Stree 2 Box Office: Horror-comedy fares well in Week 4 and will rise again this weekend.

Stree 2 had a very excellent fourth week, with impressive collections throughout. In fact, from Monday to Wednesday, they remained consistently above Rs. 3 crores, and while it would have been even better if the situation had continued on Thursday, the trending indicated that the film would fall below Rs. 3 crores for the first time in its run.

This is exactly what happened when Rs. 2.90 crores arrived on Thursday. Unlike the previous week, when weekday trending was higher, the film followed a more predictable trajectory this week. Still, the collections are generally quite good, and while the film will remain under the Rs. 3 crore mark today (unless the BOGO offer results in a sudden surge), the numbers will rise again tomorrow and the day after, and the total may well exceed the Rs. 5 crore mark.

The film has now grossed Rs. 564.18 crores and is only Rs. 20 crores short from surpassing the Jawan (Hindi) lifetime of Rs. 584 crores. More than half of this figure will be exceeded by the conclusion of this weekend, and it will very certainly be the highest-grossing Hindi release of all time by the end of the fifth week.

and so we discover the limits of Amar Kaushik's "feminism." has about as coherent a message about the patriarchy as the Barbie movie, which is a damn shame considering i genuinely think the first one is shockingly feminist (and also is actually feminist, unlike the rest of this universe which basically just forces some bullshit message at the end that doesn't track with their narrative construction at all), some industry quirks aside. fortunately for Amar he's got a much more effective movie to cover up a lot of those holes for the most part. Amar Kaushik is the new Kevin Feige, and with actually great directorial chops to boot. this is horror The Avengers, actually, and it's damn fucking good at it. finally this cinematic universe proves it's valuable and has worth as a universe. if i didn't see this in a theater, i'd be screaming "PEAK" at the screen every fifteen seconds, at least for the first two acts, even if it's pretty derivative in the plot (though they're obviously extremely aware of this, given one specific scene and casting choice). the third act,,,, well. it stumbles a lot. but it mostly lands good enough for me to continue to be invested in the universe. the rare horror sequel that's almost better than the original, and has to actually reckon with the consequences of redeeming your "villain". unfortunately that's also where it kinda falls apart, politically and narratively. let's get into it.
