FFXIV Write2023, Prompt 13: Check.
Senri had a list. A list - when time and circumstances allowed - he was determined to uncheck.
During the years they spent apart and his adventures, when he believed he would  never see his prince again, he often caught himself wondering what would Raha think of the places he visited or the people he met. So, when they settled into a slower rhythm of their lives, with help of his journal, he made a list of things they HAD TO do now that he had his lover all to himself.
Plus their Ancients, but they seemed to enjoy the idea as well.
To start off - going a tad backwards and like he once promised - he took his mate East and alongside him Senri rediscovered Kugane and the Ruby Sea.
With a visit to Kojin and their blessing, they set to explore Shisui of the Violet Tides and other underwater vistas. They spend hours browsing Kugane's market, tasted all manner of food typical to Far East and Senri gleefully bought out whole bathouse for an evening to present his lover other pros of breathing underwater.
Then they went to Doman Enclave and he introduced his lover to Hien, Yugiri and others - while very much missing the sight of disappointment in Doman prince's eyes.
...Raha didn’t. (Senri didn’t exactly understand why during their stay his mate seemed especially possessive and eager toward public displays of affection, but he certainly didn't mind!)
They spent week there, and overall it was likely most joyous trip of his life. He unchecked it off his list, but was quite sure they would go there again - at some point.
Next was Ala Mhigo, and he very much enjoyed their stroll through Royal Mengerie. They spent also a while with the M' tribe and Ananta, both very awed by his lover’s manners and polite disposition. (Senri got to toss some more bombs at M'zhet, and Raha’s amusement was definitely a bonus!)
Ishgard they visited briefly - as he still wasn't very fond neither of the city nor the cold - mostly so he could share his pride in the Restoration efforts in the city's living district. Raha was quite awed to meet Count Fortemps - no less than the older aristocrat was stumped by the tale of the impact his journals had on the doomed world and Senri’s mate return. Aymeric took one look at the redhead and told Senri to keep him - because at least he showed proper manners. And despite Raha’s snickers, he still believed that he had a good reason to pout about that remark for a while!
Less joyful was visiting Haurchefant's grave, somewhat fittingly among the snowstorm. They spent bells there - cuddled up under a thick blanket - and with Raha holding onto him tight as Senri recalled for him all the good memories of his friend. He felt lighter when they left, a smile on his face that he once wasn't able to show a dying man.
They spent also a while upon the Baelsar's Wall, strolling through the Black Shroud, and visiting with Pixies. Stalking bridges of Limsa Lominsa and nearly fighting off the peddlers along Ul’dah's markets. He showed his lover the arena on which he once entertained the crowd, introduced him to 'Lilira' and to the few gladiators who still remembered his days among them. He suffered through their embarrassing anecdotes only because of the obvious and adorable excitement on his lover’s face.
His next favorite, was definitely renting a hut on the beach in Costa del Sol and spending a week doing nothing more than enjoying the sun and each other. Perhaps especially the expression on his mate’s face when he pinned his down on the sand - under bright, starlit skies - and with a grin that wasn't able to express the sheer scope of happiness he felt, Senri whispered,
"Check," and proceeded to take the next item off his list all the way until dawn.

maruna development to 5th stage was triggered when as he was being crushed under the weight of the sins of the universe, future? leez came to relieve him of that burden and he refused. he's development to 4th stage was to block a taraka attack aimed at samphati after harsh training under the pressure that he wouldn't be strong enough to protect those he cared about and all his siblings would die. Maruna developed to 3rd stage after hearing kalavinka had already developed to 3rd stage. So what was maruna's trigger for development? a sense of competition, a desire to protect, pride in being strong, possibly some mix.
Most Nastika after death are sent to the 0th dimension where everything from their name to their soul is torn apart and lost to the universe. But Paradise is also achievable for Nastika though incredibly unlikely as it is for those without sin and as the most powerful beings in the universe any that live long enough will eventually accumulate sins of the bystander just by existing. Yet the audience is not yet aware of exactly what constitutes a sin and what doesn't. we know that if you like gandharva you threaten someone to kill another person and they do so that sin is on them and not you. Characters have repeatedly said that the greatest sin is for a human to love a nastika but we haven't had confirmation from the gods and as we know not all things considered sins by humans are counted as sins by yama who is the one doing the judging. Bad mouthing gods for example is widely considered a sin but yama doesn't count those. Of those we have seen go to paradise there's the human fiendish magician named Shuri and the nastika Jambavan. Jambavan is an interesting case as the only confirmed sura to reach paradise. I find it surprising that she didn't not accumulate any sins of the bystander. She did die in the early universe but that time was also turbulent although on the other hand the corner the yaksha clan were living in seemed peaceful. The other option was that Jambavan's place in paradise was brokered as a deal between ananta and the primevals but i don't think yama would agree to such a deal he is fair and equal to all. This is in contrast to Yaksha who was one of the nicest dudes and actively helped and protected humans dying (in part) to doing so, and who took on a lot of jambavan's ideals but through currygom q&a we know that after death he too was destroyed in the 0th dimension.

