bond story.
As far as the PV goes, I think it may be hinting that Jude is running out of time in the sense of accomplishing a goal, which will in turn fulfill a promise. Our average life span today is about 80 years, but back then it was much shorter, and I feel like Jude needs a lot of time to accomplish what he is doing. It could be that a single lifetime is not enough for him to accomplish it, but he is going to try anyway. Such as? Him traveling to the moon. I feel like the PV points to this at the outset with that giant full moon behind Big Ben. I think this may be a CG we get.
Conversely, it could be that he is running out of time in the sense that he is dying of an illness. We know for a fact that he suffers from seasonal asthma (which is triggered with enclosed spaces filled with smoke), he smokes himself, but he also suffered from childhood malnutrition, and that can cause a lot of issues. Still, I donât know how strong of a theory this is as Jude has no problem with physical exertion or activityâŠâŠnot looking at that one other gut I love in IkePri.
Additionally, a part of me feels like heâs just tired and he wants to die. To be honest, all these guys have some kind of death wish in one form or another, but in terms of Jude, Ellis said that he looked like he was going to fall into the river as he looked at the moon while chain smoking, and Roger said Jude looked like he was vacantly staring at the moon as if he had given up on something.
Notably, in Rogerâs past records, we learn that Jude uses cigarettes to fuel his rage to keep him living, and Kate also mentioned in his Cruise Liner event that anger is a great motivator.
So, for all intents and purposes, Jude is being kept alive by his own rage, cigarettes, the promise he made, and Roger. THANK YOU ROGER! Thatâs what I feel at least.
Rewinds/Record Scratches: I think glitchy rewind/record-scratching sound is being cleverly used to note the different tones we are going to see in his route, like I mentioned before, itâs going to be angsty and wild (thatâs what I feel anyway).
However, I will say that a part of me feels like itâs a nod to all the times he says things like, âonce youâve lost something, you canât get it back.' How many of us wish we could rewind and do things over or see someone weâve lost again, even if it were just for a minute?
Jude said in Rogerâs route that once someone is gone those left behind are stuck feeling a void, and I think heâd do whatever he could to rewind time if that were in his power. However, cue that jazzy music and we find ourselves in the interior of aâŠ..
Warehouse: No doubt by the docks that Jude frequents for deliveries, and while itâs nothing major, it does indicate one of the settings we will likely be at. Although, this is pretty obvious to most of us because in both his first event and his one year anniversary event, they are at the warehouses by the docks.
Personally, I loved the detail of the seagulls, not that is important in anyway, but I just got excited to see a visual of it instead of just imagining it. However, I am hoping to see something different in terms of what weâve already seen in both of those events. Kate getting caught by someone who broke their contract with Jude or is after Jude, and she is caught in the middle. Is that too much to ask?
Papers: We quickly shift to an office like space, whether this is located at Raven or at Crown, there is something very important to note in this scene, and thatâs not only the rows of books behind our clever mobster, but the bulletin board that has notes stuck all over them.
At first, I thought that this could be business plans, product information or designs, business targets, or information about the personal lives of those whom Jude makes contracts with. Ultimately, I think that these are engineering designs and research papers that heâs written and/or reviewed forâŠâŠmoon travel. If you look closely, one paper in particular has a definite design on it.
Why am I so hellbent on this? Because Jude says himself in his bond levels that heâs trying to nab all the researches and scientists that he can as quickly as possible, and that he was going to have Ellis look into the authors who wrote the papers he had been reading. On a random note, I donât think this would be his office space at Raven, but his personal office or room at Crown.
About that Bridge Scene: You know, the one where he looks completely over this shit as he smokes a cigarette? Then all of a sudden he shoots you that look like heâs gonna tear you up because heâs annoyed, and youâre like: Impregnate me, please? That one. So, the night that Ellis met Jude, Ellis said that he was standing on the bridge looking like he was about to fall into the river.
I believe this may be the second CG we may get of Jude in his route, and I want to know why he goes to the bridge? Is there special meaning to it? Did he visit that place with his loved one? Was a promise made under the moon? Is this were he wantsâŠ.things to end? And forgive this last bit, but I canât help but think of the song âMoon Riverâ when heâs at that bridge.
Ah, to hell with it, Itâs too pretty not have posted again:
How long: When we get to the scene of Jude and Kate in a somewhat awkward rain scene (I agree with my friends, her sprite looks out of place), he asks Kate how long she is planning to stick next to him. Here again, we have a form of time being hinted at, and Kateâs time with Crown should end in three weeks time.
Still, we donât know how far along we are in his route when he asks her this question, so itâs difficult to say how much time Kate has remaining with him at this point. What we can guess is that sheâs been at Crown long enough to have seen Jude do horrendous things - all of Crown - for that matter.
Additionally, she will have seen the filthy underbelly of England at that point, perhaps in the form of drugs, SA, human-trafficking and the like, if his events are any indication of that. Not to mention his cruel attempts to force her to give up on being fairytale keeper. So, how do you think Kate will answer, and will her answer disrupt his plans??
Unhinged, Possessive, Obsessive Jude: Is he really though? I think so. This is what I think will be the third CG - belonging to his Mad Love End. Did you all see those eyes??? He is UNHINGED, and I am HERE for it. I think it really drives home the point too that he is going to make her pay for placing a curse on him for the rest of her life - thatâs Judese for - Iâll make you pay for making me love you for as long as you live.
Seeing him that expression in his eyes and the way he plays with her hair, (this is also a thing Jude does in his events), really exemplifies the phrase that he also uses in that their being together is madness.
Thinking about it, it really wasnât until the Island Lust story that we started to see a small glimmer of Mr. Jazzaâs jealousy, and thatâs because Jude is often cold and controls any emotions that could be linked to her romantically. But we slowly start to see this change with Island lust, I gushed how he didnât like Kate thinking about the other Crown members when he was near her, and in effect, ignoring him.
In the Jude vs. Nica event, we got even more of his jelly side when he learned that Kate and Nica are on a first name basis, even though they just met. CUTEST THING EVER.
And finally, in his Dark Mafia card, Jude is ready to commit murder over the guys who are looking at Kate. So, Iâm really looking forward to seeing how jealous or possessive he may get once he gives into his feelings.
Pocket Watch: The time shows at 10:10 pm. Is this significant? I canât say for sure, but there is nothing odd about the pocket watch itself. The only thing I noticed is that the hands on the pocket watch arenât moving.
That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but letâs throw out a random idea I had about the watch actually being broken. It doesnât work. The time stopped at exactly 10:10 pm, perhaps some incident happened during that time when it stopped, and Jude wears it as a memento. Ultimately, I donât place too much stock in this because there's really no basis for it, but let's say we've covered our bases with this and move on to the last, but certainly not least...
My Evil (or sin), is an unfulfilled promise: His tag line at the endâŠ.I donât believe this is related to Judeâs fated demise. I have an inkling that Cybird may go the Disney route for his fate, but that can be a discussion for another dayâŠ.maybe. What I do believe is that this emphasizes Judeâs compellation to pay back an unfulfilled promise (essentially what amounts to a betrayal).
I donât feel that he MUST pay back betrayals that others experience, but if he is involved in a case in some manner of speaking (like for missions), Jude has been known to carry out revenge, such as he does to Anneâs father in GHR. Also, in the "Evil Behind the Scenes" event, Jude allows the husband of the wife who was unfaithful take care of things behind closed doors (it said it was supposed to be talking, but Ellis was in the room too, and who knows what the husband did). Itâs interesting, because Jude mentions that while he has no interest in harming women, betrayal must be repaid, so whatever happened happened.
This would make sense as to why Jude does everything he can to fulfill his own promises. But, what if he fails to keep his own promiseâŠâŠwhat happens then? Hope to find out soon.
That's all I could dig up. They really gave us nothing, but everything at the same time?
Honorable Mention: No eye Kate...please stop treating my girl this way cybird!

You know, we talk about sometimes how things happen on the show and it feels like, it feels a bit half-baked where it's like, oh man, if we had just given that a little bit more thought, we could have pulled this off so much more successfully. I felt like this was an example of they really executed it very well in terms of kind of seamlessly fitting in the eighties vibe, the homages to all of the different John Hughes movies. It was all done. Very, very just cleverly like, it all worked. None of it was sort of clunky or awkward, you know, because we're, we're referencing I think what, let's see, home Alone, 16 Candles, Pretty in Pink, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and Uncle Buck. That's a lot of movie references to get Right. You know, but they wove it all together quite well. -Rob

Here's our October recs â€ïž also, look at our new banner !! đ„° Happy reading !! Iâm just too soft for all of it by @bellamysgriffinprincess (book/movie-verse)
@dot524: This is a sweet one shot where Henry is struggling with depression, Alex drops everything to be with him, and they comfort each other. Very well done.
Confidential Memorandum by @sherryvalli (book-verse)
@wilmonsfolklore: this is such a sweet kidfic. Henry is Alex's boss, and Alex keeps getting calls from Henry's daughter when Henry is busy. It's heartwarming and comforting and the dialogue is wonderfully written, especially their love confessions.
@babiemonk: the perfect lighthearted kidfic! The child dynamic is perfect and the humor is spot-on. If youâre looking for a fun, feel good, story with some domestic fluffiness this is it.
@rmd-writes: a sweet, funny fic with excellent banter, and a stellar supporting cast of OCs. It quite literally made my face do this: đ„° I saved it with the note "read when you need to feel better about the universe).
Aged Like a Fine Wine by @three-drink-amy (book-verse)
@babiemonk: Alex and Henry are older now and cakegate never happened. Thereâs lots of emotions and angst and growth and itâs really quite beautiful but also tragic at times. It hurt my heart and my feelings before putting them back together again.
In my dreams (In your dreams) by @lizzie-bennetdarcy (book-verse)
@babiemonk: very cute drunken love confessionsâ absolutely precious friends to lovers

Help Me Hold On To You by @affectionatelyrs (book-verse)
@read-and-write-: A one- shot, a very cathartic one about the aftermath of a fight between Alex and Henry. This is one to cry from beginning to end, it's beautifully written and you will be left speechless.
flatline by rizcriz (book-verse)
@wilmonsfolklore: exes to lovers is one of my favourite tropes and this work shows perfectly how naturally and fully Henry and Alex love each other. it's sad and heartbreaking but it has a happy ending that makes the crying all worth it.
What I Need Tonight by @sparklepocalypse (book-verse)
@zwiazdziarka: This fic was written for Kinktober's prompt "selfcest", which for some might be sound a little too weird, but that's exactly why I picked this one as my monthly fave. If you like reading smut, give this a chance. Yes, it's hot but also emotional and it has Oxford-time slutty Henry!
heartbeats under coats by @hypnostheory (book-verse)
@heybuddy-drabbles: one of my favorite works to come out of FirstPrince week. It's really sweet and sexy. There was only one bed at its finest.
All Booked Up by @three-drink-amy (book-verse)
@heybuddy-drabbles: another FirstPrince week gem. This was just so beautiful. Alex and Henry meet during a vacation, spend three perfect days together and then loose contact until June and Nora force Alex to read a book they both love and something about it makes Alex think of Henry. I absolutely fell in love with it.
@rmd-writes: it's no secret that I'm an allmylovesatonce fan and this is one of my ultimate favourites of hers. A very cleverly told love story, with some wonderful June and Nora content as a bonus!
praying our bridges donât make waves by @anincompletelist (book-verse)

@indomitable-love: Absolutely loved this hanahaki fic â the pacing and tension are so good, the relevance of all the different flowers is just beautiful
It's Nice to Have a Friend by @mainstreamelectricalparade (book-verse)
@read-and-write-: Childhood Best Friends to lovers AU, where Henry, the prince of england meets another boy during a holiday, they send each other letters and they fall in love, it's soft and it's beautiful, a love that tascends the page and is reflected on all the characters actions.
I feel the beating of your heart, I see the shadows on your face by @anincompletelist (book-verse)
@daisymae-12: This fic has such an interesting premise, and although Iâve never been into the bodyswap trope Iâm so glad I gave this one a chance. It was done so incredibly well and was such a fun, wholesome fic.
Henry Fox, All-American Hero by @tintagel-or-cockleshells (book-verse)
@daisymae-12: This is a fic inspired by Meg Cabotâs All American Girl (which I am a huge fan of) and everything about this fic had me screaming in delight. Loved this so much, Iâm obsessed.
maybe take me into your room by @smc-27 (book-verse)
@thesleepyskipper: Alex and Henry are both the children of ambassadors to Canada from their respective countries in this lovely AU. Friends-to-lovers perfection, this was so, so good.
a degree of fate by @softlofty (book/movie-verse)
@dot524: In this AU, Alex and Henry meet as university students. This is a sweet get-together fic with depth and heart.
It's Tradition by @f-ing-ruthless-baz (book-verse)
@zwiazdziarka: Alex and Henry's soulmate bond revealed itself publicly and now they have to act like they're in love, even though they hate each other. This fic is such an excellent use of soulmate trope and looks into so many possiblities in a world were soulmate bonds exsist. It's also super funny, a little angsty and Alex is even more oblivious than usually.
Iâd be smart to walk away (but youâre quicksand) by @littlemisskittentoes (book/movie-verse)
@dot524: Such a wonderful, heartfelt 5+1 based on canon events when Henry walked away and one where he stayed.
Catalyst of Change by @uglygreenjacket (book-verse)
@myheartalivewrites: an AU thatâs pretty close to canon in some ways: Alex (still a well known child of politicians) and Henry (still a prince) meet as students in Edinburgh. This story is sweet and gentle and heart wrenching at points, but also incredibly uplifting in Henry and Alexâs determination to be together no matter the obstacles. And the Scottish setting is gorgeous and really evocative.
Ghosted by @tintagel-or-cockleshells (book-verse)
@suseagull04: Twists and turns abound in this story that borders the line between life and death. I love the depth of the plot and just how deeply and quickly Alex and Henry fall for each other- and the fantasy aspect immediately put this high on my list of faves! Not to mention all the great references to my favorite things throughout the fic. This fic is amazing!
Such a Burden, This Flame on My Chest by @three-drink-amy (book-verse)
@heybuddy-drabbles: a 911 Lone Star!AU very angsty but with a happy ending. Alex going through grief felt really fucking relatable. It's also spicy in contrast with the angst.
But I love him, whether or no. by @leaves-of-laurelin (book-verse)
@dot524: This firefighter AU is one of my favorite RWRB fics ever, and Iâm glad I was able to follow it from WIP status to complete this month. Alex as a firefighter is irresistible (Henry thinks so too) and somehow these two feel so true to character even in a completely different context. There are so many fun scenes here - riding a bull, an airport scene, shenanigans at a fire station, sentimental piano playing - but none of them are forced. Truly a wonderful fic that I know Iâll be returning to again and again.
@wilmonsfolklore: seconding this one so so so much!! read it in one sitting and have been thinking about it ever since then. there are so many heartfelt and sweet conversations in it. everyone's so true to their character in such a different situation. can not recommend it enough

âI donât like Alexander Rossi at all,â I say, as I trip and thousands of âRossi Off Track Loreâ screenshots from my notes app spill out of my jacket pocket. Anyway, hereâs more about the freak :)
Got into cycling because he went on a cycling trip with a group of âguys and their wivesâ (Kelly was not with him) in 2023. He said he was motivated to get into it because everytime you think youâre good, someone would come by ten times better than you. Competitive Rossi and his competitive tendencies, no surprise there. Tim joked he was going to sell his plane now, since biking was going to become the new thing, and Alex was like âno, I need the plane to get me to places where Iâll be biking.â James teased that this was going to become his new hyperfixation and Alex was like âyeah.â We love a self aware king :).
Immediately bought $300 bike shorts and an anti chafing cream called âdeez nutsâ because he thought it was funny. James wanted details on where and how itâs applied - feels self explanatory Jimbo, but you can be a freak on the pod if you want I guess. Freak 4 freak behavior.
Frequently does not check his texts and emails. Well, actually, he does. But if itâs an email he doesnât want to respond to, he will not open it so that way in his mind it is unread - same with texts.
Just this whole bit of convo between Alex and James, itâs not lore, I just think it speaks to their dynamic:
They barbenheimerâd or as James called it âoppenbarbiedâ because they opened with Oppenheimer and closed with Barbie. Who is they you might ask? Why, James, Alex, and Kelly of course - because they are obviously glued at the hip. Alex didnât want to see Barbie at all, described it as horrifying (he describes a lot of things he doesnât like as horrifying, like things that ick him out or piss him off are little jumpscares in his life), because he is a loser and lame. James said they had time to do it, Alex said they didnât, James corrected âwe made timeâ - making time to go to the movies with your best friend and his fiance heâs secretly already married to, ainât that what lifeâs all about.
