#Also. Caine puts them in the Cellar because he doesn’t know what to do with them. So if Queenie’s the first he doesn’t know that yet.

so what’s sadder
Queenie being the first abstracted person in the Circus. She has no idea what’s going on, adding to any stress and fear she’s feeling. Kinger finds her and has no idea what’s happened — also feeling fear & confusion — but finds it in himself to see her as her, not some monster. They spent time together, both acclimating and calming one another, until ultimately Caine takes her.
Queenie not being the first person abstracted within the Circus. As soon as the glitches start she knows what’s coming. Maybe Kinger knows, maybe she keeps it secret until she can’t. Kinger sees her fully abstracted, both knowing full well Caine will be there soon to put her in the Cellar. They spend their last minutes together quietly trying to comfort one another and accepting the approaching end as best they can.

Reaction to reader abstracting
A/n: the first one I do of them is the most depressing thing
Tumblr media
Pomni: She’s already not doing great. So to you, the only thing holding her down while being her abstract is fucking bad. I mean it would be either way (unless the abstract free theory is right.) She probably would isolate herself for at least a week. She would also be very hesitant to befriend more people.
Jax: One of the few times he is very open with his emotions. Kinda hard not to be when your partner might as well as died. Afterward, he might try to joke around. Claiming he didn’t care as much as he did. But there's a noticeable decline in his mood. The main thing is that he doesn’t play as many pranks on people :/.
Ragatha: Might abstract herself. She is clearly not doing as great as she's leading on. This might be her breaking point. If not she’s not as there as she usually is. Can’t bring herself to be the shoulder people lean on anymore.
Gangle: Girl just collapses. Mainly out of sadness but also fear. She is very fragile (both emotionally and physically.) And your existence helped her be more confident. Even when you weren’t there it helped overall. But now you won’t ever be there. And you're such a threatening being now. She wouldn’t even be able to run. Just watch in horror as you leave her.
Zooble: They don’t even comprehend what's happening at first (understandably.) Listen as much as they love you they book it. They would kinda prefer not to die. But after you are trapped in the floor they are a wreck. Barely keeping themselves together (I like to headcanon their body parts stability is related to their mental stability.)
Kinger: You know how Ragtha might abstract? Yeah no, he definitely does. He’s gone through the death of a loved one once. It was his wife no less. If he doesn’t just go insane right there he does because he refuses to leave your side. He’s with you till the end.
Caine: Well fuck. This is the worst possible thing to happen. Whether people abstract or not is one of the few things he has control over. He doesn’t want to but he’s forced to put you in the cellar. Things on the outside seem normal but inside it’s really not.
Bottom line? They all miss you very much :(
A/n: I hope I wrote them okay for the first time writing (mainly Jac and Caine lol)

Implausible Character Interpretation: Fingon the Cowardly Lion
The fun thing about the Silmarillion is that with so little information about most of the characters, characterization is largely up to the fanfic author. Usually, though, there’s one or two characteristics that really aren’t all that arguable. Fingon, for instance, pretty much has to be valiant.
Doesn’t he?
As a fan of the Ciaphas Cain books, I knew it was possible for someone to have an impressive reputation, an impressive title, a genuine and impressive list of accomplishments . . . and still rather be absolutely anywhere other than the front lines where everyone keeps insisting on putting them.
So I decided to write this.
(If Fingon is your favorite character, please don’t take this as a genuine attack on his courage. Given the evidence, I agree that “valiant” probably is one of his main character traits. This was just done for the fun of seeing how far I could twist canon before it breaks.)
Fingon was six years old and visiting his cousins when he first heard stories about the monsters across the sea. He spent all night huddled up in his bed and watching the door with terrified eyes.
There was an uproar of some sort at breakfast - Ada and Uncle Feanor were fighting about something, he was too tired to really catch what - so Maedhros was the first one to notice the shadows under his eyes and come sit beside him. This meant Maedhros was now between him and the door that led down to the yawning maw of the cellar, so Fingon relaxed enough for the whole thing to come spilling out as soon as his older cousin asked.
He was a bit afraid Maedhros would laugh at him, but he didn’t. He just talked about how wide the ocean was separating them from the monsters, and how the elves had only gotten across it with the Valar’s help.
“And they certainly won’t help monsters cross it, will they?” Maedhros asked reasonably.
Fingon shook his head hesitantly.
“So you’ll probably never even see a monster,” Maedhros concluded. “But even if one did somehow get here, you wouldn’t have to worry about it. I’d never let it get you.”
Fingon had seen Maedhros practice with his sword, and his older cousin was already impossibly tall and might, he’d overheard, grow even more. Maedhros, he was quite sure, could protect him from just about anything.
Much cheered, he turned to his breakfast, but he made sure to stick close to Maedhros for the next few days.
Just in case.
When the light of the Trees went dark, Fingon froze.
Later, when someone else managed to get torches going and it was noticed that he, unlike most everyone else, wasn’t covered in scrapes and bruises from running around and bumping into things in the dark, he was commended on his bravery and sense.
Fingon smiled and deflected the compliments and got to work doing what needed to be done.
Sense, he told himself firmly. It had been sensible. Everyone said so.
He didn’t remember deciding to be sensible, though. He just remembered the choking terror as the illusion of safety was ripped away, and he realized that anything, absolutely anything, could be hiding in the dark.
When they got to Alqualonde, the first thing he saw was the fire.
There was a great mass of fighting on the docks, and Fingon had no idea what was going on - Was Melkor not the only one who had been hiding a monstrous face behind a fair shape? Were their Teleri kin monsters too?
He didn’t know. It was hard to know anything in a world lit only by nightmarish flames, but he saw the bright red flags of his cousins, and he could hear Maedhros calling to rally his soldiers, and if Maedhros was in the middle of it, that’s where he should be too.
It was like the stories, he told himself. Just charge into glorious battle, and victory and heroism would follow. Maybe that would wash away the memory of terror.
He charged forward. His men followed after him and then -
And then -
His sword was dripping red. His arm was dripping red too. That was probably significant.
All he could really focus on was that he’d just thrown up in an alley mostly ignored by the larger battle, and that it was only the way his hand was braced against the stone wall that was keeping him standing.