In Light Mobius, there is a new group of villains that will be introduced in my stories. My series starts with "What am I?", an induction to Manik and how my universe works. Long story short, Ananta (The God of Creation) and his fellow Gods choose 7 heroes to defeat Oblivion's legion (the God of Corruption). Each hero connects to a God (or chaos emerald). Oblivion in turn chooses 8 mortals to corrupt the mortal realm. Each one represents the worst aspects of mortals (greed, lust, ECT.)
Akar the Aardwolf- Pride
Akar is a scientist that specializes in robotics and dark chaos energy (black magic). He takes great pride in his work, often calling out Eggman for his failures and dedicating his life to prove he was better. Instead of using animals in his machines, he used the souls of the dead, a much more powerful but unstable source of energy. He is loud, arrogant, and loves to brag at every chance he gets. He is grateful to Dante (Their leader) for giving him his opportunity for power but plots to overtake Dante's position as soon as he gains enough power for himself.
Angel the hedgehog- Envy
Angel is Manik's ex-girlfriend and a trusted spy for Dante. She has the ability to manipulate the feeling of envy in her victims and use that to gain power. She often does this by flirting with someone's significant other, wearing the finest clothes and jewels, and being invited to the most prestigious parties held in Mobius, including those held by royalty. With her many aliases, she is able to get close and personal with Prince Manik to try to get as much classified information as possible with her charm and wits.
Jagger the Orca- Greed
Jagger is the most powerful and terrifying crime lord to exist in Mobius. He is feared across every corner of the ocean, known for committing unspeakable acts on anyone who gets in his way. Nothing is invaluable to him, even humans. He is known to snuggle weapons, drugs, Mobian/human lives, and even Chao. He will stop at nothing to gain power and wealth, even if he had to sacrifice his own workers. When he's not using a gun, he has the ability to transform into a dragon-like creature and breath chaos blast out of his mouth.

I was reading your tumblr, specifically the Silver Souls bit, and it made me wonder what, in your opinion, was the hardest primal they fought? Is this at odds with what the members would consider to be the hardest?
As the writer and creator, I have to say their first primal, Ifrit, was the hardest. Because it was their first and they, as a group, hadn't had to deal with something like that before. Despite having been a group for 2 or 3 years prior, they hadn't ever faced a primal. The realisation that some of the others couldn't fight, as not all of the group are echo/WoL blessed. So some sitting out, like Mizu who was the groups second best fighter (Alex being the first, but WoL blessed) or Sera who wasn't a wol, having to let his sister, R'aurora (who was the same age as the twins and autistic savant) go alone. There was also the whole conversation after the fight in regards to those who had been tempered, and had to be put down. Ifrit was a world changer for them and showed the gravity of the crisis at world.
The hardest, according to them, is between Shiva, Susano, and Lakshmi. While every primal is a major player for different cultures and beast tribes, for some reason these three were far more delicate. Shiva was a friend and a delicate religious/political situation with Ishgard and Dragonfolk. Figuring out how to 'defeat' someone without killing someone and balancing two sides of a war was incredibly difficult, especially since some members weren't available at the time. Susano was a big deal for Rornir, being born in Othard, and not completely deflating a growing pride and purpose amongst the people of Othard by destroying a god/primal was a delicate dance. and Susana was very playful and held nothing back, especially because of his own people, Rornir, was fighting. A proof of his people's strength, without totally destroying him in front of the eyes of the growing resistence. Lakshmi was similar is that relations with the Ananta tribe were already strained, given the tribe itself was split and being manipulated. There were a lot of emotions and betrayal with Ala Mhigo and foreigners already and then the group had to come in and find a way to deflate the situation without completely destroying these peoples' faith and religion.