âKelly and Becky talk more than you and I do about the stuff you and I doâ - James about how his and Alexâs wives are intimately involved in their friendship.
Alex loved Oppenheimer. And lowkey outed himself as a âhistorianâ. You know how kids get hyperfixated on specific historical events growing up? This one might have been his, very conceivable and real possibility. He was very passionate about Oppenheimer. Also called the cast âcharactersâ before he corrected and was like âwell theyâre real peopleâ. Heâs also called his fellow drivers on 100 Days to Indy âcharactersâ. Anyway, all this to say, this was basically him:
They did not like Barbie. Alex didnât think it was cleverly done, thought it was too obvious (heâs not wrong, but maybe he was not the one to speak on it). He said he, âasked James three times if (they) could leave.â Someone tell Alexander he still has free will, I think heâs tied himself too closely to his people and forgotten. Youâre not on a leash bud, just go outside đ.
#Alex lore#Rossi lore#who the fuck knows which one Iâm using anymore#anyway#Alex actually did barbenheimer and thatâs funny to me#man loves a challenge#competitive little shit#Alexander Rossi#indycar

Grooming also doesn't have to involve sex. So even if people think his relationship with Mystra was appropriate, you still can't deny he wasn't groomed to be great. The guy caught Elminster's attention at eight years old ffs. There's no way around it.
thatâs the thing. it doesnât matter at what exact point their relationship became sexual, it doesnât matter whether gale was of age at this point in time or not. grooming is a process, itâs pure manipulation that sets the groundwork to ensure that this person will be fully accessible (in whatever way the abuser desires, usually sexual) at a later point. children can be groomed, teenagers can be groomed and adults can be groomed as well - age is no factor in this regard. children are merely common victims due to being more impressionable. itâs essentially about creating a power imbalance that the abuser exploits for their own gratification.
the discussion about where to fit galeâs relationship with mystra in terms of her death & the overall timeline (while fun to theorize over) is redundant imo, since larian has been known to play pretty loose with the lore themselves. there are already so many inconsistencies.
so, the information we have regarding mystraâs relationship with gale are these snippets:
mystra first functioned as his mentor, then his muse, and later his lover.
galeâs relationship with her was indeed of a sexual nature, he has explicitly stated so several times.
elminster sought him out when he was but 8 years old, as stated in the epilogue letter.
during the ending where gale fails to ascend raphael states during the credits that tav has ârekindled galeâs ambitions after mystra had so cleverly put them to restâ
if you do want to consider d&d lore, it also tells us that mystra possesses a degree of foresight. (my friend @galedekarios already wrote a very thorough meta on the general subject.)
elminsterâs letter pretty much confirms any suspicions we might have had earlier. after all, what reason is there for elminster, one of mystraâs chosen, to seek out gale specifically? how was he aware of gale in the first place? what personal incentive could he possibly have that isnât tied to mystra in some way? why gale specifically when there are likely many young wizards with a potential for greatness that he could take under his wing? claiming that âit wasnât mystra who sought him out, but elminsterâ feels like a rather naive and shortsighted read on the situation imo. we know that mystra was galeâs mentor and that she eventually made him her chosen. it isnât hard to connect the dots.
summed up: we do know that mystra had her sight set on gale when he was an 8-year-old boy, possibly even earlier than that. the intention was already there and we know that their relationship underwent the transitions of teacher, muse, and then lover.
gale has been inevitably shaped by her grooming (just like any victim) to be devoted, to be compliant, to be loyal, to not question. many of his behaviors and beliefs are a direct result of said manipulation and abuse. gale himself is only starting to comprehend the possibility that he might actually be a victim once the tadpole crew comes into his life. and, like i said in my previous post, has barely scratched the surface of the damage that was done.
#sorry went on a lil tangent there#i just feel really strongly about this topic#grooming cw#abuse cw#mystra cw#bg3#gale dekarios#asks#it speaks

inextricable p3 Sasuke xFem!Uchiha!Reader)
a/n: thank you guys for your patience in waiting on this last part! I will be releasing the angst ending later today and will link it to this post for convenience later!! i also have to thank you for voting in how this part should turn out and overall even reading these!! this has by far been my favorite series and makes me want to do more in the future! also also, I was thinking about making this expandable if I get more requests, so you can request specific moments for the Uchiha Princess like Kakashi finding out she's pregnant or more on Sasuke and Y/N's stay in the Sand!
cw: violence, death, fighting, mentions of sex nothing crazy, pregnancy, etc. not proofread so shoot me
wc: 17, 212
part one // part two
He was thinking about you. He wondered what you would think if you could see him like this, teeming with rage and anguish. Ever since he was told about the truth, since he shared that truth with you, he hasnât been able to stop the rage brewing inside him. He watched his brother die, he helped kill him. He endured three days worth of suffering in his brotherâs genjutsu, watching helplessly as his parents died over and over. His brain was so damaged when they found him, it took a Tsunade miracle to piece him back together. He lost his best friend, separated in order for him to foster this hatred in order to carry out this revenge. He has done what his brother wanted: he has activated his mangekyo and stalked the man with the most to do with assigning Itachi this mission. Yet still, he yearns for your company. He wants you to see the man that wrecked your life too. He wants to help get your revenge too. But youâve always been so much calmer, he guesses that was Kakashiâs influence. Would you join him in this crusade? No. Youâve tried to talk him off the ledge several times, you would be appalled with his behavior. That realization hurts a little bit, hurts in a different way than everything else. Itachi engineered him to be a being of hate, knowing that someone would stop him from going too far. Does he think Kakashi or Naruto have the capability? Did Itachi prepare for that person to be you?
He knows that the newly-recognized Hokage Danzo will be in the Land of Iron, that all five kage would be in fact. He didnât initially plan on a visit to the Leaf, but the opportunity to see you again weighed heavily on him. He just wanted a chance to talk to you in person. To try and convince you one last time to join his revenge tour. He could teach you more and keep you safer than Kakashi can. You are the last of the Uchiha, you are inextricably bound to him. He needs you, this is meant to be a journey for two. You would come to him this time, heâs sure. You may disagree with his methods, but he remembers you swearing your allegiance to him, telling him with big teary eyes how much you missed him. Surely that would outweigh any anger you have. Thatâs why he sent Madara ahead to scope you out in the Leaf, to make sure you were safe and well cared for. So imagine the surprise, the pride, the wide amalgamation of anxiety and something close to fear that Sasuke experiences whenever Madara comes back to report the antithesis of what he had expected.Â
âThe Sharingan Princess is not in the Leaf.âÂ
Sasukeâs head whipped toward the masked man. âWhat? Not in the Leaf? Where is she?â He asks in rapid succession, getting to his feet.Â
Madara held his hands up in uncertainty. âWhoâs to say? She seems to be cloaking her chakra very cleverly. Sheâs been listed as a deserter in the Bingo Books.âÂ
Sasuke narrows his eyes in confusion, his mind reeling. He couldnât figure out what would make you leave so suddenly, he hadnât had the chance to speak with you in months, too focused on his plans. Had you become so worried you came to look for him? âWere you able to find out why she left?â He asks in more of a statement, expecting the man to provide more information.Â
You could hear the smile in the masked manâs deep voice. âPain attacked the Leaf. It seems many died in the initial attack, including your lady's father. Naruto Uzumaki was able to get Nagato to reno-rebirth them all, but it seems our Green Goddess of the Leaf left before that happened. They havenât seen her since. Naruto Uzumaki keeps making efforts to find her, no luck. Itâs believed that Y/N Uchiha has obtained the Mangekyo Sharingan with an ability similar to Shisuiâs dangerous Kotoamatsukami.â
Sasukeâs rendered speechless. Youâve been on the run for several months, with Mangekyo powers and with a renewed sense of hatred? He had to find you. His mission to the Iron seemed incomplete now, and he couldnât risk the Leaf finding you first. He glanced at the other members of his team and sighed.Â
âWe have to find her first.â Â
Madara chuckled. âNo need. It seems the Last Uchiha Princess was searching for you, and found you indeed.â He says, stepping aside to reveal your form. Time slowed to a stop, he swears. Your hair had returned to its full black, all the traces of dye long gone. The moonâs beams gave you an angelic glow. Your shinobi headband was gone .Two swords crisscrossed in sheaths on your back. Your eyes shined the color of blood, the symbol of your Mangekyo made his lips spread into a grin. You were beautiful, just as he knew you would be from his crows over their many visits. Revenge and anger flowed through you freely, and he thought that looked good on you.Â
A girl with bright red hair and eyes stepped forward with her arms crossed. She looked at you with malice. Your eyes snapped to her. âWhatever youâre thinking about saying to me, donât.âÂ
Sasuke nearly chuckles. Your presence was like medicine, and he was relieved to know your ferocity remained intact.Â
Karin frowned at your words, and the shark-featured boy next to her giggled lightly. âOh donât mind her, Y/N,â He says, as if youâre old friends, âSheâs probably just wondering how you found us.â
âI could detect Sasukeâs chakra even if he repressed it to zero.â You reply flatly. âPlus, I ran into this guy and followed him back up here.â You add, still eyeing the girl analyzing you. Her eyes flickered back to Sasuke, who was watching you carefully. You smirk at her, tracking her eyes. âHey, girl.â You chuckle, the smile on your face vicious, eyes crazy. âDonât try it.â You say as sweetly as you can manage, clapping her on the shoulder and moving towards your old friend.Â
She frowns, the smile on Sasukeâs face as you come closer was unmistakable mostly because he had never smiled so widely before. Suigetsu elbows her, distracting her from watching your every move.Â
Your smile wasnât missable either, and you did have to repress the urge to wrap your arms around him and cry out in relief. However, given the reputation youâve both acquired, it would be in bad taste. Itâs been years, four to be exact, since you last laid eyes on him. Heâs perfect, tall and well-built. Your cheeks grow warmer as you realize just how beautiful he has grown. Itâs also like no time has passed, his chakra presence putting your nervous heart at ease. He holds his hand out with a small half-smile. You never look away from his eyes as you gently place your palm in his. You turn your eyes off, returning his tiny grin. The moment felt intimate despite all the other people gathered in the hideout. The truth was the two of you had been imagining this moment for years, wondering when youâd find yourselves together again. He looked at you gently, with all the love left in his mangled dark heart. âIâve missed you.â
âIâve missed you too.â You say plainly, youâre both walking a fine line of collapsing into all your emotions and showing none at all. You felt vulnerable, and in front of Sasuke that was alright, but in front of all these new and dangerous Akatsuki members, you wanted to look strong. Because you are, the months that passed proved fruitful for your talents.Â
âIâm glad youâre okay.â He adds after, his thumb stroking the back of your hand mindlessly.Â
âItâs good to see you safe.â You say, essentially the same message. Weâre alive and back together.Â
He makes a nervous chuckle of some sort. He thought it was interesting that you considered him safe, he was a rogue nin and now you were too. âIâm..sorry. About Kakashi.â
Your grip on his hand loosened momentarily. The memory of his death flashes before your eyes and you're forcing yourself to smile gratefully. âI appreciate itâŠit truly was the last straw.âÂ
âDo you think he would support you?â Sasuke asks, more out of own curiosity since he knows that Kakashi is alive. He feared you finding this information out, would you flock back to him?Â
You nod. âKakashi specifically asked me to leave the village just before he was killed. I have to believe that he knew I would come to you.â You answer truthfully, able to talk yourself into believing that your adoptive fatherâs support and love for you could never waver.Â
He hums at your response. Perhaps you were right, it was a calculated risk that the Sensei took on his deathbed. It was desperate, but it made sense. Kakashi knows you well, he knew the craving for revenge that brewed in your heart and he wanted you to satiate it safely. Maybe he knew that the other Uchiha would never hurt you, maybe he just hoped that was the case. Either way, Kakashi would be stupid to think you wouldnât search for the only other person that mattered to you.Â
âHow did you find my chakra?âÂ
You smirk again, proud of yourself. âIâve told you, dear Sasuke, Iâm very strong.âÂ
He matches your expression, knowing that with his Mangekyo where it was as of now, you were probably just as prodigious as him. âI know youâre powerful, Y/N. I want to know the specifics.â
âI have insane chakra control and tracking abilities from my senseis.â You say, moving your bangs to show him the seal on your forehead. âI found an old friend of yoursâŠnameâs Kabuto.â You share with a shrug, watching Sasuke raise his eyebrow in interest. âHe told me about Danzo...the man that ruined our lives. Apparently thereâs a Kage Summit in the Iron, I knew youâd be around here somewhere. I could sense all the chakra pooling and then I saw Madara standing down there, almost like he knew I was coming.âÂ
âInteresting indeed, I wonder why Kabuto felt inclined to help you.â He says, truly just wondering out loud.Â
âSame reason anyone does, power. Heâll be an issue later.âÂ
Sasuke is markedly impressed. You had a variety of different talents and abilities, and though you may never be as strong as he was, he doubts many could ever be as strong as you are. And for a time, you were inarguably stronger. He was glad he never sparred with you. Your prowess in most fields made you borderline invincible. Perhaps Kakashi was no slouch after all.Â
âYouâve unlocked your Mangekyo.â He states, but his brow is raised like he wants you to add further comment.Â
You nod, hand still in his warm one, eyes still locked. âKakashiâs death.âÂ
He nods, the intensity of his gaze makes you feel like a precious jewel under his microscope. âI see. Your abilities?â
âSimilar to Shisuiâs. I donât have full blown mind control, but I can move the body and speak with the mouth. They usually donât remember anything that happens.â You reply with a broad grin, now this was something you definitely were proud of. "My other eye lets me cast my jutsu effects on others. So if I put someone in a genjutsu, they see my delayed sense on me and whoever I touch."
Once again he has to fight a chuckle. It felt weird, the odd rhythm of his heart as he looked at you with such fondness unfamiliar to everyone else. The other Akatsuki decided to give you some time to catch up, much to Karinâs dismay. They went to make preparations for their short journey into the Iron. This left the two of you standing alone in a cliffside cave, staring at each other in hopes it said everything you wanted to say.Â
âHave you performed a susanoâo yet?â He wonders where the limits of your expertise were without Kakashi there to guide you.Â
You shake your head. âI havenât needed to, you know how it goes.â
He nods. âThatâs good, but youâll need it soon.â He says with a hint of his familiar arrogance.Â
It makes you smile this time though, and you nod in agreement. âAlright, noted.â You hum, your smile so warm and genuine that itâs hard for him to imagine you as you were when you entered the cave. He takes time to admire your features, the arch of your brow and the pink dusting your cheeks. He notices the stress lines forming under your eyes, which makes him frown. But mostly he notices the purple headband on top of your dark hair and the purple earrings you wear, complete with purple bracelets. It was interesting, your clothes all black, he felt the need to comment his thoughts.Â
âI thought I was purple and you were green?â He asks, the ode to childhood seemingly out of place given your current conversation of power.Â
You touch the headband with your free hand, almost like you knew thatâs why he said anything at all. âOh. I guess I was. I just like the familiarity of purple.âÂ
The sentiment in your voice hits him like a ton of bricks. He had noticed the headband before, thinking it was some sort of reminder of him. But it ran much deeper than that, the headband was your prized possession. It gave you lines to both Sasuke and Kakashi, made you feel close to them. You needed no reminder of him, you needed a connection. He thinks of the way his chest tightened every time he saw something in the same deep green of your tricycle, the same shade of your chakra, the bright lime. It put your face in his mind each time it happened. His hand squeezes yours, suddenly refocused on the lack of a normal childhood he had, you had, what you two could have had together.Â
âWeâll kill him. For Itachi, for Shisui.âÂ
You nod. âFor our parents, for the entire clan.âÂ
Naruto slams his fist on the wall, clearly frustrated and guilty. He canât find you. He canât find Sasuke, though, even he is smart enough to assume you two are together. Losing Sasuke crushed him. He loved him like his own brother, even though he never really knew how that felt. He saw Sasukeâs strength and wanted to surpass it, make a name for himself and become Hokage. But how could he do that if he canât protect the people he loves? Losing you was a devastating blow. You were family, his love for you hard to quantify. You were the sunshine of Konoha, how could you leave?Â
Kakashi insists itâs his fault, though itâs easy to see his grief wearing on him. He told you to leave the village. At that point, he was scared for your life. He just wanted you to get away, preferably finding Naruto. He should have been smarter than that, but in that moment of weakness heâs able to admit he thought about the possibility of you going to Sasuke. He wasnât angry, nor would he say heâs necessarily disappointed. Itâs hard to put a name on this feeling, other than guilt. Heâs sad, and heâs worried about what this means for the future, but he knows if you were here right now he would sigh with relief and hug you close.Â
âDonât be too hard on yourself, Naruto.â Kakashi breathes, trying to hold tightly to the students he had left. He can see how this weighs heavily on the young man, his face tightened up as he tried not to scream and cry.Â
âMy friends! What have I learned if I canât even keep my friends in the village?!âÂ
âIt has nothing to do with you, Naruto..â Kakashi says in comfort, his own heart panging at the sentiment. What kind of Dad am I if I canât keep her in the village? âTheyâŠhave their own troubles to deal with. In time, we will get them back. I donât think heâll hurt her.â Kakashi adds, hoping to ease some of Narutoâs worries.
