Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Valentinus Day!
Valentine's Day provides an opportunity, an excuse really, to share these powerful, loving verses of the heart. The poetic words of mystics are directed towards God as the Beloved lover of their soul, yet their expressions are so loving, so blissful, and ecstatic that they are, at the same time, quite romantic and appropriate for Valentine's Day between soul-mates! I believe the soul-to-soul-mate relationship of romance is a kind of 'reflection' of the soul's relationship with God (soul-to-Oversoul), the ultimate pure love from the Ocean of Love.

How did the Sikh religion come to birth? Who were the 10 Gurus ?
The Sikh religion, also known as Sikhism, was founded in the late 15th century in the Indian subcontinent by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. Sikhism emerged as a distinct religious and spiritual movement that sought to bridge the gap between Hinduism and Islam, emphasizing the oneness of God and the equality of all human beings.
The birth of Sikhism can be traced back to the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji (1469-1539). He was born in the village of Talwandi, which is now known as Nankana Sahib in present-day Pakistan. Guru Nanak belonged to a Hindu family, but from a young age, he showed a profound interest in spirituality and a questioning mind. He embarked on numerous spiritual journeys, engaging in deep contemplation and seeking spiritual truths.
The pivotal moment that marked the beginning of Sikhism occurred when Guru Nanak had a spiritual experience during one of his meditations. He emerged from this experience with a profound realization of the divine unity that underlies all existence. He proclaimed, "There is no Hindu, there is no Muslim," emphasizing the universal nature of spirituality and the oneness of God.
Guru Nanak's teachings revolved around the concept of one God (Ik Onkar) and the rejection of rituals, caste system, and religious divisions. He advocated the importance of selfless service, equality, compassion, and the pursuit of an honest and meaningful way of life.
Throughout his life, Guru Nanak traveled extensively, spreading his teachings and gathering disciples who were inspired by his message. His followers came to be known as Sikhs, a term derived from the Sanskrit word "shishya," meaning disciple or student.
After Guru Nanak, the mantle of leadership passed to nine more Gurus, each contributing to the development and consolidation of Sikhism. The Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of the Sikhs, includes the writings of Guru Nanak and the subsequent Gurus, along with compositions of saints from different religious backgrounds.
Sikhism was established and developed by ten Gurus during the period 1469 to 1708. Sikhs regard the ten Gurus not as divine, but as enlightened teachers through whom God revealed his will. Each Guru appointed his successor. Guru Nanak Dev was the first Guru and Guru Gobind Singh the final Guru in human form. Guru Gobind Singh designated the Sri Guru Granth Sahib the ultimate and final Sikh Guru. The ten Gurus are:
Guru Nanak Dev (1469-1539). The founder of Sikhism (see above).
Guru Angad Dev (1504-52). Developed Gurmukhi, the script used for the Punjab language and composed 62 hymns that were later included in the Guru Granth Sahib.
Guru Amar Das (1479-1574). Became Guru at the age of 73. Organized three annual gatherings for Sikhs, set up the first pilgrimage site at Goindval Sahib and introduced Sikh rituals for birth and death. His most famous hymn, Anand Sahib, is part of Sikh daily ritual.
Guru Ram Das (1534-1581). Founded Amritsar, the holy city of Sikhism. His followers dug the pool that became the holy lake surrounding the Golden Temple. Composed the Lavan marriage hymn, still used in Sikh marriages.
Guru Arjan Dev (1563-1606). Collected the hymns of previous Gurus and added 2616 of his own to form the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of Sikhism. He also built the Golden Temple. Sikhism was well established by the time of Guru Arjan Dev Guru Arjan completed the establishment of Amritsar as the capital of the Sikh world, and compiled the first authorised book of Sikh scripture, the Adi Granth. However, during Arjan's time Sikhism was seen as a threat by the state and Guru Arjan was eventually executed for his faith in 1606.
Guru Hargobind (1595-1644). The son of Guru Arjan. Proclaimed that the Guru is a military leader as well as spiritual leader, leading to conflict with the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.
Guru Har Rai (1630-1661). Grandson of Guru Hargobind.
