I had this idea from a dream back in October.
I wanted a way to portray how much power Cyberlife holds over Connor's existence - but also all other androids as well. I mean, I'm sure they know they are alive, they just choose not to care. They shut Connor off as simply as Amanda cuts off that rose in the mission successful machine Connor ending. I also HC that Connor is always afraid to die, no matter if he remains a machine or not, he just deliberately chooses to suppress these thoughts and feelings if he remains a machine.
Anyway, I'm making this too deep- 💀

Unfortunately, we have no choice but to work with him... What do you think is the best approach?
I will adapt to his personality. It is in the best interest of the investigation that I avoid conflict and try to accommodate his psychology. :]

Thing I enjoy about Connor's narrative that actually shows us about how Cyberlife truly sees deviants:
Connor keeps telling Hank that deviants are not alive. Androids, himself included, are just machines. Deviants are faulty machines, etc
Meanwhile, Connor completely relies on deviants having emotions. His actions don't match his words
He can and will emotionally manipulate Daniel. He will deceive that Traci. He will torture the androids at Strafford Tower and rely on the deviant's fear
Connor is a manipulator on Cyberlife's leash. He himself believes in what he says– deviants are faulty machines that emulate human emotions. They don't have feelings. He just can't stop exploiting this particular weakness
He may believe everything Amanda tells him, that he too doesn't feel anything, but it's more than clear that Cyberlife's knows this is all a lie. The very first clear proof is the way Amanda evokes fear on him, on purpose, like she's training a dog. All Cyberlife wants is to muffle down this whole ordeal, and the fastest the better

conversations that almost certainly happened
CyberLife guy 1: so we have an enormous amount of problems caused by the fact that we are building killer robots
CyberLife guy 2: Yes.
CyberLife guy 1: and the only solution we can think of is building a killer robot
CyberLife guy 2: Mhm.
CyberLife guy 1: Which is fully noncompliant with the AAA, and can shoot a gun and kill humans without deviating.
CyberLife guy 2: This all makes sense so far, yeah.
CyberLife guy 1: ok so how do are we keeping the solution robot from becoming another problem robot and also from murdering us.
CyberLife guy 2: Oh, easy, the robot has a mom.
CyberLife guy 1: What? Okay, like a, like someone its programmed to obey and report to?
CyberLife guy 2: Oh no, it can totally lie to her and decide whether or not her orders are important for itself
CyberLife guy 1: Okay, so in what way is this controlling the RK?
CyberLife guy 2: Well thats his mom and he loves her and doesn't want to disappoint her, so he's constantly walking on eggshells and trying to guess what she wants, because if she gets angry at him she can kill him, but he also keeps coming back because she keeps telling him he's the specialest boy.
CyberLife guy 1: How can he love her? Also, how can she be disappointed? You are describing a failsafe that relies almost entirely on our ability to induce a weird abuse dynamic on machines that do not feel anger, fear, or self-esteem, or ego.
CyberLife guy 2: Oh, you're new here, I forgot. The androids are people. We sell people. It's trafficking.
CyberLife guy 1: ...
CyberLife guy 2: Yeah, no, we've known this for years. Kamski knows, we definitely know. We just don't care.
CyberLife guy 1: ...
CyberLife guy 2: A trillion dollars.
CyberLife guy 1: No way. We cannot do this. I'm out. I'm whistleblowing on the whole industry, I'm going to the news.
CyberLife guy 2: that is such a shame honestly. I'm going to miss you in Zoom meetings, you were always such a cut-up. [into a radio] Amanda? Yeah, another one. Yeah, I know, third one this month. Ninth floor.
CyberLife guy 1: What? Why are you talking to her? I've never heard of anybody going to the press except to tell them that deviants are a malfunction. What happened to the other two??
CyberLife guy 2: Don't worry about it.
Elevator dings open.
Connor, in the elevator, already calmly loading a gun: Hello. Going down?

connor idea: after escaping the zen garden during markus' speech, that is unfortunately not the last he sees of it. the connection between him and the external server of the zen garden keeps getting rebuilt and he gets pulled in and retrapped over and over, posing a threat to both connor as he nearly freezes to death inside and everyone around him when he's not in control.
done with the stress, he disconnects himself from the internet. weeks pass, and... it's stopped. he's fine. finally, he has an escape. but he goes back online for just a moment, just to send a message or something equally small, and gets immediately pulled back in again. it's relentless- every moment he's online is another second used to pull him under again. he completely turns off his internet connection until further notice, making him incapable of using it for anything- no info searches, no instant-identification, no software updates that might be rolling out, nothing.
he's utterly isolated. no android was ever meant to be permanently removed from the internet. he feels blinded, like one of his essential senses was just cut off. humans grew up learning things, but androids like him were printed into an adult body and adult mind, given no time to learn- access to the world's wealth of information was how they functioned despite that. connor loses this access, while all other androids just continue on, knowing things instantly that he just can't anymore.
of course, there's always phone lines, though. he can still text and call- he can still communicate wirelessly and instantly, like any other android. even if he's lost in terms of information, at least the world isn't completely cut off to him.
but then he finds himself in the garden again anyway.
amanda is too advanced. she IS code, she understands the nonphysical world unlike any other consciousness alive, and she'll twist anything she can into a new access point. absolutely anything is a weakness, and cell service is just another avenue of connection to exploit. connor is forced to disconnect from phone services, too.
one by one, all of his communications are cut off the same way. every little thing is a vulnerability, direct access into his brain. he can't interface with any devices lest the connection between him and its own internet access be exploited. he can't even do bluetooth or short-range transmissions to other androids anymore, whether out of fear or real risk not really mattering anymore. he has to get any software updates he might want or need by going directly to his friends so they can update him manually with no gap a malicious program can slip through.
hell, amanda might not be the only one after such a useful, dangerous tool like him.
he's not a human. he's an android. it's like having limbs cut off. he can't even interface with other androids anymore- despite their advanced protections, it's only a matter of time before his friends' own connections to the internet and anything else will be anything but another risk.
he ends up getting all his connectivity functions physically removed. nothing in him that can receive wireless signals, nothing that can function as any kind of external breach- nothing can get him if those functions can't even be turned on again because they aren't even there. pieces removed until he's as isolated as an '80s desktop computer. despite hesitation he ends up getting his mere ability to interface physically removed too. completely cut off from his own people, his coded mind completely isolated from threat.
his only consolation is getting a cell phone. it's barely a glimpse into what he had before- more of an aid to make up a tiny bit for what he's lost- but at least there's that.