The blond widens his eyes, looking at the last teammate. âHeâs tried to kill Sakura twice!âÂ
âHe wonât.â Kakashi repeats, more sternly this time, trying to convey a message behind the simple statement. He was trying to say, âYeah, well, Sakura isnât his childhood friend and last lady Uchiha either. She doesnât matter to him the same way Y/N does.âÂ
Narutoâs lips tightened in a thin line, seemingly dissatisfied with Kakashiâs urgency. âArenât you worried sick? Sheâs an enemy of the village now!â
This was true, as a deserter there were no exceptions. Classified as a SS threat, there was nothing he could do to lower your profile now. All you had were enemies, in a way, Kakashi was hoping you did make it to Sasuke. He tried to sway Tsunade, explaining that he told you to leave, but it was no use. The Lady Hokage was visibly upset by this as well, a mentor to you in your teenage years. He knew it would take work, but he knew he could get you admitted back into the village after some time. Even if you had to serve a small sentence, it would be better than living as a rogue nin for all your days. He only wished there was a way to find you, but you knew how to hide. He had taught you. And you didnât even know he was alive, if only he could talk to you.Â
âOf course Iâm worried about her future, but Iâm not worried about her safety at the moment. It would be wiser to come up with some sort of plan.âÂ
âGo on, take it.â Your best friend says, holding out a red crane fashioned from folded paper. He had made you all kinds of things, a paper purple rose, a gray elephant, an orange cat. He never looked you in the eye when he handed you the little trinket, almost like he was embarrassed.Â
You smile softly, gently taking the bird from him and inspecting it. He really was quite good at origami, and you wondered when he learned how to do this. âThank you Sasuke.â
âMm.â He grunts in acknowledgement, fingers busy working on yet another paper craft.Â
âI wish I knew how to make you something, I feel so useless over here.â You chuckle, setting the crane down next to his other creations.Â
He sighed, like it was a dumb thing to say. âYou are giving me something.â
You hum in amusement, thinking about what he could mean. You two rarely spoke in lengthy flows, much of your communication was non-verbal or through a system of subtle noises. âIâm stumped.â
He looks into your eyes this time, and slides his latest design across the mountain-side hideout floor.You arch your brow and notice the light shade of pink dusting his cheeks and nose bridge. You look down at his symbol of affection, a green paper heart under your fingers.Â
âYou came to me, thatâs quite the gift.âÂ
Itâs your turn to heat up. You knew you couldnât tease him like your first instinct is to, since heâs being so vulnerable, but it also made you feel a tad exposed. âYou have a point there.â You hum, deciding to combine both approaches. âDoes this mean this qualifies as the date you said you would take me on when you saw me again?â
Itâs no wonder that neither of you are well versed in the language of feelings and human emotion. All you knew was that Sasuke meant more to you than anyone in the world.Â
A couple beats of silence pass, and he hums in approval. âYes.â
The three of you stand on the bridge, carefully watching as Danzo Shimura unravels the heavy bandaging around his arm. When he drops the gauze, Karin gasps. His right arm was riddled with the sharingan of your dead clan. Your eyes narrow in anger, the pit in your stomach impossible to ignore. These are the deep seeds of hatred, and you are letting them grow. Sasukeâs eyes widen and then squint in disgust, the stare in his eyes as dark as they come.Â
His regular sharingan analyzed the mutative arm his enemy possessed, and with a menacing tone he asked, âHow did you get those eyes in your right arm?â
Danzo looked unbothered, the eye visible to his challengers closed, the other side bandaged up in similar fashion to his arm. It made you feel as if he were hiding more of your clanâs eyes under there. You searched to find Shisuiâs, determined to take it back, but you couldnât see it easily. That was to be expected, your brotherâs Kotoamatsukami was easily one of the most powerful Mangekyo abilities to be had, and your training on your own had discovered it was much the same. You could now influence thoughts as well as control the body, you could choose when to release it, and it was only penetrable by other genjutsu. Still, it would be nice to have your brotherâs eyes back in your family and usable for your Eternal Mangekyo. It was clear either way that the man before the Last of the Uchiha severely underestimated the power of each of you individually.Â
âThrough various means, it would take too long to describe.â He answers nonchalantly.Â
âAny explanation would have upset me more.â Sasuke says with a stern frown. He closes his eyes. âForget it. Iâve decided to kill you. Y/N, stay back unless I need you.â He says, to which you nod affirmatively. You would step in if his chakra was running out, as your chakra control and storage made you tireless. He nods back, satisfied with your answer. âBefore that, let me ask one thing: Is it true that Itachi Uchiha eliminated our clan by order of the Elders?â
Danzo doesnât respond. He simply starts weaving hand signs and staring blankly at him, and then he runs. He sprints full speed straight at Sasuke, reeling his arm back for a chakra packed punch. Itâs stopped by a purple wall of Sasukeâs chakra.Â
âPart of a susanoâo..â You wonder softly aloud.Â
Danzo stumbles back in surprise. The fist of Sasukeâs summons sweeps Danzo into the air and threatens to crush him.Â
âSo this is the Susanoâo.â The old man groans, obviously struggling for breath in this chakra hold. The fist starts to squeeze inward. Youâre standing off to the side, not quite able to read Sasukeâs expression, but his raised voice tells you everything you need to know.Â
âIâm going to ask one more time. Is it true that Itachi Uchiha eliminated my clan by order of the Elders?â His voice thunders, larger than youâve ever heard before.Â
Danzo looks at you, clearly unfocused on Sasukeâs line of questioning.Â
âIâm asking if itâs true!â Sasuke roars again, demanding his attention. The Susanoâoâs fist tightens once more, and youâre sure Danzoâs bones will start to break soon. You smile at this, knowing it is kinder than what he deserves. Danzo grunts out, the pain clear. âAnswer me!âÂ
âIâI didnât think he was that kind of man.â The Leafâs Hokage says with a trace of disgust. Sasuke gasps softly at his words. âDamn Itachi. I see he revealed everything to you before he died. As I thought it seems that you are truly special, that younger sister of Shisui as well.â
Sasuke seems stunned, lost in thought momentarily. Youâre thinking of the night of the massacre, what Itachi said to him then. He made hate his driving emotion in hopes of this, this revenge thatâs happening right before your very eyes. He built Sasuke himself, pushing him as far as he could go to increase his power. Did he do this for you as well? Did he know that you would become such a powerhouse yourself, was he expecting you to be part of this retribution?Â
Surely. Itachi was nothing if not meticulous and intelligent. He could basically see the potential future, and he figured out exactly how to play the cards to his game. He knew. He knew there was nothing he could do to keep the two of you apart forever. He just needed it to happen long enough for Sasuke to breed this strong emotion in his chest. He needed you to learn under talented teachers until the day you came back to serve in avenging the Uchiha.Â
Itachi and Shisui were betrayed by the shinobi world, abused and thrown away like nothing. You find yourself clutching your fists and begging for a chance at one of the men that made it all happen.Â
âAnswer me!â Sasukeâs voice cuts through your hazy train of thought.Â
âIâŠI didnât think Itachi was the kind of man who would reveal secrets.â Danzo says, genuinely frustrated that Itachi dared to share their corrupt ways.Â
âDoes that mean itâs true?â Sasuke asks calmly.Â
You watch as his susanoâo grows in power. The formerly bony skeleton mass of purple chakra became strapped in muscle and flesh, eyes glowing like two stars in its skull. You marvel at the creation, grinning at what you would be able to accomplish in time. Who knows, maybe you would get the chance to try it out against this pile of trash. Sasuke stands proudly before his susanoâo, knowing heâs effectively bulletproof. Karin gasps and covers her face in fear, making you roll your eyes. And she hoped to be with Sasuke? Sakura was more bold.Â
âSelf-sacrificeâŠThatâs what epitomizes a shinobi. Never seeing the light of day. Toiling in the shadows. It is as it was in the past. That is what a true shinobi is.It describes not only Itachi. Countless other ninja have died the same way. Niceties alone will not make the world go round. Peace was attained all because of people like him.â He says, almost generous in the way he speaks. That demeanor quickly turned sour. âPeople like you who misunderstood Itachiâs intentions couldnât possibly understand. Still, for Itachi to reveal such a secret to you makes him a traitor to the Leaf.âÂ
Upon hearing those words, Sasukeâs Susanoâo fully closes his fist around the man, and your eyes widen slightly as the blood oozes out from its palm.Â
âDonât say anymore about Itachi!â Sasuke said, staring at the dangling corpse of Danzo.Â
âYouâre rightâŠThen let us proceed to a battle of the eyes.â Danzoâs voice rang out from behind him, kunai drawn. Sasuke whips his head around, Mangekyo fully displayed, Susanoâo surrounding him. Danzo charges again, attempting to plunge the blade into the chakra shield.Â
You were astounded that the fool was even alive, knowing it had to be some kind of ability related to the sharingan he stole. But even you had to laugh aloud at his pathetic attempt at piercing a Susanoâo. Karin looked at you wearily, and you just shrugged. It was a terrible move.Â
âAs expectedâŠSusanoâo.â Danzo says as if the gigantic chakra skeleton man did not tell him that it was a Susanoâo. You cover your mouth so as to not laugh again. âJust the thing to protect yourself.âÂ
At just the moment he finished speaking, Sasukeâs susanoâo dropped a pile of rocks likely from the landscaping above. It landed right on top of Danzo, yet you felt as if he would somehow escape this death too. You watched as the debris cleared, focused on Sasuke and his chakra levels. He was using quite a bit with his Mangekyou and Susanoâo. You needed to figure out what kind of jutsu Danzo was using and quickly, to end this for good.Â
âThe power in its attack is as expected.â Danzo says, you and Karin quickly look to the side of you. There he stood, up on a carved stone tower a few hundred feet away. Sasuke stared at him, you could tell he was working to sort it out just as you were, but the emotion he felt was getting harder and harder to ignore.Â
You knew this couldnât be a genjutsu. You were extremely resistant and everyoneâs chakra remained undisturbed. It had to be some unique ability connected to one or all of the sharingan in his right arm. Sasukeâs Susanoâo had only formed from the spine up, yet it had the balance to rear back a punch to the tower, sending Danzo flying on a lifeboat of a stone slab under his feet. He landed on the ground below, just in time for another punch from the chakra being. Fog from the debris clouded your vision and flew towards you both, Karin screaming out in fear. Against better judgment, you wrap your fingers around her wrist and reluctantly pull her out of the way with you.Â
You turn your regular Sharingan on, searching for Sasuke within his Susanoâo. You see him fly towards the head of his summons, and you hear the faint deep rumble of, âAmaterasu.âÂ
You sigh, knowing he would be even more depleted by this, and Danzo would know that too. The fog clears enough for you to see the Elder being consumed by the signature black flames of Sasukeâs Mangekyo ability. Danzo plummets to the ground in agony as Sasuke lands back on his feet with his chakra shield summon dissipating around him.Â
You can see how tired he is, and you begin to worry. Heâs been using his Mangekyo all this time, it had to be bleeding or close to it. His body heaved with heavy breath, yet you knew this still was not over. Effectively the third time he had killed the Hokage, but it was not over. You and Karin scanned for his chakra presence, shouting in unison, âSasuke, behind you!âÂ
âWind Style: Vacuum Bullets!â Danzo shouts as he weaves his hand signs to activate the jutsu. It sends several compressed air bullets flying Sasukeâs way, and you wince as once slices open the top layer of skin on his arm. It shatters the rocks as he flies through the air to avoid them, sending himself flying over the bridge.Â
âSasuke!â Karin cries out, moving towards him. Your hold on her wrist keeps her in place, she looks at you with confusion.Â
âHeâs not an idiot, he has a plan.â You promise, eyes focused on the scene.Â
Before you know it, Sasuke is rising before you, standing on the back of a giant hawk. Karin sighs in relief, but you just smile smugly. You never doubted him for a minute.Â
Danzo chuckles. âAmaterasu. Itâs been a while since I last saw that. You are Itachiâs younger brother after all.âÂ
Itâs now that you can see his face that you confirm your earlier suspicions. His left eye is already bleeding. He hovers in the air on the bird, crouched on its head. Your eyes flicker between him and the enemy, watching as an eye closes on the back of his arm. That had to be significant.Â
âYouâve taken over Itachiâs jutsu.â Danzo observes, just serving as kindling for Sasukeâs fire.Â
âI told you never to speak of Itachi again!â He reminds not-so-politely.Â
âBrothers with the same abilityâŠYet, what your eyes perceive is so different. I wonder if the sister of Shisui is the same. The truth about them doesnât matter to you. You direct your hatred at whomever you can lay your hands on. You two make the sacrifice of the Uchiha Clan meaningless.â He spits, holding that disgusting right arm over his face.Â
Sasuke snarls. âYou have no right to talk about the Uchiha!â His bird soars toward the man standing on the bridge, his hand gripping his sword. Danzo begins to weave more hand signs.
âWind Style: Vacuum Blast!â This attempt sends some of the debris towards the hawk, which the rogue nin easily evades by jumping off and pulling his sword in the air. Sasuke scans for him in the smoke, catching the spinning shuriken hurled his way. He easily evades this as well, bending backwards out of line of danger and flipping himself to a safer position. He positions his sword in front of his face and spots Danzo atop a large rock pillar. He sends two more rounds of spinning shuriken Sasukeâs way. He catches one on the tip of his sword and sends the other one flying in the air. You notice the screech of his hawk, as if he was instructed to do something here. Sasuke slings his sword, sending the rotating weapon back to the sender. Danzo knocks it upwards, watching as it takes a chunk of rock off hurtling toward the spot where he stood. He had no choice but to move towards Sasuke. The Uchiha jumped toward him, hopeful of landing a blow with his sword, but Danzo caught him by his neck.Â
Your eyes widen in anxiousness, Karin once again pathetically screams his name. The hawk screeches again, and you see the missing shuriken from earlier come back into play, slicing Danzoâs arm and allowing Sasuke to strike yet another fatal blow. You inched forward, hoping this was the final time. How many times could Danzo use whatever it was he was using? Surely he would be done soon. Karin elbows you as another eye on his right arm closes.Â
âItâs like they represent his lives, almost.â You say, to which she nods.Â
âNo way!â She says, prompting you to follow her eyesight up to where Danzo once again stood above you all on one of the only carved pillars remaining.Â
âItâs useless.â Danzo says to Sasuke once more. The wind blows across Sasukeâs face, moving his hair to let you see the serious glimmer to his eyes. He would not give up, you would have to join him yourself when he got too tired. His eyes widened again, and out from his body came a murder of crows. Danzo seemed genuinely thrown off by this, searching wildly around him, coming face to face with the figure of Itachi.Â
âTh-this isâŠItachi?â The man asked, staring at the sharingan of the boy gone too soon.
Itachi stares blankly at him, more crows circle overhead.Â
From the ground, you watch Sasukeâs chakra dwindle even more as he says,âDieâŠAmaterasu.âÂ
Danzo is consumed in flame yet again, but now you begin to expect his scheming survival. âI commend you for placing me under genjutsu.âÂ
Sasuke capitalized, taking the time that he had for Danzo to be distracted to appear behind him, sword nearly pressed into his back.Â
âHoweverâŠâ He knew Sasuke was there. He realizes this truth too, grimacing. The blade of the sword dropped a little.Â
âSasuke! Nowâs your chance! Why did you stop?â Karin yells, and you want to punch her for her stupidity.Â
âHe canât move.â You say, the answer is obvious to you. And sure enough, a curse mark burns its way up Sasukeâs body.Â
âI was aware of your genjutsu long ago. It is a far cry from Itachiâs powerful Tsukuyomi in which he freely manipulated time.â Danzo says dismissively, heâs growing arrogant.Â
Itâs clear that Danzo placed this mark when he touched Sasuke earlier, and you didnât come this far to watch him lose. This is what you were here for, it was time for you to take over. You turn your eyes to Mangekyo, ready to throw your version of Kotoamatsukami down. You feel a hand on your shoulder before you can focus, causing you to turn toward the figure.