Guru Har Krishan (1656-1664). Younger son of Guru Har Rai. Became guru at the age of 5 and died of smallpox at the age of 8. He is the only Guru depicted in art without a beard.
Guru Tegh Bahadur (1621-75). Great-uncle of Guru Har Krishan. Was barred from Amritsar by Sikh rivals, so founded the Sikh center of Anandpur. Was beheaded in Delhi by Muslims for helping Brahmins avoid forcible conversion to Islam. who used force to make his subjects accept Islam.Aurangzeb had the ninth Guru Tegh Bahadur arrested and executed in 1675.
Guru Gobind Singh (1666-1708). Son of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Second only to Guru Nanak in importance, he is often shown prominently next to Nanak in Sikh art. Resisted oppression by Mughgal and Hindu authorities, exemplifying the Sikh ideal of the heroic saint-soldier. Founded the Khalsa and Sikh baptism, composed many poems, and nominated the Sikh sacred text as the final and enduring Guru.
The tenth and final Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, bestowed the status of the eternal Guru upon the Guru Granth Sahib before passing away. From that moment on, Sikhs consider the Guru Granth Sahib as their eternal and spiritual guide. Sikhism has since grown into a significant religion with a rich cultural and historical heritage, centered around the teachings of its Gurus and the principles of equality, service, and devotion to the divine.
After the Gurus
The first military leader of the Sikhs to follow the Gurus was Banda Singh Bahadur.
He led a successful campaign against the Moghals until he was captured and executed in 1716.
In the middle of the century the Sikhs rose up again, and over the next 50 years took over more and more territory.
In 1799 Ranjit Singh captured Lahore, and in 1801 established the Punjab as an independent state, with himself as Maharaja.
He proved an adept ruler of a state in which Sikhs were still in a minority.
Although a devout Sikh, he took part in religious acts Muslims and Hindus too
Defeated by the British
After Ranjit Singh died in 1839 the Sikh state crumbled, damaged by vicious internal battles for the leadership.
In 1845-6 troops of the British Empire defeated the Sikh armies, and took over much Sikh territory.
The Sikhs rebelled again in 1849, and were defeated by the British, this time conclusively.
The Sikhs and the British Raj
After this final battle, the Sikhs and the British discovered they had much in common and built a good relationship. The tradition began of Sikhs serving with great distinction in the British Army.
The Sikhs got on well with the British partly because they came to think of themselves less as subjects of the Raj than as partners of the British.
The British helped themselves get a favourable religious spin when they took control of the Sikh religious establishment by putting their own choices in control of the Gurdwaras.
Good relations between Sikhs and British came to an end in 1919 with the Amritsar massacre.

Terror Strikes Again! Dinesh Vijan's “Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank”
Fear Has Its Own Menace. Now, talking about some menacing fear! The town of Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh, India is now free from the terror of the ghost woman known as "Stree", who used to abduct men. But now, a new terror is born! It’s a huge headless man who had killed Stree, who used to be a tyrant when he was alive. The same headless man addressed as “Sarkata” now haunts the town. He abducts beautiful and modern young women at night. And what do you think he does after abducting these women? He shaves their heads bald and makes them living dummies. Presenting Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in Stree 2! https://youtu.be/nFgsBxw-zWQ?si=5SZPoOiR8TZO2Y_P It is now up to Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and his friends Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana), Jana (Abhishek Banerjee), and Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi) to save the town from the haunting of the monstrous headless man. As Bittu’s beautiful girlfriend Chitti (Anya Singh) gets abducted by the headless man, they set on a quest to find him along with an unidentified woman (Shraddha Kapoor), who is actually a ghost herself! Produced by Dinesh Vijan, written by Niren Bhatt, and directed by Amar Kaushik, “Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank”, translated as “The Woman 2: Terror Of The Headless Man”, is a direct follow-up sequel to Bollywood’s 2018 horror-comedy “Stree”, translated as “The Woman”. