not to be a bitch, but what DO you do if someone breaks into your house besides call the cops?
If someone breaks into your house, what exactly are the cops going to do? Take a report?
Call your insurance if anything is missing.
Call someone to come stay with you for a few days as you try your best to emotionally recover.
Install more security, like cameras and locks.
If there is an actual crime in progress, then yeah, sure, call the cops.
I had to call the cops when I got into an accident the other night. That’s proper procedure under the law right now.
Don’t go out of your way to risk serious trouble to not follow the law just because you hate the establishment.
I got a ticket and I’m going to have to go to court to dispute it, but following the way the law works is better and safer for me than going “actually you know what fuck the government”.
My mom told me “If you don’t show up they’ll probably put a warrant out for your arrest. I’m sure you’d think that’s cool, but it’s not.” And I said “Why would I think that’s cool?”
Why would I want to put a target on my head?
Yeah, if you see someone shooting up a college, call the police. If there is an active crime, call the police.
However, there ARE alternatives when it’s not an active crime.
If you have information about a past crime (aka, someone told you they killed someone, you found a body that’s already been murdered, etc.) CALL CRIMESTOPPERS.
If you have to call 911 (like I had to last week) they’re going to ask you if you need fire, medical, or police. Because we were dealing with a medical emergency, only the paramedics came. No police.
To say that the police have never done anything good ever is to oversimplify things. You can want to overthrow a system but still need to work in it for the time being. You, random tumblr user, are not going to be the single downfall of the police. So if you need to use them, use them. But treat it as a last resort. If NOTHING else can be done or it is an EMERGENCY, then call the police. And even then, don’t expect them to actually do anything (I’m looking at you, Uvalde).

Daniel Entwistle
Seven-year-old Daniel Entwistle disappeared from near his home at Copperfield Ave, Great Yarmouth on Saturday 3 May 2003 - a May Bank Holiday weekend. His parents Paula and David became concerned later that evening when he failed to return for tea and started to look for him, enlisting the assistance of friends and neighbours. The local community rallied round and soon a major investigation was underway with police seeking help from numerous agencies specialising in search and rescue techniques.
Daniel was identified on the CCTV at Blencowes, a local convenience store nearby to his home at around 5.05pm that day. There were other potential sightings of him during that day including being with a group of other boys seen playing near to the river at Trinity Quay at around 3.30pm. His little red BMX bike was found abandoned near to the river close to Trinity Quay in the early hours of the next morning and sonar examinations of the riverbed soon formed a major part of the inquiry.
Daniel was described as being 3' 2" tall, of thin build with light brown cropped short hair. He had a pale complexion and a strong Northern accent.  Daniel was last seen wearing a blue Adidas T shirt with striped sleeves and an Adidas motif on the chest, blue tracksuit bottoms and grey coloured training shoes. Despite the huge police search involving many people and other agencies no trace of Daniel was ever found.
Daniel’s disappearance officers have conducted more than 2,500 lines of enquiry and taken more than 580 statements. In the last six years officers have conducted further searches in Great Yarmouth and received several new pieces of information which have all been investigated. However, Daniel remains a missing person to this day.
Officers continue to appeal for new information which could help solve this case.

Unforgotten | Ep 23: HHardwick KStubbs JEntrekin RRobinson JSims
This week we are extending our visit from last week in Jefferson County where we’re sharing a few cases due to their either lack of information or little progress. Joel Hardwick brought us the curiously unsolved shooting death of his brother Heulon Hardwick that occurred 26 years ago. In 2014, Kierra Stubs, mother of 2, disappears after a seemingly harmless meet-up with an acquaintance to get her car breaks done. Ramondus Robinson visited with his father, later went to a club, and then, after leaving with 2 men in the early morning hours of May 23, 2019, he vanished. Joseph Entrekin checked out of a treatment facility in March of 2021 and nearly immediately after, while his mother was with him on his cell phone listening, was chased by unknown persons and never seen again. And a very bizarre case of a 14-year-old child, Jason Sims, whom almost no one seems to know ever existed, who was reported missing in 2015, but truthfully, it’s not known when he disappeared.
If you have any information regarding these cases, please reach out to the following contacts
For Huelon’s case, please contact Birmingham PD’s Homicide Division at 205-254-1764

The cars, a BMW 4 Series and a dark grey Seat Cooper Leon, were stolen along with a small amount of cash and bank cards at around 3am on Sunday from a property on Fallow Deer Lawn.
Police pursued the cars into the Wolverhampton area but were unable to apprehend the drivers or recover the vehicles.
Officers say access was gained through a dog flap on a side garage door before an internal garage door was used to access the property itself.
“We attended and pursued the cars into the Wolverhampton area but they remain outstanding,” a spokesperson said.
“An increased police presence is being maintained in the Newport area. Anyone who may have seen, or captured on dash cam, the incident or the cars being driven or offered for sale is asked to please get in touch.”
Anyone with information should email [email protected] quoting reference 22/110942/22.