If we mean the most difficult in sheer mechanics probably Leviathan. Alex, their heavy hitter and tank, is deathly afraid of water. (I also have extreme thalassophobia so anytime I got knocked off and sank really put me off) So Alex was pretty useless that fight. R'aurora is their healer but is a little neurodivergent and doesn't think about mechanics quickly so sliding around everywhere really frustrated her. Rornir also found it difficult to keep his footing. Magic grumpy old man, Sorn'daer found it difficult to get spells off and well...he's a little older and rocking waves and salty seaspray on metal ship bits really broke his poor knees. Bastian is the only one who didn't really struggle too much. Mizu would have been the best fighter as a dragoon and basically just an alligator lol, but as a not WoL, she couldn't fight without being tempered. Sera was put out too. There was also the noise from towing ships and the dang sea snake and people shouting. It was a sloppy mess and no one enjoyed that fight.

IX. Destiny
Yawn. Endwalker, does contain spoilers.
Etien wasn’t unaccustomed to being extremely small around Ancients—she had taken as full a tour of the reconstructed Amaurot as she could, many of the shades kneeling or crouching down to look her in the eyes, addressing her as ‘little one’ because they thought she was literally a child. (Oh, if only they knew what this child had seen. And not seen, blinded by the light.)
But to stand in this building with the familiar architecture the Ancients were so fond of all around, and now no one asking if she was a small lost child, because they couldn’t see her at all, well, that was new. And not in a pleasant, refreshing way.
She wasn’t entirely sure how she was going to get anything done, if people’s gaze slid right over her, but while she was desperately searching her hands and the walls for answers, there came the sound of new arrivals by aether travel.
And—oh. She knew that voice! Hythlodaeus! She knew them, then! Both of them, she thought, her shoulders sinking a little when the other spoke, and then their masks came off and the eternally-exasperated expression and distinctive nose were in her view.
Well, maybe he would help her. This was, after all, him before Etien had gone and cocked up all his plans. The man before the pain had warped him.
It would be something of a bitter pill to swallow, but a little putting aside of her pride and her pain wouldn’t kill her.
And if all else failed, she could try to avoid dealing with him.
While she debated how to approach them, how she could gain their attention when she wasn’t much bigger than a rat, he turned and looked directly at her.
It was still an uncomfortably heavy gaze he had, even now.
She nearly tripped over her boots, the toe dragging on the floor, as she scrambled to get out of the way so they could get out the door.
But Hythlodaeus turned to him. “By the by, you see it too, yes?”
She looked up, hopeful.
“I haven’t the foggiest what you’re talking about.” Oh for the love of the gods.
Now Hythlodaeus came to a knee, and she fought herself not to move closer to him.
“It’s right here. It’s a bit thin in the aether,” no kidding, Etien mentally groused, “but there’s no mistaking it—the color of its soul is almost identical to Azem’s. Do you suppose she created it? Rather unusual for a familiar to have a soul, though…”
“Don’t ask me. All I know is that it’s trouble—doubly so if it’s her spitting image.”
She scratched at her ear, self-conscious. She doubted Delta had… never mind. Not worth it to justify his remark.
“So let’s leave it be. Come, now.”
No Hythlo, don’t leave me here! Are you going to let him tell you what to do? Hythlo pleeeeeeease.
She was aware her words weren’t reaching them.
“Hmm. It’s trying to say something, but it’s literally too intangible to form words.”
Finally generously gifted with some of the most honorable Emet-Selch’s aether, so she was tangible and at about Delta’s height compared to them, Etien stood before him and Hythlodaeus.
She smiled through the introductions. She didn’t need them! While others had mistakenly guessed he was the receptionist at the Bureau of the Secretariat, she knew he was the Chief of the Bureau of the Architect!
Delta, she knew deep in her heart, had been proud of him for it.
And she knew who was with him, too… for weal or woe.
“And how might we address you, my new friend?”
She beamed at him. “Etien.”
Going from spot to spot by the use of the transporters was clearly the best option, though it did render Etien’s mental map of Elpis smaller than the place truly was, eliding much of the vast swathes they had traversed aetherically.
Other than that little problem, she was quite happy to see the creatures that were familiar but just a little different. She loved the white griffin the Ananta had given her as thanks for her help with the bridge, but the Gryps were captivating in their colors.
As she was wandering around near one of the buildings they were supposed to be gathering at, she caught sight of another familiar animal.