And Maedhros was there, holding his hair back from his neck, keeping a wary eye out for anyone who might try to take advantage.
“You’re alright,” he said soothingly. “It’ll be alright.”
Fingon stared down at the mess he had made and faced the terrible truth. “I’m a coward.”
“You are not,” Maedhros said firmly. “There is no shame in - We’re fighting our kin, Fingon. There is no shame in feeling the horror of that.”
Yet Maedhros had not been the one to lurch away from the battle to do this.
He couldn’t tell Maedhros that, though. He had no interest in trying to convince Maedhros he was wrong. He couldn’t bear the thought of someone looking at him and knowing about the terrible choking terror that hadn’t left him since the lights went out and knowing him for what he was.
Easier to face a battle than to face that.
He forced himself to pick his sword up from where he’d dropped it like a fool and to push himself away from the wall. “I’m ready,” he said hoarsely. “Let’s do this.”
Maedhros clapped him on the shoulder. “Stay close,” he said. “We’ll watch each other’s backs.”
You mean you’ll watch to make sure I don’t start throwing up on the enemy instead of stabbing them, Fingon thought, but his relief at the idea was far too great to argue with him.
The Valar told them to turn back. The Doom they laid was heavy, and with every word, more of Fingon’s tentative hope that this would get better was stripped away.
There was no point in going. No hope for victory. Just death and more death, and no way out.
Uncle Feanor gave a rousing speech, and it seemed to ignite everyone else.
Everyone but Uncle Finarfin and some of his people, and Fingon badly wanted to turn to his father and say, “Look, they’re leaving, it’s not too late, we can turn back too.”
But his father came up to him and thanked him for everything he’d been doing to help on the journey with weary, grieving eyes, and all Fingon’s courage fled.
“Of course,” he said and got back to work.
Fingon stared across the sea at the distant flames. Beside him, his father said Uncle Feanor’s name like a curse. “He’s abandoned us.”
Abandoned - ?
Everyone else’s angry murmurs clicked together in his head.
He had seen the flames and assumed whatever horrors awaited had burned them, but if everyone else thought it was more likely Uncle Feanor had, Fingon couldn’t argue with them. It did seem rather in character.
Uncle Feanor had burned the ships.
Shameful relief swept through him. They couldn’t possibly cross the ocean now. No one would blame them for not following.
At that moment, he could have happily hugged Uncle Feanor.
“We’ll have to cross the Ice,” his father said grimly.
His momentary shameful exultation fled and was replaced by sinking dread.
Of course. That was the courageous thing to do. They would cross the Ice.
Fingon flung himself into logistics, into supplies, into mediating disputes, into doing anything, anything at all, that meant he wouldn’t have to think.
The Grinding Ice was a slow slog of constant frozen terror kept manageable only by its monotony.
It’ll be better when we get there, Fingon told himself, told everyone who flagged or wept or looked nearly ready to give in. It’ll be better then.
What he kept to himself was the frantic thought that, It has to be.
The sun rose when they arrived, and with it came back some of Fingon’s hope. The light had come back. Surely now things really would get better.
Then Ada marched furiously into the Feanorians’ camp, and Fingon tagged along, blood tinged memories of Alqualonde playing on constant repeat. It couldn’t happen again. Not with such close kin.
Could it?
It was Maglor that came out to meet them, which surprised Fingon a bit, but maybe it shouldn’t have. Everyone knew Maglor had a gilded tongue. He was probably a good choice.
Apparently his father disagreed. “Where is Feanor?” he demanded. “I hadn’t thought he would hide behind his sons.”
Maglor’s eyes flashed. “He did not,” he agreed. “He never once hid. But the enemy’s forces did.”
Fingon’s eyes went wide as the implication hit. His father actually stumbled back a half-step.
“He’s dead?”
“Yes.”
Fingon had no idea how long it had been, but even now, it was plain it wasn’t easy for Maglor to say.
And suddenly it seemed significant that Feanor’s eldest son was also gone. “Where’s Maedhros?” he asked, the cold pit of fear that was always in his stomach now growing larger.
“Taken,” Maglor said with equal grief. “We sent out patrol after patrol to try to take him back. None of them ever - We had to stop.”
There was more to the meeting after that, Fingon knew. There must have been because he knew it ended with shouting and his father stalking off.
He didn’t hear much of it, though.
The monsters had taken Maedhros. And if they could take him, than they could take anyone, anyone at all.
He’d wanted . . . He didn’t know what he’d wanted. Some air. To feel less like he was choking on the anger still boiling in the camp. To forget.
By the time it occurred to him that he’d gone too far, he’d gotten turned around, the sun was going down, and he could hear noises that didn’t sound at all friendly coming in behind him.
Run. He had to run. Even if the only direction free to was straight towards the greatest danger of all.
He ran and ran and ran, till his sides were heaving and his breath was coming in sobbing pants.
The sun was coming up by now. The noises were gone. He could turn around. Go back.
Assuming he could find his way free from this nightmare labyrinth of cliffs.
He sang as he walked. It was stupid, he knew, but the distraction of the music was the only thing keeping him from panicking.
He paused to take a breath, and he heard a faint voice singing back in reply.
Another elf! He hurried towards it eagerly. It sounded familiar, almost like -
Maedhros.
He broke into a run.
He nearly wept when he saw his cousin hung up on the cliff. “I’ll get you out,” he promised. He’d free his cousin and then - well, surely then things would somehow turn out alright.
He went to see Maedhros in the healers’ tent as often as he could. His recovery was swifter than anyone had dared to hope.
“Thank you,” Maedhros said abruptly one day. “I know I haven’t said it before, and I should have. I wasn’t . . . in my right mind then. Thank you.”
On the cliff, he meant. When he’d asked Fingon to kill him.
“Of course you weren’t,” Fingon said in relief. “No one could have been.” Hearing Maedhros say that on the cliff had scared him in a way nothing else had, but this made it better. Of course Maedhros hadn’t meant it. “I’m glad you’re doing better now.”
Maedhros gave him a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes, but that would come in time, Fingon was sure.
“You realize this proves me right,” Maedhros said.
“About what?”
