WHAT THE WIND KNOWS
BY AMY HARMON
I read it. Then I read it again. Ever since I stumbled upon 'A Different Blue', I have gobbled up all her books and each one just filled me up. This is my third time reading this novel within a year and I was swayed so hard that I immediately wanted to jot down my review.
Amy has done an amazing job intertwining history with fictional romance. While there have been many books for characters going back in time, take Outlander for example, this story captivated me with the thought of reading a factually based historical setting, as female lead Anne Gallagher steps into the past as she visits Ireland after her grandfather's death at his behest. I was mesmerised by the history, embraced their love story with fervour and felt sharp pain at their loss, their friend's loss, admired their friendship and enthusiasm. I'm so glad I found this author. I felt like I went on a trip with Anne Gallagher to 1921 Ireland, when the country was at the edge of war struggling for independence. When you feel like an omniscient reader living the pages, you know the author has done a good job.
I didn't even skip a page as I am prone to, sometimes bored by droning descriptions instead of storytelling, sometimes searching for juicy parts. That itself tells you, each page is beautifully delivered and I want more of her books.
For people who are checking out books for a quiet read , I recommend this a good time to peruse her book. You'll love her work like I do.
You are an inspiring writer Amy Harmon. I wish I could spin plots and feelings like you.

A Girl Called Samson by Amy Harmon #AmazonFirstReads #April2023Books #NewRelease #BookReview
I struck gold again with last month's #AmazonFirstReads selection. #AGirlCalledSamson is the fictional account of #DeborahSamson, a young woman who posed as a man and fought in the #RevolutionaryWar #AmyHarmon #April2023Books #NewBooks #BookReview
In 1760, Deborah Samson is born to Puritan parents in Plympton, Massachusetts. When her father abandons the family and her mother is unable to support them, Deborah is bound out as an indentured servant. From that moment on, she yearns for a life of liberation and adventure. Twenty years later, as the American colonies begin to buckle in their battle for independence, Deborah, impassioned by the…

I have done this once again. I have read a book that broke me into million pieces. I have endured each stabbing phrase silently. I have been waiting for the right time, the right words to arrive, so that I can say what I am here to say. I have never been much of a reviewer, never learned the art of it. But I have learned so much, went through so much, thought so much, hoped so much, blamed so much. Yet, cannot weave one single sentence. Reading this book felt like touching time. Even though once it's gone, no matter what I can do, I cannot bring it back. But I'm contained, because this time was well spend. I have no regrets. Just a hope. Hope, I can be brave enough, strong enough to do justice to this book. But I can not. I might not. I'm angry. I'm so angry at the world, at fate, at each turn the novel took, at the beginning, middle and end. I am ragged. Why does bad things happen to good people? Why don't they listen to me when I am screaming at the book? Why can't all the good I've ever done cannot be theirs? Why does this or that or it Why does Why Why Why Enough about me, let's talk about you. What book makes you emotional? What is your favorite Amy Harmon book? What is your saddest read? #amyharmon #makingfaces #emotionalbooks #indianbookstagram #indianbookstagrammer #indianbookblogger #romancebookblogger #romancebooksofinstagram #indianbookreviewer #ebookreader #romancebookstagram #ebooklover #romancebookaddict #ebookstagram #ebooknovel #ebookwormsclub #bookbloggersofinstagram #bookreviewersofinstagram #booksonbooks #bookphotography #bookrec #bookflatlay (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cen7TxBL_gR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Song Book of Benny Lament Book Review- 5 Stars . I love historical romances. This isn't the type I usually lean towards to so I figured as much I would like it. Instead I loved it. Such a beautifully written love story...but beautiful doesn't ever mean easy. It's a love story about an interracial couple in the 60's in NYC. So yes there is racism involved. And it wouldn't have been as believable and gripping if there hadn't been any. If you're going to write about a certain time period then you need to give the bad right along with the good. This may be fiction but it isn't fantasy. So be real with it and I feel like Amy Harmon did her research and wrote it well. Benny Lament is Italian, from The Bronx, and he's the nephew of a mob boss and a songwriter. Okay I can't lie...upon seeing he was from The Bronx I was already liking him. I'm not Italian, the niece of a mob boss or born in the 60's...but I am from The Bronx so off the bat I was like "What's good, Benny." LOL. The man was born to write songs and wrote his first one at the age of 8. He goes on to have a great career...but wants nothing to do with familial responsibilities of any kind after what he witnessed as a child. The story is told from his POV. Esther Mine is Black, grew up with a large family and is the lead singer of the group Minefield. And all Benny had to do was hear her sing one time and before she was even done he knew he just HAD to write a song for her. Esther is nobody's fool and gives as good as she gets. The songwriting part came easy for them. Everything else was quite the opposite. Come ready to feel all the feelings. . Huge thank you to @korrieskorner for putting this book on my radar and to @readswithmj for gifting it to me! . #TheSongBookOfBennyLament #AmyHarmon #BookReview @amy.harmon2 https://www.instagram.com/p/CNXs2VgrcJQ/?igshid=13ezibdmddz44