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor as the inexplicable pair, this horror-comedy also features Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee in supporting roles. Stree 2 makes its theatrical release worldwide on Indian Independence Day. Maddock Films Presents: Experience The Terror Of The Headless Man -- Stree 2 (2024) Official Trailer: https://youtu.be/KVnheXywIbY?si=Jn6FktFXZP89iqOR The Good: In India, horror comedies are on their high! This genre has surpassed the general horror niche when it comes to making films. It’s because when you mix some intense comedy with horror, it will scare you and at the same time make you laugh your heads off! The Indian crowd happens to love some action and comedy as well rather than just pure horror in their films. So, the horror-comedy genre is sure to rocket sky-high in the coming days. Tamannaah Bhatia sizzles the screens with her item dance in the fiery track “Aaj Ki Raat” https://youtu.be/roz9sXFkTuE?si=4QGBTKTZdUSeu0Cj I have to say, what a terrific screenplay Stree 2 has, much ahead of the original movie! We loved the original movie which was Stree (2018) and talking about this sequel, it was intensely exciting with its bouncing screenplay loaded with hilarious punches, terrifying horror, and last but not least, some mind-blowing action! Some of the double-meaning dialogues may sound vulgar but they sure are extremely comical. And we just loved our favorite pair from Stree, Rajkummar Rao, and Shraddha Kapoor together on the big screens once again! Their on-screen love story is one of a kind! Even if Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) is least aware that the unidentified woman (Shraddha Kapoor) is actually a ghost, they both share deep feelings for each other. Shraddha Kapoor has once again performed some raw action alongside Rajkummar Rao. She as the ghost woman fights and tries to sacrifice herself to the headless man. She did this for her love and the town. The climax will surely blow up your mind with some fierce action. We also become aware of this ghost woman’s true identity in Stree 2 with which we were deceived in Stree. Initially, we thought that this ghost woman was Stree herself. But this sequel revealed that she was actually Stree’s daughter who took vengeance on the headless man for her mother’s death. The track “Tumahare Hi Rahenge Hum” featuring Rajkummar Rao as Vicky and Shraddha Kapoor as his ghost girlfriend https://youtu.be/cxKAtmvf-uM?si=SuhEOI496Z-4Kb9Z The adventurous screenplay intensifies with the monstrous headless ghost (played by Sunil Kumar). “Bachchan Ke Upar Aamir Khan Laga Lo, Phir Bhi Kamar Tak Hi Aayegi Uski”, meaning “If you put Aamir Khan on top of Amitabh Bachchan, with their combined height they would only reach up to his waist”, as Rajkummar Rao describes him in this movie. The way this headless ghost abducts women is worth watching. He first throws his scary head towards them and that severed head entangles them with its long hairs and carries them inside a wall, vanishing into nowhere! Also in one scene, he unleashes a mass hypnotism among the townsmen who were protecting a dancer Shama (Tamannaah Bhatia) from him. That scene was simply mystifying! Stree 2: An Intro By Maddock Films https://youtu.be/MxOnV1YS198?si=d7FC5SI_pBPRxwNV Apart from all the scare, adventure, and action, there is hilarious comedy in every instance with Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana entertaining us with their ocean of humor. There was not a single moment in this 2-hour and 30-minute screenplay where you would feel a slowdown or start feeling bored. And I have to tell you, Akshay Kumar’s cameo in this movie will make you fall off your chairs with laughter. The climax also had Varun Dhawan as the werewolf to help Vicky and his ghost girlfriend as he had appeared in the horror-comedy “Bhediya”. The visuals have a retro and nostalgic “small-town” essence. This movie was shot in the historical town of Chanderi itself, which happens to be a real place. Even if the nighttime ghost encounter animations were sloppy and dark in certain instances, still the hype and nostalgia of the drama made every scene enjoyable. Some of the songs in Stree2 were ultra-rocking and their melody and beats were awesome! Stree 2: Varun Dhawan plays the werewolf “Bhediya” who teams up with Vicky and his ghost girlfriend to encounter the headless ghost while at the same time has a crush on her https://youtu.be/1-nnEM8chwo?si=OjQFlLfO8g4QpMB1 The Bad: Unfortunately, you can understand and enjoy Stree 2 only if you have watched its 2018 prequel Stree. If you have watched that film, only then can you follow this sequel’s story and proceedings in the screenplay. This sequel happens to be a direct follow-up to the original film