Seemingly, Karin had the same hopes to help as you did, mindlessly running up the pillar and subsequently being plainly kicked off. She lands in a pile of rocks with a loud whine, and you fight a smirk.Â
You shrug the hand off your shoulder, faced with Madara Uchiha. You sigh at him.Â
âHe needs to do this on his own, itâs Itachiâs will.âÂ
âSometimes I think youâre just making shit up for your own benefit. Itachi doesnât want him to die!â You argue back with a faint snarl.Â
Once again, you can hear the fondness coating his voice. âOh, dear Y/N, have some faith.â Madara encourages, eye flickering between the fighting above and you. It was apparent that someone had to keep you back, or else you would prevent Sasukeâs growth. Danzo makes eye contact with you both on the ground, seemingly deep in thought.Â
You sigh and fold your arms over your chest, pouting like a child. âI deserve revenge too.âÂ
Madara nods. âAnd you will have it, my dear. We both want to see Sasuke at his fullest potential. He cannot do that if you save him now.âÂ
You bite the inside of your lip and nod. âFine.âÂ
But Madara is not dumb, he wonât leave you unattended now.Â
âHeâs your ultimate mistake.â The words from above caught your attention, watching with true fear as he swung Sasukeâs own blade toward his paralyzed body. You jump, but Madaraâs arms stop you.Â
You gasp. The Susanoâo reappears, much bigger and sturdier than before. It burns a mass of purple flamed chakra, the skeleton becomes armored and stands tall. Sasuke lets out a guttural yell, and you can tell his chakra stores are expanding, as if heâs leveled up his hatred yet again. The curse mark fades, and he gains control of his own body.Â
Danzo sucks in a breath and flies through the air. He tries to stay out of reach of the Susanoâo, landing on the remnants of the bridge in front of the armored mass. Sasuke shoots an arrow of pure chakra at the man. He looks as if heâs about to weave, but then abandons it in favor of summoning a massive tree to absorb the blow.Â
âWood style?â You hum to yourself, amused and confused. You notice how his chakra has plummeted with the attack as well, making you take a sigh of relief. It all makes sense to you, something Tsunade showed you a long time ago. Hashirama cellsâŠit must be to manipulate the powers of the sharingan. He must be getting close to his last few extra lives, and thatâs why heâs getting desperate.Â
âSasuke! Thatâs the real Danzo! The jutsu that makes him invincible is broken right now!â Karin yells out, making you hum. She was smarter than she acted. âHeâs vulnerable!âÂ
That makes you slap your hand over your face. If she figured it out, if you figured it out, that means he had figured it out too. The last thing he needed was her advertising that he knew.Â
Danzoâs seals were fast, but Sasuke raced to hit him with another purple beam of chakra. He was clearly exhausted, one eye closed it was ailing him so badly. He was breathing hard, trying to accomplish his one true goal for the two of you. He felt rejuvenated, having you there to watch. He didnât want you to fight. As good as you were, he hoped he could prove to you that he could defeat anyone on his own.Â
Karin celebrates, but you hold your breath.Â
Surely, Danzo reanimates just next to the spot he was standing in. You look at Karin, she had figured out his chakra levels were fluctuating just as you had.Â
âThe key has to be in the eyes that close. Maybe theyâre used up for the time being?â You hypothesize aloud.Â
âSasuke!â Karin brainlessly calls again, causing you to grab her and shake her a little.Â
âGet a grip. Your screaming is only going to distract him or get him killed, and if that happens, I will kill you. So shut up, and keep watching Danzo for better reads.â You say, to which the redhead tearfully nods.Â
Danzo runs for the Susanoâo only to be impaled by the chakra weapon. Itâs almost as if nothing happened, Danzo appears again right in stride, still running towards Sasuke. He creates a gigantic air bubble, blowing it towards the Susanoâo. Itâs guarded easily, but you can tell these attacks are just to bait him and tire him out more. You believe in his abilities, but he didnât have to fight alone, so why make him?
âMadara, please, heâs running out of time.â You say shortly, eyeing the masked figure that still stood so close.Â
âNo.â
You huff, folding your arms again. âThis is ridiculous.â You turn your head back toward the action in front of you. Or rather, inaction. Danzo stood, catching his breath and analyzing his next move. You would finish him where he stood, no time for pleasantries. You were sure he would do the same if he wasnât so wiped.Â
To your surprise, Danzo summons a massive elephant-like beast. It creates a vortex of wind as Danzo sprints toward the Susanoâo. The summon sucks everything toward it like a vacuum, allowing him to get close enough for another wind style attack. The Susanoâo is unable to move properly, and it seems as if Danzo needed that to happen .Â
Sasuke sends a fireball for the beast to eat, gaining mobility of his Susanoâo back, He swings around in time to punch his opponent in the face and body, sending him flying towards the rocky ground. Sasuke falls to his knees, and you inch toward him, though you know you wonât be allowed to move much further. Sure, you could try to fight Madara, but that would only distract Sasuke and possibly damage his support so you didnât want to take the risk. Though it slowly became more and more of an option as you watched your best friend cough up blood.Â
Your heart quickened, the thought of the only person in the world that held your heart perishing here, right in front of you, just days after youâve reunited, felt like hell. You needed him to get up and finish this so that you two could get the revenge you deserved.Â
The Susanoâo starts deteriorating, matching Sasukeâs chakra levels. Karin explains her findings aloud, and you nod along with her explanation. âOh please donâtââ
âSasuke!â She calls up to him, âI figured out a little bit of that guyâs jutsu! Listen. Alright?â
âWhen all ten of your eyes have closed on your right arm, your jutsu will be undone, isnât that so?â Sasuke asks, focused on the enemy.Â
You smirk, and look at the girl with a glimmer in your eyes that portrays exactly how smug you feel.Â
Danzo seemed unimpressed, but his words prove otherwise. âYou knew about Izanagi?âÂ
âAs I suspected!â Sasuke says, dropping down to his level inside the remnants of the Susanoâo.Â
âYou tricked me? What a crafty brat.âÂ
âY-you fool! Why are you engaging him?â Karin asks, and you slap her arm.Â
âHavenât you questioned him too many times? Let him prove himself.â You say with a fond smile, proud of what Sasuke had been able to accomplish. You still wanted to vent your rage, but Madara had a different target in mind for you.Â
Danzo tried to stop the Susanoâoâs approach with a gust of wind, but it was only delayed. He dropped an elbow down on top of the Hokage, waiting to see if an eye closed. It did.Â
âSasuke! Get away from him now!â Karin panics, outwardly showing her fear. Thatâs where she made her mistake, and you know it. âProlong the battle!âÂ
You groan, watching as Sasuke turns away from her loudmouth. He doesnât hear her, you donât think. Heâs entirely too focused. âYou idiot, if that means that his jutsu is undone, then all of Sasukeâs chakra is still gone and heâs uninjured.âÂ
Sasuke has his back to you, but when he turns back around heâs flinging shuriken at the man coming at him in the air. Another eye closes. Just two more minutes, two more killing attacks. Danzo disappears from midair, appearing behind him. Sasukeâs palm is encapsulated by chidori, one of the only things that he learned from Kakashi. He forms it into a sword, wielding it by his side as he yells, âHow many Uchiha did you kill to get that right arm?!âÂ
Danzo has a chakra blade of his own it seems. âIt was Itachi who enabled me to get it.âÂ
âYou made him do it!â Danzoâs eye grows wider and everyone watches in wonder. Sasukeâs lightning blade rests burrowed deep in his chest.Â
âYou were too hasty. My eye is still open. Go to Itachi so he can lecture you. I win.âÂ
You shook your head in disbelief. No, this couldnât be it. He had done it! What did he mean, he wins, no he doesnât! Not against Sasuke, not here.Â
âYou may think youâve seen through Izanagi..â But then the manâs eyes go wide in a mix of shock and fear. He coughs up a stream of dark blood. Itâs not working, you think, Sasuke put him under a genjutsu. The last eye closes, and you clench your fists as you eagerly watch on. Sasuke pushes the man back slightly, freeing his lightning blade from his abdomen.
âYouâre the one who is going to see Itachi.â Sasuke states smugly, watching as his opponent fell to his knee with a grunt of pain. Sasukeâs exhaustion was clear, and you hoped this would be the extent of it. Youâre not as confident about him having to do this over if the Izanagi was undone. With another yell of suffering, Danzo falls forward on his hands, inches away from Sasukeâs feet.Â
âNow thatâs battling with your eyes. Donât underestimate the Uchiha.â
You watch them carefully. Danzo never used Shisuiâs eye, perhaps he was worried about you or Sasuke or even Madara getting it back. You knew that he was seeking power and prowess, but you were sure he would allow you to keep your brotherâs eye. You want to get it back, it shouldâve never been abused like this. None of this should have happened like this. Danzo is the reason your brother is dead. All because they wanted his abilities. You are his second coming, the now mostly heartless version of the boy who had been so kind. Your abilities will make up for the loss of his.Â
Ripping you out of your thoughts was Sasukeâs yell of pain. You focus back on the present, moving toward him as far as Madara would allow. Karin runs fully fledged, and youâre annoyed that he lets her. This of course is an ultimate move to keep you out of danger and to allow Sasuke to be the best. Madara knows Karin canât contribute anything too useful, whereas you could have used your Mangekyo ability to control everything.Â
Karin crouches next to him. âAre you alright? Hurry up and bite!âÂ
You roll your eyes. That would be how her healing works, how stupid. He grabs her arm and his eyes flitter over to you for a moment. He looks back down at her wrist and reluctantly chomps down. You can actually feel your body temperature increase when she moans out and turns red, obviously getting something from this.Â
âBringing that woman was a wise decision, sheâs useful. I see why Sasuke chose her.â Madara says, and you wonder if he gets pleasure from pissing you off. Youâre fully capable of healing too, it really wasnât necessary for her to be here at all. Sasuke did want her to join, however, and now youâre wondering why. It felt silly to be so jealous at a time like this, so you force the thought out entirely, choosing instead to watch the scene before you.Â
You watch as Danzo summons yet another huge tree from his Hashirama given ability. It makes you wish you could make trees this powerful under your plant jutsu, but the wood style was so unique to the first Hokage.Â
âWhat a persistent guy!â Karin says as Danzo reaches to undo the bandages covering his head and right eye. You almost shout for her to get out of the way, but something causes the words to die in your throat.Â
âNot yet. This is where we battle with our eyes.â Your stomach sinks. This could really only mean one thing. The sharingan in his head was Shisuiâs. All you see is red, wishing you could throw caution to the wind in order to get it back.Â
Almost as if heâs able to read your thoughts, Madaraâs other hand claps down gently on your shoulder. âWeâll be getting it back.â He promised, needing both of the Uchiha to unlock their eternal Mangekyo status. His visual prowess combined with yours would make any opponent terrified to stand across from you.Â
Sasuke realizes this as well, recognizing the sharingan pattern of your older brother. He charges at Danzo with his left hand consumed by Chidori. But Danzo doesnât wait for him to make it, choosing to run around to hold Karin by the neck. You clap your hands over your face. Of course, she would be annoying this entire mission and then get herself taken hostage when the battle was nearly won.
âYou used your visual prowess too much, didnât you?â Danzo asks, a smug expression on his face.Â
Karin struggles in his grip. âSasuke..!âÂ
âUseless.â You mutter, directly arguing Madaraâs earlier claims. âI could have healed him faster and avoided this.â
âIsnât it ironic that you, who glorified self-sacrifice, would take a hostage?â Sasuke asks calmly. You know that he has a plan.Â
âItâs not that I consider my life precious. But for the sake of the Hidden Leaf VillageâŠfor the ninja worldâŠI cannot afford to die here.â He replies, making it clear how much of a rat he truly is. He cares not for the Leaf like he claims, he only cares about power and winning. âNo matter what the means, I must survive. For I will be the one reformer who will change this ninja world. This woman will be sacrificed for that cause.â He adds, tightening his hold on the redheaded healer.
You canât find it in yourself to care. You just want Danzo dead and your brotherâs eye returned to you. You want to get rid of this whiny brat that thinks that she has any of Sasukeâs attention. You want to balance out the scales and go home, wherever that would be.Â
âSasuke help!â She pleads again, not an ounce of self-preservation instinct in her.Â
âDonât moveâŠKarin.â Sasuke says authoritatively, causing the girl to smile with relief. You gasp. He looks terrifying right now, nothing but coldness and brutality emanating off of him. He shoots a beam of his chidori straight out, hitting Karin and Danzo both.Â
Karinâs eyes are wide, blood seeping from her mouth. Even you are surprised. Your shock turns into a smile, appreciating his desire for revenge. He would never let Danzo get away, just like he had promised to himself and to you.Â
Danzo is stilled, hit in a vital point. It should just be seconds before he draws his last breath.Â
âBrotherâŠone down.â He says with a satisfied smile.Â
âSasukeâŠwhat was I to you?â She asks desperately, as if the answer was not clear by his willingness to sacrifice her life to get what he wanted.Â
âKarinâŠYou managed to get taken hostage, you are nothing but a burden to me.â His chidori finally powers down and Karinâs injured form falls face first onto the cement. Danzoâs breathing grows heavy, and you can still hear the woman struggling for her own breaths. Sasuke is satisfied. There is no guilt or remorse.Â
Danzo turns and starts to lightly jog away, his desperation clear. He had no other options, and was cornered once more. Sasuke starts to calmly walk after him, his dark eyes glowering with a crazed desire. He smirks, walking Danzo down. Madara takes you with him as he jumps to the bridge, cutting off his escape.Â
âDanzo..Iâm taking Shisuiâs eye.â He says with finality. Sasuke reflects on the night he found out about Shisui, the pain he felt for you. He couldnât have imagined what it would be like to lose Itachi yet, and if you felt even a fraction of the way he did now, you deserve this retribution tenfold.Â
Danzo seemed enraged. âFor the sake of the ninja worldâŠfor the sake of the Hidden LeafâŠI will not let you three live!â He declares, a black seal appearing on his body.Â
âSasuke! Get away from Danzo!â Madara yells, dissolving into the ground below. You and Sasuke jump into the air.
You shake your head. âNo! Shisuiâs eye!â You remind, eyes fixed on the man destroying himself just to keep you from having it. The two of you land on the Samurai Bridge, close to Karinâs body. Thereâs not any time to process what happened, and you think youâre hallucinating when you see Sakura walking toward you two.Â
She pleads with Sasuke to allow her to join your team, claiming she, too, has defected. You immediately know sheâs lying. If another team seven member left the village, every available ninja in Konoha would be after her. And, as sweet and talented in medical nin as she was, she was not gifted in evasion or lying.Â
Sasuke seemed to play her game, telling her she could replace Karin on their squad if she killed her. You could see the terror flashing in her eyes. She wouldnât do it. Karin groaned in obvious agony, watching all three of you. As Sakura approaches her, you share a glance with Sasuke. You shake your head, eyes flickering over to the other women briefly. He nods, agreeing with you. He lights his hand with what little chakra he has left, but before it goes anywhere, Kakashi flies onto the bridge, swooping the pink-haired woman away.