Demakia Phinizee vanished at the age of 26 on October 12th, 2007. At the time of her disappearance, Demakia was had just become a veteran. She had recently completed five years in the U.S. Army, and had started working as a security guard at the Fillmore Center—an alternative school located in Tupelo, Mississippi. Demakia was seen dropping somebody off at the school before driving away in her red Pontiac Grand Am (pictured right). She never returned home to her three children and has never been seen or heard from again.
Later that evening, Demakia’s car was found parked at the Warfield Apartments on Jackson Street in Tupelo. Witnesses reportedly saw the vehicle entering the complex at a high speed rate. After it was parked, the witnesses saw an African-American male wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans getting out of car’s driver seat before running behind the apartment building. Said male has never been identified.
Demakia remains missing today, and there has been very little information released about the investigation. Early on, it was revealed that police reportedly have no suspects or persons of interest in her case. Despite the suspicious incident with her car, Demakia’s case is not being investigated as a crime; but just as a missing persons case. However, Demakia’s family members do not believe she would voluntarily abandon her children or stay out of touch with her loved ones. Northeast Mississippi Crimestoppers has taken over the investigation into Demakia’s disapearance. If you have any information that could lead to her whereabouts, please contact them at 1-800-773-8477.

This horrifying picture shows a flight attendant and her girlfriend covered in blood after a gang of men attacked them when they refused to kiss for them.
The apparently homophobic attack happened on a London bus as the couple returned home from an evening out last month. Ryanair worker Melania Geymonat, 28, from Uruguay, was left with a suspected broken nose while girlfriend Chris, from the US, was also beaten up. Melania, who lives in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, said they were sat at the front on the top deck because they enjoyed the novelty of the double decker bus. However, during the journey she claims a gang of young men behind them saw they were a couple and started to demand they kiss while making crude sexual gestures.
Tumblr media
Campaign group Stonewall pointed out that homophobic attacks were on the rise. They said that 16% of lesbian, gay and bisexual people had experienced a hate crime or incident in 2016. That compared to 9% in 2013 – a rise of 78%.
Director of Campaigns, Policy and Research at Stonewall, Laura Russell, said: "This attack is an upsetting reminder of how much we still have to do for LGBT equality. It’s tempting to think that in 2019, we are safe from attacks like these, and indeed we all should be. But sadly, this isn’t the reality.”
They said government research showed two-thirds of LGBT people avoided holding hands with their partner for fear of attack. They added that everyone needed to support the LGBT community.
Ms Russell added: “We need people who believe in equality to take action and to come out for LGBT people. If you want a society where everyone feels safe, do something about it today and support LGBT charities, communities and your LGBT friends and family.”
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they had started an investigation into the homophobic attack against Melania and Chris.
A spokesperson said: ‘Police are appealing for witnesses and information after two women were assaulted and robbed in a homophobic attack on a bus in Camden. ‘The incident happened at approximately 02:30hrs on Thursday, 30 May after the two women, both aged in their 20s, boarded a N31 bus in West Hampstead.
“As they sat on the top deck they were approached by a group of four males who began to make lewd and homophobic comments to them.
“The women were then attacked and punched several times before the males ran off the bus. A phone and bag were stolen during the assault.
“Both women were taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries.” Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information is asked to contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD737/30May.
Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Transport for London (TfL) said ‘this sickening attack is utterly unacceptable.’ Siwan Hayward, Director of Compliance, Policing and On-Street Services at TfL, said: “Homophobic behaviour and abuse is a hate crime and won’t be tolerated on our network. All of our customers have the right to travel without fear of verbal or physical assault and we are working with the police to stamp out this behaviour on our transport network. We will do all we can to support the police investigation of this incident.”