and the story begins right from where the prequel had ended in 2018. For those people who are planning to watch this for the first time, I must warn you that this horror-comedy story will soar 20 feet above your heads. You won’t be able to understand anything except for some friends on their quest to encounter a headless creature. So, it’s my advice that you watch Stree (2018) first and then go for this sequel. https://youtu.be/D1SFjYoXRB8?si=YSfgqKyD-bpZCAgQ The Verdict: See It To Believe It! In Hindi cinema, you just don’t feel fear but when fear comes to you, you also perform some comedy to shoo it away. If you compare Indian horror movies to that of Hollywood, there’s this difference. It is because pure horror does not suffice for the Indian crowd. We want everything in one go! Combining comedy with horror becomes a rare blend that intrigues and entertains everyone. Stree 2 is a cinematic masterpiece where the star cast goes into one-on-one duels with ghosts. Stree (2018) and Stree 2 are uniquely entertaining horror films blended with action and comedy. The reason why Stree 2’s Box-Office collections are soaring to record highs! This movie is a great one-time watch for people of all ages. Certain scenes may instill fear in kids, so parental guidance is advised while watching. As for the rest of us adults, you wouldn’t want to miss out on this rollercoaster ride, trust me! Also, if you ever encounter a ghost in real life, don’t forget to do some extravagant comedy to overcome your fear. Read the full article

Amar Singh Chamkila: An Insight into Modern Punjabi Music
Instagram: @thatguyanesejournalist Twitter: @TGJournalist
(SOME SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE FILM)
Let’s talk about Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila.
A humble singer’s brash lyrics ignite fame and fury across Punjab as he grapples with soaring success and brutal criticism before his untimely death.
I absolutely loved this film. As many have said before, Amar Singh Chamkila is really a comeback for Ali and shows he’s capable of much more than rom-coms. Returning to directing after four years, Ali does a remarkable job of bringing Chamkila’s story to life without overdramatizing anything, a trait commonly seen in many Indian biographical films. Amar Singh Chamkila feels so authentic in a sense that it feels like I’m living through the story during real time.
I think one reason I felt like that was because of the number of times real footage appeared throughout the film from the time the real Chamkila and Amarjot were alive. I found myself constantly pausing and looking at how accurately Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti reenacted their real life counterparts based on the pictures and videos included in the film.
The narrative of the film, starting with the assassination of the couple, captures you from the first shot. Having the story told by people who were involved in Chamkila’s life in some way cements how much of an impact he made around him. I think the only gripe I had with the film was how minimal Gurmail (Chamkila’s first wife) was in the film, but I guess I shouldn’t attribute this to Ali’s’ directing and more to real-life Chamkila marrying Amarjot to keep the partnership alive while still being married to Gurmail. Which is another reason I loved this movie. Ali didn’t completely show Chamkila as a hero. He was, for lack of a better word, morally gray and just wanted to pursue music no matter what.
One specific scene that impacted me a lot, though, was when Chamkila and Amarjot are on the funeral pyre and somebody takes pictures of their corpses. The film then interjects that scene with actual pictures of the dead couple taken from the same angle. It hit home for me that this was, in fact, a true story of a man who truly wanted to sing despite all the threats he was receiving. He loved his wife, to the point where his last words were about concern for Amarjot, who had been shot before his eyes (“Babbi, tenu ki hoya?”). But more importantly, Chamkila was a man who revolutionized modern Punjabi music in his short life.
The dialogue, written by Imtiaz Ali and Sajid Ali, stayed true to the Punjabi language. While most of the film was in Hindi, the parts where Diljit and Parineeti were singing Chamkila’s Punjabi songs and it was translated in Hindi on screen was a genius idea to people who may not be familiar with the language. However I did see a lot of discourse about Parineeti not having a lot of dialogue in the film. On further research, though, I found that it was purely in-character for Parineeti not to talk so much, since Amarjot wasn’t a talkative individual anyway.