“What I said at Alqualonde.” They both flinched a little at the memory, but Maedhros pressed on. “You’re not a coward, Fingon. You never were. You walked up to Angband. Alone. You’re a hero.”
His cousin’s eyes were glowing with pride and faith, and Fingon couldn’t admit the truth now. He couldn’t.
It was an accident. I rescued you by accident, and I’m too afraid to tell you so.
“Fingon the Valiant,” Maedhros said with a smile. It reached his eyes this time. “That was the name you used to use when we played as children, wasn’t it? It’s even more fitting now.”
“Fingon the Valiant and Maedhros the Clever,” Fingon managed to say. “No monster too great.”
Of course, those monsters hadn’t been real.
It didn’t matter, he told himself. Maedhros was back now. Maedhros was overcoming the worst Morgoth could throw at him. If that wasn’t proof they could get through this, what was?
Everything was terrifying and awful, but it was a pretty consistent level of terrifying and awful with the brief exception of the dragon, so Fingon almost got used to it.
Then nightmarish fire erupted again, and his father wanted to go riding out to the very source.
No, Fingon tried to tell him. No, you can’t do this to us. You don’t get to go riding out to certain death and leave us alone.
Or at least, If you go, I’m going with you.
But he couldn’t argue with his father. Not even now. The Sons of Feanor were not alone in that.
His father did not come back, as Fingon had known he wouldn’t, and that meant -
That meant that Fingon was king.
Maedhros came as soon as he could, and Fingon’s first thought was, Oh, thank goodness, he’s come to contest the crown.
Fingon couldn’t possibly be in charge of this mess. He couldn’t even convince himself they weren’t all doomed; how was he supposed to convince everyone else?
Instead, Maedhros swore loyalty. Fingon accepted it glumly.
“I’m so sorry,” Maedhros told him later in private. “I remember - When Ada died, it felt like the end of the world.”
That was exactly the feeling.
“I didn’t know what to do,” Maedhros admitted wryly. “It’s probably why I got caught.” He hesitated.
“If this is your cautious way of leading up to a suggestion of what I should do, I assure you, I’m more than happy to hear it,” Fingon said.
“Not yet,” Maedhros said. “Not yet. But . . . maybe soon. I’ve an idea brewing.”
“Good,” Fingon said in considerable relief. “You’re the clever one, remember. It’s your job to come up with these things.”
If anyone could get them out of this, Maedhros could.
Fighting a a concentrated battle against Morgoth was . . . not Fingon’s idea of a reassuring plan, exactly.
“If we unite everyone together, we’ve got a chance,” Maedhros said as he laid out page after page of facts and figures. “And then this could finally be over.”
Over. Fingon let himself imagine the bliss of that for one precious moment. No more terror. No more monsters. Over.
Surely he could be brave just this once if it meant a chance of achieving over.
“Alright,” he said. “Let’s do it.”

3x15 Reaction / Commentary
Tumblr media
........who died and made her queen? Literally no one finds it weird that the newby from a day ago holds announcements and motivational speeches? And I thought vampires don't like swift changes. Guess that was racist of me.
Tumblr media
..................?? Literally who has ever denied the vampires entry? Except maybe the shadowhunters to their Institute and the werewolves to their home-restaurant? So she's basically saying “If anyone doesn't want us in their private homes we'll break and enter!” How is no one calling her out on how stupid that is??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hahaha how long did she work on that line?
Tumblr media
........? Why? Because up until this point I was under the impression that the Accords where strictly restricted to governing the border between shadow world and mundanes, keeping them separate and protecting mundanes from demon and downworlder attacks alike.
If you care to remember, the whole mess with helping-save-Luke / not-helping-save-Luke in season 1 happens because Alec says shadowhunters aren't allowed to interfere in downworlder affairs, hence saving Luke would be seen as shadowhunters meddling in downworlder business which isn't a thing shadowhunters are allowed to do. It's why him going to lend Magnus his magic to save Luke was a Big Deal for him, because it was basically breaking the rules. It's why he was so against Jace and Clary helping Luke in the first place, because interfering is – at least the way I understood that! – a breach of the Accords, which grant downworlders the right to govern themselves.
In basically all other situations where there are conflicts between downworlders we don't see shadowhunters interfere: Luke beating Taito-or-however-he-was-called into submission, Camille being put into a coffin in the DuMort's cellar indefinitely for reasons. I'd even let myself be convinced that these might be exceptions, since those are ritualized thingies where downworlders decide who gets to rule, and so the shadowhunters aren't allowed to interfere even if their respective election systems consist of battle to the death / whoever wants to revolt revolts.
But how do you then explain all the other instances: Simon getting that Glen werewolf guy into a wheelchair and never facing any consequences except Luke scolding him a little, Simon fighting to the death with Quinn which never gets investigated, and don't even get me started on the seelie queen because she does shit however she wants to whoever she wants, kidnapping random werewolves and holding them hostage, putting marks of cains on unsuspecting daylighters, openly siding with Valentine, etc. and no shadowhunter ever cares about any of this! Not to mention that when Jace first encounters Jordan, he clearly recognizes his authority as Praetor and withdraws, indicating that the Praetor are an established and known organisation who deal with downworder affairs, and shadowhunters have to steer clear of them. Even Kaelie who murdered shadowhunters wasn't sentenced by shadowhunters! She was transfered back to the seelie court after she was captured and the seelie queen dealt with her as she saw fit. To me that simply fortifies that shadowhunters don't govern downworlder-downworlder-relations. If they don't even govern downworlder-shadowhunter-relations.
Besides, if shadowhunters really were supposed to police downworlder-downworlder-relations then please explain to me why the hell it's always treated like an invasion and an insolence if a downworlder dares to come close to the Institute? I mean, shouldn't there be a contact point for them to get in touch with their executive forces? Wtf??
So I guess this is just a random curveball the show throws my way to make this episode's plot work. And really, this is bullshit. I can't accept this. It's one thing to bend and twist portal travel and magic because, whatever, it's magic. But to just 100% turn around their entire frikkin legal system is not something you can just do! No!!
Tumblr media
He 100% nicked that horse statue thingy from Magnus's loft to make him feel more at home in his room.