Your heart stops, your mind goes blank even. Kakashi? You really must be hallucinating now. You watched him die, how on earth is he standing before you? Is this a joke, no, no, a cruel prank. He sets her down, instructing her to take Karin somewhere else, if you hear him correctly.Â
After that, youâre not really sure what happens or whatâs being said. You can hear the cold and biting tone in Sasukeâs voice. Heâs really going off the rails, heâs getting more cruel and more dark. You knew that was Itachiâs goal for the most part, but only to drive this revenge and keep the name of the Uchiha respected. But he had killed the most prominent motivator behind the massacre, shouldnât he feel better? KakashiâŠit really is him. Itâs his voice, all the body language is the same. A strange noise comes out of your mouth and youâre embarrassed when your knees buckle.Â
Kakashi is relieved to see you unharmed and relatively safe. He sees the myriad of emotions on your face, and for a moment he wants to pause all of this arguing to give you a hug and tell you that it is really him. That heâs not angry with you and heâll do anything it takes to keep you safe, even if that includes hurting Sasuke.Â
You hear the battle between them commence, a few ninjutsu here and there until Sasuke summons his Susanoâo. You know no matter how this ends, youâll be heartbroken for a time. You wanted revenge too, but even you could admit that you were worried for Sasuke once again. And if Sasuke hurt Kakashi in any permanent way, you would hold that against him. His Susanoâo falters, running on fumes of chakra at this point. He taps you in.Â
âY/N, take care of this pretender!â He demands, enraged, that Kakashi has the sharingan and the chakra control to use it as a non-Uchiha.Â
But you donât move. You know you canât, you could never even imagine it. Deep down, Sasuke knows this too. Thatâs why he gives you such an order in the first place. Heâs losing himself, he can feel that. All his love and care for you has been devoured by this Amaterasu of emotion. The only thing he can comprehend is hatred, is the need for crushing anyone and anything thatâs hurt him. Heâs jealous and angry at you, too, for having someone care about you like Kakashi does. You didnât have to experience everything on your own like he did. Once, he wanted you to get revenge too. He wanted your hatred to burn and consume you just as it had him. But yours wasnât strong enough. No, because you had weaknesses. Your loyalty to him could be blinded by your devotion to the man who raised you. Maybe at some point he had appreciated this about you. Part of him may even be glad that you had a family. But when you denied him the first time he was baffled. He knew you had to care for him more than that, right? But here you sit, on your hands and knees in the river, denying him again. Uchihas feel every emotion deeply, and you love him. You have always loved him, so how dare you choose Kakashi right now? It was your chance to prove that you were indeed strong.Â
Kakashi was going to be a few seconds too late. Sasuke moved toward you with the intent to kill this time, and he was stunned. Was he really this close to bringing you back home only to be responsible for your death?
Your eyes widened once you realized that he was coming at you, and then all you felt was a gust of wind and a strong body and chakra wrapped around you. You looked up, arms around the neck of Naruto Uzumaki. Maybe under different circumstances you would smile at him. But now, your emotions are so conflicted. Even when Naruto smiles warmly down at you and sets you back on your wobbly feet, you donât know what to say. Because really, you are just as bad as Sasuke. You let him attack Karin and you would have let him kill Sakura on a whim, just because you knew you could. You got revenge, but you were devastated about not retrieving your brotherâs eye. You fed off of Sasukeâs negativity instead of him feeding off of any of your light. You knew there were more targets, but how many innocent people would you have to hurt to finish attaining revenge?
Part of you died again with Kakashi. With every loss, your heart grew smaller and your eyes more powerful. You enjoyed being powerful, but at this costâŠthe price was much too high. It becomes clear to you that the only person that can save Sasuke is himself, and only Naruto can get close enough to him to force this. Kakashiâs hand is on your head, bringing you out of your thoughts while Naruto and Sasuke exchange words and promises. Sasuke wants to attack the Leaf, Naruto swears to defend it to no end. Life was so different just moments ago, but you have to let Sasuke go. Itâs the only way you can ever hope to mend what you have, if that time ever comes. Kakashiâs hand is large, but itâs a welcome reminder of the best thing to come of this: his return.
âAre you alright?â He asks, eyes carefully analyzing you. He knew this must be beyond difficult, as most your life had been, he understands.Â
âI think so.â You reply unsurely. The truth was absolutely not. How could you be okay? You were in the Bingo Books but all you sought was justice, corrupted by the desire toward the end. And now, the only true love youâve ever known would have killed you had Naruto not showed up.Â
Madara and Zetsu show up, trying to de-escalate the situation and take Sasuke away. Zetsu wanted to further the fighting to take you back, and perhaps capture the nine-tails inside Naruto, but he was luckily talked down from that. They disappear, and youâre left looking around at Kakashi and Naruto without a clue in the world what to say.Â
âDonât worry Y/N-chan, Kakashi-Sensei and Old Lady Tsunade will get all of this taken care of! We want you to come home!â Naruto says cheerfully, though you can tell heâs hiding his emotions by distracting himself with yours.Â
You look down at the river beneath you. âIs it really that easy? I..I donât know how I can face anyone..âÂ
Kakashiâs face softens. He knows the feeling. âYouâll do what you have always done before. Youâll train and go on missions and earn back trust over time. It wonât be easy, but itâs nothing you canât manage.âÂ
âPlus weâre always here for you!â Naruto adds, patting you on the shoulder affectionately. âI missed you! I looked everywhere for you Y/NâŠâ He chuckles nervously, clearly not trying to get on your case.
âI know, you got close several times. Iâm sorryâŠI thought that this is what I wanted.âÂ
âItâs alright, really! Donât worry about it, youâre coming back home to the Leaf and now we can train together and weâll be ready to take on Sasuke!â He holds his hand out for you to take, and you do. You squeeze it out of appreciation, and he seems a little lost for a moment. It causes a smile to sneak up on you, he wasnât familiar with acts of affection and it made you wonder why he held his hand out to you at all.Â
âWeâll be ready.â You confirm, heart aching already at the thought of the Last of the Uchiha standing against each other instead of beside. Your smile is weak and itâs easy to tell that youâre still weary, but it means enough to the jinchuriki and your father figure that they both smile softly at you in return.Â
âLetâs go home.â Kakashi hums, relieved to have you in tow. But he felt immense guilt over Sasuke, and what lay ahead for you.Â
Home. You nod, wondering the same. Wondering what home really means, and if life is always this painful.Â
Naruto starts talking about some old story that Jiraiya told him, and youâre grateful that he keeps the journey from being silent.Â
âGaara! I will stay and fight with the Kage!â You proclaim, taking up a spot beside him and aiding Tsunade in his healing.Â
He hums his approval. âGood, your prowess will help us well.â He says honestly, the last time he saw you was at the Kage Summit, and you were not so helpful then. But before that, you helped save him from Sasori and Deidara, and before that, you were kind to him at the chunin exams. Overall, he has more reasons to believe in you than not, and he chooses to trust in you.Â
The Mizukage sprays a lava jutsu all over the place, allowing the Raikage to pull off some lightning style moves.Â
Madara re-emerges from the rubble in a big blue Susanoâo not unlike Sasukeâs. You hum, finishing up Gaaraâs healing to form a Susanoâo of your own. You had been practicing it as far as you really could, stressing yourself out by reliving your different traumas until your summon was perfect. A bright green chakra statue comes together in the sky, your Susanoâo standing directly against Madara Uchihaâs. Madara throws attacks at you, Gaaraâs sand creating a protective barrier around everyone else. You crush the attacks with your hands.Â
âAnother pesky one of my own, is that so?â Madara chuckles deeply, almost admiring your perfect Susanoâo. âItâs too bad Iâll have to kill you, child!âÂ
Gaara covers his Susanoâo with his sand, preparing for his ultimate sand coffin burial. Madara shoots his chakra through, piercing the layer and preparing for another attack. The Mizukage covers the field in mist, obscuring the rinneganâs ability to see. The Raikage takes the opportunity to get through, and you follow his lead to take a shot at Madaraâs Susanoâo too, the sound of chakra against chakra like nails on a chalkboard. You knock him from the being, powering yours down to fight regularly. You punch the ground, creating a physical rift and hopefully some sort of visual one.
The Tsuchikage talks Narutoâs shadow clone into trusting in the five Kageâs abilities, especially with you as added backup. Naruto trusts you too, maybe more easily than you deserved, but his clone sped off and left the six of you to take Madara down.Â
Madara wraps vines around the Tsuchikageâs defense, and you recognize the plant style similar to yours. You grin, you summon your own vines in the variety that would smother out his own, considered more powerful but also more chakra consuming. Your seal appears on your forehead, and youâre ready to consume what youâve had stored for so long.Â
Your vines take out half of his plants, but it's not enough. They start to admit a poisonous pollen, which Tsunade advises everyone to avoid. Everyone jumps in the air, giving Madara an opening to reform his Susanoâo. The commotion of his summons sends everyone flying towards the tree roots heâs created below. He uses a fire style to light the wood on fire, smoke inhalation making you all fall forward, unable to overpower it. The Tsuchikage uses all of his remaining strength to use a metallic jutsu, repelling the flame away.Â
It takes a few minutes, but slowly you all wake, rushing to the Tsuchikageâs aid. Madara reveals his addition of Hashiramaâs powers to his own, taking the time to insult Lady Tsunadeâs powers in comparison to her grandfatherâs. He even calls her a weak woman, to which your promise he will pay for.Â
âAlright itâs time for you to stop talking!â You grit your teeth, watching Tsuandeâs 100 healings jutsu seal wraps around her body, and her punch is enough to actually physically crack Madaraâs Susanoâo. Youâre mystified by this, and proud of one of your teachers for defending her abilities. Hashirama was a God amongst men, there is no comparison to be made except for maybe Naruto. The Mizukage has to jump in to extinguish another bout of fire style. Her water dragon comes next, allowing Tsunade and the Raikage to score hits on the chakra shield. Their punches land, cracking the usually impenetrable guard and taking Madara right out of it.Â
âIâll admit it. Undoubtedly you are not weak woman. However, Hashirama, I donât know exactly what it is youâve left to all your followers. But this falls short of your abilities. If youâre going to let your underlings take over, you should have taught them how to resurrect you. The only thing that is ever truly passed down, of course, is hatred.â He says smugly, arms folded over his chest.Â
Tsunade flies at him. Landing a punch to his chest. The Raikage calls for Gaara, letting him enact his plan. He captures Madara in a sand pyramid, and you jump over to land with Tsunade.Â
âWay to go!â You cheer, just as a beam of chakra erupts from the tree root youâre standing on, shooting right through your mentor. It lifts her into the air, the rest of you staring in shock. Apparently Gaara sealed a wood style clone instead of the real Madara. Tsunade yells out, a guttural mix of frustration, anger, and the desire to win. She âchaâsâ the chakra beam impaling her, and this time even Madara is surprised. She holds onto the other end of the tentacle-esque formation, slamming it to the ground below her. Madara sends her flying into a pile of rocks, even more shocked when she pushes them aside and stands ready to fight again.Â
The Tsuchikage tries an attack from behind while Tsuande aims one at his front, but Madara is able to deflect. He summons five clones for every one of you, taunting you with the option for them to use Susanoâo. Yours forms again, ready to take on most of the clones yourself. Your Susanoâo fights with two samurai blades, slashing through several members of Madaraâs army. One still hits the Mizukage, sending her flying back as well as Gaara when he tries to intervene. Lady Tsunade and the Raikage land a few shots on their own shadow clones, and then Madara decides to pick the Raikage out of the crowd. He puts him under a genjutsu, and the Tsuchikageâs summon is the only thing that saves the formerâs life.Â
The Five Kage plus you stand aligned, ready for what came next. You knew the clones were going to be an issue, though Madara seemed less sure about them now that your Susanoâo stands tall too.Â
The Tsuchikage sends out a particle style jutsu, absorbing the rest of the clones and forcing Madara into his perfect Susanoâo. You force yours to his level, knowing that if you donât, all five Kage will die. Madara hits the cliff, sending everyone but your shielded form back a few hundred yards. His Susanoâo walks up to yours. You slash at him, but heâs quick. He lands a hit on your chakra form, making you take a couple steps backward. You block his next attack with one sword, using your other to stab through. For a moment, you believe your attack is what causes him to drop from his Susanoâo, but he declares that something is wrong with the jutsu heâs been using.Â
You grin, knowing that if you can continue to hold him off, you may overpower him simply from your chakra stores. He obviously has virtually hundreds of years of fighting experience and Hashirama Senju was his opponent, but still, you tell yourself that your power compares to no one else, not even your brother.Â
âIt appears that the reanimation jutsu has been released.â He says unbothered, though you feel like itâs a ruse. You drop from your Susanoâo in favor of your right eyeâs Mangekyou ability, Subete o Mamoru. It allows you to project your genjutsu onto everyone else, giving you the opportunity to give the Five Kage your delayed sense.Â
Madara barrels toward you, and the only person you canât protect is Lady Tsunade, who barrels ahead to meet him. You watch her stutter mid-air, her seal must have worn off. The Raikage jumps to catch her, but sheâs gently placed down on a tree root before anyone can actually make it to her. Youâre all confused, as she seemed to have passed out in the air. When she comes mentally back, she seems re-energized, claiming she got to see an old friend. It must have been the reanimated souls making it back, someone came to see her. You wondered if it was Dan, or her brother, or even Jiraiya.Â
Madara claims that she will see him then again soon, releasing the jutsu. He voices his desire to go for Naruto instead, which you vehemently protest.Â
âEven if we canât stop him, we canât just let him get to Naruto!â You proclaim, arguing with the Kage of the Villages. Youâre not sure what happens next, all you see is the ground beneath you growing closer dangerously fast.Â
Itâs Kakashi that shakes you awake. The sun is hanging in the sky, things are mostly quiet other than a low rumble of a few people talking here and there. His eyes look at you with worry, but your gentle smile puts him at ease. You were mostly unharmed, just a few scrapes and bruises here and there. You fought valiantly and stood toe-to-toe with Madara. He pats your head.Â
âIs it over?â You ask, looking around at the immeasurable damage done.Â
He nods slowly. The war is certainly over, but Naruto and Sasuke were standing against each other for the final time.Â
âWhat is it?â You ask cautiously, able to read that there was more to know. Your heart drops, and you fear that youâve lost your friends.Â
âNaruto and Sasuke are fighting in the valley.â He states, watching your expression shift. You didnât even know Sasuke had shown up, and you immediately feared that he was fighting with the other Uchiha.Â
âSasuke? DidâŠheââ
âNo, he fought for the LeafâŠhe needs to fight Naruto a final time, I think. To fully put this to bed.â Kakashi explains calmly, lifting you into his arms to take you and Sakura to the scene. He lets the two of you heal each other, silently. There was a quiet understanding that you had between each other, and you were okay with that.Â
When you get to the valley though, all the fighting is done. The two boys lay almost lifeless on the rock, missing an arm and bleeding out. Sakura runs over the rock to Naruto, and you find yourself automatically moving the same way, sitting by Sasukeâs side with a pained smile.Â
Sakura is in tears, healing Naruto and looking between the two of them in wonder.