A.R. Rehman, the genius that he is, composed the music for this film. The soundtrack itself was described to be very Broadway-esque, which is the vibe I immediately got, especially with Baaja. The lyrics, by Irshad Kamil, are so poetic (as seen in Vida Karo) and even subtly include double-entendres just like Chamkila without making the songs dirty or cheap (as seen in Naram Kalja). Sidenote: it was so nice to hear Mohit Chauhan’s voice again, especially after not hearing him in many mainstream Bollywood movies anymore.
Also, I would just like to say that Alka Yagnik and Richa Sharma are the highlights of the soundtrack. ARR is possibly the only person who can make Alka sing like that for “Naram Kalja” and I honestly appreciate how fresh she sounds and how the soundtrack in general adapted to our modern times while using traditional instruments in some form. Here’s my list of songs:
Naram Kalja Vida Karo Ishq Mitaye
Also, here’s a Chamkila and Amarjot song I enjoyed that was included in the movie:
Pehle Lalkare Naal
The movie is 146 minutes long (2 hours and 26 minutes). Stream it on Netflix, grab a snack and enjoy!

Unveiling Punjab's Past: Insights into Amar Singh Chamkila's Life and Death
Hey music aficionados and history buffs! Today, let's journey back to the vibrant yet tumultuous era of 1980s Punjab, where the echoes of folk melodies mingled with the echoes of violence and chaos. At the heart of this captivating yet tragic narrative stands the legendary folk singer, Amar Singh Chamkila.
Director Kabir Singh Chowdhry takes us on a riveting exploration of Chamkila's life and legacy in his groundbreaking film, Mehsampur. Through meticulous research and firsthand accounts, Chowdhry unravels the mysteries surrounding Chamkila's untimely demise, shedding light on a dark chapter in Punjab's history.
Chamkila's story is one of talent, passion, and defiance against societal norms. With his soul-stirring ballads and fearless lyrics, he captivated audiences and challenged the status quo. However, his meteoric rise to fame was cut short on that fateful day in 1988, when masked assailants gunned him down alongside his wife, Amarjot, in the town of Mehsampur.
As Chowdhry delves deeper into Chamkila's world, he unveils startling revelations about the singer's murder. In a candid interview with Hindustan Times, Chowdhry disclosed his encounters with Chamkila's old acquaintances, including one of his alleged killers. While the details remain shrouded in ambiguity, Chowdhry offers insight into the chaotic and lawless atmosphere of 1980s Punjab, where vendettas were settled with violence and hired guns roamed the streets.
In Mehsampur, Chowdhry blurs the lines between reality and fiction, employing a unique blend of documentary-style storytelling and cinematic reenactments. By incorporating Chamkila's old associates into the narrative, Chowdhry provides a nuanced portrayal of the singer's life, infused with raw emotion and gritty realism.
Yet, amidst the intrigue and drama, one question lingers: Why has Chamkila's murder remained unsolved for decades? Chowdhry speculates on the myriad factors at play, from political pressures to the sheer complexity of the case. However, the truth remains elusive, buried beneath layers of speculation and hearsay.
As we delve into Chamkila's world through the lens of Mehsampur, we are confronted with the harsh realities of Punjab's past. It's a story of passion, betrayal, and the relentless pursuit of artistic expression in the face of adversity.
So, join us on this captivating journey as we unravel the enigma of Amar Singh Chamkila, a true icon of Punjab's folk music legacy. Let's honor his memory and celebrate his indelible imprint on the cultural tapestry of India.
Until next time, keep the music alive and the memories of legends like Chamkila burning bright!

KNOW THE DARK TRUTH OF CELEBRITY WORLD
Bollywood stars are also human beings like ordinary people. A tide of emotions rises in them as well. These stars, who meet each other warmly at parties, are in fact so surrounded by a feeling of competition, jealousy, and insecurity that the pressure of this keeps pushing them towards depression. To avoid this, they resort to liquor or medications, due to which this depression gets worse, due to which it is difficult to handle both success and failure. Last year, on June 15, 2020, when the news of the suicide of film artist Sushant Singh Rajput was published, the entire nation was stunned. . What happened due to which the star, while moving towards this stardom of the film world, taking his life by hanging.