Also, I get that this is a cute parallel with the orange juice, but I also get that this is the show again depriving me of seeing Magnus and Alec actually waking up in bed together and it's NOT OKAY. I just want to finally see Alec “Little Spoon” Lightwood in action, is that too much to ask? Apparently -.-
Also, I have questions. If Alec is just putting on his day clothes.... did he go fetch Magnus's orange juice bare-chested? In his pyjama??? Does he have one with little bows and arrows? I need answers!!!
Tumblr media
Rude hahaha, as if living with Magnus was a strenuous, orange-juice-less experience. Kidding, I know he's trying to make living at the Institute palatable to Magnus, quite literally.
Tumblr media
I know I wasn't the only one who had severe Pirates of the Caribbean flashbacks at that because after the sneak peek aired I saw a gifset pointing out the parallel XD
Also
Tumblr media
MAGNUS'S FACE Btw I think it's sweet that Alec spouts reassurances none of them buys just to make Magnus feel comfortable. Just like it's sweet that he brings Magnus a glass of orange juice that they both proceed to ignore, and to add insult to injury, Magnus gets himself a new one later. Rude.
Tumblr media
Okay, so the runes we see here are the nourishment rune (blue), the sharing rune (green) and of course the stamina rune (yellow).... so shadowhunters know to eat real hard. And also... those two tiny tables are supposed to be enough to sustain all those people? With only drinks? Is this some perfidious game where shadowhunters just get drinks and need to feed themselves with nourishment runes? Barbaric.
Tumblr media
Yeah I'm in the mood for pancakes now, too, thanks.
Tumblr media
I'd like to repeat my question from last episode: If Sentry Guy wasn't planning for his untimely demise, how the hell did he want to hand over that data chip?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay but do you realize how amazing and hilarious that is? Because Izzy just came from the serving counter. If she wanted bacon she could have gotten some. But she didn't. To me this looks like routinely stolen food, maybe even just because it's on Jace's plate. This is something that happens regularly and I love it. Need more sibling-y Jace&Izzy interactions honestly!
Also? Izzy missing the piece of bacon on the first try hahaha <3<3<3
Tumblr media
Can we please take a moment to appreciate Magnus's absolutely disgusted face and the fact that he carrys that tray with minimal finger contact? Hilarious.
Tumblr media
1) I too was wondering why they didn't just go out for breakfast to avoid this situation, so I'm glad they mention that this option has crossed the protagonists' minds as well. 2) Why do they already have beverages on their trays when the refreshment tables with the glasses are off to the side? Possibly so they don't have to run around stupidly?
Tumblr media
!!!!!!!!!What other food events are there??????? I need to know okay!!! Also, I think we can all agree that Alec isn't in it for the pancakes but to Prove A Point.
Also, quick question: Who the hell mans the serving counter, who cooks, who cleans the dishes, who buys groceries, who--- etc.
Tumblr media
You know what I was just wondering? This is a new outfit, right? Has he moved all of his clothes to Alec's room? Or are they still in this apartment? What's Lorenzo gonna do with all that stuff? And also, do they really expect me to believe Magnus only had this one apartment and literally no other home anywhere? He couldn't have rune!portaled literally anywhere else? He couldn't have stayed with the ever elusive Catarina? Or crashed on Luke's couch since he's not currently using his apartment, being in jail and all? (Though to be fair, we never actually see Luke's apartment so who knows if it even exists? Since they kind of pretend that all werewolves live at the Jade Wolf.) Magnus couldn't have gotten a hotel? I mean he has cash, right? But sure. I'm totally buying that this was the absolutely only option he had.
Tumblr media
Izzy is the best and I love her.
Tumblr media
So is he supposed to step in as racist, now that Raj is gone? Cuz that'd be unrealistic. I'd buy it if he's miffed that Alec didn't tell him about this, since he's Head of Security and all and could have helped but istg if he reacts badly to Magnus being there I'm gonna flip my shit because Underhill totally ships Malec, okay, why would he react badly?? I'm anxious okay.
“They don't see a lot of warlocks in here.”
Tumblr media
HAHAHAHAHAHAH OMG the sass!!!!!
Tumblr media
I noticed this in the sneak peek already and honestly, I think the shadowhunters are just angry Magnus is there because he gets to eat fancier stuff than they. I mean, look at him! He even changed the shape of the glass because he's so extra. Love him.
Tumblr media
Hahahaha who doesn't want to get a call from jail over breakfast from their father figure. Also I feel like those roles should be reversed XD
Tumblr media
I mean, I get it. But thanks, Luke, for not relaying the crucial detail that this was Heidi or at least that Maia is still alive and to contact her for further info since he's in jail, and thus enabling everything that follows. It's not like he told Simon and Maia to drive off with Jordan because he'd handle filling in the Institute on all that happened. Honestly. He's like that one guy in group projects who says he'd do something and then just.. doesn't.
Tumblr media
..............................................why Look I don't have the energy to rage about this but wtf Luke. If you think anyone would buy all those fang marks being caused by one person alone, then why not try to get the actual culprit to be imprisoned? Or at least, idk, investigated after to gain some time? Honestly. It's like he wants to go to jail.
Tumblr media
Hahahaha okay this is too good an opportunity to pass up, so please go read the dumb drabble I wrote about this exact situation shortly after 3A aired. It's here.
Btw I wanna see that verdict. Because Luke's prints sure as hell aren't on the corpses, and keep in mind any forensic worth a damn should be able to notice that those people died half a day before Luke was found on the site of the crime. Not to mention that since Luke frequented the Jade Wolf it's not exactly surprising he'd want to check up on all his homies there. Not to mention he has zero motive (since his fallout with the pack is so recent nobody not involved would have noticed). And not to mention that he wouldn't even have had time to kill all those people in the 3 minutes after he arrived at the Jade Wolf and before his surveillance team caught up to him. Just, sigh.
Edit: Wow actually they're gonna find his prints all over the corpses because Luke, in his unending wisdom, touched them all to close their eyes. It's like he learned nothing in How To Not Get Imprisoned For Crimes You Didn't Commit 101.
Tumblr media
Great Scene. Very relatable.
