Why Aluminium Pergolas Are the Best Choice?
Tumblr media
Choosing the perfect pergola for your outdoor space can significantly enhance the aesthetics and functionality of your home. For those living in Dubai, where the climate can be harsh and demanding, selecting a durable and stylish pergola is crucial. Aluminium pergolas have emerged as the top choice for many homeowners. As the top aluminium pergola construction company in Dubai, 800Pergola Company is here to guide you through the benefits of aluminium pergolas and why they stand out as the best option.
Durability and Longevity
One of the most significant advantages of aluminium pergolas is their durability. Aluminium is resistant to rust, corrosion, and the severe weather conditions that are common in Dubai. Unlike wood, which can warp, crack, or rot over time, aluminium maintains its integrity, making it a long-lasting investment. This resilience means less maintenance and more enjoyment of your outdoor space.
Lightweight and Strong
Despite being lightweight, aluminium is incredibly strong. This unique combination makes it easy to install and maneuver while providing robust support for various designs and features. The strength of aluminium pergolas ensures that they can withstand heavy loads, such as climbing plants or hanging lights, without compromising their structure.
Versatility in Design
Aluminium pergolas offer unparalleled versatility in design. They can be customized to match any aesthetic, from sleek and modern to classic and traditional. The material is easy to shape and mold, allowing for intricate designs and a variety of styles. As leading pergola builders in Dubai, we offer a range of aluminium pergola designs to suit your specific needs and preferences.
Customization Options
Aluminium pergolas can be powder-coated in any color, providing a durable and attractive finish that resists fading and chipping. This customization ensures that your pergola complements your home’s exterior and reflects your personal style. Additionally, aluminium pergolas can incorporate modern features such as motorized louvers, LED lighting, and retractable canopies.
Eco-Friendly Choice
In the present day, prioritizing eco-friendly decisions holds greater significance than before. Aluminium is a sustainable material that can be recycled indefinitely without losing its properties. By choosing an aluminium pergola, you are opting for an eco-friendly solution that reduces your carbon footprint. Furthermore, the production of aluminium has a lower environmental impact compared to other materials like steel or PVC.
Cost-Effective
While the initial cost of an aluminium pergola may be higher than other materials, the long-term savings make it a cost-effective choice. The minimal maintenance required for aluminium pergolas translates to lower upkeep costs over the years. Additionally, their durability means you won’t have to worry about frequent replacements or repairs.
Heat Resistance
Dubai’s scorching summers demand materials that can withstand high temperatures without degrading. Aluminium’s natural heat resistance makes it an ideal choice for pergolas in such climates. It does not warp or crack under intense heat, ensuring that your pergola remains in excellent condition year-round.
Enhancing Property Value
Investing in an aluminium pergola can significantly enhance your property’s value. A well-designed pergola adds a touch of luxury and elegance to any outdoor space, making it more attractive to potential buyers. As the best pergola suppliers in Dubai and across UAE, we can help you design and install an aluminium pergola that boosts your home’s market appeal.
Low Maintenance
Aluminium pergolas require very little maintenance compared to their wooden or steel counterparts. They require no frequent painting or staining and can be effortlessly cleaned using soap and water. This low-maintenance aspect is particularly appealing to busy homeowners who want to enjoy their outdoor space without the hassle of constant upkeep.
Safety and Stability
Safety is a paramount concern for any outdoor structure. Aluminium pergolas are non-combustible and provide better fire resistance than wood. Additionally, their sturdy construction ensures stability even in high winds, making them a safe choice for your home.
Resistance to Pests
Unlike wood, aluminium is impervious to termites and other pests. This resistance means you won’t have to worry about insect damage, which can compromise the structure and appearance of your pergola. The peace of mind that comes with knowing your pergola is pest-proof is invaluable.
Aesthetic Appeal
The sleek and modern look of aluminium pergolas adds a contemporary touch to any outdoor space. Whether you prefer a minimalist design or something more elaborate, aluminium can be crafted to meet your aesthetic preferences. The clean lines and smooth finish of aluminium pergolas create a sophisticated and stylish outdoor living area.