“Whoa,” she breathed, a little pleased to see it, and a little scared by the sight still. “Balam-Quitz.”
“Oh, the Melanion?” Hythlodaeus asked. “We had quite a time with that concept when it crossed my desk. But I’m glad they seem to be doing well out here.”
She followed him along the path to the building.
It was during her chat with Venat that it all hit Etien full-force. As she looked out across the whole of Elpis, as she was trying to think of how to tell of her adventures, finding a way to answer the question, “has your journey been worthwhile?” that two entire lives began to yawn around her.
She couldn’t remember all of Delta’s time, and she probably (hopefully) never would. But she remembered enough to know that sitting with Hythlodaeus and idly chatting felt familiar. It felt good. Weaving the little flowers around her into a crown and being told that she looked even more like the woman she was claiming to be a representative—rather than a future fragment—of, that had felt good, too. It was strange to know that some percentage of her actions had been guided by ones so long ago, but she tried to see the good in it; someone cared enough to make the path clear.
And she thought of her journey so far, before she had doubled back to the distant past in this way, gotten high enough above it all to see her footsteps in the sand so far.
Her childhood, pulling herbs for her father to use, learning to use her recurve bow; her adolescence, hunts with her peers, time spent with A’beilnah, F’mahkra, and T’ahn; and her foray into adulthood, wandering into the Twelveswood on her own, wandering out of it with a modified name and a ride into Gridania.
She recalled joining the Scions, leading the charge against Primals and the Ultima Weapon. She recalled even more fondly other moments: Haurchefant hugging her so tightly when Edmont had adopted her; the relief of standing with Alphinaud and Aymeric at Estinien’s bedside; the night before liberating Doma where she had laid nestled with Yugiri; the night sky returned to Norvrandt and the joy in its residents’ eyes as they first saw the stars.
She could think of a thousand and one moments, all featuring her closest friends, and would lose count before she’d exhausted the list. But there were pains and sorrows, too. As many as there had been joys.
Too many to name.
As much as she may have resented being subjected to the strife, she was reminded again that someone, that Venat, had cared enough to lay bricks on the road, so not every step was difficult.
Though she was of a comparable height, she once again felt small before an Ancient.
And she prepared to answer.
For them, for the memories she had, it was always worth it. Even the worst of it.

FFXIV Writing Challenge - Prompt #5: Cutting Corners
Part two of the stories about the Golden Vipers Seeker of the Sun tribe after most of them were tempered by a false depiction of their Goddess for many turns. Part One || Part 2 || Part 3 || Part 4 || Part 5 || Part 6 || Part 7 || Part 8 || Part 9
Tumblr media
Golden eyes scanned the Ananta present after the morning ritual of greeting their Sun Goddess, but he couldn’t spot his Soul Other among them. To many outsiders, Ananta looked too similar to tell them apart when they were skyclad, but the miqo’te of the Golden Vipers knew what to look for: more obvious things like height and build, but also subtle differences in their facial features, the scale coils that were their hair, and the patterns of their scales themselves. Besides, she was his Soul Other. Rkah could recognize the Ananta part of his own Inner Flame in the dark from a malm away.
He donned a kilt before he went inside the stone tunnels, city sensibilities around nudity having subtly rubbed off on him some might say. Rkah would probably argue that it was colder in their shadow. He didn’t really like to stop and consider how much his time away had changed him. The Tia made his way deeper into the mountainside by the firelight of fragrant torches on the wall, until he came to the purple silks that indicated the entrance to her abode.
"Ssaha, are you in there?" He didn’t wait for a reply and simply barged in, earning him some sleepy grumblings as Sahasha woke from a nap. She rose up on her serpent tail, stretching out her arms as he adjusted the mirror that let the Goddess’ light pour into the chamber.
"L'akshmi iss up and hass been welcomed, yet you are sstill sleeping?” Rkah couldn't quite keep the concern out of his tone, but he supposed it was better than being accusatory. Though many opted to greet the Goddess in private or smaller groups, Sahasha had always enjoyed the social aspect of joining the main morning rite. "More akin to sssleeping again," she admitted, her voice a whispery hiss. Soft yet strong and alluring.