Though I gotta say I never got the feeling Maia particularly liked any of her packmates since we always only saw them hating on her for dating a vampire and being general idiots, but I'm gonna ignore that right now. It's easily arguable that their happy pack life together wasn't shown because it wasn't relevant to the plot.
And also.... how did they find the Praetor? Isn't their location top secret? How should I imagine that? Was Jordan lying in the backseat half dead, shouting instructions “Turn left now!! No, not your left, my left! Turn right dammit!!” Wtf.
Tumblr media
RIGHT BACK AT YOU IZZY FFS. *sigh* Okayyyyy technically Clary killed him, but Izzy didn't react with all the indignated outrage she displays now and I vividly remember this and I already ranted about this at length after 3x04 aired. I'm so done with her attitude on this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since when does Alec accept the “I wasn't in control” excuse? Either you were in control, then you go to jail. Or you weren't, then you go in a holding cell because you're an unpredictable danger. In no scenario do you get a free pass. Wtf.
Tumblr media
??????????? You get talked into crossing against a red light, not into a frikkin sadistic hostage-taking, what the actual hell???? Why does Alec buy that???? Is he stupid????
Tumblr media
...................................wtf Alec I hoped you'd do better this episode, but apparently not?? I mean, not investigating anything, just taking random person at her word, not even taking the time to talk with Izzy – even worse, showing in front of a third party that he didn't know about the Raphael* thing – and finally, basically him making that offer half-felt like he was trying to get back at Izzy for her keeping secrets from him? Wtf Alec? Wtf? And also, since the only werewolves left are Luke (currently in jail), Maia (currently missing in action) and Bat (currently at home like the neat little werewolf armcandy that he is) it's really not like Alec is under time pressure to get the vampires who killed all the werewolves behind bars. What's gonna happen if he takes a few hours to investigate properly? There is literally no risk of a war breaking out between werewolves and vampires since there are basically no werewolves left. Wtf Alec, I just robbed you of your already super flimsy excuse for your behavior, so please. Explain yourself. It's as if he wants to make up for last week's inaction by making super swift decisions. Wtf. If this is not Plot Convenience then I don't know what is.
*I guess Alec stopped holding those weekly downworld cabinet meetings or otherwise he would have noticed that Raphael is missing...... LOL or else maybe they want to tell us less than a week passed since 3x04 which, honestly, I WOULDN'T EVEN BE SURPRISED OKAY
Tumblr media
Luke and Clary and Jace are so frikkin stupid. I mean, it's not like they were in this exact same situation in this exact same precinct in season 1 and remembered to turn of the frikkin security cams are you kidding me wtf
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Self-fulfilling prophecy, Luke. Well frikkin done. I don't even feel sorry for you.
Tumblr media
Actually they kicked you out because they new you didn't prioritize them, but sure. Survivor's guilt. I get it.
Anyway now that Luke is caught on tape talking to non-existent people about werewolves and vampires I guess he'll go to the psych ward instead of the jail, so yay for improvement?
Tumblr media
<3
Quick question.... after the cut, to they just awkwardly stand around until someone opens the door again so Jace and Clary can slip out?
Tumblr media
WTF Underhill don't make me hate you.
Izzy: “Raphael is not a bad person. He just made a horrible mistake.” Alec: “He commited a gross violation of the Accords.” Izzy: “He's trying to turn his life around.” Alec: “It doesn't change what he did.”
And yet.............. Alec pardoned Heidi....................... and yet..................................... Izzy hates on Jordan........................................... It's like no one on this show is able to assess situations consistently while disregarding personal relations to the people involved. Really. I don't even really expect it from Izzy because she's too passionate for that. But I sure as hell expected better from Alec. Smh.
Tumblr media
................................................................. What. What even. Because doing things by herself worked out so well last time. Because Alec totally acts like his trust in her judgement wasn't shaken by this revelation. Wtf Alec, why do you agree to this. It makes no sense.
Tumblr media
?????????? this is not the Aline from 2x15
Tumblr media
and that bothers me because 1) why recast her wtf and 2) I think 2x15 Aline looked more approachable and warm and yeah wtf why recast her. So from now on I'm calling this imposter “Aline”. I'm serious. Watch me.
Plot Twist: In German they are dubbed by the same dubbing actress.
Edit: Apparently they recast here because 2x15 Aline wasn't available due to scheduling conflicts which, okay, valid. But I'm still calling the imposter “Aline”. I've commited to it already, okay??
Tumblr media
Alec, your arguemnt is still invalid because the only werewolf ready to wage war is standing right in front of you and you said yourself you thought she was dead. Wtf man.
Tumblr media
YEAH ALEC AND FOR THAT REASON YOU WAIT BEFORE YOU STRIKE A DEAL WITH SUSPECTS WTF MAN YOU OVERTHINK EVERYTHING BUT IN THIS YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO WAIT THREE FRIKKIN MINUTES ARE YOU ACTUALLY KIDDING ME-- I'm exasperated, in case you can't tell. Mainly because Alec assuming Maia is dead makes no sense whatsoever. She wasn't among the dead, so why would he assume she's dead instead of escaped? Why didn't he try to track her? Why didn't he try to call her himself? Why didn't they call ahead?!* So many questions, all answered with two words: Plot Convenience.
*Oh right, because they trusted Luke to tell the Institute everything. But my point still stands. This miscommunication is ridiculous.
Also, can we talk about the pacing? In the time Simon needs to drive his and Maia's ass over to the Institute, Heidi walks in, Alec draws up an amnesty and organizes a mission, they go to the DuMort, secure all the vamps, and bring them back into the Institute. Just how slow was Simon driving? Makes no sense. Wtf.
Tumblr media
Uh-huh. Sure, Head of Security, why would you need to know that. Also, who made those keys? Are they lying around somewhere in a spare drawer? So many questions.
Tumblr media
Good save, man. I can accept that. Seems he's trying to do his job. But still. The way he half-whispered insolently during that mission briefing strikes me as really not fitting his character. He calls Alec “Sir” dammit. As if he'd stoop to such cheap bitchy behavior, especially when it stands to reason that the shadowhunter he was whispering to doesn't respect Alec like Underhill does because, y'know, gay and dating a downworlder and the general tendency of shadowhunters to be biased and racist.