Versatility in Applications
Aluminium pergolas are versatile and can be used in various applications, from residential backyards to commercial spaces like restaurants and hotels. Their adaptability makes them a popular choice for creating comfortable and inviting outdoor environments. Whether you need a pergola for shading a patio, creating a garden retreat, or enhancing a poolside area, aluminium pergolas can be tailored to meet your specific needs.
Conclusion
Aluminium pergolas offer a perfect blend of durability, style, and functionality, making them the best choice for homeowners in Dubai. Their numerous benefits, from low maintenance and eco-friendliness to customization and cost-effectiveness, make them an excellent investment for any outdoor space. Enhance Your Outdoor Living with Pergolas: Design Ideas and Tips
Tumblr media
A well-designed pergola can completely transform your outdoor space into a stylish, functional retreat. Whether you want a shady spot to relax or an inviting area for entertaining guests, a pergola offers endless possibilities. From classic timber structures to modern steel or aluminium designs, a pergola can fit any aesthetic and meet your outdoor needs. Here, we'll explore some creative design ideas and practical tips to help you integrate a pergola into your outdoor living space, enhancing both beauty and functionality.
1. Selecting the Best Material for Your Pergola: Timber, Steel, Aluminium, and Polycarbonate
The material you choose for your pergola will determine its appearance, durability, and maintenance needs. Each material brings a unique vibe to your outdoor space, so it’s essential to select the one that complements your design preferences and climate conditions.
Timber Pergolas: Timber is a timeless choice for creating a warm, natural look. Perfect for homes with traditional or rustic aesthetics, timber pergolas blend beautifully with garden landscapes. However, timber requires regular maintenance, such as staining or sealing, to protect it from moisture and rot.
Steel Pergolas: For a more industrial or modern feel, steel pergolas are ideal. They are incredibly durable and weather-resistant, making them a low-maintenance option. Steel structures also offer a sleek, minimalist design that works well in contemporary spaces.
Aluminium Pergolas: Aluminium is another great option for those looking for a lightweight and rust-resistant material. It’s durable, requires little upkeep, and can be powder-coated in various colors to match your home’s exterior. Aluminium is especially beneficial in coastal regions where salty air can cause other metals to corrode.
Polycarbonate Roofing: If you want the option to enjoy the sunlight while still being protected from harmful UV rays, consider adding polycarbonate panels to your pergola roof. Polycarbonate is a transparent or translucent material that allows light to filter through, providing a balance between shade and brightness.
2. Flat Roof or Gable Roof: Which Design Best Suits Your Needs?
Choosing the right roof design for your pergola is crucial in shaping the overall aesthetic and functionality of your outdoor space. The two most common pergola roof designs are the flat roof and the gable roof.
Flat Roof Pergolas: A flat roof design offers a sleek and contemporary look, making it an excellent choice for modern homes. Flat roofs are ideal if you're going for a minimalist vibe. They provide a clean, streamlined appearance that works well in compact spaces, offering a balance of shade and sunlight.
Gable Roof Pergolas: If you want to add a sense of openness and height to your pergola, opt for a gable roof. This design features a pitched roof, which not only looks elegant but also enhances air circulation and offers better drainage for rainwater. A gable roof is perfect for larger spaces and gives your outdoor area a more spacious, inviting feel.
3. Freestanding or Attached Pergolas: Which Works for Your Space?
When designing your pergola, think about how it will fit into your outdoor area. The choice between a freestanding pergola and an attached one can affect the flow and function of your space.
Freestanding Pergolas: A freestanding pergola offers the flexibility to be placed anywhere in your garden or backyard. This makes it a great option if you want to create a designated spot for relaxation, such as over a seating area or a garden path. Freestanding pergolas can also be used as a visual focal point or to create shade in a sunny spot of your yard.