The Tia didn't really have a good response to that. At least she hadn't slept through it again then, he figured. Small victories, even if it felt a bit like cutting corners to him. “Well,” he said, forcing his tone to brighten with a mischievous tease. “I’ve got jusst the thing for you. It will keep you sso busy, napping will be a disstant memory.” That earned him a hard stare, her nictitating membrane crossing across her eyes in what he knew was a silent threat. She was a bit of a grump when newly awoken, at least that hadn’t changed.
Miqo’te and Ananta stared each other down for a long, tense moment. She had the benefit of height, as she was quite a bit taller than him when reared up like that. Rkah noticed that her scales looked better now, they were almost back to their old lustery shine. Sahasha took pride in them, as did most of her tribe, so he figured it was a good sign. Still, she seemed a little too thin, even for an Ananta, and she appeared tired to him even as she looked at him with that reptilian patience he couldn’t hope to match. She won, like she always did.
“I need you to ssing an armband for me,” he declared cheerfully. “I have the g…”
“Wait jussst a heartbeat,” she interrupted, crossing her arms over her chest as her stare turned into a glare. “I have not agreed to anything.”
"Not yet," he countered, doing his best to remain unfazed by her scrutiny. That membrane blink made it hard not to cringe, though, given the subtle message that she wouldn’t blink and take her eyes off him for even a second that it conveyed. “Are you bussy with something else? Maybe I can help.” Rkah looked around innocently enough, and she finally slowblinked at him, letting out a sigh. Large ears perked up, and he moved to sit down on one of her many cushions. Saha coiled her tail around him loosely, then used his lap as a pillow for her head. “It’sss jussst that I haven’t sssung sssince… you know,” the young Ananta admitted, avoiding his gaze self-consciously.
He caught his lower lip on a sharp canine fang, but he had foreseen her reluctance. This was no time to back out. A soft hum of acknowledgement was all she got in return at first, as he let his fingers glide over the scales on her arms and shoulders. Hers were real, unlike the tattoos he himself had. “Well,” he told her. “You have to start again some time, right? And thiss is important. Besides, you’re the besst Metal Singer we have.”
“You mean I am the only Metal Sssinger you feel comfortable demanding favoursss off,” she pointed out dryly, but then they both chuckled. “That helpss, sure,” Rkah admitted. “Don’t you want to know what I have in mind, at leasst?”
He was looking so smug about knowing something she didn’t, that she had no choice but to relent. Another glare was shot his way, her tone low. “Fine. What do you want?”
Halfway there, he thought to himself, here we go. "I need a Ssun-and-Moon bracelet, spun of gold and ssilver, it's..." Another interruption followed as his Soul Other gasped audibly:  "Ssso it isss true then, you are going to approach the Night Tribe?"
Of course rumours had made it to her, he should have known. Rkah’s ears flattened as he saw the hurt behind her eyes, and a lot of things he should have known and done creeped into his mind. “Yess, we need them. L’khua issn’t fit enough, and I’m…”
“Not ready,” she hissed, and again he found himself nodding. “I… I am sorry, Saha,” Rkah told her, and it wasn’t lost on him how close her name was to the one he had gone to instead. “I am jusst so used to only having Sahali around to talk to, and I didn’t want to burden you as you recovered. I’m sorry.”
“You said that twice now,” she pointed out, but there was no venom in her tone. He was already forgiven, though he wasn’t sure he deserved it. “When you become Nunh, I will be Brood Mother. No one bothered to asssk me if I am ready for that, not even you. Or had you forgotten that every Miqo’te cub needsss an Ananta Sssoul Other?”
The Tia had no real excuse, other than that he had been running himself raggard of late. Words failed him now, but she could see the regret in him. She wouldn’t let him sweat any longer, for the scent of Miqo’te sweat was unpleasant. Even his. "You are forgiven. And before you asssk, no, I'm not ready, but I have alwaysss known this role might fall to me some sssun. That'sss the beauty and the bane of thosssse who are bonded with a male, unnatural little beingsss that you are," she teased, though Rkah suspected there was a grain of truth in the statement. Ananta were an all female species, or at least by how he understood them to consider themselves. Men were a weird concept even to those that had been bonded with his tribe, and needing men to procreate was even stranger still.
"Well, I could sstill fail misserably and have my tail kicked by L'khua," he offered, to which she scoffed. "No, you won't." The statement was so simple, so confident. He envied her a little. "I will sssing the mossst beautiful band, for you and for the Moon Nunh. Now be quiet and nap with me, no argumentsss."