Tumblr media
LOL I guess the first thing I can really appreciate about this episode is that they make an effort to bring back stuff from the past season???
Tumblr media
Aha. Looks like someone felt the need to change.
Clary: “He somehow got it in that twisted head of his that I'm gonna help him find it.”
........did I miss that part? Because I sure don't recall it.
Tumblr media
Well, Simon, then I hope you have a degree in psychology and don't ask any leading questions that make her useless as a witness. Also, be sure to carry your plan out while Alec isn't present so your story will be more credible and Alec won't think you encanto-ed her so she says what you need her to say to get Heidi behind bars. Since, you know, you and Maia are totally neutral when it comes to this investigation. It's always a great idea to conduct investigations yourself when you're completely unbiased and absolutely not involved in any way, with no personal stakes in the matter. SIGH.
Tumblr media
This.... was actually unexpected. See, this is why I like Heidi as a villain. She is smart and she knows how to cover her tracks. And that whole plan to stir up werewolves and vampires against each other was expertedly executed (even if her defense in front of Izzy and Alec was a little weak and Griffin could have acted a little less stupid).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hahahahaha Magnus. Tbh though, Alec knew Underhill would be in charge of setting Magnus up with a key, and the long amount he thought about what the hell Magnus meant makes me think he doesn't really think handsome = Underhill. Surely not after that haircut amiright ok sorry sorry I'm shutting up. Underhill is a handsome guy.
Ugh. Okay, honestly I don't want to do this. I want to say this was a cute scene and move on. But I just can't move past Alec's apology. Why the hell does he apologise? He did nothing wrong? It's his typical my-opinion-doesn't-count,-whatever-the-person-I-love-says-must-be-right-and-I-am-wrong spiel and I hate it. It would have been something else entirely if he'd said “I didn't know this bothered you so much, I won't do that again in the future if it's a problem to you.” Finding a compromise while recognizing that talking about his issues is his right, since Magnus didn't ask him to keep quiet about it. No matter how good he knows Underhill – and I agree with Magnus on that one, it was strange for Alec to talk about his problems with someone he barely knows, but at the time it was, oh surprise, Plot Convienience to bait some cheating angst – it was his right and with his apology
Tumblr media
he basically asserts that it wasn't. Because of some misguided jealousy from Magnus. Magnus should protest this immediately but he doesn’t, he just lets it sit there and just..... argh!
Also another thing, since I saw some people getting worked up over it: Yes, I read the scene earlier in the way that Alec didn't realize Magnus was talking about Underhill because he finds him so super hot, but because context reasons. Still, even if he did find Underhill attractive... that's not a problem? It's part of interacting with someone and looking at their face while talking to them and by the way realizing “Wow, this person isn't fugly.” If he spent all his days oogling Underhill that would be something else entirely, but he obviously doesn't. So, even if his conclusion was “Handsome? Must be Underhill!” that wouldn't make him a bad person. We all know he only has eyes for Magnus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*sigh* I'm a weak woman, okay, this placates me a little.
Tumblr media
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA I  C A N ' T The fact that he thinks he needs to clarify!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing.
Tumblr media
I have so many questions. If she wakes up, will she hold her breath again? I honestly expected her to be dead after Heidi's order, but apparently encanto only takes hold of the person's actions while they are conscious. So this leads me to the question why the f Nora is in a coma instead of simply unconscious, since if your brain doesn't get oxygen you slip into unconsciousness, not coma wtf.
Tumblr media
...............by? The shadowhunters on washing machine handling duty?? So many questions.
Tumblr media
.........or just do it right away. Why wait?
Tumblr media
!!!!!!!!!YES at least someone has common sense left this episode. It physically pains me that this person is Jonathan. Wtf, show.
Tumblr media
1) Soooooo why is his magic suddenly blue again? Though it's slightly tinted so I guess one could argue that this is Magnus trying to cover up the ugly Lorenzo-color. 2) Did the nurse really let them all in? Are they using glamors? I need answers. 3) Won't this place be swarming with doctors as soon as she wakes up?
“This is Maia. If you're hearing this, it's because my phone's battery sucks.”
Hahaha, I approve.
Tumblr media
Lol this is the other reason I like Heidi as a villain, she's cheeky.
Tumblr media
That.......... WAS UNEXPECTED OH MY GOD WOOOW I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!!! Color me impressed!!! And from Maia no less, who's always throw fists first, think straight later!!!
But..... while we saw where she got that syringe from I can't help but wonder where the hell she got that Holy Water from? Also how the hell did Simon, Magnus and Alec know in which back alley exactly she was hiding?? Guess we'll never know.
Tumblr media
Soooooo whenever she stares into the flames she gets a Jonathan-possession-episode???? Okay??????? Why?????????????????? But anyway, the solution to their predicament seems clear: Just keep her away from fire. Then again they're shadowhunters, so compulsively lighting candles is a thing, so I see where this might get difficult.
Tumblr media
You know, this scene would probabley even touch me emotionally if I wasn't busy muttering wtf under my breath because I'm still not over how they completely screwed over the Accords. With the way things were back in 3x04 what Izzy did in banishing Raphael was nothing more than an exceedance of competence. (Yes, Raphael deserves punishment for what he did, but not. from. Izzy.) And now suddenly it's a law-breaking act of compassion? Wtf, no, doesn't compute.
Also, as Bohemian pointed out: why the hell is Raphael's Dramatic Pre Jail Scene with Izzy instead of, idk, Magnus who's like a father to him and also at the Institute in this very moment?? Why do those two don't get any screen-time together when their relationship is more profound than, sorry, anything between Izzy and Raphael?? Tbh reducing Raphael to a pining mess who's only thinking about Izzy makes him feel real two-dimensional to me and he deserves wayyy better than that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...................you know what? No!! Too late!! I've mentioned it in a past reaction post (from 3A I think) that I would have loved for this to be the reason they break up: Maia's okay-ness with ending a conflict through violence and Simon's relative patriotism. And even though this scene was everything I hoped for in this regard it still leaves a stale taste in my mouth because it's come too frakkin late. They are already broken up and their break up scene wasn't up to par. And why wasn't this their break up scene? Because if they'd been together up until now we couldn't have gotten the Jordan/Maia cuddling. Ugh.