Attached Pergolas: An attached pergola extends your home’s architecture, creating a seamless transition from your indoor space to your outdoor area. This design is perfect for patios or decks and provides a natural extension of your home’s living space. Attached pergolas offer shade and protection right outside your door, making them ideal for outdoor dining or lounging.
4. Maximizing Shade: Trellis Roofs, Polycarbonate Panels, and Vines
If you’re looking to create more shade, there are a few ways you can customize your pergola roof to enhance comfort.
Trellis Roofs: A trellis roof provides partial shade by allowing sunlight to filter through slats. To increase the shade, consider growing climbing plants like wisteria, ivy, or jasmine along the trellis. Over time, these plants will create a lush canopy, adding beauty and natural shade.
Polycarbonate Panels: For a more durable option, polycarbonate panels offer protection from rain and UV rays while still letting light shine through. Polycarbonate roofing is a great choice for those who want to enjoy their pergola in all types of weather, without compromising on brightness.
5. Custom Pergola Designs: Personalize Your Space
If you have a unique vision for your outdoor area, consider going for a custom pergola design. A custom pergola allows you to tailor the structure to your specific needs and style. For example, you can incorporate built-in seating, lighting, or even an outdoor kitchen under the pergola. With a custom design, the possibilities are endless—you can create a space that is perfect for dining, lounging, or entertaining guests.
6. Pergola Kits: A Convenient DIY Solution
For homeowners who prefer a more straightforward approach to pergola construction, pergola kits are a great solution. These kits come with all the necessary materials and instructions, making it easy to install your pergola on your own. Whether you opt for timber, steel, or aluminium, pergola kits provide a cost-effective and time-efficient way to enhance your outdoor space.
7. Gazebo vs. Pergola: Which is Right for You?
While pergolas and gazebos are often used interchangeably, they offer different functions. Gazebos are typically more enclosed and feature a solid roof, providing full protection from the elements. In contrast, pergolas are more open and airy, with a focus on design and partial shade. If you’re looking to add a decorative element to your garden while still enjoying some shade, a pergola is likely the better option.
8. Home Improvements: Boost Your Home’s Value with a Pergola
Adding a pergola is one of the most impactful home improvements you can make. Not only does it expand your outdoor living area, but it also adds visual interest and increases your home’s overall value. Whether you choose a freestanding timber pergola or an attached steel structure, your home will benefit from the added elegance and functionality.
In conclusion, pergolas offer endless possibilities for enhancing your outdoor living space. Whether you’re looking for a ready-made pergola kit or want to invest in a custom design, the right pergola will provide shade, style, and comfort for years to come.

Enhancing Your Garden with a Summer House and Veranda
A summer house with a veranda is a delightful addition to any garden, providing a versatile outdoor living space that can be enjoyed throughout the year. Combining the charm and utility of a summer house with the open, airy feel of a veranda, this structure can serve various purposes, from a cosy retreat to an entertainment area. This article explores the benefits of having a summer house with a veranda, design considerations, and tips for installation and maintenance.
Benefits of a Summer House with a Veranda
1. Extended Living Space
A summer house with a veranda effectively extends your home’s living space into the garden. It creates an ideal spot for relaxation, dining, or socialising, providing shelter and comfort while allowing you to enjoy the outdoors.
2. Year-Round Use
Unlike a simple garden shed or a basic pergola, a summer house with a veranda offers the best of both worlds. The enclosed part of the summer house provides a weather-proof space that can be used in any season, while the veranda offers a shaded outdoor area perfect for warmer months. With appropriate heating and insulation, the summer house can be used even in the colder months.
3. Aesthetic Appeal
A summer house with a veranda can significantly enhance the aesthetic appeal of your garden. Whether you opt for a traditional wooden design or a more contemporary look, this structure can be a charming focal point in your outdoor space. It can be customised to match the style of your home and garden, blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
4. Versatility
The combination of a summer house and veranda is incredibly versatile. It can serve multiple functions, such as a home office, a guest room, a playroom for children, or a tranquil retreat. The veranda can be used for outdoor dining, a seating area, or a space to display plants and garden décor.