‘if you want to see change, you have to show them what it looks like.’ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 🌻 ¡Hola, Hola! It's March but you have a book that will be your favorite of the year? Mine is The Songbook of Benny Lament (although I'm not objective with Amy Harmon, I love everything she writes)⠀ This time we are in NY of the 50s and we have a little bit of everything: music, romance, family, racism and gangsters.⠀ Benny is a talented songwriter and Esther is a singer who wants a chance and gets out of the bar where she sings.⠀ The two characters are ❤️. Something I really like about the author is her writing, she transports you and her characters are very real, you care about them.⠀ As with Daisy Jones, when I finished reading it I wanted to hear the songs mentioned but sadly it is fiction. What have you been listening to lately?⠀ ⠀ Thanks @Netgalley and @lakeunionauthors for the ARC⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #thesongbookofbennylament #amyharmon #romanticfiction #historicalfiction #amazonpublishing #lakeunionpublishing #letsread #bookclubsofinstagram #bookclubbook #readingiscool #booksta #historicalfiction #historical #favoriteauthor #historicalfiction #bookstagram #readingaddict #becauseofreading #readingismagic #readersofinstagram #historicalfictionnovel (en New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMewm32rm9L/?igshid=12s24soxsdhz9

"True beauty, the kind that doesn't fade or wash off, takes time. It takes incredible endurance. It is the slow drip that creates the stalactite, the shaking of the Earth that creates mountains, the constant pounding of the waves that breaks up the rocks and smooths the rough edges. And from the violence, the furor, the raging of the winds, the roaring of the waters, something better emerges, something that would have otherwise never existed. And so we endure. We have faith that there is purpose. We hope for things we can't see. We believe there are lessons in loss, power in love, and that we have within us the potential for a beauty so magnificent, our bodies can't contain it." Amy Harmon, Making Faces • 🇬🇧 Amy Harmon is one of my fav authors and Making Faces is my fav book of hers ❤ • When you love an author is really hard to choose just one book to love, am I right? • 🇮🇹 Adoro, adoro Amy Harmon!

I’m really sad I’m behind on my reading/book club picks and it’s taken me so long to get to this book. I’m only a few chapters in and I’m already obsessed! . . . In this epic and haunting love story set on the Oregon Trail, a family and their unlikely protector find their way through peril, uncertainty, and loss. The Overland Trail, 1853: Naomi May never expected to be widowed at twenty. Eager to leave her grief behind, she sets off with her family for a life out West. On the trail, she forms an instant connection with John Lowry, a half-Pawnee man straddling two worlds and a stranger in both. But life in a wagon train is fraught with hardship, fear, and death. Even as John and Naomi are drawn to each other, the trials of the journey and their disparate pasts work to keep them apart. John’s heritage gains them safe passage through hostile territory only to come between them as they seek to build a life together. When a horrific tragedy strikes, decimating Naomi’s family and separating her from John, the promises they made are all they have left. Ripped apart, they can’t turn back, they can’t go on, and they can’t let go. Both will have to make terrible sacrifices to find each other, save each other, and eventually…make peace with who they are. . . . #wherethelostwander #amyharmon #amyharmonbooks #bookstagram #historicalfiction #bookblogger #bookclub #currentlyreading (at Highland Park, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/CC_ZcIbAuJA/?igshid=1elh6549s7k23