Also this
Tumblr media
would have certainly packed more of a punch if it came from someone who was consistently opinionated that way and wasn't randomly stricken by “I don't give a damn who gets injured, I have a gig to get to” moods (and yeah, I'm still not forgiving that, Simon).
Tumblr media
Ohhhh no Magnus, stay away from that carpet, bad things will happen here, didn't you see the sneak peek????
Tumblr media
WOW I am impressed, this is more than I expected so I'm really happy about this, especially since we all know how Magnus “It's all in the past” Bane normally deals with conflicts. You can see how much it costs him to get over himself and say this, and I love it. (What I don’t love is that Alec immediately glosses over this and barely even registers it but, whatever, that’s not Magnus's fault. He did what he should have done, and I’m happy about it.)
“Having an outsider live at the Institute, that is against protocol. And how can I expect everyone else to follow the rules if I don't follow them myself?”
I mean, I don't really think Maia would have refrained from her little murder plot if Magnus had spend the night at a hotel instead of in Alec's bed, but I recognize Alec at least attempting to be true to his rule-abiding, authority-acknowledging character for five seconds. So I'm somewhat semi-..... uh, quarter-proud of him.
Tumblr media
Awwwww and Underhill just worked the whole day to get him settled in, the poor guy.
Tumblr media
AGAIN WOW you can see how much courage it costs him to ask this after last half-season's moving-in-talk went so smoothly!!! I love it!!!
Tumblr media
I LOVE IT!!!
Tumblr media
I HATE IT!!! Yeah wow, I really hate it. Why can't they be happy for two seconds istg!!!!!
Btw I'm ordering you to read Matt's live tweets because they are therapeutic, okay.

-INSERT COOL TITLE FOR AN ANSWER DUMP HERE-
To the anon that sent me asks about Cain: he’s not my character :d
❗️For commonly asked qs please see my BTD FAQ
Tumblr media
I don’t, sorry. Though i think either Gato or EP had a list of some like-minded VNs floating around on their blogs somewhere
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would like to one day! Though everything has to first come to Aust from across the ocean, because for some reason this entire country doesnt do acrylic charms. So i’m not sure what that would do to price cos i’d also want them to be affordable -sobs-
As for the stickers, that is definitely more of a possibility since it’s cheaper to send those flat kinda things out XD Heck you might see them sooner than you think lol.
Tumblr media
He doesn’t know Farz and if Rire doesn’t know you a smart person would keep it that way lol
Tumblr media
Depends. If you make a salt water out of unrefined rock salt and holy water (or vice versa) then yes it would burn quite a bit. The ocean would not cos its not the same.
Tumblr media
What all of them? :V He’d feel SUPER off balance and scared and angry because his powers are an inherent part of him and losing them would be like losing a limb or some vital organs or something. I mean for example do you see how easily and often he wields his Ichor? He’s very in control of his external emotions so he’d probably have a calm facade whilst screaming internally because he knows he’s pretty much like a sitting duck and there’s a whole bunch of people that would be itching to take advantage of that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As soon as i figure out what he looked like XD The keywords i’ve got in mind at the moment are like “big” and “built like a wall”
Tumblr media
He’s 973 and realises this is pretty mindblowing to most humans thanks to their pitiful life spans
Tumblr media
Unless Rire has also taken an interest in someone he literally would not care :B
Tumblr media
There could be a lot of interesting fun to be had with someone with corset piercings...string some ichor through there and tug
Tumblr media
He’s doesnt have too much of a pref and is pretty equal opportunity - if someone looks any some kind of good they might catch his eye. That being said though he actually really is more interested in your personality.
(also as a reminder because i’ve had a few asks sitting in my ask box along said lines, but i’ve stopped answering qs like “what does Rire think of / would Rire be interested in [person, personality type, person’s interests]” because i’ve already generally answered it in my FAQ :V)
Tumblr media
It’d have to be one of your teacups cos he ain’t breaking one of his own
Tumblr media
Oh yes definitely! The most obvious difference is that before he became a Royal he did not play The Game (attempt to make deals with priests), as at the point in time it would’ve been too risky considering a single Battle Priest would have been able to exorcise him (comparatively after he became a Royal it would take like...5+).
Another diff would be that he wouldn’t have been able to do the whole “hallucination” type thing.
Tumblr media
Demon Rire: You’d think dying via exorcism would be his greatest fear but actually it’s being wrongfooted (by a more established Royal) in Royal politics. At least an exorcism is relatively quick and then you die, but demon politics is wild and if you’re not careful that’s YEARS AND YEARS (AND YEARS cos they live so long) of suffering trying to outmaneuver whatever political shitstorm other Royals have quagmired you with.
Tumblr media
Human Rire: Somehow being found out.
Tumblr media
Tags them and puts it with the rest of his soul collection which also doubles as a “wine cellar” of sorts. He’s a collector pretty much for the sheer fun/power of it and he also eats the less “rare” ones of them.
Tumblr media
You imply that he’s recovering ~
Tumblr media
He looks human by default
Tumblr media
That would be pretty awesome! There is nothing stopping other people from making their own BTD inspired games of course :D

On Fire
Tumblr media
What does it mean when someone says “I'm on fire for the Lord”? I hear this term being thrown around a lot and people usually associate fire with passion.
For example, many of us would use fire as a way to describe romantic love. There are a ton of songs that have “fire” in their lyrics: -Jim Morrison sang “light my fire” -The Black Crowes offered to “let me light your candle” -Usher is “Burn”ing for a lover
It sure doesn’t hurt that fire rhymes with desire (but just to warn you out there fire also rhymes with liar, conspire, and backfire... :) However, there is another element to being on fire, more than just passionate praise or earnest vigor. In fact, when people say, “I just want to glorify God, I just want to be on fire, I just want to burn for Jesus”, I would be as bold to say, “no, you probably don’t.”