Design Considerations
1. Choosing the Location
Selecting the right location for your summer house with a veranda is crucial. Ideally, it should be placed in a part of the garden that offers a good view and receives plenty of sunlight. Consider the proximity to your main house and the flow of movement between the two spaces.
2. Style and Materials
The style of your summer house and veranda should complement the overall design of your home and garden. Traditional summer houses often feature wooden structures with pitched roofs, while contemporary designs might use sleek lines and modern materials like aluminium and glass.
For the veranda, consider using materials that provide durability and low maintenance. Wood is a popular choice for its natural beauty, but it requires regular upkeep. Alternatively, composite materials and treated wood can offer a more durable option with less maintenance.
3. Size and Layout
Determine the size of the summer house and veranda based on the available space in your garden and your intended use. A larger structure can accommodate more functions but requires more space and a higher budget. Plan the layout carefully to ensure it meets your needs, whether it's a spacious open-plan area or a series of smaller rooms.
4. Roofing Options
The roofing of your summer house and veranda should be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Common options include felt, shingles, and metal roofing for the summer house, while the veranda can have a glass or polycarbonate roof to allow natural light. Ensure the roofing material provides adequate protection from the elements and complements the design of the structure.
Installation Process
1. Foundation Preparation
A solid foundation is essential for the stability and longevity of your summer house with a veranda. Depending on the size and design, this may involve concrete slabs, a wooden base, or a more elaborate foundation. Properly prepare the ground by levelling it and ensuring adequate drainage.
2. Building the Structure
The construction process begins with assembling the framework for both the summer house and the veranda. Start with the walls of the summer house, followed by the roof and veranda structure. It’s advisable to follow the manufacturer’s instructions or hire a professional to ensure the structure is built correctly and safely.
3. Installing Windows and Doors
Windows and doors are installed once the main structure is in place. Opt for double-glazed windows for better insulation and energy efficiency. Ensure all openings are properly sealed to prevent drafts and moisture ingress.
4. Finishing Touches
Add finishing touches such as interior and exterior paint or stain, flooring, and any additional features like lighting and heating. Furnish the summer house and veranda according to their intended use, creating a cosy and functional space.
Maintenance Tips
1. Regular Cleaning
Keep your summer house and veranda clean by regularly sweeping the floors, wiping down surfaces, and cleaning the windows. This helps maintain the appearance and longevity of the structure.
2. Wood Treatment
If your summer house and veranda are made of wood, apply a protective treatment every few years to prevent rot, decay, and insect damage. This may involve staining, painting, or applying a wood preservative.
3. Roof Maintenance
Inspect the roof periodically for any signs of damage or wear. Clear any debris, such as leaves and branches, that may accumulate and ensure gutters and downspouts are free of blockages.
4. Seasonal Checks
Conduct seasonal checks to identify and address any potential issues before they become major problems. This includes checking for leaks, inspecting the foundation, and ensuring doors and windows are properly sealed.
Conclusion
A summer house with a veranda is a valuable addition to any garden, offering a versatile and aesthetically pleasing space that enhances outdoor living. From extending your living area to providing a year-round retreat, the benefits are numerous. By carefully planning the design, choosing the right materials, and following proper installation and maintenance practices, you can enjoy this charming structure for many years to come. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful sanctuary or a lively entertainment area, a summer house with a veranda is the perfect solution for making the most of your outdoor space.

The Rise of the Pergola
By Shaun Cartwright - National Sales Manager Domestic & Residential Systems
Tumblr media
Outdoor living areas have experienced significant growth following the pandemic, as the trend of staying at home, unwinding and hosting gatherings in the convenience of our own outdoor space has become increasingly popular.