He had a million things to do, but by that time her grip on him had tightened, and there simply was no getting out of it. He might as well just go with it. "Alright, Saha. For a little bit." Tia and Ananta dozed in mirror-reflected light, resting better than either had in moons.

Pg. 9 & 10: Griffin-Master’s Sherwani/Griffin-Mistress’s Choli
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Oh come, ye wayward brothers,
Bereft of hearth and home,
Beneath yon burning star there lies,
A haven for the bold.
Raise up your hands and voices,
Let fill your hearts with pride,
Above the churning waters, we
Stand strong and unified!"
Storming into this glorious clothing line are the ninth and tenth pages: the Griffin-Master's Sherwani and the Griffin-Mistress's Choli, surely to be the pride and joy of Ala Mhigo!
One look at the violet-and-golden garbs of precious Taffeta Silk and Ala Mhigan Weave (with no Garlean influence, as a plus) will make any tried-and-true native and faithful swell with pride.  Taking note of Gyr Abanian aesthetics - paired with the skills and knowledge gained from the Ananta's tutelage - the Mythrite Sultan has created a work of art for man and woman to flaunt in any setting!
Himmeya Twelvefist, Fist of Rhalgr Disciple, Regalia Enforcer and Angel, eagerly stepped up to model for this liberating garment.  The symbol of the Destroyer Himself reminds those of the star which guided the obdurate Ala Mhigans to the safe haven nestled within Gyr Abania.  Nymeia, the Spinner, is also shown to reflect that temporary point in history when Ala Mhigo worshiped the weaver of fate, and seekers of fashion are free to choose which one they want shown on their respective outfit.
Don the Griffin-Master's Sherwani or the Griffin-Mistress' Choli and become the burning beacon of hope for the fashion faithful.  Rejoice in the grandeur of a city-state that tastes freedom once again!
(Credit and thanks to @unwaveringstar for the creation of these masterpieces!)
"Dancers and even fellow Fists of Rhalgr would love one of these!" -Himmeya Twelvefist, Higuri Regalia Enforcer

Abanian Nights.
Aymeric x Kiya Middle-East AU!
I got an idea for this and well I hope it works out nicely. Try to remain respectful naturally to cultures.
Under a lovely trope of enemies to lovers.
Featuring @maiden-born-in-snow ‘s Shuri
Tumblr media
Gyr Abania is a hard land to live in, and through the different people. The structures were different between poor and rich. Those in the land believed between the different deities, some of Lakshmi, some of Shiva, and of Garuda. The primal deities holding reign over different regions.
In the heart of Gyr Abania in Ala Mhigo, in the main castle lives a king and his family. Ysayle and her brother Aymeric, under the rule of Thordan. Guarded by many guards. This house was protected under Shiva, and had many assassination attempts by those under Garuda.
The son of Thordan learned well how to hold himself in fights. He was well groomed in his status, his skills in both bow and sword, and how to bargain and reason with peddlers. He did not fancy the way that other princes would bed many women, or put notches in bedposts. It didn’t stop others from trying to persuade him.
He preferred the company of Estinien, his hand guard most of the time, letting him escape some of the castle walls to a little ways away where he trains in private from time to time.
“I’m fine for the time being, Estinien. Take a break for a bit.” Aymeric needed to breathe himself from all the ways people guide his hand everywhere. From how he is suppose to act, to who he should marry. He was arranged to someone he didn’t know, while his guard has his eye for the Princess of Lakshmi.
He has seen their guards, how most of Lakshmi’s region are all women. Strong women, surely he’d love to have one of them over someone from Garuda. The empress of Garuda, Yotsuyu had demanded him as an arranged marriage, and he rather not.
Aymeric’s thoughts are drawn out by what sounds like a hiss in the air. His head snaps up in time to see a sword in front of him. He parries it, and jumps back to see a shadow dart around him, aiming for his side.
He parries the sword and grits his teeth a little at how powerful the sword strike is. The figure jumps back, and he is met with a small miqo woman. Green eyes glaring at him, and sword poised to strike already.
“Wait a minute!” He fends her off from another attack on him, and they both start trading blows of sword to sword. Aymeric actually finds himself enjoying it if it weren’t for the fact she wanted to kill him.
The woman tires and jumps back a bit, breathing a bit harder as she glares at him. Aymeric was kept on his toes, but impressed, her dress was one he recognized as a Lakshmi follower.
“What is your name?” Aymeric asks, keeping an eye on her for any further attacks.