You hold your hand over Sasukeâs wound, and the look in his eyes is heartbreaking. His other hand closes around your wrist, pushing your hand away.Â
âI donât deserve it.â He says, seemingly realizing the mistakes heâs made all at once. As he looks at you, someone who had every right to turn out just like him, but someone who was so much better. You were kind and forgiving and full of love for other people, and it hurt him to look at your brightness. Especially when he almost smothered it out, almost killed the person he cares most for simply out of anger.Â
You peel his hand off of yours, pooling your chakra to heal the wound. âYou deserve to live, Sasuke.âÂ
âI hurt you. Iâm sorry, you didnât do anything to deserve that.â His voice is thick and shaky, and you know heâs fighting tears.Â
You rest your other hand on his face. âApology accepted. The world doesnât work off of who deserves what, Sasuke. We can only do that for each other, from now on. Iâll give you what you deserve if you can do that for me.âÂ
He nods, watching you stop his bleeding and bandage the nub that used to be his right arm. Youâre beat up, and he wonders who you were fighting with and against in the war. He wonders how you can forgive him so easily and touch him so tenderly after everything heâs put you through, all the back and forth and the mistreatment and the danger. He can tell by the softness of your features, the gentle smile playing at your lips and the life that shines in your eyes, you arenât upset. You meant what you said. He feels another emotion, one heâs felt in short bursts before, but this time itâs overwhelming. Anger and hatred burned from the inside, turning everything to blisters and scars. But what he feels as he looks at you, it soothes. Itâs a rush of cool water relieving all his burns, stronger than the gusting winds of his doubt. He knows it will be alright, for the first time. He knows he will do whatever it takes to give you what you deserve, itâs the least he can do, so heâll do even more than that.Â
Heâll make it up to you, or spend his life trying.Â
Kakashi was chosen as the Sixth Hokage, much to your enjoyment. You knew the job would keep him on his toes, but you couldnât imagine anyone better for it. He pardons Sasuke for his crimes, citing his war effort and even Itachiâs work to protect the Leaf as the reasons why.Â
Itachi and Shisui are officially commemorated as Heroes of the Leaf. It warms your heart to know that this came from Sasukeâs journey. Just like you had hoped, Naruto forced him to save himself and understand his actions.Â
In an effort to continue making up for his transgressions, he vows to search the hidden villages for any more Kaguya-level threats to keep the Leaf safe for as long as he lives. Itachi would be proud. Sasuke cites you as the biggest reason he was able to come back to himself, the way you stood strong was inspiring. A true example of the honor, strength, and integrity of being an Uchiha.Â
It has only been a few months, but the two of you have become inseparable. All is right in the world, the Last of the Uchiha stand side by side wherever you see them. That doesnât change even as he gets ready to set out on this mission, your journey unarguably bound with his. He knew you would come with him, but part of him worried that you would change your mind. He worried that you would realize that you were better than him, that he had done unforgivable things, he broke his promise. He swore he would never hurt you yet thatâs all heâs ever done.Â
So how can you look at him so happily, bouncing up to your fellow Uchiha with a bright smile and a bag hanging off your shoulder, no doubt packed for the trip. How can you leave Kakashi behind in favor of him, the man who almost killed you? The warmth in your heart sparks life in him, determined to take your forgiveness and make the most of it. You look as magical as you usually do, your Uchiha-crested shirt form-fitting to your womanly figure. You took the comfortable and utilizable route of shorts, knowing that you would be active. Your cloak is snapped above your chest, the purple cape flapping in the breeze. And that damned purple headband keeps your dark hair out of your shining and love-filled face.Â
You love him, he realizes again. Once, it upset him. He felt entitled to your love without even really knowing what it meant. He thought a womanâs love was pure devotion, that it was something mindless and just another facet of life. From his earliest ages, he remembers assuming heâd marry you. He remembers not being bothered by the idea, but didnât think you were much like a wife when you were little. His mom was quiet and sweet, and you were a yelling demon of a girl. His mom always made good dinners and always made him happy when he cried,so thatâs what thought love meant. And he could live without a good dinner or and he doesnât cry often enough to need someone to cheer him up.Â
Thatâs what he used to believe, until now. Now that heâs watching you carefully pack onigiri in a small box, rambling on about Shikamaru and Temariâs wedding that would happen while you two were gone, it all makes so much sense. The unfathomable care and worry he had for you that night, grieving your loss as a child, wondering if he would ever see you again. The jealousy of watching you become close with Naruto and Shikamaru, the deep need to have you by his side at his lowest mental point, itâs because he loves you too, and it means so much more than he thought.Â
You fill the emptiness in him with your smile, the sound of your laugh makes his heart beat funny but he likes it. If anything happens to you, he fears what he truly would become then. He decides to push that out of his mind, knowing he would never allow that. You would be safer than youâve ever been, because he would die for you.Â
Your eyes narrow at him. You could tell by the look in his eyes that he wasnât listening, he was lost in his own head again. You wonder if itâs a good or a bad place, whatever heâs thinking about. You think itâs pleasant, from the small grin betraying him. His hair ruffled slightly with the breeze, his dark cape doing the same. He stood tall, seemingly growing more even over the past few months. He traded his purple clothes for black, knowing you would keep the purple alive. His robes were simple, but you thought he would get too warm on the long road ahead.Â
Over the past few months, the two of you had grown closer, however that was possible. It seemed easier now, like after your traumas you were able to let things flow more freely. Unfortunately, neither of you were magically gifted with the ability of affection all of a sudden, though you were each trying to work up the nerve to display your true emotions in a more bold way. So far, the furthest confirmation you had received from him was the green paper heart tucked still in the pocket of your bag, and the most he had from you was your utter stoppage of Karin every time she was around. It was clear how much you meant to each other, and you were able to say as much. You usually stayed with him in his old apartment, which made conversations flow unfiltered and with plenty of wonder from you, gazing at the nearly barren place.Â
Heâs been here since you were kids, and it didnât have any personal decoration or flare to it. It barely looked lived in, though you imagine his desertion at 12 had a lot to do with that. Yet still, it was a time capsule of comparison. You had six years of learning to be a person with Kakashi, he had six years of beige walls and a ticking clock on the wall. Nothing but his own mind to keep him busy, his emotions and need to get stronger motivating him to train hard. You marveled at the dust settled over everything, opening the window to air the apartment out. You two had spent that afternoon cleaning the entire place, and you displayed a few pictures and some of the origami he made you to decorate. He smiled at the gesture, a picture of the two of you as rogue nin framed. It made him want to chuckle, so he did, though it sounded strange.
âWhat, you donât like it?â You pouted, moving to grab it back. He quickly stopped you by stepping in between the picture and origami setup on the dresser and your lunging form.Â
âItâs just an interesting picture, thatâs all. I do suppose thatâs the only one you have, though.â He admitted with a shrug, a tiny smile on his lips. He was amused by the pouting and by the effort to make his apartment seem more like a home despite the fact you two would be leaving it to dust over again in a few months anyway. âI like it.â
You arched a brow. âAre you lying?âÂ
âNo. I donât get the point of decorating when weâll be leaving again, but I think itâs nice of you to worry about things like that.â He says, and you look at him critically, deciding he was telling the truth.Â
âBecause itâs still yours. It makes me a little sad to think about tiny Sasuke growing up here. I guess I canât undo that, of course, but..I can make the future better.â You say, pouting again at the idea.Â
He smiled and nodded. He definitely agreed, you were just about the only thing that could make him better.Â
So now that you two are ready to set out, he wonders if he has the nerve to push things just a little further with you. You set all his paper origami creations on his table that day a couple of months ago, all except the most important one.Â
âHey, did you keep the..paper heart-thing I made you..?â He asks just as you were about to ask if he was listening. So thatâs what he was thinking about. The question and his awkwardness makes your heart quicken.Â
You nod. âYeah, itâs right here.â You reply, undoing the button on your bag so you can pull it from the pocket to show him.Â
He smiles softly when he sees it, and almost instinctively looks away. âWhy did you keep it, instead of putting it up in my apartment?â
âBecause this one means something else, I thought.â You say back, quicker in response than he anticipated. Thereâs a knowing tone to your voice, like you understand what heâs working towards and are letting him have the time to do it.Â
âIt does.â He confirms, and it wasnât as hard as he expected. He holds his hand out to you again, like he did in the cave months earlier, but instead of letting you grab it, he looks down at it like he wasnât sure how to accomplish what he wanted. He wasnât sure how to simply express his affection for you other than what you did to him after the war. He tilts his hand a little and rests it on your cheek instead. When you touched him like this it was gentle and sweet, he could feel your forgiveness. He hoped you could feel his love for you.
âI love you too.â You hum, sinking into the touch. He could feel your cheek move for your soft smile. Your fingers close around his wrist, The two of you just looking at each other. There was nothing else to say, out loud anyway. His heart softened at you words, you did know him so well.
Time heals most wounds, and so does working missions with your partner. It felt like the two of you versus the world, in a good way. The way you had always imagined it would feel. The wide open sky welcomes you both, stars lighting the way of your walk. It had been another few months since the two of you left the Leaf to start exploring threats, and since you confessed your previously unspoken love for one another. Not much had changed since then, other than the two of you holding hands as you talked about all kinds of different things and explored the hidden villages.Â
The beautiful night sky just served to highlight your beauty, in the eyes of Sasuke. It really was a miracle that you didnât fall for someone else while he was gone, truly the Last Princess. Uchiha were unusually beautiful, but you were angelically so. Not to even factor in your immense power and perfect persona. He wasnât completely sure anyone deserved to be with you. He was lucky you gave him that chance.Â
âWe should rest here for a while.â He says in that ever calm voice of his. You hum your agreement and begin to set up a little pallet bed for each of you. He came over to help set up his own, remembering something you had said a few months ago. âHm. Isnât Shikamaru and Temariâs wedding today?âÂ
You gasp and nod, pilfering through your bag for a scroll to write them a letter. âYes! I completely forgot, thank you for reminding me!â You say, taking out the paper and bearing down on the ground with your ink pot.Â
âSilly girl.â Sasuke mused, summoning two crows. âThis will be faster, and theyâll show clones of us. What would you like to say?â
You stand back up, pleasantly surprised that he would send chakra birds to deliver your message faster. âOf course, of course, uh letâs see.âÂ
You stare off at the stars above you, biting your lip. Maybe everything really was worth it, if in the end he gets to keep you. Youâre impossibly seductive, even when youâre simply thinking of what to tell your good friends.
âCongratulations, Shikamaru and Temari! Iâve known that this is how your story goes since we were chunin, the chemistry you two have is so amazing! I love you two so much and so does Sasuke!! Weâre sending you a wedding gift when we get to the next village so be on the lookout for that. Canât wait to see you both soon! Sasuke, say bye!â You say, cheerful and bouncy. He canât help himself, everything in his body aches to grab you in his arm and kiss you, uncouth as it may be. So he does. He steps forward and wraps his left arm around your waist, tugging you close.. You look up at him when he does this, only surprise and excitement on your face as your hands brace yourself on his chest, waiting expectantly. He brings his hand up to hold your face in the way he likes so much, thumb gently stroking over your cheekbone. He leans down, trusting his body to know what to do. Your lips meet his, soft and warm. He finds that he does know what to do, mouth moving over yours easily. You feel him relax, hands still balled up in his clothes. His body is tingling, your breath giving him life and motivating him to keep going on. Only when heâs breathless does he pull away, resting his forehead on yours. His heart races but in a comforting way. Like he would spend the rest of his life chasing that feeling, of your hands and lips on him and no one else.Â
His eyes widen when he realizes that the chakra crows would replay the scene, and you seemingly understand this at the same time. You giggle and shake your head, turning back to them. âHe gets a little excited, sorry about that you guys.âÂ
He smiles sheepishly, waving towards the birds. âUm, yes, I apologize. Congratulations on your marriage,â He weaves the sign to send the birds, looking horribly embarrassed when he turns back to you.Â
You canât help but laugh again, giving him a shorter but just as sweet kiss. âWell now the Leaf gets to commemorate our first kiss!âÂ
The journey involves a few firsts for the young couple. You discover that you have an insane fighting chemistry, able to read each otherâs moves and capitalize. Fighting together feels amazing, like all is right in the world. You train and keep your abilities sharp together, eat every meal by each otherâs side.Â
Youâve been traveling for a little over three years, marked by your eighteenth birthday. Sasuke had already celebrated this milestone earlier in the year, but he wanted to make it more of a spectacle for you, if that can be believed. He visited a shop and had cookies made, and even sacrificed some of the money to spend the night in an inn. It still wasnât nearly what you deserved, but he wanted you to feel loved by him. Heâs not stupid, he knows heâs not very romantic verbally, so he had to rely on his actions to help.Â
You, of course, nearly sob at the gesture. It was impossibly sweet, and it got his message across perfectly.Â
âHappy birthday, Y/N.â He says after showing you the room you two would rest in for the night. You were taken with the space, it was bigger than Kakashiâs apartment, and it was decorated beautifully. The Mist definitely knew how to leisure.Â
âSasukeâŠthis is great!â You beam, throwing your arms around his neck. âI love you!âÂ
âI love you. Donât waste the cookies.â He says, returning your hug. He relished the way your body felt pressed against his, the way you tucked your face into his neck and the way your hands rubbed circles into his shoulder blades. Â
You giggle at the sentiment, releasing him in favor of trying your birthday cookies.Â
That night, you celebrate another first time, gifting all of yourselves to each other and demonstrating all your love.Â
âI think we should be married.â He says almost absentmindedly, the two of you walking by some official-looking building in the Stone.Â
âOh, is that so?â You reply with a short hum, wondering if he was being serious. Though, admittedly, heâs not the type to joke around.Â
He hums in reply. âYes. Weâve loved each other our whole lives, I think itâs safe to get marriedâŠI know that ladies enjoy things like that.â He adds, as if he hasnât been daydreaming about marrying you since you sent chakra crows to celebrate that occasion for friends of yours.Â
You arch your brow. âJust ladies, hm?â You tease with a gentle yet mischievous smile.Â
âNot just, IâŠI believe you deserve to be a wife and not a girlfriend. That title undermines your importance to me.â He says, cheeks turning red despite your closeness.
You squeeze his hand. âWell, is that your way of proposing, Sasuke?â You whisper, almost afraid of looking up at him for his answer.Â
He squeezes back. âYes.â
âThen I say yes.âÂ
He stops walking and looks at you, a soft smile on his face. He holds your cheek and gives you a loving kiss. It says what he cannot find the words to, that youâve made him the happiest man with that answer, that he wants to have your marriage in order immediately.Â
âWould you like to have it done here, in the Stone?â You ask, looking over the village you were visiting. To be transparent, you didnât much care where you were married and you didnât care for a big party in an event. You would be more than happy to marry Sasuke quietly in the Hidden Stone and have the legal work forwarded to Kakashi to announce the celebration.Â
âI would like that, dear Y/N.âÂ
And so thatâs how it went, you visited the officials in the Hidden Stone and had them perform a short and simple wedding ceremony. You both remained in your regular shinobi clothes, only the giddiness on your face revealed the importance of the situation.Â
You promised to love and support each other always, be honest and loyal forever, and to respect and honor each other above all else. When the village official pronounces you man and wife, you whoop and holler just to aggravate your new husband. He flusters, the only other person in attendance was the officiant, and even he chuckles at the scene.Â
âWell go ahead, kids, make it official and kiss!â The old man cheers, his day made by the charm of young love.Â
You donât have to be told twice, leaning in to each other for a lengthy union. His lips were always a tad icy, giving you goosebumps every time. Everything else about him was warm, his hand on your face and the care he took in kissing you. Like usual, he rests his forehead against yours. This time his smile is hard to miss.Â
âMy lovely wife.â He muses, proud of himself for making the moves. He wishes Itachi were here to see him, heâs sure he would be proud of his choice of bride. He hopes that Shisui would be happy to see his little sister married to him. This was a long time in the making, fated to the highest degree. You were practically made for each other, and now you two will make a new Uchiha name.Â
You two continue your missions as husband and wife, the last of the Uchiha united. Another year passes without incident. You miss Kakashi and the rest of your friends, getting word from Gaara in the Sand that Naruto and Hinata were married shortly after Sakura and Rock Lee. It makes you happy to know that all of your classmates were safe and enjoying their lives. Gaara congratulated you two on your marriage, just passing your first anniversary. He graciously offers for Sasuke and yourself to stay in the Sand for around a month or two, in order to rest and help them with some recurring invaders.Â
The two of you agree to stay, being put up in a nicely sized inn room for the duration of your rest. The Inn reminds you of your birthday treat, and you two canât help but recreate that night several times over the course of the next two months.Â
It takes three and a half months to fully absolve Gaara of his concerns with the Sand.Â
  There had been a string of violent robberies in the village, yet it seemed like the perpetrators were traveling into the village each time. It ended up being a team of rogue nin from another village, and you were able to take them into custody easily. Later that day, when debriefing Gaara on the situation, you nearly fainted. You were hit with a bout of lightheadedness and felt yourself fall into the wall that is your husband.Â
One of the Sand shinobi brought you a chair and Sasuke helped lower you into it. Gaara hummed in concern. âAre you alright, Y/N? Should I send for the medical team?â He asks Sasuke, who looks to you.Â
You wave off their concerns with a hum. âIâm probably just a little dehydrated, I can check.â You say in an effort to ease their worries. Your palm is covered in your chakra, allowing you to scan your body for any ailment. You place your hand over your kidneys, expecting to see a little damage. You were not expecting what you found instead as you gasp dramatically.Â
âWhat is it?â Gaara asks with more concern.Â
Sasuke crouches beside you, taking your free hand in his own.Â
âIâm pregnant.â You say softly, lips parted with shock. The room is quiet for a few moments, Sasuke visibly surprised. His hand squeezes yours tighter.Â
âCongratulations again, you two.â Gaara says with the trace of a smile. âShould I send word, or would you like to keep this between you for now?âÂ
âWe need to make arrangements to go back to the Leaf.â Sasuke replies, his mind made up. You still couldnât quite tell how he was feeling, but you didnât want him to assume you were useless now.Â
âWoah, Sasuke, I donât want to go back home yet. We can wait until Iâm further along! We can get so much more done.â You advocate, anchoring the hold on his hand to make him look at you instead of the Kazekage.