Why only one Sushant, who lives a luxurious life on screen, shows romance with beautiful heroines, Superman who beats ten-ten in one punch and makes millions crazy with his style, charging crores for each film. There is so much in the real-life and reel life of the Venus of Bollywood which is shocking.
Deepika Padukone, the heroine of films like 'Piku', 'Chhapaak', 'Chennai Express, 'Bajirao Mastani', has also been a victim of clinical depression, which she disclosed at the World Economic Forum in the year 2020. Guru Dutt, a well-known director of the Indian film industry in the seventies, producer of 'Pyaasa', 'CID' and 'Kaagaz Ke Phool' and the best actor, was found dead in his apartment in 1964. The reason being, he had ended his life by consuming a lot of alcohol and sleeping pills.
Synonymous with success, director Manmohan Desai, who gave films like 'Amar Akbar Anthony', 'Coolie' and 'Mard', died in 1994 at his Gir village home. No one could understand why the 19-year-old Divya Bharti, who had made crores of people crazy in the films 'Shola Aur Shabnam' and 'Deewana', jumped off the fifth floor or Silk Smitha, the sex bomb of the South. Why did he embrace death?
Talking about some more names in this, MTV's famous VJ Nafisa Joseph, Jiah Khan, who has worked with Amitabh and Aamir, Indian TV industry's girl bride Pratyusha Banerjee, TV actor Kushal Punjabi, as many names as can be taken. Can't believe that this can also be the face of this glam world. There are many reasons behind these famous names of the Bollywood industry full of glamour, fame, and glitz going into depression or suicide in the final stage of depression. Let us try to take a look at them-

Sahil Gehlot Married Nikki Yadav In 2020, Killed Her For 2nd Marriage: Cops
Police have also recovered the wedding certificates of Sahil and Nikki during the accused's police remand.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0e9f2fd7ad9f70bb60eef91dbb2f78b5/a5bb554b24eed375-66/s540x810/41a3ef49293dbc2f5ac43c36389d3603f61033ae.jpg)
New Delhi: Nikki Yadav, the 23-year-old Delhi woman who was strangled to death by her boyfriend with a charging cable and stuffed in a fridge, was married to the accused since 2020, police sources said today in a major development in the case. Earlier, it was reported that the man, 24-year-old Sahil Gehlot, had murdered her on the day of his wedding to another woman after a three-hour fight over the issue. Sahil had hidden his plans to marry another woman from Nikki Yadav.
Sources said Sahil, a pharma graduate, and Nikki, got married in October 2020 at the Arya Samaj temple in Uttar Pradesh's Noida. Sahil's family was reportedly unhappy with the marriage and wanted her gone.
Delhi Police's Crime Branch yesterday arrested Sahil's father, Virendra Singh, brothers Anish and Naveen, and friends Lokesh and Amar after they found out that Sahil's family and friends were involved in the murder.
Sahil's family fixed his marriage with another woman in December 2022, and Nikki was kept in the dark.
Police have also recovered the wedding certificates of Sahil and Nikki during the accused's police remand.
Police sources said Sahil's cousin brother and a friend helped him hide Nikki's body in a fridge at his family-owned dhaba (restaurant), just 700 meters from his parents' home.
Some reports said Nikki had threatened to file a case if he married someone else. Other reports claimed she had booked tickets to Goa and was pressing him to go with her.
According to the police, Sahil deleted his chats from the phones of his cousin and friend, who helped him hide the body.
The murder, which surfaced on what is widely celebrated as Valentine's Day, has chilling similarities to the murder of Shraddha Walkar last year by her boyfriend Aaftab Poonawalla, who chopped up the body into several pieces and disposed of them bit by bit, keeping the parts in his fridge for weeks.
The police tracked down Sahil after a neighbour reported Nikki missing. Her family lives in Jhajjar in Haryana.
Police sources claim Sahil "confessed" during his questioning and revealed where he had hidden Nikki's body.
Sahil's new bride has reportedly gone back to her parents' home.
Nikki's uncle Praveen Yadav has demanded that the case be heard in a fast track court, and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hang the killer.
Her father, Sunil Yadav, has also demanded the death penalty for Sahil.