“Why do you care? Prince! You’re not going to live long enough to really know it.” She spits out, and takes her stance a bit more. Aymeric raises his hand up to keep her from attacking.
“I’d love to know the name of the woman who bested me. At least.” He tries to buy himself time. The woman lifts her sword towards his face.
“Kiya, of Lakshmi. Second hand guard to princess Shuri.” Aymeric places his palm on the flat of her sword, and pushes it away from himself, he then quickly grabs his own sword and slams it against the flat of her blade causing a shock in her. Aymeric is quick to round himself and slip behind her grabbing her from behind trapping her arms to her sides as she kicks her feet. He lifts her with ease even feels her kick at his thigh as he holds her in such a way.
“Let me go!” Kiya squirms in his grasp, Aymeric keeps hold of her for his life knowing she’ll attempt to use her sword on him if he lets her loose.
“Not until you stop trying to attack me!” Her tail wriggles against his leg, and she growls under her breath. Kiya narrows her eyes, and flattens her ears to her head. Aymeric feels her stop resisting so much.
“Are we good then?” Aymeric asks, not letting his grip loose on her at all. She is light.
“I have no choice in the matter. I’ll be good.” She hisses out.
“Who sent you.” He asks.
“Secret.” She retorts, and Aymeric lets her on her feet but keeps her arms trapped to her sides still.
“You are in no position to keep a secret. I could have you executed here. Now, who sent you.” He orders her.
“Matoya. Lakshmi’s advisor. Said the best time to attack would be tonight.”  Kiya tests her pull away, and Aymeric tightens his hold again. She doesn’t resist much, he is stronger than her.
“I’ll have to change my habits then. As for you. I don’t meet many women who can hold a sword the way you do. Where did you learn?” Aymeric feels her shrug him off, and he lets go, staying on his guard as she goes to retrieve her sword.
“I train with the Ananta. Your hand is impressive yourself, but you leave yourself open it is laughable.” Aymeric raises an eyebrow to this.
“Yet you did not strike me in those open spots. Why is that if you aimed to kill me.”
“Your friend is still around. Be careless of me if I killed you while the spearman can attack.” She narrows her eyes, Aymeric sees her take her stance more for defense. He bends to inspect her form a bit. She is stunning under the moonlight, tanned in skin, bright green eyes, hair tied up, and a scar on the left side of her face.
Tumblr media
“I see.” Amusement in his voice, Aymeric hears the footsteps in the distance of Estinien returning soon. He keeps his gaze on Kiya.
“I could keep you in this palace here. We could use a strong woman around like you.” Kiya laughs at his words.
“I’d only go with you, if you’d win my hand.” Kiya takes a few steps back towards the other way out of the spot.
“Who are you talking to, Aymeric?” Estinien gets his attention off of Kiya, and when Aymeric turns to look back he sees Kiya had vanished almost.
“The wind.” He answers absentminded.
“So you converse with the wind now?” Estinien teases him, and Aymeric gives a wry grin.
“Apparently I do. It is late, we should get back before anyone important notices I am gone.” Aymeric glances over his shoulder to see Kiya peek her head from the doorframe of the other archway. He raises an eyebrow to her, then turns his attention in front of him, before Estinien presses question further.
Kiya before he turned away sticks her tongue out, then runs off back to a base camp that was set up for her group.
“How did it go?” Came a ask, Matoya sees Kiya stiffen at her voice, and look her way.
“He’s skilled in the sword.” Kiya answers brisk, the sway of her tail shows agitation in her returning empty handed.
“The night is still young, go again!”
“That is suicide! He’s already on alert!”
“But not of the same face! Go!” She demands, and Kiya turns on her heel to head back. She hisses under her breath.
Kiya sighs to herself, she grabs another item to use instead, a small dagger. Racing back to find a way into the structure.
Aymeric had resigned himself to his chambers, his mind already full of thoughts of the fiery woman he had encountered. How she danced around him with ease, if she had truly meant to harm him. If she was to assassinate him why didn’t she kill him.
He thought he felt the sensation of the end of his bed dip, his mind alert, he shifts a foot and feels weight. Aymeric jolts upright, only to be shoved down and pinned by a body stradling his waist, and Kiya aiming a dagger at his head, he moves his head to the side in time to avoid it. He shoves her and flips her over and underneath him.
A hand clasps over Kiya’s mouth to keep her from yelling. She is met with a stare from Aymeric and he eyes the dagger embedded in the pillow where his head was.