âIâll not have you in harm's way, not now.â He says, effectively dismissing your argument. Anything can happen to you at any time. Youâve just changed his life, the entire way he thinks. He was going to be a fatherâŠ
He couldnât risk anything happening to you on this journey. You were the most important person in the world, the thought of anything happening to you already was unnerving but he selfishly wanted you to come along. But now itâs not just you, you were rebuilding the clan, a job much more important than his. He nods to Gaara, as if to say, ignore her and do what Iâve asked. Gaara nods back.Â
âSasuke, please, donât just banish me!â You pout, still worried that he was upset about this surprise. He turns to face you, his features softer than just a few moments ago.Â
âMy love.â He breathes, holding your face and placing a kiss on your forehead. âIâm not punishing you, I could never carry on if something happened to you and now the child. You wonât ever for a moment be alone if you donât want to be, Kakashi would never forgive me if I didn't send you home. Iâll join you before itâs time, I promise. Itâs my job to protect you.â He reminds, smiling softly. Itâs a mix of emotion, he doesnât want to miss you like that ever again. But he had to make a choice for someone other than himself, for you and whatâs best for you now that youâre giving him the greatest gift a wife can give her husband, especially in this case.Â
You reluctantly sigh. He was right, and you knew it. Part of you knew you wouldnât be able to be a shinobi in the same capacity again, so you wanted to keep fighting to stay.Â
In the end, Sasuke won. Youâve been back in the Leaf for five months, estimating yourself around six and a half months along at this point. You basically moved back in with Kakashi, who spends all of his spare time preparing for his grandchild. All the ladies of the Leaf are thrilled, doting on you as you dote on them. Many of you are pregnant, hoping for another generation of classmates, you all would joke.Â
Hinata and you schemed the same way Sasukeâs and your mother did, planning playdates for children that arenât even here yet. Sasuke was right, you were happier in the village with other women that knew what you were going through and the comfort of Kakashi and Naruto. Sasuke stays by your side in other ways, regularly sending his chakra crow clones to make sure that you and baby are healthy. Being apart this time isnât as hard as it was before, maybe because you know heâll come back this time or maybe because your relationship was much more concrete than it had been in years passed. In any event, you were counting down the days until he came home, just missing your lover.
You were over at Naruto and Hinataâs place when Sasuke came home, and he figured that would be the case based on the amount of times his crows had to track you there instead of his apartment or Kakashiâs. Hinata gets the door when you hear the knock, giggling happily at the visitor and escorting him into the living area. Sasuke hums at the sight of you, letting you jump all over him once youâve realized heâs back.Â
He chuckles at your behavior, kissing your forehead without embarrassment. Naruto and Sasuke exchange pleasantries, you can tell how the men have missed each other and you make a mental note to let them have some time to catch up soon. He comes back to you, resting his hand gently on the small bump youâve formed. He thought pregnancy looked amazing on you, and he wondered how it was possible for you to grow even more beautiful to him.Â
âI missed you.â You hum, resting your hand over his.Â
âI missed you, my love.â He returned, and the sound of his voice makes your baby kick ferociously. You gasp and then giggle, Sasukeâs brow arching in careful confusion. You move his hand to the location of the kicks, and his eyes widen slightly when he feels the sensation of pressure.Â
âThey like the way your voice sounds, I think.â You giggle again, memorizing his shocked look. It was sweet, he was fascinated by it and couldnât believe that he was the cause.Â
âOh, well, be nice to your mother.â He said, a small grin on his face, his hand moving in subconscious circles over your belly. At this moment, everything is perfect. He never imagined a life like this for himself. His friends laugh and are happy to see him, the woman heâs wanted his entire life is at his side and growing his child in the first step to rebuilding their clan.Â
Youâre at peace, knowing the only thing youâre missing now is Kakashi, who was probably still working hard at keeping the village secure. Youâre safe, loved beyond measure, and living the dream. You know your family would be proud of the shinobi and woman you became, and now you can only pass on their memory to the Uchiha you would give life to.Â
âWould you like to go home?â Sasuke asks, and for the first time, you know exactly where home is.

I played 999 recently at @xivu-arath's recommendation, and I had so much fun that (inspired by that one polygon video) I illustrated my liveblog about it!
If you haven't played 999 and you are even a little bit intrigued by a puzzle/mystery visual novel with multiple timelines that all guide you towards wild plot twists...probably don't read the text! 999 is the kind of story that is best experienced with no knowledge besides the basic premise.
Transcript below the cut:
Cormorant: characters in this game really just say shit like "have you heard the story about the crystallization of glycerin?"
as a matter of fact i haven't, june, please enlighten me
Storm: "I know we're stuck in a freezer but. let's talk about weird mythical science!"
Cormorant: it's also killing me that junpei is dressed like marty mcfly and isn't sharing any of his jackets
-----
Cormorant: this game is leading me to arrive at mathematical concepts on my own. what the heck
Storm: kshgushhsg
I take it you're having a good time then
Cormorant: trying to check lotus's work and it turns out that no matter what group i arrange to take through a door, the people left behind will always have the same digital root
so to get through door 7 with snake missing, i could either send a group with sum 16 (junpei, ace, clover, and june) or with sum 25 (clover, june, seven, and lotus), but it doesn't matter because the remainder always have root 9 and can't get through doors 3 or 8! wild!
Storm: yeah the numbers and which doors end up barred to you is so cleverly deliberate
-----
Cormorant: i'm glad i finally checked what novel mode meant, because this is way more fun
Santa cocked his head to one side, like an inquisitive bird, and looked at them.
After several long moments, during which it became apparent that Santa had no idea what the cards meant, June took pity on him.
i'll have to go back and redo the beginning after i get to the first ending
Storm: oh yeah! as I recall that was done differently when it was originally a dual screen game... but it's much better when in novel style. gimme all the descriptions
-----
Cormorant: I had a long day of sitting though presentations and so I entertained myself by calculating digital roots
I discovered that adding 9 or any multiple of 9 to a number has no effect on the digital root, which is awfully interesting bc I got to the part where snake gets killed. Assuming door 3 was opened with 12 and not 21, the options are 7+3 (motive?), 6+4 (theyâd both have to be REALLY good actors), or 9+1. And if bracelets work without a body attached, and if ace picked it up in door 5âŠ
That would be a really useful tool to get around the 3-person minimum without altering the digital root
Iâm also very intrigued by the theory that zero is also in the game but I donât know what to do with that yet
Storm: forlornly having to keep myself from saying literally anything
Cormorant: Understandable, please donât give me any hints! Iâm just calling shots for the joy of being wrong
-----
Cormorant: and how do you know that, my traitorous friend?
Santa: âThe RED doesnât need a person, you know.â
Santa: âAll I need is the bracelet.â
-----
Cormorant: yâknow what i think heâs bluffing. he does need June specifically and thatâs why he refused to consider leaving her when they first found door 9. if all he needed was a hostage, he could have grabbed junpei and forced ace to come along, and then he would be dealing with two people under duress instead of three
i peeked at a guide and apparently i found the ending adjacent to the true ending(?) first, oh well. time to see the others!
santa: i said i don't want to leave seven alone
me: bud you can't do a heroic sacrifice too, it'll mess up all the math
reader, he was not doing a heroic sacrifice
-----
Storm: got any character opinions or theories to share so far?
Cormorant: hmm Iâve got soft spots for santa and lotus maybe just because they were in the first group I went with. I like that the game makes a point of showing that lotus is quick with the math/technical knowledge. I warmed up to clover and seven more than I expected to! I have no evidence to mistrust aceâŠ.but I donât trust him
Snake died before I before I could say two words to him
OrâŠdidnât. Forgot clover said he didnât
I got info about the previous experiments from clover and I wonder if weâre likeâŠreenacting the past somehow? Experiencing morphogenetic resonance with the last voyage?
Again no evidence i just wonder where the pseudoscience is going
Storm: santa was so my type as soon as I started playing that I just picked all rooms with him on my first run skugrhsghu
Cormorant: AHAHA that makes me feel better about going âyeahhh door 4 I like the cut of this guyâs jibâ
-----
Cormorant: âthe bracelet comes off when your heart rate reaches zeroâ interesting then that weâve brought up cryostasis
-----
Cormorant: i simply don't trust him not to have a spare bracelet in his pocket!!!
They climbed into the elevator and Junpei listened to it creak and rattle its way to the bottom deck. Only Junpei, Ace, and Lotus were left.
As the elevator rumbled out of sight, Ace spoke.
Ace: âLotus, would you be so kind as to go with me?â
Cormorant: âbad endâ YEAH IâLL SAY
Storm: lkksghr yeah there's a few of those!
Cormorant: santa was really quick to declare that he, june, and seven needed to go with clover. waht's his game
june and ace could have done it just as easily
Storm: they could have! good catch
maybe he just thinks seven is cooler than ace,
Cormorant: i'm imagining clover taking all her grisly trophies to the door only to find it already engaged, because lotus needed no persuading,
and regarding the true ending requirements, it's also funny that santa's like "i hate this bookmark! get it out of my sight!" and this is a huge help in junpei befriending the girl who's otherwise about to snap
Storm: load bearing bookmark
Cormorant: good thing you threw that tantrum bud or you would have been killed with an axe
-----
Cormorant: in my suspicions i forgot a critical detail, which is that he didn't actually go into the door with the body this time
of course seven has been propping doors open, so it really could have been anybody
-----
Cormorant: "where have these 16 boys and girls disappeared to?" eight for each game and then an experimenter? again with the idea that zero might be in the game...
-----
Cormorant: bad endings complete! on to the normal ending, which hopefully has less of junpei getting stabbed to death
puzzling over who could have done all those murders, especially in the sub ending...or did everyone get killed? clover thinks that snake's death was faked. or did snake do all the murders, since he was the only one unaccounted for?...and then i remember what kind of game i'm playing. can't discount the ice mummy as a suspect.
Storm: you truly cannot ignore the possibility of the ice mummy
-----
Cormorant: ah no, so santa's sister was the kid that died...
i can't figure out the connection between events! why did the last games have the veneer of a science experiment, while this one has no context given? why was it all kids last time, and a random mix of ages this time, with some repeat subjects?
-----
Cormorant: called it!!!!
Junpei: âAce, Guy X, and the 9th Manâs bracelet.â
Junpei: âThat was all you needed to open door [3].â
Cormorant: called it before i even got to an ending ehehe
what iâve been saying!!
Ace: â(9) is a potent ally in the Nonary Game.â
Ace: âAdding (9) to any set of numbers wonât alter the digital root.â
Ace: âAs you can see, (9) is a very useful number here.â
Ace: âWith it, one can go anywhere, with anyone.â
Ace: âIt is, I suppose you could say, a game changer.â
-----
Cormorant: okay, normal ending finished! junpei did not get stabbed but we also didnât resolve muchâŠIâm now thinking that ace with his pocket drugs could have easily played dead in the sub ending
glad to see that snake is okay and hopefully can stay okay in the true ending. where did clover get that riddle, and will she still have it?
0=6. how much do I read into this
still donât understand how we get from here to santa hostage situation. heâs been so consistent about not even considering betraying or abandoning people, so either heâs a better actor than aceâŠor itâs staged. are he and june in cahoots
Storm: augh so close now!! soon I can actually say things
-----
Cormorant: O FUCK
Seven: âSantaâs always in the room with her. Thatâs what youâre saying, isnât it?â
Snake: âYes, thatâs right.â
Clover: âWhat about itâŠ?â
Snake: âThatâs quite simple, really.â
Snake: âYou told me that the first time you came to this roomâŠâ
Snake: ââŠSanta was the first to refuse to leave June behind.â
Snake: âNow, doesnât that beg the question âwhy?â Why would Santa do such a thing?â
Snake: âThe answer is easy.â
Storm: B)
Cormorant: i've been thinking of them as a pair because it makes the math easier! if you've got 3 + 6 + 8, just cross out the ones that make 9 and don't even bother with the addition, your root is 8
Storm: B) B) B)
Cormorant: but god!! they are a pair, do not separate (or the jig is up)
Storm: they hid it soooo well
-----
Cormorant: was wondering when we would see the last cradle guy and oh duh, he was guy X
i did think it was odd that santa phrased it as "i need to leave two of you behind" rather than "i need three of you to come with me," but if he was responsible for everything (most things?), he knew that snake was there, and he was setting up a group that could follow him. excited to see where this is going!
[dreamy sigh] this game is so elegant. what a little puzzle box
Storm: yeah it is, it's just so wonderfully crafted. so little is wasted!
-----
Cormorant: oh boy [akane vision label]
"through the morphic fieldset we were resonant, and we were as one" i don't think i've mentioned it before but i'm constantly pleasantly surprised by the narration in this game. it's not flashy but it's evocative in a way that's really working for me
Storm: this is where the port falls short a bit of the original version... the ds really worked well with this aspect
-----
Cormorant: the number of times i thought "this will be totally wrong but i'll say it to storm anyway"
hello??? [arrow pointing back to the message âI wonder if weâre likeâŠreenacting the past somehow? Experiencing morphogenetic resonance with the last voyage?â]
Storm: Y E A H
Cormorant: laser-guided spitballing
-----
Cormorant: man i said that 4+6 would have to be really good actors if they were the ones that opened door 3...and while they didn't kill snake, i sure underestimated our queen of the stage akane kurashiki
the baseline was NOT where i thought it was
Storm: no one does it like her
#zero escape#999#999 spoilers#'i'm calling shots for the joy of being wrong' <- girl who just correctly identified the murderer#i wanted to include more back-and-forth but i didn't have enough notes and illustrations to pad it. storm still got the last word in hehe#talk tag#THIS is what the waiting until the ink is dry post was about.#i went and got a new kneaded eraser because my old one was fossilized. are you all happy

Making Aegon a r*pist was lazy writing, and it only further demonstrate how the screenwriters aren't able to understand the concept of "grey character".
Do I think it should be completely overlooked? No. Because even if he didn't hurt Helaena he did r*pe Dyana (it was completely useless to his character and it only served the purpose of making him appear more irredeemable, but that's beside the point), and he should be held accountable for it by the viewers at the very least.
Do I also think Aegon's sexual trauma â that would be having to sire children at FUCKING FOURTEEN â was grossly overlooked and glazed over not only by the viewers but also by the screenwriters, and that it could have been represented in a vast variety of more poignant ways (for example, instead of making Aemond an SA victim because yes, they could have given Aegon that kind of relationship with the madame and dive deeper on how he seeks the love he doesn't receive from his family elsewhere)? Do I also think the screenwriters treated Aegon unjustly just because they are not capable of handling a male character with such deep, complex scars that cannot be fully explained in an eight-episodes-long series, and have therefore decided to butcher him because they prioritized hype instead of delivering an actual good product to the public?
Yes. Yes to all of that. As a mainly TB fan I felt myself being forced into my faction, because "who would support a r*pist?", and I came to find unjust how unreasonable this argument is: Daemon and Viserys are r*pists too, with the former literally asking young virgins be set aside for him in brothels and the latter being seen forcing himself on Alicent. Neither of them is held nearly as accountable for their misdeeds as Aegon, and to this day I don't understand why.
I agree with everything here in general and will talk a bit about this topic (I like to talk about Aegon, in case someone suddenly didn't notice).
Yes, the show certainly manipulates facts to endear viewers to one character and make them hate another. Almost everyone in this story has done terrible things, but a lot of fans behave as if the incident with Dyana was the worst of them. Well, I don't know, what about those women Daemon slept with in the brothels? Who often didn't want to be there, who were very young, because he preferred virgins. What about that servant who was killed to hide Laenor's escape? What about Rhea, whom Daemon killed in cold blood to marry Rhaenyra? And so on and so forth. And believe me, such planned crimes shock me much more than what the drunken idiot Aegon did without even remembering it later. Once again, did he do a bad thing? Yes. Is he a good person (character)? No. But at least I'm not trying to make him into someone he's not. And yes - Aegon is still an interesting and complex character that I adore. Not a villain and not just a "drunk and r*pist."
The problem is how his actions are presented to the viewer. Our acquaintance with adult Aegon literally begins with this rape scene, this is our first impression of the character. Aegon has eight minutes of screen time in the first season, and three of them are devoted to the discussion of this incident. Plus, they don't give him anything that could justify it. Did Daemon kill his wife? Well, he did it for love. And this is deeply explored, we're forced to sympathize with the character and then we easily forgive him for such an act. Aegon is shown simply as an asshole without any redeeming traits.
Time skips cleverly mask the fact that Aegon and Helaena were teenagers at best when the twins were born. Helaena gave birth to TWO children at such an early age, they became parents against their own will, not being ready for it. It's interesting, it adds depth to the characters, it might explain why Aegon drinks so much - but of course the screenwriters won't show us that.