As the typical average UK garden spans 188 square metres, which is in fact the same size as a regulation tennis court, our outdoor spaces are proving to be one of our most prized possessions. Given the abundance of additional living area this offers, it is hardly surprising that our gardens are evolving into more inviting spaces, mirroring the comfort of indoor living. Advancements in materials have opened up a world of possibilities when it comes to sustainable outdoor textiles, rugs, lounge sets, and lighting that can be just as stylish outdoors as they are indoors. However, it is important to be prepared for the unpredictable Great British weather. Awnings not only provide shade on sunny days but also create a new outdoor room ambiance. Integrated lighting and heating options allow you to enjoy your outdoor space even in the evening.
Tumblr media
A more substantial outdoor canopy is another great option. With the choice of a louvered, retractable or flat solid roof, a canopy can be freestanding or fixed against existing walls and will remain relatively weathertight when closed. Fixed roofs offer simplicity, with the bonus of being able to offer shelter in all but the most inclement weather, whereas louvered and retractable designs allow control over how much light and openness you want on sunnier days. These options also work well when attached to your house, allowing you to open the roof at the press of a button to draw more light back into your interior space and offer a seamless transition between inside and outside.
These freestanding structures are known as ‘pergolas’ and have a long history. Originating in Ancient Egypt as ornamental features providing shade from the sun, nowadays, they serve similar functions while also providing opportunities to expand living areas. Garden pergolas can be placed in various locations in the garden to capture the best aspect or midday sun.
Tumblr media
Aluminium is an excellent material of choice for a freestanding pergola, or lean-to canopies. With its high resistance to corrosion and availability in a wide range of finishes and colours, a structure can be designed to blend in perfectly with any garden. Aluminium also provides excellent structural capabilities negating the need for any further supporting structural materials. Today’s pergola is an incredibly versatile solution for covering small or expansive areas. It serves as a stylish addition that seamlessly aligns with many contemporary or traditional construction trends.
The pergola is not only beneficial for single-family homes as part of terrace or garden enhancements, but also for commercial structures. It serves as a modern and functional roofing element for outdoor spaces in such places as cafes, restaurants and office complexes. With the option of additional side screens and sliding glass panels, the pergola can be adapted to be used all year round, regardless of the weather conditions.
Tumblr media
Aluprof provide two pergola systems, the premium MB-OpenSky 140 and the MB-OpenSky 120.
The concept design of both ‘MB-OpenSky Pergola’ system allows for the installation of Aluprof’s ‘SkyRoll’ side screens or ‘MB-OpenSlide’ sliding glass panels, offering the opportunity to create a unique outdoor space. Additionally, the pergola can be customised with LED lighting that won't interfere with the roof slats and optional infrared heating units. The lighting design includes an LED strip on the roof slats, a spotlight, and extra lighting around the upper edge of the structure.
The roof structure consists of rotating adjustable slats and a mechanism to change their angle from 0º to 135º. The slats have custom seals to protect against rain and the posts contain a concealed drainage system to efficiently direct water to a rainwater drain or soak away. Tests confirm that for structures measuring 6 metres in length, 4 metres in width and 3 metres in height, the maximum permissible snow load is 200 kg/m², equivalent to approximately 1m height of snow and a simultaneous wind load of around 59 mph.
There are two system versions to select from, a free-standing arrangement and a wall-mounted design. The wall-mounted version is supplied with custom-designed brackets for wall installation depending on the substrate being fixed to. Both freestanding and wall mounted systems allow for maximum dimensions of 7 metres in length, 5 metres in width, and 3 metres in height per section to be achieved. Several sections can be combined to cover large areas of outdoor space in commercial situations.
The concept of outdoor living is rapidly gaining recognition in the UK as the climate changes and offers significant opportunities from home improvement companies to widen their product portfolio for homeowners wishing to explore options for their outdoor living spaces.
Further information about the wide range of systems on offer and specification support is available through the company’s website at aluprof.co.uk or contact Aluprof’s UK & Ireland’s head office in Altrincham by phoning +44 (0) 161 941 4005.