“You have alot of bravery to attack me twice in the same night. Ah!” He pulls his hand back after feeling her teeth dig into his palm. She struggles against him to wriggle out from underneath him. Kiya kicks her feet out, while Aymeric wrests her hands above her head, and pins her legs with his waist.
“Enough!” He grabs the dagger she had used and holds it at her neck. Her eyes only glare and she turns her head.
“Why are you so intent on having mine head tonight? Speak!”
“I am just ordered to do it! And I obey it!” Kiya shifts away from the blade, and Aymeric moves it away sitting up. He notes she isn’t fighting him like earlier. Probably not to draw attention to her location.
“You should leave before you’re caught.”
“Why are you sparing me twice? I’m trying to kill you.”
“If I had to, I rather fight you on equal footing than like this.” He keeps her dagger.
“I’ll be holding onto this however, to ensure you don’t try again tonight.” Kiya glowers up at him from her spot, he keeps her wrists together. If he had been any other kind of man. He does lean over her when she tries to get up and claims a quick kiss on her. The act baffles her and causes her to make a noise in protest to it.
She with her feet free, she kicks his side, and scrambles out. Aymeric is given a powerful slap that has him touching the right side of his face. He eyes her with a bit of pride in his eyes at finding such a fiery woman. Nothing like the women in Ala Mhigo, or Ala Ghiri. She held her own, she is strong, and could prove to be a powerful ally if he could earn her.
“Why did you!?!”
“For trying to kill me.”
“So you kiss me?!”
“A promise.”
“A promise for what!?!”
“I think I’ll chase after you. So to accept your challenge to win your hand.” Kiya is dumbfounded at his words.
“Ha! It will be a difficult challenge! You would have to take on the challenge most foreigners take in Lakshmi’s region.” Kiya holds her own pride in her eyes.
“Oh? And what challenge is that? Tell me.”
“It’s an archer’s contest. If you really want to know, find your way to the banquet there.” She quirks an eyebrow at him, and he feels a sense of wild in his nature.
“Aye then, I’ll be there and do it. What would be the prize?”
“Any of the women under Lakshmi’s region. From Princess to peasant. Yet there hasn’t been a person able to do it yet.” Kiya folds her arms across her chest seeing the way he stares at her.
“Then I will be the first.” Aymeric takes the challenge. Kiya beams a taunting smirk at him.
“Challenge accepted then. Don’t die to anyone then.” Aymeric sees her run towards his open window, and sees her climb out of it. He touches the back of his hand to his face and winces at the slap that was still there.
Kiya returned back to the encampment and informed Matoya of the conditions, in how perceptive the prince is.
“You sure he wants to take that on?” Matoya wonders why a prince no less would even want to. She then laughs.
“Seems you caught his eye well. Can’t say I blame him, you are a catch.” She earns Kiya glaring at her.
“I don’t have time for marriage.” Kiya can already see the wheels turning in the old woman.
“Whatever you are planning, I don’t want anything of it. I’m going to report to Shuri, the to bed.” She leaves Matoya, who talks with other servants around her to begin preparations for a custom they have had.
Lakshmi’s trial is one for those trained in bows, with a special ring of targets to shoot arrows through and to be done a certain way that all three rings get pierced at the same time.
Kiya has seen many men try it, and only a few succeed that were actually skillful and have claimed women for their hands in marriage.
“How did it go?” Kiya raises her head to see Shuri, dressed in fine silks, and interested in hearing any stories.
“He was too swift to kill.” Kiya answers. Earning a raised eyebrow from the au ra.
“That’s a shame, how was fighting with the prince?” Shuri sits upright wanting to know. Her other hand guard Ardbert looks between them, one of the only men of the guard keep.
“He fights so well that I almost didn’t want to stop. It’d be a shame to kill such a fine man.” Kiya felt the words leave her, and sees the white haired woman grin a bit.
“Oh? Is he good looking as they rumor him?” Kiya feels her face heat up at the memory she had with the man in question.
“He is. I should tell you more tomorrow. More in private.” She looks to Ardbert, who eyes her weary about secrecy.
“Tomorrow then.” She looked forward to stories of different lands Kiya is sent to.
Once by herself, Kiya feels her nerves on fire, the kiss she had from the prince left her with a sensation she wasn’t sure she liked or not.
“Let’s see you pass that trial then.” She murmurs under her breath.