Again, Aegon's hypersexuality isn't something funny, it's not what makes him an asshole, it's a sign of trauma. He uses it to numb his loneliness. I believe that Aegon literally didn't have the opportunity to feel what love is in any form. His father disliked him and showed it openly. His mother loved him, but she never knew how to express it the way he needed to. He was married to his sister (the tragedy for both of them) and it was a matter of duty, not feelings. At the time of the first season, Aegon is deeply unhappy and this is obvious. I have every reason to believe that his need for physical intimacy is based on the fact that this is the only form of love he can receive. Considering that Aegon is quite smart, I even think that he himself understands how ugly this form is, but there's nothing he can do. During the act, I guess in some unhealthy way it really saves him from loneliness, longing and the need to be loved, but in the end it makes him even more unhappy.
My thought turned out to be a bit messy and it's time for me to shut up, otherwise I'll never finish, but the point is that the show manipulates the audience to create "the right" point of view for them and it's very annoying. And they also don't know how to create deep, controversial characters at all.

How I think the first joint Kenobi-Fett holiday season would go (aka Life Day with the Disaster Lineage):
Luke & Leia: Wreaking destruction after having eaten more sugar in one morning than theyâve consumed in their entire lives.
Anakin and PadmĂ©: Already drunk (itâs 10am)
Dooku: Is the out-of-touch grandparent with moderately problematic political views
Ahsoka: Is the socially aware, somewhat argumentative teenager who ends up getting into a fight with her granddad over politics at dinner, obviously with backup from PadmĂ©. Anakin attempts to play Devilâs advocate so she throws food at his head.
Rex: Is already there for some reason. No one let him in, he just appeared next to Ahsoka. Has matching ugly sweaters with her (very important).
Qui Gon: The weed uncle. Very stoned. Has been stoned for the entire month and will continue to be stoned well into the New Year. Attempts to help Obi Wan in the kitchen. Is maybe the least helpful person of all time.
Yoda: The chill great grandparent. Older than time. Possibly alive when the wheel was invented. Is perfectly happy to sit in an armchair for the entire day. If anyone tries to move him or disturb him, he says something cryptic and nonsensical so everyone assumes he is senile but itâs all a cleverly constructed ruse to get everyone to leave him alone.
Obi Wan: In the kitchen, attempting to cook everything by himself after telling PadmĂ© and Anakin to stay out because they deserve to relax after looking after the twins all year. Periodically goes into the cellar to cry in thirty second bursts before coming back out and trying to get everything together again. Visibly overwhelmed. Insists he is fine. He is not. He barely knows how to boil an egg and now heâs trying to cook for two families.
Cody: Arrives before the rest of his family to warn Obi Wan about the impending chaos his siblings are sure to bring. Sees the mess and snaps into big brother mode. Mobilises his army of siblings to help Obi Wan and has everything done within an hour.

Astrology Observations No.17
*just my opinions, only take what resonates
-Combine your Venus and rising for something you love to do and how you do it. I like to travel somewhere new (Sagittarius Venus) and start completely fresh (Scorpio rising)
A Leo Rising, Libra venus may like to be the center of attention in a new relationship and may be inspired to create with new love; a Cancer Venus, Virgo rising may really decompress by organizing their home; etc
-How come so many comedians have sun conjunct Mercury?? Iâm guessing the charisma you gain when you speak from the placement and also being able to like cleverly convey what you mean. (Also heavy Sag placements bc ofc. But also a lot of Virgo/Gemini/Scorpio placements as well)
-Aquarius suns are more competitive than Leo suns imo. I think when Aqua suns compete they often ride on their intelligence so that ups the stakes for them.
-Leo suns have a very like specific approach you gotta take if youâre gonna critique them though. Theyâre sensitive and they are not going to take criticism from just anyone. They get sensitive about personal experiences over general competition compared to Aquarius suns imo.
-I think out of all the signs either Aquarius or Scorpio suns are the most proud of their sign. (My mom used to compete with me to name Aquarius characters and celebrities and throw Capricorns she didnât like in my face. When I was like 8. It was too much lol)
-I think Leo suns pride typically themselves on pop culture knowledge to some degree (like keeping up with critically acclaimed films and shows)(I think this applies to Leo Asc and moon as well)
-Wherever Pisces is can highlight where you need to take care of your mental health.Pisces moon can indicate being very emotionally affected by your family and general environment. Pisces Venus can indicate being affected by your relationships and friendships. In general Pisces/Neptune means a detachment but also being vulnerable to illusions and energies other than your own.
-Capricorn can show where you need to find the strength to stand up for yourself. Capricorn moons have to defend their emotionality. Capricorn suns have to defend their sense of self. Capricorn Mercury may find themselves in several debates over things they believe in.
-Sagittarius can show where you are attractive to foreigners* (meaning people you travel to/that are outside of your culture) Sag Asc/Sun/Venus or Sun/Venus in the 9th house could point to being charismatic and attracting friends when you travel.
-Chiron hard aspects (conjunct, square, opposition) to moon can make you a very private person
-Saturn in Cancer could indicate trouble with an emotionally unstable father or father figure
-Virgo placements (Sun, Moon, Rising, Mercury, Venus, Mars) donât just like to complain, they need to complain to blow off steam by highlighting all the little inefficiencies of life. Sometimes itâs worse to offer a solution to their complaints (Iâve definitely done this before lol)
-I think Aquarius suns like having unpopular opinions on popular things. Aquarius moons will go for more obscure/underground stuff. Gemini/3rd house moons or 3rd house Jupiter or like Gemini/Virgo mars can go super deep on those topics. (Ex. My Aquarius moon dad showed me indie movies when I was younger but when I showed him and my siblings Everything Everywhere All At Once and called it artsy and didnât understand it lol, but like my ex was a Virgo mars and we would watch 10 movies from an obscure surrealist 60s Japanese director just for kicks.)

LEE JAX lers pomni and rags pleaseee ur fics are amazing
Jax's Downfall
Summary: Jax has played one too many mean pranks, and Pomni wants revenge.
Word Count: 1.8k
Warnings: Rather intense tickles, Jax is an asshole but he gets his just desserts, swearing (haha censored though)
A/N: Jay! Thank you for the wait! And I'm happy to hear that you like my work! I'm sorry you have had to wait so long, but I do hope this one is good. Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jax snickered to himself as he hid in the corner of his room. It was rather early in the Digital Circus today. While everyone was still asleep, Jax had found the key to Pomniâs room. Pomni was relatively new to the circus still, having been only there for a couple days. What kind of person would Jax be if he didnât give the new girl a nice housewarming present, right?
Except the housewarming present may or may not have been a sack full of cockroaches. And maybe Jax knew that Pomni had a fear of cockroaches. Apparently the little jester hated the way they moved.
Jax had also been extra kind and put cleverly made fake cockroaches around as well, so the jester would have a hard time telling which roaches were real, and which were not. Jax giggled to himself as he heard the noises of Pomni stirring awake. He didnât even need to check if his prank had gone to plan, as he heard a hair-raising shriek from behind the door.
âAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!! THEREâS COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE! NO, GET AWAY! EW!â
Jax slammed his hand over his mouth and he snickered as Ragatha raced into Pomniâs room and got her out. Caine popped into view, rubbing his eyes.
âPomni, its most earlyâŠâ Caine complained, but then he saw all the cockroaches and both sets of teeth that also made up his head comically fell open. âOh goodness.â
Ragatha hurried Pomni out of the roach-filled room and consoled her. âHey, hey. Pomni, calm down. I donât know how they got in there. Donât worry, weâll get rid of them all.â
âHey. Bugs matter just as much, you know.â Jax cut in with a drastic eye-roll. Ragatha sent Jax a look. Oh, if looks could kill, Jax would be a pile of bones by now. Her eyes were hateful, as she comforted Pomni.
âJax, what the (HONK!) is wrong with you? Why would you do that to Pomni?!â Ragatha accused. Jax scoffed and held his hands up.
âDonât be blaming me, Ragdoll. I didnât do anything.â
Caine went closer to that door. âWell, Iâll put this right in a jiffy.â the ringleader responded. One simple click of his fingers and these digital bugs, both fake and real, disappeared at one simple snap, making their little chirping noises even as they dissolved into pixels.
âThank you, Caine.â Pomni murmured, even as she pressed closer to Ragatha, the jester refusing to look at her room even as the last roach disappeared. She had woken up to find one of those on her bed. Granted, it was a fake one. But then she looked up and saw real, moving ones, which had caused her initial scream.
âNo problem, Pomni. Well, Iâm off to touch some grass.â Caine excused, the ringleader vanishing with a pop. Jax scoffed and walked by Ragatha, who still sent the lilac bunny a very angry look indeed. He bent down to Pomniâs level, whispering into her ear.
âYou know, Pomni⊠fun fact. Female roaches can lay eggs after like sixty days.â Jax teased, loving Pomniâs whimper of fear as he left. God, he loved messing with her.
Pomni growled once Jax had left. âUgh⊠I hate him so much.â
âSo do I, Pomni. I donât know why heâs the way that he is.â Ragatha said, doing her best to sympathise with the upset jester. Jax was unfortunately like this. Just the other week, he had done a similar prank to Ragatha, only with centipedes, which happened to be Ragathaâs fear. Seems she and Pomni were on quite a similar wavelength in regards to their fears.
âI want to get him back.â Pomni hissed, at her wits end with this stupid rabbit.
Ragatha wasnât sure. Turning the other cheek sounded like a better option, but Jax was the kind of person to never get bored, and his pranks tended to become much more mean if he got a reaction he didnât want, as it was blatantly obvious that because of life in the circus, Jax either had little or no regard of consequence coming to pay its dues to him.
âI want to do that as well. But we donât even know how to get him back.â Ragatha reasoned. But Pomni was dead set on paying the rabbit back, and then some.
âThen we ask Caine. Letâs go.â Pomni said, leaving no room for excuses as the two girls ran off to go find the ringleader.
Caine was outside the tent with Bubble. He was doing what he said, at least. His mismatched eyes were on the lush, digitally-created green grass, and his gloved hand was stroking up and down the green blades, them swaying softly in the wind.
âCaine.â
The ringleader looked up to see Pomni. She looked most irritable, and her arms were crossed.
âPomni, dear. Whatâs wrong?â Caine asked. Pomni sighed, one hand twirling at the stray strands of hair under her hat.
âJax has been playing such horrible pranks. I want to get him back.â Pomni stated, looking at the ringleader, even as he played with the blades of grass idly as he listened to Pomni air out her singular grievance against Jax. Oddly refreshing, considering that the other members must have had a list of grievances against Jax that was about three miles long by now.
âHmm. Well, I suppose there is one way that you could pay Jax his dues. I found out some rather valuable information about Jax, and he doesnât know that I know. Care for me to spill the tea, as it were? Though I donât really have tea. Just a teacup.â Caine rambled, a flowery teacup popping into his hands. Caine pretended to drink tea from it to sell the illusion.
Pomni grinned as she nodded her head. âSpill, Caine. Spill every drop of information.â
Caine chuckled. âWell, Jax is actually rather ticklish. More than he wishes to admit. If you give him a good tickle, he should back off for a little.â
Oh, Caine had just helped Pomni strike a gold mine head-on. She smiled, an evil glint in her eye. âOh, Caine. I donât think you know how happy I am right now. Thank you.â
âYouâre most welcome, my dear. Oh, and Jax canât stand nibbles on his stomach.â Caine added.
Pomni rubbed her hands together, the way a cartoonish villain would. She chuckled lowly as she began to plot with Ragatha.
âWe have our plan. Ragatha, youâre gonna help me.â Pomni said.
âSure. Jax has been more annoying than usual. Iâd like to see him laid out and screaming like a baby while we tickle him to tears.â Ragatha stated, winking her real eye as her button eye focused upon Pomni, content to listen to the jester explain her plan.
Pomni chuckled a little mischievously, as she and Ragatha assumed their places. They waited in Jaxâs room, because Jax had so foolishly left his door unlocked while he went to go wreak havoc on Gangle again.
Gangleâs muffled cries were cut short at the snarky laughter of Jax slowly growing louder as the rabbit walked back to his room and closed his door. Perfect. Ragatha and Pomni took their chance and they both jumped on Jax.
Jax shrieked like a little girl as he was taken to the floor. Ragatha gathered Jaxâs wrists and yanked them sharply above his head as Pomni straddled his waist, and she smirked down at him.
âWhat the (HONK)?! Pomni, get off! You little-!â Jax yelled, trying to struggle, but then Pomni traced Jaxâs underarms. Jax clamped his mouth shut faster than he ever had, trying to swallow down the laughter steadily rising in his chest.
âA little birdie told me you were ticklish, Jaxie-Paxie.â Pomni cooed, the jester never losing that mischievous look.
âJaxie-Paxie? Oh, cohohoHOHOHOME OHOHOHON! P-POHOHOHOHOMNI!!ââ Jax deadpanned, but then his sarcastic remark was cut off by a loud shriek and laughter as Pomni stuck her hands in Jaxâs armpits and started off tickling.
âYes, Jax?â Pomni asked, in a sickly sweet tone that made Jax squirm. But Jax couldnât even say anything, overwhelmed by laughter as he couldnât even wriggle, Ragatha holding him down easily like he weighed nothing.
âPOHOHOMNI, STOHOHOHOP!!â Jax wailed, the rabbitâs legs kicking as he tried to find purchase to escape the jester and her tickles. But there was nowhere to go, and not like Ragatha would let him get very far.
âStop? Aw, but I barely started!â Pomni responded, moving her hands slower than a snailâs pace to Jaxâs stomach, pulling his shirt up.
âWAHAHAHAIT, WAHAHAIT! NOT THERE, POHOHOMNI!â Jax begged. He hated how ticklish he was sometimes, especially when other people found out about it. Well, hate may have been quite a strong word. Like hell he would tell anyone how he really felt about getting tickled, though.
âNot here? But why, Jax?â Pomni asked.
âB-Becahahause no!â Jax lamely responded through his laughter.
But Pomni didnât listen and vibrated her fingers into Jaxâs stomach. Jax had no chance at resisting, as that was his number one tickle spot. He fell into loud, wheezing cackles near-instantly.
âNOOOOOOHOHOHOHO!!! ST-STOHOHOHOP IHIHIHIT! THAHAHAT TIHIHIHICKLES, POHOHOMNI!â
âAww, is the wittle wabbit all ticklish on his tummy-wums? Ohh, poor baby.â Pomni teased, not letting up on her tickles one bit. She grinned, letting Jax see her teeth. âSuch delicious giggles, little bunny-bun. Iâm hungry for laughter. And I think I could go for a snack~â
Pomni dipped her head down and began to softly scrape her teeth against the ticklish skin. Jax screamed and thrashed at the feeling, loud and boisterous laughter leaving him.
âJust give it up, Jax. Let me hear them giggles.â Pomni encouraged, before going right back to nibbling Jaxâs belly, and Ragatha laughed along with Jax. This was the best entertainment Jax was involved in, by far.
Jax screamed and wailed like a baby as his legs kicked out. Pomni was so mean.
âHave you learned your lesson yet?â Ragatha asked. Jax cried out as Pomni was now kneading Jaxâs stomach with her fingers.
âNOHOHOHOHO!!â Jax screamed, but Ragatha tutted from above him.
âYou havenât? Oh, dear. Well, you need another lesson. Pomni, give him some good raspberries.â Ragatha instructed. Jax swore he saw God for a minute.
âNOHOHOHO! DOHOHOHONâT YOU (HONK)ING DARE!â Jax yelled. Once again, Pomni didnât listen as she ducked her head down and her lips met Jaxâs stomach as she inhaled and blew a raspberry right over his bellybutton. Jax shrieked at such a high pitch, that if the circus tent had windows, Ragatha was pretty sure that Jax would have shattered the glass.
And Pomni didnât stop there. She blew smaller raspberries and moved her ticklish little raspberries all over Jaxâs tummy. By the time she had enough, tears were flowing down Jaxâs face as Ragatha finally released his hands. The girls chuckled as they high fived each other. Jax held his stomach with one hand as he pressed the other against his mouth to muffle his remaining giggles.
âDonât you dare prank me like that again.â Pomni said, as she and Ragatha left him to his own devices. Jax watched them go as he flopped back on his bed. Jax made a note in his head even as his exhaustion from such intense tickles took him to a nice nap.
Way more roaches in Pomniâs room next time.