If you REALLY want to be on fire, according to the apostle Peter, it may mean becoming refined in the fire of suffering. (Read 1 Peter 4:7-19)
Refiner’s Fire
Refining is an interesting process. It is when one heats metals to draw out/remove impurities. All metal has inherent impurities, and there are several ways to purify gold, for example. The most difficult yet successful way is to REFINE it, in a process of adding other acids and agents and an enormous amount of heat, along with a straining process as the dross, the impurities, come to the surface of the metal in the heating process.
A second and less effective way is to actually clean the gold with gold cleaner and attempt to shine it up from the outside. The third and most ridiculous way to make gold more...golden…is to buy a can of gold spray paint at Lowe’s and literally spray gold paint on the outside! Obviously that’s just stupid, but that last method is what a lot of us are thinking about when we consider being made more perfect or mature in the Lord.
We think God comes along and kind of sprays us with His righteousness from the outside, foolishly lacking the wisdom that the Scriptures afford us: that He has imputed His righteousness within, that Christ and the Spirit of God dwell within me, and Christian maturity will flow from within my righteousness and will begin to show on the outside, or my internal struggle with the flesh will be brought to light. When the heat of life’s problems begin in our lives, the impurities will clearly rise to the surface.
Suffering is Critical
Now most of us don't like to suffer. We don't sign up to suffer. But we want to be on fire for Jesus. Notice what happens in Romans 5:3: 3Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, If we worked that verse backwards, here's what we would find: We all want hope. One person said you can live 30 days without food, 3 days without water, 3 minutes without air, but you can't live 3 seconds without hope. How do we get hope according to Romans 5:3? Character produces hope! And according to Romans 5:3 where does character comes from? From endurance. And how do we gain endurance? Through suffering. But none of us like or want to suffer. Did you know there wasn’t always suffering? Before the Fall of man there was a perfect state of joy and peace and balance with no suffering, sin, calamity, pain, death, disease, cavities, weeds, oil spills, politicians, or calculus :)
But when sin entered the world, when our first parents Adam and Eve chose to disregard the command of God, they chose lawlessness over love. They chose the way of suffering. As the Proverb goes "the way of the unfaithful is hard." And when sin entered the world, death came, and suffering, and pain, and loss.
Adam and Eve were the first who sinned, and thus the first to suffer for their own sin. And this downward cycle continued as their son Abel suffered and died for his brother Cain’s sin.
A few generations later, all of creation and mankind suffered because of sin and God grieved that He had made man and essentially started over with Noah and his righteous family. This suffering included a complete destruction of the planet ecologically indicating to us that sin doesn’t just effect humans, and isn’t limited only to the spiritual, but holistically, it can cause suffering on a physical, emotional, intellectual, and even ecological level.
Suffering included a complete destruction of the planet ecologically indicating to us that sin doesn’t just effect humans, and isn’t limited only to the spiritual, but holistically, it can cause suffering on a physical, emotional, intellectual, and even ecological level.
Today we continue to see suffering. Almost half the world's population--3 billion people--live on less than $2.50 a day. According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. And they die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world. Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or even sign their names. An estimated 40 million people are living with HIV/AIDS. Every year there are 350–500 million cases of malaria, with 1 million fatalities. Some 1.1 billion people in developing countries have inadequate access to water, and 2.6 billion lack basic sanitation. 1.6 billion people live without electricity.
Two Perspectives
Paul Brand, the missionary surgeon to India wrote in his book: Pain: The Gift Nobody Wants...
I have come to see that pain and pleasure come to us not as opposites but as Siamese twins, strangely joined and intertwined. Nearly all my memories of acute happiness, in fact, involve some element of pain or struggle. I have never heard anyone say, "The deepest and rarest and most satisfying joys of my life have come in times of extended ease and earthly comfort." Nobody says that. It isn't true. What's true is what Samuel Rutherford said when he was put in the cellars of affliction: "The Great King keeps his wine there" -- not in the courtyard where the sun shines. What's true is what Charles Spurgeon said: "They who dive in the sea of affliction bring up rare pearls."
How do you approach your suffering? A lot of us do so in one of two ways: Many years ago, a large American shoe manufacturer sent two sales reps out to different parts of the Australian outback to see if they could drum up some business among the aborigines. Some time later, the company received telegrams from both agents. The first one said, "No business here...natives don't wear shoes." The second one said, "Great opportunity here...natives don't wear shoes!"
Are you surprised by the trials you find yourself in? You need to expect these things, and more than that--to rejoice in them so that Christ's glories can be revealed in and through your trials.
As C. S. Lewis once said "God whispers in our pleasures, but shouts in our pains."
In his book "Broken Things", M.R. Dehaan tells this story:
A little piece of wood once complained bitterly because it owner kept whittling away at it, cutting and filling it with holes, but the one who was cutting it so remorselessly paid no attention to it complaining. He was making a flute out of that piece of ebony, and he was too wise to resist from doing so, even though the wood complained bitterly. He seemed to say, “Little piece of wood, without these holes, and all this cutting, you would be a black stick forever, just a useless piece of ebony. What I am doing now may make you think that I am destroying you, but, instead, I will change you into a flute, and your sweet music will charm the souls of men and comfort many a sorrowing heart. My cutting you is the making of you--for only thus can you be a blessing in the world.”
Martin Luther said “If we consider the greatness and the glory of the life we shall have when we have risen from the dead, it would not be difficult at all for us to bear the concerns of this world. If I believe the Word, I shall on the Last Day, after the sentence has been pronounced, not only gladly have suffered ordinary temptations, insults, and imprisonment, but I shall also say: "O, that I did not throw myself under the feet of all the godless for the sake of the great glory which I now see revealed and which has come to me through the merit of Christ!"
Trust God
Will you entrust your suffering to God? If we submit our lives to Him in the midst of the fire we may not see relief from the flames, but, like Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego, others will look at us and say: "I see men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of (the One with them in the fire) is like a son of God." We can say confidently as they did: “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
Do you truly want to be on fire for the Lord? For the early church, that meant a literal death by fire. For us today, perhaps it is a death to self, a willingness to allow God to refine us. Start by setting your heart and mind on Christ, and allow Him to burn in you. Allow Him to burn away the dross, burn away self and sin and flesh, and consume your offering. Allow Jesus to refine you and to be with you in the refiner's fire. Life will never be the same. Our God indeed is a “consuming fire”.