Michelle Bettles
Michelle Bettles was 22 years old when she was murdered. Michelle operated as a street prostitute and was last seen in the red light district of Norwich during the early hours of Thurs 28 and Fri 29 March 2002 Easter weekend.
Michelle unusually had not kept a pre-arranged appointment with a regular client of hers. They had arranged to meet close to her home address in the Dereham Road area of Norwich but she never kept the appointment.
CCTV footage shows Michelle walking along St Benedict's Street towards the city centre at 8.20 pm that night. Clearly, for whatever reason, she had never intended to keep the appointment with the regular client since she was heading in the opposite direction to their pre-arranged meeting.
There was a series of sightings of Michelle in various locations in the red light district of Norwich by people that knew her, the last being at about midnight.
On the morning of 31 March 2002, Michelle's body was found by a local resident in woodland by the side of a country track known as Rush Meadow Road in Scarning, near Dereham. She had been strangled. This is around 20 miles from the Red Light District area of Norwich.
A murder investigation was launched but the killer was never identified. The case remains unsolved.
Appeal for new information continues to be a key point to help solve this murder. It is almost 20 years since Michelle was killed and some people may not have been prepared to come forward to speak to the police about what they know of this case.

Kevin Dundon; Missing on a Ferry
Kevin Dundon, from Essex, was aged 22 when he went missing while on a vessel returning to Felixstowe from Zeebrugge in Belgium, on 21 September 1980. Kevin had stayed with his brother Tom in Ipswich the night before he went to work on the Viking Viscount.
Kevin was employed by shipping company Townsend Thoresen.  He had only started working on this particular ferry three days before he went missing and his duties included washing crockery in the ship’s galley.
The Viking Viscount set sail from Felixstowe to Zeebrugge at approximately 9am on Sunday 21 September 1980, with 86 crew members aboard. There were 605 passengers on board, many of which were large organised groups of coach parties.
It was recorded at the time that the crossing took around five hours, with the ship docking in Zeebrugge for some two hours, before beginning the return journey to Felixstowe at approximately 4pm.
In the periods when he was not working, Kevin was reported to have spent time in the staff mess room, which was frequented by various members of the crew throughout the day, along with some passengers who had been invited in as guests.
Witness testimony from Kevin’s colleagues state that at around 6pm that evening, he was seen working at a sink in the ‘plate room’ of the galley. The last confirmed sightings of Kevin are at around 6.30pm when he is believed to have been seen exiting the galley through a door which could have taken him to either the toilets or the deck.
The position of the ferry at this time was approximately 26 miles off the Suffolk coast and an estimated one mile south of the Galloper lightvessel, which was one of a number of static lighthouse ships anchored around the UK.
At around 6.50pm it was noticed that Kevin had not returned to the ‘plate room’ and so an announcement was made over the public address system for him to return. When he still hadn’t returned by 7.30pm, a number of further announcements were made for him to return and searches began to take place.
The ferry docked at Felixstowe just before 8.45pm and all the passengers disembarked. At around 9pm the ship’s master instigated further searches.
Emergency services were informed that Kevin was missing at 10.45pm, with HM Coast Guard then commencing a ‘man overboard’ search.
The Viking Viscount left Felixstowe for Zeebrugge again at 11pm and, along with three other ships, searched the waters in the vicinity of the Galloper lightvessel until approximately 1.30am the following morning, but Kevin was not located and his body has never been found.
A missing person investigation was subsequently launched by Suffolk Constabulary and more than 30 witness statements were taken from people who had been on board the ferry and may have come into contact with Kevin, with the vast majority of these enquiries involving crew members.
However, no definitive answers or evidence as to what happened to Kevin was ever found, and his status has remained as missing for four decades.
Andy Guy, the Major Crime Review and Unsolved Case Manager for Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies, said: “It is highly unlikely that Kevin was still on the ship when it docked at Felixstowe. I believe there are individuals who were on that ferry that know what happened to Kevin, but have not previously told us. Kevin’s parents died without knowing what happened to their son, but there are three brothers who deserve to be given some answers and closure about the fate of their sibling.”
Anyone who believes they have information about Kevin Dundon’s disappearance, is asked to contact the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Crime Review and Unsolved Case Team on: 01953 423819, or by emailing: [email protected]
Alternatively, contact the charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via their online form: www.crimestoppers-uk.org
